Words can't begin to describe how much I hate that he has to write this and has to deal with that lunatic again and has to play nice.

i’m gonna be honest i do think people are fearmongering with kamala a little it’s not like i care enough to really advocate for people to go vote for her nor do i think she’d be any better than obama but id feel significantly less like “these are the exact same guy” with her going against trump than i do with biden… biden also has a significant history even among the democrats as a loud supporter of israel and kamala hasnt really done any more supporting of that than what she kind of has to as vice president so. also yes shes a cop but “we’re gonna become a police state” is a little silly she was just a typical attorney which like basically all politicians have been at some point

people not realizing that the results of a president’s term in office usually are most evident while someone else is in office and continue to have effects after the term is over is honestly i think one of the the reasons people who are ostensibly on the left are so flippant about the specter of another trump term

Not to worry, national JSA conventions will pop that real quick.

I saw someone saying Jill Stein is the only option. We're literally doing 2016: 2 with the same morality circlejerking as then and I swear to God if it works on y'all a SECOND TIME--
Gonna need yall to stop putting Biden is Just As Bad propaganda on my dash. Had to unfollow someone because I don’t want to a start a fight with them over it, but I’m about to bite the next person who puts that shit in front of me.
If you don’t like Biden, vote in your god damn local and mid term elections for third party or further left candidates so that we get better democratic candidates for future elections. But this one is already fucking decided, and I’m NOT ending up under a Trump led dictatorship because yall value protecting your personal sense of moral purity over the collective good. Whether it offends your personal morals to vote for Biden is IRRELEVANT in the face of the alternative.
This isn’t a lesser of two evils situation. One guy sucks. The other guy is LITERALLY PLANNING TO OVERTHROW OUR DEMOCRACY AND INSTALL HIMSELF AS A PUTIN STYLE DICTATOR.
PLEASE look up Project 2025 and stop acting like abstaining is some kind of personal ethical decision!

i trust you.
is it going to be okay?
Do you want me to tell you the truth, or do you want me to reassure you?
Because Steve Kornacki just said that the question seems to be not will Trump become President-elect, but how.
I have no fucking idea how we ended up here again. I was afraid that we'd be here again, that we'd see a repeat of 2016, that it would seem so clear and so obvious but that it wouldnt be, that we'd feel confident that this time this fucking pustule would get lanced but we'd run face-first into the deep misogyny (and this time, misogynoir) in this country. That we'd end up watching this horrible fucking man get elected when it just seemed... so improbable a day ago.
Is it going to be okay? I mean... no. Not like we hoped it could be. Things are going to be very difficult. They're going to get scary, if Trump has control of both chambers of Congress and the Supreme Court, and people are going to be hurt, and people are going to die.
That's the truth, and I'm sorry it's like that right now.
Take time to feel whatever you need to feel, but do not give in to despair. It is - it remains - punk rock time. You are going to need to make sure that you know your neighbors, that you build communities that can weather what's coming as best you can.
Whatever happens next won't be pretty, but we will take whatever driftwood we have and keep mending our little boats, and we'll keep going. Okay?
It probably won't be okay, not for a while, not on the macro level, so your focus is going to have to be on the micro level and on acting like a fucking dandelion. Dig your roots in deep and spread as much good around as you can.

I really really REALLY need to see more people makimg the connection between trump and his russian handlers tbh.......like i know we've somehow gone through the looking glass of putin apologia but that piece abt the NYT you just posted, the bots, the interference: in the bag for trump? Yes. But i dont believe its due to his or even republican power or popularity or forcefulness.......this is a man with so much debt and kompromat thats only getting worse!! Not to sound kwazy BUT WE ARE BEING FULLY INFLITRATED and at the risk of conspiracizing i think the russians are ALSO behind the Times's demise along with so many other information centers etc. Like i KNOW these leftists love him but like. Wouldnt they care a LITTLE abt being manipulated like this???
Trump is 100% an active, willing, and eager Russian agent. That's not even paranoid conspiracy theory, that's just the only reasonable interpretation of the facts:
NOT TO MENTION that in the next two years after the Helsinki conference where Trump kowtowed to Putin in every way, the CIA admitted to losing huge and unusually high numbers of classified informants around the world (not CIA agents, but people secretly working for the American government in often-hostile countries):
Once again, this all happened when Trump was in office, when he was actively handing over CIA intel to the Kremlin against the wishes of the entire national security establishment, and which other experts have suggested was directly as a result of Trump handing over the identities of American informants to Russia, including those stationed in Russia itself:
Now, I could go on, but you get the point. Not to mention that Trump just lost a major UK-based lawsuit against Christopher Steele, the former MI6 agent who was the first to provide documents linking Trump to Russia in the controversial "Steele dossier":
And now: Trump is deeply in hock for hundreds of millions in legal fees and punitive judgments that are only increasing by the day, he somehow just came up with $90 million to appeal the judgment against E. Jean Carroll (nobody knows where he got this money either), and Russian state TV spends all their time openly salivating for Trump's return to the presidency (so he can hand over Ukraine and the rest of NATO and, as he literally said, "let Russia do whatever the hell they want.") I know we're largely numb to all the awful treasonous shit that Trump does, but like. This isn't a conspiracy theory, this is just what's going on in plain sight, and while the Online Leftists have recently become so stupid that I honestly can't tell if it's just terminal brainworms or active Russian psyops, it's strongly indicated that it is in fact a mix of both:
So, like. Just some food for thought.

he won.
he won the election. fairly. legally. by our system. for anyone not american or who just may not know, the new president of the united states is Donald J. Trump a rapist, abuser, womanizer, racist, homophobe, transphobe, self proclaimed dictator, hitler idolizer, domestic terrorist. ive been awake for less than an hour and ive cried twice. im terrified. some part of me still feels like the race can still be won like somehow she can scramble up some more electoral votes. its impossible though. you need 270 electoral votes to win and its impossible for both candidates to get to 270. im not the only one in a state theres girls in my school dining hall crying and weeping. i cried in my mothers arms this morning like a baby and she kept telling me well be ok and she wont let anything happen but she just had such an uncertain look in her eyes. the decision didnt seem hard. a felon and sexual abuser or a woman. the felon won. i hope people are proud of themselves. i hope that in 2 years when we have no department of education, women cant vote anymore, humans are in camps, no one is vaccinated, all products cost at least $100 and our government is comparable to big brother in 1984 the people who voted for him or didnt vote at all cause she "supports a genocide" are happy with themselves. i feel sick. i think something can be said for the weather again too at least where i live, in 2016 on both election day when he first won and on his inauguration it was cloudy and rainy and now its our 35th day of an historic drought. im so terrified. i hope he was all bark and no bite or maybe hell do something too far and theyll impeach him or maybe hell die. hes old. hes got dementia or something. maybe hell just die. or well revolt? as much as i belive in order i think maybe a revolution wouldnt be a bad idea.
im 16 years old. in exactly one week i will be 17. my biggest worry right now should be my algebra 2 test on monday but no my biggest worry right now is that soon i will be considered a second class citizen cause i was doomed to be born a woman. i should be worried about if i have enough cash to go to the mall this weekend instead im worried because of tarrifs and inflation that will soon skyrocket my family wont have enough money to live. i should be worried about my midterm exams instead im worried my parents interfaith marriage will be null and void and my father will have to go to some camp.
im so scared. ive been promised everything will be ok but im so scared. im so so scared.

i think this is a perfect example of why some random civilian whos president for 4ish years should not be the commander in chief and should NOT have any access to anything military--especially not the nuclear codes.

It would be very bad if trump were to become the president again (and it's looking likely) but in terms of actual policy I think some of the catastrophizing is almost surreal. Like, it would be bad, but it wouldnt be worse than idk, like, 2005. Which would be bad! But not "fascist theocracy" bad unless you want to stretch the definitions. I think a truly panicking argument has to ground itself in damage to democratic institutions to the US, I think Trump is genuinely kind of unique there. But idk, I think our institutions are stronger than that

I don't normally ever speak up, but lately I've been seeing a lot of takes like this
Tumblr media
Both on tumblr and off of tumblr. So let me just say this out loud for all three of my followers:
There are way more people in this country who don't want Trump as president than who do. Way more. The only way he wins is if a ton of us collectively decide not to vote.
And before anyone takes a swing at me, I was on the literal front lines of activism during the last Trump presidency. I risked life and limb for years.
And even after all that, this defeated outlook is genuinely confusing to me. If we don't want a Trump presidency then get out there and vote against it. Grab your buddies to go vote against him. Grab your family if they swing that way politically to go vote against him. Grab your damn classmates to go vote against him. If voting was as useless as some people seem to think, then the right wouldnt be so terrified of us organizing. They wouldn't need to rally so hard around this incident if they were certain they'd win. They're scared. They know that there is no guaranteed Trump presidency.
Fight back against this attitude of inevitability. Don't want a Trump presidency? Then become the reason he won't win.

"Lets understand how we got here, on October 7th..." I think there is a lot more things that happened before that. Actually. But she is for two state solution and said that explicitly so there are points there I suppose.

im pretty sure the average voter has no way to hold a president accountable after they are elected. what are we gonna do, send her an email she'll never read or not care about? if anything wouldnt now be a time to push her and hold her accountable? since like she wants our votes?
Harris cares a lot about public opinion of her, and she plans to run again in 2028. Backing out of this isn't going to look good for her. Especially to the people she's trying to get to vote for her. While there is no solution that will fix everything here you can at least pressure her to stick to her word. It's better than nothing, and miles better than Trump
