Oops I wrote a whole response in the tags. Let me bring some of it up here.

So Corcra is in the book for like five minutes but she is the Stepmom of All Time. She helped Pat get away from his ex-wife who was...fine with their kid (I guess I'll call him Mick?) but very abusive to him. I think Mick is like ten now, partly because Spinder had a favorite ten-year-old nephew in Old Canon and I want to recreate that energy. He would totally be embarrassed about the bracelet if he didn't adore Corcra. He's still a little embarrassed about it whenever Corcra has one of her occasional TV appearances and she gets asked about it.

By now she has transforming with the bracelet down. Her canid form is a black fox and when she's transforming she shoves the bracelet up her arm so it doesn't fall off (that took some practice). And then she and Mick go run around in the yard for like five hours. (I think schools start late on Antarac so it's not an issue. And even if it was there's like shifter passes that let you skip the day after the full moon and he could probably get one even though he's human. Nothing gets done on the day after the full moon lol. It's just movie in class day.)

Anyway when I figure out the aesthetics of how Corcra & Pat & Mick show up in Nicea ("goodbye thank you for staying at our hotel what will we do without you little freeloaders (affectionate)") I will share it on here and tag you.

Okay actually it turns out I wasn't done thinking about Cheryl's bracelet, and in fact I would like to borrow that idea?

Maybe shifters in Nicea have a bracelet or bracelet equivalent so that non-shifters can identify their loved ones during That Time, especially on shifter-heavy planets. But most importantly Spinder's older adopted brother Pat, the one married to the shifter heiress? He has a kid from his previous marriage who I feel like has to have made a craft bracelet for his stepmom for identification purposes. And she's like kind of a big deal businesswoman and also looks like a 1930s film star but she never takes off this cute janky bracelet made by a five-year-old.

Hi oh my god I’m so [explodes into hearts] ANYWAY Cheryl’s bracelet is like. One of my Favorite Tiny Details and I’m so??? Honored??? I love the idea of someone who changes form still keeping Something Distinct that identifies them as Them and I may or may not be crying about Fancy Lady Who Loves Her Stepkid So Much She Wears His Gift All The Time Even If It Clashes With Her Outfit.

Because it’s not just the identity aspect of it — it’s such a small detail that speaks VOLUMES about their relationship, especially as The Stepmom isn’t always the most accommodating of Someone Else’s Offspring. Dillon calls her mom Cheryl post-divorce, and Cheryl doesn’t love her any less for it, and she still wears the dinky little bracelet her baby dilly pickle made the year she begged and begged to go to summer camp ‘like the kids on tv’ and ended up writing home so many letters with the voice of a soldier sent off to The Great War about how she just missed her mom and Daisy (but that she would be brave and valiant and stick it out, because the Monroe girls don’t back down from a challenge) and returned home with Many Gifts (things she made at craft time) from her Expedition (two hours away).

Anyway, the Court rules in favor of the Petitioner in the amount of Supports This Idea So Much dollars and Please Send Me The Link When You Write It cents, case adjourned.

Any recs where the hero just takes care of the heroine? Like very Daddy in acts of service and what not doesn’t necessarily need to contain the kink explicitly but just one of those strong men who love to take care of their women?

But beyond that, I would say:

How to End a Love Story by Yulin Kuang in that the hero is generally very much a caretaker in a very REAL man way, but also because there was a scene where he parallel parked for her and she got so hot over it and I did too

A Jingle Bell Mingle by Sierra Simone and Julie Murphy! The hero is very much a caretaker (while also being an emotionally messy widower). The heroine has ADHD (which I found well-done) and he initially pulls her into his Christmas mansion because she has nowhere to stay. I'd say they take care of each other, but it's definitely there.

Kate Clayborn heroes often come through on this level—I'd definitely recommend The Other Side of Disappearing has as strong (physically and emotionally) caretaker hero.

Kylie Scott heroes!!!! Omg. The Last Days of Lilah Goodluck has a heroine who's kind of messy and a hero who's kinda grumpy and buys her clothes with his black card and is like "SETTLE," which I love. End of Story has another somewhat surly hero who arrives to help the heroine work on her house, which... And then Deep is an oops baby book wherein the hero initially has a hard time with the news (lmao) but one he straightens up he's very authoritative about caring for the heroine.

Act Your Age by Eve Dangerfield, obviously. Which DOES have them roleplay, but also has the lighter, more everyday stuff. And a big age gap.

If you're open to something on the darker side with MMF, I will once again recommend the ongoing Lyonesse series by Sierra Simone. Because all of Sierra's dom heroes take care of their partners, but Mark Trevena, for all that he's a ~villain in many ways, is suuuuch a caretaker. He's strict about aftercare, he cooks for Tristan and Isolde, there's the scene where he helps Isolde into her wedding shoes, there's the scene where he massages Tristan, he carries Isolde around like it's nobody's business (and to be very clear, Tristan is her bodyguard and also cares for her, but Mark cares for BOTH of them). I think that with him you feel the WEIGHT of caretaking but it's also so tender. I was rereading this morning and she's literally like "I'm tired" at a party after... things happen... and he's immediately like "ARE YOU OKAY? DID I HURT YOU?" after being so cold to everyone else lol.

The Kingmaker by Kennedy Ryan (direct sequel is Rebel King). THIS SO MUCH. Lennix is such a genuinely strong heroine as well, which makes the way Maxim cares for her so beautiful. And then at one point she gets to take care of him in a way I found delightful. Reel also has a great caretaking hero, especially important as the heroine has a chronic illness. He's also a movie director, and he's generally very authoritative which... yes.

This is a dark romance, but in King's Captive by Amber Bardan the hero takes care of the heroine... And it's kinda weird.... Because she's been kept captive on his private island lol.... But I just have a vivid memory of the way he cared for her. And him cooking steaks.

Managed by Kristen Callihan has a wound-tight hero who takes care of EVERYONE and gets all huffy about the hero's resistance to him MANAGING her.

The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang has an amazing caretaker hero. He's very affirming, he cooks, he loves to tailor things, he also gets AGGRESSIVE in the right situations...

The Duke's Perfect Wife by Jennifer Ashley. Of course. Hart is growly and aggressive and a general menace, but he's also like. Everyone's dad. But Eleanor's DADDY. Will never forget the scene in a book that wasn't even theirs, introducing the fact that they'd been together in the past with him being like "You and your dad need rent money?" and before she could refuse him, tucking cash into her bodice lmao.

Rules for a Proper Governess by Jennifer Ashley. The Sound of Music if Captain Von Trapp was a Scottish lawyer with only two (horrible but great) kids and Maria was a street urchin who was stalking him before he hired her.

Regarding the Duke by Grace Callaway. This is an amnesia book where the hero conks his head, wakes up, doesn't know anyone, and is like "wait I'VE ONLY BEEN BANGING MY WIFE ONCE A WEEK???" Pre-amnesia, Adam is a (hot) but restrained PROVIDERRRRR which is one type of caretaking. Post-amnesia, he's full everything caretaker as soon as possible. And a great dad.

The Duke Gets Even by Joanna Shupe. BUT OFC. Lockwood has approximately no money, but he still wants to take Nellie out to eat (and then take her back home to eat), and to swan her about and take care of her. "I'm keeping you, Eleanor" PLEASE.

Indigo by Beverly Jenkins. All Galen wants to do is buy Hester things and take care of her and swan her about town and line his carriage with indigo fabric (because he calls her "ma petite Indigo". Truly one of THE BIGGEST CARETAKER HEROES EVER.

Lorraine Heath heroes often do caretaking. Waking Up with the Duke comes to mind, The Earl Takes All, Between the Devil and Desire, The Duke and the Lady in Red, The Duchess Hunt... most of them, tbh.

Pale Lights Book 2 - Pink Dress

Angharad in the pretty pink dress. I first planned to also draw Cleon, but then I just went "Naaah, I just want to make a pretty dress" in the sketch stage.

The Black House stocks did have dresses to borrow, and a very helpful tailor among the staff, but Angharad was not a short woman or a slender one. Only two would ever fit her without the intervention of miraculous spirits, and of these she was only willing to wear one. There were frills, and then there was the fit of madness that seized whatever seamstress was responsible for such an offense to the eyes.

Angharad was fitted into a lovely pink gown, of which her fuller figure made the neckline more daring than it had likely been on the previous owner. Her height meant it had to be hemmed the ankles instead of the floor, but the white chemise she wore beneath brought it all together with a natural air. The gold-embroidered cuffs fitted past her gown sleeves added a tasteful accent to the ensemble, though Angharad’s lack of jewelry would out her as being from an impoverished house.

It was a pretty fun challenge to see how daring I could make the "more daring than what was probably intended" neckline, before making Angharad switch to the criminally frilled other option.

Also, Angharad is very very very obviously lacking a string of pearls around her neck. To the point where she might just consider it, if Tristan shows up with a necklace he mysteriously "has found".

Chapter 1 - the wedding

The sun filtered through the grand windows of the countryside manor, casting golden rays across the polished floors. Y/N adjusted the hem of her blush-pink bridesmaid dress for the third time, nerves jangling beneath her composed exterior. The air buzzed with wedding preparations as caterers, florists, and coordinators flitted about, ensuring everything was perfect for James and Kirstie’s big day.

James, her older cousin and the closest thing she had to a brother, had always been her rock. His wedding was an event she wouldn’t miss for the world. But it also meant facing someone she hadn’t seen in two years—Bradley, her ex-boyfriend and James’ bandmate.

Their breakup had been mutual, or so they told themselves. The pressures of long-distance, conflicting schedules, and their own personal insecurities had driven a wedge between them. Yet, no amount of time seemed to dull the ache she felt when his name came up or one of The Vamps' songs played unexpectedly on the radio.

“Y/N, are you even listening?” James’ voice pulled her from her thoughts. He stood in the doorway, dressed in a crisp white shirt and navy trousers, his tie undone and a mischievous grin on his face.

“Sorry, what?” she asked, shaking her head as if that would clear away the storm of emotions brewing inside her.

“I asked if you’ve seen Kirstie’s bouquet. Apparently, it’s gone AWOL.”

“Oh, right. I’ll help you look for it,” she offered, glad for the distraction.

As they searched, Y/N felt the weight of James’ gaze on her. “You’re nervous,” he said, not as a question but a statement.

“What gave it away?” she replied, trying for humor.

“You’re worried about seeing Brad.”

Her head snapped up. “Is it that obvious?”

James shrugged. “I know you, Y/N. And for what it’s worth, I think this could be good. Closure, maybe?”

“Closure,” she echoed, tasting the word like it was foreign. Was that what she wanted?

Before she could answer, a familiar laugh drifted from the hallway. Her stomach dropped. There he was, standing just a few feet away, looking impossibly handsome in a tailored suit. Bradley’s dark curls were a little shorter than she remembered, but his warm brown eyes and infectious smile hadn’t changed a bit.

He was talking to Connor and Tristan, but as if sensing her presence, his gaze shifted and locked onto hers. Time seemed to freeze. The laughter faded, replaced by a tension that crackled in the air between them.

“Y/N,” he said, his voice soft yet filled with something she couldn’t quite place.

“Bradley,” she replied, her own voice steady despite the turmoil inside.

James cleared his throat, breaking the moment. “Well, I’ll leave you two to catch up,” he said with a knowing look before disappearing down the hall.

Y/N and Bradley stood there, an awkward silence stretching between them. Finally, he spoke. “You look… beautiful.”

“Thank you. So do you,” she said, her cheeks flushing.

He chuckled softly, running a hand through his hair. “It’s been a while.”

“Two years,” she replied, the words hanging heavy in the air.

Bradley nodded, his expression turning serious. “I’ve missed you, Y/N.”

Her heart skipped a beat. She wasn’t sure if she was ready for this conversation, but here it was, unfolding in the most unexpected of moments.

“Maybe we can talk later?” he suggested, sensing her hesitation.

She nodded. “Yeah, later.”

As he walked away, Y/N let out a breath she hadn’t realised she was holding. The day was only just beginning, and already, it promised to be unforgettable.

1324.2 - Weddings Gone Wrong and Gone Wild

With Rosemary now heavily pregnant, the family gathers for a small, private wedding at the Barrow farm. Though Brayden struggles with the idea that even his mother has gotten pregnant out of wedlock, the family is glad that she has found love again and are happily reunited to celebrate the event.

However, things do not go quite according to plan, as the guests wait for Hubert to arrive in vain. The hours go by with the family chatting and eating as they wait, but as the day comes to a close, no one knows what to tell the heartbroken Rosemary who still continues to wait for her groom by the wedding arch.

Meanwhile, Gabriella goes into labour and gives birth to a healthy baby girl she decides to name Shanna after her late mother.

Leaving their mother to recover from the shock of her missing groom, Brayden and his siblings attend the wedding of his best friend Quintin, who is happy to tie the knot with a wealthy tailor's daughter.

After the ceremony, the guests get a chance to mingle, and Cailan meets Quintin's beautiful sister Rosa. Though she is from a much wealthier family and has marriage prospects well above the humble Barrow family, she finds herself charmed by the handsome young man, and the two of them share their first kiss.

Adrianna makes the acquaintance of the mysterious Sir Lucan, and while everyone is busy drinking and chatting, they discreetly sneak off for a passionate encounter of their own. When the time comes to head home, Adrianna's absence raises a few eyebrows, but Cailan is quick to cover for his sister and she manages to sneak back home and pretend she had left early because of a headache.

The year ends with a small harvest celebration, during which Rosemary gives birth to baby Tristan, and Fatima reveals that she is finally pregnant again.

Now, in keeping with that theme—I’d love to hear your thoughts on what Tristan would do for Gale on his birthday? And, of course, what Gale “my grand gestures can never be grand enough” Dekarios would do for Tristan?

Alright, in the last one I mentioned what kind of present Tristan would give Gale, but of course he wouldn't leave it at that.

Over the course of roughly the week leading up to Gale's birthday, Tristan would pay close attention to his mood, and depending whether he was more in the mood for something lowkey and calm, or a big party, he'd surprise him with one of two options:

A romantic dinner, just the two of them, either in Gale's tower, or some beautiful, semi-remote location outdoors. Since I headcanon Gale to be an autumn child, he'd make the final decision dependent on the weather. If it was raining or storming too heavily, he'd keep it inside, but if the weather was nice, he'd absolutely make it a picnic. Candlelight, enchanted instruments to play Gale's favourite music, and a lovingly cooked meal, ideally under a canopy of stars. Slow dancing, intimate conversations, and most definitely another lesson in magic, because Tristan loves nothing more than to see how Gale's eyes lighten up when he gets to teach him some of the craft he loves so much.

An evening of merrymaking at the Yawning Portal with as many of Gale's friends as Tristan could possibly gather. Laughing, drinking, dancing - inevitably also on the tables as the night progresses - and just forgetting about the seriousness of life for a while. There'd be great food there too, and Gale would get the chance to gush and brag about all the adventures they'd experienced together. Tristan would consider it a successful evening if he had to carry home a passed out wizard in the middle of the night.

Now, what would Gale do for Tristan's birthday?

We all agree that he'd want to absolutely impress his partner, and he'd most definitely use his magic to do so. But especially for an occasion like a birthday, he wouldn't just put on some random show, but tailor the experience to his lover's wishes entirely.

In Tristan's case, the solution isn't too hard to find out. The thing he loves the most - except Gale - is the ocean. Ever since he was a kid, it's been his favourite fantasy to visit the underwater kingdoms he's heard and read about in fairytales, and it always made him sad to know that it'd never be possible. But now he has a magnificently magical lover, and he'll immediately make plans to make this very fantasy a reality. Not an illusion this time, no, only the real experience will be good enough for the love of Gale's life. He'll spend weeks, maybe even months, planning how exactly he wants to do it, and researching and practicing the spells he'll need for it.

Once the day is there, he'll take him to the beach, and just as Tristan thinks they'll simply spend a lovely day enjoying the sun and the sea and each other, Gale casts a spell on the both of them, turning their legs into beautiful fish tails, and granting them the ability to breathe underwater.

"I can't promise you kingdoms," he tells him, "But I hope this will be a journey you'll never forget."

TASK 003 / 01; What is your character wearing to the funeral?

Sebastian spent the whole morning trying to put something together. Even if he came to Woodrow House knowing he was attending Richard's funeral, he didn't think beforehand what he would be wearing for the occasion. Luckily for him, a good part of his wardrobe was funeral-coded.

After lending his favorite tie to Reuben as the younger had nothing to wear, Sebastian had to change his outfit for a fourth time that morning. Choosing to wear a three-piece Dolce&Gabbana black suit with stripped lines —only noticeable when looking at him up close—paired with a white shirt and black tie of the same brand. Leather gloves included and a silver tie chain to put the whole outfit together.

Sebastian wears his clothes, his clothes don't wear him. Everything is tailored perfectly and goes according to his personal style. His hair is brushed back with a few strands out of place —this is done on purpose, since Jack has told him in the past that it made him look more approachable, not really—

I like the idea of sense Cat is of earth and not Britannia and she grew up with things like the games and movies. Meaning when Tristan was born and she adopted Link. She probably shared the stories when during bed Time stories.

Tristan and Link learning about Lion King, Shrek, Puss In Boots, Spirited Away, Legend of Zelda, How to Train your Dragon, and the list goes on! Tristan and Link are gonna develop a good amount of imaginations thanks to their Mama Cat.

Side fun Plot! Link attempts to teach the Cats how to use Swords like 'Puss in Boots'. Link asks the Castle Tailor to make Boots for Cats so he can create his own Feline Fighters.

Arthur would catch a glimpse of this going on and be like 'What is even happening????? Why is my son teaching those monsters how to fight?' Oh you know Arthur is gonna have a word with Catherine about the 'Cats with Boots' issue.

That sounds so cute. Imagining little Link curled up beside his mama as she tells him of Puss in Boots and how he fought bravely. Or how a young man was able to train a dragon and ride it.

Of course the cats are not at all like Puss in Boots, so it's amusing to see Link try to 'teach' the cats how to fight. The cats could care less about what he's saying. Curled up in a ball and not paying any attention to him.
