Speedrunning WGS 101: Unit 9
We are on the unit dedicated to health topics, and I am slowly dying on the inside from the flashbacks to high school debates.
I thought I escaped learning about eugenicists when Introduction to Ethics ended.
Yet another YouTube video I can't access because the professor obviously didn't check to make sure that the link works.
Learning about women's beauty ideals and thanking all the Legend of Zelda and Linked Universe fan artists who queered and diversified my idea of what is beautiful/handsome/attractive.
Guys I'm going to be real with you, I am only linking foundations for the awareness of related issues and not adding in the actual curriculum this time because it is genuinely distressing.
Women's health legitimate health concerns being dismissed by medical professionals (regardless of gender) is something that's been happening for a long time due to a variety of reasons. It's not new. Go read The Yellow Wall-Paper.
The textbook missed the perfect opportunity to discuss the medicalization and oppression of asexuality but completely glosses over it.
I am literally getting a headache from all this. I'm going to drink some water and have a break before I write my paper on the topic.

It’s so crazy to me that people associate asexuality and sex repulsion with women, can’t imagine it in a guy, don’t think men like that exist, ect ect. It’s part of that ace feeling of “but wait doesn’t everyone feel like that?” Like as an asexual sex repulsed man I think asexual sex repulsed and immediately think “man.” To me it’s crazy that other men actually be fuckin it’s wild

Hi, it's Asexuality Awareness Week and I would like to share one of the reasons why it's important to raise awareness: including asexuality in legal protection.
One of the reasons why legal protections are necessary is the case of asylum seekers. Asexual asylum seekers, who are endangered in their home country, are routinely not accepted as asylum seekers because the legislation protects LGBT people but doesn't include asexuality in the acronym.
Let's see a couple of examples:
In 2018, an Algerian man applied for asylum in the Netherlands, explaining that he feared being persecuted in his country of origin for being asexual and for refusing to marry his niece.
The Netherlands, a country that accepts LGBTI asylum seekers, did not accept this man's asylum request because asexuality is not mentioned as being in the LGBTI. The court also said that asexuality is not punishable in Algeria. But not being legally called by its name and explicitly punished does not mean asexual people don't face discrimination, forced marriages, and threats of violence and rape. (Marriage itself, by the laws in most of the world, must include "consummation", whether the people involved want to or not).
This is the case of a 26-year-old woman living in Senegal, using the pseudonym Jade. Her family, across the border in Guinea, demanded that she find a man to marry. Her sister told her that if she didn’t, their parents would force her to wed a man who would rape her.
In Guinea and Senegal, forced marriages are common – the same sister who threatened Jade was in one herself. Divorce is also heavily stigmatised – when one of Jade’s cousins told her abusive husband she wanted a divorce, he said he would shoot her, her mother and himself.
Jade is a sex-repulsed asexual woman. She feared being married to someone she didn’t love and being subjected to so-called “corrective rape” until she bore children.
She considered suicide.
Her mother suggested sending her to therapy to fix her "aversion to marriage", when Jade refused, the mother said she'd "fix" her herself. She had Jade lay on the floor while she put her hand on her chest and prayed over her, asking afterwards whether she felt any different.
For a while, Jade’s last resort was escaping West Africa permanently. After she began studying in the US, it became her first choice. When researching what her options were, she found the case from the Netherlands that we've talked about before this one. She also found that legislations that aim to protect LGBTQI around the world don't include asexuality.
At present, the only piece of legislation which explicitly mentions asexuality is New York’s Sexual Orientation Non-Discrimination Act of 2003. However, that didn’t help Jade. A New York lawyer told Jade that there was no information as to whether asexuality was grounds for asylum in the US. After a long process of trying in the USA, she couldn't make it but after a year and a half she found an opportunity to do an internship in Ireland, where she lives now.
Since leaving West Africa, Jade has learned that her parents had chosen a husband for her without her knowledge, not long before she managed to escape. She says that, had she not been able to escape, she wouldn't be alive today.
This is what people mean when they say "asexuals aren't LGBTI!", "We can't have asexuals stealing our resources!". These are the kind of resources they mean: the ones that could save the life of a person being discriminated against for not being heterosexual heteroromantic and not conforming to the normative ideas of what their love and sex life should be like. An issue that is deeply shared with the rest of the LGBTQIA+ community.

i dislike it when people say to asexuals who are in a relationship " y'all don't have sex? your relationship is gonna be boring " like you just proved that sex in a relationship is the only thing that you like/care about in a relationship T-T /srs

I think what hbomberguy missed out on his video was the way James Somerton also dismissed ace people's oppression by claiming that they didn't 'go through conversion therapy' or apparently 'suffered as much as gay men'.
So here's a video I want to share by the Ace Couple going into depth about the whole thing and how James reacted when called out... spoilers, he didn't react well. I just hope by James' mistakes he and other people can learn something and grow.

"You can't headcanon autistic characters as asexual, it desexualizes them!" It's very telling you see asexuality as desexualizing, I don't tho ;)

Oh, would you look at that. I already have @/fite-club and @/rittz blocked. Neat.
If you don't want transphobia/acephobia coming your way, I suggest you do the same.

political fandom take: hazbin hotel edition
1 of the things i hate most abt hazbin hotel isn't even the actual episodes or anything like ik that ppl r saying that it's like sparkledog oc writing and like yeah it is but that isn't objectively good or bad or inherently political in any way it's just down 2 personal preference
no my issue is w the marketing and the fact that twice now the marketing has been reliant on the sexualisation of Alastor who is canonically a sex repulsed asexual, im not ace personally (although i did previously identify as ace, long story) so i can't really speak to the experiences of people who r ace and sex repulsed, w that being said tho even i can c as an alloaro how disrespectful this is 2 the ace community
1st it was the sexualisation of Alastor by putting him in non canon sexual situations w Angel Dust in which Angel Dust was portrayed as being very pushy and not respectful of Alastor's boundaries, this is bad 4 a number of reasons
1) using the radio dust ship 2 market the show 2 fans even tho Alastor is sex repulsed and would not b happy in these situations
2) portraying a character who is a hypersexual SA survivor as being handsy and not taking no 4 an answer and acting like ppl who r hypersexual would sexually abuse others by nature of being hypersexual
this is smth that i can speak 2 more from personal experience and this is literally y i hate the radiodust ship and the hunicast hazbin hotel streams so much, like believe it or not it is possible 2 b a horny mf-er w/out assulting or harassing ppl, it's rly not that difficult
3) Angel Dust doing this is not portrayed as a bad thing and this is in fact portrayed as a joke meaning that the stream is making jokes about men being sexually assulted and not just that but specifically a hypersexual gay man sexually assulting an asexual man
like do i even need 2 explain this? we got:
- the idea that gay men r forcing gay sex on men who r not into them
- sexual assult of men played 4 laughs
- the idea that hypersexuals who r SA survivors/victims of SA would then assult ppl by nature of being hypersexual
- an asexual man being sexually assulted and it being played 4 laughs which is especially bad given that ace ppl often hav 2 deal w threats of corrective rape or worse actually being raped
so yeh i hate the hunicast hazbin streams and tbh idk y ppl like them, it's mostly just the VAs encouraging the fans 2 send them money 2 make awful jokes abt Alastor getting assulted by Angel Dust in a way that's played off for comedic effect
the reason im bringing this up is bc apparently there was recent promo art where the marketing was jokingly mentioning the radioapple ship and tbh im kinda glad they had 2 take it down bc of backlash bc i feel like if it hadn't been stopped it would've just been more ""jokes"" abt a sex repulsed asexual man getting sexually assulted by another man but this time from the in universe king of hell
like srsly can we pls stop making this the main marketing technique? like i know we all talk abt how the fandom is bad when it comes 2 sexualising Alastor but i never rly c any1 talk abt how the promo techniques definitely played a hand in this and the normalisation of these things within the fandom

I don’t see people talking about it a lot but I feel like the idea that ace people are immature, childish, „innocent“, or just all around child-like is VERY prevalent. Beyond just the whole „you’re a late bloomer“ thing, I’ve experienced many people treating me like a baby because I don’t like sex. Like they’ll make innuendos and be like „oops teehee forgot I don’t wanna traumatize you“ like. Brother. I’ve fucked more times than I can count and I’m not shy to admit it, I just didn’t realize the funny little thing that most people actually enjoy sex. I already struggle with being infantilized, between the autism and just looking really young. It’s so annoying, people will even act like they’re shocked I started dating someone because I’m so innocent! Awww I hope they don’t try anything with you besides holding hands in the schoolyard 😁😁 ace people are sooo wholesome uwu babies must protect! LIKE SHUT UP SHUT THE FUCK UP YOURE A VIRGIN I FUCKED YOUR BOYFRIEND AND I WAS BORED THE WHOLE TIME

the fact you make pilot transfem to spite the fact that in the original story artman was incredibly transphobic and talking about trans people's genitals, and the fact you removed aroace pilot because of the severe infantilization she went through in the old story before becoming straight is so hilarious.
you untransphobed artman and transed pilot's gender to create a c4t (cis4trans) relationship between them. you quite literally brought back flying colours in the best way possible. thank you bub
You're welcome soldier. 🫡

Dear Anon,
I am not going to actually publicly answer your ask because a lot of the language you used was very rude and hateful, and the last thing I want to do is trigger anyone who sees it. However, given that I am very aware of your type of anons and your stalking tendencies, I am going to make this post addressing a few things since I'm sure you'll see it.
First off, in the future, kindly refrain from spewing acephobia in my askbox at ten thirty in the damn morning. Or any time, really, but at least let me be awake enough to properly comprehend your level of stupidity.
Secondly, no, I will not stop creating OCs on the ace spectrum or putting canon characters in relationships with my those OCs. Representation matters, especially when it comes to identities like demisexual who don't get any representation at all. And even if I could be convinced to stop, the ask you sent me is definitely not the way to go about it.
And thirdly, arguably most importantly: fuck you. Fuck your acephobia. Go to hell.
Sincerely,
a sex-repulsed ace who doesn't give a shit what you have to say

(TW for mentions of parents with garbage behavior ahead. btw on that note just going out to all fellow selfshippers out there with shitty parents from a selfshipper w/ also shitty parents your F/Os would protect you from them <333) Where do I even begin with this one? The unholy urge I feel in every cell in my body to verbally tear apart my parents who are being so fucking annoying (especially when irl I'm aro-ace) about me getting married when I just want to shove my phone in their faces and point at the fictional character I'm enamored to death over because fuck them and they should stfu for all eternity <33333333333

I briefly mentioned before how online kink communities are one of the few places I feel safe a trans person (I follow far far left subreddits and still feel twinge of fear whenever trans topics are brought up), but now that I've been to a few irl kink events the sad thing is,, they're also more inclusive of asexuals then queer communities are.
You have to pull teeth to get queers to admit aces even exist, much less include us, MUCH LESS actually know anything asexuality or the ace community. If you mention aces in kink queers hound you like "Wait I thought aces where evil sex negative puritans who hated sexuality?" "How could an ace ever possibly enjoy kink? How how how?
But multiple hosts/educators unprompted were like, yeah, aces are kinky sometimes and are welcome here :")

did i ever tell you guys about the time My Ex said she'd fuck alastor from hasbin and i was like. isnt he asexual?
and she said "yeah but i can fix him"
so i painted the asexual ring in myself with acrylics
that happened
4 days later she made a tiktok about how i sa'd her so that was fun
extra fun cause she id'ed as a lesbian and i'd been girlmode for months
and all i ever did was push a little by mildly flirting over text and she tied me up with a belt
and if you asked her shed be all like
"yeah (deadname) is a faggot and she sa'd me and pinned me to a wall"
i bought her chapstick and when she wouldn't put it on i was like "ok fine ill stop pestering you" and she got all sad and said "wheres the part where you make me? :(" so i was like fine bitch and grabbed her hand and pressed her in the general direction of the wall put the chapstick on her
and i asked her of she was uncomfortable multiple times and she said she was fine. I did say the word uncomfortable when i asked her.
and then a few days later she decided she was straight and called me a fag and not in the silly me too way
and then she accused me of being gay for my friend (and fellow transmasc @bellathebeanboy hi lucas :>) and sexually harassed him a few times at a point where he just figured out he wasn't a girl and My Ex still thought he was one
like her actual words were "you're a fucking faggot. (lucas's deadname.jpeg) is the one who made you one"
that whore was fucking insane lmfao
