I just dreamt of a fic named Kafkavinsky (combination of Kafka and Stravinsky) posted here on Tumblr, but I only saw the ending. It was a Steve Saga fic, where Sabre and Rainbow were in the end, and Nightmare Steve was the Ender dragon. It consisted of 2 posts, each with a single frame of artwork and a line of dialogue.

In post 1, a bleak, unsettling landscape of the main end island was in Sage's style, except Sabre and Rainbow were in Merf's style. Both wore diamond armor, and were hiding behind an obsidian pillar to the right, near the edge of the island. They were looking to the left, where Nightmare was perched on the center platform. You could just make out Sage's design of his crown/horns and his glowing red eyes. His silhouette was motionless but threatening, barely visible against the dark, empty sky.

"The king is not ours to kill, Rainbow," Sabre warned.

In post 2, it showed the same thing, but this time it showed who was going to kill the king instead. Sabre and Rainbow were ducked behind the pillar, the giant, looming figure of Origin Steve appearing behind Nightmare. Origin was in a different style, having soft, blurred strokes and a simple, square appearance, like others' styles on here. He was as tall as one of the pillars, and his expression was blank as he descended upon the king. Nightmare shrunk in on himself, but his wings were splayed out in an act of defiance. He turned his back to the duo, facing his death head-on.

"Let the inevitable happen," Sabre whispered.

Apparently, the 7,000 word fic was so popular, even my mom had read it and was discussing it with me late at night.

I'm particularly fascinated by the name. Since it's the combination of Kafka, like, the guy that coined "kafkaesque," as in insectoid metamorphosis, and Stravinsky, a composer of (I think) popular classical music. I honestly don't know who he is. Currently listening to The Rite of Spring, his most famous piece, to try and figure out what the heck my brain was implying here.

Anyways, enjoy this strange piece. I might try to put together concept art, but only after I'm done with this semester XD I've got til tomorrow, so wish me luck on my psychology finals! ^^

Rewatching early tss is crazy because everything is so much oompher if you think about it too hard.

That. That original blue Steve. From the first not deleted Steve saga video. From Sabre’s perspective he was a ruthless killer but… from his own perspective. He probably knew about Nightmare. Knew the situation was bleak. Knew the only way to possibly defeat Nightmare was to bring back Rainbow. He probably followed ancient scriptures to do so. Maybe from that temple he was in. I bet he knew in order to summon Rainbow he’d never see the light of day again. I bet he was willing to make that sacrifice in order to save Steve kind.

And then Light Steve. Oughhhhh my boy light. Sabre is basically his dad. I hc him as small and baby too so like AUGHHHH PAIN IN MY HEART💥💥💥💥💥💥 He was scared and shy and afraid. So new to the world. And he still fought Dark to defend Sabre, his dad and only friend, from danger.

Rainbow. He must’ve been so scared and confused while being experimented on. Literally memoryless after like 7 thousand years of sleeping. The first thing he sees when he wakes up is this THING that isn’t a Steve. This THING this UNIDENTIFIED CREATURE . So he attacks!!! With the powers he’s still learning he has!!!!!!! And sabre’s like “yep he’s the bad guy. Time to rip him apart chromatic steve by chromatic Steve” WAUGHHHHH 🔌🔌🔌🔌🍴🍴🍴⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️💥💥💥💥

Then there’s Sabre slowly realizing what he’s doing is wrong. Realizing he’s the bad guy. Letting Rainbow go and protecting Light . Or. Trying to. He kind of failed Light died like 5 times

If you think about it, the majority of Sabre’s arc in tss is a redemption arc. He’s saving the steves to make up for the red Steve he murdered, the steves he chased and scared and trapped and experimented on. Especially Rainbow. I imagine that even when Rainbow died, Sabre felt like he hadn’t done enough. Hadn’t made up for the torture he put Rainbow through. And he’s destroyed forever by that.

The Rainbow Town really was a sanctuary for Steves. A home. I imagine countless nights spent under the stars. Rainbow going to bed and Lucas assuring Sabre, again and again, he had made up for it, done better, saved so many, helped so many, and Sabre always said it wasn’t enough. They had to do more.

So this is what the dream was described as:

7/25 weird dream. Zombie-werewolf-vampire hybrid Sabre (x2, one w/ mc inventory, one regular), mad scientist not showing truth of research, 7 skeletons/missing persons, Western Alex idk, small town police, the multiverse: how to torture your enemies for eternity, ate a person.

(Tw: cannibalism, body horror, gore, etc)

Okok so in the dream I'm watching this mad scientist who lives in the middle of nowhere throw one Sabre into a cell, then make a zombie, werewolf, and vampire bite him in quick succession. Sabre 1 has the minecraft inventory, but not the rest of this world. Sabre 1 goes through a horrific transformation, simultaneously undead and alive, gaining intense instincts that drive him to cannibalize not one, but seven, people, over several weeks.

The scientist forced him through periods of starvation and feeding, breaking his mind and driving him to his wit's end. After each feeding, Sabre 1 felt incredible guilt, but even as a strange, unnatural hybrid, he couldn't escape. The scientist kept his cell unclean, leaving him stuck with the bones of his victims in a prison-like cell. It was grim. This went on for months, until the eighth victim arrived, thrown into the second cell beside Sabre 1.

Sabre 2 was from the local town that the rest of the victims came from, and was a pretty normal guy that everyone knew. The scientist wanted to try to replicate the hybridism, by letting Sabre 1 get just a little hungry...and then let him attack his mirror image. The Sabres quickly agreed to try to escape, despite Sabre 1's cannibalistic nature. The eighth victim was given before he lost all control, and despite his hunger, Sabre 1 tried to hold back. But he couldn't. Sabre 2 told him to eat him, and...he did. But only part of his arm. The wound got infected instantly.

Sabre 2's immune system became overwhelmed with the hybrid disease now overtaking him, and he passed out soon after in a feverish haze. Sabre 1, hunger now satisfied, tried to take care of him, using torn cloth as bandages. But that did nothing, as pus and blood and muscle and rot spread from the wound quickly. In mere hours, Sabre 2 transformed from a sickly man to a hairy, rotting mass, practically a corpse. His face melded into that of a bat and wolf, chunks of dead flesh falling off his face, ribs, spine, and legs. A wiry-furred tail ripped out of his lower body as bat-wolf ears replaced his human ones.

Sabre 1 hated what he had become, and even more so, forcing someone else through it, too. But he didn't want to kill, Sabre 2 wanted to escape, not die! But nonetheless, 1 worried that this wasn't what 2 wanted. All he could do was watch him, now, and keep him safe from that horrid scientist. When 2 finally woke up again, his mind was clouded with pain, exhaustion, and a howling whirlwind of new instincts and hunger.

Despite that, 2 wanted to be free, that one thought steadying his mind. And he did not hate 1 for turning him. Meanwhile, the scientist was so ecstatic that he'd come down to the cells himself - a first for him. Sabre 1 knew what needed to happen. 2 needed to use his new instincts to lash out against the scientist and kill him. Which turned out easier than expected, when the scientist went to open their cell by hand. 2 went right for the neck, leaping onto him with such intensity he was a blur. 1 leapt after him, dealing a killing blow to the heart. Without a beating heart, the werewolf virus could not consume him. 1 and 2 ripped his organs out one by one, consuming the scientist in delight.

By the time they were done, all that remained was some bones and scraps of cloth. And, most importantly, a keycard - their ticket out of this hellhole. 2 had no regrets in his act of cannibalism, good riddance to that disgusting man. But 1 knew this was just the beginning, they needed to find a cure (or death, whichever comes first). 1 helped 2 regain his balance, and they set off through the building, looking for any answers. As it turned out, it was more like a house with a panopticon in the center than a lab. They found not only the front door, but the lab/bedroom which the scientist worked out of. All around the place was snow for miles, and a distant forest.

Amongst the papers, they found one titled "the multiverse: how to torture your enemies for eternity." Sabre 1 had no memory of who the hell the scientist was, or what he'd done to become his enemy, but he theorized that was why this all happened. They store everything in a set of backpacks, and 1's inventory, before moving onto the...meat freezer? There was a freezer directly in the scientist's closet, which the two could utilize well if they're smart about it. Sabre 1 discovers his inventory keeps the meat quite well, and they take it all too.

Before they begin their journey, they try to bandage up, as well as get new clothes to hopefully hide. Plus, they had to be careful in the sun. Thanks to being undead (and fluffy) they had no trouble with the cold. Through the forest, they came to Sabre 2's hometown: a semi-western semi-modern place, surrounded by a stone wall. It had not only a sheriff, but a saloon. They managed to get inside alright, but Sabre 2's identity became difficult to conceal. Steve Saga Alex met them in the saloon, and in the upper living space, they revealed the truth. Before they'd left the lab-house, they took all 7 skulls of the victims, hoping to at least bring their bones back for a proper burial. But they needed to get to the sheriff so the rest of the bones could be brought home.

With Alex's help, the two get in to see the sheriff and tell their story, and give him as much information as they can. They're willing to be locked up, but they don't know how well they'll deal with that again. After a whole lot of back and forth about the Horrors, the sheriff agrees to let them stay at Sabre 2's house under watch for the night. They'll figure out the details tomorrow, including when to go back to the lab-house to investigate this mess. Now that they were finally safe (and hopefully won't be committing atrocities anytime soon) the two Sabres finally settle in, watching the night sky and wondering where life will take them next.

Edit: oh and I should mention. This was NOT a nightmare. It was, indeed, funny

Au idea: what if the antivirus was in "water you doing"

Sabre: *sees a Blue Steve* Ok, that's understandable! I'm starting to get Steves now.

Sabre: *sees Rainbow Steve* Wow, this guy is terrifying! But it's another Steve. Nothing I can't handle.

Sabre: *sees the Antivirus* WHAT IS THAT?! -

(serious note: doesn't fire affect the Antivirus? Unless fire only affects the Virus...

In either case, I think with fire being associated with the Antivirus (or Virus) and water being associated with Rainbow Steve, I think there's potential for a cool water vs fire match up.

...imagine if Rainbow Steve found the Virus trapped in the firewall and extinguished the fire just to spite Sabre.)

au where after already running and being helpess and realizing this is JUST THE START Sabre decides to go to Nightmare Steve and pledge allegiance to him. "I'll do anything, be anything you want, your ally, friend, servant, just please keep us safe" He gets Lucas on board pretty quick, but Rainbow is much harder to convince, in the end Rainbow goes along, he totally doesn't trust Nightmare Steve, because he's a villain, but Sabre thinks it's a good idea so he'll try it. Sabre becomes bff's with Nightmare Steve and both kind of balance eachother out. Any Steve Sabre rescues becomes a loyal subject of Nightmare Steve, but Sabre has influenced him to not be absolutely terrible. Shadow Steve, Dark Steve and Shadow Sabre are all present during this and are just sat in total confusion as Nightmare Steve has tea with some chicken guy they were trying to murder a day ago.
