#GPRepost, #reposter, #notetag @cur8able via @GPRepostApp ======> March is #cpawarenessmonth but it's important to reflect on what awareness looks like when trying to fight against oppression. Like the quote in the image above says, "Awareness isn't about sharing a meme or liking a status. Awareness means listening to, and elevating the voices of marginalized people." Awareness should never be about pity, but always focused on empowerment. That's what #awarenessmeans to me as a disabled woman @khitselberger What does real awareness look like to you? Love this guy so much. Posted @withrepost • @yourcpf @theandrewgurza is a Disability Awareness Consultant and the work he does is immensely important. He’s changing the conversation about disability issues and created the viral hashtag #DisabledPeopleAreHot. Thousands of people submitted sexy photos of themselves feeling confident in their disabled bodies. Andrew is not afraid to rock a harness naked and wants to change perceptions about disabled bodies, spread body positivity and break down gender biases. My very first art piece I did for Cerebral Palsy Awareness, inspired by @charisselwcp and this was just just the beginning. I would not only create other art pieces, but also make new friends who also spread awareness for Cerebral Palsy. Even used one of my designs for their first T-shirt @cp_dreamteam . Even though my artwork has improved, I am still very proud of the one that started it all.

March 3rd, 2021: “My goal with the horse is not to beat someone; it’s to win within myself. To do the best job I can do and then tomorrow try to do better.” - Ray Hunt . Cappy and I had a fantastic lesson today! My body felt amazing and I am settling into the proper seat faster and feel much more relaxed when riding in general. I always grew up watching riders with the most perfect elastic flowing movement, following their horse. My body is finally starting to do this too and its amazing to see. I never thought I would be able to achieve this because of my disability. I also got to practice using the reins with Cappy again today and I’m getting better with it all the time! Cappy was such a good boy and I’m so proud of both of us today! 😊🇺🇸❤️🐴. . In other fun news Cappy and I are going to be entering in the @littlebit_trc Spring 2021 Virtual Dressage show! I’m really looking forward to it and this is going to be a great stepping stone while Shane and I continue to perfect FEI Novice Test A together. I also hope to re-enter in the USEF virtual judging program later this year! . March is #cpawarenessmonth and I wanted to take a moment to express how much horses have changed my life as at first a late adolescent and now a young adult living with Cerebral Palsy. This disability is prominently characterized by an inability to relax the muscles due to high tone as a result brain damage. Horses have drastically improved the way my body functions and have allowed me to feel more comfortable in it. I remember before I started riding I would spend some days feeling like my body was completely locked and tense. The natural input from the horses movement is an instant muscle relaxer. This is one of many reasons why #equineassistedtherapy is so important for people with disabilities. I will speak more on other benefits horses have provided me in later posts this month. If you made it this far in the post, thank you, I appreciate you ❤️ I hope you are doing well and I’m sending hugs. . #cpawareness #cpawarenessmonth #cpstrong #cpwarrior #progressnotperfection #jointhejoy #enjoythejourney #trusttheprocess #explorepage #photooftheday #horses #horse #equestrian (at Emerald M Therapeutic Riding Center) https://www.instagram.com/p/CL-RIChnjkv/?igshid=191citw65o7wl

March 17th, 2021: “Take pride in how far you have come and have faith in how far you can go.” . When I’m riding, I often forget to smile because I am so focused on what I am doing. So I’m going to challenge myself to express my happiness outwardly more often, just like I am in this picture, and just like the quote says it is important to pat ourselves on the back for all that we have done and believe that we can achieve our wildest dreams and beyond. . Cappy and I got to rehearse our test for the @littlebit_trc virtual dressage show in a 20 x 40 arena today and it went awesome! Cappy was such a good boy and I’m especially proud that I got our halts right on the mark 😊 I’m so pumped to film our test on Friday and I’m excited to show you guys what we look like all dressed up! I’m going to practice using my elbows more at home before Friday, but other than that I feel confident that we’re going to do really well. This is just the beginning of so many more shows and tests to come and I’m really looking forward to the future ❤️🐴😊🇺🇸 . #cpawarenessmonth because my CP makes it difficult to walk, I often spend most of the day in my wheelchair because it’s how I get around and get things done. I love my chair, but sometimes I want to experience the world a different way. Horses give me that opportunity. They give me freedom and a chance to see things from another perspective. With them I feel like I can go anywhere and do anything, and I’m endlessly grateful to have them in my life. . #horseshowing #horseshow #virtualshow #dressageshow #smilemore #smile #havefaith #progressnotperfection #trustyourself #beconfident #fyp #explorepage #photooftheday #usef #adultamateur #dressage #paradressage #equestrian #paraequestrian #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #thefutureisbright #chasingdreams #breakingbarriers #troxelhelmets #troxelshare #sponsoredrider #kerritseq #cerebralpalsy #aspiringparalympian (at Emerald M Therapeutic Riding Center) https://www.instagram.com/p/CMh_BRwHBMA/?igshid=dlj2bdercy2d

March 10, 2021: What you think about every day is what you end up manifesting . This is so true. There is not a day that goes by when I do not think about horses, my goals with them,or ways that I can share my truth as a disabled equestrian with others so that they can see the diversity that exists in the horse industry. More and more positive things have been happening because I changed my mindset and chose to believe that I am capable and worthy of greatness regardless of what my inner voice wants to say. . Today’s lesson was so groundbreaking for me. It was hard to really express all that I was feeling in the moment because there was so much to take in. Cappy and I worked on the 10 meter circles, diagonals, and halts for the Little Bit Dressage Show, and boy did I feel empowered and excited by the end. I’m finally understanding how to guide Cappy correctly with the reins and doing it consistently so that he can understand what I’m asking, my body was moving with Cappy and I was using my core and seat to adjust when I felt off balance instead of pulling on the reins, and I’m more aware of my body in general which matters so much no matter what. I’m so proud of us. . I have changed so much in a span of about 4 months or so. I actually felt like I had won this huge championship. It turns out that sometimes the chances you are most nervous to take are the ones that impact you the most. I feel so much stronger and more confident on both Shane and Cappy than I have in a long time. With the staff and horses at Emerald M and Quantum Leap cheering me on and helping me out, I know that I can achieve anything 😊❤️🇺🇸🐴 . #cpawarenessmonth As a person with cerebral palsy, I am often reminded of things that I shouldn’t do, or can’t do because of my disability. I know this world wasn’t built with me in mind, but I do my best to thrive in it anyway. Horses have always been my number one source of comfort and empowerment and I’m so grateful to have the time with them that I do . #progressnotperfection #empowerment #empowering #positivity #positiveenergy #horses #trusttheprocess #paraequestrian #believeinyourself #teamworkmakesthedreamwork (at Emerald M Therapeutic Riding Center) https://www.instagram.com/p/CMQM-CmHr_e/?igshid=1gjy8390vtuyv

March 31st, 2020: “There are things that a horse did for me that a human couldn’t have done.”- Buck Brannaman . Horses give me the strength to deal with the challenges of daily life. Just looking at one melts all my worries away, even if it’s just a picture and I’m not physically there. I know that my horses are helping me learn and grow into a better athlete and a better person, along with the wonderful people I am connected to through them. . Cappy and I had a great lesson on Wednesday working on independent riding! I also practiced the proper way to steer for turns so that my body doesn’t collapse through them, and I don’t drag my horse through turns as a result. We both did so well and I am very proud of us! . I also got the chance to take over the @kerritseq Instagram for the last day of #cpawarenessmonth ! Go check it out by going to the highlight Bryanna + CP on their page! It would mean a lot to me ❤️ I share a lot of good information about CP and how ableism (the favoring of the able bodied) affects disabled equestrians ability to fully participate in the horse industry. . #strength #horses #trusttheprocess #believeinyourself #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #independence #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #thefutureisbright #explorepage #photooftheday #fyp #usef #adultamateur #dressage #paradressage #equestrian #paraequestrian #chasingdreams #breakingbarriers #kerritseq #myariat #troxelhelmets #sponsoredrider #troxelshare #disability #cerebralpalsy #aspiringparalympian #la2028 (at Emerald M Therapeutic Riding Center) https://www.instagram.com/p/CNKsAx1nw0B/?igshid=1ntu54n0c7g2o
