Foegive me of this is a question you've answered in the past but, what are your thoughts on the scene at the beginning of Avengers 1 where Loki sort of doubles over/trips on his way out of the SHIELD base and it's never addressed?
Also thoughts on the canonicity of various myths to the MCU Loki backstory?
no worries, I don't mind answering questions twice. My blog is long and tales tales, so I understand if people don't want to hunt for answers and just reask stuff.
as far as your question goes,
SCREAMING SCREAMING SCREAMING. Do you KNOW how much I LOVE that SCENE (the answer is no because I haven't talked about it) but I LOVE THAT SCENE! That is THE scene to me. I love everything about how carefully it's handled because what you have to look for is SUBTEXT here, because the Avengers was written in a way that forces you to think. It doesn't lay everything out for you, it's intended you come to your own conclusions.
The Avengers trusts you and that is a very strange thing for media now. It's pretty rare to find one that doesn't treat you like an idiot.
Breaking this down:
The first frame with Loki is of him kneeling. That is the first thing we learn about him. I want you guys to remember that the introduction of a character is HUGE. It tells us the most important things for us to know about that character right now
So what do we need to know about Loki RIGHT THEn. Right at the start of the movie?
he's smart. He opened the portal with the Tesseract, from across space, and teleported himself to another planet. This is something no one has replicated (using an infinity stone from across space). Loki is said to "know it's workings like they never will" which says a lot about him.
Loki was GIVEN the scepter by the Chitauri, but if you watch that opening opening scene, it looks more like it's being forced on him than him GLADLY taking it. (There's this half second where the Other waits to make sure Loki is actually going to hold it. Loki doesn't reach for it until he has to. One of the most powerful objects in existence and it practically has to be shoved into his hands) Look how close their bodies are. Like bro???
-okay, then Loki comes through the portal and he is KNEELING. so the first, and I mean the VERY FIRST thing we need to know about Loki is that he is in the subservience of someone/thing else. This gif below is artwork of that moment, but still. Like. who do you think he's kneeling TO? Well, the opening scene of the Avengers showcases that the Other is kneeling to Thanos, Ergo, using the subtext trust that the director/writers have given us, that means Loki was kneeling to Thanos before he came through the portal.
And then, Loki comes out like a hunted animal, but he legitimately does not remember he's holding the scepter until Fury points it out to him. You can see him look down at it in confusion. And okay, WHY is he confused? I remember watching this for the first time at 14 and going huh, that's kinda weird he forgot he had the weapon. What this is trying to tell us is that this is not a familiar weapon to Loki AND -- it is doing something to him. It's emitting that same misty thing that it does when Loki possesses someone later. That wispy smoke is always so interesting to me because of the implications. The scepter doesn't do that unless it is FRESHLY possessing someone. And what do we know about Loki TWO SECONDS AGO?
he was kneeling to thanos.
Anyway, so Loki gives his name, is not a well man, and the scene you're actually referring to is this one:
which GETS ME EVERY TIME. I could talk aout this scene for hours. The implications of it. (Also if you've read my work YSFSLWFTCA, that man who grabs Loki's back is Nathan Swenson ;)
So I've been getting professional acting training for about 6-7 months now and one thing I have learned is that nothing makes it in the movie by accident. The director has to approve it, the editor, the producer, up the whole food chain. This was not Tom Hiddleston sneezing and then them keeping it in the movie because it's funny. So this was put in on purpose. They WANTED you to know that Loki isn't okay. And a scene like this would get like what? idk 3-6 takes at a minimum, which means that they flimed this ON PURPOSE 3-6 times. Tom Hiddleston was instructed to do this ON PURPOSE. That guy who approaches Loki's back was told to do that ON PURPOSE. Loki was supposed to be shown to be a mess physically. Like. Then they go and KEEP doing this later, when Loki can't get into the car and can barely keep himself upright. Loki doesn't start to look "okay" until Germany and even then he's not doing amazing.
What's interesting to me, beyond the obvious implications toward bodily harm - torture! :) - is the timing. Loki immediately topples when Clint hands the Tesseract to Selvig. There's something about Clint doing that that seems to cause him physical pain. That could be a coincidence, and I bet it is because it's not brought up again in the movie that the Tesseract exchanging hands gives Loki physical pain, but it is interesting.
Another interesting point is that Clint looks away, Selvig doesn't care, but that sheild agent Immediately moves up to put his hand on Loki's back to support him. And Loki doesn't flinch. That always struck me as weird, right, because even people who don't have trauma flinch when someone touches their back and they weren't expecting it. And Loki clearly wasn't? So why didn't he twitch at least a little? Tom Hiddleston is too good of an actor for that to be a mistake.
So to me that means that Loki just... doesn't have feeling in his spine at that moment. Or he was in too much pain to even register it. Loki was clearly tortured with some type of heat. If you watch him in this scene he's displaying all the signs of heat exhaustion. So I kinda think that maybe Loki got burned so badly on his back before this happened that he just... doesn't feel anything anymore. It had to have been recent for walking to nearly send him toppling, but Loki's back is a source of issues for the entire movie.
That is why this scene is here from a directing perspective. to SET UP Loki's back problems. The extent of them are left vague, but I think when Tom Hiddleston and Joss Whedon sat down to talk about Loki for the Avengers, one of the things they must have agreed on was that Loki was not in good physical condition and they planned to show that THE ENTIRE MOVIE. I don't know if they talked about torture or Thanos, but they talked about SOMETHING.
But I just...idk. That guy grabs Loki's back to support him in an effort to help and it's just so interesting to me. Because how does the mind control WORK then? Selvig is obsessed with the Tesseract. He almost seems possessed by that rather than Loki. Clint goes completely silent and doesn't do anything except the mission. THIS GUY immediately comes to take care of Loki, and Loki himself is ruthlessly efficient with one goal in his mind. So it's interesting. Subtext! :D
So what do I think about this scene. I think that Loki was tortured and his back is giving out and I LOVE THIS SCENE BECAUSE IT IS SO DARK BUT TRYING NOT TO BE.
Thanos' immediate response to something not going his way is torture and he knows Loki. Knows him well enough to pick his brother out of a crowd in Infinity War and leave him alive until the end. Knows him well enough to make his death personal. Strangulation is a crime of passion. Thanos hurt Loki and he knew Loki, and the idea that Thanos made sure that Loki wouldn't see the torture coming - by doing it to his back/spine - is just an extra layer of awful. Thanos left Thor alive. On purpose. He could have killed him. He didn't.
That was Loki's punishment. Leaving Thor alone. Because Thanos knew that would hurt him the most.
But Thanos also chose to kill Loki, and in infintiny war, while hunting the stones, Thanos doesn't make any unnecessary bodies. Which to me, means that Thanos had to kill Loki because he saw Loki as a threat.
So anyway, somehow I'm talking about Loki and Thanos again, who are my favorite horrible duo and I love talking about them because their relationship is so so messed up. I wish that the Loki series had DONE something with Thanos and Loki, but they didn't. :/
But why Loki's back? Like Thanos started with Loki's head in the post-credits scene of Thor 1:
why did he move to Loki's back? Also the fact that Thanos was having Loki hunt down the Infinity Stones through astral projection and/or enchantment is just so messed up and I love it. Wish it had been explored because THIS ^^^ was the giant beast I wanted poked at in Loki season 1.
#loki#loki meta#in defense of loki#loki was tortured#loki and thanos#their relationship is THE torture/torturee dynamic to me#even including Sam and Lucifer from SPN who also have an equally messed up horrible terrible relationship#i just love the torture/torturee relationships that are just digustingly intimate in a non-romantic way#because torture for the same of torture is just business#there's something terrifying about it being personal#so anyway always happy to talk about thanos and loki#like literally always#this makes me want to write about them lol#*sighs happily* so messed up

Unpopular opinion incoming: ...Why do NaruHina fans even like The Last?
Unironically, I really want to know why, because, I am a huge NaruHina shipper myself, and even still, this movie never fails to aggrevate me in the worst way possible, even now, not even getting angry or anything, but... I just feel empty. I feel nothing. Not even the kiss made it worth, and I am HUGE sucker for sappy romances from time to time. Hell, I am a romance author, as a hobby. But this movie, it legit felt like, I just wasted my freaking time. That's a far worse sensation than getting mad, because, I just got nothing smart to say about it.
So, let me get this straight, and I am pretty sure, I am speaking of behalf of anyone that even remotely supports these two as one: The series NEVER making Naruto acknowledge Hinata's confession, was just damned moronic, even from a writing standpoint, because, yeah, in Japanese, it can mean two different things when you say "I love you", I know that, it might just mean "I love you as a teammate", but honestly, considering that NaruHina, by this point, was always meant, even according to Kishimoto, in hindsight, not acknowledging this moment for years to come, until the movie had to speak up about it: You lost the plot. If it was always meant to happen, why did you write it in a way as if Naruto straight up ignored everything she said?
And listen, I know, Naruto is a really delayed mofo, but the movie tried to paint it as if, "Naruto is a dense idiot, who isn't in touch with his own feelings, so you have to put him in a Genjutsu to """see the depths of her feelings for him"""", but honestly, to me, this just felt like a really convenient excuse to just regress Naruto as a person, just so the ship can happen, essentially, "guilt-tripping" him into going, "Ohhh, Hinata always had feelings for me, I didn't notice, even though she risked her life". Again, again, again, none of the events would even bother me so much, if it weren't for the undeniable fact: Somehow, during Shippuden, they tried to make it seem "ambigious", by not addressing her confession, EVER. Like, almost as if, Sakura was meant to be "the final option, because of Kushina", but it was clearly bullshit, and the movie wasn't subtle on that front either. But then, WHY WASN'T IT BROUGHT UP? WHY DID NARUTO NOT SAY ANYTHING?
And before any of you stupid motherfuckers are going to accuse me of being a "closeted NaruSaku shipper", I am not. These two simply wouldn't have ever worked out in the long run, for one thing, because I am not a fan of this trope, of the girl always needing to use violence, on an already traumatized individual (not to mention, that being played for laughs, which also rubs me the wrong way, especially in regards to comic relief characters), and him just going with it, which, by the way, isn't very realistic at all, as to why Naruto never got cross with Sakura at one point or another (one can of worms, I want to talk about some other time), and secondly, c'mon now, look at these two. They are more siblings than anything. As if, two different halves and shades of Kushina live inside the two of them, individually.
Not to mention, why are you NaruHina fans so comfortable with pardoning bad writing, brushing it off as if it's "deeper than you think"? Because, I just can't see it any other way, both Naruto and Hinata were frankly OOC in this movie, considering, this is all supposed to take place after the war. I can forgive Naruto being an idiot, who is slow on the draw, but straight up going "he is just dense", is frankly retarded, considering, we are talking about the equivalent to ninja Jesus Christ with him here, who basically loves everyone like family (safe for the villains), but then comes Hinata, he confesses first, but somehow "he is dense"? Why do we even need a fucking Genjutsu for all this? Doesn't he remember a person he truly loved like her, of ALL people? So we are left with having to rely on made-up flashbacks, which never even happened in the original series (only in Shippuden, late-game), and a contrived plot device, that comes in the name of "Otsutsuki"?
On that note, I really do not like what this movie did with Hinata. Look, "Toneri was messing with her chakra", even if that were true, it doesn't change anything, because it's still an excuse to make her another damsel in distress for Naruto to save. I get it, Hinata is not like Naruto in that, she bears his battle attributes, but sheesh, man, are you really fine with regressing her back to the Genin, who can't even run down walls to save her life? This is a mess, I really cannot approve of this, Hinata is way stronger than that, and we all know it, this just isn't acceptable to me. I want my couple dynamic to be evenly distributed to feel absolutely comfortable.
And this is acceptable to you all? I call it, for what it is: Terrible writing. Stitched together with convenient excuses, just to have the ship happen somehow, in an artificial way, despite having criminal lack of shared screentime together, non-canon content excluded, by the way (I am sorry, I have to be consistent here).
With all this knowledge, the movie comes off as a truly cringeworthy attempt to try appeasing to us, who love these two together. The sappy music, the "larger-than-life" presentation, the overt reliance on spectacle, rather than substance, is just making this experience even worse for me.
Peace.
P.S.: This is just my silly, personal opinion, if you love this movie, more power to you. But to me, this is one of those pieces of media that genuinely make me feel miserable.

yk, I was goaded into reading Self-Cest for the Danny Phantom fandom (it was a good read and I stalked the author’s entire dischoreography afterward) but now Im wondering how that would go for Han Sooyoung and her avatars. Specifically 1863rd Han Sooyoung.
How would they get over the dispute over who the true hsy is? Would they conclude that they’re just two different people because the 1963rd was only possessing the other hsy to write? Would they be able to differentiate? Questions questions questions
The fic was by Dream_Trance if ur curious
'goaded' I like that word. I too have goaded people into reading selfcest content I think.
I'm guessing you read my recent Han Sooyoung meta where I talk about how I think their split happened and then sent this ask. You got me absolutely right in that case, there IS a secret selfcest version of that post I didn't include because of woke (well, actually because I want people to focus on the theory lol and weird selfcest shipping distracts from that).
The thing orv does with the alt universe selves that is sooo interesting to me is all of them, and I do mean all, have these twisted and complicated feeling about their other selves. And that's all canon, all I do is tint those feelings in a slightly more romantic direction. for fun. (despite all appearances I'm secretly a canon purist. no, not really. but imagine if I was)
So, what is Han Sooyoung's whole deal?
From what we see in orv, their whole dynamic is basically.... 1863 is cool smart badass powerful protagonist-like and 3rd is the 'rip-off' constantly trying to catch up to her awesomeness / keep up / 'plagirizing' her. This happens a lot, starting from when Han Sooyoung is 13 years old and accidentally plagirises herself for the 1st time.
1863 writes Ways of Survival? 3rd gets vague dream-memories and writes SSSSS grade infinite regressor.
1863 becomes a constellation named Architect of the False Last Act? guess what 3rd does.
See how the narration always mentions 'btw 1863 did this first' - I'm not making this up. 3rd even plagiarizes 1863's lost memories into existence again !!
So if there is one 'true' Han Sooyoung...it is pretty clear who that would be. But crucially, 1863 does not mind at all being ripped off and isn't bitter about it. (unlike sp, who is very bitter at first.)
When Kim Dokja comes to her like 'someone plagiarized your novel!!1!!1!' han sooyoung says lol idc because she knows its just 'daytime ego'/3rd.
Even during the scenarios, 1863 is constantly helping her out because she sees 3rd as a bit of an idiot who does not know anything (very sp style) so OBVIOUSLY she needs to come along and save her while pretending its a huge hassle and she totally doesn't want to. (very 'this will be the last time i help you' for spyjh).
Like, for example, way before 3rd gets Predictive Plagiarism, 1863 is giving cryptic dream hints to help her, and when that doesn't work just straight up temporarily passing on the skill.
but she's totally doing it for fun and because she likes to throw a wrench in others plans haha and not because she cares or anything. totally.
And ALSO let's just talk about this epilouge moment that drives me crazy. 3rd is doubting herself and crumbling under the pressure so 1863 emerges from their subconscious to help her one last time and says LET ME DO IT. Aargh!!!
selfcest yuri...
So yeah, this is a brief look on how I interpret the 3rd/1863rd relationship (Han Sooyoung version.) I have more thoughts on them during the epilouge specifically and the avatar skill but. different post.
#jesus this is long....#selfcest#orv spoilers#my posts#asks#han sooyoung#i don't nescesarrily want to put this in the main tags but i have to for organization. sorry abt that lol#orv#1863 arc

Think what strikes me about something like "we can't vote because the system is rigged! Ban the electoral college!" is the big underlying implication of it.
That there is no multiple solutions or paths, only the one correct path and everything else is worthless.
And that's incredibly frustrating because there are two levels of problems with it:
is the utter dismissiveness of anything other than their specific solution, which ignores how any degree of positive change cannot occur with only just ONE idea, it's usually the result of many ideas that lead to change.
The fact that it feels like they're skipping every step in between the current situation to this end result, or actively fixating on themselves having the correct solution, but only by literally getting everything in between completely wrong in the process.
Like, the latter point in particular is like a complex math equation: Just because you got the right answer doesn't mean you can just ignore every difficult step in between, or just assume that all of the WRONG processes become validated retroactively because you stumbled into the correct answer. You'd literally get failed and be forced to redo the problem if you tried that shit in math.
I saw a poll the other day claiming that support for abolishing the Electoral College had now reached 65% of all Americans. Now, I take all polls, whether good or bad, with a grain of salt, but this does reflect a growing awareness that the EC is a horrible racist anti-democratic dinosaur only applied to the presidential election and only used for electing Republicans who don't win the nationwide popular vote, and that there's a genuine groundswell of support to abolish it. See the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, which could possibly collect enough state-by-state ratifications to go into effect into 2028 (in the best-case scenario). So even all the bitching about how "the system is rigged" (which. WE KNOW! WE KNOW! There's not a single Democratic voter going to vote like WOW I LOVE THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE CAN'T WAIT FOR MY VOTE TO DEPEND ON HOW MUCH IT COUNTS THANKS TO THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE WHEE OLD DEAD WHITE GUYS!) blatantly ignores that a possible seismic change IS possibly in the offing, because people put in the work to make it happen!!! The fact that the EC might soon be superseded or disempowered is FUCKING MONUMENTALLY HUGE!!! It has existed literally since the beginning of America and arbitrated every single presidential election!!! And let me tell you, the people working to make that change and fundamentally reshape American democracy are absolutely not the Online Leftists, whose grasp of civic and political theory starts and ends at "wah the system is rigged I do not vote I am very smart!"
This also reminds me of the recent idiots in my notes complaining that Biden was a) not "genuine" in supporting the striking auto workers, that b) Don't You Know He Broke The Rail Strike (the follow-up where he gave the railworkers what they most wanted with that strike was conveniently never mentioned), or c) that he wasn't "doing it for the right reasons" (whatever the fuck that means). Which accurately reflects their belief that the way you do politics, or praxis, or anything at all, is just by having the Really Goodest Mostest Purest Intentions really hard, and that's it. Like. Aside from the fact that it's impossible to prove why Biden is privately motivated to do anything, we have a long track record demonstrating that he is a person of genuine Catholic faith who has been moving more and more to the left overall, and has been the most pro-union, pro-labor president in American history. So first of all, complaining that "he's not GENUINE!!!!" in supporting the strikers is impossible to prove, and contradicted by actual evidence. But the Online Leftists gotta feel More Gooder Than Him somehow, so.
Likewise: as I said in one of my previous posts about Hillary Clinton: I do not give a fuck if she was privately the most Neoliberal Corporate Centrist Shill Ever To Shill (and as I also said, none of those words means what the Online Leftists think they do). I do not care about the American monarch president's personal feelings, unless they reflect directly on the policy that they make and the real-world effects that it has. I don't care if Clinton killed puppies (or dreamed about killing puppies, which for the thoughtcrime police is equally bad), as long as she appointed 3 new liberal justices to SCOTUS and throughout the courts, instead of the hacks that Trump forced onto the bench and literally everything else he did. In the same vein, Biden could secretly be like "hahahaha fuck all workers BIG CORPORATIONS FOR LYFE but I gotta support the workers and get them their rights so they'll vote 4 meeee" (not that I actually think he is, but still) and hold onto your hankies, children: I DO NOT CARE! Because the tangible real-world effects of that policy that he is working hard on making results in a better economy for those workers and substantial redistribution of capital away from the oligarchs for the first time in a generation! Not to mention, I kind of like the idea that a president decides to make himself most appealing to workers instead of bosses! But for the Online Leftists, if this action isn't done with the Sufficiently Pure Motives, it is Wrong and Bad and Not Good Enough and Blah Blah Biden Sekrit Republican.
Anyway. Yes. That. The end.

I feel like Mike Wheeler is the friend with the comforting vibe. Just a little bit. Like he’s a leader, but he’s also really good in high stress situations. Like yeah he can be annoying, they all can, but he’s definitely someone all of them trust. I mean, you see Dustin’s stress when he remembers Mike is in California. Sometimes I think it’s easy to write Mike off as if he’s another background character, but that boy is fearless when it comes to making plans and protecting people. I said this on my old account before I accidentally deleted it, but we tend to make fun of him grabbing random objects to use as weapons when in high stress situations as if he’s an idiot. It’s funny that he holds a candlestick when he thinks a monster is going to eat all of them, but I think it more so proves that he’s like ‘well I’m gonna fight even if I know I’ll die, even if this weapon is useless it’s better than nothing.’ He’s an extremely fast thinker and while we see his fear when it comes to emotional baggage and more intimate stuff, that boy is a fearless leader. Back to my point, I feel like he’d definitely give the entire party a sense of comfort when he’s with them. I think not having him (and Will/El of course but that’s different) in Hawkins in season 4 was extremely detrimental and was probably a big reason as to why it all went to shit so quickly. Nancy is too headstrong, Steve just wants to feel important and doesn’t always think rationally, Max was self sacrificial, Dustin needs to be reined in. I mean, we remember him in season one, he’s a genius, but he’s better when there’s someone to work off of. Lucas was extremely focused on Max (as he should) and probably struggled to think rationally too and there was no one there to really reel all of them in. Mike has always been the one to do that because they all just naturally listen to him. He’s a very smart character and is definitely an absence they all feel when there is danger.
Mike is an intense guy, Finn Wolfhard even said that, he’s kind of serious. In season 3 we see how quickly his leader mode is switched on the second Will says something is wrong. He’s always the guy with the plan and if something is off about the plan he’s quick to fix it and improvise. He is an extremely important puzzle piece to their success. We’ve seen Will not be there season one and basically season two. El was missing season two. We’ve seen the absence of almost every character in the main plot/issue except for Mike. Mike is always there and always kind of leading whatever conflict they’re in. I mean I’m season 2 he’s the one who realizes what the mind flayer made Will do, he’s the first one to break Will out of the trance. He’s the one with the idea to burn the Upside down. We don’t even need to discuss season one cause obviously. Season 3, same thing, he was adamant about getting Max and El there, he came up with the sauna idea, he got that car pushed over in the mall. He’s their guy and has never not been there to help. Like even with Jonathan and Nancy there Mike was still running the show. He never waved off people’s worries (especially Will’s) and is quick to consider all the variables.
Basically what I’m saying is Mike is probably the biggest piece to their success and him being gone in season 4 was probably a huge reason it failed. I love him ❤️

I’ve been wanting to talk about the WebToon “My In-Laws are Obsessed with Me” and why it’s one of my absolute favorite stories just about ever, but haven’t had enough mental presence to go into it all.
(Warning: Romance comic, but amazing slow burn marriage of convenience between two traumatized individuals that is done exceptionally well, and even though you want both sides to spit stuff out you completely empathize with why they’re being respectful and/or still not in a position to recognize they’re falling in love)
But the most recent free episode!!!
🤩🤩🤩
It’s just a small thing, and I can’t even discuss it beyond broad strokes because it involves just about every single spoiler for the metaplot.
But! But!!!!
One thing I love the most about this series is that everyone in it is intelligent.
And not the “good at math smarty smart” kind.
This is not a series where the main character has to do everything because people are chained to their idiot balls.
I’ll say there is a curse involved, and the MC initially is like “Ok, time to do some research on this mystery!”
And then is introduced to the members of the afflicted family who have dedicated their lives to that single thing, becoming doctors in order to treat and research the curse, and the MC is just “Oh, right, they’d have already tried.”
There’s been a theory in the back of my head, never actually mentioned aloud in the series but pretty obvious (in the best way!) given the mechanics of the curse and a recent evolution of it.
In this episode, the female MC hesitantly goes up to her “marriage of convenience” husband and merely suggests this particular theory as he is the one in a position to ask questions…
Well, “suggests,” she brings up the relevant antagonist…
And he calmly goes over all the research he has already done into the matter, evidence for and against, pointing out the things she’s previously brought up that lead him to suspect things and it’s just…
They’re so smart!! They’re so proactive!!!!
The only thing that’s kept me from gushing earlier is a recent revelation that a major character has suffered sexual trauma in the past.
So please, if respectful depictions of “someone was drugged and put into a traumatizing situation in order to try and force them into marriage” is something you can’t deal with, please know this WebToon is respectful about it but it is a huge part of a character’s backstory and, sadly, the current plot.
If you can handle that, though???
This WebToon is a must read.
Even if you’re not into slow burn romances, even if you think all cishet romances are boring and pointless (which is wrong, btw, from my pan perspective).
The episodic formula sadly seemed to push the earliest episodes into a very rushed pace in order to lay enough plot points to get readers interested.
But once the marriage of convenience happens, this is a masterclass in writing.
On how to make empathetic, relatable characters who make decisions that make sense.
Bad decisions because of believable circumstances, good decisions based upon their own strengths.
In how to integrate clues to a metaplot through the narrative, and also have the characters react naturally to them.
The visual storytelling is also just so so good, you can tell so much about what the characters outside the mc are thinking!
If you haven’t yet and WebToon stuff is your thing, read this series!!!

I’ll be honest here it baffles me that people actually take Rhaenyra’s “sharply questioned” line as her literally wanting Aemond to be tortured because it was always SO OBVIOUS that’s she’s just making smart choice of words to provoke Alicent and get her out of control. Rhaenyra is very clearly and cleverly trying to bait Alicent into admitting that it’s her that’s been spreading the rumours. But Alicent is a selfish coward so she let her sons take the fall for it.
In what world people actually think that Show!Rhaenyra would wish for a child to be tortured ? Like, y’all can’t be serious this doesn’t fit her character at all, soft girl did nothing when Aemond openly mocked and beat her sons in front of her during the dinner scene in ep8, she’s so obviously just manipulating the situation to her side by making Alicent physically & mentally lose her composture.
And Alicent fell in Rhaenyra’s trap like an idiot, Viserys gave her a chance to say a suitable punishment but she was already so blinded with hatred, resentment and rage that she choose something he would NEVER grant, Viserys is weak-willed but he’s not insane nor cruel, same way he wouldn’t torture his son he also wouldn’t take his grandson’s eye.
That was literally Alicent’s chance, she was given the chance to speak, imagine if she hadn’t fallen for Rhaenyra’s bait and had given in front of the whole court a speech similar to her “to have three is a insult” on ep6, even Viserys wouldn’t be able to mend things. Alicent turned a huge win for her “these bastard children are bullies, savages and animals” agenda into an humiliating political loss because people will only remember she was a psycho charging at a 6-year-old child with a dagger trying to gouge his eye out/murder him.
You:
because it was always SO OBVIOUS that’s she’s just making smart choice of words to provoke Alicent and get her out of control. Rhaenyra is very clearly and cleverly trying to bait Alicent into admitting that it’s her that’s been spreading the rumours.
I never really thought of her specifically using these words to provoke Alicent's mother-protectiveness...hmm. I always thought of it as her trying to place emphasis or provoke Viserys into being more "strict" ore relentless in his verbal interrogation of Aemond, bc she's placing emphasis on how serious the act of bastard-calling she labels as a crime to necessitate that relentless searching. I suppose it could be both.
You:
soft girl did nothing when Aemond openly mocked and beat her sons in front of her during the dinner scene in ep8,
I mean, there wasn't much she herself--pregnant--could do besides keep him in her eyeline and have others separate the two. I would have preferred at least an angrier expression from Rhaenyra or some sort of slip up where she forgets she's pregnant and then Daemon stepping in. But perhaps that's my inner drama babe popping out and my desire for what I think the canon!Rhaenyra would have likely done if that scene happened in canon Westerosi history (in the book, it said that they came close but the tension never broke into an actual fight and no punches were thrown). Plus I'd have liked more shouting from both sides, but we got what we got 🙄.; the purposeful rewriting and dilution of a woman who more often than not would cause just a little bit more "noise" and was more expressive as she asserted herself.
Key words...."never forgot a slight". Yes, women absolutely could be this way and still be a "good" or "ethically ambiguous" instead of a "amoral" or "bad" actor.
We could say "not all women", or "most women wouldn't have put themselves at risk" like that. These are true. It's just that with bk!Rhaenyra, the likelihood that, as I said, she'd "forget" in her suppressed rage...it's likelier she would have.
You:
Viserys gave her a chance to say a suitable punishment but she was already so blinded with hatred, resentment and rage that she choose something he would NEVER grant
This is Viserys' dialogue with Alicent:
Viserys: This interminable infighting must cease! All of you! We are family! Now make your apologies and show good will to one another. Your father, your grandsire, your king demands it! Alicent: That is insufficient. Aemond has been damaged, permanently, my king. “Good will” cannot make him whole. Viserys: I know, Alicent, but I cannot restore his eye. Alicent: No, because it’s been taken. Viserys: What would you have me do? Alicent: There is a debt to be paid. I shall have one of her son’s eyes in return. Viserys: My dear wife. Alicent: He is your son, Viserys. Your blood. Viserys: Do not... allow your temper to guide your judgment. Alicent: If the King will not seek justice, the Queen will. Ser Criston... bring me the eye of Lucerys Velaryon. Lucerys: Mother! Viserys: Alicent. Alicent: He can choose which eye to keep, a privilege he did not grant my son. Viserys: You will do no such thing. (to Criston) Stay your hand. Alicent: No, you are sworn to me! Criston: As your protector, my queen. Viserys: Alicent, this matter... is finished. Do you understand? And let it be known, anyone whose tongue dares to question the birth of Princess Rhaenyra's sons should have it removed. Rhaenyra: Thank you, Father. [Alicent attacks Rhaenyra]
This is the fuller script.
Actually Viserys never gave her a chance to "choose" a punishment. A huge part of Alicent's frustration boiling to her taking the knife is how little (really no) choice Viserys allows her to get any sort of payback. Throughout this scene, they are arguing about how he's not inflicting any punishment for her sons' sake AND she's trying to get one to be implemented in the first place. You can't choose a punishment that wasn't a granted as an option in the first place. Her decision to try to take out one of Lucerys' eyes comes from her own refusal to accept Viserys' action-less/not giving her option of retaliation.
Ironically, the scene does indicate how little power she--even as the Queen Consort and mother to 4 of his living children--has under Viserys' authority when she cannot do much to protect her kids without facing some sort of censure herself. again, she's obviously wrong and Viserys was right to not punish those kids bc Aemond simply was the aggressor. Especially when he had already won, the boys and the girls were backing off, and he still re-raised the rock to bash in his nephew's head while calling them worthless bastards--triggering all their fight or flight responses. that and taking out an eye for Aemond's would have done nothing--esp under this context--for Aemond but to affirm the idea that he was not morally responsible for his own actions. Not that Viserys knew, but we know and we know the possible other consequences for if this didn't turn out the way it should have. And it would have left another child without an eye, further traumatized. Again, the only worth in that sort of "justice" is to satisfy the actual bad actors.
Still, it showed a shared experience for Consorts and noblewomen. Indicated something wrong in the system that they are in similar to how it was unfair for Rhaenyra to be expected to have heirs from a gay man, her probable choice in a husband denied, losing another to constant births for the high-valued male heir, this woman, her former best friend (in the show), harrassing her and nearly maiming her own son in jealous retaliation, etc.
Alicent's feelings are somewhat valid (bc, again, she is wrong about Rhaenyra possibly killing her kids if she becomes Queen or that lords will endanger her kids AND that Rhaenyra should strictly follow patriarchal principles of "duty" and "sacrifice") valid, but neither were her behavior nor her response.
You:
imagine if she hadn’t fallen for Rhaenyra’s bait and had given in front of the whole court a speech similar to her “to have three is a insult” on ep6, even Viserys wouldn’t be able to mend things
I mean, bk!Alicent didn't do this either, bc she'd risk her own reputation taking a hit for being a "rowdy", too-vocal woman by so flagrantly bad mouthing the house she is married into and has "given" children to. Her loyalties to her husband's house is not considered a light, casual thing. I mentioned at least 2 Rhaenys-posts ago that Rhaenys could never expect House Velaryon to accept her as their head even if the greens ruled it bc there's too much that would go against her: Vaemond Velaryon; the fact that show!Corlys already named Luke his heir and Luke is male to her femaledom; she's not even part of the house's direct lineage by blood like Laena.
Remember that Alicent is trying to get Aegon "legitimately" named as Viserys' heir. For the King's wife to be criticizing the King's actions in front of the entire court would throw some reputation-degrade marks onto her kids, bc that's how the medieval-to early Tudor patriarchal world thought. Virginity, chastity, no sex outside for marriage exclusively for women...the idea was that if a women did "unwomanly", disobedient thing, she'd be hurting her children's prospects and those sex-related things I mentioned? It's all a way to restrict a woman's sexual activity by ruling that if she has affairs while already married, she'd be throwing doubt as to her children's paternity.
So she'd be risking of acting "treasonously". And Alicent simply isn't that type of woman nor can she reasonably expect to gain more than what she'd lose. She truly is that conservative/has bought into the patriarchy.

Rodney’s bro Rowan- The smart one.
As the sixth child born in the Parker family, the chaos of a huge family is all Rowan has ever known. His mother dying when he was only a year old would only exacerbate things. His older brother Ryan, bless his heart, had tried his best. But some people just couldn’t be saved- that was Rowan’s belief.
From a very young age, his academic prowess had not gone unnoticed. Similar to his older brother Roy, he was much more intelligent than most of his completely idiotic brothers. However, he wasn’t a freak like Roy was, so his intellect could actually be put to use in the world. He excelled in school, and it wasn’t even close. Now at 18 and the only one with a chance of making it to college, (At least for a real degree. C’mon Ryder. An Art Major? Useless.) he intends to pursue a degree in the sciences and make lots of money for himself. Perhaps he could also make himself some friends, because nobody seems to like him much for some reason. Their loss. Oh, and maybe he could find a girlfriend as well.
(If it’s not obvious, Rowan’s got a bit of a superiority complex. He wasn’t quite old enough to be fully affected by his mother’s death, and thus doesn’t have the same trauma most of his brothers have. He shares this with Ryder and Ralphie.)
Rowan is straight, and looking for a girlfriend who shares his interests, because nobody else he knows does. It’s a general problem that he’s not great at talking to people- partially because he’s a little socially awkward, and partially because it’s very easy to get him to see you as lesser than him/ not worth talking to. If he found a few friends that were able to ground him a bit, he really could be a much better person.
Brother-wise, Rowan’s best relationship is with Ryan. He’s hardworking and dedicates his life to taking care of all of them, even though most of his brothers are unsalvageable. Though he won’t get anywhere further in life, that drive has to be respected. In his opinion- Richard has wasted his life, something is very wrong with Rodney and Roy mentally, Robbie is an idiotic loser who obviously can’t deal with his sheer inadequacy and copes by being incessantly rude, Ryder is a pushover with no spine, and Ralphie is Ryder’s enabler with an annoying sense of justice. He does have fun making Robbie cry, because he’s so insecure in his masculinity it’s ridiculous. Like seriously- who does he think he’s fooling with the macho act? Grow up. Rowan has tried to toughen Ryder up a bit, because he’s not really that bad all in all, but Ralphie always gets in the way.
In the future, Rowan does get married and graduates from college. He’s the first Parker to do so, later followed by the twins. He has two children with his wife- a boy and a girl. Though he’s still rather uptight, the three of them are able to bring him down a bit. He still doesn’t like most of his brothers though. Especially not Robbie, who keeps trying to ingratiate himself with his children. They do NOT need such a bad influence in their lives. If any brother would be the one to not show up to the family function, it’d be him.
(The last three were in age order, but that was just a coincidence. The rest won’t be. I also decided to make Rodney because it felt strange leaving him out.)

i've read that you read fanfiction about a German rapper 👀 Would you mind sharing who said fave rapper is? Trying to get into German rap and hip-hop a bit more and I'm searching for some suggestions
OH BOY, MY DEAR ANON. You might just have opened such a huge can of worms, I am so sorry for my Rammstein mutuals, but...but I just need a moment to absolutely go nuts about this group and this guy, so here we go:
My favourite rap group since I was 14 years old (more than half of my life I just realised) is K.I.Z, a Berlin based group which have the absolute best, most eloquent and smart lyrics/rhymes/lines in the german rap scene in my opinion. A lot of their songs deal with political/violent/sexual/disturbing/critical social themes in an ironic, sometimes very dark and denunciatory manner, to provoke and rouse the public. And of course they have some typical rapper songs, but always with heavily sarcastic undertones.
They often have a rather shocking and daunting effect on conservatives and right winged people (a right wing politician here in Germany even complained about them in the Bundestag) which is just chef's kiss.
My favourite rapper is part of this group, Nico Seyfrid (the other two are Maxim Drüner and Tarek Ebene). His voice is like so incredibly smooth (like melted chocolate) and yet so powerful and he's just... I love this man and his talent now for 15 years. Absolute teen crush and still kind of is. He's pretty straight forward, funny, has a wonderful Berlin accent and also looks rather beautiful in woman's clothing (K.I.Z sometimes host concerts only for women and dress up as really beautiful ladies on stage, it's just iconic). And now please look at my beautiful cuties, making legendary tracks since the year 2000:
And my rap baby in particular:
Plus they ALSO sometimes kiss on stage:
Maybe they're not something for everyone's taste, but next to Rammstein (of course always my number 1), Led Zeppelin and MJ, these wonderful idiots are in my favourite top 4 music acts ❤
#oh god thank you for this ask damn it was nice to rave a bit about them#some more german rap acts include sido|Bonez MC|Gzuz|Materia|RAF Camora|Apache 207|Sammy Deluxe|Alligatoah|Bushido and many more#i mostly listen to K.I.Z honestly because the rest of the time i'm more leaning into rock music#as you see on my blog#an unusual ask but highly appreciated#ask#musik#k.i.z#nico seyfrid#tarek ebene#maxim drüner

Hey there, I am kinda losing my mind and thought that since you offer advice sometimes you might not mind me asking for some. I have been hooking up with somebody for a few months and this is my first time ever doing hookups. I’m really into possessiveness and as it turns out so are they, and recently they’ve been really leaning into it calling me theirs, and getting me to say I’m theirs in the bedroom, “who’s pussy is this” etc. They even got jealous when I talked about my massage therapist bc it was a man touching me! We had never talked about exclusivity (not smart I know), but they said and did things which implied it often. Fast forward to today and they tell me that they slept with somebody else only a couple weeks ago and might have chlamydia.
I’m really upset, firstly that they slept with somebody else and didn’t even give me a heads up so I could opt out of sleeping with them until they were sure that they were clean, but also I feel like I have no right to be upset because it was never stated that we should be exclusive and maybe I should have expected this from casual sex. Am I just being too sensitive about this? Is it normal for a hookup to be so possessive, knowing that you like it, but also be fucking around without telling you? I can’t help but feel jealous and imagine they act just as possessive with every hookup, which is their right bc it’s a common kink! I feel crazy.
I feel like such an idiot. I don’t want to date them, I just don’t want them fucking other people without protection at the same time that they’re fucking me without protection. How do I express that I won’t sleep with them again unless it’s exclusive without it sounding like an ultimatum or that I want something more serious? I just want safe sex. I’m so conflicted and don’t know if I’m just being dramatic and this is normal for hookups. Any advice would be hugely appreciated. Sorry for the length.
- A very emotional femme
Oh honey, you poor thing! I'd be upset too. Ok so first, you're not being sensitive or over dramatic. Two: This is your body. Your physical and mental and emotional health. Only you get to play games with it, not someone who is clearly so immature that they are intimidated by a massage therapist. What's next, being mad at your dad for hugging you? Grow up (them, not you boo).
They need to get treated. And then you need to just sit them down and say you have expectations. You can write it down if you need to and have them read it. I do that when i have trouble finding the words or I feel embarrassed. You don't want unnecessary risks to your health. Simple as that. You aren't looking for a relationship, but you are looking for reliability. If they can't do the bare minimum, they don't deserve to be intimate with you.
Here's a good article about fluid bonding that you may want to read as well. It's a good jumping off point for future hook ups.

My Steven Stone Headcanons! <3
Just felt like typing these out tbh lol, should I share some for other characters too?
idk we’ll see
anyway, let’s get to it! :D ✰ ~
He’s asexual biromantic :)
He realised he was bi pretty early on in his life, but didn’t realise he was ace until after he turned 20
transmasc !! I don’t take criticism on this,,,, like just look at the guy and tell me it’s not true
Yeah he knew this since he was a kid
His dad is very supportive btw, incase anyone was wondering
Used to be really shy as a kid
he loved exploring new places but hated people
as an adult he’s still not the biggest fan of a huge crowd, but he’ll put on a smile and attempt to make conversation
he just perfers smaller hangouts with close friends (and I can’t blame the guy for that)
Metagross was his first pokemon
his dad got him a Beldum as a kid
A shiny one! I love that they gave him a shiny metagross in the anime, so like, I’m going with that one lol
He became champion at a ridicioulusly young age, he was 12
a lot of people used to think he just got handed the title, or his father payed the league to make him a champion, eventually he managed to prove that he earned the title himself
Childhood friends with Wallace, Lance & Cynthia
except he didn’t meet them at the same time
He met Wallace during his journey through Hoenn, when he was 10 and Wallace was 11
He just happened to run into a kid with a feebas, they seemed to be training
Wallace told him about contests, Steven seemed slightly interested but when asked if he wanted to join he quickly refused
those two would run into each other more often throughout their journeys, becoming closer each time
He met Lance first as a kid, he was 10 and Lance was 12
They became rivals/friends quickly
They weren’t together often, with both of them being from different regions
but when they were they’d get into a lot of trouble together
When Steven became champion Lance already had his title, so his friend helped him out a lot
He met Cynthia when they were both 13
He was a bit intimidated by her at first
especially since she didn’t open up to him quickly
but they soon became close friends and rivals
He was ecstatic when those two became champions of Kanto/Johto and Sinnoh
They became a trio soon after
Sucks at naming pokemon, like actually sucks at it, it’s why he doesn’t name them lol
His pokemon do have nicknames, but they were named by friends, by which I mean Wallace, just Wallace
except Metagross, that’s the only pokemon Steven nicknamed himself
Honestly at the time of writing this I still haven’t figured out a nickname yet, I was thinking Osmi, short for Osmium, I just like the way it sounds lol
Also Osmium is a type of metal, so like, it fits :)
I’m gonna say this now, since I’m about to talk about ships, but I’m not an originshipper, sorry :P
They’re cute but idk I just don’t ship it lol
I like neochampionshipping better
the lack of content for these is criminal
anyway, Steven fell first
but Lance fell harder
Except both of them are idiots who fail to see the other likes them back, despite the other making it blatantly obvious
these oblivious lil shits I swear-
Steven always vents to Wallace or Diantha about it
Both of them can genuinely not believe that Steven and Lance aren’t a thing yet
Steven ends up confessing first btw
And because Lance is a flustered moron who took too long to react, it could’ve gone very wrong very quickly
Because the lack of reaction made Steven think he didn’t like him back
but like they quickly resolve that
Honestly I could go on about those two but I don’t want this to become a ship headcanon list
Outsiders seem to think Steven is the smart one of the group
he’s not
He may occasionaly borrow the single shared braincell from Diantha
but apart from those (rare) moments this man is absolute disaster
He can spend hours at a time in his home office studying geology
he will be so occupied with it he will forget to take care of himself, because rocks are more important
The others have made it a thing to barge in and drag him out of there from time to time
or like, at least call him to remind him to drink water instead of playing with rocks 24/7
“That rock looks pretty” - literally anyone
“actually-” *proceeds to infodump about it* - Steven
He likes cartoons
will definitely end up burning the kitchen down when cooking
but is somehow really great at baking???
I don’t think he’s a huge sweet tooth but he’s definitely addicted to chocolate
I refuse to believe he’s not a dog person
I want to believe he has a lycanroc
He’s surprisingly good at video games
He doesn’t pay often though, perfers to do other things
but like if someone asks him to play with them he will
He has this specific face he makes when he’s angry and it tends to scare the others
It takes a lot to make Steven angry
I imagine him to be insanely patient
He just wants to be left alone with his rocks
He has a tiny aron he takes with him to caves and stuff, creatively named Spot
Spot was named by my oc Robin, but I don’t really wanna get into specifics about them
What I will say about Steven & Robin’s relationship is that he’s a bit of a mentor to them
but yeah that’s all I’m saying about Robin, they’re not really relevant to this post lol
Honestly this list is already pretty long imo, so I’ll leave it here lol
cya next time I guess ✰ ~
#I spend too much time thinking about this character#He's the best champion I don't take criticism#also I think he might be autistic#steven stone#pokemon#pokemon headcanons#headcanons

if we’ve covered some red flags, what are some of your green flag ships? like of those “fuck yesssssss” ones that you really enjoy
AYO SELF CARE HOURSSSSSS. i do genuinely like talking about the controversial ships but thank you for the positive vibes anon! love that
under the cut, just because the post is a little long:
actually im not super into shipping i think? i definitely value being able to imagine a dynamic for even the nichest pairings and have a lot of fun stretching or emphasizing certain parts of each characters' personalities to get them to work the best while opening up the potential for some development on each characters' side (thats exactly why im doing the ship bingo! its a ton of fun!), but theres very few things i actually like. Ship beyond surface level thoughts tbh. and recently the things i actually do ship have gotten increasingly niche. so enjoy this ramble that mostly pertains to specifically me and only me LMAO /lh
metadede ofc is the big one. not niche obviously. extremely beloved by me hiiiiiiiiii. they just have so much to work with in canon it makes so many varied interpretations which are a blast to see honestly. in general i love seeing how people portray their friendship too. an idiot whos smart to smart guy whos an idiot communication. enemies to friends to lovers..... their personalities bounce off of each other really well and the content the community makes is always a+. actually im going to take the opportunity to share my favorite mtdd fic ever. this is like pretty much peak metadede to me if anyone wants to know what i hope my personal interpretation will live up to [link!]
people might be able to tell ive been getting very into dametaberge. oh my god im so insane. no one look at me. dmk+jambacult found family Real. i have like three comics in my drafts for them. its mostly dametaberge thoughts rn but i like to think susie joins them later to make a poly ship. dmk and susie are a little tense at first but susie is, "like so over her knight phase," as she says, which dmk is extremely conflicted about whether to be offended or relieved at. and then they learn how to relax around each other and are always the two in the relationship to have awful destructive ideas, which flamberge vetos or approves of on a case by case basis. they get very happy and excited when flamberge approves of their awful plans
and of course my beloved gsa ships.............. theres falsgato which i am incredibly insane about thanks to my friend dragging me into it and now its a thing in my animeverse. enemies to friends to lovers I KEEP SAYING IM SO WEAK FOR THAT. dragato was a huge asshole to falspar for Various reasons regarding the nature of the gsa and perhaps dragatos own personal insecurity, but once they lost the war they got to bond since dragato like, realized how little the shit he antagonized falspar for actually mattered in the first place. and falspars a guy who really sees the best in people and ahahahghdjk its a whole thing its a whole thing i wont go into it rn LOL
theres also metarthur which is my very very beloved longtime rarepair. which i um. uh. ahahahah............. i get very slightly nervous talking about on main because a lot of people hc arthur as meta knights dad or parental figure but i shouldnt be nervous about hc differences really....... anyways theyre supposed to be like parallels of each other. people who are opposites thematically (arthur being leader of the gsa; mk being a former deeply infamous demon beast) who find themselves in similar positions in that they both kinda struggle with their sense of purpose vs their sense of self. meta knight sees his past struggles in arthur and so he finds himself drawn to him. he cant really Solve his situation, but (during their war-time relationship specifically) he hopes to offer some solace to him which functions as a form of catharsis to mk himself too. the two get to connect and understand each other in a unique way. i wont get too into this one right now either lol since the dynamic changes a lot depending on if its their during-war relationship or post-war relationship but theres the basics. i have a comic expanding on their general relationship in my drafts too but its at the bottom of my to-do list tbh. maybe someday though
im only into this one casually nowadays but morphogala... you really cant go wrong with "knight of death saves the greatest warrior in the galaxy from their torturous fate". something something the themes of wishing for the release of death being subverted into yes, death itself releasing you but in a way that actually Saves and rescues you instead. the hope and love in spite of all of the hopelessness AHHHHGH the themes of this one make me so weak. theres so much potential...... i really love this one on an aesthetic level too
you know i take my comment on "not super into shipping" back i think my multishipper ass has disillusioned myself into thinking being insane about like 4-5 ships isnt enough or isnt the norm. maybe i am insane about shipping......... oops
ships that make my thumbs up list in that i like them in concept but dont ship myself would be: marxolor; any of wave 3 x each other tbh. i have them as just besties in my hcs but paired up in any way is very fun; i kinda like shadow metadede but im really particular about the dynamic of that one; fransoos gets a very big thumbs up from me for themes and concept+enemies/rivals to lovers; metagala is. i dont super get it myself but the aesthetics alone are absolutely on-point enough to put this one in the thumbs up category. yayyyyyyy. im sure theres more that im missing but i think that covers any that arent too niche

Stellar Firma Customers - Superfluous Tentacle
So. We encounter the Supefluous Tentacle Cult -- also known as the Many-Limbed People of Zachroom 7 -- in the first and fifth episodes, and never again. As most of the aliens, we don't know much about them, so I could wordbuild to my little heart's content!
The guys came out utterly terrifying, but actually they are pretty peaceful.
Worldbuilding under the cut.
So, Trexel told us that these things are about three feet tall, are a cult, and that they had six hundred thousand hatchlings last year according to the Stellar Firma system. The brief told the guys that they needed the hatchworld just "at the right shade of boiling", therefore they made a boiling hot planet. It turns out that was too hot; Hartro tells us that two thousand and then some some hatchlings got cooked.
Now. If you write that up to the story being inconsistent due to improv, we can say that Trexel killed off the entire species, which would be on par with Trexel's usual work, but I like to believe that the Superfluous Tentacle weren't a collective idiot and put some of their hatchlings elsewhere. It looks like these hatchlings were under the care of one person, Nurturer 163, so it's likely that there are about two hundred Nurturers. Also, one nurturer managing this many larvae suggests that they are an R-selector species, who produce a lot of offspring, most of which die before maturity.
That's more or less what canon offers, it's all my headcanons and worldbuilding from now on.
I made the Superfluous Tentacle species come from a gas giant, high in the stratosphere, with no ground in sight, only floatings structures they built themselves. In that environment, since things tend to fall down, there aren't a lot of nutrients, which would mean everything eats everything else. There are a lot of ambush predators, carnivorous flowers, and other arboreal dangers around, so the smart, but small Tentacle People had to adapt for danger.
The head-like organ, with six eyes, a mouth-like thing and the crown of tentacles is not near their brain, that is deep inside their body, protected by the only bone-like structure, a skull, in their anatomy. Instead, this is used to communicate, observe, and to escape.
The hole is not the mouth, it's the hole they breathe out of. (Not breathe in, they have a bunch of other holes for that.) The thin tentacles along that are sensory organs, they are equipped with mechano- heat- and olfactory receptors. They also break off very easily if their owner is scared.
When one of the Tentacle People has to haul ass, they breathe out from the hole on their head very violently, and that lauches them in the other direction. The thin tentacle flail behind them. They are very easy to grab onto by any potential threat, and if that happens, a few of them will break off, like the tail of a lizard. The predator will usually settle and eat the tentacle, and let the person escape.
The core of their economy is what I call "whale upfall". Down, deeper near the planet's core, there is an ecosystem based off of some lifeforms that get by on electricity. (Handwaving the how; i don't have any idea on the physics or biology or anything like that.) There are very large, whale-like beings there, who have an air sac, an organ that has low-pressure gas in it that helps them control how high or low they float. Now, the whales have to actively pull muscles to get it to a higher pressure -- so when they die, they float up. The Tentacle People live off of the floating, huge carcasses, slowly picking the meat off of them, fighting anything and everything else that wants to eat it, and, eventually, they build floating islands from the skeletons.
They are somewhat of a hivemind. There are always a high number of workers around a hatch pond to protect it from anything that could harm it, and they die a lot, but nobody pays a lot of it. This is why Trexel says they are a cult.
The "right shade of boiling" is a mistranslation. The Nurturer meant "boiling" as "the surface moves a lot" - so, they wanted a lot of things for the larvae to eat that move. And the larvae to move a lot.
They didn't start a war for the dead larvae because most larvae would have died anyways, but they did relieve Nurterer 163 of their position. I'm not sure if they straight up killed them, or just put them on a pace shuttle and told them to never come back.
Also: like sea otters, the Tentacle People face the danger of floating off into oblivion if they fall asleep. Therefore, they always cling to something when sleeping. They sleep holding each other's tentacles often.
#my writing#stellar firma#alien species#worldbuilding#well. i guess I fleshed the guys out?#I'm very sure they were never meant to have this much flesh on them#also: the science very probably does not check out. I know. At this point I might not care#because I am swiped up in the cool factor. a society built on the skeletons of giants but sci fi is way too cool for me to give up#for the low low gain of scientific accuracy

Hii! Could i get a match up for Bungo stray dogs and Haikyuu?
Pronouns: she/her
Sexuality: unlabeled (gender doesen’t matter for me and i don’t feel confortable categorizing myself)

Appearance: i have long, layered red hair with a bit of ginger on the bottom layers and big brown eyes and round-ish face. I’m 5’2, not chubby but not partcularly skinny either. I wear a light make up almost everyday. I look pretty feminine and i take pride in that :D
Personality: i’m very very stubborn. I also pretty good at analizing people in my enviroment, and people always say when they get to know me, that i am so much more intelligent then they thought at first. I hope its not too much, and thank you in advance<33 Hope you have a great day!!
Hi Riu! Thank you for your request! I hope you like your matchups!
In Bungo Stray Dogs, I match you with...
Kunikida admires your determined nature. He knows what he wants in life and works hard to achieve that and he likes that you're the same.
Also likes your intelligence. Yes, he's surrounded by smart people but he thinks they can be very idiotic sometimes. You're a nice change of pace for him.
Doesn't mind that you're loud and outgoing. You're certainly not the only loud, outgoing person in his life. If he's managed to work with Dazai and the rest of the Armed Detective Agency this whole time, he can live with you in his life.
Kunikida enjoys reading with you. He'd love it if you would read things he write as well. Please give him feedback! He'll take note of everything you make a comment of for future reference.
Loves watching you when you're figure skating. He thinks you're very good at what you do, regardless of how good you really are.
He would join you on the ice but I see Kunikida as someone who has awful balance when it comes to things like ice skating. Get him one of those metal frames kids use and he'll be humiliated but happy he can stake around with you.
In Haikyuu, I match you with...
Oikawa is very similar to you in several ways. Like you, he's loud and outgoing. He also knows what he wants in life and how to get it.
Poor Iwaizumi. He's got two of you to deal with now...
Oikawa understands better than anyone what it's like to be ambitious. He admires your drive, but he's also going to make sure you're doing okay mentally and physically.
Please do the same for him. Even if he doesn't acknowledge it, he's not in the best place mentally sometimes because of his ambitions and high standards for himself. He will greatly appreciate anything you do to help him feel supported.
Ice skating dates! Oikawa's not too bad at ice skating but he's nowhere at your level. He'd love to learn some easy tricks and picks up on things reasonably fast. He also just wants to skate around and have fun with you.
Oikawa would love listening to you read. He's not a huge reader himself but he finds your voice relaxing and he likes listening to the stories you read unfold.
Be warned, he might fall asleep while listening to you read. He's just tired and he finds your presence relaxing.

I’ll start with Tommy. That kid is so determined to be a good king. Always has been really. He was raised to be. Even if he doesn’t like studying, he was very interested in all the negotiations they had with Phil and Techno. He was learning in the field. Not just from Wilbur, but from everyone around him. That’s a smart thing to do.
And now that he’s being mentored by Techno (probably Phil, Wilbur and whatever advisors he has too) he’s going to be a very good king. Which is important to him. Part of that is not wanting to be seen as an idiot still. And part of it is duty to the kingdom. Having people who believe in him. Wanting to make them proud.
That doesn’t mean that he’s not still full of excitement. He’s still 18 after all. And he still buckets with Wilbur for all he’s worth. He did miss his brother. I’d be surprise if they didn’t walk away for all their trauma with separation anxiety. But hey, at least they can be apart for 4 days. Though the trauma still shows its head in how Tommy stiffens up at hearing that Niki held a knife to Wilbur’s throat.
(side note that Wilbur was way to calm about that for a person who has been held at knife point before. Also don’t tell Phil and Techno. We want them to like Niki.)
I love how, even though Tommy is closer to Tubbo, he’s still so happy to see Niki. It’s not just a Wilbur thing. It’s both of the brothers. They love her. She’s family. Which is when the rest of their family shows up. I love Tommy’s excitement in general. The entire exchange is gold. Also, Tommy immediatly getting esthatic at the idea that he can spar Niki. It’s just good.

the thing is, while tommy always wanted to be a good king, he wasn't very dedicated to studying until after the time skip. he's been shown the consequences of when you don't take your role as a monarch seriously, and he's determined to be the best king he can be so he takes his position much more seriously now. he doesn't want to be seen as an idiot ever again. techno is mentoring him the most, but of course like you pointed out phil and wilbur are taking part as well, along with his advisors. he's got a whole lot of people teaching him how to be a great king.
oh in the initial aftermath wilbur and tommy had horrible separation anxiety. keep in mind this is 3 years on from what happened before. in those 3 years we didn't see there was a huge learning curve as the two had to figure out how to be apart again without freaking out. they can now go a few days without seeing each other and mostly be able to manage, but right after everything went down, the two continued to share a bedroom for nearly a fully year because they'd have nightmares so often about the other dying
(glad you caught tommy getting nervous when wilbur mentions the knife)
oh the reason wilbur was calm about the knife pointed to his throat was only because niki was the one holding it. he trusted that she wouldn't actually do it, and had wayyyy too much confidence thinking that he'd be able to show her it was him under the scarf before she could. stupid? yes. but if it had been anyone else besides niki holding the knife, he would've been a lot more freaked out
yes!! niki and tommy grew up together too!! of course niki and tommy aren't as close as wilbur and her are, just as wilbur isn't as close with tubbo, but tommy loves niki so much and is very glad to have her back. she basically helped wilbur raise him after all
