To my fellow US Americans: If you are planning on arming yourselves because of the election results and what might be on the horizons, I urge you to be a responsible gun owner.

Take as many classes as you can. Get certified in gun safety, even if it's not required to own a gun in your state. Get a gun safe. A good gun safe. Lock your gun up. Don't leave it armed. Don't wave your guns or gun-owning status around and don't pose with guns like they're toys. I'd say not to make gun buying an impulse purchase, either. You are investing in something that holds great potential risk to yourself and others - treat it like a responsibility.

I'm not here to argue about if Americans ought to exercise the second amendment in the way it currently exists. That's not the point - we have always had the second amendment, and I doubt it's going anywhere. I am more interested in making sure we don't see a surge in accidental, negligent gun ownership.

As a queer person in the US, I can understand the mindset behind people's spiked interest in arming themselves. I'm not arguing against that. As a child of gun owners, I know just how huge a responsibility it is to own a gun, and I hate the general attitude we Americans have about guns. Please don't contribute to that. If you own a gun, it is you inherent responsibility to take care of that gun (which is why I can't own a gun yet - I don't have the resources to pour into proper ownership).

So does anyone else think about what the Mushroom Kingdom must be like during the events of Super Paper Mario? Does anyone think about how the Void is basically a black hole and should probably mess with gravity and rip buildings apart? Does anyone think about the sky turning red as the wold begins to shake, and all of the Toads huddling together in the castle, boarding up the doors out of fear. Do you think that, during the final battle in Castle Bleck, if the castle is falling apart, Peach can see through the Void and see her kingdom being destroyed? Do you think it even existed anymore at that point? Do you think the Mushroom Kingdom disappeared like Sammer's Kingdom and the Land of Cragnons? Do you think Peach realizes this? Do you ever just. Think about the Mushroom Kingdom...?

After a russian missile strike on Chernihiv killed 6 year old Sophia 64 000(!!!) russians posted and reposted jokes, such as "Chernihiv. Selling child sandals. Unworn."

When russian missile hit Vinnytsya in 2022, killing 23 people among whom was 4 year old Lisa, tens of thousands of russians online mocked her disability, laughing at her death, or even making open claims that she's better off dead.

They think murdering children is funny. They think dead children are funny.

It's definitely not "just Putin". The russian society is rotten to its core.

Yesterday I watched a video of a toddler in Gaza playing with a little red bicycle startle and cry at the sound of a bomb. Today I found the IOF had invaded their house, shot and killed the little boy in front of his mother and thrown them all into the street.

And it wasn't even the only child on my TL that had been killed the same way because the IOF are taking over all the houses still standing in Northern Gaza. They took over the school shelters, made the men hiding in them strip to their underwear in the freezing winter, lining them up and shooting them like dogs. They're ripping up hundreds of years old trees in groves. THEY'RE FLOODING GAZA WITH SEA WATER.

Meanwhile:

clytemnestra loses iphigenia at the onset of the war and is never able to love any of her other children, because she can focus all her energy on revenge

andromache loses astyanax in the last days of the war and still loves her child born into slavery, having no power to get revenge but focusing her energy on his survival

clytemnestra's power is limited and gendered, and certainly many real enslaved people have continued the cycle of abuse with their children... suffering makes people worse in almost every way and every case, etc. but i do think it's an interesting point of comparison for the victimization of each woman with respect to her children in these tragedies. clytemnestra's most important fantasy is of getting revenge for her dead child, so that in a way she sacrifices her other children, and andromache's is of getting to keep her living child

How did the trappers justify killing child titans? Did they think stuff like “it’s just another one” and “it’ll grow up into a monster”?

Essentially, the trappers justified their actions by dehumanizing titans, no matter their age. They didn’t see children; they saw inevitable threats. Most likely the explanations like, 'It’s one of them' or 'It’ll grow up into a monster,' were some of them, reducing them more to their potential for power rather conscious beings they are. It’s the same pattern in steps of genocide—turning a group into 'the enemy,' making them seem like a danger to everyone else. The power imbalance and separation between the witches and the titan just made it worse, letting them frame what they were doing as survival or revenge instead of cruelty.

Echoes of this stuck around long after, like when Bill talked about titans and said even the young ones 'act like royalty.' With titans avoiding exposure of their relativly powerless young to protect them, there was little 'positive' or normal interaction to stop these beliefs before they became too extreme
