An artist's rendition of the "hunter's hallucination"
The myth began with a treasure hunter discovering a lost and destroyed ancient temple, inside he finds jewls and gold among the rubble. But as he's leaving with the riches, shadows in the corner of his eye begin to startle him. But nothing's there. He's about to exit the temple when he feels a presence behind him, he turns, but his vision begins to warp.
Looming above him is a dark shape that twists and sways in his vision, the entire temple bulging and shrinking, the explorer becomes increasingly dizzy.
The beast is a dragon, it's shape inconsistent and constantly twisting. Limbs and eyes appear and dissappear, it can double and even triple itself in an instant. But among the swimming sight is a static figure.
Described and drawn as a large bodied reptile with huge looming wings with shapes like moons line the inside. Spread open they look infinite like space. Blobular fins line the long, thin tail.
The explorer in the myth began to fall into hysteria looking at the dragon, an impossible quantity of fear striken into his heart. He tried to scramble away, only to pass out at the door.
He was discovered in the middle of the forest deep in a coma and taken back to safety, where he drew this beast in the hospital. The doctors say he went insane, but the tale of the Hunter's Hallucination spread like wildfire none the less.

Dragon Evolution: Wraiths and Furies
This started off as me wanting to design some new Fury species, but Iâm still on my draconic evolution kick so I thought Iâd combine it with an exploration of how the three Fury species evolved. Yes, three. The Night Fury, the Light Fury and the Sand Wraith. As for the Woolly Howl, whilst it resembles the basic shape of a Fury, it lacks base-fins (the triangular secondary wings at the base of the tail) so I prefer to chalk the similarities up to convergent evolution.
So, I believe that these three species of dragon originally branched off from a common ancestor which in turn evolved in Asia, specifically in the Himalayan region. The ones that remained are known as Mountain Wraiths. They have the classic body shape of a Night Fury, with spikes down the head and back, base-fins and triangular/fan like tail-fins. They are coloured in various shades of brown with grey dapples, giving them great camouflage against the rocks.
Their hunting strategy consists of waiting in ambush on the peaks for prey to wander below and then dive bombing it to knock it off the cliffs and catch it. Some cultures view them as reincarnations of people that died in the mountains due to their shrieking calls, hence the âWraithâ part of the name.
Their ancestors spread throughout the Himalayas and beyond. Some individuals followed the mountain chains west and then south into Pakistan etc. Those that were more sandy coloured, with paler dapples, had an advantage in camouflaging in these new desert conditions. They became semi-aquatic to avoid the heat of the desert and evolved longer, sharper spikes to defend them from dragons such as Deathgrippers or Triple Strykes.
In other words, this branch of the ancestral species evolved into Sand Wraiths.
Others travelled west and north, into Europe. There they faced competition from the numerous other dragon species. To avoid competing directly with their new neighbours, they shifted from being crepuscular (that is, mostly active at dawn and dusk) to being nocturnal. The darker, more melanistic ones were better camouflaged in the darkness, allowing them to take advantage of the abundant seafood when fish swim to the surface to feed every night.
Needless to say, this branch of the ancestral species evolved into Night Furies.
As for Light Furies⌠letâs pretend, for the sake of argument, that they donât look that way just because Dreamworks wanted them to look pretty and girly. They can interbreed with NFs, so we can infer they branched off from that species rather than being another offshoot of the ancestral Mountain Wraiths.
So, as Night Furies travelled or were pushed further north, into the arctic, their black coloration wouldâve been good camouflage during polar nights but not much good during month long polar days. Perhaps not all NFs were/are jet black, and the paler individuals were more likely to survive in the arctic. Or perhaps a mutation led to some NFs being leucistic. Maybe a mix of both.
(Hereâs where we diverge a little from the canon LF design.) Apart from having fewer and shorter auricles to reduce heat loss, this new species also evolved large paws with sharp claws for better traction on snow and ice. They also evolved to be more streamlined in water since the arctic is mostly a marine environment and most of their food sources would also be marine animals.
Then there are the ancestral MWs that went further east, into China, and found yet another habitat - rainforests. Their dapples meant they were still camouflaged. However, the ones that adapted best were smaller and more manoeuvrable, better able to fly between trees. The close genetic similarities mean that the Forest Wraith is considered a sub species of Mountain Wraith.

So that âNine Realmsâ httyd spinoff is a thing apparently...admittedly havenât watched it myself, but I saw some clips as well as the reviews and uh...yeah, I think imma pass on this one, it looks....pretty bad. I donât necessarily think the general concept of exploring the httyd universe a thousand years in the future is the worst thing ever, but from what Iâve seen the execution of said concept was just....yyyyyyyyeah, not great. đŹ
But of course, I canât resist the urge to whip up a fun redesign every once in a while, so hereâs my take on the main dragon, Thunder. (I might do some of the other dragons as well at some point, though I donât plan to touch the new human characters because wow i just d o n â t  c a r e )
I did a lot of thinkinâ about the future of the Fury species given that Toothless is canonically the last Night Fury (confirmed not only by the film but also by the director or writer or something iirc, so no I donât want to hear any âbut maybe there was another population hiding somewhere!!1!â in the notes. Donât get me wrong, I think it would be awesome if it were true and Iâm sure it makes for fun fanfics, but itâs simply not canon so Iâm not going to be assuming it for these purposes.) At first I was skeptical whether the black/bicolor scale coloration would still persist after a thousand years of Toothlessâs descendants interbreeding with Light Furies, but upon further consideration, and assuming Fury color genes work similarly to those of cats, I came the conclusion that yes, bicolor Furies could indeed still be a thing (and we could eventually even get fully black ones again)--but I think Iâm gonna save those details for a separate post, tomorrow maybe. Donât wanna bog this one down any more than it already will be).
However, while it would be theoretically possible for Thunder to still have his canon color pattern despite being so many generations removed from Toothless, I really wanted to emphasize his Light Fury genes, since thatâs what heâd mostly be, so I increased the ratio of white scales. Also went ahead and gave him a primarily Light Fury body structure--fins instead of spikes, less nubs (albeit slightly longer ones than a standard Light Fury), the like. oh and also the general adjustment of giving the boi some actual torso because good golly why is it so short--
Lastly gave him a proper Fury tail rather than whatever the heck that triple-fin thing is supposed to be. I assume that they were going for âoh the dragons evolved while they were awayâ but the change just seems so...arbitrary. So a standard two tailfins he gets, with a shape somewhere in-between those of the standard Night and Light Furies (his wings are a similar in-between).
He can keep the little lightning-shaped blaze tho thatâs kinda cool I like it
Aaaaaand there you have it, a far-future Night Light who doesnât look like someone took an off-model plastic Toothless toy, repainted it, and tacked on a few arbitrary extra features with clay :)

FLIGHTLINE: 198 - SCALED COMPOSITES/NORTHROP GRUMMAN MODEL 281 PROTEUS
Originally intended to act as a high-altitude telecommunications relay, the Proteus has also undertaken various research programs for US government.
The Proteus was conceived by legendary aircraft engineer Burt Rutan for high-altitude, long endurance missions, in particular as a less-expensive alternative to satellites as a telecommunications relay. Such an aircraft would need to be light but very strong, as well as being able to fly with a payload for as long as possible. Rutan's design was, as was typical for him, very unusual. The cylindrical fuselage has two tandem wings, the forewing just aft of the cockpit and the second longer main wing at the rear, just below the two engine pods. Two booms extended aft of the wing, each supporting a vertical stabilizer; there were no horizontal fins. The Model 281, later christened Proteus, is almost entirely an epoxy/carbon fiber composite, resulting in an empty weight of 5,860lbs, impressive for an aircraft that is 56' long and with a wingspan of 77' (with optional wingtips that extend the width to 92'). On the ground, the need to hang equipment pods under the fuselage resulted in long landing gear, with the top of the tails sitting nearly eighteen feet off the ground.

As the original mission called for long endurance, up to eighteen hours at 60,000 feet, the Model 281 was designed to be optionally manned, with either on-board autonomous controls or ground based remote piloting systems guiding the plane. Alternatively, two pilots can fly the plane in the pressurized cockpit. Two Williams FJ44-2 turbofans, each producing 2,300lbf of thrust, propel the Model 281 to a top speed of 313mph, though cruise is a leisurely 219mph at 20,000'. The aircraft was built at Scaled Composites Mojave, California plant, with the maiden flight on 26 July 1998. Flight testing progressed throughout 1999, with the aircraft making an appearance at the Paris Air Show, flying non-stop from Bangor, Maine to France. The Proteus flew daily demonstrations to show off not only the plane, but also the communications technology it was expected to carry.

After the Paris show, the Model 281 returned to to the US for the AirVenture show in Oshkosh, were it demonstrated HyperSpectral Science's Airborne Real-Time Imaging (ARTIS) camera pod, which took visual and near-IR images of the crowd, which were then beamed near-instantaneously to monitors on the ground. Afterwards, the plane flew to Mojave to start test flights for the system it was intended to support, Angel Technologies HALO Network, which intended to provide wireless broadband access to metropolitan areas via a series of aircraft. Testing of Angel's project, which included a 14-foot diameter millimeter-wave radar (MMR) dish suspended below the Proteus, began in the Autumn of 1999, and progressed through the summer of 2000. Once the testing concluded and funding was provided, Scaled Technology Works, a subsidiary of Scaled Composites, would have taken over production of the operational HALO aircraft, based on the Proteus, which would then be fitted out by Raytheon. Although the test series proved that the HALO system worked, advances in other technologies, particularly long distance fiber-optic lines, made the project redundant.

This was not the end of the Proteus' missions, however. The Model 281's ability to reach high altitude for long periods made it attractive to various governmental agencies as a research platform. During 2000, the Proteus flew the National Polar-Orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System Airborne Sounder Testbed â Interferometer (NAST-I) instrument pod for the Department of Energy, as well water vapor experiments as for the ARM-FIRE AFWEX program. In 2001 several missions for NASA were undertaken, including the Transport and Chemical Evolution over the Pacific (TRACE-P) project, again flying the NAST pod with over 126 flight hours being logged as the plane flew from Alaska, Hawaii and Japan.

Later in the year the Model 281 moved to the US East Coast as part of the Chesapeake Lighthouse & Aircraft Measurements for Satellites (CLAMS) program, flying out of NASA Wallops as one of a number of aircraft experimenting with different methods of remotely measuring ocean conditions. The following year, the USAF contracted the Proteus to carry a 30' long target pod for the YAL-1 Airborne Laser aircraft. The pod had over 2,000 optical sensors to detect the laser being fired, but due to scheduling conflicts it was never actually used, and a different system was added to the NKC-135 Big Crow for the YAL's test phase. One of those conflicting programs was NASA's Environmental Research Aircraft and Sensor Technology-Detect See and Avoid (ERAST-DSA), which involved the Proteus flying in a semi-autonomous capacity to develop a traffic control system for UAVs. ERAST ran from March to April, and involved the Proteus being fitted with a number of radar and communications systems, including a Goodrich Skywatch HP Traffic Advisory System and an Amphitech OASys 35 GHz radar, and flown remotely (with safety pilots on-board) while various other aircraft were flown around it on potential collision courses to test the systems' abilities to detect the oncoming threat. The ground pilot was then able to direct the Proteus away from the intruders. In May and April the plane was again flying for NASA, this time as part of the International H2O Project (IHOP 2002), which involved flying the Holographic Airborne Rotating Lidar Instrument Experiment to gain a clearer understanding of four-dimensional (4-D) distribution of water vapor and its application to improving the understanding and prediction of convection, in the interests of improving forecasting techniques. In July the 281 was fitted with wingtip extensions and canards for NASA's Crystal-FACE project, which measured tropical cirrus clouds during flights from Key West, Florida, sometimes flying as far south as Belize. For this program, the Proteus was flying along with several of NASA's other high fliers, including the ER-2 and WB-57.

In the autumn of 2002 the Proteus was again flying in support of the the DoE's ARM program, this time testing the ARM-UAV instrument pod to allow further development of HALO UAVs to study the effect of cirrus clouds on the Earth's radiation balance. In addition to flights over the continental US, other phases involved the Proteus being based out of Fairbanks, Alaska in October 2004 and from Darwin, Australia in February 2006. Also in 2006, the USAF contracted the Proteus to carry the Multi-Platform Radar Technology Insertion Program (MP-RTIP) pod, being developed for the RQ-4B Global Hawk. The system, when fully developed, would allow the Global Hawk to track slow-moving ground vehicles as well as low-flying targets like cruise missiles and UCAVs. The pod, 30 feet long and weighing 3,000 pounds, was one of the largest and heaviest payloads carried to date by the Model 281.

Proteus has been contracted by other companies as well, flying several missions in 2005 for Transformational Space Corp. (aka t/Space) to test their trapeze system for an air-launch rocket system which had been proposed for NASA's Commercial Orbital Transportation Services (COTS) and Commercial Crew Development (CCDev) programs. Northrop Grumman, which had acquired Scaled Composites in 2007 and now operates the company as a subsidiary, has offered a militarized version of the Proteus, as the Model 395, to the USAF as part of a 2004 request for proposals for a HALO UCAV capable of flying at 35,000 to 50,000 feet for 16-30 hours with a payload of 3,000 pounds. A fully UAV modification of the Model 281, the proposed UCAV would have mounted a sensor turret under the nose as well as a synthetic-aperture radar pod forward and weapons racks under the center fuselage, including triple racks for 500lb JDAMs or a single 5,000 bunker buster. The Model 395 was not selected, but Northrop continues to refine the concept.

RECORD HOLDER Proteus has set several world altitude records in FAI Class C-1e (Landplanes: takeoff weight 3,000 to 6,000 kg (6,600 to 13,200 lb)), Group 2 (turbojet) including:
Altitude: piloted by Mike Melvill and Robert Waldmiller, 19,277 m (63,245 ft) on 25 October, 2000.
Altitude in horizontal flight: piloted by Mike Melvill and Robert Waldmiller, 19,015 m (62,385 ft), also on 25 October, 2000.
Altitude with a 1,000 kg (2,200 lb) payload: piloted by Mike Melvill and Robert Waldmiller, 17,067 m (55,994 ft), on 27 October, 2000.

The group approached the tree, of both a strange color and shape. Its trunk was different from an ordinary treeâs, instead having gray, thick wood that looked as if it were made of many entangled strands. Its overgrown leaves, rather than being green, were a dull purple color.
âThis is really creepy~,â Kine said. Kirby, puffing up with air to float, examined the tree.
âKirby, be very careful,â Rick said, âthis tree is soaked with the puppet potionâs ingredients. If you get too close, you might fall under its effects.â
âYeahâŚâ
Kirby carefully observed the tree.
âI think this tree looks a lot like the Dreamstalk, but-â
âThe what?â
âThe Dreamstalk. It grew in this place called Floralia.â
Kirby once got involved with an incident in and visited the floating continent Floralia. His motive was a large plant known as the Dreamstalk. A single seed fell into Dream Land and grew rapidly in just one night, and it lifted Kirbyâs house into the sky.
âDreamstalk? Floralia?â
Rick and Kine had curious looks on their faces.
âIâve heard of those,â said Coo, local walking dictionary (he knew many things), âthere once was a marvelous plant connecting the many floating islands that made up one floating continent. It should have disappeared after the Battle of Floralia, but⌠Is this truly the Dreamstalk?â
âHmm⌠I dunno, butâŚâ
Kirby recalled what had happened.
â...the Dreamstalk was way bigger than this, and it wasnât this kind of color. It was a really nice green. But the shape of the leaves is exactly the same.â
âI see. Perhaps this tree is of a similar genus to the Dreamstalk?â
âMaybe so.â
âKirby, do you know a lot about it?â Rick asked. âDo you know how to undo Pirkaâs spell?â
âI mean, Iâve got no idea, butâŚâ
In the battle that had happened so long ago, he had overthrown Queen Sectonia, who had ruled over the People of the Sky with an iron first, so that he could save the world. What about this time? If he defeated Pirka, would that purify the tree? Could he eliminate the ingredients of the puppet potion diffused into the lake?
âNonetheless,â Coo said, âPirka appears to be the one holding the key to all of this. If we listen to the story again-â
It was at that moment that Kine shouted:
âAhh!! That big lucky charm sack-â
Kirby and co. looked back. The good luck charm pouch that Pirka and the others were trapped in seemed as if, with great vigor, it would burst at any moment. Apparently, Meta Knight and King Dedede had regained consciousness. Since all three of them were struggling so violently, as one would expect, the bagâs limits would soon be reached.
âThis is really badâŚâ
Kirby and co. rushed over to the large pouch and tried to subdue them.
However, it was a little too late.
The lucky charm pouch was torn up from the inside, and out the three jumped! Meta Knight and King Dedede quickly picked up their fallen weapons.
âDarn it!â Coo yelled. âWe shouldâve kept their weapons away!â
âDedede! Meta Knight!â Kirby shouted. âYou guys are still under her control?!â
âWhoâs so weak-willed and easy to control now?â Rick grumbled. âYou said-â
Meta Knight readied his sword and plunged forward.
âDanger alert!â
Kirby rolled away to dodge in an instant. Coo flapped his wings and launched his feathers. CUTTER COO! However, Meta Knight saw the attack coming. Wielding the Galaxia sword, he deflected every feather coming his way.
âWoah, so cool!â
Gooey bounced up and down.
âYou think this is the time for compliments!?â Rick yelled. âWe've gotta do something!â
Rick, hurriedly, rolled into a ball. However, before he could start rolling, King Dedede swooped down upon him. He raised his hammer, then swung it around, hitting Rick in a full swing!
âAhhhhhhhh!!!â
Rick was sent flying far away at a high speed. Kine screamed.
âAhh!! Rick-!! O-OK, guess I have to face Rickâs opponent then!!â
Kine bravely tried to fight against the king, but Meta Knight cut his way there first. META TRIPLE SLASH!
âWoaaah!! Stop it! Youâre gonna slice me into sashimi!â
Kine tried to flee, shaking his tail fin.
âStop that~!!â
Gooey stretched out his tongue and tried to snatch Meta Knightâs sword.
However, Meta Knight quickly jumped out of the way, glaring at Gooey. There was no time to prepare at all. If Gooey were to carelessly stretch out his tongue in preparation for an attack, heâd be left wide open to the attacks from Meta Knightâs treasured sword, Galaxia.
âThe same tactics youâve used before wonât work against them now!â Coo shouted. âThe two have already memorized our attack patterns!â
âW-We've got more important things to worry about, Coo!â
âWeâve gotta catch Pirka!â Kine yelled. Kirby and co. followed Pirka with their eyes. Pirka spread her wings and flew toward the surface of the lake. She was aiming at the stones on the opposite bank.
âThis is really bad!â Coo yelled. âIf we donât stop her, her puppet spell will spread all over the Rainbow Islands!!â
âWait~!â
Kine almost dove into the lake on instinct, but hurriedly stopped himself. Coo, flapping his wings, tried to pursue Pirka. However, there, Meta Knight swooped in to attack. Jumping through the clouds, he cut through while spinning in the air. KNIGHT SPIN!
Ough!â
Coo just barely evaded it, but Meta Knightâs fierce attack wouldnât stop. Spreading his cape, he quickly jumped up and slashed at Coo. All Coo could do was try his best to dodge. This way, he wouldnât be able to catch Pirka. Amidst the chaos, Kirby puffed up with air to fly. The copy ability-less Kirby wasnât able to properly fight Meta Knight and King Dedede. All he could do at the moment was try his best to chase Pirka.
âWaaaait!â he shouted loudly. However, of course, Pirka wouldnât stop. Kirby tried to keep floating after her, but he was still a âface without makeup.â No matter how hard he tried, he wasnât fast. Scowling at the distant Pirka, Kirby squeezed his own hand. His impatience grew. If he had the Tornado or Jet ability, he wouldâve been able to catch up with Pirka in the blink of an eye.
âThe way things are⌠I wonât make it in time!!â
That moment, following Kirby, Gooey flew in the air. At the same time, Gooeyâs body changed. Rotating around it, there appeared to be orange-colored lumps that looked like flower petals.
âGooey?!â
Kirby was surprised.
Gooey, glaring right at Pirka up ahead of him, flew out as quickly as a bullet. Such a splendid speed. Like this, he caught up with her in the blink of an eye.
âWow, so cool, Gooey! How can you do that?? I never knew you could fly so fast!â
However, he couldnât afford to rest for even a second. King Dedede raised his hammer overhead and rushed in to attack. He jumped up, turned to aim at Kirby, and let out a strong attack: GIANT SWING!
âEeek!!!â
Kirby just barely evaded it, falling to the cloudy ground. Landing with ease, Dedede looked at Kirby with blank eyes. Kirby looked up at the great king, and desperately raised his voice at him:
âDedede, please snap out of it! Itâs me, Kirby! Donât listen to Pirka!!â
However, Dedede didnât seem to understand, his mind a prisoner. The great king silently clutched his hammer.
He began to charge up a certain KO attack, the DEDEDE HAMMER FLIP! The ability-less Kirby could do nothing about it.
âDedede!!â Kirby desperately cried.
Suddenly, a lightning-like beam struck the king. He was knocked down and nearly dropped his hammer.
â!!â
King Dedede roared and looked back.
It was Gooey.
Noticing that Kirby was in a pinch, Gooey stopped chasing Pirka and went back.
âGooey!â Kirby shouted. âThereâs no point! Iâll be just fine, Gooey, I swear, so go after Pirka!â
âNO WAY!â
Gooey flatly rejected that notion. As far as Gooey was concerned, Kirby was a cherished, dear friend. He couldnât let Kirby get hurt.
â!!â
Turning around to face Gooey, King Dedede picked his hammer up again and raised it overhead.
âEeeee!!!â
Once again, Gooey fired a laser. King Dedede quickly jumped out of the way and threw his hammer at him. Gooey fell to the cloudy ground, the lumps disappearing.
âGOOOOO!!!!â
Vigorously, he charged at Dedede! His body was engulfed in a strangely sparkling blue flame. A Gooey-exclusive move hiding limitless power: BURNING GOOEY!
â!!â
King Dedede fell over as he got hit by the attack. However, his stamina was, again, limitless. Though he should have taken a lot of damage, he didnât seem to feel any pain, and quickly got up. The great king picked up and charged up his hammer again. Gooey, too, was ready to fight. The two opponents, mutually, were waiting for an opportunity to strike. Kirby, anxiously, looked toward Pirka. Pirka sped through the air with ease. She had almost reached the pile of stones.
âPirka!! No!!â
Kirby turned his back to Gooey and the puppet king and puffed up in the air. No matter how he tried, he couldnât move any faster.
âNo⌠Pirka⌠stop it!! Stop it right now!!â Kirby yelled as he lightly floated her way⌠however, Pirka had finally reached the stones. Pirka folded her wings, bent back, and laughed at him.
âAhahahahahaha!! I wonât let anyone stand in my way. Everyone, everything, they shall all bow to me, their almighty queen, Queen Pirka!â
Pirka began to remove the piled-up stones from one side.

Monster Ecologies: Tigrex and Brute Tigrex
Entry 24 - Tigrex and Brute Tigrex
Name: Tigrex and Brute Tigrex
Aliases: Rex, Crash, Tigarekkusu, Roaring Wyvern for Tigrex and Crunch, Tigarekkusu Ashu, Black Roaring Wyvern for Tigrex
Classification: Reptile, Pseudo Wyvern
Biology: Tigrex are bulky and primitive reptilian Pseudo Wyverns, having a body shape believed to be similar to the original ancestor of all Flying Wyverns. Two crests (that are slightly larger in male specimens) jut out from above itâs eyes, small fins are located on its back and shoulders, and itâs tail ends in a spiky protrusion. The monster is easily identified by its powerful limb muscles and bright yellow-blue striped coloration. Rather than the large wings most Flying Wyverns are known for, the front limbs of a Tigrex are instead a set of winged forelegs. This allows it to run much more efficiently than many others of its kind, at speeds of up to 50 km/h, and means that it spends the majority of its time on the ground. While it is indeed capable of flight, it prefers gliding or walking from location to location and will only take to the air in emergency situations. The most unusual abilities of a Tigrex are itâs blood vessels and itâs roar. When enraged, blood full of adrenaline rushes to the creatures extremities and head. This stops it from cramping or blacking out during fits of anger alongside giving it near-unrivalled stamina. But this useful adaptation does have disadvantages. Itâs body becomes injured more easily in this state and if the monster doesnât rest soon after it calms down, it risks suffering major injuries, hyperventilating and even passing out. The roar of a Tigrex is one of the most infamous among all monsters, strong enough to potentially kill smaller creatures standing close to it. It accomplishes this spectacular feat thanks to a triple-branched respiratory system, essentially having three sets of lungs. They breathe in a cyclic manner, allowing a constant flow of oxygen into its bloodstream and further boosting its impressive stamina. Alongside their impressive lungs are a massive syrinx and unusually wide trachea, which all combine to amplify its roar into the destructive force that comes out of the maw of this beast. Brute Tigrex are very similar to their normal counterparts, but do have things to set them apart. Their scales have darker colours of grey, brown, and beige. Itâs forelimbs are more muscular and powerful, and it also an even stronger robust set of lungs that give it increased roaring capacity. These are adaptations it has evolved due to it predominantly living in harsher environments than the common Tigrex.
Behaviour: Tigrex are incredibly aggressive monsters with a short fused attitude and intense will to fight. They will attempt to attack anything that so much as irritates them, even going after species much larger than them such as Gammoth in the Old World. It is not uncommon to see these monsters covered in scars and bite marks from previous battles. Areas that Tigrex are currently inhabiting are periodically filled with the sound of its booming roars, serving as a stay-away warning to rivals or an invitation to mates. Parents will raise their young in different ways depending on how many are born. A single cub will be solely raised by the mother while the father leaves to continue his life. When two cubs are born, each parent will take one and raise them separately. In the rare case of three cubs, the parents will raise them together but send them off into the wild at an earlier age. This is because the cubs will hunt together as a trio, but not as a duo. Even as juveniles, they have the intense aggression and determination adults are known for, so they can hold their own against larger monsters when fighting together. They will eventually split apart fortunately, as even a single Tigrex is a force to be reckoned with, let alone three of them. Brute Tigrex behave in much the same way, with no observed differences.
Habitat: Similarly to Bazelguese and Deviljho, Tigrex are nomadic creatures. They journey from area to area and settle down in areas rich with prey to feed on, but are known to frequent deserts and snowy mountainous regions most often. Because of this, they can be found all throughout the New World. Their hunting methods actually differ depending on what area they are currently inhabiting. In deserts, their colouration helps them to blend in with the rocks and sand so they stay still until prey comes near to ambush them. In any other area, they stand out vividly. So they instead sprint towards prey that havenât noticed it yet, often attempting to separate the old or weak to ensure an easier catch. While Brute Tigrex can be found in similar areas as common Tigrex in the Old Wolrd, they mostly inhabit volcanic areas. Correspondingly, they can be found in the Elders Recess and also the Guiding Lands in the New World.
Diet: Tigrex are carnivores that voraciously feed on whatever is available. Their diet mainly consists of large herbivores such as Aptonoth, Apceros and Popo. Smaller predators are also on the menu, but it prefers to hunt herbivores due to their higher body fat content. Tigrex that live in the Rotten Vale have become scavengers that feed on the wide variety of carrion available, but wonât pass up a meal of singular Lesser Girros or juvenile Radobaan. While they are capable of killing adult Radobaan and Great Girros, the paralysing packs of the former and the hard bony exterior of the latter make it so that the two typically stay off the menu unless the beast is extremely desperate. Brute Tigrex in the Elders Recess subsist on Gastodon and Barnos, with those living in the Guiding Lands feed on a wider variety of prey alongside carrion from the Rotten Hollow.
Attack Method: Other than their ear-splitting roar, Tigrex rely exclusively on brute strength during fights. Their powerful jaws and muscular limbs allow them to overpower smaller opponents, not really having a fighting style but instead just savagely biting and thrashing about. Their tail ends in a spiked tip and is sometimes used like a whip, such as when the monster spins 360 degrees to hit anything around it. Against larger opponents, Tigrex arenât the type to look for weak spots and just bite and scratch the body part nearest to them. Brute Tigrex fight in much the same way, but with even more ferocity. Due to the constant eruptions of their volcanic homes, the roar of this species has become even louder and stronger. It has even gained the ability to create a short-range blast of sound, similar to that of Akantor.
Place in the Food Chain: Being nomadic, Tigrex are among the top predators in any environment they inhabit. They can survive in almost any habitat and donât hesitate entering the territory of other monsters. Brute Tigrex are much the same, but arenât as wide-spread as the regular members are. Only apex monsters like Rathalos, Rathian, Nargacuga, Zinogre, Diablos, Glavenus, Brachydios and Barioth are capable of winning brawls with the Pseudo Wyverns and kicking them out of the area. Odogaron and Legiana are too frail to outright beat the beasts but the formers tenacity and latters agility can keep them at bay until they decide to wander out of the area.
This has been a report on the Tigrex and Brute Tigrex. Thank you for reading.

Cantrips (at will) friends, mage hand, minor illusion, viscous mockery

Iâm Where I Need To Be, And Youâre Where You Need To Be. So long as Prismo is in his House of Mirrors, he can not be located or viewed through magical means. All divination spells fail to locate him or his possessions in his House of Mirrors. Additionally, Prismo always has a general idea where someone is located in his House of Mirrors, but never their exact location. Prismo can still be surprised.
Actions
Paralyzing Touch. Melee Spell Attack: +12 to hit, reach of 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 10 (3d6) cold damage. The target must succeed on a DC 18 Constitution saving throw or be paralyzed for 1 minute. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of his turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.
Legendary Actions
Prismo can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creatureâs turn. Prismo regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.
Cantrip. Prismo casts a cantrip.
Paralyzing Touch (Costs 2 Actions). Prismo uses its Paralyzing Touch.
Look Inside Yourself Detective (Costs 2 Actions). Prismo fixes his gaze on a creature within 10 feet of him. The target must succeed on a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw against this magic or spend be incapacitated for one minute, spending that time being incredibly introspective. The target may repeat the save at the end of each of their turns, ending the effect on a success. If the targetâs saving throw is successful on ending the effect on itself, it becomes immune to Prismoâs gaze for 24 hours.
Did You Get The Scalpel, Detective?. Prismo forces keys into the bodies of all living victims of his house of mirrors. Each non-undead creature within 20 feet of Prismo must make a DC 18 Constitution saving throw against this magic, taking 3d6 necrotic and 3d6 piercing damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a success.
Prismoâs Lair
Little is known about Prismoâs House of Mirrors. A place where the eye can not be trusted, the clown-lich will taunt and toy with his guests when ever they enter the House. Often times in this place, illusions may become much more than their intention. Whenever a spell that creates an illusion is cast, there is a 20% chance the illusion becomes real. It does not hold any loyalty to its caster and acts according to its own nature. This does not include spells that effect the caster, such as invisibility. If Prismo is fought in his lair, his CR increases to 22 (41,000 XP)
Liar Actions
On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), Prismo can take a liar action to cause one of the following magical effects. Prismo can not use the same magical effect two rounds in a row.
* Prismo rolls a d8 and regains a spell slot of the level or lower. If he has no spent spell slots of the level or lower, nothing happens.
* Prismo summons many glass shards, hurling them at a target within 60 feet of him. The target must make a DC 18 Dexterity saving throw, taking 52 (20d4) slashing damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. The shards of glass clean themselves up after the attack is complete.
* Prismo targets one creature that is adjacent to one of his carnival mirrors. They must make a DC 18 Constitution saving throw or become the warped reflection they see. Roll 1d100 and consult the table below to determine the creatures morphed state. The flesh warping condition can be ended by a greater restoration spell or something similar.
01-05 The targets hair grows obscenely long, blinding them.
06-10 The target grows a small face on their shoulder. The target has advantage on saving throws against being charmed, stunned, or frightened. This face will speak rudely of the target consistently.
11-15 The creature grows crab claws for hands. These claws cannot hold normal weapons but can function as daggers. Somatic spell components arenât possible with the claws.
16-20 One of the targets legs grow twice as long as the other, reducing their walking speed by 10 feet.
20-25 The targets grow fins and gills, gaining a swim speed of 30 feet and the ability to breath water. They can survive 30 minutes out of water.
26-30 The targets eyes begin crawling around, acting as tiny creatures with a movement speed of 15 feet. The target can command their eyes as a bonus action and see through them as normal. The eyes share initiative with their owner and are unable to take any actions that are not the Dash action. The eyes have 1 hit point each and an AC of 8. If they eyes are destroyed, the target is blinded until they get new eyes.
31-35 The targets ears tear off and scurry around the targets body. The target is now deafened.
36-40 The targets teeth double in size. They can not use spells requiring verbal components.
41-45 The targets skin becomes stretched and flabby, granting advantage on grapple checks but halved movement speed.
46-50 The targets legs and arms switch places, forcing them to crawl.
51-55 The targets arms begin dragging on the floor, increasing their weapon range by 5 feet.
56-60 The targets legs double in size, increasing its movement speed by 10 feet.
61-65 The targets head doubles in size. They have disadvantage on ranged attacks of any kind.
66-70 The targets eyes disappear and reappear on the back of their head. They can now see behind them, but not in front of them.
71-75 The target swells, tripling its weight.
76-80 The targets body broadens substantially. They look like a square.
81-85 The targets feet and hands double in size, making fine manipulation difficult.
86-90 The targets ears become wings, giving them a fly speed of 5 feet. The target is deafened
91-95 The targets body becomes brittle, giving them vulnerability to bludgeoning, slashing, and piercing damage.
96-00 The target must flip a coin. On heads, they are reduced in a way similar to the Reduce spell. On tails, they are enlarged as if under the effects of the Enlarge spell. This effect lasts indefinitely until a greater restoration spell ends the effect.

Power Rangers Beast Might
(Logo by @masterpikachu6)
Centuries ago a strange cube-like object appeared in orbit around Earth. Its origin was unknown but its mission was clear, it was to collect a sample of each species on Earth should the planet ever be lost due to internal or external causes. And so the AI of the Cube, Z:00 carried out its mission. Scanning and collecting data and samples from each species of animal on the planet. Each was collected within a small data cube. One day a group of aliens calling themselves the Galactic Hunting Guild arrived at Earth. They attacked the cube hoping to use the data to create their own private hunting range. During the attack many data cubes were scattered in the city of Stone Canyon. A group of people find some of the cubes and witness the Cube crashing and investigate. They find Z:00 moments before the AI cloaks the craft hiding it from the Guild. Z:00 explains its mission and tasks the five with collecting the lost data cubes. To accomplish this Z:00 gives them Beast Morphers, small cube like devices to track and scan the scattered cubes. Meanwhile the Guild decides to attack humanity to pass the time until they find the Cube once more. Grows vegetables/fruits, catches fish, lives in a cabin in the woods with solar panels. He makes some money instructing others on how to hunt safely and enforces the regulations in his spare time. He found his cube which was still inside the scanning device. The scanner still had the data for the Rhino, Wolf, and Crocodile on it. The device was damaged and when he touched it the feedback caused him to be overwhelmed with power and instincts leading to him being manipulated by the Guild for their own ends. Eventually the other Rangers help him break free and Z:00 is able to repair the device creating the Tri-Morpher. Sometimes before a battle heâll call out âTime for the hunt!â The other Rangers as well as his niece and nephew are the only people who know his Ranger identity. His niece and nephew discovered it after a monster traps their scouting troop in a maze and he rescues them. After the incident he reveals his identity to his sister as well. I just wanted to drop in and say that I completely adore your Winx headcanons, I watched and loved the show as a little girl, and have since grown into a huge sci-fi nerd, so your redesigns are right up my alley, and I love that you put some unique traits into each of the girls since theyâre from different planets. Itâs so much more interesting! (1/2)
(TEXT:Â I also wanted to ask if you were gonna give the girls designs for faunix and your transformations between harmonix and nymphix??? I understand if you just havenât gotten there yet, I havenât been up to date with the show since season four and I donât really know the order they achieve the transformations, but they sound fascinating and Iâm curious. I also couldnât find if youâd answered that before, so I thought Iâd ask. Anyways, thank you for sharing your vision! I love your art!
TEXT:I forgot to put 2/2 on the second ask, which was the one about your fan-transformations, Iâm sorry TâT)
No worries!! Thank you so much!!!!! its my favorite thing to add little weird tidbits to the characters so im very happy everybody like them all so much. And yes! I will be giving the girls designs in Faunix(my replacement for butterflix) i need to do mythix first tho lol. I might get around to designing all of them in Nymphix and my fan transformations, but weâll have to see how long that takes lmao sry im so slow.
If ur curious here are what im thinking the fan transformation look like! (yes im using ur ask as an opportunity to talk about them im excited sry)
so after getting harmonix there are four other transformations that branch out from it, together theyâre called the elementix. you can use harmonix with out attempting any of the other transformations to boost ur general elemental powers but only by a small amount.Â
hair is up and out of the way with an accessory.
fin like ribbed wings, complement the fin patterns but are unique.
1-2 arm accessories.Â
shiny bodice with mesh cut out and ruffled sheer skirt.
section of the body that changes with this transformation are the legs, so you gotta short merfolk tail.
fins on forearms and sides of tail are the same pattern.
primary fin complement the smaller fins and wings but are unique(usually most complex)
fairyâs number of wings match the number of fins (ex. flora and daphne are single wing, bloom and musa are double, and stella is a triple)Â
achieved through completing the sirenix quest(three gems then go to the source). before daphneâs spirit was tied to the source a fairy who didnât complete the quest would lose their magic for 3 years, but would keep her physical body, after daphneâs spirit was tied to it any one who tried to complete the quest would begin to fade into a spirit whether they succeed or failed. after daphne got her physical body back the sirenix source returned to normal.
grants entry to the infinite ocean.
water transformation of the elementix set.
selkie equivalent are the selkies obvi
ive already drawn this one in full for the winx, but imma put it here anyways.
hair is loose, sometimes braided, with flowers.
foliage/floral style wings, veins are more glowy.
arms are asymmetrical, usually one sheer. Â
fabric on shoulder but not torso.
section of the body that changes with this transformation is the torso, so you gotta rib cage filled with flowers and leaves.
wide puffy skirt, usually two tone.
socks can be any length
simple boots, no sandals or straps.
achieved through completing the dryadix quest, which is similar to the sirenix one with similar consequences for failing.
grants entry to the immortal forest.
earth transformation of the elementix set.
selkie equivalent are the kodama.
FRICK I SPELLED IT WRONG SRY ITS SUPPOSED TO BE PHOENIX.
section of the body that changes with this transformation is the head, so you got glowy flame hair and pupiless eyes. Fire is the color of the fairyâs magic.
feathers surrounded by flame style wings.
metallic and structured neck accessory, matches wrist cuffs.
metallic bodice/corset
fins on forearms and sides of tail are the same pattern.
flowy draped fabric in a light color, some have shorts underneath
sheer pleated fabric falling from shoulders and connecting to fingers
achieved through completing the phoenix quest, which is similar to the sirenix one with similar consequences for failing.
grants access to the eternal flame.
fire transformation of the elementix set.
selkie equivalent are the djinns.
hair is half up.
feathers plus air current style wings.
section of the body that changes with this transformation are the arms, so you got bird wings, has 2-3 colors.
vest over shirt or bandeau
some kind of knotted fabric with long ties
puffy shorts or skirt
wrapped fabric around legs
achieved through completing the harpix quest, which is similar to the sirenix one with similar consequences for failing.
grants access to the endless storm.
air transformation of the elementix set.
selkie equivalent are the sylphs.
after you acheive all four of the elementix transformations, you can approach the ethereal fairies and be granted nymphix, which is actually more powerful than enchantix because its basically four transformations in one. achieving this transformation allows a fairy to use powerful spells even with not transformed, and gives a connection to the fairyâs surroundings that is otherwise unattainable. Nymphs hold immense power, both magically and politically. Theyâre the oneâs in charge of approving a new transformation, and magical disputes among different realms, kind of like a supreme court.

Degtyarev Lair Review (#176329)
You had me at âChernobyl, but with dragons.â Then, when I looked in your lair, you had a tank. Not a dragon who is tank-like in their size and strength, but a literal metal tank that shoots ice spears and has a clouddancer living on it. I do not know what magic I must have worked to bring your lair into my life but, holy smokes, this is probably the most unique lore turn I have ever seen on Flight Rising and is abso-freakinâ-lutely a joy to go through. Special I-didnât-choose-you-but-I-love-you-anyway to Flammenwerfer. He werfs flammen.
Anyway. Moving on.
Amaroq is an impressive Tundra anyway you turn it. Despite the normally cheerful and cute appearance of the breed, thereâs just something intimidating about this bad boy. Maybe itâs the chains, maybe itâs the ghost tertiary, or maybe itâs just everything about him. Iâm willing to bet itâs the latter.
I donât know if itâs intentional, but everything about him screams âGaoler.â I adore the use of his apparel, often clunky pieces that overwhelm a dragon used liberally without making him look too cluttered. I love how each piece coincides with his natural coloration, giving a cohesive look that seamlessly bleeds from armor to fur to scales to ice, always leading the eye and never disrupting the flow. And speaking of his coloration, I like the use of the dark, shining primary with the light, more matte tertiary. He very much looks like a skeleton frozen in a block of dirty ice, and that is a creepy aesthetic I can totally get behind.
You have a knack for making up some really nice Tundras, and Arkadiusz is no exception. Like Amaroq, heâs one hell of a flight rep with clever color matching and a very distinct personality about him. I like the colors chosen for him; anymore, you typically see copper or cyan or some combination of the two when it comes to Lightning representatives, so the use of darker blues with the carrot stain to further mute them is actually quite neat to see. Itâs still very fitting and, in my opinion, complements the actual Lightning festival apparel better than the brighter hues that are more common. This is especially true with the aforementioned stained gene, which âbrownsâ him down to match his outfit better.
Again, you did a kickass job of using more cluttered apparel without making the dragon look cluttered, which (in my experience) is very, VERY hard to do with the Lightning apparel. It all just covers so much, is typically bulky, and is very hard to match together (the coat and the more brassy âfaux limbsâ like his mechajets typically donât look all too great combined). Yet, you subverted this by using the tome, with brighter metal bits that help tie the lighter golds of his feet in with the rest of his outfit. Itâs a very clever move.
Beretta. Just⌠Beretta. Iâm going in alphabetical order (because I saved all the dragons I wanted to use on my computer and it alphabetized them for me), but Beretta is hands down my favorite of your lair. Sheâs eye-catching and cleverly dressed, bright and oozing and downright radioactive. You canât really get past her on your scout tab without having to click on her, because sheâs just that goddamn unique. And thatâs coming from somebody who hates pants on dragons. Iâm willing to overlook them because holy shit.
Just, the use of smirch here to blend into her grasp apparel is incredibly smart move, and perfect. Combined with her plague accent, she just reeks of something impossible, grotesque, and harmful. Just the thumbnail of her--what with the focus of green on her snout and spreading away the further you go back, combined with the female Mirror posing--makes her look like some irradiated alien creature plummeting out of the sky like a comet made of pure nuclear waste. Just, sheâs an A+ dragon and you should be very proud to have her because sheâs amazing. Absolutely AMAZING.
JohannaCash caught my eye first in your lair because, after such a long time of sighing at cowboy dragons and never being able to find a way to make any of those frilly dress sets work, I found myself noticing her and going, âOh, so thatâs how you make it work.â
Sheâs a beautiful dragon, dressed in a way that I never thought would work out but rocking every bit of that apparel like a champ. Her colors go well with her outfit, said outfit is amazingly coordinated, and the female Skydancer posing keeps it from looking like a lump drowning in lace and ruffles. She gives off a very distinct âoutlawâ vibe, and the color selection for her (mostly browns, I mean) almost lend an â1800s photographâ look to it. She looks like she was straight-up ripped from a Sornieth wanted poster. And donât even get me started on how suiting her familiar is (jackalopes + western themed dragons = match made in heaven) or how clever the halo of flames is as a reference (as the bio says, âRing of Fire, babyâ). This is just⌠this is just an amazing dragon. Sheâs close to beating Beretta for first place.
Mauser is just a pleasing dragon to look at, and comes across as a lot more âchillâ than some of your dragons. Maybe itâs the softer palette of browns or the hippie bead necklace, but sheâs yet again one of those âdragons in pantsâ that I actually like.
First off, her colors are amazing and her genes complement them well. The contrast in her cherub make her lighter colors shine much brighter, and the selection of colors in her seraph do well to bring her outfit home, adding paler elements that coincide with her aviator scarf and arctic pants. I also like the elements of blue added by her steampunk goggles and her aforementioned âhippie beads,â as turquoise and brown are always a winning combination that is incredibly pleasing to the eye. Beyond that, the art in her bio is hella cute and, like her outfit, gives her a touch of personality that makes her all the more endearing.
Halfway done and we come to Nebulae, who is an amalgamation of everything people typically pick apart in a dragon as âbadâ but somehow works. A lot of folks arenât too keen on the original armor helms (well, âoriginalâ armor helms) or the use of gembond on a dragon, but I donât think sheâd have half as much of an impact without them. The âfaceless guardâ vibe she gives off is very intimidating, and the gembond meshes well with her icicle chains to give the impression of a dragon who is, quite literally, armored by the elements. It just makes her look rougher, tougher, and harder to take down, which Iâm assuming is the intention considering her bio snippet.
Her colors are wonderful, too. Her primary is somehow very subtle, and it took me a while of staring to realize she wasnât an entirely white dragon. Her apparel is placed perfectly so that the fade of her iridescent gives the impression of being a part of her armor. Even her fins and belly look more like theyâre cast in shadow than actually charcoal. Additionally, going back to her icicle chains: they donât look unnatural, like they do on a lot of other dragons. They match so well with her secondary that they essentially become a part of her, and itâs fabulous.
I have a weakness for Plague dragons, I wonât lie. Choosing Ruumis wasnât just because she is gorgeous, but pure bias and legitimate awe at how good of a Plague dragon she is. She strikes a wonderful balance between beauty and brutality, being dolled up in the typical Wyrmwound fare while still flowing and retaining an air of elegance about her. In other words, sheâs a very pretty dragon who looks like sheâll break every bone in your body.
Her colors and her apparel, again, match perfectly and I love the bleached, diseased look that her piebald and paint genes give her, as well as the curious way her genes make the gem on her forehead look. I was half convinced that had to be some kind of effect from her apparel or an accent, and had to take her to the scrying workshop to realize that âbullseyeâ look was just from paint. And, while her bio is still incomplete, I had a giggle at the bits that are done, including her implied methods of âpunch first, negotiate laterâ and the fact she has all the charisma of a angry wolverine. It seems very, very fitting.
This girl looks like Mattel produced a cosmic horror and I love every bit of it. Sheâs a Barbie pink monster covered in daunting crystal spines, breathing out the void like smoke, with beady little Guardian eyes that seem to glow with the contrast given by her accent and her poison gene. I honestly donât know whatâs not to like here.
First of all, the shardhide shines on Guardians and it looks especially fitting on Sirli, especially considering the way the spikes fade from neon pink to darker purples, just like her poison and toxin. The cosmic gradient given to her by her accent also helps it âgrowâ into the rest of her, looking less like a piece of added apparel than bits of her actual default artwork that should be there. The touch of brighter purples with her sylvan apparel and tail feathers also add visual interest with pops of color that keep her from looking too flat, which I think was necessary considering the fact sheâs a triple and the bulk of her apparel teeters on being the same color as she is. A wise decision that worked out very well.
I feel kind of bad that I keep fishing out of your scouts, but you have a lot of lovely Mirrors with Steyr being chief among them. Itâs so infrequent to find a âclassyâ Mirror on the site, considering folksâ tendency to (understandably) bring out their ferocity or play to their Plague roots, and that creepy, fierce vibe would have been a pretty easy direction for you to go in considering her ghost tertiary (which, I honestly thought was part of her accent for a moment). And there is something certainly haunting to this beautiful girl, but she seems far more refined than sinister.
First of all, that accent when combined with her candles is amazing, since they play off of each other with the wisps of smoke and a near inversion of colors (black smoke on gold wings, gold smoke on black candles). The decision to go light on apparel was a wise one, too, as it keeps her from looking overly cluttered and lets her natural beauty shine through.
Additionally, on a fun note, I realized that Steyr is actually the older sister of my dragon, Zafirbel. Itâs like Seven Degrees of Kevin Bacon, man, but with dragons!
Again, I love a good Plague dragon, and while I was impressed by Steyrâs diversion from the typical Mirror fare, half the reason I love Zverskiy so much is because he doesnât just go for the trope. He owns it. This is, perhaps, one of the nicest Plague Mirrors Iâve ever seen, and as a former Plagueling myself, Iâve seen (and owned) a lot.
I donât know exactly how to describe it, but he has a sort of âundeadâ vibe that straddles the line between lich and vampire. He looks fierce and menacing without resorting to the typical âbloody flesh beastâ look that so many others go for (I say, while kicking my own so-called âskinlessâ Mirror under a rug). His cream ghost tertiary goes so well with that accent that I had to double-check my own dragon in said skincent to see what was or wasnât a part of it, and he rocks that carapace arm like nobody would believe. Iâm most impressed of all by just how hodge-podge his apparel is, coming from a half-dozen different sets that I would have never thought to mix, but creating a cohesive and intimidating outfit that makes him seem ready for war. Dudeâs a 100%, Grade-A monster, and thatâs just wonderful.

Here is my 31058 Triple Transformer, my second alternate for 31058!
It options three modesâa robotic, a airplane, and a frog. The frog mode is somewhat fragile in some locations, however the robotic and airplane modes maintain themselves collectively fairly properly.
Robot mode options: Moving arms Moving legs Moving head Can pose in nearly any place and will not fall over
Plane mode options: Moving wings (up and down, otherwise you tilt them forwards) Tail fins Back engines with glowing âfireplace.â
Frog mode options: Moving back and front legs Moving head
I attempted to incorporate a number of photos of the transformation course of, however simply to ensure it is clear Iâve made an inventory of the steps ranging from airplane mode, which is the mode the directions construct it in:
From airplane mode to robotic mode: 1. Fold down the legs 2. Push the bar that holds the tail fins as far ahead (in direction of the entrance of the airplane) as potential 3. Stand the robotic up 4. Turn the fingers (ideas of wings) right-side up 5. Unfold the roboticâs head 6. Fold the tail fins behind the roboticâs head
To change again to airplane mode, simply comply with the steps in reverse order.
From airplane mode to frog mode: 1. Flip the entire airplane the other way up. What was the again of the airplane is now the pinnacle of the frog 2. Hinge the tail fins down so theyâre now the frogâs entrance legs 3. Flip the wings in order that the sleek inexperienced components are dealing with upwards 4. Hinge the wings from the center joint down 5. Take the ideas of the wings and fold them so the facet right-side up on the bottom and face outward. These are the ft.
For the very best consequence, please have the images helpful if you remodel between modes for the primary couple of occasions. I had quite a lot of enjoyable constructing this MOC, and I hope youâll too!
If you take pleasure in seeing my work and obtain quite a lot of my constructing directions, I might respect donations of any quantity to paypal.me/Turbo8702. Thanks!

Virgin Orbit to expand launch business, move into satellite services

Virgin Orbit to expand launch business, move into satellite services
COLORADO SPRINGS â Virgin Orbit will use the proceeds of a merger with a special-purpose acquisition company to expand its launch business and develop a satellite constellation for internet-of-things and Earth observation services.
Virgin Orbit announced Aug. 23 that it will merge with NextGen Acquisition Corp. II, a SPAC, in a deal expected to close at the end of this year. The deal includes a concurrent $100 million funding round backed by Boeing and AE Industrial Partners, providing Virgin Orbit with as much as $483 million in capital before transaction expenses.
Greg Summe, co-founder of NextGen, said in an investor call that he established the SPAC earlier this year to âfind a high-growth technology company with a rapidly growing market, highly differentiated capability and an outstanding leadership team. We have found the perfect partner in Virgin Orbit.â
In a presentation released by Virgin Orbit Aug. 23, the company projected increasing its revenue by a factor of more than 100 over the next five years. The company estimates $15 million in revenue in 2021 but forecasts double- and triple-digit percentage growth through 2026, reaching $2.06 billion.
The majority of that revenue would come from its current launch business, using its LauncherOne rocket that is air-launched from a Boeing 747. About 40% of the proceeds of the deal would go toward scaling up production of the LauncherOne system, including investments in advanced manufacturing capabilities.
Summe and Dan Hart, chief executive of Virgin Orbit, emphasized the advantages of air launch during the investor call. âOur approach gives us tremendous efficiency,â Hart said, and provides advantages from reduced environmental impacts to being able to operate from many airports.
In both the presentation and the call, they also claimed that LauncherOne was cheaper than its competitors. Hart said that his company offers âthe lowest cost per kilogram in the market,â but did not disclose a specific cost number. Virgin Orbit had been widely seen in the industry as more expensive that some of its competitors who offer small launch vehicles, while SpaceX has offered a low-cost option â $1 million for 200 kilograms, or $5,000 per kilogram â for smallsat rideshare payloads.
While neither Hart nor Summe discussed details of LauncherOne development, the company plans to spend 35% of the proceeds of the deal on research and development, such as launch upgrades. The investor presentation briefly outlined a âfuture technology development roadmapâ that includes upgrades to the rocket to roughly double its payload performance to 500â600 kilograms. The company is studying an upper stage and orbital transfer vehicle as well as evaluating the ability to recover and reuse the first stage.
The presentation also included a concept called LauncherTwo, with a rocket mounted on top of the 747 rather than under its left wing like LauncherOne. The vehicle included wings and larger tail fins. That vehicle, Virgin Orbit said, offers âpotential tripling of meaningful performance increase.â
Virgin Orbitâs ambitions go beyond more and larger launch vehicles. The company says it will establish a âspace solutionsâ business, developing and launching a constellation of satellites to provide IoT and Earth observation services. Virgin Orbit foresees providing IoT services for the agriculture, aviation, maritime and pipeline monitoring markets and a âcomplete multimodal offeringâ of visible, infrared and radar imagery.
The company plans to launch its first four satellites in early 2023, two with IoT payloads and two with imagery payloads. That would be followed by a âfull constellation thereafter,â but it didnât disclose the size of the constellation or when it would be deployed.
Virgin Orbit projects its first space solutions revenue in 2023 at $10 million, growing to $436 million in 2026, or more than 20% of its total revenue forecast for that year.
Those high growth projections for both space solutions and launch services are required to be profitable. The company estimates it will have negative earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) of $155 million in 2021. It expects to near break-even in 2023 and have a positive EBITDA of $229 million in 2024, growing to $854 million in 2026.
In the presentation, Virgin Orbit estimates it will need about $420 million in cash from the second half of 2021 through 2023 to reach profitability. The company expects that, after expenses from the SPAC deal, it will net $418 million. However, that figure could decrease if NextGen shareholders elect to redeem their shares rather than participate in the merger, an issue seen in SPAC mergers both inside the space industry and in other industries in recent months.

Soul Gifts AU: Uryuu and Ichigo
So because this has bitten me but good, Iâm going to outline some other things Iâve thought of.
Via @ptsdven, Quincy Soul Gift is a horse, and the mark is across the right shoulder blade. All Quincy share this positioning and that itâs a horse, but the breed can vary depending upon the person. A Quincyâs actual mark never comes in, but remains as a pale indistinct blur somewhere else on their bodies.
Ishida Uryuu: his variant of the Quincy Soul Gift is an Akhal-Teke horse. When he temporarily loses Yhwachâs Gift, his own Soul Gift mark (over his left shoulder) resolves itself into a Raven. Uryuu doesnât know whether to be fascinated or appalled at this; heâs so accustomed to the Akhal-Tekeâs gifts of speed and strength, of the ground-eating stride and the endurance to just keep on going no matter the environment, that the Ravenâs gifts leave him feeling... fragile. Raven is fast, faster than Akhal-Teke, and so incredibly agile that Uryuu finds himself tripping over his own feet, unable to keep up with himself at times. His eyesight is sharper than ever (heâs needed to change prescriptions almost once a month as Ravenâs gifts become stronger, altering his eyes in the process) and he feels more at home in high places than ever before. And while his stamina actually hasnât decreased, he no longer has the Akhal-Tekeâs gift of strength and so can no longer take hits the way he used to.
EDIT: forgot to say what happens when Uryuu regains his Quincy abilities -- like Ichigo, his marks turn into a chimeric creature across his back. With the body of the Akhal-Teke and the wings, tail, and head of the Raven, Uryuu finds that both gifts have been tempered to an extent; heâs neither as strong as he was with the pure Akhal-Teke, nor as agile as the pure Raven. He settles for what heâs got, however, and adapts to the best of his abilities. Uryuu starts to become suspicious because of the chimeric nature of his mark, compared to how Ichigoâs mark looks.
Kurosaki Ichigo: his Soul Gift is, well... a chimeric creature spread across his back. A triple-headed beast with the body of an Arabian horse (at least in the beginning), a lionâs tail, and a shark fin atop its back, itâs heads are those of a Lioness, an Arabian, and a Shark. As the dominance of Quincy/Hollow/Human wavers in his system, the chimeric creature changes -- Quincy dominance is the Horse, Hollow dominance is the Shark, and Human dominance is the Lioness. When he sacrifices himself in the final getsuga tenshou, his Soul Gift mark alters to be a Lioness with a sharkâs fin and horseâs tail. When he regains the other parts of himself, the chimeric appearance is back, but this time the Lioness remains dominant.

@tyrantisterrorâ - Just because I feel like it, a couple more dragons for your bestiary! (too bad the submit page can only send in one picture at a time :c)
Hesperidian Goose Wyvern - Based on a 1563 engraving showcased in the British Museum. Often found near or in bodies of water, this relatively small Wyvern has a powerful whip-like tail for both water propulsion and combat, which combined with its webbed feet and flipper-like wings make it a powerful swimmer, but not a good flier. It has the temper and vigil of a guard goose, and is frequently employed for the same purpose. The sacs on its belly are sometimes mistaken for certain bits of female anatomy, particularly when they flush with blood and inflate as a threat display.
Scarlet Pike-Dragon - Named for its spear-like tail spade, this Greater Drake uses two pairs of wings and numerous tail fins to fly with great agility. Aggressive to even its own kind, itâs said that a stab from its tail can pierce cleanly through plate armor.
Burne-Jonesâ Blackmaw Drake - Based on an 1868 painting by Edward Coley Burne-Jones. This Acidfang Lesser Drake has a thickened hide on its back like a rhinoceros, reinforced with black armored scales and plates that can repel even lance thrusts, but its sides and belly are much weaker. Itâs named for the black inner lining of its mouth, which it flashes as a warning before spitting a particularly virulent venom.
Knotspine Knucker - A freshwater Greater Drake with a very slender, sinuous body and tiny, vestigial wings. Its venom is relatively weak, so it relies on constriction to kill prey. Named for its habit of coiling its body into a tight knot when threatened like a ball python.
Fork-Tailed Lindworm - A small but fiesty Lindworm with prominent ear-frills and a triple-forked tail which is the source of its name; the middle tail has a spade thatâs been modified into a small club, while the side tails are tipped with large, brightly colored frills which it waves about as a display of virility.
Bull-Drake - A Lesser Drake with a wide, cow-like snout and a pair of long, curving horns which it uses to gore its prey. Males have longer horns than females and will fight over mates and territory by locking horns and attempting to pierce each othersâ necks or heads.
St. Margaretâs Zilant - Pure white and notoriously gluttonous, the first documented specimen was slain by a dragon-slayer called Lady Margaret, who cut her way out of its stomach after being swallowed whole. It has a looser, more flexible skull than other dragons and can unhinge its jaw to swallow prey up to the size of a human whole.
Spotted Facebiter - A small but dangerous Greater Drake with a taste for the flesh of primates, including humans and even smaller ogres. Its jaws are stronger than average for its size and bristle with fangs that can pierce bone; it likes to dispatch victims by crushing their skulls.
