This might seem small to speaking people but good lord is it humiliating (and terrifying). We don't (and can't) look at your thoughts before you've ironed them out so don't look at ours. But the reality is that spoken conversation moves much faster than written in almost every case and we also have more steps, so we have to condense the process: think the thought, write the thought and form it at the same time, say the thought.

remember that this is always a slow time for the rpc. as we get deeper into the holiday season, remember that people are finishing classes and taking big tests. they're slammed at work or taking on extra jobs to pay the bills. people are stressed about money or family, figuring out flights or trips, dreading the colder weather, struggling to put food on the table. some people are experiencing more dark outside than light, which might mess their schedule up a bit. some deal with seasonal depression during these months.

when your dash is slower and quieter this time of year, and when less people are liking your posts or sending memes, it doesn't mean the community is dying or we're all headed for the end times. i understand that less interactions or less support might be discouraging, especially when some of us are already dealing with the doom and gloom of darker, colder months and the stress of the holiday season... but please don't turn around and scold people for their inactivity or their lack of enthusiasm. don't get fatalistic about the fate of this community and declare it prematurely dead. this period of time always happens every year. now is not the time for unfair expectations. now is the time for kindness, generosity, understanding, encouragement, and love. now is the time for "take your time with replies," and "talk to me if you need anything. i'm here for you."

PSA to anyone here who's in the mouthwashing or stardew fandoms:

according to this PSA post here that someone tagged me in (which is much appreciated), it's recommended that you turn off asks because apparently on the 25th there are people out there planning on sending gore images to mouthwashing/stardew blogs.

i don't want to instill panic or anything, since i've never received anything like this despite being both a mouthwashing and stardew fanartist. and there is a chance this is something being blown out of proportion. HOWEVER it's better to be safe than sorry.

Atlantis is not and has never been a real actual city.

There is literally no historical or anthropological evidence that it ever existed. It was an entirely made up city that Plato created to illustrate his point about the very real threat of political corruption and how if left unchecked, could lead to the absolute devastation of an entire nation and its people.

It's also a fucking Nazi conspiracy theory. I shouldn't have to explain how "a secret advanced ancient civilization whose people were inherently superior and able to dominate all of the Ionian, Aegean and Mediterranean seas" is an absolute red fucking flag.

you cannot tell me that any of you genuinely like a wet towel to clean jizz off your skin after sex. have you ever actually tried that? i tried that because of fanfiction reasons in my teens and was so disgusted. it's slimy. it's the post-coital approximation of having seaweed wrap around your ankles in the ocean but somehow even worse. if anything the wet towel makes the jizz get everywhere even more. use dry, dirty boxers or a t-shirt or something. literally anything else. cleaning up a cumshot with a wet towel isn't a love language, it's a hate language.

Things you should not do in fandom spaces

not everything is written/created for you, and that’s okay!

If you find something that a writer or artist has created/written to be personally offensive, off putting, triggering, etc, please keep those feelings to yourself.

Do not leave hateful comments of any kind on a writer/artists work

Do not tell a writer/artist that they are romanticizing triggering/dark themes

The anon button is a wonderful feature, don’t abuse it

Do not hound writers to update their works or complain that they’re taking too long to update. We all have lives outside of fandom, so please have some grace

Just because you believe that a canon character has been written OOC, does not mean that the way the writer has chosen to write that character is wrong.

do not plagiarize or feed writers works into Ai or chat GPT

Things you should do in fandom spaces

reblog. reblog. reblog. reblog

leave kind comments on writers/artists works

provide helpful critique/constructive criticism only if the writer/artists asks for it

reach out to your favorite writers/artists

make friends

remember that you do not need to create to be apart of fandom! Fandom is for everyone 🫶🏻

Wrapping this up: fictional characters cannot harm you. What is harmful is censorship and morality police in fandom (especially in fanfiction) while it is entirely okay to personally not like something you read, do not shame someone for what they choose to write/create. Move on, block, touch some grass, etc.
