The kits!

They're the ones Birch was carrying, since one litter can have multiple fathers. And since the base came with extra headshots, I decided to put the parents! They look so pretty

Also it's hard to see on the ref, but Nettlekit's stripes are few close to her front legs and increase at her hind legs, wrapping all around.

I took this as an opportunity to learn more about neopronouns, since I only know the basic-basics. I managed to learn that some, such as Ze, can be used to replace "he/she/they," or at least that's as far as the internet tells me.

The only problem is that while I learned more about the difference between neopronouns and pronouns like "he, she," I couldn't find a whole lot on the differences between the neopronouns themselves, like how Ze differs from Xe.

So if you know enough to explain it to me or can lead me to a great source that describes it well, let me know! I'm always open to learning more

The litters were born close to the same time. The couple's friend, Webfang (a bio LilywaterXWebstripe, adoptive ScaleearsXIvyspots kit), was the donor for both.

Doefire is in a poly with Weepingwobble (a FadingstarXFleathistle kit) and Lilyclaw (a bio LilywaterXWebstripe, adoptive ScaleearsXIvyspots kit). Weeping is the father to Ibex and Coyote, while Lily is the father to Osprey and Scorpion.

Age Differences For The Kits:

1) Lightswan was adopted when she was roughly four moons old (this age could change as it is an estimation).

2) Molechive and Froststorm died five moons after Lightswan at age five moons, making her five moons older than them.

3) Ashmint died at two moons old twenty-three moons after Molechive and Froststorm died, making them twenty-six moons older than him.

4) Proteafang, Doefire, Fressiakit, and Jaykit were born one moon after Ashmint died and are three moons younger than him. Protea and Doe were adults when their parents became a poly and when both their younger siblings were born (Jay and Fressia died).

5) Adderclaw, Larksnow, and Haretuft are twenty-five moons younger than Proteafang and Doefire, and were born four moons after their parents became an official poly. They are also one moon older than Cloudstep and Sootshade (their mothers being pregnant at almost the same time).

6) Maplefang, Feathergale, Toadjay, and Shellmink were born thirty-two moons after 5 earned their full names, making them at least 44 moons younger

7) Chukarvole, Pasquelull, Tritoniafinch, and Choughwolf were born 376 moons after 6 was born, making them that much younger.

8) Mallowblight was 4.5 moons old when their younger siblings were born. When they were old enough to walk (waddle, more of), Mallowkit lead them to milk, and they joined the Tunnel family. This was roughly 142 moons after 7 were born, making Halfsong, Thornbloom, and Fireclaw that much younger and Mallowblight 137.5 moons younger.

Going with a big timespan for Ashmint because it’s odd to have so many kits go to the DF at around the same time, so want to spread it out a bit.

That's also why I stretched out their ages from the original: they have so many kits because they're dead for eternity, so why have all the kits born within a lifetime of each other?

The 7th litter was born so long after 6 because all the parents had a litter with the other (FoxXBirch, GorseXBirch, GorseXEmber, EmberXFox), so none of them felt a 'need' for another litter. It's possible they weren't planned.

The specific number, 376, was chosen because that is twice the age of Mistystar, who lived a long life.

since i am so normal i started up an earthspark warrior cats au and then my friends (hi friends @echoblaze5 @benadrylcandlewhack @velvety-vixen @badgerdigsbones @satellitedish38) brainstormed more ideas for it so big thanks to them. anyways here's the stuff under the cut:

okay so i'm still chipping away at actual plot but the current sort of story is that megatron (he's called stoneheart in this au and badger came up with that name so ty badger) led his own clan that was basically the decepticons and went to war with the autobot clan. at a certain point he has a bit of a change of heart and is like "so guys. maybe this fighting isn't worth it"

his warriors are understandably like "dude what the fuck do you mean. we've been fighting for YOU and now you're backing out. traitor" and he ends up getting chased out. optimus (who i havent thought of a name for yet) is like "oh you silly goose. if you want peace then come on over and live with us!!!"

it's. a big adjustment.

he goes from stonestar to stoneheart and literally no one but optimus trusts him because they used to be pretty tight

also this has no big impact on the plot but i thought it'd be cool if autoclan (that is NOT their actual name i am working on it!!!) lived in a cave on a mountain and decepticlan (again not their name) lived on an island in a lake to sort of resemble how things were in g1. you know with the ark in the mountain and the nemesis underwater. yeah you get it

ANYWAAAYSSS. decepticlan's a bit messy after they drove out stoneheart because they didn't really think that far ahead, it all just kind of happened. starscream (who i'm gonna call finchshriek for now) is like "guys i'm the deputy so duh i'm the leader"

back in autoclan barn cats dot and alex join with their apprentice-aged kits robby and mo!!! most of the humans r probably kittypets (suggested by echo) but the maltos are barn cats and they r small enough to lay on fluffy ears

everyone loves fluffy ears

eventually dot and alex have two more kits, twitchkit and thrashkit! because yeah if we can have kits with the prefix "flip" then they can keep their names

stoneheart's been a warrior in autoclan for a while now and optimus is like "hey. hey watch this" and makes him twitchpaw's mentor when the time comes

okay pretty much everyone was talking about this (except me cuz i was drawing) but miko is a hardcore kittypet with a spiked collar and her owners put pink streaks in her fur. she follows bulkhead around a lot and talks his ear off. and we came to the conclusion that bulkhead is also a valid warrior name!!!!

also elita is the deputy of autoclan. i might name her something like rosethorn

twitchpaw and thrashpaw's warrior names r twitchflight and thrashkick

nightshade, jawbreaker, and hashtag also exist. nightshade already has a warrior name so that one was easy. jawbreaker might be called something like boulderjaw (or who knows might just say fuck it and keep jawbreaker) and for hashtag, we settled on the prefix "flash"

jawbreaker's mentor is gonna be grimlock. hashtag's will be rosethorn

i just thought of this while typing but i think the dinobots could all just be a random litter of kits wheeljack found abandoned in the wounds and he'd adopt them

speaking of wheeljack!!! he is missing an ear and has a bobtail because velvet said so and is absolutely correct. that's kinda it for him for now

bumblebee is called beestrike!!! as an apprentice he was friends with breakdown (who i might call blueleap or blueskip cuz he's got a fearless attitude or whatever) and they'd meet up at gatherings and sometimes in secret by sneaking out of their camps. ben was like "bee could be like how graystripe was whenever he saw silverstream and make little cat biscuits" and yeah that's pretty much him. once the war breaks out their friendship becomes strained and even when there's peace, it's gonna be a little awkward at first

i dont know if i'd bring knockout into the au but he was easy to think of. he's decepticlan's medcat and is named scarletshine

Was given the prompt by Ryan of “Cattlepaw’s paranoia surrounding his father, Softstep, whom he looked up to up until he dislocated his (Cattlepaw’s) arm.” Okay, we can work with this! She also told me that Cattlepaw suffers from constant nightmares of drowning. Ooh, even more symbolism to work with. I decided to use this drowning metaphor to encapsulate Cattlepaw in his own personal water droplet, meaning to sort of resemble a ship in a bottle-like look. This is meant to show how disconnected he is from the people around him and how he’s kinda stuck in his own fuzzy bubble of paranoia (I’m sure we’ve all felt similar sometimes). With this underwater theme clear, I wanted to make the entire piece deep-sea themed. Because what do we think of when we imagine the deep sea? Unpredictable, scary, unknown. Sounds pretty similar to Mr. Cattlepaw here! So, I asked Ryan to give me a couple more of the people in Cattle’s life who kinda “fueled him to where he is today”, yknow? And here I was given his mother and sister :) yay!! The fish skeletons were definitely the hardest to draw, especially the ribs beneath Silkweb which you can hardly even see under her silhouette 😭 but sometimes that’s okay!! I know his arm was just dislocated, but I decided to completely pull it apart to show how Cattle has disassociated from it since the attack. I mean, it’s just a reminder of how stupid he must’ve been to trust his dad. Poor guy.

Tell Us A Story - Fading Hollow

Decided to write a real short thing for my silly cat story as a way to wake my brain up. Very little plot to this. Myeh

Word Count: 856 | Gen | G | Warnings: Animal Death Mention

Balls of walking fur stumbled over each other as they excitedly gathered for a story in the elders' den. They mewled in delight as they drew closer to their clanmates. An old grey molly grinned broadly at the kittens as she waited for them to calm down enough to hear her tale. They squirmed for a few more minutes, a few play fighting when they collided. When they were sitting still under the rock overhang, she spoke up. “Now then, what story should I tell you kits now?” she mused aloud. While she hummed to herself in thought, a large kit, larger in fact that a couple of the novi, but still retaining her round infant proportions, tumbled forward. She shook dust out of her short, tan fur before looking up at the elder with interest.

“Can you tell us about the Catastrophe?” she inquired, the dull blue of her recently opened eyes bright with curiosity. Mewls of agreement rolled through the group until one of the sentinels watching them cleared his throat, which they obeyed with ease. With the kittens silent, she considered the request.

“Well, no harm in hearing it I suppose,” she began, flicking her ears, “listen well, kittens, because this is how our clans began, way back in the old days. You see, before I was born- before even my mama and her mama before her were born, there were no clans. No, not at all. There were unsteady alliances between lone cats, mostly mothers caring for young kits, but no camps and no leaders. Most cats fended for themselves, living day to day and hunting in the lawless wild. Other cats lived with the Giants, big furless animals who stood on two paws instead of four, living in their massive dens and eating their dry, hard food. This was the way of cats for countless moons, and none were eager to change it.

Then one day, the sky glowed red, brighter and longer than any sunrise, and the giants began to flee. The air grew heavy with smoke and the smell of rot as they climbed into their tamed metal beasts, running far away from this land. A good many left behind the soft cats they kept in their nests to die. When the rumble of their beasts finally stilled, we cats grew curious and searched around. The air took on a vile scent and a sickness spread throughout the territories, killing many cats of the remaining cats.”

The kittens gasped and murmured among themselves, despite having heard the story before. They were invested for the long run. With a purr of satisfaction, the molly continued her tale.

“Along came a group of four who carried the harsh smell of Giants' herbs. They spoke different from the cats who lived here, using unfamiliar words. They said the Giants altered them, but not in the usual way. Instead of taking away their scents or ability to bear and sire kits, they used their strange herbs on them to make the cats think like Giants. Well, the Four warned the cats that the mistakes of the Giants would kill them all if they didn't band together and keep each other safe. None would listen. Queens would raise kits together and toms would hunt alone as they always had, these cats believed. The altered cats, those who lived with the Giants and lost their scent, decided to follow the Four, though, and were the only to do so.

In the coming moon, queens lost kits to the rampant illness and could find little prey to eat. They grew desperate and, remembering the Four's words, sought them out. They picked up their remaining young and traveled back to the hard-stone clearing where they last saw the group. What they found was mighty odd for these cats to see. Unrelated cats with no kits hunting for everyone and sharing tongues. The Four welcomed the queens eagerly, allowing them to share in the prey and safety. More cats followed later, first the single mollies and young cats, then the older toms who'd swallowed their pride.

But there were quickly too many cats to live in the same small camp and hunt in the same territory. So the Four divided the group between themselves and settled their own camps far away from the original camp. These camps became our clans in time, which we still live in.” The molly finished her story, then yawned and stretched. Some of the little furballs had curled up into a pile for a nap, but the kit that first asked for the story drew closer to the elder.

“Will there ever be another catastrophe, Thistlejaw?” the kit inquired with large watery eyes.

“I can't be sure. I don't think so, but I know that if there were we'd figure it out together, just as we do now. Come then, lay beside me in the sunlight. We're safe here,” the older cat said, gesturing to the soft bed of moss beside her. The kit plopped down happily and was soon snoring away, snuggled into her clanmate's soft fur.

★ — These same wolfdogs have been heard by the outsiders near the farm and graveyard. 

★ — Hawkfall and Fernpath of Thunderclan have a wedding!  

★ — Percy, Shelly and Morpheus are living with the kittypets. 

★ — Crowley, Tamerlane and Orbit are living with the street cats. 

★ — Lenore, Nadria and Akila are seeking shelter with Rye at the farm.
