Twst! Cinderella and her step"loving" family

Yayyy I finally finished this one! After so much time since their dance chibi animation...

Anyway... in my twst! lore Cinderella got a loving family, an overprotective stepfather, two little stepsisters a bit jealous but very supportive if anyone badmouth their step big sister!

Let's go much more deeper...

Actually my lore is based on the novel of the Disney!Villain counterpart (Disney multiverse helloooo).

Cinderella lost her parents ruined by some shady traffic, and before the tragic Trein's wife death, she asked him to adopt the daughter of one of her dear childhood friend.

In memory of his wife he adopted the little girl, but gave her cold treatment as she would be unaffectionate and being also cold toward her new family. But he still cared for her and treats her very well.

Unfortunately since little Cinderella got adopted, the shady person who ruined her parents did the same to her stepfamily (money legacy testament hello!!!). They went bankrupt and outcast quickly and feeling deeply sorry for them and also responsable, Cinderella decided to take care of her step family and their house.

They grew up as a strange but loving family, until Cinderella's fairy godmommy stepped in (fairy being a fairy she was late like...8 years late...), Trein refused to let her stepdaughter with an unknow fairy godmother, and the fairy stated that a grumpy man isolating his daughters is no noo nooooo good either!

Eventually the fairy told them about the ball, the prince and so on, and.....chaos wreck among the house, with fangirls screams and running around the table!

Trein refused to let everyone go to the ball since it's dangerous (also being a bit scarred to finally noticed his daughters all grown up) and threw out the fairy with Lucius help.

But seeing the opportunity to go outside, and gathering infos about the shady persons, Cinderella went to the ball with her fairy godmommy's help and Cinderella's story started.

Noticing Cinderella's missing, Trein and his daughters went to the ball to get her back and she greets them while exciting (her stepsisters being half jealous half happy to have her back// Trein suffocating between their hug crush but happy to got her step daughter back)

Bla bla bla Cinderella Disney!story with the shady persons in jail (epic detective story she got her legacy back and bring back Trein's lost reputation). Unfortunatly Trein rejected his stepdaughter as she left them to got married.... breaking both their heart.... As her stepfather left her without any kind words and Trein not wanted to see his daughters leaving...

They eventually reconciliate later as she gave birth to her first child, and so first Trein's grandchildren.

When I make new moots who have ocs, I always get excited at the idea of oc interactions.

And now I've realised our ocs are a generation apart, but I still think it would be fun to see them and interact and it creates interesting potential

Trein is inspired by the evil stepmother from Cinderella ! His cat is pretty much the same one that appears on the movie (and belongs to the stepmother), and he mentions his daughters a couple times which I assume is a reference to the stepmother's daughters, aka Cinderella's stepsisters :>

I'm kind of a fraudulent Disney fan in that I only truly appreciate Disney strictly because I played Toontown Online growing up lmfao. Although of course that's changing now because of TWST... I literally watched Sleeping Beauty for the first time last year because I wanted to better understand (more like desperate for crumbs) Malleus 😭😭😭

Damn, the Cinderella's evil stepmother to Trein pipeline is so... what a glow up, truly. That's so interesting about the references to the daughters, and the cat. Otherwise I literally would never connect Trein to that evil ass woman because he just gives off such pure, sweet dad vibes to me 😭😭😭

Personality: Duchess is a sweet woman who shows compassion for those around her, no matter who they are. She had a habit of being able to befriend people, no matter their rank or species, which at times can get her into trouble. She's not easily startled or afraid of others(As shown when she called Cobra handsome and unique for his appearance). She enjoys time with her children and was previously distraught when she thought her husband died when she was expecting the triplets, after being told by a soldier that he was lost during a war.

Duchess loves and cherishes her kids, teaching them manners and loving them equally. She befriends a former street thug named Thompson, who helps her raise her children. She's joyful and relieved when she finds Cobra alive, crying tears of joy and introducing their babies to him. She tends to scold Cobra who at times hisses or growls at Thompson, telling her husband that the fellow cat beast was friendly.

Appearance: When she was younger Duchess had waist length snow white hair, that would normally be in a half up half down style. Her eyes are a sparkling sapphire blue and were stated by Cobra to twinkle when light hits them. She used to wear ankle length white dresses with necklace jewelry and a white bow in her hair along with low heeled white or blue shoes.

Nowadays she wears white knee length dresses along with a white ribbon with a green sapphire in the middle. She wears medium high heels that are blue or white with little bows on the front. Her hair is chin length and a straight wavy mixture. Around her neck is Cobras old collar like necklace that she gifted him and he'd wear whenever he visited her.

-Duchess is friends with Deuce's mother, so their kids would play whenever they visisted

-Cobra states that Duchess was twenty-two or twenty-three when she was expecting the triplets

💫Sweet Dreams of my Twst OCs Part 1💫

“You will become the protagonists of your own fairy tales…”

Hello everyone!

So…how about that most recent update in EN?! With everyone on the Isle of Sages currently in a deep slumber, I thought it’d be fun to explore just what my ocs are dreaming of. So I’ll be devoting the next few days of posts to just that! Starting with my Heartslabyul and Scarabia ocs. Fair warning, some of these ARE sad! 😭

What is your oc’s ideal dream world?

Post book 6, Crisanta has only one major trouble, that soon her younger stepsister will soon be entering NRC for her freshman year. The largest source of anguish for Crisanta has always been her stepfamily and how her father essentially abandoned her, her mother and sister to have a family with another woman. And since her stepmother is a powerful mage, Crisanta’s main reason for studying magic is so that one day she can surpass her in skill. 

Her perfect dream world is rather simple. She and her sister are spending their spring break making a court ordered visit to their father and stepfamily, much to their chagrin. While having dinner, her stepsister announces that she will not be attending NRC after all but will instead be going to RSA. Crisanta is already relieved by this but when her stepmother makes a snide comment about NRC being a school for delinquents, Crisanta retorts that her magical skills have more than doubled since attending NRC. Her stepsister demands that she proves it and they have a magical duel that Crisanta wins. Her sister is thrilled but both her stepsister and stepmother are very embarrassed by this, not realizing just how much Crisanta has improved. Later, Crisanta calls up Ione and they arrange to hang out together, having fun outside the confides of school, which is always a dream come true for both girls. 

Ione, Sinclair, Taima and Iman under the cut! 

Ione’s dream begins back at the start of the school year, as she’s preparing for the black carriage to pick her up from home and take her to NRC. In real life, no one was home when she left and when she called her father to tell him she was leaving, he snapped at her because he was busy at work and coludn’t be bothered. This harshness greatly affected how she was feeling when she arrived at NRC and she admittedly gave the cold shoulder to most of those who reached out to her, including Crisanta. Riddle took an immediate liking to Ione though.

In her perfect dream world, her mother is still alive and she and her eldest sister help Ione get ready to leave for NRC. Yolanda helps her daughter with her ceremonial robes makeup and reiterates over and over how proud she is of Ione for being accepted into such a prestigious arcane academy. Yolanda and Estelle give Ione one last hug and the black carriage takes her away. During the orientation, Riddle still takes a liking to Ione but she and Crisanta also hit it off right away. Ione also makes friends with Deuce and needless to say, Ace doesn’t exist in her dream world. 

In Sinclair’s perfect dream world, his overblot never happened and he’s still dorm leader of Heartslabyul. He’s successfully begun his fourth year at NRC and is taking off from his senior internship to welcome the new freshmen into his dorm. Riddle is still around but in Sinclair’s perfect dream world, he’s far less pedantic and sharp-tonged. Instead having a personality far more like how he is post-overblot. 

And surprisingly enough, Sinclair and Riddle get along reasonably well. The truth is Sinclair does respect Riddle’s magical skill and meticulous nature, albeit secretly. And if the younger hand’t ousted him and “got in the way” of Sinclair’s friendship with Trey, it’s likely they might have even become friends themselves. At the end of the Heartslabyul welcome party, Sinclair and Trey discuss dorm matters as Trey has taken the reins by acting as dorm leader in Sinclair’s absence. Sinclair decides that since he’ll soon be graduating, it’s time to make Trey’s new position official. Trey becomes Heartslabyul’s new dorm leader and Sinclair suggests that he might want to make Riddle his vice. Also in Sinclair’s dream world, he is still on good terms with Sidonie, but has no interest in seducing her. 

For the most part, Taima’s life is already perfect to her. She gets along well with her family, has good friends and enjoys being a Scarabia student. And the things that she’d prefer be different in her world are not very dire. So in Taima’s perfect dream world, the only major difference is that her siblings and Minette all attend NRC with her rather than going to RSA. Lilianne is in Pomefiore with Danica, Mateo is in Savannaclaw and Minette is in Heartslabyul. 

Taima’s dream also takes place during the interdorm spelldrive tournament and instead of Scarabia losing, they come in third place. The reason they do so well is because they don’t have the bad luck of going up against Diasomnia right off the bat and Taima still plays very well. She even plays against her brother and leads Scarabia to victory against Savannaclaw, much to Leona’s chagrin. Scarabia still loses out to Diasomnia but she’s in much better spirits about it and a certain Diasomnia cabbage head even commends her. Much to her secret delight. 

Post book 6, Iman has begun to wise up to certain realities of the world and currently, her biggest worry is what will become of her in her third year. For the longest time, her family has been dropping hints that she should take a more personal interest in Kalim. And Kalim’s father, keen to increase his political influence, really wants his son to marry into the royal family. While Iman has never really had an interest in Kalim as anything beyond friendship, lately, she has begun to see it as a reality but not for the best reasons. She doesn’t love Kalim, but she wishes to have influence in the Asim family, enough influence to convince Kalim to set Jamil and his family free. 

But in her ideal dream world, none of this is a concern. The Vipers aren’t servants and Jamil is Scarabia’s dorm leader. Iman is at his side as his vice. Though Kalim is a regular student, the three are on far better terms and  even friends. Jamil is also more receptive of the idea of being Iman’s friend, and maybe even more in time. And needless to say, with Jamil leading Scarabia and given the recognition he deserves, the events of Book 4 never happen.

First one is based off the white rabbit, which is probably not an original idea. He’s in Heartslabyul!

These two are based on Drizella and Anastasia, Cinderella’s evil stepsisters. I decided to have them not go to NRC. They’re probably former graduates though.

(Cendrillon person here hiiiiiiiiii the fanfic was actually about TWST and I'm not sure if you play that so er im gonna make some generalisations in the form of fanfic tropes/storytelling)

Ok so the main character takes the place of Cendrillon and the love interest that of Prince Charming (ofc)

BUT

the story goes: MC's parents (both) die, an associate of their dad seizes the house, and is now the legal guardian of MC and at least 3 other boys he is implied to have kidnapped from their families. 2 of the 3 boys, who are all characters from the original franchise, are servants to the Associate and the last Kidnapped Boy, who looks pretty enough to be shoved into the role of Evil Stepsister except he's not actually evil, he's in as much shit as the others are, because they were all taken from their homes and prob will never see their family again.

MC is also a servant.

One fine day 2 years ago that is shown in a flashback, it turns out Cendrillon-MC met the Prince Charming-Love Interest in the forest behind the house, did not recognise him as Prince, and gives him a Nickname. It is a very cute nickname. They become friends and slowly fall in love, meeting in the forest every month.

Anyway the ball is held for PC-LI to find a suitor. Associate grabs Last Kidnapped Boy (I'll call him E for shortness' sake) and makes him undergo training and shit to attract the Prince's attention. Upon hearing that the crown jewels of the royal family will be on display at the ball, MC, First Kidnapped Boy (A), and Second Kidnapped Boy (D) hatch a plan: sneak into the ball dressed as a guest and 2 guards, steal the crown jewels, and run away to another country, sell the jewels, and live happily ever after.

There is no fairy godmother but thats ok because A and D help MC finish making the dress and MC's Shiny Litten pulls up a pair of golden shoes for them, that once belonged to their parents. Hooray.

They sneak into the ball about a half hour after Associate (C) and E, thanks to the grocery boy who is like 10 but can steer carriages well enough. A and D go to Commit Crime and MC pigs out at the buffet. Then, MC goes off to the garden and meets, gasp, the Prince (M). Except MC thinks M is a guard at the palace, but they walk around the garden, fall more in love, and dance under the moonlight (best trope ever)

And then midnight, the agreed meeting time for Heist Trio, strikes. MC startles, and runs off, drops a golden shoe. An actual guard calls out to M with his actual title and MC is shooketh because the one they fell in love with was the Prince what the heck did not expect that. Prince M chases after (he is very fast) but E finds MC, and helps them by hiding them in a closet, and then E and MC meet up with A and D. To get home, E turns out to have wicked rapidash skills and drives them home, crown jewels and all.

The thing is, the next day, a guy from the palace appears, and says that an entourage will be by in a few hours or so to find the owner of the Golden Shoe. As Associate will kknow that the shoe is MC's parents', he'll know they snuck out to the ball last night and all three will get in trouble, so E drives A and D to the palace so they can steal the shoe back from the palace first. MC arrives right as they all get arrested and tossed into the dungeons because man those guards are efficient for ONCE.

And then MC meets M in his bedroom, M says sorry he didn't tell them earlier, and turns out A used sleight of hand to put the centerpiece of the crown jewels into MC's jacket pocket, and when MC returns the ring to M he proposes to them. They said yes hooray

MC's friends are a bit in shock that MC is now marrying the Prince but ultimately support them. Prince helps them find their families. Associate has already fled but MC doesn't care anymore. The ending was a bit rushed but man the storytelling, the descriptions and characterizations were super vivid. I liked it because the language was obviously helping along the romance (I love prose) and it had me shaking back and forth in my seat in glee because romance is the one genre i did not expect to like but here we are

Cater has much more in common with prince Hans than with Cinderella

a.k.a: I gave a random tought too much power now y'all should suffer with me.

Okay so A very popular theory for Cater is that he is twst stand in for Cinderella so first I think I need to explain why I don't think Cater is Cinderella first.

So the Cinderella theory centers itself in the idea that Cater's sisters are mean to him just like Cinderella's stepsisters are mean to her. Supplementary information is the fact that Riddle has to save Cater before the 12 am in the Halloween event (haven't read that one yet) and I've also seen the take that Cater is actually the blessing the faery godmother gives Cinderella (a lot of helpers, a dress to hide herself (like a mask to hide her true self)) just like Silver is the blessing/curse sleeping beauty received and not sleeping beauty herself.

This theory doesn't really make Cater fit cleanly in the rol of Cinderella. Firstly Cater's sisters aren't really cruel to him anymore, don't get me wrong they did a lot of damage to his mental health but Cater himself says that they are being more mindful of what he really wants to do instead of insisting on doing what they want. And while it is true that one of Cinderella's sister received a redemption that was after Cinderella got her happy ending, something Cater has not achieved yet.

He also doesn't work like the blessing of Cinderella, because it's a blessing? like silver's make sence bc it is both a blessing AND a curse.

All characters attending NRC are in some capacity antagonistic to the heroes in their original tales. Yes, even Kalim even tho he entered bia nepotism, the sultan was an obstacle Aladdin had to overcome so it makes sense he is here.

No metter if you believe Cater is the blessing or Cinderella himself it doesn't make sense for him to be in NRC and not Niege's school RSA

Also like Professor Trein I right there with a cat and two sons so-

Okay so like with that out of the way, please put on your tin foil hats and proceed to listen to me and my prince Hans theory.

In case you don't have Prince Hans from Forzen living rent free in your brain like I do here is what you need to know:

Hans is not from the same country as the rest of the main characters

He doesn't feel at home in his home

His family was very neglectful bc he was the youngest

He changes personalities to fit the people he is talking to (so he wears a mask to hide his true feelings)

First We know that contrary to the rest of the Heartslabyul dorm Cater is not from the Queendom of roses but from the shaftlands, although with how much he traveled he doesn't know anyone in the shaftlands (or like any place to be honest) And he himself has said he doesn't feel he had a place to call home before he entered NRC.

We don't exactly know if Cater's parent were emotionally neglectful of him but at the very least we know the favored his sisters above him growing up

I dont really have to explain the masking his true feeling and changing personalities to fit right? Almost everything Cater has ever done is for others to care about him and remember him even when he leaves but that never happens

Also "love is an open door" fits very well with Cater, the song is considered by many as Hans's villian song (since he doesn't really have a solo song rip 💔)

It also fits thematically? Frozen is about how shutting your emotions and true feelings is never the solution to your problems, only when you learn to really on other you can begin to heal.

Like it's not a perfect fit either, idk what the deal is with the sisters or abt Cater's unique magic (if I had to guess it could be a reference to the changing way Hans acts in the movie???) but idk this was fun

TLDR: 9 years later I'm still salty Hans didn't get a redemption arc and I'm projecting him into Cater, also read my theory cuz I had to rewatch Frozen for this 😔

A long post of generalised geography headcanons for the world of TWST complete with continents for my own personal needs.  The post divides locations by Continent.

Anyway why is there a homeland whose name is just the definition of a desert.

Continents (and ocean)

Errant - a western continent in Twisted Wonderland. Mzunguko - the second largest continent in Twisted Wonderland.   Yalmae - the largest continent in Twisted Wonderland.   Abíní - a continent West of Errant. Tridente Ocean - the largest ocean in Twisted Wonderland.

Errant

Rose Kingdom – a country in the western region of Errant. It isn’t a particularly large country, and traveling from it to its neighbouring countries is possible via buses or car. Crownsshire – a county in Rose Kingdom Crowns – the capital  of Crownsshire. It is the town Riddle, Trey, and Che’nya live in.  

Land of Pyroxene – a large country in Errant.  Known for its cold, snowy winters and history with legends pertaining to five of the Great Seven. Waldburg – province Vil’s family is from.  Largely influenced by another country within Errant. Argent – a province in Land of Pyroxene.   Verre – a city in Argent.  Trein and Cater are from here.  Félicité Cosmetics originates here. Miroir – a province in Land of Pyroxene.  Has a large outlet mall popular with fashion-lovers and shopaholics.  The Ténèbres brand originates here. Enchantée – a town in Miroir. Jack and Vargas live here, whilst Vil and his father move here. Scharlachrot - a province in Land of Pyroxene. Epel’s Village of Harvest resides here, and is famous for its widespread organic produce.

Isle of Lamentation – island country, its popularised global name is a translation from the isle’s original Nísos Thrínos.  It has robust technological advancements and is the homeland of the popular idol group On the Edge, known for having concerts with elaborate imagery and visual effects from some of the best technicians available.  Due to legends of the God of the Underworld,  dogs are extremely popular on the Isle of Lamentation. Kapnós – capital of the Isle of Lamentations where the Shroud family resides.  

Valley of Thorns – an isolated country small in population, largely consisting of a large mountain range.  The closer one is to where its Queen resides, the colder it gets.  It is said the Valley of Thorns can go weeks with nothing but moonlight. Geimhreadh - technically the name of the forest near the Valley of Thorns’ mountain range, where the Queen makes her home at its peak.  Its name spread to the residential areas nearby.

Mzunguko

Afterglow Savannah – country in Mzunguko,  ‘Afterglow’ acts as a loose translation of its name, Baadaye.  It lies in eastern Mzunguko.  Famous for its royal guards and leading role in nature conservation. Kiburi – a county in the east of the Afterglow Savannah. Mwamba – capital of Kiburi, where the Kingscholar royal family lives. Maisha – a county in Afterglow Savannah, with its capital sharing the same name.   Jioni – a town in Maisha.  Ruggie and his family live here.

Manyoya – county in Afterglow Savannah.  Well-known for a famously expansive library and a high population of avian beastfolk. Uzuri  – a city in Manyoya, where Rook is from.

Yalmae

Land of Hot Sands – one of many countries in the continent of Yalmae,.  Within the country, it’s referred to as Aldif’.  Rich with its magical history and origins of astrology, Aldif’ nurtures Magicians skilled in divination.  It has a vivid musical scene as well. Misbah - governate of Aldif’. Yatamanaa – capital of Misbah, a largely lucrative city within Aldif’ and city where Kalim and Jamil live.

Abíní

Port of Jubilee - a diverse nation where Sam’s family lives, owning an extensive emporium.  A vast amount of cultures reside in Port of Jubilee, many sharing common ancestors and languages with one another. Nanm - province in Port of Jubilee. Sekrè - port town in Nanm that Sam is from.  His family owns an impressive emporium popular with locals.

Tridente Ocean

Coral Sea - a sea within the Tridente Ocean.  Many of coastlines range across countries within Errant, Mzunguko, and Yalmae.  Beneath its waters lies a kingdom sharing the same name as the sea.

Errant - the continent of Errant has the homelands based off movies such as Alice in Wonderland, Snow White, Hercules, Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, and Cinderella.  The name stems from certain scenes in the movie marking a particular moment the protagonists feel out of place or stray off the expected course.

Alice in Wonderland: Alice’s misadventures begin when she makes the decision to follow a strange rabbit, straying off the course of simply reading and studying as her sister wished, where the curious and at worst annoying strange creatures and nature of Wonderland take a turn when she meets the Caterpillar, who questions Alice’s place and identity, and the stress of her situation and being unable to return home overwhelms her emotionally.

Snow White - the horrific moment Snow White, in a state of panic, rushes through a dark forest, where her fears envision hidden horrors within the trees and wildlife.

Hercules - after refusing to listen to Phil’s warnings about Megara being in cahoots with Hades, Hercules faces the devastating fact that Megara (reluctantly) deceived him, and loses his superhuman strength and faith in himself.

Sleeping Beauty - shortly after meeting a man she falls for, Aurora becomes devastated and resigned to her fate being betrothed to a complete stranger out of responsibility for her future and country.

Beauty and the Beast - Maurice’s ventures through a mysterious forest consequently leads him to the Beast’s castle in a desperate attempt to escape cold, only to be imprisoned by the Beast for intruding, ultimately putting the story into motion.  After Belle makes a deal to swap places with her father and free him, Belle starts off terrified and in over her head despite saving her father’s life.

Cinderella - after the mice’s hard work creating a fitting ballgown for Cinderella to enjoy the ball, her stepsisters ruin the dress and Cinderella’s chances of leaving her oppressive family’s home.  Her distress and tears lead her to meeting the Fairy Godmother.

Mzunguko - “circle” in Swahili, the language prominent in Lion King’s names, lyrics, and Rafiki’s dialogue, as well as the official language of Kenya, where much of the movie’s settings take inspiration and blatantly feature.  Taken from the iconic “Circle of Life” song.

Tridente Ocean - “trident” in Italian.  Yes, I hear you.  The author is from Denmark.  The statue is in Denmark.  The movie references the statue in Denmark.  However the surname Ashengrotto and Azul’s mother running a ristorante screams Italian and there’s the overall edgy mafia vibe the Octatrio has going on.  I win this one.

Yalmae -  “shine” in Arabic (يلمع).  I wanted a name that illustrated the vibrant, lively diversity of the continent’s many countries, cultures, flora, and fauna.  Something akin to a name that inspires a welcoming feeling.

Abíní - “morning” in Navajo.  I wanted a name that inspires energy and enthusiasm, like a sunrise in summer.

Rose Kingdom

Crownsshire - just the most painfully English name I could think of.  “Crown” refers to, naturally, the crown of the Queen of Hearts.  Also decided to make the Rose Kingdom its own, smaller, more limited country, instead of allowing its apparent monarchy to leech off 20+ different countries Crowns - do you have any idea how genuinely shocking it is we don’t actually have a town here named this.

Afterglow Savannah

Baadaye - “afterglow” in Swahili.  The official and native name of the Afterglow Savannah.  Interestingly, my findings found translations of it meaning “future” as well, which I consider fitting. Kiburi - “pride” in Swahili, can refer to a ‘pride of lions’ or confidence (often overconfidence). Mwamba - “rock” in Swahili, alluding to the Pride Rock that Mufasa’s pride resides in. Maisha - “life” in Swahili. Jioni - “evening” in Swahili.  This refers to where anywhere the sun doesn’t reach, Simba shouldn’t wander, because it’s too dangerous. Originally, I wanted to go with “Kivuri”, which means “shadow”.  However when I went to double check that ‘shadowland’ was a thing in Lion King, referring to where the Elephant Graveyard is, it’s actually a song from the Broadway musica called “Shadowland”, sung by Nala (Heather Headley). It both mourns the desolate state of the Pridelands under Scar’s tyranny, and narrates Nala’s resolve to leave and find a way to save her people and their land.  The song is absolutely gorgeous, solemn, and powerful, and contributes more than any live-action CGI Disney movie could ever come up with.  Its instrumental composition features the melody lei-motif prominent in the animated film (yes, That song.  the heartbreaking one).  It’s one of my favourites in Lion King alongside “He Lives in You” and “Not One of Us” because I like the ones where the chorus goes off. Please just listen to the Lion King Broadway soundtrack it makes me cry with how gorgeous and heartfelt it is.   Anyway in their money-grubbing ways I hope Disney puts the Broadway on Disney+ so some brave soul takes one for the team to pirate it Manyoya - intended to mean “feather”, but to my understanding it also encompasses “fur”. Uzuri - “beauty” in Swahili.  Nothing too deep here, just something pertaining to Rook.

Land of Hot Sand

Aldif’ - “warmth” in Arabic (الدفء).  Meant to allude to a comforting warmth, kind of hinting that the popularisation of “Land of Hot Sand” more or less leaves the official name lost in translation. Misbah - “lamp/light” in Arabic (مصباح), naturally referencing the magical lamp sought after throughout the movie. Yatamanaa - “wish” in Arabic (يتمنى).  Meant to be bit a bit of a cheeky play on words.  The “wish” inside the “lamp”.

Land of Pyroxene

Waldburg - Wald is "forest” in German.   References the forest that Snow White runs away into after being warned of the Evil Queen’s intentions. Argent - “silver” in French.  References Cinderella’s silver dress. Verre - “glass” in French.  References Cinderella’s glass slipper. Miroir - “mirror” in French.  References both the Mirror of Snow White and the enchanted mirror Beast gives Belle. Enchantée - “enchanted” in French.  Ties into the theme of enchantments, curses, and charms prominent in French fairy tales, and specifically makes me think of the Enchanted Rose from Beauty and the Beast.   Scharlachrot - “scarlet” in German.  References the red colour that hides the infamous green of the poison apple’s true nature.

Nísos Thrínos - Greek for the isle’s name. Kapnós - “smoke” in Greek.  References Hades’ iconic appearance surrounded by black smoke.

so what do you think the twst ver of disney prince's are gonnabe like?? they dont have much personality other then charming so im curious about it i like to imagine them being like the quintessential quintuplets (im assuming theyre going to be female since the rsa cast is mostly male but any gender is fine) but what do you think raven-chan?

I don't think the Disney princes will necessarily be female, as we have seen characters that were female in the Disney originals and left as female for their TWST versions (the most notable examples being Cinderella's stepsisters/Trein's two grand daughters and Jafar's sister/Najma).

Since Disney has a large line up of princes, I'm not going to go through each one and theorize otherwise this post would be MASSIVE, but I don't think they'll be one-note or just "charming". TWST has had a good rep of writing fleshed out and three-dimensional characters for the core NRC cast, so I think if they decide to introduce the princes or make them the central focus of the next arc (following Diasomnia's chapter), the new characters would have to be as fleshed out as the original 22 boys.

I think a cool direction to go with for the princes would be presenting them initially as perfect, almost untouchable people (maybe to the point of blandness) and then slowly letting us unwind the intricacies to their own inner turmoil. Like maybe one of the princes actually feels a lot of pressure to maintain that "perfect" façade, so they feel like they need to conceal their emotional distress. That way, no one is disappointed in them--but their mental health takes a toll because of it. This is just one of many possibilities!

Royal Sword Academy Headcanons

Okay, so I literally made this account just so I could make this long-ass, badly written twst post and I’m fine with that.

So, most of us can guess that RSA is centered around the Disney Princesses, since they are the direct opposite Disney brand to the villains. Which also means that it won’t be all based on the same movies as NRC, and they will only probably be based on official Disney princesses. I am nowhere near as creative and talented as Yana Toboso so I can accept that not all of these will come true. Disclaimer: this was first written after the first part of Pomefiore chapter was released, so I may update this.

Schneewittchen was founded upon the kindness of The Fairest of All. Their gems are red.

Neige Leblanche (Snow White): Dorm leader, 2nd year. A well known celebrity and voted as the “fairest of all” for several years. With a lack of parental figures in his life, he has coped by being a parental figure to everyone else. He is very motherly and kind and treats everyone, including his classmates, like his own children. Unfortunately, this can make him overbearing and condescending to his dorm members. He believes that he knows best for everyone, making him authoritative and controlling. His favorite “children” are a group of seven dwarfs in his dorm. When the other students confront him on his issues, he overblots. His unique magic is “Smile and a Song” and allows him to talk to animals.

Frederich Brunnen (Prince): Vice dorm leader, 2nd year. A very quiet and stoic boy, he carries out the orders of his “princess” to keep Neige’s “children” in line. Deep down, he disagrees with the way Neige treats them, and so he secretly lets them get away with some things that would usually warrant a seat in the corner of the room without supper. Secretly harbors a crush towards Neige.

Cendrillon is founded on the hope of The Cinder Maid. Their gems are white.

Ash Trein (Cinderella): Dorm leader, 2nd year. He’s not actually supposed to be an RSA student, his fairy godfather simply cast a spell that got him accepted into the school. When he was young, his mother died and his father took a new husband, who had two older daughters of his own. Then his own father died, so his stepfather had to work extra to provide for the family and Ash had to take care of the house alone while his stepfather and stepsisters were at school. He has a very low opinion of himself, and believes he deserves less and doesn’t work hard enough because of how hard his stepfamily has to work, so he got himself into a good school so he could also provide for his family. He frequently cleans and works himself to exhaustion so he feels like he’s contributing something. Eventually all his stress from all the work he does boils over and he overblots. His unique magic is “A Dream is a Wish” which lets him enchant cleaning tools to move by themselves.

Charmant Fête (Prince Charming): Dorm Leader, 2nd year. One of the most popular kids, his outward personality makes him seem like a strong, aggressive jock, which conceals his true interests and feelings. He comes from a noble family, and was taught and pressured by his father to be tough and unemotional, and he is expected to marry a noble princess, even though he isn’t attracted to women. He secretly loves dancing and singing, although the arts is considered womanly in his family. He has recently grown a companionship with his lovely and gentle prefect. His unique magic lets him magically find the owners of lost objects.

Faith Fairwife (Fairy Godmother): 1st year. He is a fairy godfather who has chosen Ash Trein as his godson. He used his magic to help Ash attend RSA, although he went a bit overboard with the makeover, causing Ash’s appearance to turn more heads than Ash would’ve liked. At heart, he is a 300 year old theatre kid and loves nothing more than to make his godson look more fabulous than anyone else with sparkles and glitter. His true wish is for is godson to realize his own self-worth and that he doesn’t have to be everyone’s servant, but he can’t say it directly because it is fairy godparent law that a godchild must learn their character development by themself. His unique magic, “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo”, allows him to transform anything until the stroke of midnight.

Briarbosse was founded on the grace of The Sleeping Beauty. Their gems are pink.

Jour Rosamund (Aurora): Dorm leader, 3rd year, and probably a stoner. His boyfriend is Florimund Désiré. He is extremely lazy and agreeable, and is often napping or daydreaming. His lack of drive stems from his lack of confidence in himself, even though he’s incredibly skilled and managed to duel his way into becoming dorm leader. Due to all of the stress, he overblots. His unique magic is “Prick My Finger”, which knocks him unconscious and makes him immune to all attacks until he can be woken up, which can take a long time, and sometimes he can even cast spells in his sleep.

Florimund Désiré (Phillip): Vice dorm leader, 3rd year. He is Jour’s boyfriend. When he’s not cuddling and/or napping with Jour, which is very rare because he seems to be always napping, he is actually a very athletic horse rider and swordsman. He prides himself on being a “knight in shining armor” to his true love. He and Jour like to daydream together, and talk about what their future might be like with each other. Unlike Jour however, Florimund actually has ambitions, and dreams to be a world famous fencer, and often regrets enabling his boyfriend’s unfulfilling lifestyle. His unique magic is “True Love’s Kiss” which lets him blow kisses that heal injuries.

Trideltis was founded on the curiosity of The Little Mermaid. Their gems are aqua green.

Rielle Sidon (Ariel): Dorm leader, 2nd year. He is the prince of the Coral Sea, and has six older brothers. Even though RSA’s carriage showed up to him, his father wouldn’t let him go because he’s racist against humans, so he made a deal to keep his father convinced he was at a merschool, in exchange for his voice, rendering his unique magic useless. He is extremely fascinated with human culture, but gets his information from incredibly unreliable sources, so he often gets things confused, like using his haircomb to eat food, or having the wrong words for things, or not understanding the concept of shirts. He is a very headstrong and stubborn idiot, and does whatever he wants to do, and you absolutely cannot stop him. Because of his newfound muteness, which he has trouble getting used to, he has to speak entirely by text to speech. When he isn’t mute, he’s actually quite talkative and has a beautiful, melodious voice, making him one of the best singers in the world. He has developed a crush on his vice prefect. Once his father finds out and comes to take him home, he will overblot. His unique magic, “Siren’s Song”, lets him hypnotize other people by singing.

Edward Colins (Eric): Vice dorm leader, 2nd year. He is an adventurous and carefree young man from a royal family, and often ignores his royal duties so he can run off and have fun, usually on his yacht. He wants to be a marine biologist when he’s older and to explore the ocean. He often likes to ask his merman vice prefect questions about his home. His unique magic lets him breathe underwater.

Horatio Crustacea (Sebastian): 3rd year. He is a crab merman, who used to be the court musician, but made a terrible oversight during a performance, disgracing his entire career and having him demoted to be the babysitter of the youngest prince. As much as he genuinely cares for him, to the point of helping him trick the king, he dreams of being free of being responsible for the well-being of some rich kid only two years younger than him and to become the best conductor in the world, and is always practicing with the light music club when he has time. He’s usually following his master’s son around, reprimanding him and telling him not to do something even though he never listens. He’s very fond of Breaker because at least he has a sense of self-preservation, and he looks on him like a little brother. His unique magic lets him control the sounds of objects around him to create music.

Breaker Guppy (Flounder): 1st year. He is Rielle’s best friend and a rather timid merman, and often tries to dissuade Rielle’s adventurous and dangerous habits, but ends up being dragged along with him. He’s terrified of pretty much everything, from sharks, abandoned shipwrecks, Azul, Horatio, the king, etc. He wants to be brave like Rielle, and always comes along on his adventures to teach himself how to be courageous. He is currently assisting Rielle in pairing him up with the dorm leader.

Bellabete was founded on the intelligence of The Beauty of the Beast. Their gems are gold.

Beau Belmont (Belle): Dorm leader, 3rd year. He is autistic and comes from a small village and is the son of a poor and eccentric inventor. He grew up bullied and disrespected by the other boys in his hometown because he preferred to read and help his father with inventions instead of playing football or whatever jocks are supposed to do, making him develop a very introverted personality and social anxiety. He spends most of his time by himself in the library, and he gets lost in his reading so much that he accidentally walks in places he’s not supposed to be in. Like his father, he is a very resourceful inventor and likes to tinker with mechanical devices that he's probably not supposed to touch. He is the first student who isn’t a servant to willingly approach Bête. At first, he didn’t like him because his large, excessively masculine appearance reminded him of his childhood bullies, but he learned that he is more than meets the eye, and could sometimes be a very soft person. Rumors spread around the school insist that he’s just a gold digger, because what other reason would you have to love a beast? Though he’s mostly a very non-violent person, if anyone dares to talk badly about his friend, he is going to throw hands. Eventually, all the bullying cracks him, he has a meltdown, and overblots. His unique magic allows him to summon a magic hand mirror that can show him anything in the world.

Bête Villeneuve (Beast): Vice dorm leader, 3rd year. He is the son of a very wealthy lord, and has many servants. He is incredibly tall and large, and oddly hairy for his age. He often wards off other people, making him a loner. He is extremely self conscious about his threatening appearance, and barely ever leaves his room. He is quite bitter and has a short temper, because if people think you’re a monster, you might as well act like one, right? The only people who he has ever let be within 6 feet of him are his servants, and the only one he allows to be within 3 feet is his prefect, who doesn’t care about what he looks like, but often argues with him about his anger issues, and yet he has grown a fondness for him, and eventually lets himself change for his sake. His unique magic, “Prince’s Curse”, allows him to shape-shift into a giant hairy, horned monster with the physical traits of several animals.

Jean Candélabre (Lumiere): 2nd year. He is one of Bête’s servants, although is rebellious nature makes him ignore or disobey his duties. He is a playboy, and has had multiple girlfriends, most of whom were the maids. He is the ultimate party boy, often throwing massive banquets in the dorm when his master is gone. He is one of the popular kids because of his charming personality, but he’s certainly not stupid. He always knows how to stir up a crowd or bring attention to himself, and successfully make sure that the master never finds out about his parties. He is especially skilled in fire magic. His best friend and exact opposite is Domo, who he often likes to make fun of.

Domo Cocteau (Cogsworth): 1st year. He is one of Bête’s servants, and is very dedicated to his job. He is quite uptight and doesn’t tolerate any form of nonsense, always trying to end Jean’s parties in fear of the master’s wrath and strives his best to balance being a model student and being a model servant, although his best friend keeps trying to get him to take it easy and relax for a bit.

Agranate is founded on the independence of The Sultan’s Daughter. Their gems are turquoise.

Badr Al-Asim (Jasmine): Dorm leader, 3rd year. One of the sons of the Asim family and Kalim’s younger brother. Because of his beauty, his father wants to marry him off to another rich family. Because his father doesn’t care enough to bother, he makes Kalim tell Badr about potential wealthy suitors and what his father wants him to do. Because his father is essentially speaking via Kalim, he associates his oppressive situation with his brother, even though Kalim is really only the messenger. Going to school is one of the first times he’s actually ever been out of his palace, because his father doesn’t let him leave as punishment for never accepting the marriages and scaring away the suitors. He is quite observant, and has quickly assessed the fact that he has grown up with privileges and wealth that most people don’t have, and has begun to give money to poorer students and donating to charities using the money that his father made him bring to school. What he wants most of all is to be free from his family, especially his father, and to not be forced to marry anyone. Once Kalim visits the school, telling him that their father is forcing him out of school to marry a noble lady, he snaps and overblots. His unique magic allows him to magically conjure a tiger to fight his opponent.

Mustaph Shahrzad (Aladdin): Vice dorm leader, 2nd year. Was originally a thief from the streets of the Land of Hot Sands, and grew up poor and without parents. He found a magic lamp and asked the genie inside it to make him a student at RSA and become incredibly wealthy, leaving him currently with only one wish left. He tries to use his newfound wealth to impress his dorm leader, whom he wanted to woo for his money, but eventually he learned to love him for who he is instead of what he has. He is very acrobatic, able to swing and leap from roof to roof, which was very useful in his days as a thief, and now is used to escape fights with other students. His best friend is his genie, nicknamed “JinJin”, who assists him in his pursuit of the prefect’s heart, but he is very conflicted about what to do with his final wish, because if he uses it to free his genie from his servitude, all of his wishes will be undone, endangering his relationship with his dorm leader, and the genie has made it clear that he won’t redo the spell, but if he doesn’t free him, he will be trapped as a slave forever. He is acrobatic and incredibly talented at riding magic carpets.

Jinn Djinn “JinJin” (Genie): First year. He is an ancient genie who has been bonded to the magic lamp for millennia, forcing him to grant three wishes to the lamp’s owner. His current master has been kinder than his previous ones, since he has actually decided to be friends with Jinn and has considered using his third wish to free him. Even though he fully supports his master’s crush on the dorm leader, he disagrees with his methods and argues that he should tell the truth to him. His personality is bursting with energy and full of life, and one of the most chaotic and spontaneous students. He loves to entertain other people, and uses his powers to make a big, flashy introduction about himself whenever he meets other people. His unique magic is “Three Wishes”, and allows him to bend reality to his will to grant any wish demanded by his master.

Froschkong was founded on the diligence of The Frog Princess. Their gems are green.

Chase Emeralda (Tiana): Dorm leader, 3rd year. He is a cook and one of the most promising students at RSA, having worked his way to the top by continuously building his magic skill, and becoming dorm leader. His dream is to turn his small restaurant, The Lily Pad, into a successful, world-spanning organization that will serve his food to people across the globe. He never has much time to sit back and take a break, always studying late into the night, perfecting his recipes, or saving up money from his many jobs. He grew up in the slums, and had to work himself to the bone in order to strengthen his magic, support his family, and get accepted into RSA. He is friends with Maddy, a rich kid who his mother worked for as a maid. This friendship has become quite strained, due to his resentment that his best friend had so much privilege and opportunity, while he was born with nothing. He is even more resentful to his vice prefect, a carefree and lazy prince. However, the prince has shown that he can change and do actual work, so he often has fun teaching him how to cook, and they’ve become close friends. Because of his philosophy, he forces the students of the dorm to do back-breaking work at The Lily Pad (he gives them reasonable pay at least). He isn’t very social, because of all the work he does, and has an issue of blocking himself off from other people. All the stress from work and the confrontations from his friends about his philosophy makes him overblot. His unique magic allows him to summon a swarm of fireflies.

Heinrich Eisen (Naveen): Vice dorm leader, 3rd year. He is a prince with a careless and easygoing demeanor, and doesn’t really enjoy work since he grew up with all the work being done for him, making other students question why he was even sorted into this dorm in the first place. He is actually a very fast learner, and can pick up skills quite easily, if they’re taught properly of course. This trait of his is first brought out by Chase, and he learned to see the potential in himself that no one else saw, and came to consider him as a close friend, if not more. He enjoys throwing parties and testing out the dorm leader’s food. His unique magic lets him turn into a frog.

Maddy Pouffe (Lottie): 1st year. He is Chase’s best friend, and Chase’s mother worked for his family as a maid. He is incredibly rich, and he grew up with fairytales and stories of princesses and knights. He never quite identified with the knights as a child and liked the princesses more, with their large pink poofy aesthetics. He always dreams of being swept away by a handsome prince, and wishes for it every day on his wishing star that he shares with Chase. He’s practically a male southern belle, due to his bouncy and fun loving nature and how he dresses very femininely. He is very approachable and generous, and likes to just throw money at people, which is how he shows affection. Despite being best friends with Chase, he is very oblivious to his situation and poverty, and always acts like the world is perfectly fine and happy for everyone. He supports Chase’s restaurant dream, although he doesn’t quite understand the appeal of making food instead of just eating it.

The Player, Mee, would attend an abandoned dorm infested by small friendly mice. They would be attended by a small dog-monster named Perrault. Instead of Mickey being seen through the mirror, you would see Minnie.

Albani Lief ~ Soft Introduction

Hello everyone!

Introducing a new oc today. Honestly, I've been debating for a while whether or not I was going to give her a proper profile since even though this girl does exist in my twst oc universe, she only shows up in Ione’s overblot AU. I still might in the future but for now, this will suffice.

Albani is a future Heartslabyul student twisted from the white rose from Alice in Wonderland. Her name comes from the Latin word "alba", meaning white. She will enter NRC a year after the current freshmen. She's also Crisanta's stepsister, younger by two years. She was actually born while Crisanta's parents were still married and her existence was one of the catalysts for their divorce, among other things.

Because of this, she and Crisanta have had an extremely contentious relationship for their entire lives. Crisanta understandably blames Albani (and her mother) for her broken home life and her own mother's anguish. Albani for her part is indifferent to Crisanta's feelings and doesn't understand why she hates her so much. To her mind, her mother was her father's true love so their divorce shouldn't matter. It’s implied that she doesn’t know that her father cheated on Crisanta’s mother nor her own mothers hand in tearing them apart. Things only become worse between them when Albani comes to NRC and is sorted in the same dorm as her stepsister.

Personally wise, Albani is very sophisticated and generally a nice person, to the people she likes at least. But thanks to her mothers spoiling and her father’s enabling, she’s incredibly proud of her magical heritage and is kind of a brat. She looks down on Ione and is very jealous of her position in the Black Swans. She ends up having a major role in Ione's overblot AU.

After a scandal forces Ione to leave the Black Swans in her sophomore year, Albani is chosen as her replacement because of her very strong vocal talent. Unfortunately, her attitude immediately clashes with the other members. She openly expresses jealousy of Danica’s relationship with Vil, and frequently argues with Iman over who should take center in their choreography. The only reason she isn’t kicked out right away is because Ione leaves the Black Swans a month before that years VDC and they have no time to find a more agreeable replacement. Unfortunately, Albani’s presence only makes the groups unstable foundation worse when Crisanta also eventually leaves the group for a second time.

I wrote this for myself to try and organize my current theories on TWST, but I might as well keep this blog going even though I’m out of ideas for card maker memes.

This is basically a rant that starts out with theorizing about RSA, the Cater=Cinderella theory, and Split Card, but then spirals into a Cater character analysis.

For anyone who doesn’t know the Cinderella theory, it’s basically just Cater might have something to do with Cinderella because he has two bossy sisters, and during the ghost marriage there was this whole thing where Riddle needs to rescue Cater before midnight because of some Queen of Hearts rule. 

Spoilers for Cater’s personal stories (including his halloween outfit story) and chat, and chapter 4 of the main story. Okay now let’s get into it. Over 1,800 words geez what am I doing with my life

   Aight so Ace and Deuce don't have their unique magics yet and there is obviously Something going on with Cater so it really makes me think that we're gonna return to Heartslabyul somewhere down the line. We know there's gotta be more stuff with RSA, so that might tie into the Cater = Cinderella theory. Maybe we have a chapter focusing on RSA and Cater will be the main focus or ally for that. IDK man, I'm still kind of eh on the Cinderella theory cause it makes a lot of sense but we already have Mozus being the evil stepmother. Him and Cater are from the same hometown (?) but my concern is that if Cater is a main focus and he gets connected to Mozus then Mozus would also be in the spotlight which would be odd given how nothing seems to suggest that the teachers (except Crowley) getting bigger roles in the story. However, it could always be a situation like with Farena where Mozus is there and some sort of connection is briefly discussed but he isn't important and maybe someone else takes the role of evil stepmother in the story.

   Ok idk so we're gonna go back to Cater. If the Cinderella theory is true, we gotta consider how exactly Cater represents Cinderella. Does he represent Cinderella in the way that he's twisted from her (ex. Azul & Ursula) or that he just takes the role of Cinderella for a chapter (ex. Azul & The Genie)? The fact that he uses dark magic points to it being the latter, that he really is twisted from a card soldier. However, we gotta consider 1. the nature of his unique magic 2. the plot of Cinderella. Though we know he has the ability to clone himself, we don't know how exactly this works. Are the clones identical, or do/can they have differences? In episode 1-15, the Cater clones all have slightly different responses ("はーい" "まかせて！" "おっけー♪") to getting ready to paint the roses. Given how clones don't exist in real life, it's impossible to tell whether this variation indicates actual differences in personality, is just due to the clones' slightly different experiences (like a sort of butterfly effect), or if it's just a decision by the writer so they aren't repetitive. Another thing to note is that in that same episode Cater claims that cloning himself is tiring. If this is the only source for this information, there's the possibility that it just was a lie to let him manipulate the 1st years into helping him paint. Finally, Cater's ability makes me think of Twice from BNHA. Can only the original Cater create clones? Or is he like Twice in that his clones can also make clones, therefore making it impossible for anyone, including himself, to tell who is the original?

  What I'm getting at here is the possibility of Cater having clones that 1. stick around permanently and 2. are significantly different than him. This would create the possibility of him being twisted from both the card soldiers and Cinderella, but he is able to use his clone ability to split up those aspects of himself. One Cater is the card soldier one normally walking around NRC and who has dark magic, but then there's another Cinderella Cater who has light magic. Assuming this is what is going on, it would kind of connect to his two-sided personality, where he presents his bubbly, social-media addict personality to the world but has another, depressed, more private personality underneath. 

  Now, getting into what I mentioned before about the plot of Cinderella, Cinderella normally looks like a humble servant. However, with the aid of the fairy godmother, she completely transforms herself into a breathtaking princess so she can go to the ball. However, once the clock strikes midnight, she transforms back. Basically, Cinderella has the ability of transformation, to have two completely different versions of herself. One version is her true, plain self, while the other is a flashy deception. This information strengthens what I just said about Cater's personality and clone ability.

  Actually, just going into Cater's personality for a bit (yeah, “a bit” lol)... He has a big focus on always being presentable. In his lab coat, he seems pretty desperate to hide all evidence of his true self, claiming that he just failed at putting his magic in the depressed mandrake and then hiding all his other mandrakes aside from the fun ones. This desperation is similar to Cinderella's, with how she flees the ball in a hurry once it reaches midnight so no one will see how she truly looks once the spell breaks. Now, why do Cater and Cinderella behave the way they do? I don't remember Cinderella's exact motivations for attending the ball, but wikipedia says that she had to flee the ball because if the spell broke there she could get caught by her stepmother & stepsisters. What is Cater's "ball"? Well, because of his strong social media presence, his "ball" is basically everywhere, all the time. If something happens on social media that exposes his true self, breaking his "spell", not only can other students see it, but his sisters can also see it.

  Cater hates sucking up to his older sisters, which implies that he has had to suck up to his older sisters and put up his happy front around them too. Just like how Cinderella can't afford to let her stepsisters realize her true identity at the ball, Cater can't afford to let his sisters realize his true self. It's honestly kind of sad; unlike Cinderella, whose stepsisters only showed up later in her life, Cater's older sisters have been around him and making him miserable for all of his life.

  Kinda unrelated, but looking though Cater's chats, in the one he has with Trey they talk about the Queen of Hearts and her love for sweets, Cater remarks that he wants to have tea with her too, leading Trey to say that Cater would be unable to befriend her since they're in different social classes. Isn't this basically a genderbent version of Cinderella, just a commoner, wanting to go to the ball where the Prince is? 

  Now going back to Cater's personality. Even if he does fear his sisters, that doesn't seem to fully explain his 24/7 pep and focus on being magicammable. Now, what if we say that happiness=nobility. In Cinderella, she dresses up like nobility so she can remain in the ball where the actually rich people are. What if Cater is acting happy so he can fit in with the people around him, who are naturally happy enough that they don't need to fake it? Is this a fake it until you make it situation? At the end of his ceremony robes story, after he says he's tired and doesn't care about the ceremony, he says he's just kidding and goes back to talking about the selfies he took that day. Even though he's alone and wouldn't really get hurt for dropping his performance. It gives the vibe to me that his situation is not like Jamil's, where he's fully aware he's unhappy, deliberately acts otherwise in front of others, and tries to eliminate the cause of his unhappiness. Instead, Cater is trying to eliminate his unhappiness itself. He grasps onto magicam because if he fills up his account with pictures of a happy life, it's like he's actually living a happy life.

  This idea I have of Cater trying to fit in also goes along with his focus on the current trends, like in one of his gym uniform voice lines where he panics at the idea of not knowing about a new popular game. Rather than making his own aesthetics or trends, he goes along with the crowd. Sweets and desserts are trendy? Then he'll take tons of pictures of them and say they're super delicious even if he actually hates sweet food. He disregards or evades his own preferences to create the appearance that he's just like everyone else, and he puts effort into staying up to date so he can maintain that appearance.

  Moving on, I reread his halloween outfit personal story. Something that stuck out was the end, when Cater thinks that Lilia wouldn't understand what he's going through. Specifically, Lilia wouldn't understand his 下らなくてどーしよーもない feelings. According to jisho, 下らない can mean trivial/not worth bothering with/worthless, and it can also mean stupid/absurd/silly. Then, どーしよーもない (どうしようもない)  means something that can't be helped, that has no way out of it. Doesn't this seem kind of odd? That he claims his feelings are just trivial then but also he can't help having them? Is this a contradiction? Or is it something like he believes that most people wouldn't have these silly feelings but he specifically is too weak to push past them?

  For self-esteem though, he seems to at least be trying to boost it. Like in his gym uniform story, when he decides to just clone himself and have each one run 1 lap instead of him running 5 by himself, his clones all praise him for the idea. However, this could be a fake it until you make it thing again. The praise does seem a bit heavy-handed. 

  There's also the whole thing in the 2nd part of the story where he talks about all the shallow friendships he has made. He notes that he'd rather have a casual time with people rather than get attached. That plus his family situation... means he's really never had anyone to trust. Anyway, he then goes on to talk about how magicame is amazing for helping him maintain all these casual friendships. So there we have another reason for his social media addiction: not only does it let him create a picture of happiness, he can get tons of feedback affirming his happiness and serving as proof of happiness. How can he possibly be lonely if he has so many friends?

  Both in his ceremony robes and halloween outfit stories have a moment where Cater is tired and admits he's tired but then downplays it. Yeah, the ceremony was tiring, but he got tons of great pictures out of it! Yeah, dealing with guests was rough, but at the same time all the halloween stuff was exciting! This sort of thing is a pretty common strategy for increasing the persuasiveness of an argument. By first agreeing (yes, he's tired) with the opposing view (he is not happy), he can then push his own view (he is happy) and point at his earlier concession as proof that he has looked at both sides of the issue instead of only looking for evidence of his own belief. 

 So basically what I'm getting here is that Cater Is Not Okay. Prevented from building close bonds with friends or family, he's reinforcing his isolation himself through his fervent efforts to never let anyone close and never let his mask drop. He's gone so far as to try and convince himself that he's happier than he actually is through self-deception and social media.
