i know freud said a lot of horrible things but did yall know that he thought schizophrenia was caused by people repressing their homosexual urges? i was literally taught this in my ap psych class. and i found academic papers from as late as 2020 claiming that freud was onto something, but its actually that schizophrenia is caused by homosexuals lacking homosexual experiences. any clinical surveys on the subject are behind a paywall that im not willing to pay. but for some anecdotal evidence: im as homo as can be, literally in a happy long term lesbian relationship and still very much schizophrenic lol. and i know hetero schizophrenic people and nonschizophrenic homos who lack experience. is there a possible link between being homo and schizophrenic? idk, but for sure one does not cause the other.
