Because additional to the high amount of money that the pay drivers parents payed, the nepo babies also got an easier way because let's face it in motorsports people are more likely to pay attention when there is a Verstappen, a Magnussen, a Sainz or a Schumacher. Nope! I actually REALLY disagree with the idea of mortal/venial sins! It’s EXTREMELY “legalistic”. 

St. John Chrysostom said, “The Church is a hospital, and not a courtroom, for souls. She does not condemn on behalf of sins but grants remission of sins.”

To break down every sin, to catalog them like books and label them like spices defeats the ultimate purpose. We should not spend time trying to work out if a sin is “important” enough.

As Elder Paisios of Mt. Athos said “The goal is to rise spiritually, not simply to avoid sin.” 

Sorry my Roman Catholic friends but I’ve found my major issue with the West is their tendency to try and “figure out” every single aspect of God and boil him down to a “science” of sorts; mortal/venial sins is a perfect example of that. I think they spent too much time trying to “make sense” of Him. God doesn’t “make sense”. God is much bigger and greater than we can imagine. He’s not out here drawing such arbitrary lines in the sand.

It really isn’t helpful either. We shouldn’t be letting ourselves think that that! Don’t focus on the sin but on rising spiritually, see the sin and instantly remove it from your life. Confess and move on. All sins may be forgiven, no matter the size so do not worry if your sin will or won’t be forgiven because in true repentance, all sins are forgiven.

and donny originally has jimmy read the rules and sot of be the keeper of those, but then he realizes half way in that jimmy has been playing everyone and somehow has been getting out of jail early

no one has played in a long while, and no one expected the lawyer to finesse the system

“i knew i had too much faith in the judicial system.” (nick, probably)

so julia read through the rules and now she calls out donny when he does something “illegal” and he hates having ever mentioned the rules

“why don’t we just play without them?” (johnny)

and everyone sort of turns to him because they forgot he was still playing

johnny was banking on this and has created an empire that no one can topple

donny exclusively buys the blue and red properties and spends all of his money on putting up a crazy amount of hotels

when he lands on one of the railroads (that belongs to julia) he goes bankrupt and has to start selling things

it all goes downhill from there

and donny looks at julia and asks for a pardon but she just smiles and says it’s not a part of the  r u l e s

but let’s look at the board real quick, because here’s the facts

julia has the railroads and the browns (or purple, depending on your version) and a few other places like connecticut avenue (light blue) and st. james place (orange)

nick keeps trying to pay her off for those properties so he can start building houses, but julia refuses to sell

jimmy has all of the pinks and the utilities and he is just trying to save up enough money so that he can make it past donny’s blockade at the final stretch of the board

he has landed on it 3 times now and is debating on whether or not he should get a loan from johnny or not

johnny wouldn’t swindle him, right?

davy was a serious player for the first 20 minutes, but then he hit free parking and hasn’t cared since

he own no properties because he sold park place to donny, one of the railroads to julia, and the rest of his cards (including his get out of jail free card) to johnny

wayne was playing initially, but after getting in a fight with nick over whether or not a community chest card applied to him, he has folded and become just the banker

he mostly just watches the events play out and makes snide comments

nick is slowly dying because everyone is building hotels and julia has him hostage since she has the final light blue and the final orange.

he has gone to jail for the past four times around the board, and even though he has a get out of jail free card, he stays there because it’s safest there

and now we move on to our king™ johnny he has all the yellows and all the greens, and he has a huge stack of money that he keeps hidden in his pocket.

donny keeps selling hotels to jonny instead of the bank (which infuriates wayne because that’s not how it’s supposed to work) and that is the only way that johnny has ever put hotels on the board

he also keeps forgetting to check the board when people roll, so nick has landed on his properties like twelve times but has only paid seven times, and twice because julia called him out on it

julia is on johnny’s team because she knows she can’t win, but really wants to take down donny.

after two hours, donny is hanging on by a thread

he keeps getting chance and community chest cards that give him like $200 dollars or advance him to go, and it’s the only way he has stayed alive

julia lands on boardwalk shortly after and donny is happy and takes her for everything she has

which isn’t a lot, because she has been in debt to johnny this entire time

donny is absolutely  c r y i n g  because she gives him like a hundred dollars and st. james place (orange) and asks hm to not sell it to nick, no matter what

“what the hell did i ever do to you?” (nick, probably)

wayne has definitely left the chat™ and there was an argument over who the banker was going to be

it couldn’t be donny because he would cheat

johnny is the best with numbers, but they are also 92% sure he is the reason why there is like, only one (1) $100 bill in the bank

“jimmy is a swindler!” (davy, who is most definitely drunk)

and so julia who thought she was free is now the banker

at two and a half hours, nick folds after he lands on a chance card that has him give 80% of his total worth to free parking

“i’m not doing the math.” and the throws all of his stuff to the middle of the board

so now it’s a race to free parking and donny gets stuck in jail :(

johnny gets there first

he has the browns (or purple), the light blues, the oranges (bar one card - st. james place), the yellows, the greens, the railroads and all of nick’s money

which was like $321 dollars, tbh

jimmy is about to sob and donny looks at the board and says “nope” and gives all of his money and cards to jimmy

jimmy now has the reds, the pinks, the blues, the utilites, and st. james place

no one really knows what happens after that, because neither jimmy nor johnny ever speak about it

julia claims that johnny won because he had the board from the beginning

donny disagrees because he says johnny is nice enough to give jimmy an infinite amount of loans (he is now the banker) so that the game never really ended

neither of them know because they were making out in the other room

but after that, jimmy claimed he was a “god fearing man” and would never play monopoly again

and johnny suggested it every saturday after practice

7. what was your life like last year? 

(jason mendoza voice) well, my year started about a year ago. it was probably one of the most interesting years of my life so far? maybe the hardest, idk? a lot happened, i think i did a lot of Growing UpTM. i was very very busy at first with my research masters and a bunch of extracurricular bullshit and then something happened in my family that forced us all to spend more time together, which made me realize a lot of things about myself and my family, and then, after debating it for months, i moved to the uk -- which turned out to be a great decision. i had such a good time and it gave me a sense of perspective and space that i didn’t know i needed. and i dated for the first time in ever, which was also fun! am totally not yearning/wondering about what could have been! nope! haha! ha! ha

17. opinion on insecurities. 

insecurities are dumb and u shouldn’t have them. jk! false! it’s very normal to have insecurities! we are taught to be insecure about so many things in so many ways, to a point where it can feel unnatural to not be insecure about xyz thing! ppl will even attack you for not being insecure about certain things, probs bc it increases their own insecurity levels and/or threatens power hierarchies! many insecurities are connected to social axes such as race, class, gender, sexuality, size, dis/ability, religion -- and then you throw capitalism into the mix and now we’ve got a bunch of industries specifically designed to profit off of our insecurities! good times!

my conclusion, as a fat woman, is that people (and billion dollar industries such as the diet industry and the cosmetics industry) don’t actually want me to love my body, or myself. they don’t! they want me to be insecure and self-conscious and ashamed about my size, they want to to act out a specific role, that of the insecure fat girl, and inhabit and carry my body in specific ways, bc if i’m confident and don’t feel ashamed of my size, the world will crumble! if fat isn’t actually morally inferior/ugly/worthless/lazy/etc. then thin people would have to face the reality that all the time and energy they put in trying not to look like me is for nought! there’s lots more here to unpack and i feel like im not wording these things right and all of these things are so complicated and cannot be divorced from other issues such as racism and sexism and capitalism, but here’s a start.

my point is -- insecurities suck, they’re usually based on lies people and, more importantly, institutions and industries try to sell you, and i wish for everybody that they will one day know what it feels like to no longer have those insecurities -- and it’s completely normal to have them. there is no shame in having insecurities! it’s very hard to not buy into them. you have to put in so much conscious effort and energy into ridding yourself of insecurities that you’ve had for a lifetime -- and even then, it’s not a static thing. it’s not just a question of simply ‘changing your mind’ when the majority of society disagrees with you, when they don’t want you to gain confidence. some days im like: fuck fatphobia! im hot as fuck! also my worth is not defined by my looks so it doesn’t even matter! and then two hours later i’ll go outside and get fatcalled, or catcalled, or i’ll see my body in the reflection of a window, and suddenly my whole resolve crumbles, even tho i know on an intellectual level that it’s not true, the lie that i’m about to give into. it’s not easy. it’s not a matter of flicking a switch, even tho i sincerely wish it was. something that does help, or at least it did for me, is learning how those bigger systems, such as fatphobia, racism, colorism, misogyny, transphobia, are at work. this helps to see that it is not you, individually, who is lacking something or doing something wrong. there are entire institutions and industries who contribute to you feeling this way -- and profit off it (wow look at me, writing my thesis one tumblr ask at a time!)

What inspired you to rp your muse?  —  twipri has been my favorite video game of all time since i first played it the xmas after it came out, when i was 7. it was an unbelievably huge influence on my life, and got me through a whole lot of shit i’d have to go through up until i was a teenager. it was a constant for me, a comfort. and link, being the protagonist, was of course the center of it. i connected to him really hard, and becoming him whenever i played the game was like magic to me as a kid. honestly, i dont know why i didnt write him until this year, because he’s been such an easy headspace for me to slip into for years. ig i just figured it was about time? id already written both tp zel and midna at separate points, so it was only right to complete the trio ksjfgh

Are you okay with people pointing out your grammatical errors?  —  mm i don’t mind it, but i don’t really see the point. rp is a form of writing that doesn’t need much editing, and when it does, we are our own editors, so of course we’re going to make mistakes and overlook them. english is a complicated and hard language, and typos/misspellings/grammar errors happen and it’s not a big deal

Do you think you are easy going as a mun?   —  yes!! i’m a very laid-back person in general i think, and of course i have things i won’t tolerate and i’ll speak up when i need to, but at the end of the day rp is a hobby, and it’s something we do to have fun, and i know that having fun is the most important part of doing this. though, sometimes i think my anxiety & fear of confrontation might make me a little too lenient on things like my own rules tho kjfhg

Summary: while infiltrating a banquet, maintaining the illusion quickly becomes a herculean task when your partner doesn’t want to play by the rules 

General 98: “Not sure if you could tell, but I’m not exactly a people person.”

 “You didn’t have to be such an ass, ya know...”

 “The fact that he even bothered to approach warranted my reaction.”

  The man in question is a young twenty-something who obviously comes from a background of wealth, what with his form-fitting refinery being cut from a crushed velvet, the shade a soft yet rich black, and the lapels and other trimmings as glossy as his oxfords. He’s handsome enough in your opinion. There’s a roundness to his jaw left over from adolescence yet there’s a sort of college age maturity around his brown eyes; he’s cradling a coupe of bubbling, golden champagne so he’s gotta at least be of legal drinking age- though you’re willing to bet that laws and other legalities are often bent to accommodate this crowd of greed and privilege. 

  “He only wanted a dance, though.” You mumble around a sigh.

  Your companion’s red eyes slide your way before She merely scoffs in response.

  Your vision follows the retreating silhouette of the young man, his head hanging low while his feet drag along the polished tile. The way his eyes tended to wander, or rather appraise as if he were inspecting trade goods and not talking to a person, isn’t lost on you but even still a fraction of your conscience goes out to him. He’s not predatory per say, just... very privileged. 

  “It’s not like he was being a creep about it.”

  The vampire draws in a lungful of breath. “In case you couldn’t tell, revenant, I’m not exactly a people person, and there is no way that that boy ‘only wanted a dance’.”

  Now that you can’t necessarily disagree with, however you can’t blame the young man either. See no matter the occasion or situation Alucard always tends to stick out from the crowd, whether it’s the imposing profile He cuts due to His monumental height or the sheer miasmic capacity of His ancient power, either way He never fails to snatch everybody’s eye. Even now, in a form that maintains a traditionally feminine shape, He- or rather She, gotta keep up the illusion after all- is an attention gatherer.

  The cashmere of Her dress is such a luxurious burgundy that not only does it look incredibly soft to the touch (not to mention expensive) it also makes the pallor of Her skin milk white; the plunging neckline draws the eye to Her modest bust, and it elongates the length of Her throat, while the skirt smooths out the roundness of Her hips. With long black curls tumbling down the small of Her back and Her lips painted a deep, dark rouge, it’s no wonder if that young man’s intentions were a tad more... intimate than one mere dance.

  Heaven knows that your thoughts aren’t exactly chaste right now either.

  “Regardless, we shouldn’t draw attention to ourselves,” you glance at Alucard through your peripheral, “and no doubt some of these boujee idiots heard the verbal abuse you just gave to that kid.”

  The corner of Her lips curl a fraction, a subtle gesture that you would’ve otherwise missed were it not for the fact that you’ve begun to notice Her body’s involuntary reactions.

  “Save your worrying for someone else, revenant. I have no need nor any desire for it.” She growls lowly.

  You roll your eyes and hiss under your breath: “I’m not worried about you, asshole! I’m worried about blowing our cover!”

  It occurs to you a second too late that maybe your statement wasn’t as quiet as you think when you notice some banquet attenders are staring at the two of you, and not even remotely trying to be discreet about it. The wind is immediately sucked out of your sails, clearing the dryness from your throat with a cough into your fist, and you hope that perhaps it’s the odd, mismatched paring you and Alucard make that’s catching their attention.

  It’s just as likely an excuse, after all.

  Probably.

  A single exhale of air rushes through Her nose and in that moment your passive aggressive ass decides to put all of the blame of the staring entirely on Her and Her way too tight dress.

  Then, in the ballroom where a crowd has gathered into a mass of lustrous silk and glittering jewels, the orchestra begins plucking their nylon strings and you become possessed in a moment of brave insanity.

  You take a step towards the glistering cacophony and offer Her the crook of your elbow with a polite smirk. She in turn regards you with the slightest of sneers curling Her upper lip, yet another instinctual reaction that you’ve noticed as your partnership marches (more like shambles) on. “May I have this dance, Countess De Ville?”

  ...yeah, Alucard really should’ve chosen a better alias. It’s a little too on the nose for your comfort.

Can I be absolutely honest? Nope.

Not long ago, I would strongly disagree with myself and produce litanies of WHY DOES THIS PERSON HATE ME!!! WHY AM I PERCEIVED THIS WAY!!! WHY WOULD U SAY THAT TO ME!!!

but now? After I moved blogs? I feel so refreshed. I have grown indifferent to such things. Thought not entirely. I will not say that if someone sends me a hateful message that I won't be unhappy or hurt, but I definitely won't provide them any attention. I feel like sometimes we forget that just because we keep certain things private, like how we are bothered by someone or something, it doesn't take the weight off of that feeling.

I definitely will not be liked by many people and I think the most important part of becoming an adult is understanding why that doesn't matter one bit. It is not my duty to tend to how people perceive me. I know who I am. That is enough.

Besides, I'm quite reasonable, I know when I'm wrong and I try to correct myself as much as possible.

i cannot speak to kit and emilia’s chemistry because while i agree, i don’t see it at all, i know jonerys shippers feel very passionately about their ship, and they can see something there i don’t. 

gotta agree to disagree on emilia’s interpretation of the mad queen. she was acting exactly how she always does (which is, in itself, a performance dany pus on), but she was completely dead behind the eyes. i thought her stoicism and conviction was very true to form of a mad queen. 

i thought peter’s performance was really good other than weeping over jaime and cersei. i just never buy when characters weep. i think it’s tacky. pushing back a flood of tears is nearly always more effective, and moreover, when a loved one dies, it is VERY difficult to process it right away, even if you’re expecting it. so characters just LOSING IT the moment they learn of someone’s death just always gives me secondhand embarrassment.

to me sansa looked completely CGI in that last scene? like sophie noped out of the final episode so they had to hand-draw her or something. what was up with that. am i the only one who thought she looked animated?

U talk about Oliver’s habit of lying to Felicity & u say that it’s something that will never change about him &Felicity just has to learn to accept that but that really doesn’t seem healthy imo. If my husband kept lying to me and keeping secrets from me over and over again, I wouldn’t just shrug and say “oh well that’s just who he is”. That is absolutely a behavior he can change. It doesn’t have to be either/or. Oliver can be a hero without sacrificing his relationship with Felicity & vice versa

I would also like to add that I’ve been in relationships where my boyfriend lied to me about things repeatedly and I think that he truly believed he was justified, but in my opinion, there really is no “good” reason for lying to someone you’re supposed to love. So when I see people (not you specifically, but just people in general) try to justify Oliver’s lies, it makes me really uncomfortable and, as much as it would break my heart, it kinda makes me want Felicity to leave Oliver because she shouldn’t just have to “accept it”. Sorry about the rant, but I feel like I’m the only one that takes issue with Oliver’s constant lying. I think I’m mostly just mad at the writers. :/ 

I’m sorry your ex boyfriend(s) lied to you. That’s awful. Nobody deserves to be lied to. I think most people can relate to this experience because we’ve all been lied to at some point or another. If you haven’t been lied to then count yourself lucky. I can understand why you are upset anytime Oliver lies. We all bring our life experience to how we feel about stories. Certain storylines can trigger a deeper, more emotional response. We can even relive a painful memory or trauma from our own life. Lying is your trigger storyline. Mine are miscarriages, abortion and cheating. Everyone has them, so I hope you can take comfort in the fact you are not alone.

However, I disagree with how you’ve interpreted my response to these storylines. There can be a very large divide between what I write and how someone interprets it. It’s just one of the pitfalls of blogging I guess. Sometimes I understand because my writing has been unclear or I phrased something poorly and it requires additional explanation. But in this instance I gotta be honest, I have no idea where you are getting this from:

Not only have I never written or said this, I don’t understand how you can interpret that I did. But nonetheless here we are, so allow me the opportunity to be very clear. 

Your interpretation of how I look at Oliver’s lying is just flat out wrong. I have never said or written Felicity needs to accept Oliver’s lying. I have never said or written this is something Oliver can not change. Anytime Oliver lies I say it is wrong because it is wrong. Anytime Oliver lies to Felicity I strongly disagree with his choice and voice my disagreement for many, many pages-  including the post I believe you are referring to. Anytime Oliver lies to Felicity I am angry, disappointed and frustrated with him. So, it makes absolutely no sense to me why you think I believe this is behavior Felicity must accept.

What I wrote was this:  

There are simply aspects of Oliver Queen that are never going to change. He will always be the put-it-all-on-the-line-fall-on-the-sword-sacrifice-everything-for-everyone guy. And as maddening as this may be, Oliver is not always going to ask Felicity’s permission before he does it.

The behavior I said will never change is Oliver’s heroic selflessness. Oliver will always sacrifice himself or his happiness for the good of other people. This is the behavior I said Felicity needs to accept because this is who Oliver is. And Felicity has accepted this. It’s one of the reasons she loves Oliver. In fact I believe this is what she loves most about him. She has said as much on multiple occasions. 

I’ve also said in multiple posts, including the one you are referencing, that Oliver’s selfless heroism is not a free pass to lie to Felicity about his actions or not consult her. He should have told her about William (although I don’t categorize this particular lie as selfless heroism). He should have discussed going to prison with her. Oliver should tell Felicity about the deal he made with the Monitor immediately. Anytime Oliver has failed to do these things I am emphatic about my disagreement. 

As much as Oliver says Felicity and William are his top priority, they are not. What comes first in Oliver’s life is the Green Arrow. He puts the welfare of the city and world above his own. Sometimes Felicity and William are the people Oliver is protecting, but more often than not they are what Oliver is sacrificing. That’s the definition of a hero. Heroism requires sacrifice and therefore what is being sacrificed is Oliver’s happiness - his relationship with his wife and child. We’ve seen this time and again on Arrow because this is a story about a superhero and that’s what superheroes do. 

This is why you don’t marry Batman.

I believe intent is important. Oliver wanted to tell Felicity about William, but he was hamstrung with a ridiculous ultimatum. I think he absolutely did not want to go to prison and was confident Felicity would talk him out of it. I think he was in SPACE negotiating with the Monitor and couldn’t make a phone call to the wife to get her approval to sacrifice whatever he agreed to. The circumstances surrounding these lies do matter to me. 

None of these good intentions excuse Oliver’s lies, but they are evidence of his good heart. Oliver often does the wrong thing while fervently trying to do the right thing.  As I’ve said many times, he is an imperfect heart trying to love perfectly.  Once again - Felicity’s speech in 6x11 is an acknowledgement of all of this.

Sometimes good people make mistakes. Sometimes they make the same mistakes several times before they finally get it right. Me recognizing Oliver’s fallibility and offering forgiveness like his wife has done is not the same as saying his lies are okay. Nor is it saying the lies are something Felicity has to accept.

I don’t know what your boyfriend(s) lied to you about, but I agree we can rationalize pretty much everything and there are seldom good reasons for lying. I don’t put up with lying in my marriage. Trust is vitally important, easily broken, and difficult to repair. 

However, this is why I said in the post I am not applying real world scenarios to Oliver and Felicity all the time.  They live in a fantasy world where they fight aliens and go to prison without a trial. I don’t know about your boyfriend, but my husband isn’t lying about sacrificing his life for the world. My husband and I aren’t a crime fighting duo trying to save a city. At this point in our lives, our biggest problem is trying to figure out what to watch on Netflix.

I’m sorry, but I’m not going to crucify Oliver for lying to Felicity while he’s saving his loved ones from prison, the lives of other heroes and/or the world. I am going to give the guy some points for that. I’ve also accepted Oliver isn’t always going to ask Felicity’s permission to do what he believes needs to be done . Sometimes he physically and logistically can’t (re: space) and other times it’s because it’s actually easier on Oliver if he doesn’t discuss it with Felicity. 

I will explain the “easier on Oliver” reason hopefully before people start throwing things at me. 

Nope. Too late. 

As I’ve said countless times before, when would Felicity ever be okay with Oliver sacrificing his freedom and/or life for her or anyone else? She wouldn’t. I don’t know any spouse who would be okay with that. 

Ultimately, I am asking for Oliver and Felicity to have the same discussion again and again. 

I already know what Felicity is going to say.

So does Oliver. 

She’s said it all before in previous seasons. 

They’ve had this fight many times.

The circumstances might be different  

and what is said may change,

but it’s always the please-don’t-go-we-will-find-another-way

song and dance. 

This is exactly what Oliver tells Felicity in 3x20. 

Sometimes he just doesn’t have the emotional energy to have the same fight. Sometimes it hurts too much to have it. Sometimes Oliver is afraid Felicity is going to convince him otherwise and then he won’t do what needs to be done. Again, not a free pass to lie, but I can understand why the biggest oak tree to ever live makes the choices he does sometimes.

The flip is Oliver doesn’t get to be pissed with how Felicity’s deals with all his sacrifices. He doesn’t get to come back and Monday morning quarterback all her decisions. 

There are also going to be times when Felicity is going to hero in ways Oliver disagrees with. She’s going to put her life on the line, make moral judgments, and cross lines just like him. If Oliver has the freedom to operate this way then so should Felicity. May I also add that when Felicity behaves this way I cheer her on. But when Oliver behaves this way I am supposed to reprimand him? That feels like a double standard to me.

Their discussions in 7x08 & 7x09 are meant to show that Oliver and Felicity understand the world they live in and the choices they are required to make. Instead of judging and being pissed at each other about all the heroic sacrificing they do, Oliver and Felicity decided to recognize they are both pretty spectacular individuals and they love each other more than life itself. I’m okay with that.

Is it possible to find another way? Sure. It’s always possible for Oliver to do something else, but this is Arrow we are talking about. It doesn’t always make sense and it has plot holes the size of the Grand Canyon. We aren’t watching Breaking Bad y’all. Oliver is constantly boxed into corners with ridiculous plot lines. As audience members we can say, “He should do this or that,” to avoid the situation, but those loop holes and easy exits are never available to Oliver in the show. Why? Because the writers are forcing the character down a certain road.

Rather than beat my head against the wall arguing about all the contrivances, ridiculousness and A, B, and C options that will help Oliver easily avoid the sacrifice, I accept the scenario as is. It’s a fruitless endeavor to do otherwise. I accept Arrow for what is is and what it is not. Nor am I going to penalize the character or the relationship because of the writing choices. I’m not blaming Oliver and Olicity for the stupid shit the Arrow writers do.

I absolutely wish the writers would stop with all the lying. It’s unnecessary and truly doesn’t add a lot to the plot, but they’ve decided this is a great way to drum up drama for Oliver and Felicity without breaking them up. I think we can move on from this plot point because the writers have done it to death. 

However, this may be like me wishing for Elena to be more than a tennis ball The Vampire Diaries writers bounce back and forth between Damon and Stefan. 

I’m not sure. Time will tell. 

I feel like I am in between a rock and a hard place. If I am not reassuring everyone that Oliver will tell Felicity the truth about the Monitor deal then I am accepting of his lies. If I say Oliver will tell Felicity right away and I’m wrong then I’m getting everyone’s hopes up. The reason I am saying I don’t know if Oliver will tell the truth is because I don’t know. That’s not a moral judgement on the behavior though.

This may be a hugely unpopular statement, but I do not believe lying to Felicity is the worst thing Oliver has ever done. I got on board with this character when he was murdering people regularly. Sure, they were all bad people, but how is that any less a rationalization for morally questionable behavior? It’s not. We’ve been morally rationalizing this character’s actions from the pilot. Oliver Queen is a character in constant moral flux. That’s the show.

We are moving slowly, but surely along a a spectrum. Oliver has lied since day one to every single person to ever come in contact with him. While he has yet to fully grasp the necessity for complete transparency, his reasons for lying are becoming less selfish - not that they were all that selfish to begin with. Also, his sacrifices are rapidly approaching Jesus level. 

Can we honestly say Oliver doesn’t pay for his mistakes? Anytime Oliver lies he’s either tortured, loses a loved one, is sent away to a maximum security prison, etc. The list goes on and on. The man gets more than his fair share of comeuppance. 

So, no I’m not going to advocate for Felicity leave Oliver. I don’t think the lies Oliver has told are cause for divorce. It’s fine if you do, but that’s not where I’m at. Quite frankly, I wouldn’t divorce my husband for lying about/failing to discuss going to prison for me or offering his life to save others. It takes a pretty amazing person to do those things. So, maybe it does make it easier to forgive him for his wildly disrespectful, hurtful, and dishonest choice of not cluing me in on the plan. 

But first, I would cry and tell him I need him more than the world does.

And then I’d be pissed as hell at him. 

I’d read him the riot act about how it’s my life too and he should’ve talked to me. 

I’d scream and yell about how he abandoned me. 

I’d tell him where to shove his apologies.

Nor would I put up with any judgement over how I behaved in his absence. 

But I would still love him. 

I would still want to be with him.

But this is why I didn’t marry a superhero. Felicity Smoak did. You best believe she knows exactly who she married. Oliver Queen is her choice and that includes all his imperfections, repeated mistakes, and hurtful behavior. That’s marriage. 

Oliver doesn’t have to become a fully realized superhero to learn he shouldn’t lie to his wife. But the writers may very well decide the end point to Oliver’s lying is when he is a fully realized superhero. I don’t know. I don’t control the story.I was extremely patient with the murdering, so I figure I can be patient with the lying.  More importantly, I’m not to going penalize Oliver Queen for being the Green Arrow in a show called Arrow. You may see these situations as very black and white Anon, and that’s fine, but I do not. I don’t think Felicity does either.

So I finished watching MLP Season 8 and...

….it´s actually not bad.

Yeah, I´m the first to admit I have to eat my words and agree the show hasn´t really gone down as much as I thought after the movie. I still hate it but the show itself remains good. Yes, there are more than a few mediocre or outright horrible episodes there but the good ones more than compensate.

I do believe that Dubuc is kinda out of her element on ponies, which may explain her use for an entire new cast aside from hasbro´s orders. The friendship school thing is done better than I though tough I still think is kinda stupid at moments.

Overall the balance is...fine.

I was expecting worse but it was an okay season.

I do hate that they explicitly mention the events of the movie but they´re STILL refusing to acknowledge the Equestria Girls ones. Come on Mccarty, stop being embarrassed ot the BETTER story!

Below the cut is my personal opinions of each episode with a dose of sarcasm if u want to read them but for the season as a whole I´ll give a 7/10 it was regular to me.

701-702:  “Girls, I want you all to work on my new school!”

So this wasn´t bad. I though Twilight was gonna be more selfish but she actually makes some fair points and owns to her mistakes here. What´s funny is that she doesn't act this way the rest of the season…

I still think the students are kinda lame but I like how they interact with each other and the episode itself was well handled.

Still, Twilight isn't perfect either since she refuses to have zebras or buffaloes or talking cats on her school. Hell, there aren´t even crystal ponies so she´s almost as bad the racist snape guy.

Kinda standard but good episodes.

I said it once, I´ll said it again, Maud overstayed her welcome. She´s no longer funny and feels like a creator pet by now.

That said the episode itself is actually really good.

Confalone GETS pinkie and gives he an actual character and this was honestly better handled that with Twilight.

Hell for a second I thought Pinkie was gonna have to deal with her own since her meeting with the guy has all the elements of a meet cute scene =P

I could live without the stupid opening scene but it seems even Pinkie realized Maud was being offensive to her audience there…

A really fun Pinkie episode to add to the pile

So yeah, this was a waste of time.

So the mane six can´t help Rarity with her store but have plenty of time to go yell at Fluttershy?

And if Rarity hates the ponies of Saddle Row so much why does she enve sells them clothes?

I actually hate how they´re all portrayed cause they´re feeding the stereotype that people into fashion are shallow and petty and the whole point of Rarity´s character was to subvert that!

I only laughed at one joke in the whole episode.

So yeah another terrible fluttershy episode to add to the pile

805 The real reason Rainbow flies so fast...to escape her gay for applejack thoughts.

So a perfectly okay episode.

In other seasons it would have gone unnoticed but in this one it stands out for having solid writing.

It was fun and rainbow was very likeable here since she honestly seemed more concern about the grannies than anything.

It feels a bit stretched out but this is normal for a pony episode.

I do hope she kicks Applejack's behind the second she came back to town though…

A fun Rainbow episode.

SO yeah a complete waste of time.

I understand the point but it doesn't work for me since it seems like they made the problem way too simple.

I also dislike the hippogriffs on principle since i find I them really lame characters so…

Oh and this episode has the WORST song in the entire show. Hell is not even a song, is just words with music behind it.

So yeah, pretty lame episode.

I already talked about this back when it aired and yeah, my opinion hasn't changed.

This isn´t a Celestia episode, is another of Twilight´s poorly made panic attacks ones.

We learned absolutely nothing about Celestia, she learns nothing at all and we wasted twenty minutes of our lives.

For a fan of the character, waiting nine years for this is nothing but an insult.

The saddest thing is knowing that the show will end without having a proper celestia episode.

So yeah, a total waste of time with only the adorable sunbutt to save some face

Really, how come Starlight is NOT a wanted criminal? The episode could have dealt with her hometown disowning her but nope, is just a kinda lame sitcom situation.

Hell, it would have been better if we´re told the parents hooked up and now Starlight and Sunburst feel all kind of awkard but nope.

i suppose there´s like a moral lesson in here but the episode was so dull I don't even remember it.

It could have been a better story but it amounts to nothing.

It even made more sense back then but now spike not knowing “how to dragon” has become a huge plot hole cause there´s absolutely no reason for him not to know these things so this entire conflict is pointless.

Oh and him having wings is something I don't really like.

Explain how he didn't have those during season 2 when he grew, hasbro! ANother lame Spike episode to the bad spike episodes pile.

So yeah do they do anything at Twilight school other than waste time? No wonder the CMC want to go there! Wasting time is their entire MO nowadays since they have their marks!

Prety standard episode, is honestly just to introduce the villain.

The only really fun thing is the “your mom” bit, I would have approved her out of that alone.

It´s okay, sadly can´t say more.

Again, this show always suffers from not having a b plot going on so the conflict get  a bit stretched but as an episode, it was well done.

Hey snape is right that Friendship IS a weapon in this universe, glad someone finally mentioned it.

There´s actually a good moral lesson about how no matter if the lessons are good if the methods are fraudulent which coming from Hasbro is the ultimate irony.

Flim Flam are kinda overdone at this point but it still works.

Actually a pretty good episode.

I mean the premise relies on twilight´s students being borderline sociopaths (guys, is not that complex of an idea, friends can disagree on things) but the episode itself it was really fun and the Raridash wa adorable.

I honestly liked it.

What part of this is supportive” pinkie? Your friends were assholes to you that made you feel bad so you stop bothering them and then come looking for you because is a problem for THEM?

There´s a better lesson about admitting you may not have the talent for something, which is a lesson that kids DO need to learn but since the problem is solved with a “who cares?” the moral lesson doesnt´work and nobody really learns anything here.

I´m sorry but cootalo was a brat the entire episode in need of a good spanking.

Rainbow did absolutely nothing wrong and that gid set gogin around here is full of lies.

If anything she was a bit rash over the fact that yeah, the little girl she sees a sister suddenly is throwing her away...again, cause she did it with the maredowell thing also. Funny they didn´t mention it, probably to appease the fandom.

As an episode is nothing bad, Rainbow actually comes out great here so yeah, Scootaloo, you're grounded..as in put in a hole in the ground.

An dhow come Rockhoof has no job in “modern equestria”? there used to be plenty of things wanting to eat the ponies every week, did they disappear in between seasons or what?

I mean I could argue they have already dome similar stuff but it make sense here. The tree of harmony finally gets some light on it and this actually helps make the students look less lame by giving them character so...yeah, it´s actually really good.

So yeah...as an episode is okay but I´l argue that even the target audience could saw this coming a mile away.

My only real problem is that Spike barely apologizes to TWilight despite hurting her so much. Why is he such a brat? Twilight is nothing but a loving and supportive sister to him, look at that opening scene, si so lovely an touching!

Why does the show keep treating Twilight caring for her sibling and treating him like an equal as a bad thing? She even offers to let him go and learn more about his culture, she is supporting and loving why do they keep treating her like she´s doing a bad thing? and again kind of a big plothole nowdays  with dragons going around Equestria with no problems.

Other than that is a fine episode.

Again...actually really good episodes.

The action was good,the stakes were high, while that poor manticore shouldn't be there I still like the good detail than monsters have been kept her since past seasons and than the mane six honestly don´t hold a grudge against them, hope there´s an actual redemption arc down the line and they don't just forget about them like with the other villains,

Speaking of that, Cozy is probably the best vilian on the entire show.Hell, she´s better than Thanos cause she doesn't have an stupid justification, she just want s POWAAAAA! And she´s damn adorable and effective, she almost won.

Still They missed a chance to say that the missing magic was going to the human world to tie things up with Equestria girls for once and who the hell delivers letters to tartarus anyways?

The finally more than makes up and gives almost everyone a chance to shine so I like it. The mane six were treated with a LOT more respect than in the damn movie that's for sure.

Good solid episodes.

So that´s season 8, is not that bad honestly.. Had they had a better focus it would be better. Continuity is still a bit of a mess and just saying past stuff doesn't count but hey they´re trying.

Now I have like 40 Equestria Girls episodes to catch up though…
