i have this fucked up half baked au that takes place sometime in act three after ishas death and viktors third resurrection where singed fished silco out from the lake and turned him into a shimmer fueled cyborg and they work with the machine herald to take zaun back and also jinx is there but i only have 1/3 of a brain cell and lack the artistic ability to express it in any way other than this image

In an alternate universe, Powder gets caught and left behind when Jayce’s lab explodes. Realizing that she will likely be shipped off to some dismal prison or orphanage, Jayce argues that keeping her around will lure back the real culprits of the attack- she’s just a child, after all, and nobody was really harmed- besides, somebody has to keep an eye on her, and they were his crystals. What’s the harm in letting her tag along?

In an alternate universe, Viktor notices her genius and takes her under his wing, consults her on his experiments and encourages her to undertake her own. She becomes an expected presence in their lab, tinkering away at her own projects and offering a fresh perspective when Jayce and Viktor get stuck.

In an alternate universe, they notice her despair and betrayal when her sister doesn’t come back for her. They notice when she breaks down, her grief and rage, the internal violence her mind wreaks on her, and they search for a cure. They get her help and medicine, and if need be, they talk her through her delusions with cool, scientific detachment, explaining what is going on in her brain until it doesn’t scare her anymore. If, in the process of helping her, they both begin to reconcile with their own self destructive tendencies- well, that’s just a convenient side effect.

In an alternate universe, she is understood and listened to and valued, and she is not a weapon or a tool or a jinx. She is respected for her brilliance, and her illness is acknowledged and not feared, and her genius is put toward progress and not violence. She never quite fits outside the lab- she is a Zaunite, after all, and she clings to that identity with teeth and claws- and though Jayce never quite understands, Viktor always defends her to him.

In an alternate universe, she builds Viktor braces and prosthetics and mobility aids as his condition declines, new and improved with every model. They tweak the designs together, and their witty banter as they work staves off the threat of impending mortality, just for a while. Hextech products begin to sport animal motifs, a phenomenon that neither Jayce nor Viktor feel the need to explain. Their lab is covered in graffiti, which they both complain about, but never actually discourage.

In an alternate universe, Vi finds her sister, and she is eccentric, but not broken. She is supported and cared for and hailed as the protege of the two most brilliant scientists alive. She is angry and confused and betrayed, yes- but she is not alone, and she is not afraid.

And they can work with that.

Unpopular opinion :/

But, imo, by making Silco more 'Jinx-adjacent' in S2 and in the artbook, they ended up making him TOO pretty. And prettiness is not supposed to be the point of Silco's character. It's meant to be about inadequacy, about a meteor-sized chip on the shoulder, about never having enough to go around and always feeling as if the system is rigged against you.

I do adore how attractive young Silco is in S2 and all the attention it's getting his character. But I also can't help but feel they yassified him for palatability's sake - in every sense - and kinda robbed the character of the bite and bitterness that made him such an intriguing revolutionary type villain in the first place.

i think the thing that pisses me off about the arcane fandom is that it seems like far to many people are missing the point of the show. like so many people are out here hating on characters (talking mostly about Jayce and Vi cause they're receiving the majority of the hate in my experience) for fucking up and having flaws when, like. that was the point. literally everyone did that. the show is such a great representation of how experiences shape people, because every single person in that show had different motivations and had their judgement clouded by the pain and suffering they experienced. not a single one of them was perfect, but all of them had good intentions.

not to mention these are always the same people that are out here defending their favorite characters because "they were TRAUMATIZED". okay and? take a number babe. so was everyone else. i thought we established long ago that backstories dont justify shit, they just explain it. if Vi doesnt get a pass for her mistakes, Jinx doesnt get a pass on being a mass murderer. stop hating on certain characters when, by your own logic, you should be hating on your faves too.

My headcanon is in the "good" timeline, Zaun dads reunite because Vander had no idea how to handle a grieving Powder and called up Silco like "hey I know you hate me but our bestie's daugher just lost her sister and idk how to handle it" and the next day Silco showed up with the nail polish

I absolutely love the little head touch that Silco and Jinx do in the first scene after the time-skip where Jinx is apologizing for messing up on the mission. It's such a sweet, subtle way to show their genuine affection for one another and it reminds me of my relationship with my own father.

isn't it interesting how vander hurt others (namely silco but also his actions resulted in other zaunites who took part in the same uprising getting hurt) and regretted it so much that he projected the crushing responsibility of leadership, the necessity for protection and his own guilt onto young vi, while silco was so betrayed and hurt (namely by vander but also in general by his upbringing and experience living in zaun) and it angered him so much he projected a desire for destruction, power and "showing others" onto jinx
