Russell: 95% of my job is just like, keeping Troy alive. Dwight, Frank and Sherry: ... Russell: And let me tell you its not a fucking walking in the park! Alright? Last time I left Troy unsupervised his truck got flipped into a ditch and he lost a fight with a fucking tree AND THEN Dwight, Frank and Sherry: ... Russell: He tripped into a goddamn trap. You'd think since he was so tall he could see where he was going but NO! Troy with a tree branch still in his shoulder: You're exaggerating Russell: Am I Troy? Am I??

I was thinking about fear the walking dead (weird I know right?) , more specifically about troy and how WE NEVER FUCKING GOT TO SEE HIM AND HIS WIFE IM SO PISSED.
Like I fucking waited WEEKS just to know how he survived literally GETTING HIS SKULL CRACKED OPEN and somehow getting out from the dam before the explosion.
And instead we didn’t get any fucking answer like whyyyyy
Literally the only reason people started caring about fear was because Troy was back. They could have given us a bit more content instead of having to watch a whole ass episode about the Sanctuary 💀
I hate this

Season 8B thoughts
This is gonna be a horrible mess but I need to share
oh my god I love Strand's new family. Frank and Klous are amazing.
Frank is such a sweetheart to Strand, even when finding out that his identity was a lie. That whole interaction was so sweet.
Klous reminds me so much of Nick. It's clear he reminds Madison of Nick too.
Tbh such a Madison hater but she's so well written in this ep
Madison telling strand that he's strand pissed me off sm
Troys entrance was fucking epic, and then with the hammer
I'm so sad they had all this build up with Alicia and stuff but not mention Nick
No way did Troy actually kill Alicia also, he had no reason too. I think he was getting under Madison's skin
I think Alicia is in his group and just has a different arm
Daniels entrance was also SO COOL
Tldr I'm really happy with this episode but wish they mentioned nick

My thoughts about 8x08 “Iron Tiger” Under the cut: it’s a bit long and I tried to add all my thoughts on what I remember.
The writers: playing on our nostalgia and it’s working
I think because the writers are focusing on nostalgia and the past NOW that yeah it's nice but also these retcons just make it feel so empty and on surface level. Some things were bs and made no sense. It’s like the writers are trying to prove, see we did watch S3 (which is overall praised) but then they bend it to make Troy this bad guy but also not because he has a kid now so it’s more complicated than that. But I have seen that in general those that liked S3 liked that for example Luciana had a bigger role, she reunited with Daniel, but also the callback to earlier seasons. But even addressing things like Charlie killing Nick and Madison’s reaction to it.
The OG gang reunion
Also, the reunion between Madison and Luciana... wtf was that? Or between Daniel and Luciana and the others. I don’t know, the whole gang is together, but it didn’t feel as emotional? Also Kim’s acting (no comment) but whoever liked it. Glad you did.
Jeremiah Otto: I don’t give a shit about my old man
The mention of Troy not giving a shit about his father. Like, can we acknowledge that Troy has a complex relationship with Jeremiah? He cried for him, while Jake just looked by staring in shock, and yes Troy did cal; him a drunk. I think at that point he was confused, angry, sad, and everything in between so his feelings are multifaceted. Now, we can say he got over it after all these years, but we as the audience have to fill in that gap.
Tracy: Troy’s daughter
Now about his daughter being named after his mother. PHEW. I know Troy has mommy issues, but just NO. Again, it’s like the writers are like, look at how we can tie this S3 fact to the current storyline without making that deep dive. I know I am giving them too much credit, but still. I can demand that. Ya’ll are the writers and directors. In what world would Troy name his daughter after the woman who was supposed to love him but still didn’t when he was the only one who took care of her and was still hated. We know his mental state is peculiar, but WHY. Even Madison taunted him with is mother and Troy was ready to slit her throat (also because she was just taunting him and undermining his authority) for it. In what world would this make sense? I did love how Troy went from dark, ruthless leader to worried and frantic father in a flash. I am curious how Troy raised her. He was raised pretty militant so I wonder what he took from his childhood. Tracy snuck out to see a tanker truck cause she’d never seen one before, so she’s probably aso been raised sheltered? I mean, the kids were kept in separate safer place in the hotel and also Troy kept infected in cages. Just to spite Madison though, lol.
Troy’s wife / Tracy’s mother
Troy and his supposed SO. I’ve given it some thought. I knew they were going to go this route when it was revealed his daughter was named Tracy. Do I like it? I’m still 50/50 on it. We might or might not get more or she will just be a nameless phantom. Either way, I would not feel any type of way about it if I am being honest. I agree with the fanfic type, because I think most of us who write for Troy and go by S3 canon in some way and wanted him to live had this in mind. And also a lady being his saving grace and making him this better man (a lot of guesses) or she could have been the same as him? But then why would she save a strange man drifting in some water after the Dam exploded. But yes, I do agree it’s a gap with the Troy we got in S3 knowing what we know, but it could’ve been a slow burn guys and given that we got 2nd chances hammered into us in 8B that’s what we have to take from it. It’s up to us to fill in those gaps more so because we have like 3 episode with Troy left (since the next on is focused on Dwight and Sherry and their codependent relationship). If she will remain nameless and faceless more for us to fill in.
Troy and Madison
I liked their dynamic and how they played the game and Daniel and Kim together is electric. I did cringe at certain things like her not being out of breath fighting his ass surrounded by smoke and who knows what. It’s so convenient. I do wonder what we will get. From spoilers these two will work together to save Tracy from Padre. So either Madison sacrifices herself to save that little girl so Troy can get his happy ending with his daughter?
Troy and Alicia
I don’t think Troy is lying about this? Troy’s daughter makes a comment that she saw Alicia in the horde. I know people have this hope that she is coming back or secretly filmed something. I hope we get that question and Madison puts her down. I do wonder if in the same episode where we get Troy and Madison working together, he will share more details about Alicia’s last moments no matter how bad or villain-like they made it.
Other thoughts:
Daniel and Troy’s back and forth is hilarious. Him threatening Troy and Troy just looking at him right, alright old man. But Ruben Blades said Daniel would something big in the finale… if they kill Troy that’d be the biggest cop out Strand… what is his role? I feel it’s played out Sherry and June going to ask Dwight for backup against Troy I liked the Trick friendship mention and Troy being sad about it Charlie’s death. I wasn’t as attached to her, but the actress did a good job knowing the shit she’s been getting by fans since she killed Nick. I thought its sad they brought her back to kill her again to simply drive Madison and Daniel’s story and vengeance against Troy

Things I noticed watching Season 8b FTWD (about Troy just because):
Spoilers, obviously.
Other than knocking her unconscious Troy genuinely doesn’t seem to want to hurt Charlie.
When he kicks her chair over there’s something about the motion where he’s almost avoiding actually touching/hurting her whilst still trying to be intimidating/threatening.
When he moves to unlock the walkers from their cages whilst she is shoeless and surrounded by glass, his little glance over his shoulder and sigh seems reluctant. I wonder if Charlie hadn’t spoken up at that point if he’d have gone through with it or if it was an empty threat.
Finally, he seems upset when she commits suicide to escape being a his “leverage” over Madison. I don’t think it’s because he lost his power with her gone, I think he feels genuine regret that she died.
Daniel Sharman is such a fantastic actor and can bring layers to characters even when writers are determined to keep them very two dimensional (you’re either the good guy or the bad etc)
His use of body language and facial expressions is so interesting to watch. He really embodies his character and that’s what makes Troy so great to watch.

Okay so I don't like how Serena died {FTWD thoughts}
Serena shouldn't have been dead, we should have been able to see Troy and her and Tracy be a family and be happy.
Serena shouldn't have been sacrificed for the plot in order to bump up the Clarks. No, leave Troy and his wife and their happiness alone
IN WHAT UNIVERSE WOULD TROY LET HIS WIFE GO ON A RUN ALONE???? Like, just NO. WTF.
Serena would have helped people, yes, I think she was a good person, but I don't think she would have put her life at risk like that especially when there was the chance she might not come back and cost Troy his wife and little Tracy her mother.
ALSO how did Alicia save Serena? Like after she got bitten they sent out a call for help, and Alicia answered. But it would have had to have been super quick response wise. You gotta cut the bite off quick.
Also we’re supposed to believe Troy Otto wouldn’t know what to do and where to cut?? Come on people

Eye of the Beholder; Troy’s journey as a Sirius Character from season 3 to season 8 of FTWD
I’ve talked about the Sirius symbolism for years, and written many posts about it. It ultimately means return/resurrection/rebirth, and it’s not seen just around Beth, tptb utilize it around many characters. Most notably around Rick, which I’ve discussed here. We also saw it around this handsome psychopath from FTWD, Troy Otto.
I’ve often pointed out how tptb offers us almost a blueprint to how to interpret the symbolism through the various spin-offs. We’ve recently seen Troy Otto “return from the dead” in FTWD, complete with one functioning eye, which is classic Sirius symbolism, and I wanted to elaborate some on his case, because it brilliantly demonstrates exactly how tptb use Sirius symbolism, and how consistently they use it across TWDU. There’s nothing random or accidental about it, it’s all carefully planned and executed.
Within minutes of appearing in his first episode, Troy was was marked by the Sirius symbolism. It was literally the first thing that happened to him in his first episode of FTWD, and the Sirius symbolism was fulfilled 6 years later (6 years for us, the audience. More if you go by the show timeline), when he returned “from the dead”.
Let’s explore his journey!
When Troy returned to FTWD is season 8b, as a Sirius character with one functioning eye, there really wasn’t any reason for anyone to be tremendously surprised. For starters, his “death" back in season 3 of FTWD was a textbook death fake-out situation. We watched Madison strike him across the side of his head with a hammer, we saw him fall down and we saw him laying unconscious inside the dam structure that was about to be blown up.
We didn’t see anyone stab him through the brain, we didn’t see him buried. It was heavily implied that he was dead, but there were never any sort of definite confirmation.
He didn’t return for season 4, and I don’t know if he was ever spoken about again on the show. That is, until we saw him in the coda of FTWD episode 8x6 All I See Is Red, and then in the trailer for FTWD 8B.
He was “gone” for a long time, until he suddenly was “resurrected”, in a coda (and OF COURSE we should read into that), seen by a radio (Sirius symbolism).
But that’s not the only reason we should have known he would eventually return as a one-eyed Sirius character. It was, in fact, foreshadowed pretty much from the second he introduced himself, in the first episode he ever appeared in, 3x1 Eye of the Beholder.
The name of the episode itself, “Eye of the Beholder”, is a clue. I’ve written countless posts about the Sirius symbolism, here’s an example (x). For TD, the most interesting part about the Sirius symbolism around Beth is the one-eyed dog from Alone.
He introduced himself to Madison and Alicia, and offered a nice cup of tea. We get this shot of a spoon as he says his name. Read about spoon symbolism here, it's tied to the North Star symbolism which I've also written about in a bunch of posts.
Madison wasn’t impressed with Troy or his beverages, and inevitably responded in the most Madison way imaginable, by stabbing the man through the eye, with the spoon we saw just moments earlier.
She stabbed him through the eye WITH A SPOON!!!
There are a bunch of other references to eyes in the episode as well:
There are references to death and resurrection:
There’s a clock on the wall, which happens to have its hands pointing to the 5 and the 8 (as in 5x8 Coda), a complete coincidence I’m sure, not at all related to all the talk about resurrections and eyes/Sirius symbolism:
There are a lot of numbers mentioned in the dialogue, such as this reference to 11 and 8 (which I’ve written about here and here):
And let’s not forget this mention of the number 17. Greg Nicotero famously stated in The Talking Dead that there had been 17 days between 5x8 Coda and the start of 5x9 WHAWGO. Many of TD’s theories revolve around what we believe happened in those 17 days. Here, we see that number in a scene where they’re experimenting on how long it takes from a person dies until they “resurrect”. They actually use the term resurrection in the episode. It's all about resurrection symbolism:
Tptb utilize the Sirius symbolism when a character is about to go through a death and resurrection arc. TD often focus on the Sirius symbolism around Beth, but I think it’s interesting to see how it’s used around other characters as well. Troy’s journey from episode 3x1 Eye of the Beholder to his "resurrection" in 8x6 All I See Is Red proves an excellent example of how tptb utilize the Sirius symbolism. It was literally around him from the second he was introduced in his first episode, and he was “gone” from TWDU for six long years. Tptb always have plan for a future death and resurrection arc when they introduse the Sirius symbolism. And like we've recently seen with Troy, the symbolism is always eventually fulfilled, even if it takes literal years.
When he returned in 8x6, it happened in a coda, which every TD’er quite rightly will heavily side-eye, and we saw him near a radio, which is Sirius symbolism. It was Madison’s voice on the radio that had led him to her, it was the radio that was the “instrument” that facilitated their unhappy reunion. I have a feeling there’ll soon be a different reunion, and I expect it to be of a more “happy” nature 😍
