"I hope we get a book about Finnick's game one day" WHY?! Literally fucking why? Why do you want it? It's just the first book again but instead of two 17 years old being force to fake date to survive it's a 14 years old boy being groomed and pimped. I love Finnick as much a next person but trust me we don't need that

Months of reading how Armand is the Big Bad man behind the curtain manipulating and mindcontrolling everyone with his godlike powers, and now suddenly in one day it switched to cruel Pimp Louis manipulating and enslaving Armand and Armand being his poor victim. I'm begging you to look at these characters and their relationships with some nuance. I'm not denying that Louis is trying to manipulate Armand in some moments (Jacob said it himself in the post-episode bit) but seeing that park scene as Louis intentionally evoking Armand's trauma and a pimp and slave assuming their old roles is in my opinion a stretch and i didn't read it that way. Tbh i also find it pretty offensive that some people are acting like when Louis was a pimp he was doing something similar to people who subjected Armand to literal sexual slavery because they're vastly different situations.
Arun isn't Armand's 'slave name' or 'prostitute name', it was his actual birth name before he was sold and abused, and he lost that name due to abuse. If Louis had actually wanted to push a master-slave dynamic he would've probably called Armand Amadeo, because that was the name Armand's abuser, who Armand served and in some way still loves, gave to him. When Louis was a pimp he notably also didn't actually act particularly domineering with sex workers, on the contrary he was usually friendly to them, because he felt guilty for exploiting women and tried to convince himself he was just helping and working with them and that they were equals. He made sex workers like Bricktop Williams minority owners of his business and they felt comfortable with criticizing him. If Louis had actually 'treated Armand like one of his prostitutes' in this episode he would've acted completely differently. Remember also that Armand has a remarkable mind gift and that Louis is bad at hiding his thoughts: if Louis had actually been trying to manipulate Armand in this specific way, Armand would very likely know it.
In the beginning of the episode Armand is frustrated that Louis doesn't acknowledge that they're companions, and Louis expresses that they don't really know each other. Later at the restaurant Armand gets angry and uses his powers dramatically which upsets Louis. He also talks to Louis rather harshly, saying that he and Santiago are acting like fledglings (children) and angrily tells Louis to come back when he leaves. Later Armand comes to apologize bringing flowers. All this reminds Louis of Lestat, and reveals how apprehensive he still is about Armand. Armand deciding to tell Louis his story is a conscious effort to show vulnerability and convince Louis of what he promised: that Armand isn't like Lestat and he isn't going to hurt him. Jacob said that dreamstat represents not only Lestat but Louis' doubts about Armand. In the museum scene this is particularly obvious when Louis feels deep sympathy for Armand, but at the same time dreamstat - a part of Louis - looks angry and distrustful. According to Jacob in the park scene as Louis lets go of Lestat he's also letting go of those doubts and accepting Armand as he is and for who he is.
So when Louis calls Armand by his birth name that could be considered his 'real' name even though no one has called him that for centuries, i see it as him saying 'Do we see each other now? Are we honest about things now? Can i trust that you are who you say you are?' When Armand calls Louis maitre he's trying to establish an impression of equality, because as they both know Armand is the maitre and the leader of the coven and the one with much more power. For Armand the ideal of love is the one of mutual worship and servitude. Like many things with Armand, his actions in this episode are both sincere and manipulative, and his seeming submissiveness is also certain kind of domination that helps him to get what he wants.
I just don't think their relationship is anything like Louis being a master and Armand being a slave at all. It's a very, very complicated and mercurial relationship that is not easily defined and where the dynamics are constantly shifting. As Jacob said, they're constantly flip-flopping between who's the dominant one and who's the submissive one, and who needs what out of the other. He also said that at the end of this episode their relationship takes on this almost BDSM kind of role playing where their roles switch, which implies that a) it's a play and not what their relationship is actually like and b) there was earlier a different dynamic where Armand was more dominant. Their Rashid role play in Dubai was also that, a role play.
When talking about those Louis' 'manipulative instincts' as Jacob called them, it needs to be considered they're something that Louis developed having to live in a racist society for all his life ("using his weakness to rise") and being in an abusive relationship for decades. For Louis that kind of soft power has often been the only power he has, and of course he's resorting to it when in a relationship with much older and much more powerful person he doesn't fully trust. The way i perceive Louis and Armand's relationship, it's a fragile, carefully crafted design built on contradictions, performances and illusions, where they both seek to maintain a fantasy where they both feel sufficiently in control and the relief of releasing that control at the same time
#i think others have said the same things much better than me but i've read like 800 times now#people adding tags on my posts about pimp louis being back etc. and i'm getting tired#iwtv#iwtvposting#interview with the vampire#vampterview#sa tw

Alastor sighs. No one's paying attention to him and he's bored.
He's going to shamelessly watch porn videos on his phone while lounging around with his legs spread wide open. One is even draped over the side of the chair he's in to make sure they stay parted.

Maybe I’m just being oversensitive but it’s always bugged me how dismissive the fandom is with Louis being a literal pimp and brothel(s) owner in 1910…..because that comes with a lot of baggage and just because he loses his brothels by ep 3 it’s like everyone forgets about it. Of course all the characters are vampires! So morality about that is kind of splitting hairs but it does inform so much his character and you lose a lot when you don’t acknowledge the brutality he engages in while discussing his other very human loving sensitive side. The mass sexual exploitation and abuse for his status and luxury is meant to serve as the appropriate and modernised equivalent of book Louis’ plantation owning right? But it’s not given the any weight by some fans which is annoying, do you think it’s because Louis in the show does such a good job of softening it in his narration? Like when he describes supposedly ‘looking after his girls’ better when he gets more money, and letting them being minority owners when it suits him. Idk I think it would be interesting if that’s revisited and we see much like with Claudia, he glossed over the ugliness of the harm he caused the women.
Rolin Jones pulled the ultimate trick when he cast Jacob, namely making Louis not only beautiful but also likable - despite the more than questionable decisions.
And of course Louis glosses over things, he suppresses them - apart from the moments when it breaks out of him, like in the confession scene, or when Daniel calls him out on the bullshit at the end of the season…
As mentioned before it has been said that all will be revisited and… well. I do think this is part of it.
We saw Louis‘ tale in s1 - he asked Daniel (and us) to let the tale seduce us… and Im quite sure the parallels will be opened up there as well, the parallels to the bloodwhores he has (Damek), or the money, status and apartment in Dubai of all places (which isn’t exactly known for being supportive of his sexuality, for example).
I don’t think the show is done with that detail yet and I think it will be one of those things that will only be fully unfolded over several seasons. Because this show is far from done with the abuse vector either (and there is a lot of that in the VC).

Channel 2′s Cobb County Bureau Chief Michele Newell was in Smyrna Wednesday, where a lawsuit alleges that sex trafficking took place at a Red Roof Inn off Windy Hill Road in Smyrna as well as three other metro Atlanta hotels.
Eleven victims initially came forward, but now there are a total of 15 survivors. Some of the victims were as young as 16 years old.
According to the lawsuit, filed on behalf of nearly 20 women by attorney Patrick McDonough, a front desk employee at the Red Roof Inn said there was never a minute that prostitution wasn’t going on at the motel from 2008 to 2016.
“Their own employees would testify that there would be 10, 15 different girls that were being trafficked everyday,” McDonough said. “Multiple of the clients were at the Smyrna Red Roof hotel, and it’s all the same pattern. Horrific things happened. We have 16 year old children that were literally choked in front of hotel employees”
“We think it’s abundantly clear on all of the public record that the hotel not only should have known about it and (not) turned a blind eye, but had actual knowledge that sex trafficking was going on at this hotel,” McDonough said.
Lawyers initially filed four individual lawsuits in 2019, but since that time, another 11 survivors have come forward.
McDonough said the survivors came forward to try to “change the behavior at the hotels so this doesn’t happen to any other young girls in the future.”
Hotel lawyers have now filed a motion for summary judgement, arguing that the lawsuits shouldn’t be allowed to go forward.
Newell stopped by the Red Roof Inn on Wednesday and was told the manager was not around.
A representative for the Red Roof Inn sent a statement, saying,
“The company will fight these allegations vigorously. We condemn sex trafficking in all forms.”

I was looking at all the hybrid talk...and uhm. I gotta say the Ran one had me on my knees??? Yes. He would fit the caretaker role so well 😩😩😩...
But now, SANZU? With bratty cat girl? 👀
in the beginning, haru found that aloofness to be quite alluring. he didn’t mind being a cog, a toy for you to play with when you wanted, and even now when you’re being catty, running your mouth to him, denying his touches, he still finds it in him to let you take the reigns .. but only for a split second. sanzu’s taming tactic is a psychological trick (as all things are with him) , he’ll neglect and ignore — which works perfectly fine for you, until he’s fucking his fist, groaning about how he wished his pretty kitty was wrapped around his cock instead .. and does that certainty get your attention. gets you nice and horny, pliant and ready to please .. yet, he denies you.
he’ll have you sitting before him, watching and begging to please him, to please yourself .. and sanzu isn’t one to reward bad behavior. he’ll leave you high and dry for days, weeks, months — he’s cruel. but only because you need to learn your lesson.

Intoxication was sort of a constant side effect of being with Valentino.
Er, no. Not a side effect.
It was a side effect just as much as Val handing you a drink was a suggestion.
You were drinking what he gave you, and if it was a whole ass bottle of whatever the fuck sparkling shit he grabbed off the bartop and shoved in your hand, well..
"We haven't gotten trashed like this in a while, Vela, what's the celebration for?" Vox's smile faltered just a bit as he pressed the rim of the bottle to his screen and chugged one, two, three hearty swallows.
Holy fuck, this shit was strong..

Hi! Love your blog :)
Do you think Louis being pimp will be brought up? Because I felt like it was forgotten by both the show and fandom. We had iconic confession scene done incredibly by Jacob where he acknowledges his faults against women, then he gets turned and proceeds to be a pimp.
I always felt like this and Louis at the present being billionaire in Dubai and both of these aspects being swept under rug in Louis' narration is extremely important thing that will be addressed in further seasons. Do you think Claudia knows that Louis was pimp? I can't imagine Louis sharing it with her on his own.
With her being aged up and being object of desire of no one but teens and perverts and of course being survivor of SA, her being orphan, Louis exploiting women sexually paints even more stark contrast.
Thank you for answers!
Hey!
Glad you like :)
I don't think that it's been forgotten, tbh (though it is not often brought up in fandom, granted).
But the show will surely come back to this before all is said and done. Dubai, built on slave labor and gold, is definitely not a coincidence as being chosen for the modern part of the show. And what Louis may wish to hide from Claudia (because I agree, he probably wished to keep that part of his past from her) could soon become a moot point when there will be a whole coven of vampires who can just read his mind.(*)
I'm not sure though if that past will be actually used against him next season, but it will still come up, of that I'm very sure. Because Armand's past will call back to this... and Claudia's SA will call back to Lestat's. And Louis still pays "whores" in Dubai... blood whores, to put it plainly. Daniel did call himself his whore as well, which is also no coincidence, and, given some events of the Devil's Minion arc might yet call back there, too. And who knows what "The Farm" actually is... We'll see.
(*) I agree that Claudia's fate shines a very painful light on Louis' previous occupation, but I feel like she probably knew about it. Like... New Orleans might be a big city, but Louis was an institution. For a while. He already told her that she came after his part of Storyville burning, and Claudia, being this clever and inquisitive girl that she was then, most surely went and investigated. We see later how she educates herself, chooses to learn languages, read up on things. There is no reason to suspect she didn't dig into finding out the truth about her parents, her guardians, too.
And I mean, given the later diary entries (that will still come to be) she grew to hate them both.
Given the changes the show made and that you refer to here - that can very well be a big part of it, too. Some of it bleeds through, imho, when she leaves in ep5, she throws it into Louis' face then, but that was before the assault. I bet the bitterness after was quite a different thing then.
Abuse - including sexual abuse - will be a continuous thing throughout the show.
In the books Lestat has been raped into darkness, Armand was sold as a sex slave. Both of these events have been already hinted at in season 1.
Louis being a pimp fits into that very well in a really uncomfortable way. I said it in another post, he still owned people, profited of them, and as @cbrownjc reminded me of, the show even gave him the background of actually being descendant of the plantation owners.
I absolutely believe that the show will hook into this aspect and the inherent abuse aspect for all characters.
Louis' might have been... let's say put aside for now, but I would pay real money that it has not been forgotten, because ultimately vampires maim and rape their prey, right? To death.
I think they will address this, again and again, over all the season. And it will be very uncomfortable and harrowing at times.

“it’s okay to cry in front of me, you know. you don’t have to carry this alone.”
The voice from the doorway snapped Angel out of his pity party, springing upright to meet the eye of the intruder who had caught him at such a vulnerable moment. It wasn't often that he allowed himself the luxury of a full-on sobbing breakdown, but the events of the night had unfolded as such that there was no other possible outcome. All other strategies had been exhausted: drugs, booze, casual sex, rinse and repeat. And still, it wasn't enough to bury it. No amount of dirt and filth would keep it from crawling into his consciousness - no matter how Angel tried to abandon the pain, it tracked him down with a vengeance. It devoured him.
And so, he had sought comfort of the carnal kind, playing out a kinky fantasy of his with his newly-adopted partner, the Radio Demon himself. And it had worked: it had helped him forget, given him that rush he needed, that catharsis... things were better.
And then they weren't.
The moment their play was over, Angel had retired to his bedroom. After all, what more could Alastor offer him? He'd been willing to indulge the spider in his erotic roleplay. They had both had their fun, and now it was over. Before the Overlord had a chance to ask Angel exactly why he wasn't sticking around for pillow-talk, he had been out of the door without a word. Collapsing in a heap on his bed, the porn star had finally felt able to cry, chest heaving with the ragged gulps and gasps that came tearing out as he succumbed to the ache of everything.
But, apparently, Alastor was not so easily deterred.
The stag himself was standing in Angel's doorway, smile intact, his expression as unreadable as it ever was.
"'M not cryin'," Angel mumbled uselessly, more than aware that there was not a chance in hell of the stag actually believing him. He was unsure exactly how long he had been curled up on the bed, bawling his eyes out, but it was long enough that he could feel his face had become swollen and streaked with tears. "'M just... tired, okay? Some of us down here actually sleep, ya know."
