I’m currently thinking about an AU where the Justice League confuse Danny for Jason.
Like, they know Batman’s second Robin met an unfortunate end, & now his newest partner is the ghost of an upbeat, scrawny, teenage boy.
Excuse them, for thinking the ghost being Batman’s dead son was more believable then Batman somehow having picked up not just another stray, but a dead one. How did he even do that?
Bonus points if Jason is very much so resurrected already, but none of the bats told the justice league because apparently Gotham’s newest crime lord, who’s 6’ whatever & built like a brick shithouse, isn’t obviously the same malnourished little kid that used to say “Robin gives me magic!” & literally died. Who knew?

It's like wishing for a second genie and the second genie gives you three more wishes. Should be illegal! But now I'm the proud owner of a Mystery Shirt so.

Bruce is six years old when he promises Gotham that he will be her protector, if she will help him. He is too idealistic, too naive, too young to know what it means to make such an open-ended promise to a city like Gotham. Too like his parents. He means well, he means it truly, so young but already too aware of the need in her streets, the corruption, the pain, from murmured conversations by worried adults far over his head.
He promises. She accepts. But nothing comes for free in Gotham, especially not power. Her bargains are sealed in blood.
She takes his parents, a worthy sacrifice for the path carved out before him. She will be his guardian now—hard, demanding, exacting, the perfect teacher. She will be the shadows staining his steps.
He grows. He gives her everything he promised—his duty, his honor, his will, his might, his sweat, his blood. She gives him more. Two more bodies fall, blood in sand, and she gives him a son. A little light—a flash of anger, a spark of joy, the glow at the end of a long tunnel—to guide him onward and keep him moving forward, as he will guide others. Then another, swapped in payment for bloodied lips and scabbed needle marks, blood stopping cold and congealed. He loves them fiercely. He loves them too much?
She is life, so full of millions of flickering lives, but so she must also be death; with one so must go the other. She is a cat of a city, fanged, playful with a bite. She claws back the second gift, the second son. Not forever. It was never meant to be forever. Their deal was his parents, his blood sweat tears heart. But her other children have their own wants, though he is her first, her best, and she must let them have their indulgences. Life and death. Shadow and spotlight. Black and green. And that one had made promises of his own.
She borrows his boy and sends him another when he falters, almost falls. Shoves the twig of a boy under his arm like a crutch to keep him upright, allows for payment at a later date—a car crash, a sliced throat.
More come, and when they cross her borders, passage paid for by others, she delivers them to him. They are transplants, like the first, but they take root in her toxic soil like natives, sending out a rush of vines to climb her concrete. The girl knows Gotham, speaks her language with a fluency that rivals his; the boy is the blood of his blood, and she welcomes him as one of her own.
They change her, little by little, fight by fight, but not so much that the second son is out of step when he is returned, stained red by the blood of his own oath. Just borrowed, just transformed, returned to aid, to rival, to hack his own path. How they choose to fulfill their promises is not her concern.
She is life and she is death. She is vengeance. She is the night. She is dark shadow even as they turn her slowly, slowly into the light. She licks the blood from their wounds, the sweat from their brows, and breathes. And grows.
They are her forsworn. They are her children. And she will not let them fall.

Naomi's a proudly ambitionless burnout who's spent most of her 20s slumming it in Moonwood Mill (and having a hell of a time). Micah's a melancholic introvert with an English degree who's been claiming she's writing her first novel for years. Although third-generation spellcasters, they've never wanted a life of waving wands and brewing potions. Now that they've landed in Ravenwood, will they realize they've been destined to wield their magic in other ways?
*Naomi and Micah will be occupying this amazing build by @theseptembersim! More on how they ended up there soon.
If you're one of the few who's been following me long enough, you might recognize these girls from my legacy family, last seen in Growing Up Uchiyama. Their younger brother, August, is the generation's official heir and we'll be seeing more of his story... eventually. But with five kids in the family, I feel like I never got to know them as well as I wanted, so I thought it'd be fun to use them to explore the new pack! I recently discovered my legacy save got accidentally deleted or overwritten, and rather than be sad about it I've decided to embrace the opportunity for a fresh start. (That save was several years old, after all.)
Anyway, this will be mostly gameplay (I hope) but with elements of story. It's not meant to be an AU or anything, but whatever happens takes place several years after August's currently nonexistent story. Are you confused yet? Good! So are they. They aren't entirely sure why they were sent here or what lies in store or even how long their watcher will stay interested in their adventures. In other words, I have no idea where this is going, but I'd love you to come along for the ride!

If you were to pick, who out of the 141 do you reckon is genuinely kind? Whatever that looks like for you ♥️
Oh, this is such a good question, Anon!
I think... Ghost would be the most kind. I imagine he's certainly not the nicest person to be around. I think he'd be jumpy, suspicious, stand-offish and more than a little rude, if he's not thinking about it. But I like to think that he's thoughtlessly kind. Little things like holding doors and elevators, but also things other people might not think of.
He's a big guy, so I imagine he knows which conference rooms have chairs that feel sturdy and don't have armrests. He makes sure to check with the bigger guy in admin before reserving it to make sure their meetings aren't conflicting with each other.
Fluorescent lights hurt his eyes and can trigger migraines. So when he sees that there's going to be a meeting with that private who's always wincing, he dims the lights in that room as he passes, even if he's not in the meeting himself. (He's been asking admin for lamps, but someone higher up the chain is dragging their feet.)
He keeps anti-nausea tabs and ginger candies on himself for flights. He doesn't get nauseated anymore, but sometimes privates (and sergeants) do. Especially after a fire fight, especially if they've lost someone. He's not gonna offer a shoulder to cry on, but he can at least make the flight less shitty.
Of all of them, I think he's the one to notice the little things that make other people uncomfortable and address them.
(I'm a Simon Has A Sweet Tooth truther. Always grabs the dessert in the canteen. I believe this man grabs candies from the bowls on people's desks. But if it's the last one, he always tilts the bowl back toward its owner, and only takes it if they have a refill ready. )
Thanks for asking!

Sometimes I see people theorize why Hong Lu's ids seem to split into 2 in terms of personality and some of them are really cool theories but I'm pretty sure the actual answer is just his response to his trauma. For ids like dieci and liu (and I'm pretty confident r corp is in this group too, contrary to what some people may think) he represses his emotions to deal with his trauma. Meanwhile for ids like tingtang, fanghunt and kurokumo, he acts violent so he feels like he's in control of what happened to him or something along those lines

Historically plausible depiction of semi-mythological Wardi founding heroes Erub and Janes, engaging in rites of sworn brotherhood.
Each were princes of separate pre-Wardi tribes (Erub was of the western Ephenni, Janes was of the central-southern Wardinae from which the name 'Wardi' derives). Two men of their general description historically existed, but their cited exploits were likely performed by many people over a larger time scale (conquering lands to the south and east from rival Wardi and Wogan tribes and founding the kingdoms of Wardin and Erubinnos).
They are unclothed (as is necessary for the rite) but wearing recognizable regalia, as their sworn brotherhood was a display of alliance between the ancient Ephenni and Wardinae and performed before their men. Erub wears both gold and bean-bead jewelry, Janes wears gull feathers and a pearl choker (aspects of these have been retained in contemporary east and south Wardi regional adornment). Erub's wearing of tattoos (stylized paired lions across the back with their tails looping around to the chest) is an obsolete practice, and the form of headband Janes wears is now considered women's dress.
This post is not actually about them.
SWORN BROTHERHOOD IN IMPERIAL WARDIN: A POST:
Sworn brotherhood is both a ceremonial rite and a legal institution in contemporary Imperial Wardin. Progenitor variants of this practice occur or are attested to in all historical human inhabitants of the region (Wardi, Wogan, Cholemdinae, and Hill Tribes); where and from whom these traditions originated is unclear. In most cases, its historical function was as a form of allyship between larger groups of people (powerful families, tribes, occasionally entire kingdoms) via two men as a proxy, but its contemporary Imperial Wardi function is much smaller in scale has a heavily diminished role in politics.
The core function of sworn brotherhood is to both spiritually and legally bind unrelated men as kin. Similar rites involving the physical exchange of blood are used in marriage ceremonies and formal adoptions, for much the same purpose of kin-making. A person's blood is regarded as housing their living spirit, and thus to share it binds spirits together that would not already be bound by biological kinship. The contemporary variant of this practice emerged primarily between warriors/soldiers as means of establishing security for their families should one member of the brotherhood die prematurely, and to encourage loyalty and strong partnerships for mutual defense in combat.
It is an oath of exceptional loyalty and friendship, establishing mutual devotion in allyship and accepting the same duties and responsibilities to a compatriot that are otherwise only expected of blood relatives. The physical exchange maintains this bind tightly and ensures its lasting endurance. This bond provides a sense of spiritual security and will persist after death- if one brother dies alone and unburned, the other may be able to find his soul and help guide it away to the afterlife.
This rite establishes kinship in a very practical legal sense. Each brother is sworn into the other’s family, with most of the obligations implied. Each brother is sworn to familial duties towards the other’s parents- providing for them in old age, defending their status and honor and providing retribution for damages, and serving roles in certain familial rites.
Each brother’s wife and children is considered legally under the care of the other- if one brother dies, the other is in charge of filling practical obligations of a husband/father in continuing to provide for them for life, or otherwise arranging a new marriage or (if he is unwed) marrying the widow himself. He remains in control of the wife's assets, inheritance, and children unless or until she is passed into the care of another man. This is considered legally enforceable, and overrides any objections of the wife's father (who will have already lost his legal authority over her in handing her out in marriage). The wife has no direct say in this matter (and does not in general, with women being legally under near-complete authority of their father or husband).
These familial duties are required on part of each brother, but not strictly required to be requited by their family members. A family patriarch can refuse kinship to an unwanted son-in-blood, or accept one the rest of his family does not, and can enforce this decision on his wife, daughters, and any underage sons, having ultimate authority over their formal relationships. When accepted, a son-in-blood will usually receive a formal place in his new extended family's inheritance (usually treated as a youngest son). A son-in-blood is very occasionally adopted as a formal heir, though typically only in cases where a father's biological sons die prematurely (especially given this can cause complicated situations in terms of which family name the son-in-blood is bound to).
The rite of sworn brotherhood is accomplished in stages and with the assistance of a priest (generally those devoted to Ganmache, which presides over most domestic kinship affairs). Both men are blessed and purified by the priest and garbed in simple robes, and will then recite a lengthy, formal oath before God to declare allyship and swear to all expected duties as kin. The second half is done in privacy. Both men will remove their robes, with the metaphysical vulnerability of nudity under a mutual gaze allowing for the transformative effects of the rite. Each slices the palm of their hand deeply enough for blood to run and drains it into a bowl of wine. The oaths are then repeated, with remaining blood being smudged onto prayer parchment and cast into fire as an offering. The wine is then consumed by both, physically imbibing each other's blood/spirit to seal the rites. Most variants also include additional matched scarification in a prominent location (usually the forehead)- the intentional violation of the body via permanent modification, displayed prominently on the body to the public gaze, acts as a constant enforcement of the bond.
This rite is only strictly required to be performed once, though in practice is generally repeated on a yearly basis (as most rites with permanent effects are- the world's movements are cyclical and impermanent, the only permanency is in repetition).
The practice is regarded as an ideal of platonic affection between men. The family as a social unit is of vital importance in this cultural sphere, and inducting an unrelated man as one's kin is an ultimate, idealized display of loyalty and friendship. This practice may be notably attractive to men in romantic partnerships with other men, as it allows for a lifelong commitment to an unrelated man, comparable in many ways to a marriage. Though (like most male relationships) sworn brotherhoods are de-facto expected to be non-sexual, as it is a relationship between equals, a circumstance wholly out of the accepted realm of male homosexual behavior (you should not want to 'shame' your sworn brother). The vast majority of these brotherhoods are platonic.
No comparable rite exists in an official capacity for women, akoshos, or eunuchs (largely due to its place surrounding men’s roles as family patriarchs), though some may undertake similar rites to accomplish the same spiritual kinship results (without the legal benefits).

i need somebody to piece together the threads between Pepa in 8x17 talking to Buck about embracing change (framed as her delivering wisdom and a key step in Buck's emotional journey) vs in 8x18 Chimney giving a big a dramatic finale speech about how things won't be the same without Bobby but they can stay as close as possible to how it was previously and moving away from the status quo would be disrespecting Bobby's memory

What would you choose? :0c
(note: original image is from HERE (link) - but I edited it to add a wider variety of options.. also added $3 extra to the total, even though I know that makes it more uneven lol, I thought if you're adding 10 whole extra items, the money to spend should at least be increased slightly, if that makes sense..)
#I would get orange juice. black coffee. AND iced coffee ($3) because I love the variety of having multiple drinks#then sausage and scrambled eggs ($8). Then sauteed mushrooms ($3)....AND... hrm.. then spending the remaining $4 would be hard#I wish I could get waffles (as they are my favorite and are superior in every way compared to pancakes. donuts. etc.) but I'm not willing#to give up the other savory things just to get them. so... then maybe I could get a biscuit or english muffin? and just put jam or#honey butter or something on it so it can be my replacement 'sweet and bready' thing instead of something from the $5 row??#OR I could also just assume that having the orange juice plus iced coffee would provide enough of a 'sweet element' to the meal#(since I largely prefer savory foods. I only like a tiny bit of sweet added for variety) and thus forego any sort of#'bready' thing entirely and just get the bowl of beans/onion/tomato (I'd leave the avocado since I don't like the#texture of them really lol). THEN I'd have $1 left to get the milk or the black tea... increasing my total of random drinks..#which is always the goal of course.. as a chronic ''person who is sipping at 5 different drinks at their desk simultaneously always'' perso#OR... I could just do.. waffle. scrambled eggs. sausage. mushrooms. and black coffee and orange juice.. which is... okay variety#augh... so difficult.. As my Ideal Breakfast is like a buffet type thing or something where you have like 25 different things to choose fro#and can get a little tiny bit of everything. My eating style is very much like.. I'd rather pick at a small amount of a ton of#different things than just have a very large amount of only one or two things. Thats why I LOVE sample platter type stuff.#So it's like... augh... the ideal option would be a tiny portion of EVERYTHING actually lol...#Difficult to choose...#ANYWAY.. Also no idea why I added croissant instead of bagel. I only thought about that afterwards. I do actually like bagels.#I've only ever even had a croissant like 2 times in my entire life. Yet I've had many bagels. For some reason it stuck out in my mind more#when I was considering 'essential breakfast foods' somehow... how could I forget them... bagels my beloved...#Blame it on the hot weather... 'What in the blazes? The sun hath obliterated the concept of bagels from my miind!'#(< meant to be said in a silly overdramatic elderly wizard accent or something)#Also I don't think ''bowl of beans. onion. avocado. and tomatos.'' is necessarily a breakfast classic or something gbhjjh#but I was just trying to think of a versatile vegetable-ish side that could be full of common breakfast additions#so people could do stuff like ''oh I get the toast option and then the bowl of stuff and I put the avocado on the toast'' etc.#Like a mix and match. You could mix ingredients from different parts. You could put scrambled eggs and bacon and onion#on the bread or soemthing. etc. I just feel like something is always missing if a Full Breakfast Spread#doesnt have some sort of onions or beans or mushrooms or asparagus or spinach like... some sort of thing that isn't just eggs and meat and#bread.. you know? lol..#But then again.. I am the Sampling Plate Style Variety Lover and Tiny Portion Of Food Picker so maybe thats just a me thing.

reading an article on narcissus and goldmund and thinking "this is way too focused on jungian archetypes and not queer enough. also not batshit crazy enough"
#don't get me wrong the article wasn't bad in fact it was very interesting#but i think that looking at it solely from jungian lens (or other referencial material) doesn't do the book justice#also the anima and animus analysis imo doesn't often work#for the fact that 1. we have two characters who are presented as the opposites while both being men#who are two sides of the same coin/could be read as two halves of one person (I Need To Examine That More).#3. if we explore anima in goldmund... then wtf do we explore in narcissus? like ... the Default? the Man?#(tbh i think anima/animus are quite silly concepts despite being progressive then and jung def being onto something)#i actually like that the concepts of maternal (physical) and paternal (spiritual) worlds are in a way divorced from the gender#they're more like prevalent parts in individual humans (but innate to everyone in different proportions)#4. ultimately both represent two extremes to the point of not being ''realistic'' human beings at times#but still reaching to the other side/world because. well how can you live otherwise#narcissus with his love toward goldmund that retains his personhood and makes him question everything he believes in#golmund finding an outlet to the intense chaotic fleeting and cruel nature of material world in the form of art (partially spirit)#(also even prayers are presented as this kind of therapeudic quasi form of art which is interesting)#side note: it's a loss that we don't see TheSpirit in fem characters. there are moments that made me wonder that about lydia and lizbeth#but idk if that was the intention with them i might be reading too much into it#yet we have agnes who is in a way a reflection of goldmund equal to him... what a woman#txttag#narcissus and goldmund#hermann hesse#don't mind me i Still haven't processed this novel and i might have been ogre ulysses meme all these years#but im reluctant on reading about it because the novel is deeply personal to me and i wanna exercise my own thoughts#this time i just kinda stumbled upon it as i was looking for a (free) digital version of the book lmao#you used to be able to just google search an old book in russian and read/download it... what a shame
