Beginning Sound Design

I’m currently in the early stages of experimenting with sound design in the game. I envisioned the game having a very synth-heavy soundtrack to go with the futuristic “Tronesque” aesthetic. Fortunately I just so happen to own an actual analog synthesizer, as depicted below. I’m using this to record audio, and then processing the sound effects further in Ableton Live.

So far I have created and implemented sound effects for:

Reorienting gravity (sounds like “waaeeoow”)

Falling (basically filtered noise that gets louder as the player falls faster)

Death (sounds like a robot dying)

For more diegetic sounds, such as footsteps, balls rolling, etc. I plan on using a Tascam recorder to record samples.
