It was 20 years ago (ish) :: Empire magazine publishes The Lord of the Rings: A Celebration, a special booklet enclosed with the magazine's January 2004 issue, which was released in December 2003. The booklet carried interviews with the principal cast of the LOTR trilogy as well as a significant amount of the creatives involved. The photography was taken in Watford, New York, Wellington, London, Sydney, Los Angeles, Surrey, Melbourne, and Vancouver between February and October 2003. Shown here: Ian McKellen (Gandalf), Elijah Wood (Frodo), Billy Boyd (Pippin); John Rhys-Davies (Gimli/Treebeard), Dominic Monaghan (Merry), Sean Bean (Boromir); Orlando Bloom (Legolas), Sean Astin (Sam), Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn); Miranda Otto (Eowyn), Andy Serkis (Gollum/Smeagol), Liv Tyler (Arwen); Bernard Hill (Theoden), Christopher Lee (Saruman), Karl Urban (Eomer); Hugo Weaving (Elrond), David Wenham (Faramir), and Cate Blanchett (Galadriel). [Note: Dominic Monaghan's photo here is an outtake; the actual shot in the booklet can be seen here. These photoshoots provided several excellent outtakes that I'd be happy to share if there is interest.]

if i’m correct in assuming your requests are open, may i perhaps request a (female) common kestrel themed moodboard? if possible, with images of button house (west horsley place in east surrey), old-fashioned offices, and forgotten letters/documents? though it isn’t necessary if not possible ofc
also noticed youre into doctor who i think?? which is brilliant!! i love doctor who! (i do need to catch up on the most recent episodes, though — i haven’t had the chance to just yet.) do you have a favourite doctor and/or companion, perhaps? :>
thank you so much in advance!

I am into doctor who!!!
cut if you're not interested in hearing:
DIDNWAKDVUQMVUNGK ok so I don't really know if I have a favorite doctor... I'm only really caught up to 11 (also not fully done with him) but I love every doctor. 9, 10, 11, I adore them all. I think it's SO RUDE that people just skip 9??? like yeah 10 is good and all but give 9 some love. (9 is my sister's favorite btw) Id say I love every doctor so far. I'm a bit scared for 13, as I've heard her story telling isn't well....the best? But I love Capaldi so I'm super excited for 12
As for companions, I definitely have an answer. The one and only Rose Tyler!!! I could go on and on about her she's my absolute favorite. To rank champions so far:
Rose
Amy
River
Donna
Jack
Martha
Mickey
I ABSLOUTLEY HATE MICKEY OKAY. ABSLOUTLEY DESPISE HIM HE'S JUST. HE ANNOYS ME.
I don't really hate Martha she just kinda got screwed by the narrative and story-telling, especially bc they wrote her as a love-sick puppy that we really just didn't need after losing Rose.
AMY!!! I LOVE AMY!! Rose is my no.1 but I adore Amy too. She needs therapy though..
Idk if I should put Rory on the list??? I also don't know if Mickey belongs but ehhh he's a companion in a few episodes.
Also I think River is cool even though I rarely get to see her, she's just really cool.
Contrary to most opinions, Donna is not my favorite. She's good and all but she just doesn't make it to my top 3, we'll see how I feel when I get to 14 though.

How did your muse spend their first night in Arcadia, and where?
Daisy had spent her entire life running. For a long time, she wasn’t entirely sure what from. Not until she received a phone call. Hushed whispers, the eerie sound of medical equipment beeping. Her father’s voice on the other end of the phone. Shaken, a voice she no longer recognised. Informing her that her mother had passed. Everything after that became a blur. The blonde remembers rushed apologies, a broken sob… whether that came from him, or her she’s not entirely certain before she ends the call. Cell phone placed in her jacket pocket as she runs for real this time. Feet pounding against the floor; she can hear her heartbeat in her ears, blood pumping through her body fast. It’s not until she needs to stop to catch her breath that she notices the tree, the beginnings of fog. A gentle hand steadies her against the trunk. A short distance away, she spots a cinema. Perhaps if she watches a movie it’ll distract her from the pain that threatens to consume all that she is. The closer she gets to the building, however, the easier it is to tell that there are no movies being played here. No hope of distraction. Instead, she finds a bathroom stall, very much in need of cleaning – not that she minds much, right now… and cries herself to sleep.
Why did your muse choose to live where they do?
It happens sometime in her first week. The old cinema becomes more familiar as she tries to settle into a town that feels lightyears away from what she’s used to. Yet, it provides her a chance to connect with who she is. Exactly what she’s lost. It’s on her fourth night where she decides she needs a little more comfort than the cold floor of a bathroom can offer her. Daisy ventures into one of the old screen rooms. A layer of dust coats the plush red seats. It’s a seat in the middle of the middle row that she’s drawn to. The seat that she’d usually take when her parents would take her to the cinema. Her mom carried the snacks, while her dad carried drinks so large she’d need at least one bathroom break during the movie. She curls up in the chair, hands wrapped around her knees, head placed on top. When she closes her eyes she can hear her mother’s voice, calming her… assuring her that everything was going to be okay. That she didn’t have to be scared. She finds solace in that. The craving to hear her mother’s voice is enough for her to stay right where she is. Though as time passes, how clearly she’s able to hear it worsens. Until, six months in, she no longer hears anything. Just the silence. But the middle seat in the middle row has become home.
What was your muse doing when they came across the tree?
Daisy had spent the last three months on the opposite side of the world, escaping the tragedy that had unfolded back home. Back in England, her mother had been fighting cancer. It wasn’t until the doctor uttered the words “stage four, incurable.” that the blonde formulated a plan to travel to America. Opting to distract herself than see the woman who raised her slowly fade away before her eyes. Facing problems head on had never been her strong suit. Still, she made sure to call every day. Strictly audio. Witnessing the pain in her fathers eyes was not an option. Part of her wanted him to scold her, tell her that she was being selfish… but the scolding never came. It was while she was on a walk that she received a phone call from him; breaking the unspoken rule they’d established of her being the one to initiate contact.
Has your muse left anything behind that they are desperately trying to return to or escape?
Most days, the guilt that threatens to consume Daisy is huge. Not being there for her mom, when she so desperately needed her, eats away at her like maggots at rotting flesh. As the only child, she should have been. She should have been there to whisper soothing words, hold her hand, wipe away stray tears. But she hadn’t been. She’d fled the first opportunity that she got. Had used all of her savings, without even so much as a proper goodbye. If she distracts herself enough, she can forget it for a few moments. Allow herself to live in a world where she can recreate who she wants to be. Where the kindness she had inherited from the woman had raised her shines through like sunlight basking a meadow. Daisy has made a home here, it’s not the most convenient… but even if she could leave, she isn’t sure that she wants to. Leaving would mean returning to the scene of the crime. Watching the man who raised her become a shell of himself. While the reality she lives in is by no means easy, it’s much easier than the one she escaped from.

Thor: The Dark World
Thor: The Dark World is a 2013 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Thor, produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is the sequel to Thor (2011) and the eighth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film was directed by Alan Taylor from a screenplay by Christopher Yost and written by the writing team of Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. Starring Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinue-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levy, Tadanobu Asano, Jamie Alexander, Rennes Roos and Renesso Roos, Ray Stevenson, Chris Hemsworth as Thor. did In the film, Thor and Loki (Hiddleston) team up to save the Nine Realms from the Dark Elves.
Development of a Thor sequel began in April 2011 when producer Kevin Feige announced plans to follow up the MCU crossover film The Avengers (2012). In July, Thor director Kenneth Branagh pulled out of the sequel. In January 2012, Taylor was hired to replace him as director. The supporting cast was rounded out that August with the hiring of Eccleston and Akinue-Agbaje as the film's villains. Filming took place from September to December 2012, primarily in Surrey, England, as well as in Iceland and London. Taylor wanted the film to be more grounded than Thor, inspired by his work on Game of Thrones. He hired Carter Burwell to compose the score, but Marvel replaced Burwell with Brian Tyler.
Thor: The Dark World premiered at London's Odeon Leicester Square on October 22, 2013, and was released in the United States on November 8 as part of the second installment of the MCU. The film was a commercial success, grossing over $644 million worldwide and becoming the tenth highest-grossing film of 2013. It received praise for Hemsworth and Hiddleston's performances, visual effects, and action sequences, but was criticized for its generic villain and lack thereof. In Depth Retrospectively, Taylor expressed dissatisfaction with the film and stated that Marvel changed it significantly from his original vision during post-production. Two sequels were released: Thor: Ragnarok (2017) and Thor: Love and Thunder (2022).

"There was the officer who told Tyler Nielsen she needed to check his licence because he was driving a car-share vehicle. Two weeks later, another officer warned him — incorrectly — that there were warrants out for his arrest.
Then two RCMP officers in Surrey pulled Nielsen out of his car and handcuffed him before letting him go with no charges and little explanation. Six months later, he was pulled over again by an officer who explained she just needed to check his licence, because sometimes car-share vehicles are stolen or driven by people who don’t have a valid driver’s licence.
Finally, there was the officer who told Nielsen he’d been pulled over because he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.
Nielsen says being pulled over six times in 18 months is not normal for him. He’s had no traffic tickets in the five years he’s lived in B.C., and none of the traffic stops have resulted in tickets or charges.
But he can identify when the traffic stops started — after he was interviewed by several local news outlets in August 2021.
In September 2020, Nielsen had filmed a Vancouver Police Department officer shoving a man so hard that he fell backwards and hit his head on the pavement. A complaint about the incident had previously been made to B.C.’s Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner, but the office had ruled the complaint “unsubstantiated” and closed the file.
That changed when BeeLee Lee, a friend of Nielsen’s, posted his video on her social media accounts nearly a year after the incident took place. Global News, The Tyee and Vancouver Is Awesome all reported on the story and the police complaint was reopened. In October 2021, the complaint was referred to the RCMP for a criminal investigation.
Nielsen says the first traffic stop happened soon after he gave media interviews about his video in August 2021. After that stop, he started recording on his phone whenever he noticed police had started tailing or surveilling him."

Tracey Nadine Jack was 28 years old when she was shot by her estranged husband on July 5, 2000 at a dealership she worked at in Prince George. Witnesses reported watching her be chased by her husband, Gordon Darrell Wolfe, across the parking lot and into the dealership while he tried to shoot her. One witness eventually got the gun from her husband, claimed they watched him step on Tracey’s back and then shoot her in the head. He then shot her boyfriend in the stomach. He was arrested and sentenced to a maximum of 25 years for first degree murder, 15 years for attempted murder and 1 year for contempt court.

Tyler Neudorf was arrested on April 19, 2002 and charged with second degree murder, but pleaded to a lesser charge of manslaughter. He was sentenced to 7 years plus time served in October 2003.
