interview — The Avid Indoorsmen podcast — Movie Game Night with VoicePlay!
[Spotify] ● [Apple Podcasts] ● [Podbean] ● [iHeartRadio]
Long before much of the world was forced to hunker down in their homes, there were indoor kids. But even those of us who prefer to stay at home and amuse ourselves need to interact with other humans sometimes. Join hosts Rob and Buegs, and their buddies from VoicePlay for some socially distanced movie trivia games and lighthearted banter.
Details:
title: The Avid Indoorsmen — Movie Game Night #7 — VoicePlay!
hosts: Rob Lundquist & Eric "Buegs" Buegler
guests: Geoff Castellucci, Layne Stein, J.None, & Eli Jacobson from VoicePlay
release date: 3 September 2020
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Trivia:
This podcast was half of a two-part collaboration. The other half is the "Aca Top 10 – Movie Themes" video featuring Rob that VoicePlay released the next day.
The first two Movie Game Night episodes earlier in the year featured Rob's Home Free bandmate Tim Foust, and Seggie Isho from Straight No Chaser.
Their guests for the next Movie Game Night a month later were the guys' fellow Sing-Off alumni The Filharmonic, who were on the 2014 tour with Home Free and VoicePlay.

TRIVIA GAMES
So, in the days leading up to the release of BELIEVE IN ME, I'll be posting daily trivia games on Facebook and Instagram. I'm also offering the option of having the games emailed to you, because I know some people aren't on either of those platforms, and you can respond with your answers!
If you're interested just DM your email address and I'll add you to the list for those!
How it works:
There will be a daily winner (who will get a cross-stitched bookmark), and a grand prize winner (whoever gets the most overall correct answers from all the games gets a signed G&L paperback trilogy and a bookmark). The daily winner can be from anywhere in the world; the grand prize winner will need to be in the US because shipping is so prohibitive).

Videogames I wish were real #38
A trivia game where the questions are all about queer stuff. There's categories about history, famous people (artists, writers, scientists, activists), landmark legal victories, pride flags, memes, queer culture, books, movies, music (including Eurovision), slang and much more. Instead of racecars and top hats each player can pick a pride flag as their token. You can also choose to play by teams. The teams are "Can't cook", "Can't drive" and "Can't do math"

I HATE trivia games because the questions are always about "general" knowledge, "popular" culture, and "important" historical events and never about the random specific facts that i known.
Like where is the question about whether the potato is the root, the stem, or the fruit of the plant? I will never be able to say that unlike popular belief, the potato, even though it is buried underground, is the stem and NOT the root of the plant. 😔

Trivia Game
Ah, trivia games. They're not for everyone, but I love 'em. I designed the game screen myself, basing it on those cheaply made trivia games that were probably made by one person. You know the kind I'm talking about.
Anyway, if you guys wouldn't mind, could you ignore that Summer is completely off-model in panel 5? I'm not proud of it and I'll be the first to admit my art style is flawed because of issues like these. It also didn't help that I smoked some pot a few hours before drawing this. I'll try not to make a habit of that.
Either way, I love them working like a team in this. Something about Penny knowing that she needed Summer to massage her brain to remember the answer just tickles the comedy part of my brain. It felt very Simpsons-y

I'm just gonna post these here! Drop me a comment with answers if you want!
(reminder, the person who gets the most questions right gets a cross-stitch bookmark and the US-residing person who gets the most overall correct in all the games gets a bookmark AND a paperback set of the G&L books!)

I don't know if anybody else out there goes to bars and/or restaurants to play trivia, but I get together with a couple of friends on Monday nights at a local bar/restaurant to play, and I have fun flexing my knowledge, though it can get discouraging to miss a lot of questions.
One thing that gets me, though, is that there are like three teams who play there regularly, and they have a lot of teachers among their ranks and are extremely good. I don't know if it's because I had a bad time at school or if it's the heavy metal rebel in me, but when I play against any of those teams, I don't just want to do my best, I want to CRUSH them like an empty aluminum can.
