batfam + nicknames

dick: uses a lot of nicknames as terms of endearment (i.e. "little wing", etc.) but when he drops them that's one of the telltale signs he's angry or tired. absolutely unfazed by using or being called "embarrassing" nicknames in public ("my name is dick for god's sake") which really sucks if you're trying to lead a team and nightwing drops by calling you "baby bird"

cass: mostly sticks to big/little brother to put the boys in their Place

jason: the nickname King. can rattle off five different nicknames in as many sentences. sometimes the nickname is such an obscure reference he has caused several people to look it up to check if he's insulting them or not. is the guy who changes peoples names in his phone based on how he feels about them that day

tim: not really a nickname person but when he does use one it’s pretty simple, i.e. jason->jase. DOES NOT call cass “cassie” like all the others bc he already has a cassie in his life. the one nickname he does use with gusto is “demon brat” and its variations

duke: basically the opposite of dick so when he starts using nicknames its a sign he's pissed. if he's really pissed he starts using white people nicknames like "pal" or "buddy"

damian: started off calling everyone by their last names but eventually he worked his way up to the full version of their name, i.e. cass->cassandra. the day he finally started calling tim “timothy” dick called zatanna to check if hell was frozen over. he does eventually also switch from calling bruce “father” to “baba”

BONUS: bruce: has one set nickname for each of his kids and doesn't really stray from it. dick -> chum, cass -> princess, jason -> jaylad, tim -> kiddo, duke -> sunshine, damian -> sweetheart, steph -> honey. these nicknames Will Never change
