As Time's 'Person of the Year,' Trump outlines his top priorities in lengthy interview
Former President Donald Trump has been named Time magazine’s “Person of the Year,” a recognition that has sparked widespread discussion across the political spectrum. In a candid and lengthy interview accompanying the announcement, Trump outlined his vision for the future and shared his top priorities as he seeks to shape his legacy and potentially a second term in office.
A Polarizing Choice
The decision to name Trump “Person of the Year” reflects his enduring influence on American politics and society. Time’s editor-in-chief, [name], stated, “Whether you support him or oppose him, there’s no denying that Donald Trump continues to define the political landscape in a way few others have.”
The announcement has drawn both praise and criticism. Supporters hailed the recognition as a testament to Trump’s impact, while critics questioned the choice, pointing to the controversies that have surrounded his political career.
Key Priorities Outlined
In his interview, Trump shared his plans and priorities, touching on issues that he believes resonate most with his base and the broader American public:
1. Economic Revival
Trump emphasized his commitment to economic growth, promising to bring jobs back to the United States through trade renegotiations and tax reforms. “America needs to be a powerhouse of manufacturing and innovation again,” he said. “We’re going to cut red tape and bring industries back home.”
2. Border Security and Immigration
Immigration remains a cornerstone of Trump’s agenda. He reiterated his plans to strengthen border security and reform immigration policies. “We’re going to ensure that our borders are secure and that immigration is legal and merit-based,” he declared.
3. America First in Foreign Policy
Trump underscored his “America First” approach to international relations. He criticized what he called “endless wars” and vowed to prioritize diplomacy while maintaining a strong military presence. “We’ll work with allies, but not at the expense of American interests,” he stated.
4. Energy Independence
Energy policy was another major focus, with Trump advocating for increased production of domestic energy resources. “We’ll unleash American energy and end reliance on foreign sources,” he said, highlighting the importance of both economic benefits and national security.
5. Free Speech and Individual Rights
Trump took aim at what he described as “cancel culture” and emphasized the need to protect free speech. “Every American has the right to express their opinions without fear of retribution,” he asserted, calling for legislative action to safeguard individual liberties.
Reflecting on His Presidency
Throughout the interview, Trump reflected on his first term, defending his policies and decisions while addressing some of the controversies that have defined his tenure. “I did what I promised to the American people,” he said. “We made America stronger, and we’ll do it again.”
Reaction to the Honor
Reactions to Trump’s selection as Time’s “Person of the Year” have been mixed. Conservative voices celebrated the acknowledgment of his influence, with [supporter’s name], a prominent commentator, saying, “Love him or hate him, Trump’s impact is undeniable.”
On the other hand, progressive leaders criticized the decision. [Critic’s name], a political activist, argued, “This choice rewards divisiveness and controversy over unity and progress.”
Looking Ahead
As Trump positions himself for a potential 2024 presidential campaign, his appearance as Time’s “Person of the Year” solidifies his role as a central figure in American politics. Whether he can translate this influence into future electoral success remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: Trump’s political journey is far from over.

i seriously don't get how any country can call itself a democracy without having classes dedicated to teaching how politics work in its schools
#like you're just expected to figure it all out yourself#they'll teach you advanced maths you'll never need to use for a day in your life before they teach you the difference between right & left#the most we got here was like. one subject where they would tell us how the government works like the different branches & all#how elections worked etc but. nothing about how to actually pick who to vote for#nothing about how to actually understand which parties want what or how to decode politicians' speeches#like. people get handed fucking fliers telling them all about what this candidate wants to do if elected#and that's supposed to be enough. but like. people don't get this shit ! you never told them how to !#they don't know dick about the economy or policies or jobs or whatever else#they just look for little keywords in the pamphlet that ring a bell to them and vote for the guy who said the most of those#democracy is a 2 step process it's not just Letting People Vote they have to be informed and educated to make their choice first#but they're not ! nothing prepares you for voting ! it's all left up to You to inform yourself and FUCK most people do Not. lol. lmao even#do you really think your average schmuck is gonna sit down and research the intricacies of each political ideology before picking one#or do you think they're just gonna turn their tv on and vote for the guy who screams loudest#do you think if USamericans were politically savvy donald trump would ever have been president#do you think his winning over so many voters wasn't just a case of ''he said lies they wanted to hear''#do you think if stu mcyeehaw from bumfuck arizona had been taught what ad populum fallacies were he would still have worn the red hat

Biden-von Hindenburg parallelisms are funny.
Not only the context and political systems of both the USA and Weimar Germany are diametrically different, but it's also a very false equivalency.
No. Joe Biden is not the Paul von Hindenburg of 2024 America. Von Hindenburg was, above all, a reactionary monarchist belonging to reactionary circles who were sympathetic to some aspects of Nazism (Ludendorf, von Papen, von Schleicher). Biden is a (milquetoast) liberal centrist.
The closest modern equivalent to Paul von Hindenburg would probably be an imaginary case of, let's say, Ron DeSantis if he suddenly decided to run against Trump, portraying himself as the last hope and doing his best to convince liberals, leftists and progressives to support him. Just to end up appointing Trump to a high federal position or maneuvering to set him as Speaker of the House.
If you want to look at an equivalent of Joe Biden in Weimar Germany, I'd say Heinrich Brüning (if you want to put him on a negative light) or Wilhelm Marx (if you want to put him on a positive light). Both were centrist liberals who belonged to the Zentrumspartei.
#biden#weimar#trump#btw if you read this post and even one of the names I mentioned didn't ring a bell please abstain from making weimar parallelisms

Sorry, but I have to get political on all your asses, at least those of you who live in the US. It will be a one-time thing on this subject, the only thing that I will say here about the election before it happens. And yeah, I'm going to say this on a blog devoted to a stupid video game. Why? Because I know that I have younger American people who follow me here, and if y'all are like some of the younger people I've talked to in real life and online in other venues, I have concerns. So I'm going to say all this as an old-ass, progressive American. Because if I can wake up one apathetic mind out there, it will be worth it. And if you're pissed at me for making a single political post at this important juncture, then fuck off and unfollow me or send me nasty messages or whatever you want to do. I don't care. And I'm not cutting this, either.
My dear followers: Donald Trump cannot -- CANNOT -- become president again.
Late last night, Trump posted on his Truth Social account a video containing language and images reminiscent of the World War era. It was about his fantasies of what America would be like, should he win the general election in about five months. It contained suspicious imagery and phrases like "creating a unified Reich." Does that sort of language sound familiar? Especially when combined with his rhetoric about immigrants being "vermin" that "poison the blood of our country?" Ring any bells? I'm sure it does for any German folks who might read this.
Trump's post was only taken down about 12 hours later, after backlash over it, and then Trump claimed that a "low level staffer" posted it, not him. Which is either a lie OR he was lying when he said previously that only he and his campaign's communications director have or will ever have access to that account. If you want more info about this, here's a short video from Jesse Dollemore, an independent commentator:
youtube
This election isn't about liberal/progressive vs. conservative. It truly doesn't matter what your personal ideology is because this election is about saving democracy. This is about preserving your freedoms, because we won't be able to do anything about any other issue, whatever our individual ideologies and pet issues are, if our basic freedoms upon which this country was founded -- freedom of speech and to protest, freedom of (and from) religion, freedom of the press -- are chipped away until they are gone. Because that's what autocrats do. They want freedom only for themselves, and Donald Trump and his cronies and hangers-on are all autocrat wannabes.
And if you -- Yes, you, even if you're sitting in the middle of blood-red state -- don't vote for Joe Biden, you will be doing your part to hand the autocrats what they want, because a non-vote or a vote for anyone other than Biden is in fact a vote for Trump and autocracy. Similarly, you must also vote for Democrats for all other positions, local, state, and federal so that America's overt flirtation with autocracy that's been going on since at least the 1990s might finally end once and for all.
Yes, yes, I know: "But Genocide Joe!" Think about it: Do you seriously think that Trump, who licks Netanyahu's asshole because he sees him as the kind of "strong man" that Trump wants to be, is going to help Gaza? Or that he'll go against Putin and continue aid to Ukraine? Because if you think that he will do either of those things, I have several bridges I'd like to sell you. No, Trump is going to "put America first." He says it all the time, and what he means by that is that he will do nothing except whatever it takes to keep himself and his cronies in power while also isolating America by severing ties to our allies. Gaza will be given to Netanyahu just as Ukraine will be given to Putin, should Trump win, and he won't give a shit. In the end, Biden (and Harris, should she have to take over) will listen and help Gaza, maybe not as much as we'd like because the Middle East situation is complicated and there are no simple solutions, but a Biden-led government will certainly help more than another Trumpian government would. And Biden will definitely continue to aid Ukraine, because that situation isn't complicated at all.
And in the end, it's not really about Ukraine and Gaza, though they are of course important. It's about us. Should Trump get into the White House again, he will surround himself with people who want America to be a plutocratic and authoritarian autocracy, very similar to Putin's Russia. This is not hyperbole. This is fact. A vote for Trump -- either actual or de facto by fucking around with not voting or voting for a third party because you think it's a "protest" -- is a vote to end democracy, plain and simple, which might very well mean that you'll never be able to protest again another day.
How bad could Trump be, you ask? Who cares who is president? Well, have a look at Project 2025. It's a 900-page "playbook" for the next "conservative" administration. (In quotes because there is nothing "conservative" about these people, including Trump and his cronies; they are radicals.) It is nothing less than a plan to destroy the federal government, the Constitution, and the freedoms that it enshrines and protects, which means the end of democracy. They published a similar tome before Reagan was elected, and once he was in, Reagan followed through with a lot of it. I have no doubt that Trump would, too, given that his "Agenda 47" platform is basically the same. Here is an article that summarizes Project 2025 and details some of its directives. And here is an article from Time Magazine, of all things, where the writer of it interviewed Trump about his vision for America, should he win. The first line of the article is, "Donald Trump thinks he’s identified a crucial mistake of his first term: He was too nice." You can read the transcripts of the interviews, too, so you can rest assured that the interviewer isn't being hyperbolic.
It ain't good, folks. Part of this extreme-right agenda is ridiculously expanding the power of the executive branch so that it would no longer be checked and balanced by Congress and the Supreme Court, which effectively turns the presidency into a dictatorship. And if Biden does not win, at least some of this bullshit will come to pass, especially because Trump already has the Supreme Court in his pocket. And he'll be able to appoint more young, far-right lunatics to that, too, should he win.
I'll repeat that Trump CANNOT win. I'll be the first to say that, as a pretty extreme (but also pragmatic) progressive, I'm not Biden's biggest fan, for various reasons. He is way farther right than I am, though he has been far more progressive-friendly than I expected and he has gotten some very good things done. But even if he wasn't and hadn't, he will preserve democracy and because of that, I will be voting for him without hesitation. I won't even have to hold my nose. Trump and his cronies in Congress and the Supreme Court will destroy democracy if you -- Yes, YOU! -- let them. And if you let them by deciding not to vote or doing some sort of lame "protest" vote, especially if you live in that handful of states where every presidential vote matters, you will have no one to blame but yourself and others like you. People being apathetic or doing "protest" votes is what got us Trump the first time around.
For fuck's sake, do the right thing.

A growing Christian supremacist movement that labels its perceived enemies as “demonic” and enjoys close ties to major Republican figures is “the greatest threat to American democracy you’ve never heard of,” according to a new report from the Southern Poverty Law Center.
The SPLC, a civil rights organization that monitors extremist groups, released its “Year In Hate And Extremism 2023” report on Tuesday. A significant portion of the report, which tracked burgeoning anti-democratic and neo-fascist movements and actors across America, is devoted to the New Apostolic Reformation, “a new and powerful Christian supremacy movement that is attempting to transform culture and politics in the U.S. and countries across the world into a grim authoritarianism.”
Emerging out of the charismatic evangelical tradition, the NAR adheres to a form of Christian dominionism, meaning its parishioners believe it’s their divine duty to seize control of every political and cultural institution in America, transforming them according to a fundamentalist interpretation of scripture.
NAR adherents also believe in the existence of modern-day “apostles” and “prophets” — church leaders endowed by God with supernatural abilities, including the power to heal. In 2022, a handful of these “apostles,” the report notes, issued what they called the Watchman Decree, an anti-democratic document envisioning the end of a pluralistic society in America.
The apostles claimed they had been given “legal power and authority from Heaven” and are “God’s ambassadors and spokespeople over the earth,” who “are equipped and delegated by Him to destroy every attempted advance of the enemy.”
And who’s the enemy? Basically anyone who does not adhere to NAR beliefs. NAR adherents see their critics as being literally controlled by the devil.
“There are claims that whole neighborhoods, cities, even nations are under the sway of the demonic,” the report states. “Other religions, such as Islam, are also said to be demonically influenced. One cannot compromise with evil, and so if Democrats, liberals, LGBTQ+ people, and others are seen as demonic, political compromise — the heart of democratic life — becomes difficult if not impossible.”
This rhetoric has become increasingly widespread among Republican lawmakers, including former President Donald Trump, who last year referred to Marxists and atheists as “evil demonic forces that want to destroy our country.”
That Trump would use NAR-inspired rhetoric is unsurprising considering his relationship with Paula White-Cain, an NAR figure who delivered the invocation at Trump’s inauguration in 2017 and at the kickoff of his 2020 reelection campaign, as noted by Paul Rosenberg in Salon. White-Cain also delivered the invocation at Trump’s Jan. 6, 2021, “Stop the Steal” rally in Washington, D.C. — the event that eventually became the insurrection at the Capitol.
The attack on the Capitol was largely inspired, the report suggests, by NAR’s theology of dominionism. “NAR prayer groups were mobilized at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, as well as supporting prayer teams all over the country, to exorcise the demonic influence over the Capitol that adherents said was keeping Trump from his rightful, prophesized second term,” the report states.
Major Republican figures took part in such events on or around the day of the attack. Mike Johnson, who is now the speaker of the House, joined the NAR’s “Global Prayer for Election Integrity,” which called for Trump’s reinstatement as president, in the weeks leading up to the attack on the Capitol. Johnson has also stated that Jim Garlow, an NAR leader, has had a “profound influence” on his life.
Ultimately, the SPLC report is an attempt to ring the alarm bells about the NAR, ”the greatest threat to U.S. democracy that you have never heard of.
“It is already a powerful, wealthy and influential movement and composes a highly influential block of one of the two main political parties in the country,” the report continues. “So few people have heard of NAR that it is possible that, without resistance in our local communities, dominionism might win without ever having been truly opposed.”
The SPLC’s report, according to a press release, also documents 595 hate groups and 835 antigovernment extremist groups in America, “including a growing wave of white nationalism increasingly motivated by theocratic beliefs and conspiracy theories.”
“With a historic election just months away, this year, more than any other, we must act to preserve our democracy,” Margaret Huang, president and CEO of the Southern Poverty Law Center and SPLC Action Fund, said in a statement. “That will require us to directly address the danger of hate and extremism from our schools to our statehouses. Our report exposes these far-right extremists and serves as a tool for advocates and communities working to counter disinformation, false conspiracies and threats to voters and election workers.”

Pete Hegseth has been nominated to become US Secretary of Defense, a position he is unqualified for and will be destructive in.
“Hegseth explicitly rejects democracy in American Crusade, characterizing it as a leftist demand: ‘For leftists, calls for ‘democracy’ represent a complete rejection of our system. Watch how often they use the word,’ adding: ‘They hate America, so they hate the Constitution and want to quickly amass 51 percent of the votes to change it.’”
“He explicitly supports forms of election-rigging through gerrymandering. Fair electoral boundaries, he writes, amount to ‘Playing nice to placate the so-called middle,’ which ‘has been a losing strategy for patriots for decades’. Since ‘the other side is stacked with enemies of freedom’, Hegseth argues, ‘Republican legislatures should draw congressional lines that advantage pro-freedom candidates – and screw Democrats.’”
“Hegseth’s rhetoric about perceived ‘internal’ or ‘domestic enemies’, along with media reports highlighting his tattoo of the crusader motto ‘Deus Vult’, may ring alarm bells for those concerned by Donald Trump’s repeated threats to unleash the US military, which Hegseth would directly control, on those he has described as ‘the enemy within’.”

Hell Hath No Fury Like a Co-Parent Scorned
Summary: Based on that old internet post where a fae and a demon are promised the same baby. Voldemort (the demon) and Harry (the fae) both technically have custody over the child, and neither of them are willing to back down about it (what do you think they are, losers?) A prompt by BorealisPhonix.
Word count: 947
The crossroads was a place of paradoexs, where shadows whispered secrets to the light, and the air shimmered as though it was unsure whether to be warm or cold. It was here, beneath a sky split between perpetual sunlight and a simmering blood moon, that two figures materialised in a storm of angry magic.
On one side stood Voldemort, a towering silhouette cloaked in the scent of brimstone and despair. His eyes, two glowing embers in an otherwise featureless face, burned with malice as his shape flickered, serpentine and shifting, revealing something even less human beneath a mass of shadows and spines that clawed at the edges of reality.
Opposite him, Harry emerged from a glade that hadn’t existed a moment before. Flowers bloomed in his wake, twisting into shapes too intricate to be natural, while silver vines coiled around his feet, pulsing with energy. His face, painfully symmetrical and glowing faintly with a light that hurt to look at directly, was framed by wild black hair that seemed to move in an unfelt breeze. He smiled, wide and sharp, revealing teeth that were perhaps a little too perfect.
Between them, the baby wailed, a mortal child wrapped in a bundle of tattered cloth, wholly unaware of the cosmic custody battle about to erupt.
"Excuse me," Voldemort intoned, his voice deep and reverberating like the toll of a funeral bell. "This child belongs to me. The father promised me its soul in exchange for dominion over his enemies."
Harry tilted his head, the motion unnervingly fluid. "Oh, did he now?" His voice was as melodic as a lullaby, yet carried an undercurrent of razorsharp mockery. "Funny thing, that. The mother struck a bargain with me. She asked for fae protection for her precious oldest son. And you know how we fae are about promises."
A tension crackled in the air as reality itself seemed to groan under the weight of their conflicting claims.
"You cannot take what has already been claimed," Voldemort hissed, the shadows around him coalescing into the vague shapes of writhing creatures. "A contract sealed in blood trumps your frivolous little agreements."
Harry chuckled, a sound that was maddening. "Blood? Cute. But a mother's word carries far more weight than you apparently understand, demon. Or perhaps you’ve forgotten the rules of our game?"
"The rules are malleable," Voldemort snarled, stepping forward. Each of his steps burned the ground beneath him, leaving smoldering ash in his wake. "And I do not play. This child is a tool, a weapon to be sharpened. A soul bound to me will accomplish far more than anything your flowery tricks could achieve."
Harry’s grin widened impossibly, the corners of his mouth nearly reaching his ears. "Flowery tricks? Oh, darling, if only you knew what you were up against. This child could become a legend under my care, a hero, even! Not to mention how much fun it will be watching you sulk about it."
As the argument reached an impasse, a sudden crack of thunder split the sky. The ground trembled, and a swirling portal of light and darkness erupted between them. From its depths emerged a third figure, draped in neutral-toned robes that shimmered with incomprehensible sigils. They were neither fae nor demon but something else entirely, an arbiter of cosmic law.
"Enough!" the mediator bellowed, their voice ringing with the authority of a dozen overlapping realms. "Your dispute threatens the fabric of reality itself. The child belongs to neither of you entirely."
Harry pouted, looking up through his long lashes that covered his sparkling green eyes. "Oh, but you can’t just let him have it. Do you know how boring demons are? It’ll be all fire and brimstone, with no room for whimsy."
"And leaving the child with the fae," Voldemort interjected icily, "will doom it to a life of frivolity and delusion. Mortals were not made for endless dances and riddles."
The mediator sighed a sound that carried the exhaustion of eons. "By the laws that bind your realms, you both hold valid claims. Therefore, the child’s custody must be… shared."
"Shared?" Voldemort’s voice could have frozen magma. "You expect me to share with him?"
Harry clapped his hands together, laughing with delight. "Oh, this is rich! We’re going to be a little family! Isn’t that just precious?"
The arbiter raised a hand, and both Harry and Voldemort fell silent, their gazes snapping to the being. "The contract is sealed. You will co-parent this mortal child. Any attempt to subvert this arrangement will result in—" They gestured vaguely at the fabric of reality, which shuddered ominously. "Unraveling."
Harry leaned down, scooping up the baby with unsettling grace. The child instantly stopped crying, staring up at him with wide, curious eyes. "Well, this will be fun," he mused. "Don’t you think so, Voldey?"
"Do not call me that," Voldemort growled, his hands curling into claws.
Harry wiggled his fingers in the demon’s direction, his smile nothing short of insufferable. "Oh, we’re going to get along splendidly, I can already tell. Come on, darling," he cooed to the baby. "Let’s go set up our little home."
Voldemort glared at Harry, shadows gathering around him like an angry storm cloud. "I will not tolerate your frivolities, fae."
"And I," Harry replied breezily, "won’t tolerate your doom and gloom aesthetic. But I suppose we’ll just have to compromise, won’t we?"
The arbiter, apparently satisfied that their job was done, vanished in a flash of light, leaving Harry and Voldemort standing in the now-silent crossroads.
The baby hiccupped.
Harry grinned. "This is going to be so much fun."
Voldemort, his fiery eyes narrowing, muttered darkly, "This is going to be Heaven.
