nasu can squeeze in every fsn bitch under the sun into every damn fate property he makes but somehow can’t put a SINGLE NON EGYPTIAN AFRICAN SERVANT IN ANYTHING???? NOT EVEN YASUKE??? Y’KNOW ONE OF ODA NOBUNAGA’S RETAINERS???
#I love fsn as much as the next guy but come on#then again this also means I get to avoid typical fate bs being applied to my folk heroes and mythology I#but like#if it’s that or pretending the rest of Africa doesn’t fucking exist I’d take that#Africa being erased in 90% of big media outside of Egypt is a real problem that I am super fucking tired of#so getting SOMETHING in one ot the biggest franchises in the world would probably help with that!#but noooo#lets go to Britain again#or India! but we better not make any ot the Indians actually brown#what about Sakura let’s make another sakuraface#fgo#fate#fsn#fsr#fate extra#fate extella#damn near every fate property y’all catch my drift

Personal hot take that I think should just be universally standard:
Spicy = hot, burning, can include numbing
Spicey = full of spices, heavily spiced, not necessarily spicy
#so like. eating a whole jalapeno? spicy but not spicey. mala/numbing beef? spicy but arguably not spicey.#midwestern U.S. chili? spicey (as there's literally so many spices in it it typically comes out with a like powdery residue) but not spicy#fucking. gingerbread? spicey but not spicy#a solid Indian curry? spicy and spicey!#my favorite tofu dish rn which is basically just fried tofu cooked in a really well spiced chili oil? SPICY AND SPICEY#thank you for coming to my ted talk

RE: cultural appropriation primarily being about an economic state of affairs where white people make money off of other people, a related idea I've been contemplating but haven't been able to like. Finish writing about is the idea of cultural decontextualization, which is when a cultural majority (often but not always white people) engage with another culture in a manner that erases- and may simultaneously replicate- racist histories, and is more about creating false narratives than economics.
A personal example would be white people making clothes based off of Coptic Egyptian artifacts, especially while generically referring to them as "Roman" or arguing Coptic art does not exist, which denies Copts part of Coptic history while resurrecting the French Coptomania of the 1920s, and specifically Albert Gayet's actions of taking items from Coptic graves to the point where a model was dressed in a tunic and shown off (which is also terrible from an artifact preservation perspective- this tunic would've been at minimum, 1300 years old at the time).
#cipher talk#Other examples are a lot of shit historical customers do#Like the Cathy Hay peacock dress debacle. Given that an Indian embroiderer faced heavy harassment it counts on both fronts#A lot of what Fr*da K*hlo did to my understanding also counts- both for CA and CD#Just going off what I've read from LatAm (for lack of a better word) Indigenous people have to say about her#There is also sometimes an economic element here#Like plenty of these replicas are sold#Plus it results in bad history#The Persian riding coats found in late Antiquity Egypt cannot be taken as 'typical Roman soldiers kit'#They're representative of a specific relationship Coptic Egypt had to Persia in late Antiquity#But I see drawings featured in academic sources misrepresenting this but shoeing a white Roman soldier in one at least a century before the#Evidence we have for them existing in Egypt#And plenty of white re-enactors claiming these are examples of fibulatron#They are not!!!

no scientist would deny that black people lived in Europe, and likely all over the entire Eurasian / African super-continent; before caucasians came in. Black Africans have been seafaring and crossing the Atlantic for millennia. Scientists now agree that even before the younger dryas, seafaring peoples also populated the Americas via Pacific island chains. There's no dispute that at least 3 different genetic sources of humans entered the Americas, including as well the Siberian-American landbridge. beyond dispute that white people originated from south Asia / India, and / or Hindi culture (hence, Indo-European meaning, Hindo or Hindu-European); it makes sense that this was a mercy program for people with albinism, born in the tropics of South Asia and India, to migrate north in their lifetime to seek a life away from the sun that would leave them burnt and with lowered life expectancy. No scientist would argue with the statement that India sent their albinos north and that became what we know as "caucasians" today, so calling caucasians "dravidian albinos" seems pretty accurate to me, almost seems beyond scientific debate at this point, but this write up does a nice job of at least conveying the fragility among audiences on this topic. Is it true some white people get offended by this analysis? holy snowflake meltdown batman I'm a human first and foremost, but i won't deny i am typically perceived as a white guy, this does not offend me whatsoever, I'm just genuinely curious where the controversy or confusion is ...
#for further reading...#linguistics#anthropology#geography#dravidian albinos#origin story of caucasians?#lol i'm typically perceived as a white guy#i have to say that because every one in 50 people will swear on Gawd I have Amer-Indian blood too#and that's also the oral history of the fam

stanley's starting to turn into a cartoon villain
#“he was indian. indian people treat their women badly. that means sal did it” this is the most strangely worded racism i've seen#tbf i don't live in the uk so idk how the racism there is but uh. holly i think you might be slamming the pedal a bit too hard#racism's typically not so . . . outspoken? usually more subtle and on the down-low <- saying that as an indian. btw#like stanley adding the fact that sal was indian to all the articles is the subtle part. seems strange that he'd harp about it out loud?#but maybe i'm just sheltered#agggtm#stria speaks#agggtm liveblog

Its rly sad when good concepts are ruined by shit execution
#im talking abt kalli 2989 ad#futuristic indian cyberpunk movie with mythology ? awesome!#but none of the characters evoke anything to make me feel like rooting for them#somethings are soo tropey it feels ai#they did a mind map of futuristic sounding words that fit the vibes and it just takes away from being immersed#I keep thinking this is soo typical#its got the basicest cyberpunk rebel vs corporate tropes but made soulless like those are good concepts yes but they managed to ruin it#nothing original. worse than typical south indian action films cus even with out a story its at least enjoyable#that's cus you root for the characters but I dont care abt any of them.#oh btw the fight scenes are shit too#like they even made anti gravity look unrealistic . and its already unrealistic
