okay so after episode 5 i made this draft and I've only just finished it now leave me be anyway i have no idea why i thought that making reader a bluwer sibling but the narrative fits to good? i don't know. I've written so much that i cease to see who asked anymore, but oh well

Context

It's the cricket opening ceremony, you are the twin of Lawrence Bluewer, along with your 7 sisters who needed to go to the cricket matches to see Lawrence play it, was his last year after all. but you didn't really like parties that much, too many people, but someone caught your eye the first year you came here. unknowingly, Gregory had found his gaze drifting over to the sister Bluewer never mentioned. It's always the 3 older and 4 younger, never the twin, always a stain on the family. but Gregory always noticed the empty space on his sketch "something's missing," never pointing it out. although curiosity almost getting the better of him, and you seen that over the years he became a prefect and he was just so pretty from afar. Just the right type of quiet but skilled and fitting into the role of prefect, and he wasn't even there?

Standing next to the blue athlete door, resisting the urge to yawn. Listening to the lower headmaster of the school although it was unusual for him to do the speaking it was still the same boring lines and then the thudding came 'green house I suspect oh look at that I'm right' they received the most applause and respect becuse they always won 'mh with that knowledge it will be red next' the second i thought it the rose petals fell all around and some of my sisters audibly swooned at it 'ugh gross, their practically throwing themselves at Redmond' I rolled my eyes at this, but I seen the lights dim, and focused on the purple door the candles let off a purple flame it was beautiful but short lived the doors opened and... 'Nothing?' No one came out. A scream from further in the room rang out. 'ah somewhere in the crowd then at least that was new' a soft smile on my features as I scanned the crowd, to look for him, only catching a glimpse of a golden tassel, before my shoulders are grabbed and I'm forced to look at my brothers team, walking though the reception for blue was always so awkward barely a few people even clapped. 'wow what a crowed anyway' i looked around for the purple, noticing the cloaks were all the same so i kept scanning each one looking for the slight difference amongst them, i looked to my chaotic relatives the older two playing match maker with Adela (only cannon name i can find) the taller little girl with glasses and an equally awkward blue house boy rolling my eyes away i started to walk towards the purple house eating area attempting to walk away i was stopped by a hand on my shoulder i freeze completely slowly turning my head to see it was Redmond 'oh my god no no no please don't' forcing a smile

"hello?"

"Good evening, my lady. Would you care for a dance tonight? i know it's only the announcement, but -"

"No! i mean uhh no thank you"

i blurted out, giving a small cough and turning to let the hand fall from my shoulder. 'oh my fucking god no, no, no, not now, not ever' thankfully a younger sister called out to the prefect to ask for a dance. sighing and looking up, seeing another flash of gold and purple with white hair moving at the purple door as i try to move away again, but my older sister stood in my way.

"Why would you ever turn down Redmond? he has plenty of status for you to be of -"

"No, I'm good"

she looked shocked, and another broke in. i felt anxious now, feeling some eyes on me.

"You have to like someone here. There's plenty of handsome boys around"

I'm sweating bullets now, awkwardly shimming to the side, trying to escape. standing on my tip toes, getting a flash of his deep purple eyes, and looking at me between the crowd before turning away. my eyes widen and i try to walk over yet again, not even getting a foot forward before i felt another person invading my space, this time i glared daggers at the poor soul who was also know as Lawrence, his face was a thin line and half serious eyes.

"Could everyone just leave her alone"

"awww Lawrie"

they faded out as i was overwhelmed already, this place sucked and i only wanted to build up the courage to talk to-

"It's violet, right?"

"...huh?!"

i was more shocked in horror now looking at my brother, the calm tone setting in, and my face flushed he just sighed, fixing his glasses with one finger looking away before speaking.

"i hoped it wasn't but, alright come on"

"Huh? w-wait, how did you?"

my words fell flat he started to walk back through the door the athletes used, and i quickly glanced around before following him through. i was confused. No way, it had been obvious, right? All the girls would have picked up on something they're like sniffer dogs with this stuff. once i caught up with Lawrence, i looked at the spacious corridor that was perfect to make the entrances that they always did. I'm surprised curiosity never came through me to explore behind here. All the way the walls looked was beautiful, like most of this gothic school. once i was done admiring the architecture, i saw my brother moving along. we had passed the red door, then we reached the purple one. 'Wait. is he seriously taking me to Violet? oh god, he is, isn't he? i thought he didn't care about me, and why now is it because it's his last year?' My mind was spinning, and my face felt warm. Lawrence simply moved towards a door it looked like a store room, and he knocked before speaking.

"Hello Violet, I've brought company"

nothing was heard from the other side, but the blue haired boy opened the door. i tried looking in it was basically pitch black except for a small purple flame, which illuminated the space, not to mention the little light coming in from the hall me and my brother blocking the majority of it.

"Oh, it's you, thanks you Bluewer"

i was confused, but i didn't have much time to think, as i was lightly pushed forward, and my brother made a slight go-ahead gesture. i made a "really" face to him, to which he nodded, pursing my lips but proceeded into the void.

"I'll get you after the celebration dies down"

"wait Lawrence what's going on?"

he just smiled, giving a small good luck and left, closing the door so that the only purple flame from the prop lit up the room. my gaze was dawn to it, and maybe to avoid the intense stare i was getting, my eyes looked over the intricate design of the wand? it was amazingly crafted and the wolf skull was awesome every year purple house was the most interesting to see but its not like they won the game but i still found myself cheering for them i first seen violet in the stands and he talked to Lawrence they were the drudges at the time speaking of that boy i looked to the side of me he looked awkwardly sat his knees up to his chest arms crossed in the crook of it his eyes boring into mine and at this i immediately looked away the dark lighting did nothing to hide how pretty he looked those eyes which were illuminating and that lipstick made him seem so kissable 'oh god I'm in the same room as him alone. wait, alone, this is just like that game. Sis mentioned it. Ugh, what was it called again?' lost in thought i failed to notice that Gregory had moved, and his hand had come in contact with my cheek, his palm was soft, like he hadn't done much physical work, but the calloses on his fingertips proved his did a lot of art. 'Wait, he's...' My face exploded with heat, as my brain and his eyes came into contact with mine. The purple was intense and extremely captivating.

"uuhh h-hi so, is this where you disappear to after the entrances... It's quite nice not many people go here either, so it's a lot quieter. So, how come Lawrence knows where this is? Did you tell him, or do all the prefects do this? Sorry, i realise I'm talking too much. I'll just shut up now okay great"

i covered my mouth with both my hands backing up slightly, his hand falling from my face.

"How come Bluwer never mentions you?"

"Oh well, I'm uhhh kind of not that welcomed by everyone since i haven't shown much potential or ..... benifit"

i was embarrassed by this. i didn't really want to talk about it, obviously, but what he said next was unexpected.

"You're beautiful, peculiar. like salamander eyes"

i looked at him, blushing and confused. 'Is that going to be a compliment, too?' Either way, i had no other thoughts other than to kiss him

"Can i uhh...."

my words fell flat, and i just leaned forward. my lips kissing his i felt lightheaded, butterflies in my stomach. i felt some of his lipstick smear onto my lips. i pulled away the softness of them still lingered on mine. he faintly tasted like a mix of the fruit juice they had set out, defiantly apple and a hint of orange, maybe cranberry as well. Gregory had a light red blush dancing across his face.

"I'm sorry i didn't ask if i c-could uhh do that"

"It's alright, i didn't ask you to stop"

Gregory looked away it was now my turn to place my palm on his cheek, and i pulled him towards me, and his body wilfully followed.'Oh god, is this really happening?' we awkwardly kept our hands on each others faces, our teeth accidently clashed, and he pulled away. a bigger and deeper blush spreading from his cheeks down his neck, which was only barely visible in this outfit and the dimly lit room he broke my silent adoration, my mouth unknowingly was open.

"You're... uhh, you're really pretty"

"i uh t-thank you. i think you're pretty too"

we both blushed, and i looked away. but his gentle touch slowly turned my head back, letting us have another kiss. This one was slower more organized than the others. It let us fully enjoy the moment of peace and half confession. his tongue lightly passed through my lips, and i returned the gesture, he let out a small noise of surprise, this didn't feel real. I was so lost in the moment that we both failed to notice the door opened. and a clearing of a throat made both me and the lover boy break apart and look towards the sound. There stood my brother and Redmond, who giggled a little. I'm guessing Greenhill was somewhere off to the side

"Come on, sister, the others are leaving now"

Lawrence was obviously annoyed but held a smile. while Redmond thought to tease the poor emo boy some more.

"My , i wouldn't have guessed this from a Bluwer sibling. How romantic. How are you feeling Violet? rather flushed, it would seem"

"Be quite Redmond"

Gregory was blushing his mouth noticeable, had some sliver on them, and he wiped his chin.'When did that happen?' but we both equally looked a mess. i could feel the remnants of his lips on mine, not to mention the likely stained black lipstick. soon i stood up, and everyone moved out of the doorway. Violet followed after me, and i felt him link pinkies with me 'god that's adorable'.

"Lawrence, could i -"

"Yes, here"

it was a bit of paper that had our address specifically for letters. I passed it to Gregory, which he placed into an inside pocket. afterwards, we said our goodbyes and Lawrence led me to the other girls. When i left, i heard Redmond tease by saying violet should have had a parting kiss with such a beautiful maiden.

okay so this took me sooo long to write like i started it after episode 5 and here i am weeks later but i feel like did really good on this so whatever i will make a smut scene that i was going to add but i thought to keep it separate but on ao3 it will be one fic

Episode 4: Spontaneous Decisions

After Bella had entered Mortimer's room and looked around, she turned back to him. “There's… a lot of black here"/ ”I know, but it's not all black. They're my favorite colors and yours…. When the daylight comes in, it doesn't look so nice, maybe you wait until the evening…"/ ‘hn, o.k.’.

“And how do you like the bed? I thought… If you ever want to spend the night here… I don't want you to have to sleep in a sleeping bag on the floor."/ ”Hn, you're cute. After they're talking a little more about the new furnishings, the room fell silent. Xander had to laugh quite a bit. He would never have thought that Pauline would accept this spontaneous wedding. But she surprised him and he really liked it. “I know I rarely say it, but… I love you"/ ‘mhm, I love you too, my big bear’…

Xander had to smile again. Pauline had once again managed to make him an even better person recently. He was a loving father and had helped with the renovation of Bella's room. Well, at least he'd managed to put the bed together and the women had taken care of the rest.

I Need to talk

I saw the new episode of MH and I'm really frustrated with the choices of romances on g3, because it's something:

random1: Ok, let's do the new generation of MH. Let's leave all the g1 couples together except Cleo/Deuce even though they were together from the beginning and are a good representation of a healthy couple even with the normal problems of a couple and family problems!

random2: oh, obviously! And let's keep Lagoona/Gil even though throughout their relationship, Gil made her feel insufficient and left her aside countless times without any explanation

random3: But are Cleo and Deuce still going to be friends?

random1: Of course, if Frankie is on their side. After all, since we're bringing Frankie and Cleo together, obviously Cleo can't interact with Deuce if Frankie isn't around!

random2: oh, so Cleo won't be able to interact with anyone alone besides Frankie?

random1: No, she will interact with Clawdeen, Lagoona, Draculaura, Clawd without any problems. She just can't speak 2 sentences with Deuce without Frankie by her side!

This is literally the new generation, you can rewatch the episodes and see for yourself.

Episode Cleo in the kitchen, Deuce being one of the monsters who knows how to cook, but why make Cleo ask him for help, right? I like the new generation, but as a person who has always loved Cleo/Deuce it's frustrating to see how they were treated in this generation while all the other couples are slowly settling down and Cleuce can't even say "hi" to each other without Frankie on their side.

And then someone says "ah it's a reboot, a new universe" "ah the two couples can coexist"

So why were ONLY Cleo/Deuce removed? Isn't it kind of bizarre that only they were actually affected? It's easy to demand we all accept Cleo/Frankie when all your favorite couples weren't affected in g3

And you can say "ah but they are exes now if they broke up it's because there was a reason" It's even worse, they only threw out the information to say that they were together one day, a while ago.

Horrible decision.

I could root for Frankie to date any monster. Clawdeen, Robecca, even Toralei except Cleo. I can't see how hypocritical the production and some of the fans are when it comes to Cleo/Deuce

I just rewatched Kuro Neko and. Ladybug and Cat Walker telling each other they were perfect at the end of the fight. Marinette and Adrien arguing who's more perfect in Collusion. Mh. I feel like there's a point but I'm not smart enough to make it. They make me sick

second of all, this is such a good parallel, it really makes me wonder if it wasn't intentional? like, it has to be, in some capacity. and given that this is a kid's show with varying degrees of depth, I think we can interpret it many ways!! that is to say--this isn't the only read on the situation, but the one that stuck with me specifically!

at the end of Kuro Neko, Ladybug and Catwalker have both "failed" in some capacity: Ladybug (feels like she) has failed her old partner, Cat Walker (feels like he) has failed in being a better partner.

in Collusion, Adrien and Marinette have both "failed" much the same: Marinette feels as if she's failing to overcome her anxieties; Adrien's can be read a couple different ways: either he feels he may not be providing her the right space to feel comfortable, OR we take the episode as a whole, and he is failing with his anxieties too: telling Marinette he is leaving for London.

And in their times of failure, they're going to see their partner as the absolute best. I think we should shelve "putting the other person on a pedestal" from the fandom due to "true self"ers; however, I do think their default reassurance is to say to this person who is their rock, who seemingly does not have any current problems like theirs, that they're perfect.

Marinette apologizes over and over post-Derision because she seemingly can't get over that relationship anxiety and thinks she should be better. Adrien is trying to be better, believing that he will come up with a plan before having to leave, but ultimately fails in telling Marinette until it's too late.

Ladybug is sad to say that Cat Walker did everything right, and it still wasn't what she needed; Cat Walker sees his partner who fought tooth and nail against Kuro Neko because she first thought it was Chat Noir and wanted to save him. Cat Walker had to save her from being crushed because she was too busy spilling all her regrets--and even after, she's so adamant it's him because she wants to save him.

so to me, I think these are two moments where our protags are individually dealing with heavy personal things that the other isn't exactly clued in on, and they see only a patient and kind partner in return who cares for and about them anyway. I think it's hard to not tell your partner in those circumstances that they're "perfect".

So, I couldn't contain my curiosity and went to take a look at the summary of future MH episodes and one caught my attention in particular. And now I'm creating theories

Ok, so we'll have an episode focused on Toralei trying to figure out which anonymous monster liked her poetry. I have two distinct deductions, either it is a monster that we already know and the focus will be on the interaction between them or a new character to present a little more content to him. among those we already know and I theorize that it could be one of these characters:

-Clawdeen (in several moments it is shown that she likes to read, my heart would like it to be, but I'm not so sure since she's an anonymous monster so there would be no reason for it to be her because Clawdeen is very open about Toralei. Maybe she will (so as not to make Tora uncomfortable? Maybe, but I still think it's unlikely).

-Twyla or Manny (both love reading, but both read just books)

-Lagoona (she loves romantic things and we don't know the genre of Tora's poetry, although I believe she prefers love stories)

Or it could be a character who has never shown an interest in reading but likes to do it in secret, but at the moment I can't think of anyone who makes sense.

Among the future characters in the series:

-Katty Noir (I strongly believe it could be her, since her storyline has always been based on how Katty wants to have a normal life out of the spotlight, it makes sense that she would act anonymously so that her privacy would be preserved.

oh man the ultimate question of all, I wanted to save this one for last to give my full thoughts on this ship

Warning: I have a VERY unpopular opinion with this ship that you guys may not like to hear. So I suggest scroll and ignore this if your a St*litz shipper. You have been warned.

So once upon a time, I had used to be a fan of this ship at one point… Well I didn’t ship them hardcore, I shipped them as a dumb crack ship at first when they treated them more like a gag. But when the Ozzie’s episode came along, I think you can say this is when I was liking the idea of them together.

Now granted, it’s one of those toxic relationships that intrigue you due to how awful both characters are. (Much like Chucky and Tiffany from child’s play) And I like the idea of two messy people starting out as friends with benefits but slowly come to terms to want to do something serious and to try and their their shit together.

That was until the Circus episode came along…. THE FUCKING CIRCUS EPISODE 🙃🙃🙃🙃

They literally retconned things, did the childhood lovers cliche, and just woobified Stolas as a OwO baby boi who can do no wrong…. That whole episode frustrated me so much… we didn’t even get to see Stella’s pov than being a very bland kke note bitch (btw that is NOT how narcasstics work) and I was hoping he and Stella were equally messy to another like Clay and Bloberta from Moral Orel or Jessie’s parents form Big Mouth.

Dude Paimon wanting to buy Blitzo as a playmate for his son was so gross… that’s like when white aristocratic a buy child slaves as a playmate for their white children. Does Viv not realize how unitionally racist that is???? Since Stolas is white coded and Blitzo is POC coded???? This is why racism allegory never works if you don’t research history books…

Blitzo always found Stolas interest boring and Stolas literally sees blitzo as just as sex toy and nothing more! And they failed to address what happened with the Ozzie’s episode!

Also, I feel like shipping them both together soley because they’re both messy dads with angsty goth daughters feels kind of shallow…. Hell, I think that will make shit worse for Loona and Octavia. All that’s gonna do is make them fuck constantly while they dump Octavia on Loona. And as much as I don’t like Loona, she doesn’t deserve that.

I still think Loona and Octavia can be sisters WITHOUT hooking their dads up together. Best friends that are sisters by soul are a thing you know. I have close friends I consider my sisters without our parents hooking up.

But my hatred for this ship is mainly due to Octavia and how much of a neglectful asshole Stolas is to her… HE NEGLECTED HER TWICE BECAUSE BLITZO DADDY 🤪🤪🤪

Octavia is my favorite that I personally relate to because her situation REALLY hits close home or me as I have a dad like Stolas… I’m against this ship since I worry about her mental health.

I can go on and on but these are my thoughts about Stolas x Blitzo.

Now I will say, this ship is written so bad I’ve noticed some people that do ship them then complain about how they do NOT like how Viv is writing them in season 2. I can relate with that since I felt that way for Apriltello (tmnt 2012) and Haida x Restuko (Aggrestuko) since I used to be a fan of those ships but the way the writers dragged shit out too long and executed them killed mh joy for them… I don’t think it’s really fair and I think fans deserve more authentic chemistry for their ship.

This is legit making me considering pushing through my issues with Midnight Horizon because this can't be where we part ways. He's just so me. He stays behind for historiography. I loved historiography. He shows up kind of buzzed for an important journey. Do you know how many times I've gone through TSA still drunk? So many times. Ok not when I was 17 because I was kind of a square back then, but I for sure made up for it in my 20s. I love him. I think my issues with Midnight Horizon were 1) just being #done with forbidden romances. There are like 4 of them. I'd just read Gray's Lost Stars for book club (which was a disappointment). I don't love forbidden romances at the best of times and I was just over it. 2) some of the dialogue literally made me cringe it was so bad. But. I am considering powering through because Reath is just so me. I will say, this is probably because of my MH annoyance, but I do wish that Jora hadn't died, I think she was better for him than Cohmac is but...maybe that opinion will shift during this reread. I also really appreciate that this dodges some YA sins (unlike some others in this recap...👀 see below) by making a major theme be that the adults are equally as lost and stressed as our teenage protagonist. Like, they're sort of useless because yeah adults are also lost and confused sometimes, not just to get them out of the way of the plot. I just love the cut from Reath's POV being like 'look at them, they've got it all together, maybe when I'm an adult I won't feel so lost and uncertain' and then to all the adults' POVs being like '*internal screaming* what if I'm making a huge mistake.' I feel like, for me, this is what makes a YA book readable as a 30+ year old, treating the teen protagonist and the adult side characters with equal respect and depth.

Lord of the Rings chapter-a-day: I was supposed to finish this today, based on that blog's schedule, but once I fell behind I just decided to keep with the one chapter per day thing. Severance (AppleTV+): I love how for like half an episode I was like 'idk this might not be such a bad idea' because I have a lot of work-related dreams and I'm like, hm but if I can't remember work, will have I have nightmares about it, and then the show immediately spent the rest of that episode and the three following being like 'hey this is a fucking horror show'. What a nightmare. Possibly the most disturbing show I've watched all year so far. Patricia Arquette's character is legit a little triggering haha.

watching (film):

the only movies I watched this week were all of the Hunger Games movies. They put them on Netflix. And. Look. I have such a complicated relationship with the Hunger Games series, some of you might be like 'um don't you bitch about that series quite frequently' yes. Also, when Netflix puts them on I WILL watch all of them. I saw the new one in theaters. I'm committed but. Hunger Games rant incoming, this is one of those things that has gotten a bit ruined by the fandom. Because I really enjoy it -- at least the first two -- I just don't think it's a masterpiece that is so deep it should be taught in high schools. It's pretty shallow actually. The first two books/movies are so fun, they're tropey and fun and a great angsty setting. (When I'm in a certain mood, oof, Hunger Games AUs? Hit so hard.) But they do indulge in some YA sins. Like not as many as the wave of knockoffs that followed, for sure, but they're there. The one that bothers me the most Katniss is both a blank slate for the reader to project on, and also the only one that's ever right. None of the other characters have depth or development just so that Katniss can be right all the time, even though by Mockingjay that just makes her seem like a hypocrite. Mockingjay, both the book and the unnecessary two-part conclusion, is just abysmal. But it feels like both my enjoyment of the tropey dystopian first two books and my dislike of Mockingjay, gets this response of 'you just don't get it, Suzanne Collins is playing 5D chess--' and I'm sorry, I just don't buy it. Anyway, this is but a fraction of the rant I could go on, Netflix tried to email me a little 'what did you think of The Hunger Games' survey and I was like, Netflix, babe, you don't know what you're asking. I also apologize to everyone who has to put up with my commentary whenever I put these on, the victim this time was @aurorawest thank you for putting up with my commentary. Also Gwendoline Christie is in the last one for like 2 minutes and cannot do an American accent so that was kind of endearing. Ok. End Hunger Games rant.

Kinda pissy bc in my return to work interview (my line manager is on leave so my senior manager did it) she said oooh you've had 7 absences this year that's kind of a lot

but I just looked back through my calendar and I would say actually it's 5 1/2. Cause one I had a PTSD episode at lunchtime and called my boss in tears from my kitchen floor and I was gonna take the remaining 2.5 hours of my day off and work them back later and she was like nah man shut up you're off sick you don't owe anyone that time back. so that was not even a whole day it was like. A longish meeting's worth of time.

but also one illness is recorded as two absences because. and this'll teach me. I had flu but we had a tight deadline so I was off for a day, then came on to work for a day to meet that deadline, then I was off the next day, still with flu. so that's two separate absences. because I came into work when I should have been resting.

so like. Fuck me for trying I guess.

(it's not super relevant cause there's no real unifying condition that needs action. MH episode, migraine, flu, food poisoning, migraine, COVID. and we know about the migraines and have stuff in place to minimise them. Dalton: He smiled shyly as he observed his hands in hers, a warm closeness once again, filling the space between them, drawing him in, longing to be so much closer to her, feeling her very closeness nourishing his soul, heart, body and mind, craving so much more, yet still fearing she would suddenly get up and walk away with it all. Scared it would all be too good to be true. How could anyone love him… how could he deserve this? What is the deal breaker… there had to be at least a handful about him? The age? His looks? The drugs? … alcohol? His past? His work? He'd always be sporadic and on the go… surely she would get tired of it fast, when the novelty of dating a musician would inevitably fade? He took a deep shaky breath, trying to hang onto the warmth of her hands, and the sight of how well his hands fit in hers. In this moment, they both longed to express how their hands entwined made them feel, yet both too shy to speak it out loud

Dalton: He slowly parted his lips, and opened his mouth as he welcomed her in to the kiss, relieved and surrendering.

Malou: She caught a glimpse of his open mouth and tongue just as she leaned into the kiss, waking up the wailing butterflies once more, louder than ever before.

Dalton: He sighed soft with pleasure and relief as their lips and tongues finally connected. He had missed her all day, terribly, there was no point in denying it as they now melted into each other

Malou: A soft moan slipped her lips as she allowed her fingertips to slowly dig into his shirt, and lean deeper into their kiss.

Dalton: The butterflies in his own stomach quickly woke up again, and for a moment he forgot why he had ever doubted love? Why he had ever been scared?

Malou: She sensed his kiss sorta stumbling, and once again her own heart grew nervous. Didn't he like it? Her lips slowing down their kiss

Dalton: He sighed soft and pulled out of the kiss I'm sorry it's just I don't know… he shook his head and looked away, awkward and shy, fumbling for words I get nervous if… he sighed again If I'm good enough for you? I mean I really try to just put it to rest by now, but it keeps… just swirling around my head, weather I want to or not.

Malou: She nodded soft and slowly stood up, reaching a hand down to him

Dalton: He sighed deep and grabbed her hand, dragging himself up

Malou: I feel the same…. trust me she smiled soft you're…. nothing less but…. she chuckled soft and shyly a fucking dream…. no…. THE dream! And I guess I keep…. no…. I won't finish that sentence. She took a deep breath I… love you, Dalton, with no hidden agenda or anything like that. I just want to be with you, and I love you just the way you are. And I very much mean that. With my whole heart. There's nothing I would want to change about you, in any sort of way.

Dalton: He couldn't help but grin

Malou: She chuckled shyly don't look at me like that!

Dalton: Like what? He asked playfully, his grin turning more cheeky

Malou: She couldn't help but feel like she was melting right in front of him You know exactly what I mean!

Dalton: He laughed amused and wrapped his arms around her, squeezing her tight as he slowly swayed from side to side I love you too, you know… everything about you. And I wouldn't want to change you for anything, or anyone. He planted a big juicy kiss on the side of her neck But… he slowly pulled out of the hug, his face still radiant and happy can we just crawl to bed for tonight… I mean, it's not that I don't want to, and also not that I assume we were going to…. but… I think for tonight, I much rather just cuddle up with you than anything else, if that's alright?

Malou: She nodded agreeing yeah, let's get to bed.

And with that I've finished the first book (well for the millionth time I reread these so many times as a kid) the plot is honestly better than what the show did also Apple is way more fucked up and I love it. It's really 2013 though in a way that now makes me cringe. Also it handles the royals vs rebels thing better tbh, like it's a lot clearer who's on what side and the division is much stronger. Maddie is adorable as always, the Bella Sisters plot is like rly good I mean Apple and Raven spend a bit too long going to the cave but I think it's a way more effective plot for showing how little is known about destinies and also how manipulative Grimm is and did a way better job than the show at convincing me that Raven and Apple could be friends. Also the diversity is cool and the book does a better job at acknowledging the original fairytales than the show. Obviously I love the show and the book and there are reasons why each do certain things however I think the book is way more effective and (possibly obviously considering the focus of fairytales) honestly a better medium for this kind of story (plus the book isn't as held back by the need to be doll advertisements and quite so kid friendly).

Remembered I brought the eah books with me to uni (idk why I did that) and now I'm rereading them and shall be giving commentary on them (to avoid spam I'll compile notes so I'm not reblogging this with every individual thought but instead groups)

I cut this ask into two parts because this top part is....idk. I can't ignore it. So, I'm seeing this topic all around today, not just in my inbox.

I'm honestly a little confused. The manga strongly implies....honestly it goes beyond implications at this point, that Rei was not in agreement with Natsuo and Shouto. I mean....she literally was arguing saying it's not a good idea, and too cruel, and pointing out how Endeavor's plan is affecting the two kids they already have.

Then, when does she agree?

After showing us this terrified look on her face. I could go back and watch how the episode handled it and see if they truly removed that implication from the scene, but actually I won't even refer to the anime for this. Refer to the source material, because she looked fucking terrified and disturbed by her husband in that moment, and next thing we see is two babies, and an exhausted, clearly on the verge of losing her shit Rei.

I do think the terms of consent for the first two are debatable. There is a whole other discussion to be had about Rei's "choice" to accept the marriage proposal. I've seen very decent points made about how it could go either or on the consent train there from the get go.

What I'll say I agree with is that Touya and Fuyumi were not coerced out of her out of fear. They were the result of an arrangement she stepped into (again, consent in this area is debatable and just an entire other discussion that doesn't belong here).

Natsuo and Shouto though--I don't know what else Hori could have done to portray the horrific preceding circumstances to their births, aside from showing more detailed insight into Rei's head, making the manga much, much darker than I think Hori was willing to go. It's not subtle, it's not hard to figure out.

Natuso and Shouto were CLEARLY born into a different atmosphere than the first two. There is just....no debating that.

I do not agree anon. I'm sorry but I don't view the circumstances that preceded Natsuo's and Shouto's births as those of Rei being in agreement. That is, beyond agreeing to maintain her end of the deal. Which still, you can see the difference before her "holding up her end" when Touya and Fuyumi were born and when Natsuo and Shouto were born.

Former child welfare worker (an investigator no less) here in the US--the system here is shit.

I can confidently say without a doubt that, remove all the super power aspects of the Todoroki household from the equation, and you have a case of emotional abuse and neglect that the system would have pretty much no authority over. That is, unless Touya's self-harm was discovered by someone who was willing to report it (and even then, not much the system can or will do about it besides order the family to get MH services), or until Touya's death.

Yeah, idk. It really sucks. And I don't take anybody seriously who has these takes because they clearly have no idea what they're fucking talking about, and that's not my problem.

As someone who works with these situations often, has been involved in the midst of some nasty cases, and is uhh pretty heavily educated and trained in these areas--it's really hard for me to engage with people who just...want to say things to sound smart or trying to make some kind of "gotcha" point. I can't take a lot of takes about Rei seriously--those that demonize her AS WELL AS those that absolve her in the like--I can't listen to a lot of people talk about Touya either. I literally have 0 patience for it.
