Apr 9, 2022: “The difference between try and triumph is a little umph” - Unknown . On the Saturday before Easter I rode Griffin independently for the first time in several months. We practiced Grade 1 Novice Test A and had a few bobbles but it went great! I think we are going to be able to film the test for virtual judging again soon and I’m excited! We are getting better all the time and Griffin was such a good boy. Thank you so much for putting up with me buddy, I know you don’t understand why I do these crazy dressage tests. I appreciate you so much 😊❤️🐴🇺🇸 . I will put the whole video of us riding up soon. . #equinepartner #equinepartnership #dressage #paradressage #dressagetest #dressageteam #fyp #photooftheday #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #trusttheprocess #enjoythejourney #usef #adultamateur #chasingdreams #breakingbarriers #littlesteps #sponsoredrider #troxelhelmets #troxelshare #kerritseq #kerritsrootd #neverknockgoods #cerebralpalsy #disabledathlete #strongereveryday #goodboy #aspiringparalympian (at Quantum Leap Farm, Inc.) https://www.instagram.com/p/CcjsjqYMKsM/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Oct 9, 2021: “All equestrians, if they last long enough, learn that riding in whatever form is a lifelong sport and art, an endeavor that is both familiar and new every time you take your horse out of the pasture.” - Jane Smiley . I had a great lesson with Shane yesterday. We worked on diagonals, a half circle serpentine, and 10 m circles to prepare for filming for virtual judging again, and boy was it a workout! . Shane did as well as he could with my directions, I know I’m still holding him back. I still struggle with relaxing my shoulders, and bending my elbows so that my arms can come down. But, I’m learning every day and doing my best to be better. I’m so excited to be able to record the test again after a little more practice. Thanks for being such a good partner Shaner buddy ❤️🐴😊🇺🇸 . Feb 18th, 2021: Horses never fail to make me smile, no matter what else is going on in my world. I have other things I like to do, but none of those things compare to the precious two hours a week I have with horses ❤️ . Cappy and I had a great ride today after the crappy weather on Thursday prevented us from working together. We worked on more balance and body awareness exercises then. The focus of today’s lesson was to try to return to the same feeling of relaxation and flow that I had last week. Today was a bit tougher as I have been sitting more than usual at home due to having extra computer work. So my hip flexors were tighter than usual. Despite this, we both did so well and I’m so proud of us. Aside from relaxation and balance, I got to try some more rein work today, and I feel like I am getting better with it each time. Mrs.Lisa and Nina came up with a cool method to teach me how to lead Cappy that feels like a combination of leading and neck rein. I have to get used to it but I’m sure we’ll be riding circles around the arena in no time ♥️🐴😊🇺🇸 . P.S Cappy got clipped! Look how cute he looks! . #horse #horses #horselove #jointhejoy #timeisprecious #enjoythejourney #enjoythemoment #progressnotperfection #trusttheprocess #photooftheday #explorepage #usef #adultamateur #troxelhelmets #troxelshare #sponsorship #sponsoredrider #cappy #goodboy #dream #dreamer #chasingdreams #strongereveryday #thefutureisbright #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #breakingbarriers #dowhatyoulove #hardwork #cerebralpalsy #aspiringparalympian https://www.instagram.com/p/CLc4rs3HP9Y/?igshid=1hdeqrk2a8067

Feb 12, 2020: Yesterday Cappy and I had a super fun ride! It was honestly one of the most relaxing rides I had in a long time, probably because I wasn’t so lasered in on being perfect or doing things right. I also paid more attention to my breathing and could correct my body more quickly thanks to the rhythm training from last time. Towards the end we also practiced some more rein stuff, so hopefully I will go back to learning how to direct Cappy with the looped reins soon. I hope that I can maintain this level of relaxation in all my rides, as it will be so helpful. My seat and legs are staying more consistent and I’m so pleased with our work. . I was supposed to have a dressage lesson today with Shane to go over the comments from Grade 1 Novice Test A, but it was canceled due to a bad thunderstorm. I miss my Shaners but I know will be back at it soon. Today hasn’t been the best day for a lot of reasons, but I’m doing my best to stay positive and not dwell on it. A bad day doesn’t equal a bad life. I’m choosing to focus on the good 😊❤️🐴🇺🇸 . #positivity #thinkpositive #relaxation #celebratethelittlethings #progressnotperfection #trusttheprocess #enjoythejourney #photooftheday #explorepage #troxelhelmets #troxelshare #sponsorship #sponsoredrider #usef #adultamateur #dressage #paradressage #equestrian #paraequestrian #strongereveryday #breakingbarriers #dreambig #dreamer #chasingdreams #cappy #goodboy #welshxtb #cerebralpalsy #aspiringparalympian (at Emerald M Therapeutic Riding Center) https://www.instagram.com/p/CLQBxrunnJt/?igshid=12t15q9oysb8z

“Horses lend us the wings we lack” - Pam Brown I got to ride Cappy independently today! It was a blast and I can’t wait to do it again! It was way easier than the first time I tried it and that made me so happy. Cappy was such a happy boy and had floppy ears the whole time I was guiding him around 😊 If at first you don’t succeed try again! I even managed to remember to use my elbows when asking him to halt and he did. I’m so proud of myself for not giving up when using the reins in a different way was hard. Look at us now! Soon we’ll be riding circles around everyone and having the best time ❤️😊🇺🇸🐴 . I’m wearing my @kerritseq Willow Ice Fil Top and Juniper Ice Fil Tights just in time for #cpawarenessday tomorrow. Don’t forget to wear green and #gogreenforcp for all the CP warriors out there, and be on the lookout for more CP awareness goodness from me 💚💚💚 . #try #dontgiveup #dontquit #trustyourself #trusttheprocess #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #independence #explorepage #photooftheday #horses #dressage #paradressage #equestrian #paraequestrian #troxelhelmets #troxelshare #sponsoredrider #kerritseq #kerritsrootd #usef #adultamateur #chasingdreams #breakingbarriers #strongereveryday #hardworkpaysoff #cerebralpalsy #aspiringparalympian #la2028 (at Emerald M Therapeutic Riding Center) https://www.instagram.com/p/CM0Q6oJnQU5/?igshid=1vfxywkm631xx

Feb 3, 2020: Hi everyone! Hope you’re doing well! I had a great lesson today! Even though it was too cold for me to ride Cappy, I got to do some exciting things that will help me be a better rider for both my horses. Mrs. Lisa and Nina thought it was be a good idea to have me sit on an exercise ball, as it simulates the horse and provides similar feedback because it reacts to any slight changes in position. By doing this exercise, I gained even more body awareness and understanding of the things I need to get my body to do to ride well. It was both mentally and physically exhausting because of the constant conversation I had to have with my muscular and nervous system to get my body to correct itself. This is one of the drawbacks of CP that occurs because my brain and my nervous system don’t connect well. However, the challenge was good and I know that I will only improve with more practice. Every day with Shane and Cappy I learn more about the art of horsemanship. It is not just riding a horse, but learning to really know yourself and your equine partner so that you can be at your full potential. I’m going to keep working to improve my body with Cappy, and use the comments that I got from my test with Shane to practice and be even better for our next performance. The reason why I want to be an equestrian athlete is not for the glory and the ribbons, and superficial things. It is to showcase the beautiful connection I have with my horse, for us to enjoy something together and make memories, and to represent my country with pride. I know that I am setting myself up the right way and putting in the hard work to get there, and it’s going to be so worth it. 😊❤️🐴🇺🇸 . #horsemanship #onedayatatime #trusttheprocess #trustyourself #progressnotperfection #explorepage #photooftheday #horses #equestrian #paraequestrian #hardwork #dressage #paradressage #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #thefutureisbright #usef #adultamateur #troxelhelmets #troxelshare #sponsored-rider #strongereveryday #enjoythejourney #breakingbarriers #cerebralpalsy #aspiringparalympian (at Emerald M Therapeutic Riding Center) https://www.instagram.com/p/CK2KQDJnAUU/?igshid=1jjouuiajphge

May 7th, 2021: “There’s nothing better than putting your arms around your horse’s neck, feeling their warmth against yours, and letting them know that you love them with all your heart” - Me 😊 . For the longest time, I couldn’t hug a horse like this from the saddle because going down that far was really painful for me. Biking has really helped to loosen my hips and now I can give Shane and Cappy even more love which makes me so happy ❤️ . I had a really good lesson today! I practiced some independent riding and then Mrs. Lisa had me practice turning my head while keeping my body centered. Usually, when I move my head, my body wants to come with it so I need to learn to separate my head movement from my body so that my horses can better understand where I want them to go. That will help me ride better and allow us to reach other milestones easier. I tried my best to keep my arms relaxed while riding him today, but they still need some work. Cappy was such a good boy and did his very best. I think I’m going to make a new tradition of hugging him at the end of every lesson because it’s soothing for both of us 😊. I can’t wait to see Shane tomorrow and give him a hug too 😊❤️🐴🇺🇸 . #horseylove #horseyhugs #loveyourhorse #horselover #horses #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #progressnotperfection #equestrian #paraequestrian #dressage #paradressage #usef #adultamateur #explorepage #photooftheday #iloveyou #trusttheprocess #enjoythejourney #strongereveryday #chaseyourdreams #troxelhelmets #troxelshare #neverknockgoods #myariat #kerritseq #kerritsrootd #cerebralpalsy #aspiringparalympian #la2028 #iamusequestrian (at Emerald M Therapeutic Riding Center) https://www.instagram.com/p/COlaBn1HOBT/?igshid=ic5p3ucb93fs

March 19th,2020: We did it! Cappy and I filmed our video today for the @littlebit_trc Virtual Dressage Show! I’m so grateful to Mrs. Lisa and Nina for allowing me to enter and for everyone who helped out today! I couldn’t have done it without you! I found that I was really nervous when we first started filming, but by the second take everything was fabulous! I learned so much today and hope to use my new knowledge as I continue to perform. It’s amazing just how much changes in feelings affect my body and how I am able to sit on my horse! I’m planning on entering more shows later this year and riding independently! Cappy was such a star and the most perfect little show pony! I was so blessed to be able to have him as my partner today. It was such an emotional, amazing day and I know that this is just the very beginning of so many wonderful experiences on my journey to the 2028 Paralympics. Today i was reminded just how much I love to perform and I can’t wait to see where we ho next! . #cpawarenessmonth Sometimes with my CP, I find it difficult to appreciate my body as it is. When I’m on a horse, I forget about the limitations I have and feel like the greatest athlete ever. They have touched my life like nothing else. . Feb 24,2021: They say to never give up on something you can’t go a day without thinking about. For me, that thing is horses ❤️ . Cappy and I had another fantastic lesson today! Before I mounted we did our usual standing exercises, but I also did some balance exercises on a Dynadisc to wake up my core muscles. Little did I know that this tiny addition to our routine would make such a huge difference! Because my core already knew its job from the unmounted exercises, I felt much more secure and relaxed than normal, and was able to find my center faster. This was the first lesson since I started riding Cappy that I didn’t find myself constantly reaching for the surcingle handles for support when I became unbalanced in any way. This is absolutely HUGE progress for someone like me who typically relies on her hands and arms for everything! My balance was so good that I got to try leading Cappy with the reins more today and he listened so well. I’m getting much better with communicating with him and giving the right cues too. Right now, we are only looking for small but proper responses, so I am learning the right moment where I should release pressure to reward Cappy. Oh did I mention that I am doing all this with only a halter and bareback pad? Yup, no tack here yet! . I’m absolutely blown away at how much progress Cappy and I made with just a small change today! He was so amazing and I brought peppermints to give him as a special treat. Younger me would be shocked at what I have been able to do. Every day in the saddle leaves me more and more optimistic and hopeful about my future in Paradressage ♥️😊🐴🇺🇸 . #littlechangesbigresults #enjoythejourney #trusttheprocess #progressnotperfection #progress #balance #stability #horses #equestrian #paraequestrian #dressage #paradressage #explorepage #photooftheday #believeinyourself #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #strongereveryday #chasingdreams #usef #adultamateur #troxelhelmets #troxelshare #sponsoredrider #breakingbarriers #jointhejoy #cappy #goodboy #littlevictories #cerebralpalsy #aspiringparalympian (at Emerald M Therapeutic Riding Center) https://www.instagram.com/p/CLsjlWyHKqP/?igshid=j1oflw8np673

March 17th, 2021: “Take pride in how far you have come and have faith in how far you can go.” . When I’m riding, I often forget to smile because I am so focused on what I am doing. So I’m going to challenge myself to express my happiness outwardly more often, just like I am in this picture, and just like the quote says it is important to pat ourselves on the back for all that we have done and believe that we can achieve our wildest dreams and beyond. . Cappy and I got to rehearse our test for the @littlebit_trc virtual dressage show in a 20 x 40 arena today and it went awesome! Cappy was such a good boy and I’m especially proud that I got our halts right on the mark 😊 I’m so pumped to film our test on Friday and I’m excited to show you guys what we look like all dressed up! I’m going to practice using my elbows more at home before Friday, but other than that I feel confident that we’re going to do really well. This is just the beginning of so many more shows and tests to come and I’m really looking forward to the future ❤️🐴😊🇺🇸 . #cpawarenessmonth because my CP makes it difficult to walk, I often spend most of the day in my wheelchair because it’s how I get around and get things done. I love my chair, but sometimes I want to experience the world a different way. Horses give me that opportunity. They give me freedom and a chance to see things from another perspective. With them I feel like I can go anywhere and do anything, and I’m endlessly grateful to have them in my life. . #horseshowing #horseshow #virtualshow #dressageshow #smilemore #smile #havefaith #progressnotperfection #trustyourself #beconfident #fyp #explorepage #photooftheday #usef #adultamateur #dressage #paradressage #equestrian #paraequestrian #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #thefutureisbright #chasingdreams #breakingbarriers #troxelhelmets #troxelshare #sponsoredrider #kerritseq #cerebralpalsy #aspiringparalympian (at Emerald M Therapeutic Riding Center) https://www.instagram.com/p/CMh_BRwHBMA/?igshid=dlj2bdercy2d

April 14th, 2021: “Our hoofbeats were many, but our hearts beat as one”- Unknown . Cappy and I got to take a picture with our blue ribbon from the @littlebit_trc show today! I’m so thankful to everyone who helped us achieve this and so grateful to have the opportunities that I so with Cappy. This ribbon holds a special place in my heart because it has inspired me to keep going and not give up on my dreams. It is more than just a blue decoration, it means that my dreams are possible. . I have been working very hard to be a better rider for Cappy in our independent riding sessions by building endurance and strength through bike riding and other exercises at home, and that work has been paying off! Today I found it much easier to sit forward so that my hands could come down, and I could tolerate riding in the heat for longer than usual. Tracking left was also way easier than last lesson and I felt more confident in what I was doing. The right was smooth sailing as usual. I need to work on keeping the whips even while holding the reins, because when we were tracking left i kept holding it in such a way that mede Cappy want to move right instead of stay close to the rail. So, we are going to be doing @equicizer work next lesson to help me with that and work on some other important things as well! Next week I’ll be riding Cappy in a regular bareback pad and I’m super excited to give it a try! I’m so ready, and I know it’s one step closer to being able to ride in my favorite dressage tack! I’m enjoying the journey with Shane and Cappy so much, even through my doubts and worries that surface sometimes, and I know that we’ll make it together as a team 😊❤️🐴🇺🇸 . #team #teamwork #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #partnership #horsemanship #usef #adultamateur #dressage #paradressage #equestrian #paraequestrian #horses #explorepage #photooftheday #fyp #enjoythejourney #trusttheprocess #strongereveryday #thefutureisbright #troxelhelmets #troxelshare #sponsoredrider #ariat #myariat #kerritseq #chasingdreams #blueribbon #strongereveryday #cerebralpalsy #aspiringparalympian #la2028 (at Emerald M Therapeutic Riding Center) https://www.instagram.com/p/CNqKlc3nnVe/?igshid=1w1p37ctn47nx

April 5th, 2021: “Some people dream of success, others wake up and work hard at it.”- Clinton Anderson . Cappy and I had a great lesson today! It was really hot so we couldn’t be working for too long, but what we did get out was awesome 😊 We practiced our independent riding and my personal goal today was to guide Cappy around without looking down and I did it! I also didn’t get nervous when Cappy wanted to veer off somewhere else and both of these things together made our ride great and helped Cappy be more comfortable with me! I’m so happy with how it went and I’m hoping that I can ride without sidewalkers really soon because that would open up so many doors for us, but even if it doesn’t happen yet I’m still so excited for the rest of my lessons this week! My next personal goal is to release the tension in my arms and shoulders so I can follow Cappy’s movement better. Although I’m not balancing with my arms anymore my body needs to be as fluid as I can make it for my horses. I love them so much and I can’t wait to see where we go next 😊♥️🐴🇺🇸 . P.S Prior to the taking of this photo Cappy decided my arm was a tasty snack 😂 No worries I’m not hurt, just wanted to show that everything isn’t always as perfect as it seems 😊. March 13th, 2021:”Trying to do it all and expecting that it all can be done exactly right is a recipe for disappointment.”- Cheryl Sandberg . Yesterday Shane I Were working on FEI Grade 1 Novice Test A again because I want to try to refilm it for virtual judging sometime In April or May. After my lesson I spent a great deal of time looking at this picture in particular and scrutinizing the way I looked in the saddle. I should have sat forward a tiny bit more and bent my elbows so that my arms would be in a more comfortable place and I could ride better and get Shane more forward etc . I was upset with myself because I was not focused enough on what my body was doing because I was paying attention to the test. But the quote above and a really nice person reminded me that we can’t have it all perfect, especially when there is so much to focus on. So instead, I will say that I am so proud of both of us for getting the figures in the test more correct even with obstacles in the way. I’m proud that we both tried our best. I can always place more focus on my seat and position next time. . I will never stop giving 110% every day, because that is more important than being perfect. I will never stop loving and praising the horses I work with even if we could have done better. I will never stop believing in myself and going down this path even though it is difficult. I want to have a positive influence on this sport and the people in it, because it means so much to me, and I have faith that I will go far. I know that those of you out there who are doubting yourself are meant for great things. Please don’t give up, I believe in you. . #progressnotperfection #progress #dontgiveup #keeptrying #believeinyourself #trusttheprocess #enjoythejourney #explorepage #photooftheday #fyp #usef #adultamateur #dressage #paradressage #equestrian #paraequestrian #horses #myariat #kerritseq #troxelhelmets #troxelshare #sponsoredrider #strongereveryday #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #thefutureisbright #dontstopbelieving #cerebralpalsy #aspiringparalympian (at Quantum Leap Farm, Inc.) https://www.instagram.com/p/CMZ0dyXHKDP/?igshid=1jabppbvikfs5

April 9th, 2020: “ I am his eyes. He is my wings. I am his voice. He is my spirit. I am his human. He is my horse.” . Cappy and I had a great lesson today practicing our communication with each other and independent riding with two whips! Eventually I will use just one 😊 We had an efficient and effective warm up we started off by tracking right which went as well as Wednesday! I have a harder time tracking left so we went that way too. I definitely still need to work on it because it is my weaker side. Cappy is a terrific teacher and he is helping me overcome my tendency to stop instead of encouraging him forward if we miscommunicate, especially while tracking left. If you end up getting off track, it is always better to keep the momentum going and find your way back. After a few tries, I succeeded in getting him more out towards the rail and going at a steady pace, which is what you see in the video. Yes, he could be more forward but I’m so proud of myself for sticking with Cappy when I could have just given up. Being persistent and patient is so important when riding. Thank you sweet boy for helping me learn so much today. We have been growing so much and I’m excited to see what the future holds. 😊❤️🐴🇺🇸 . I also got to take some fun pictures with my friend @bri_4250 today! Bri rides Rambo at Emerald M and also has CP! She is so sweet and I love spending time with her and getting to know her ❤️ . March 31st, 2020: “There are things that a horse did for me that a human couldn’t have done.”- Buck Brannaman . Horses give me the strength to deal with the challenges of daily life. Just looking at one melts all my worries away, even if it’s just a picture and I’m not physically there. I know that my horses are helping me learn and grow into a better athlete and a better person, along with the wonderful people I am connected to through them. . Cappy and I had a great lesson on Wednesday working on independent riding! I also practiced the proper way to steer for turns so that my body doesn’t collapse through them, and I don’t drag my horse through turns as a result. We both did so well and I am very proud of us! . I also got the chance to take over the @kerritseq Instagram for the last day of #cpawarenessmonth ! Go check it out by going to the highlight Bryanna + CP on their page! It would mean a lot to me ❤️ I share a lot of good information about CP and how ableism (the favoring of the able bodied) affects disabled equestrians ability to fully participate in the horse industry. . #strength #horses #trusttheprocess #believeinyourself #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #independence #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #thefutureisbright #explorepage #photooftheday #fyp #usef #adultamateur #dressage #paradressage #equestrian #paraequestrian #chasingdreams #breakingbarriers #kerritseq #myariat #troxelhelmets #sponsoredrider #troxelshare #disability #cerebralpalsy #aspiringparalympian #la2028 (at Emerald M Therapeutic Riding Center) https://www.instagram.com/p/CNKsAx1nw0B/?igshid=1ntu54n0c7g2o

March 27, 2021: “Offer them respect, earn their trust, build a relationship, rejoice in the love, become a team.”- Unknown . Shane and I had a fantastic lesson and lots of time together today. We were able to go through FEI Grade 1 Novice Test A twice, and I’m getting so much better at the half circles down centerline! My legs were also super relaxed and it was fun to get to try it all in a halter instead of a bridle today 😊 After we were done with the test we had enough time to go down the driveway for a break and change of scenery and Shane really enjoyed it! There’s lots of video of us outside if you scroll through 😊 With all the people that come for lessons it’s rare that we get to be together this much, so I had such a blast. Being able to ride Shane outside with someone clipped on was also huge for me because it gave me confidence that I’ll be able to go on trail rides with my friends in the future which is something I have wanted to do since my childhood ♥️ You were a star today Shaners, this is one of the best days I’ve had with you in a long time and I’m so grateful to have you as a partner 😊🇺🇸♥️🐴 . Shane and I are looking to enter a virtual show together in mid April and go through the test again for the USEF/ USPEA virtual judging program in May. And of course I am going to keep working on riding Cappy independently and enter more shows with him later this year. I love showing because it is a chance for me to showcase the partnerships I have with my equine partners. . #horsemanship #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #equinepartner #trustyourself #enjoythejourney #haveconfidence #believeinyourself #horses #strongereveryday #fyp #explorepage #photooftheday #usef #adultamateur #equestrian #paraequestrian #dressage #paradressagerider #paradressage #thefutureisbright #lovingeveryminute #lovingit #chasingdreams #troxelhelmets #troxelshare #kerritsrootd #kerritseq #myariat #cerebralpalsy #aspiringparalympian (at Quantum Leap Farm, Inc.) https://www.instagram.com/p/CM7rMS4nK-q/?igshid=1j0b06krcerii
