Was in a pretty nasty art block for the past few days, but yknow what I could draw? Warriors cats (sarcastic yayy.. not particularly fond of the fandom but I must admit sometimes it’s fun to design some crazy cats)

I had made this cute little warriors story and honestly I ended up. Liking it a lot.. this won’t EVER be as important as my actually cool and more meaningful stories but it’s fun to draw them :)

All 3 of these kitties were apart of this thing called “The New Revolution”, aka a handful of clan cats looking to completely rebrand the warrior code as of how old and outdated it was. There was a cat in each clan who was to overtake their current leader and become the new one, rebranding as the “new clan founder” w/ a new name and everything!

Drizzlemumble was Thunderstar’s right-hand man and was his biggest supporter throughout Thunder’s work towards reformation of the code. He was a valuable ally and did a lot of good and useful political pushing when Thunderstar was a bit too scared to do his own work. He would constantly talk about leading the clan alongside Thunderstar, which Thunder was on board with up until he started to really think about how violent and reckless Drizzle could be at times. He had to let Drizzle down.. which turned out not too great.

Drizzle’s design is inspired off of equites and knights, kinda playing onto his second-hand-place that he had thorough-out his time as a revolutionist. His ears are tied together to sort of resemble the feather that sticks out of a helmet, and his sideburns and forehead are outlined in a way to shape like a helmet. He also has this big mat of chest fur that kind of is meant to be like a chainmail plate! A couple scars and cuts here and there to characterize him as reckless and impulsively-violent, and a couple arrows in the back for a distinct, clear design detail.

Thunderstar is the revolutionist who was to take over ThunderClan after dethroning his old leader. He’s a descendant of the Tigerstar/Firestar bloodline and, despite one of the main criticisms of ThunderClan was their familial hierarchy that had gone on for generations, people didn’t exactly seem unrestful that he decided to step up. He and Drizzlemumble had mentioned a lot that Thunderstar never planned to have kits to stop this lineage once and for all, but that changed when he met his current mate and they had a litter of 2. This was post-kicking out Drizzle, and after not only being booted but ALSO seeing Thunder have a litter after swearing up and down he wouldn’t? Nuh uh. Drizzle ends up going into a (warriors cliche) blind rage, murdering the kits, and tearing apart Thunderstar’s backend which rendered him infertile. Since that, Thunder has been traumatized ever since and has actually disbanded ThunderClan as a whole, telling everyone they were on their own.

Thunder’s design is a whole mix of things. The thought process went “I want to inspire him after the North Star” to “let’s do the entire dipper constellation” to “what even is a dipper” to “ITS A BIRD!!” I know that the dipper constellations aren’t meant to be the bird but how could I resist!! I gave Thunder a lot of bird like features like his muzzle, his round flank and his twiggy little legs. BUT!! you can also see the North Star look in his face, as all of his fur points come together to make the North Star symbol (think the compass rose with 8 directions!)

Shadowstar is the cat who dethroned ShadowClan’s old leader and took it over herself. Born with a physical disability that left her front legs permanently crumbled, she learned how to walk on branch prosthetics which, even if they did raise her a bit higher than the rest of her clan and gave her a slight ache in her back from constantly being in an unnatural posture, it worked for her. When it was discovered that a massive, half-wild Rushing Water cat was living on the territory and wished to join ShadowClan, Shadowstar easily fell in love with her and convinced the she-cat (named She Who Crushes Ice) to join her cause. Now as leader, she has expanded her clan to the abandoned twoleg areas in their territory, adapting them to the clan needs and allowing for “camp” to be separated and more spaced out like a commune. Now with the current main plot (WAYY too much to talk about rn!!) she is raising a kit that Thunderstar gave her with her mate and is all in all just doing her leader duties of keeping her clan safe and her borders protected.

Shadowstar is inspired off of clay golems and their geometric, blocky shapes. I thought this would pair well with her prosthetics as those are inherently blocky in themselves? I’ve seen people draw spirals and joint separations in their golems and I was like “I wanna do that too!” And do that I did with her patterns :)!

Art trade w/ friend Ryan, starring characters Silkweb (top), Twitchkit (middle-top), Cattlepaw (middle-bottom), + Softstep (bottom)

Art breakdown down below ⬇️

Was given the prompt by Ryan of “Cattlepaw’s paranoia surrounding his father, Softstep, whom he looked up to up until he dislocated his (Cattlepaw’s) arm.” Okay, we can work with this! She also told me that Cattlepaw suffers from constant nightmares of drowning. Ooh, even more symbolism to work with. I decided to use this drowning metaphor to encapsulate Cattlepaw in his own personal water droplet, meaning to sort of resemble a ship in a bottle-like look. This is meant to show how disconnected he is from the people around him and how he’s kinda stuck in his own fuzzy bubble of paranoia (I’m sure we’ve all felt similar sometimes). With this underwater theme clear, I wanted to make the entire piece deep-sea themed. Because what do we think of when we imagine the deep sea? Unpredictable, scary, unknown. Sounds pretty similar to Mr. Cattlepaw here! So, I asked Ryan to give me a couple more of the people in Cattle’s life who kinda “fueled him to where he is today”, yknow? And here I was given his mother and sister :) yay!! The fish skeletons were definitely the hardest to draw, especially the ribs beneath Silkweb which you can hardly even see under her silhouette 😭 but sometimes that’s okay!! I know his arm was just dislocated, but I decided to completely pull it apart to show how Cattle has disassociated from it since the attack. I mean, it’s just a reminder of how stupid he must’ve been to trust his dad. Poor guy.
