I love learning that my dad is a genocidal fucking maniac
#m rambles#I mentioned offhandedly the stuff going on in Palestine#I’m not shocked that he’s a Zionist#I mean he’s a trump republican so it really isn’t a shock#but to hear him say ‘if they offered me a ceasefire I wouldn’t have taken it either. I would kill them all.’#and ‘the peace will come when they’re all dead’#that’s a whole other thing#I was fully prepared to argue against all his points#and good god did I#for once I didn’t have a breakdown when talking to him#I just explained why he was wrong and gave him the evidence and stats#but in his words ‘I don’t need to research because I already know everything’#jesus fucking christ#I said ‘maybe I’m just a radical but I don’t think anyone deserves to die’ and he said that yeah that was radical#then two seconds later claimed that I would have been happy if hitler killed all the Jews in Germany????#please make it make sense#like that would literally be your position. that the peace would come after everyone was dead. that’s literally what you said#I’m fuming right now#he’s the only Zionist I’ve actually talked to in two years#and the only Zionist that I know of that I still talk to#I used to think that the man could change if he got off of Fox News for two fucking seconds#but no he’s apparently just as bloodthirsty as the rest of them

He sounded interested and even concerned. I thought he had been touched by what the doctor and advocates in the meeting had just shared about their journey with their patients and their own family members. But I was wrong.
“Those people . . . ” Donald said, trailing off. “The shape they’re in, all the expenses, maybe those kinds of people should just die.”
I truly did not know what to say. He was talking about expenses. We were talking about human lives. For Donald, I think it really was about the expenses, even though we were there to talk about efficiencies, smarter investments, and human dignity.
I turned and walked away
[from later in the article]
Donald took a second as if he was thinking about the whole situation.
“I don’t know,” he finally said, letting out a sigh. “He doesn’t recognize you. Maybe you should just let him die and move down to Florida.”
Wait! What did he just say? That my son doesn’t recognize me? That I should just let him die?
Did he really just say that? That I should let my son die . . . so I could move down to Florida?
Really?
[...]
Maybe I shouldn’t have been surprised to hear Donald say that. It wasn’t far off from what he’d said that day in the Oval Office after our meeting with the advocates. Only that time, it was other people’s children who should die. This time, it was my son.
When you’re legitimately so evil you tell a parent, your own fucking nephew, to their face that it’d be more cost-effective to let their child die because they are disabled.
Honestly, it's not the ableism or eugenics that shocks me. Donald Trump has shown who he is time and time again. I guess what got me was that he’d be willing to hold the same views for family members.
Usually these types of people make exceptions for their own. “It’s not immoral if it’s my abortion, I’m only doing this because I have no choice, mine is necessary” kind of thing.
But nope. Donald just straight up thinks his great nephew should die because it’s expensive to keep him alive.
Jesus Wept.
Fucking vote. Please, I’m begging you. As a disabled immigrant who isn’t able to vote I see so many people saying they’re going to boycott the election by not voting and I want to scream.
You boycott products by withholding money.
Not voting in elections only disenfranchises yourself. You’re not protesting. You’re giving tyrants power.
Please vote like people’s lives depend on it because they do.
If you need help figuring out how to register I will help you but please. Please vote.

Jason Wilson at The Guardian:
In a December 2023 speech, JD Vance defended a notorious white nationalist convicted over 2016 election disinformation, canvassed the possibility of breaking up tech companies, attacked diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts and talked about a social media “censorship regime” that “came from the deep state on some level”.
The senator’s speech was given at the launch of a “counterrevolutionary” book – praised by the now Republican vice-presidential candidate as “great” – which was edited and mostly written by employees of the far-right Claremont Institute. In the book, Up from Conservatism, the authors advocate for the repeal of the Civil Rights Act, for politicians to conduct “deep investigations into what the gay lifestyle actually does to people”, that college and childcare be defunded and that rightwing governments “promote male-dominated industries” in order to discourage female participation in the workplace. Vance’s endorsement of the book may raise further questions about his extremism, and that of his networks. The Guardian emailed Vance’s Senate staff and the Trump and Vance campaign with detailed questions about his appearance at the launch, but received no response.
‘Congratulations on such a great book’
Vance’s speech was given in the Capitol visitor center in Washington DC last 11 December, according to a version of C-Span’s subsequent broadcast of the event that is preserved at the Internet Archive. The occasion was the launch of Up from Conservatism, an essay collection edited by Arthur Milikh, the executive director of the Claremont Institute’s Center for the American Way of Life. In his introductory remarks on the day, Milikh said the book “maps out the right’s errors over the last generation … on immigration, on universities, on the administrative state”.
The book, however, appears more directed towards supplanting an old right – seen as too accommodating – with a “new right” focused on destroying its perceived enemies on the left.
In the book’s introduction, Milikh writes: “The New Right recognizes the Left as an enemy, not merely an opposing movement, because the Left today promotes a tyrannical conception of justice that is irreconcilable with the American idea of justice … the New Right is a counterrevolutionary and restorative force.” Also in that piece, Milikh offers a vision of the new right’s triumph, which has an authoritarian ring: “We like to say that one must learn to govern, but a truer expression is that one must learn to rule.” In his speech, Vance first offered “congratulations on such a great book, and thanks for getting such a good crew together”, and then warmed to themes similar to Milikh’s. “Republicans, conservatives, we’re still terrified of wielding power, of actually doing the job that the people sent us here to do,” Vance said, later adding: “Isn’t it just common sense that when we’re given power, we should actually do something with it?”
Brad Onishi, author of Preparing for War, a critical account of Christian nationalism and the host of the Straight White American Jesus podcast, said: “Vance, many Claremont people, including some folks in this volume, and especially the ‘post-liberal’ conservative Catholics that he hangs out with, have advocated for a form of big government that will wield its power in order to set the country right.” He added: “And you may think, well, OK, that doesn’t sound so bad. But here the common good is rooting out queer people, making sure non-Christians don’t immigrate to the country and outlawing things like pornography that are currently a matter of personal choice. “You end up with this conservatism that promotes an invasive government conservatism rather than a small government.”
[...]
‘Free our minds … from the fear of being called racists’
In the book, commended by Vance, a series of authors take reactionary – or “counterrevolutionary” – positions on a number of social and economic issues. In one chapter, John Fonte writes of disrupting narratives of civil rights progress: “The great meaning of America, we are told, comes from liberating so-called oppressed groups and taming the power of privileged groups. Thus, our history is one of liberation: first of Blacks, then of women, then of gays, and now of the transgendered.” Fonte retorts: “Not only is this narrative false; it will take us further down the path of national self-destruction … On the questions of slavery, American Indians, and racial discrimination, the progressive narrative is not a historically accurate project designed to address past wrongs, but a weaponized movement to deconstruct and replace American civilization.”
Like other authors in the collection, Fonte offers policy recommendations. He proposes heavy-handed federal intervention into education: “[T]he US Congress should prohibit any federal funds in education to support projects … that promote DEI (“diversity, equity and inclusion”) and divisive concepts such as the idea that America is ‘systemically racist.’” In his chapter, David Azerrad tells readers: “We need to free our minds once and for all from the fear of being called racists.” The assistant professor and research fellow at rightwing Hillsdale College, and former Heritage Foundation director and Claremont Institute fellow, also claims that conservatives have been too conciliatory on race: “For too many conservatives, the goal is to outdo progressives in displays of compassion for blacks … yet blacks continue to vote monolithically for the Democratic Party and progressives have only ramped up their hysterical accusations of racism.”
Azerrad continues with white nationalist talking points on race, crime and IQ, writing: “It is not racist to notice that blacks commit the majority of violent crimes in America, no more than it is to incarcerate convicted black criminals … There is no reason to expect equal outcomes between the races … In some elite and highly technical sectors in which there are almost no qualified blacks, color-blindness will mean no blacks.” Elsewhere, Azerrad writes: “[C]onservatives will need to root out from their souls the pathological pity for blacks, masquerading as compassion, that is the norm in contemporary America … This is most obvious in the widespread embrace of affirmative action (the lowering of standards to advance blacks) and the general reluctance to speak certain blunt but necessary truths about the pathologies plaguing black America – in particular, violent crime, fatherlessness, low academic achievement, nihilistic alienation, and the cult of victimhood.”
[...]
‘Do not subsidize childcare’
Helen Andrews, meanwhile, offers “three things we could do right now that would put a big dent in the multiplying lies that have come from feminists for the last forty years about women and careers”. Her first proposal is to “stop subsidizing college so much”, since, according to Andrews, in the 22-29 age group, “there are four women with college degrees … for every three men. That is going to lead to a lot of women with college degrees who do not end up getting married.” “Second,” Andrews continues, “the Right can do more to promote male-dominated industries. Reviving American manufacturing and cracking down on China’s unfair trade practices isn’t just an economic and national security issue; it’s a gender issue.” Her third proposal is “do not subsidize childcare” – since the fact that “many working moms are struggling” with childcare costs “might actually be good information the economy is trying to tell you”. Andrews is the print editor of the paleoconservative magazine the American Conservative and has previously written sympathetically about white supremacist minority regimes in Rhodesia – renamed Zimbabwe after white rule ended – and South Africa.
Scott Yenor claims in his chapter that before the 1960s, America lived under a “Straight Constitution, which honored enduring, monogamous, man-woman, and hence procreative marriage. It also stigmatized alternatives”. Yenor is a political science professor at Boise State University and a fellow at the Claremont Institute. He then claims: “We currently live under the Queer Constitution”, which “honors all manner of sex”, and under which “laws restricting contraception, sodomy, and fornication are, by its lights, unconstitutional”. Yenor claims: “These changes in law are but the first part of an effort to normalize and then celebrate premarital sex, recreational sex, men who have sex with men, childhood immodesty, masturbation, lesbianism, and all conceptions of transgenderism.”
Yenor says the state should intervene in citizens’ sex lives: “In the states, new obscenity laws for a more obscene world should be adopted. Pornography companies and websites should be investigated for their myriad public ills like sex trafficking, addictions, and ruined lives. The justice of anti-discrimination must be revisited.” In a separate essay co-written with Milikh, the editor, Yenor advocates in effect destroying the current education system and starting again. The essay includes a recommendation for school curriculums: “Students could start building obstacle courses at an early age, learning how to construct a wall and how to adapt the wall for climbing … Students could learn to build and shoot guns as part of a normal course of action in schools and learn how to grow crops and prepare them for meals.”
The Guardian reports that Trump VP pick and Ohio Senator JD Vance promoted far-right extremist views from Arthur Milkh’s Up From Conservatism essay book.

Okay here’s the hard part.
I think a lot about that guy, so called Jesus, and his philosophy of radical forgiveness and empathy. For a long time I thought that was just a line abusers use to force their victims to forgive them (AND IT IS)
But! I also think about Lucifer and the things he taught me regarding the concept of hell. If I was the ruler of hell and I had to manage all these terrible people, what would I do? Torture them? Give them endless suffering so they feel guilty? Do to them what they did to others so they can understand how bad it feels?
Latinos who voted for Trump, oh you disappoint me, but no, I don’t want you to be deported. Women who voted for Trump, *sigh*, no, I don’t want to see you get an ectopic pregnancy or carry your dead baby. No I do not want all those conservative gays to lose their right to marriage. And no, I don’t even want all of those fucked up fascist nazi racists to die.
It would be SO satisfying to see them get what they deserve, right?
God, I’m so sick of being apart of a species that loves to conquer. We bleed, they win, they bleed, we win. I’m sick of patching wounds. All I see is hellfire.
My friend Taylor Mcnallie is facing fraudulent charges because of an altercation that happened while she was protesting in Calgary. The bitch of a cop who assaulted her not only received no punishment, she got a fucking promotion. I remember during one of Taylor’s speeches someone said something like “I hope she gets arrested and goes to jail,” and Taylor said, “I don’t hope she goes to jail. Jail shouldn’t exist. I just want her to get fired and apologize. That’s all I want.”
Pacifism, true pacifism, like the kind that guy preached about, doesn’t mean laying down and accepting every terrible thing assholes do to you with a smile. It means taking away their ability to harm without harming them yourself. Eliminating the evil without becoming evil. Punching nazis does not make you a nazi, but praying for the death and destruction of people, human beings, because you hate them as much as they hate you? *sigh*
The hardest part about this whole radical empathy thing, is the fact that I cannot even wish harm upon those who want me dead. Isn’t that funny? That literal neo nazi, yeah, I hope he has shelter. Fuck I hope that rapist still eats tonight. I hope he feels shame until the day he dies, but I don’t hope he gets raped in prison. I don’t even want him in prison to be honest, I want him to be cared for, and I want his ability to do harm stripped away.
“Even if he hurts a child?”
God damn it, yes. I can’t add more suffering into the world, even if it is inflicted upon the people I’d love to hate most. I want to take away his power to do evil, I want everyone to know what kind of person he is and the terrible things he does so they can keep themselves safe… and then I want him to be safe.
I want all those terfs to have clean drinking water. I know they hate my guts, ugh, it is what it is. But praying that they experience the pain they’ve caused me, hoping that they die or suffer only makes me more like them.
WHICH SUCKS. This way of thinking is NOT satisfying AT ALL!!! Being vindictive and petty is FUN and it FEELS GOOD!!! That’s why it’s so fucking easy, and that’s why we keep eating each other over and over again.
Having said all of this, we should definitely bring back the guillotine lmao. I’m not saying that we should be super nice to people who are trying to kill us, do fight back. If the people need to kill their oppressors to be free then, hey, I’m not going to tell them they’re wrong for that. This isn’t a “we should all hug and sing kumbaya together! Kindness is always the way!!!” take. If the only way to bring death to the empire is to bring death to its owners, then so be it. Do so in the way that produces the least amount of degradation to your soul.
But wishing natural disasters on Texas, hoping that that racist woman’s parents get deported, out of spite and hatred… what are they doing to you? What are you doing to yourself?
Humanity is disgusting, truly truly abhorrent. I want to be able to look at us and embrace us with acceptance of that. Every single fucking terrible person on this earth deserves liberty, life, and freedom. Even when you spit in my face and hurt the people I love, damn it, I won’t hurt you. I see you as a rabid animal that needs to be sedated and slowly acclimated to compassion. And I will keep trying, even if you never learn. I can’t give up on humanity.
This is the most important and the hardest part. I’m not telling you to forgive, forgiveness is for you. If it doesn’t serve you, don’t forgive. But don’t let people without humanity kill the humanity that exists within you. Don’t let hatred fester in your soul. You’re allowed to be mad, hell, you should be furious. Let that fury keep you warm, but do not become a monster too.
To all you stupid fucking fascist pieces of shit, I hope you get exactly what you deserve. And what you deserve is not death, pain or suffering. It’s self reflection and growth, guilt and humility. As much as I would enjoy seeing you hurt, I refuse to become like you. And damn it I love you, I love every human being on this planet. I love you so much that I cannot become you. I love you so fucking much that I will continue to fight for your rights even when you’re trying to take mine away. and I hate that I love you like this, but I can’t stop.
So I will stop you.
- James Baldwin

So here is the long and short of it:
Google used (uses) geofencing data, location data that undeniably shows where you and your phone have been.
Google sells this data to data brokers and advertisers, whether you like it or not. And yeah, it wouldn’t surprise me if Apple also did/does this, but if they do, Tim Cook has done a yeoman’s job of keeping it secret.
Google also hands out your location data to police departments (and governmental agencies led by conservative, anti-abortion Republicans, but I’m sure that’s unimportant, right?).
Now—and here’s the crux of the matter—just as the government was using Google’s location data to prosecute January 6th rioters, Google has had a sudden change of heart and will effectively limit their ability to remotely store your GPS information on their servers (which means it will mostly only be available locally on your Android phone’s hard drive, thus making it significantly harder - not completely impossible - for Google to give the police access to bulk location data, even if presented with a search warrant).
The bottom line is, it was always wrong for Google to collect and then sell their “reverse location search data” to advertisers, data miners, the police and the government. The germane question is, why now? Why has Google suddenly found Jesus, so to speak, and decided that customers privacy rights are sacrosanct, just as the U.S. government is using that data to prosecute Trump sycophants who wanted to overthrow the election?
SN: I think the whole green bubble vs. blue bubble argument is a stupid made up problem by whiny people who don’t have enough real problems in life (if you disagree then please go make your own post), and Idgaf if you’re an Android or an iPhone user. If you’re happy with your phone, that’s all that matters — but our privacy rights constantly being violated isn’t trivial, that’s actually very important. And Google suddenly deciding that now is the best time for them to end their practice of ratting people out seems highly sus.

Six(ish) Sentence Sunday
I've already shared a few snippets from my trans!Alex Fandom Trumps Hate fic, which I am SO fucking excited about—but I've also taken my usual batshit chaotic approach of 'just write stuff as inspiration hits and fit it all together later', and I realised a not-insignificant period of time into doing this that I'd written some stuff that was inherently contradictory. But I also LOVED it all and didn't wanna give anything up... so long story short, now I have TWO trans!Alex WIPs 🤣 One is the longer, more Big Feelings fic for FTH... and the other is this, which will be a bit shorter. And pornier. I mean, they'll both have porn and feelings, because I am who I am, but... you know. Let's fucking go. (I might try to smash this one out for @rwrbgenderfunkyfest if I can!)
“Jesus fuck, sweetheart.” Alex buries one hand in his own curls as he comes down, the other resting on the top of Henry’s head, who has only moved far enough away to press soft kisses to Alex’s thigh. Henry’s face is a fucking mess, and he looks… well, he would say Henry looks unduly proud of himself, except for the fact that his knees currently have the approximate consistency and weight-bearing capabilities of a particularly booze-heavy jello shot, so really, Henry’s earned the smugness that’s radiating out of every pore. “That was—” “Yes, it was rather.” Henry smirks, his eyes locked on Alex’s as he flattens it, dragging it up towards his hip before planting a hard, toothy kiss there. His hand slides up Alex’s other leg until his thumb is resting at the edge of the scar above Alex’s pubic bone, and Alex reads the question in his eyes half a second before he voices it. “May I?” Alex blinks. In his experience, people tend to ignore his scars completely during sex, even if they have practical questions about the equipment. But Henry’s already sucked him off until he saw God—if he gets any better at it, Alex might die. “If you want.” Henry’s smile softens into something sweet and hopeful and breathtaking, and then he leans forward to press an almost unbearably gentle kiss to the raised skin there. “Christ, you’re beautiful.” It’s so quiet, Alex isn’t sure he was meant to hear it at all.

America is turning into the Handmaids tale. That sentence has been thrown around a lot the past couple years and I think I’m actually starting to believe it. Are we gonna have to go full handmaids tale before you guys start to WAKE UP. What’s it’s going to take for you trump supporters to finally say I’m sorry you told me so to finally feel remorse?
is it?? Perhaps when all immigrants are deported? is it when queer people what? Reform? go to church camps? Get “cured?” or how about when all trans children have committed suicide? How about when every single indigenous person and families have been eradicated? When doctors life saving doctors are being arrested for performing medical procedures? When your diabetic grandmother can no longer afford her insulin because of inflation and she looses a limb?? A world where Palestine isn’t even on a map? how about getting rid of every single Jewish, Muslim non Christian person and religion because “Trump is for Jesus?” Or maybe when states like Florida and California are all underwater for not taking climate change seriously? How about all the black Americans that the cops will and HAVE turned their backs on and will continue doing so? How about when the grocery prices start going up so severely and the stock market crashes again and we will be forced to into another Depression?? When so many forced births are happening more children being born dead? More children being born of rape and incest being put into foster care and the influx of children going into foster care with no where to go and no family. When all the black women you know go missing? When gun violence is so out of control people don’t even feel safe leaving their own houses or going to work or children going to school? What is it going to take for you people to feel empathy? To feel bad about what’ve you’ve done. To feel regret.
I’m going to compare it personally because it seems the only CHANCE of yall feeling remorse is when it has to be affecting you, personally.
when your own happily pregnant daughter has a miscarriage and she’s charged with second degree murder? And her doctor is arrested.
when your five year old son gets shot and killed by a new gun law YOU voted
when your child is going through a vitamin deficiency for your inability to pay for groceries and they start loosing teeth?
When your daughters rapist gets child support
when your retired elderly parents are forced to start working again because of the housing crisis
what needs to happen for yall to wake up and realize what will happen or at the very least what COULD happen.
(I’m sorry with how vulgar and blunt this post is but I just can’t help put it out there HOW and WHAT could happen without pg-ing it sanitizing it better for them to consume and be comfortable with reading. I don’t give a shit, be uncomfortable)

Excerpt:
“After Donald Trump’s recent guilty verdict, the internet has seen a meme deluge analogizing Trump to Christ on the grounds that they both experienced trial, conviction, and criminality. This meme template actually dates back to Trump’s civil fraud trial last year, when Trump himself shared courtroom-sketch-style fan art of Jesus seated next to him. Another meme, this time referring to Trump’s guilty verdict, features Jesus standing behind a seated Trump with his hands on the president’s shoulders above loopy script reading ‘It’s okay. They called me guilty too.’ Another captions a diptych of Trump’s mug shot and the portrait Christ Crucified by the Spanish painter Diego Velázquez with the text: ‘you don’t think you can vote for a convicted criminal, remember that you worship one.’”

You want to know what’s REALLY cringe? Aphobes like this. He’s sooo narrow minded, soooo ignorant, he thinks anything that doesn’t fit his narrative isn’t real. He also thinks Jesus is gonna save everyone. You vsn tell hes a hypochrite, and I’ll bet you anything he’s the kind who worship’s trump’s filthy orange pucker hole. Probably wants a good go at trump.
The best irony is that his own page is full of dead behind the eyes soul sucking eejit influencer shit. He’s so shallow, a turd in a pothole is deeper than him. He just looks like he smells. He’s boring and annoying as hell.
Lmfaoooooo
Awwww luvvie is upset - he thinks it’s not real cuz we don’t want to feck him. Boooo hooo hoooooo go cry in ur mums knickers, u utter numpty. It’s people like this that make me EXTRA proud that I’m ace. I’d NEVER want to be as deluded as these buggers.
How would THEY like if WE told THEM that THEIR stuff wasn’t real? (No matter what you identify as). See how that doesn’t help anything? That goes both ways. U want us to accept YOU, but u can’t accept us.
I still fail to understand why dipshites like this think we are so much of a threat to them that they have to lash out. Look, we r not trying to feck you, ur man, woman, whatever you’re into. Unless THATS ur issue. If that is, then take ur narcissistic arse and sod right off. Ur not that impressive. Thanks for making a foolish example of urself, though. We can all laugh at u for it.
Remember folks,
YOU HAVE JUST AS MUCH A RIGHT TO WHAT YOU
DONT WANT AS OTHER PEOPLE HAVE TO WHAT THEY DO WANT.
And not only do I NOT want to feck a man, a woman or anyone, I sure as HELL don’t want THIS moron!
THANKS FOR PROVING ME POINT ON THIS POST THOUGH LOL -

Jesus Christ, this desperate push to make Biden resign from the race is beyond fucking agitating. The man has COVID AND CAN BARELY WALK and he isn’t quitting. This defiance within the party is causing such a big issue with voters. We all know he’s too old. Oh well! He’s not leaving! If he dies in office then fuck it, we’ll replace em! But rn he’s all we got and bitches need to accept that. It sucks and it’s bs but at this point I personally feel him stepping down will induce chaos and increase Trump’s chances of winning. Which are ALARMINGLY high, by the way.
You know what I’m gonna say. NOVEMBER. VOTE.

Ouhghhh im getting frustratedddd
Listen, im just a pilot. I know nothing about politics, i know nothing about anything but how to identify a critical engine using P.A.S.T. and how to read a fucking airspeed indicator.
But lets talk a little bit hypothetical for a second. Okay. Cool. Biden sucks as bad as trump. Lets say that. Lets say they equal the exact same amount of badness as each other
What in the FUCK is your plan? Whats your plan???? Vote Kennedy? The guy who hates vaccines? Vote some third party candidates that nobody’s heard of? Blow up the senate? I know damn well youre not doing that, because people would have already, and violence isn’t a god damn solution and you fuckers know it.
So what now? Whats your wonderful beautiful plan to keep everyone safe? I Really want to know so i can help, because last i checked, voting fucking matters no matter what, and despite joe being literally genocidal, if democrats win one more time the gop will lose their shit and Hopefully!! Explode, allowing maybe actually decent fucking candidates into office in a later date
Maybe joe biden will die! Maybe we wont have Supreme Court members resign, leaving a republican supreme court for a really long time! Maybe things will get slightly fucking better and not significantly worse!!!!
Jesus FUCKING christ

“We need 3rd party candidates!”
Sure. The system needs adjustments and more options, it’s a good goal. Nobody is against this. Ranked choice voting is gaining ground, it’s a start.
A reality check on “3rd party” candidates running (or who were running) in the 2024 US POTUS election:
* Brain worms bear cub carcas guy (age: 70) who suspended his campaign and endorsed Trump after trying to pose as progressive.
* Trippy detached from reality racist comment maker (age: 72) who suspended then unsuspended her campaign and plans to save us all with Mystic Jesus.
* Refusal to run for down ticket who shows up every 4-8 years only to run for the highest office in the land anti-vaxxer (age: 74) backed by GOP, and is currently attacking a progressive who is outspoken, rolls up her sleeves, and works tirelessly, because apparently engaging with reality and trying to enact change from inside the system is considered evil now.
* Faux progressive whose name I can’t even remember now who was likely a No Labels spoiler or GOP spoiler there to enable a MAGA win.
Oh yeah and whatever happened to the No Labels campaign. They vanished. Gosh how effective.
It matters to understand not only that the US has a locked narrow system, but that few alt candidates for POTUS have a purpose other than to undermine the left POTUS candidate by siphoning votes so the far right can win.
If you want more change, pay attention to down ticket races, where there are often genuine and effective progressives running who could use some help. They’re the future powers. Change will happen. It already is, if you pay attention to congress and state legislature gains and news over time.
Voting is only one part of engaging. Yes it’s crucial. But this democracy isn’t self-running, it needs participation from people, actively engaging matters and makes a difference. If you’re sincere about wanting to make things better, stay informed, and take a closer look around, and engage with it. There are low-demanding things to do, even if it’s just an hour given here and there. Or if you can, donate to down ticket races.
The left will need the triumvirate of House, Senate, and Oval Office to hold off the harm of the far right AND enact active deeper changes. The Democrats have in fact enacted ample legislation that moves things in a better direction, a fact that gets often ignored, but for all the changes, there are good bills that die in congress because the far right blocks them and there is always more work to do.
Plus state legislature races are also even more important now to help create and maintain sanctuary states and keep the erosion of civil rights by the MAGA at bay, but it is important that they are stopped at the national level at the top of the ticket.
Hand-wringing that “but we need 3rd party candidates” won’t really do anything.
