To my fellow US Americans: If you are planning on arming yourselves because of the election results and what might be on the horizons, I urge you to be a responsible gun owner.

Take as many classes as you can. Get certified in gun safety, even if it's not required to own a gun in your state. Get a gun safe. A good gun safe. Lock your gun up. Don't leave it armed. Don't wave your guns or gun-owning status around and don't pose with guns like they're toys. I'd say not to make gun buying an impulse purchase, either. You are investing in something that holds great potential risk to yourself and others - treat it like a responsibility.

I'm not here to argue about if Americans ought to exercise the second amendment in the way it currently exists. That's not the point - we have always had the second amendment, and I doubt it's going anywhere. I am more interested in making sure we don't see a surge in accidental, negligent gun ownership.

As a queer person in the US, I can understand the mindset behind people's spiked interest in arming themselves. I'm not arguing against that. As a child of gun owners, I know just how huge a responsibility it is to own a gun, and I hate the general attitude we Americans have about guns. Please don't contribute to that. If you own a gun, it is you inherent responsibility to take care of that gun (which is why I can't own a gun yet - I don't have the resources to pour into proper ownership).

Yesterday I watched a video of a toddler in Gaza playing with a little red bicycle startle and cry at the sound of a bomb. Today I found the IOF had invaded their house, shot and killed the little boy in front of his mother and thrown them all into the street.

And it wasn't even the only child on my TL that had been killed the same way because the IOF are taking over all the houses still standing in Northern Gaza. The way people are becoming anti-children nowadays is really sad. And I'm not talking about people not wanting to have kids of their own, that's fine and something that shouldn't be shamed nor up to someone else to debate. No, I'm talking about the people who adamantly hate these little humans for simply existing, wanting to ban them from spaces due to them having emotional reactions that they are still learning to understand (you know, the kind of lessons that everyone had to learn and figure out at one point). It's gotten to the point where I've even seen these types of people genuinely support children being harmed and deny their hurt under the consensus of "Well then maybe they shouldn't be there," in your average public space. Like, imagine thinking hating on children, people who need assistance and guidance, is something to be proud of.

Yes….and also no…this is pretty complicated since this is a touchy subject, so this’ll be a personal answer.  

It’s not that they can’t, on the other hand, it’s just they just typically don’t? This is because they’re the children of death-related/chthonic deities, so it feels a bit disingenuous to their godly parent realms and their identity. This means they should see spirits of the dead with the marks of decomposition and anything death related because that’s part of death.  On the other hand, they are able to see what they looked like in their prime, because that’s their soul and are able to set an environment. 

Personally, the middle-ground answer is really that the spirits appearance is based on the state of their soul which influences how they appear. Children of Chthnoic deities are able to see and influence their appearance as either more living-like or more death-like because that’s part of their domain.

TLDR; is no, he would not target kids specifically.

So, I think for starters it depends on how we define kid—do we mean anyone under the age of 18? Or a prepubescent child? Generally, I see him being open to killing teenagers… but I feel like he might not get much out of killing young children.

I can explain this here, it’s pretty simple. Children make good witnesses. An orphaned child also creates a sob story, and it creates a sense of anxiety in parents about the concept of their own mortality. You get continued publicity by way of continued community engagement about how this poor little murder orphan is doing.

Killing a kid gets fear and outrage… but it’s going to get lost pretty quickly among the rest of the murders, and at most it…what? Makes parents sequester their kids in their homes more?

I think his primary targets are always adults, whether they be young college students barely out of highschool or Grandma Shirley who lives down the block. I think teens would be a spur of the moment kill, something to keep engagement up, or otherwise collateral victims if they happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time when he’s targeting their parent(s).

Teens, like adults, are also a little bit better at trying to fight back. There’s going to be a little bit more of a thrill element related to it… whereas a child tends to have a very basic series of responses, cry, bite, scream, etc. They can’t really fight back… I honestly think he would probably only kill a kid if they posed a risk to him, like if his mask came off or something.

I think it’s a bit of a power complex thing… but I genuinely think he wouldn’t feel a need to target a child when his first kill was his dad. Like… if you can take out a middle aged man in presumably his prime… why would you need to purposely target children?

I think he wouldn’t target babies for the same reason (straight up just the baby scene from Halloween 2018).

I could see him maybe killing a pregnant woman though? Not entirely sold on this one. Feels a little dark, so maybe it would be the same as kids or teens where he doesn’t target them specifically, but it’s fair game when all bets are off.

ADDENUM: now that it’s been brought to my attention, I realize I failed to make one part clear. I think if he came up with a story that involved a child/pregnant person/a senior/ any sort of category that one might consider “bad to kill”…. I think he would still do it.

I think the story ultimately takes the priority, but it depends on what story he’s trying to tell.

Similarly, because his job as a reporter and interviewing family and friends is more likely to bring him into contact with other adults (since most people try to shield their kids and teens from horrible events)… the result still ends up being where he is more likely to focus on adults.

But I don’t really think it’s a “moral” decision. It’s based entirely on what he gets out of it.

So it's been established that demons Aren't evil they aren't even really "supernatural" to an extent that they're just a subspecies of humans that has more innate access to magic than homo sapiens do. That being said Dearest is Fucking Evil lol has been for a long time. Got to where he is today by manipulating people and murdering his competition. He knows he's fucked up everyone who knows him personally knows he's fucked up. But he did it all to have adoring fans which he now has.

And then he has a kid who isn't the brightest but she's extremely loving and forgiving and basically his biggest fan. Having regular fans is one thing but having a person on the inside who is constantly showering you in praise and sees no faults in you is even more of a drug to Dearest. So he puts as much time and energy into maintaining this as he can. He becomes a stay at home dad and spends all his time with his daughter, making absolutely sure she stays exactly the way she is for as long as he can

So this is why he's so hostile to anyone she has contact with outside. Both the risk of a romantic partner taking her away from him but also generally having Any contact with "normal" people runs the risk of her realizing that she's been treated extremely horribly her entire life.
