Her Reign
a/n: Hello, my Fabulous Readers! Would you like to take a trip down Memory Lane with me? Boy, do I have a treat for y'all...
When I was just starting to write my fanfics 8 - 9 years ago, before I fell into major Writer's Block, and went on my forced Hiatus, I wrote this fic for a good friend. Because back then, she drew Steve fanart for me, and I wrote Loki fics for her.
Fast forward to this year, I'm looking through my old notes in my notes apps, low and behold I find a handful of fic ideas and half-written, unfinished fics. And honestly, young me literally had the best fic ideas š I realize that they're basically my very own Vaults! They couldn't have came on a better time, when I want to connect to my younger self, and remember what it was like, when life wasn't as complicated.
Ofcourse, it's not completely the original story, present me needed to polish the rough patches in the story, because specific timeline when this was written, was roughly somewhere before Endgame after Infinity War...š
And I also need to make sure, it's semi-accurate to the current MCU, for my own sake.
But still, I hope y'all will enjoy reading this one, all the same.
Loki Odinson x Y/n Y/L/N's Daughter, Lucy Laufeyson
Requested: No
WARNINGS: Loki's Death(seriously doesn't need to be a questionš), Abusive, clichĆ© Evil Step-parent, Allusion to the abuse Y/n goes through, Lucy imagining and enacting revenge(and justice) on Evil Step-Parent, Lucy goes ape-shit, Loki would be proud. Story goes way dark(not GOT Dark, but still, pretty dark). Written by me, when I was still fairly new to writing, so sorry for the errors present Me isn't able to fix.

Enjoy!
Loki looking at Lucy from Valhalla...
It was a typical day for the Avengers in the Avenger Compound. Agents of every kind, rushed here and there, to finish their duties. In one of the lower floors underground, lived the Avengers. Each had their own apartment. But they liked to spend time together, in the common room. And today was no exception.
The room was full of chaos. From the sounds of a certain Captain's daughter crying, because she fell down while attempting to walk, with her doting mother and older brother trying to calm her down, to Peter Parker, Bruce Banner and Dr. Stephen Strange devising a way to make their tactical suits more durable, and more accommodating to the various shapes and sizes each individual, human, alien or super, has.
Lucy Laufeyson is among the chaotic bunch. Born and raised together with James Anthony Rogers, making her pretty much used to everything that happens around here, around her considered-extended family. She'd been living with the Avengers and her Uncle Thor Odinson, in an effort to avoid her Step-Father, Grey Wallace. Well, specifically to avoid hurting, said man.
From the moment her grandmother, from her mother, Y/n Y/L/N's side, had told her that she was to have a Step-Father, she knew that it would take a lot of strength and maturity. For she knew Gray wasn't a good man. He abused her mother and basically, forced her to have his child. Luckily, Lucy could never hate her younger Brother, Greyson. She hated his sperm donor.
Before Loki died, he had written a note to every member of his family. For Thor, Y/n, and especially Lucy. The one for her, specified that he wanted Thor to take his family to New Asgard, where he hoped to be laid to rest.
Once his request was fulfilled, she decided to take her father's name and use it to make a legacy of her own in her new home. Despite this, it didn't stop her from imagining enacting her revenge on Grey. She hated everything he did to her mother, and today is living proof of that.
"Hey James. Nice shield." Lucy smirked, it looks uncannily like her Father's.
"Oh, Lucy... Hi... I-I-I was just borrowing this from Dad." James answered, turning pinker by the minute.
"Calm down, Rogers. I was just teasing." Lucy said, playfully boxing his arm.
"Besides, I'm not here as often as I used to. Just for old times sake."
"Sometimes I wonder how we've been friends, since birth." James sighed.
"Come on... you know you love me, Cap Jr." Lucy smirked again, living for the reaction she gets, from her dear sweet James.
"Excuse me, Ms. Laufeyson, but Ms. Alexa is here." Tony's AI, JAKASTA, said.
"Thanks, JAKASTA." Lucy replied.
"See you later, Rogers." She added, patting the side of his pink face on her way out.
Lucy walked from the training room, through endless hallways, with Agents working and training, as well as the scientist conducting tests and experiments, of all kinds, to the elevator, that will take her down to the Lobby. Her heart leapt with excitement. She always loved seeing her Mother, and her younger Brother, whenever they came for a visit. Preferably without her infamous Step-Father, who in her opinion, descended straight from Hell.
A few minutes later, she arrived at the Lobby, where she knew the people her Family, would be waiting. She pushed open the only door, separating her from the Lobby, and saw her mother for the first time in months. Beautiful but bruised and slightly battered. Loki would hate Grey.
"Mom!" Lucy called.
"Hello Lucy." Y/n replied, looking up from talking to Y/O/N Rogers, her best friend since before meeting the loves of their lives.
Lucy walked a little faster and went to give her mother a gentle but firm hug.
"What am I? A chameleon? Where's my hug?!" Lucy's younger brother, Greyson, asked/exclaimed.
"Hello to you, too, Baby Brother." Lucy smirked, going in to hug her sibling.
"It's always a gem, to see you both together like this!" Alexa cried, tears forming in her eyes.
"We really need to catch up." Greyson said with a smile, taking Lucy's hand.
Sometime later, the family sat in a restaurant downtown, enjoying the food and coffee, while catching up and sharing stories with one another.
"And he just ran and ran and BOOM! Homerun!" Alexa finished, with pride in her eyes as she looked at her son.
"It was nothing, really. Honest." Greyson said, blushing at the attention.
"Changing the subject, how are you and your so-called 'childhood bestfriend, not potential lover', Dear Sister." Greyson teased.
"I told you the last time, Greyson. We're just friends. Nothing more. Nothing less." Lucy replied, as a matter of factly.
"Now, why don't I believe that?" Greyson muttered, under his breath.
"Shut up." Lucy replied, with a playful shove towards him.
"It's so nice to see you both getting along." Alexa said, wistful.
"I would be happier if that lousy excuse of a Step-Father is six feet under and never ever coming back." Lucy commented, scooping up some of her food into her mouth.
"Lucy-" Alexa started, wiping her eyes, before opening her arms towards her daughter.
"I mean it, Mom. He's hurt you enough." Lucy replied.
"Dad wouldn't want this for you..." She added, taking her Mother's hand, and rolling up the sleeve a little to reveal the marks hidden underneath.
"Sorry, Mom. But I agree with Lucy. If he hadn't hurt you, and continued to hurt you, things might've been different." Greyson replied, as Y/n pulled her hand away, and pulled her sleeves down, even further than before.
"I know three days ago wasn't the best wedding anniversary..." She started to explain.
"WHAT THE HELL DID HE DO THIS TIME?!" Lucy exclaimed, her anger boiling up to the surface.
"It's nothing, Lucy." Alexa sighed.
"It isn't just nothing, Mom! It's always something." Lucy raised her voice. Her eyes being drawn to the sleeve that her Mother, so desperately, was using to try to hide the marks from her, earlier.
"This is the last straw! He's been doing this ever since you married him. It needs to stop." Lucy announced, with finality and determination.
"Lucy, no. It's fine. I'm used to it." Alexa replied, unshed tears glistening in her eyes.
"I told you, Mom. He's hurt you enough." Lucy repeated, before standing up.
"I've had enough." She growled, before walking away with purpose and determination, with Y/n's and Greyson's voices calling behind her. Falling on deaf ears.
Grey Wallace was walking from his office building to his car. It had been a long day, and he was looking forward to having a beer when he got home. He was practically skipping down the road, until he felt like someone was watching him, from the shadows. Shrugging it off as paranoia, he continued walking.
He finally arrived at his car, ready to unlock it when he was forcefully, pushed against his car. His arms painfully pinned against his back.
"Who are you? What do you want? If you want my money, take it. I-It's yours." Grey said in a panic, words coming out in quick succession.
"I don't want, nor do I need your money." The figure, behind him, replied.
"Then, w-what do you want?" Grey asked again, shaking to the bone.
"I want justice for my Mother." The figure replied, a sinister smile slowly beginning to form on her face.
"I-I don't even know y-your Mother." Grey cried, before being turned around, and pinned to the side of his car.
"Oh, don't act coy, now... You know my Mother... In fact you know her very well, that you've taken to hurting her for about 5 years, now. Isn't that right, Step-Father?" The figure said, her face coming into the light.
"Lu-Lucy..." Grey gasped, not believing his eyes.
"That's right. And I have come to make sure you'll never lay another hand on my Mother, ever again." Lucy said, before turning into her Jotun form and punching her Step-Father.
Grey's world turned black.
His eyes burst open, and he quickly looked around in a panic. Remembering the terrifying sight of his Step-Daughter, before she knocked him unconscious. He sighed in relief, when he found that he's all alone in his Hospital Room.
"Think you're safe, Step-Father?" Lucy said, appearing out of nowhere.
"Lucy... Lucy... Whatever I've done to you and Y/n, I'm sorry." Grey pleaded.
"You think that's enough?! You think that sorry will take away all you've done to her?! To the both of us?!" Lucy exclaimed, her bright green eyes turning red.
"You're lucky, I only left you with a concussion, and a punctured lung. I would have killed you on the spot, had I not made myself promise Mom not to hurt you too badly." She added.
"Lucy, please I beg you..." Grey begged.
"Oh, now you're begging me." Lucy cackled.
"Like how Mom begged you to let her go, every single hellish night..." She continued, her features slowly changing.
"Lucy, you need help. Y-you don't look well. Y-you're blue!" Grey exclaimed.
"Oh, don't pretend like you care. You never did." Lucy snapped.
"Why are you turning blue?!" Grey shrieked, panicked, his monitor blaring at his increasing heartrate.
"Let me answer your question with this question: Have you ever wondered why we never told you about my birth Father? Why no one ever spoke of him?" Lucy said, lightly caressing the tube that re-inflated his lung.
"Well, the answer is quite simple actually. I'm the daughter of Loki of Asgard." Lucy said, turning full Jotun, and staring right into Grey's eyes.
"Y-You-You're the daughter of Loki Laufeyson, the one who invaded the planet?" Grey asked, trying to scurry away but couldn't. bound to the bed by the very tubes and wires that are helping him.
"Yes. So, if I were you... I'd be glad, that I spared your life. I may seem all sweet and innocent, but trust me when I say this..." Lucy added, slightly squeezing the tube. Blocking it from keeping his lung inflated.
Grey started to feel a tightness in his chest. Unable to catch his breath, from fear, and distress.
"I'm so much worse than my Father. So much worse." Lucy growled. Releasing her grip on the tube.
Allowing Grey to finally able to relax and breathe better and regularly, now.
"You're just lucky I made a promise to my Mother. Had I not, I would have done so much worse." Lucy added, getting up and leaving.
"Leave my Mother alone, or a collapsed lung and concussion won't be the most excruciating thing you'll ever experience." Lucy said, turning back to look at him.
"I give you my word, Step-Father." She added, turning into back her human form, her eyes glowing red for a second before going back to green.
Grey shook with fear, causing Lucy to smirk. And with that, she turned and left.
Lucy walked through the hospital doors and out, before opening a portal in the middle of the driveway and walking through it. Taking her home to New Asgard.
When she stepped out of the portal, her red leather jacket, stripped sleeveless blouse, leggings and boots, instantly turned into a long, green, mermaid style dress with a shimmering light green cape, connected in the back.
Her raven black hair curled, pulled back, half up, half down, and a complicated gold head piece with it. She walked to the kingdom, where everyone who saw her, bowed respectfully.
She made her way into the Palace, where her Keeper eagerly greeted her at the entrance. For a man, who was about 1,000 years old, give or take, he definitely could keep up with Lucy's long strides.
"Your Ladyship! The King has gone to Wakanda on business, but there are some matters of great importance to attend to." The man explained, pointing to the long list of matters, needing her immediate attention.
"I shall deal with all the problems one by one. I want to make sure everything is dealt with, accordingly." Lucy announced, taking a seat on the throne.
"Lady Loki, the people are waiting for you." The court announcer told her.
"Send them in." She answered, as the guards allowed the people to come inside. Which little by little, she solved all of them. Loki's Daughter, Y/n and Greyson's fiercest protector, Asgard's warrior, and Valkyrie's Right Hand, Lady Lucy.
a/n: I hope you all enjoyed it! Despite the errors, and the dark stuff... Maybe this'll lead me to upload other, more worthy fics in the Future.
We'll see.
Until next time!

Reading Break - Worms & Spiders
Featured Art: MotaArt: (above) Rick Leonardi & Al Williamson:Ā Spider-man 2099 #1 Mark Bagley & Art Thibert:Ā Ultimate Spider-man #11 Patrick Olliffe: Amazing Spider-man Family #3
Welp!
Itās been longer since I last posted here than I'd hoped it would be.Ā Unfortunately, Iāve had to prioritize work for the time being, and itāll probably be a little while longer before I have the opportunity to post my next episode review [TNG ep. 123 will be next in line, when I do finally get to it].Ā In lieu of writing, Iāve been trying to be at least bit more mindful with my downtime, avoiding the various social media timewasters, and taking more time to read.
For my "serious" reading, Iāve been slowly picking away at āGod Emperor of Duneā, which is pretty fucking trippy.Ā Seriously, If you thought the first book was weird, then Iām here to tell you that whatever "spice" Frank Herbert was using, he upped the dose exponentially for each subsequent entry.Ā Iāve read a lot of disparaging reviews and comments online about āGod Emperorā that led me to believe it might be pompous and dull, but Iāve honestly found it to be thoroughly engaging, though admittedly subject-at-times to some ignorant world views.
For my "fun" reading, my recent reviews of āSpider-man: TASā have inspired me to peruse through my old Spidey comics, which have been a real trip down memory lane (and very on-brand for this blog). The two series Iāve been bouncing between are the original āUltimate Spider-manā from the early 00ās, and āSpider-man 2099ā (early 90ās).Ā I remember when each respective series was first being released, and how cutting edge each of them seemed.Ā Overall, Iād say they hold up decently well, although clearly products of their time.
āSpider-man 2099ā is unsurprisingly the more noticeably dated of the two, and a lot of that comes down to the now-unmistakeable 90ās aesthetic, along with the somewhat clunky āfuture slangā, which seems to predominantly consist of substituting profanity with vaguely techno-sounding-words. Ā If you donāt know what the Shock Iām talking about you can go look it up for yourself. But Itās Rick Leonardiās artwork where the book really stands out to me, though.Ā I always thought he was an underappreciated artist, and deserved a proper run on ASM, but 2099 probably gave him a better opportunity to flex his talents.
I feel like a lot of people forget today (as I suppose they inevitably tend to) that Ultimate Spider-man was once THE hottest Spider book on the market, and while reboots-featuring-a-teenage-peter-parker may be a dime a dozen today, it was a breath of fresh air in the year 2000.Ā Itās easy to see why too, Bendis and Bagley work great together, and it didnāt hurt that Marvel spared no expense on the physical presentation of the book.Ā Simply put, each issue looks sharp, from the digitally painted cardstock covers, to the glossy pages; this was a book with high production values, featuring top tier talent. No expense was spared in making sure the artists were featured in the best possible light.
One thing Iāve canāt help but notice is the differences in attitudes and ideals between the two books. I know a lot of people like to pretend that comics were less political āback in the dayā but thatās never been true.Ā I do think that politics have sometimes been easier to ignore during times of less civil unrest, but clearly the writers have always had opinions and ideals that were being expressed whether they knew it or not.Ā For instance, Peter Davidās work on 2099 seems to lean more politically left, and is notably quite critical of nationalist, corporate, and capitalist interests, depicting a world that feels (in some ways) more relevant now than it was back when the series was being released.
Comparatively, Bendisā writing seems to play it a bit safer.Ā He appears largely progressive in his social views, but also less willing to criticize institutions like the military or government beyond anything on a surface level.Ā I canāt say itās too surprising, since āUltimate Spider-manā only began itās run shortly before the 9/11 attacks, and I can imagine that even if he were inclined to do so, Bendis would have likely received pushback from anything deemed too politically controversial. But some of his writing leads me to suspect he falls towards a more politically centrist stance, resulting in a book that, while being LOADS of fun, has perhaps less to say on certain social issues. Some people might argue itās for the best, but I kinda like it when writers are willing to get a bit messy, as I think it makes for more interesting discourse.Ā But then again, maybe Iāll find myself eating these words as I continue my read through.
I think thatās enough musing from me.Ā The fact remains that each of the artists Iāve discussed in this post are far more accomplished than I will likely ever be.Ā Ā At any rate these criticisms are really more just meandering observations, about which I could easily change my mind later on.Ā Hopefully Iāll have more time to focus on my proper episode reviews in the coming months.
But if youāve made it this far, thanks for hanging out.

Who was responsible for every failure, who was lurking in the shadows every time Fires found itself backed into check? Mr Fires stabbed a talon through the wanted poster on the wall. Alexander Hastings.
Good evening. Tonight, two of them present you with this: a good old-fashioned dark fic with the Masters being hot while scary and Alex being hot while getting thrown in the wiggler. We just think it's fun to consider the player facing scary consequences for annoying the Masters hehe.
Not part of the main continuity we have with these two, but Prophet recently posted art of Alex hurt, just because, and I decided to compile and edit the various little dark fics I've written for them over the years. In a weird way I'm feeling fond; this project was a trip down memory lane, recalling the earliest days of our friendship and seeing how my writing style has grown and changed over the years <3
Please do mind the tags! Read it here

Jungkook x reader
"Take my hands now,"
Pairing: non!idol jungkook x fem!reader
Genre: high-school/College AU, friends to lovers
Warings:none
A/N: Euphoria is such a gorgeous and meaningful song and it's Festa season. So I thought I would finally write a lovely fanfic for our lovely boy
Songs to listen to while reading:
You sat on a wooden bench in your local playground. It was around 5pm so there were no kids around but this park was a good place to get some air. It was the first week of June and it suddenly hit you. Your in grade 12 and your going to graduate in a few weeks. More like a few days and you didn't have a clue as to what you were going to do. You have many little hobbies that could spark into a career, but what to choose...
You rested your head back on the bench and looked up at the sky. It was sunset so it was like a purple color.
"Y/N?" You heard a familiar voice say your name. You opened your eyes and looked to see who was infront of you. You sighed.
"Jungkook?" You said with a smile.
"What are you doing out here?" He said sitting down next to you.
"Needed some air...and you know trip down memory lane," you chuckled looking at the ground.
"Ah yes, this park is real special huh?" Jungkook smiled as he stared up at the slowly setting sun. This park is actually where you and Jungkook first met. When you were around 6 to 7 years old you had just moved into this neighborhood. You went to the park with your mother and as she was talking to some new neighbors you were playing. You then tripped on one of the steps and got hurt. When you looked up there was a little boy. He was wearing a dark green shirt with dinosaurs on it, dark blue leggings, and spider man sneakers.
He took one glance at you and
"Are you okay!?" He said coming over to you.
"Yeah," You said taking his hand as he helped you back up the steps.
"My names jungkook!" The boy said with a big grin.
"I'm Y/N," you said shyly. "Jungkook..."
"That's me!"
"I like your sneakers," you said pointing at them.
He thanked you and invited you to play with him and you became friends. As you were about to leave the park with your mother you found out you are neighbors.
"What are the chances!" He said as you walked up the side of the street. 11 years later and you find yourself at the same park with the same boy.
"What's on your mind," he said breaking you out of your thoughts.
"Oh nothing..." you said as you repeatedly stepped on a dandelion that was by the bench.
"No. I know somethings upsetting you," he said looking at you with those determined eyes. You couldn't help but blush, his face was so close to yours.
"Okay fine! I have a lot of things on my mind," you said looking away from him again.
"Like what?"
There was a nice breeze that messed with your hair. As jungkook awaited your response his hair swayed in the wind and the determined shines in his eyes seem to get brighter just for a moment. While you were frustrated and unable to speak. What was this feeling? Could it be love? No no that's impossible, he's just a friend. No way are you going to fall in love with your childhood friend. But...
~Jungkook's POV~
"Am I making her uncomfortable?" I thought to myself as she awkwardly stared at me. Perhaps I was being too intense, with the whole stare and confident talk. Maybe she wasn't upset at all and I'm just overreacting!? But the look in her big, E/C, eyes, and her cute, puffy, lips how does she always look so beautiful. I need to tell her how I feel. Nows a good time. Maybe if I talk first she'll join in and it'll continue all good! Just as I was about to tell her everything she spoke up.
~Your POV~
"I just don't know what to do after high-school, there's so many potential things I can do. It's overwhelming. Getting my own house and a stable job and a husband and kids and just it's so much. My parents want so much for me but I don't even know what I want!" You said as some small tears stung in the corners of your eyes. It's not like you haven't thought about this before, why are you crying now? "Sorry, I don't know what's up with me," you said gently wiping away your tears. Jungkook then pulled you into a hug.
"It's okay, you don't have to know everything all at once," he said gently petting your hair on the back of your head.
"But I feel like I do. And even the things I do know I can't even tell anyone, I'm scared," you said hugging him tight. Jungkook's expression changed for a moment before going back to his concerned gaze. He let go of the hug and looked you in your burning eyes.
"I understand and it's hard, really hard, but you have to do it at some point," he said with burning passion. You looked at him with wide eyes as your eyes started watering. You looked down at your knees as you thought about his words. "As practice tell me everything you want to say to anyone. Your parents, your teachers, your friends anyone. Let it all out,"
You took a deep breath as you prepared to do as he asked you. And as he requested you let everything out. Maybe a little too much...but he asked for it. That's when you let a little too much slip out.
"And I have a crush on you and I just can't find a way to tell you!" You immediately slapped your palm against your lips as you realized what you had just said. You stood up, eyes wide as you looked down on a star struck Jungkook. "I-I," you tried to come up with some kind of excuse as to why you said that but anything you came up just sounded stupid. "That was...a joke! Or something..." you said as your cheeks got hotter.
"You like me?" He said standing up and taking your hands in his. You sighed as you looked away from him.
"Yes," you said looking back up at him.
"I" Jungkook said before pausing again, "I like you too," he said with a little grin as he averted his gaze from you. Your face lit up when he finished his statement.
"You do?!" You said excitedly.
"No I was joking..." he said frowning.
"Oh..."
"I'm just kidding! I freakin love you and I just couldn't figure out how to tell you!" He said waving his arms around like a crazy man. You laughed at his gestures before slapping him on the arm.
"You asshole! I started panicking!" You said as you smacked him with the sleeve of your jacket. Jungkook giggled as he told you to stop hitting him. You pouted before randomly hugging him catching Jk off guard. Your stomach then growled. You buried your face in his shoulder out of embarrassment.
"Jagiya! Did you not eat dinner today!" He howled at you in shock.
"No...I guess I just got distracted," you mumbled but JK was still able to hear you loud and clear
"Let's go back to my house and I'll make you something," He said tilting his head over to his house.
"What about your parents?" You asked drawing his attention back to you.
"They're out playing some games with other old people," Jungkook laughed, his shoulders bouncing .
"Alright then," you said heading for the street. Jungkooks cold hand held yours as you walked up the street. Your feet were dragging because of how slow you were walking, it was calming. "This feels so strange," you said watching your feet move on command.
"What do you mean exaclty?" Jungkook said looking at you.
"Well, we've been friends for so long, it's just hard to believe after all this time...we're finally dating," you smiled all giddy giddy. Jungkook giggled.
"I know. It's hard to believe, it's like it's too good to be true," Jungkook looked up at the sky that was slowly turning darker. "I don't even know how to act because your the first girl I've ever met that makes me feel like this,"
You looked up at him when he finished talking "when did you realize you liked me?"
"Um a long time ago," he said with pink cheeks that he chewed from the inside. You got closer to him to pressure him into answering you directly. "Fine, one time in grade seven," he huffed as he clenched your hand.
"Really!? That long ago!" Your jaw dropped. How crud that would've been almost 6 years ago! How in the world did he hold it in for so long.
"Yeah, during that one pool party for J-hope's birthday," he grinned a bit. It was clear he was replaying the memory in his mind but he refused to let him giddy smile shine through. Suddenly there was another gust of wind. Jungkook seemed to be basking in the breeze but you other the other hand wasn't too pleased. A cropped tank top didn't feel nice in the cold wind.
"Brrr," you said rubbing your arms before going back to hold Jungkooks hand.
"You cold?" He asked worriedly.
"A little bit but we're almost at your place it's fine," before you could even finish your sentence Jungkook let go of your hand and started wipping of his jacket. "Jk...what are you doing,"
"Giving you my jacket obviously," he said as he wrapped the warm yellow fabric around you. You held the collar of it with one hand while the other went right back to his hand. A little grin appeared on your lips to accompany the butterflies in your stomach. "Such a kdrama moment" you thought to yourself.
It wasn't long before you arrived at the ever so familiar house Jungkook lived in. But as you approached it, you noticed a car in the driveway. You just ignored it and walked inside with him. But once you walked in you saw Jungkook's mom holding dish.
"Sweetie your home!" She smiled widely when she turned around. She looked shocked, her mouth opened slightly. "Are you two-?"

(donāt even remember what this was for but adhakshaksnkjdj girl why. why so dramaticššwhy no punctuation šš)
He doesn't understand why.Ā
Why him
Why they forgave him
When all he did was hurt them
ā
(this was for a mission impossible 4 fic. Iām not exaggerating when I say I absolutely CACKLED when I read this again. I WISH I was trying to be funny on purpose. girl whatās up with the formatting. yes, the numbers were that big)
Right now Brandt was tied to a chair with a timer in front of him that said 10:00.He guessed it was probably for a bomb. Best not find out. He tried to get lose but he was exhausted from sleep loss and no food. Not to mention a least 4 ribs where broken. He worked his ropes until he was bleeding, but he was as stuck as ever. He frantically looked at the timer. 3:23. "S**t" he tried to say but it came out "fmf" he tried moving the chair. Stuck down. He tried the ropes again. Nope. 0:7. Sorry guys, see you later 4

unfortunately I got better at writing. honestly it was really sweet to take the trip down memory lane now that Iām old enough to be so removed from it. I can vividly remember working on some of them like it was yesterday which is bizarre.

Hi! I want to request a part 2 to the Rio story when Beth shot him and the reader saved him. Maybe a 18+ story with a mini time skip. Where Turner and/or the other girls keep harassing her to tell them if heās alive or where Rio is but our girl aināt snitching. Take the story wherever you want to because I know itāll be great however you write it! Please and thank you!
anon, you having faith in my writing and saying thisāll be great regardless literally warms my heart, tysm š„ŗ i really truly hope you and everyone else that reads this part will enjoy it !!
pairing: rio x fem!reader word count: 1.7k warnings: mentions of canon violence (blood and gun injury), adult dialogue and language, mentions of food consumption, hurt / comfort, kinda angsty but also a little fluffy, sorta a slow burn
a/n: technically a part two to this, but can 100% be read as a stand alone. don't be afraid to tell me what you think!
-
Honestly, you werenāt quite sure what to expect when Rio first said, āYouāre my girl now.ā, but it definitely wasnāt this.
The manās attitude towards you changed drastically after the shooting incident. The dynamic between you shifted from acquaintances to friends to something more within a matter of days.
Previously he would turn to Beth for everything, only sneaking secret glances in your direction when he thought noone was looking, whereas now (with the way things played out) you were his go to person.
From advice regarding his work to simple conversations and trips down childhood memory lane whenever he needed a sense of normalcy, Rio knew he could count on you.
You were his girl after all.
Life with the brooding crook was different to say the least.
Being in hiding obviously affected your routine too, but it was Rio who genuinely surprised you the most.
He let you sleep in every morning, never once rushing you. He always left you a note if he ever had to disappear for a little, not giving away where he was going but rather letting you know when you could expect him back. He cooked for you, the best damn meals you have ever tasted. He included you in his meetings and welcomed your honest input.
In turn, you made him the happiest he has been in a very long time (but he wasnāt ready to admit that out loud just yet).
Four months passed as if it was nothing.
The weather outside started to shift, and with it your mood ever so slightly. You began missing your old life, your job, your apartment. Mainly, however, you seriously missed the girls.
āWhat are they going to think?ā There was a slight shake to the tone of your voice as you asked the question.
āNothinā, maybe that you ran away.ā Rio replied nonchalantly, his eyes peeled to the road ahead.
After somewhat recovering from his extensive wounds, Rio thought it best the two of you relocate to one of his safehouses instead. You agreed. With the FBI also on your ass for helping him escape, you knew trusting the man would be your best chance at not landing in prison.
āBut thatās not like me,ā you protested, āBeth is too smart to let the others think I would just up and leave.ā
āWell, what would you like āem to think, darlinā?ā
You sighed in defeat, āI- I donāt knowā¦ā
With one hand still on the steering wheel, Rio reached across and gave your thigh a gentle squeeze, meeting your gaze briefly. His touch relaxed you instantly (and awoke some other senses in the process too).
āItās all gonna be okay. You trust me, right?ā
And you do trust him. And things were genuinely okay, (maybe even more than just okay). But still.. You would be lying if you said you werenāt going insane.
You didnāt know exactly what you needed, just that you needed away from this house. Only for a little bit. An hour maybe? Rio wasnāt here. He left all the time so what was stopping you from going too?
So you didnāt think twice about it. After scribbling a note and leaving it on the dining table, you grabbed a random hoodie from his vast collection and headed out the door.
āAnd where do you think youāre going?ā
Fuck. Just like you to forget about one of Rioās goons being constantly sat outside of the house for protection.
āFor a drive,ā you answered truthfully, āIāll be back in an hour or so.ā
The guy got up and crossed his arms, towering over you.
āI donāt think so, maāam.ā
You rolled your eyes. āIf youāre not going to let me go alone then feel free to tag along, but I desperately need a change of scenery,ā you tried your best to persuade, āPlus I am craving a milkshake.ā
His eyes lit up then. He cleared his throat, letting his arms fall, before saying, āOnly if I can get a cheeseburger.ā
You grinned victoriously. āDeal.ā
Turns out there was a drive-thru not that far away from your undisclosed location. You ordered a strawberry milkshake while your ābodyguardā went all out with a large cheeseburger and fries meal.
He decided to eat inside; āIāll be fifteen minutes max. Donāt tell the boss I left you alone.ā
You stayed out in the parking lot, leaning against the hood of the car and sipping on your drink, watching the various people go by.
It was then you heard it. A distinctively familiar voice calling out your name.
Your body froze, half thinking if you didnāt move or acknowledge them, perhaps they would leave you alone.
Of course that wasnāt the case and within a matter of seconds, you were surrounded by the three women you practically betrayed a few months ago.
āI fucking knew it was you,ā Annie exclaimed and to your surprise, swooped in for an overly excited hug.
āDude, where the fuck have you been?!ā
āAvoiding us, running away from law enforcement, shacking up with gang friendā¦ā Ruby listed, not giving you a chance to respond.
āWhat happened to not jumping to conclusions? She may have a very good reason for helping him, like maybe he threatened to kill her if she didnāt,ā Annie rationalised in your defence.
While the two women bickered back and forth, your eyes drifted to Beth. The expression on her face clearly read betrayal and hurt (maybe even a sting of jealousy, although you couldnāt be quite sure).
āIs he alive?ā
The question caused the other conversation to cease instantly, Ruby and Annie snapping their attention back to you and the stunning redhead.
āIs. He. Alive?ā Beth repeated more sternly.
You couldnāt bring yourself to utter the words, your mouth and your brain completely refusing to cooperate, so you just nodded. One slow slant of the head.
āWellā¦ Where is he?ā Beth enquired, raising a brow.
āI-I uhm,ā you swallowed your breath, āI canāt tell you.ā
Ruby scoffed, āCanāt or wonāt?ā
Looking between the three ladies, you nervously chewed on your bottom lip. There was no way you could reveal where Rio was, and where the two of you have been hiding these last couple of months. With everything thatās happened ā and with the way youāve been feeling about him ā you couldnāt betray him.
āWonāt.ā
Beth let out a bitter chuckle. āWhat the fuck, y/n? Did you forget who he is?ā
āFunny coming from you,ā you spat back, quite surprised at the sudden burst of confidence you were experiencing.
āWhat is that supposed to mean?ā
āIt means youāre jealous.ā
āOh my god! Youāre delusional!ā The redhead exclaimed, drawing attention from a few passerbyers.
āMaybe we shouldnāt do this hereā¦ā Annie tried to interject.
āNo, Beth. Delusional is thinking you could try to kill a man like him and continue walking around freely, thinking he wonāt come after you.ā
āWe were convinced he was dead,ā Ruby defended, causing you to roll your eyes.
āFoolish.ā
āWe didnāt think you would save him!ā
āWell, I did. I saved him,ā you stated, āNow I can sleep soundly at night knowing Iām safe and sound.ā
Ruby was about to say something in response, when your ābodyguardā made his appearance, grabbing the attention of all three ladies.
āIs there a problem?ā
You looked between the girls following his question.
āNo,ā Beth answered, her eyes never leaving yours, āNo problem.ā And with that they retreated, allowing you to hop in the car.
The ride back to the safehouse was long.
Making sure the girls werenāt following you, your gang companion took a different way, down more winded roads. By the time you made it back, the sun had set and about a million stars made an appearance.
Rio was waiting for you. Sitting on the front porch steps, looking out into the driveway.
Knowing he was most likely angry you left the safety of the house in the first place, never mind the whole ordeal of running into the girls, a nervous feeling settled in the pit of your stomach while you stepped out of the car.
āI can explain,ā you began but he just shook his head and wrapped his arms around you.
Even though the kind act caught you off guard, you felt your muscles instantly become loose and you let yourself completely sag into Rioās surprisingly affectionate embrace.
His hands made home on your waist and he gave you a light squeeze before shifting them slowly to the small of your back. In turn, your arms made their way around his neck, your fingertips gently grazing at his soft skin.
āNo need,ā Rio mumbled into your hair before slightly pulling his head back to take a look at your face.
āSo youāre not mad?ā
He shook his head. āJust glad youāre okay, mama.ā
The corners of your mouth twirled upwards ever so slightly at his words and the faint smile now present on your features caused Rio to glance down at your lips.
There was a brief moment of silence, during which your faces both inclined towards one another. You did your best to ignore the way your heart was beating inside of your chest. If it wasnāt for the fact Rio was still holding onto you, his hands rubbing gentle circles into your back, you probably would have fainted.
āPlus,ā the jet-haired man cleared his throat, breaking the spell you found yourself in,āI think itās about time to return to some normality, huh?ā
He let his arms fall. However, instead of taking a step back (like you expected him to do), Rio gently rested his forehead against yours.
āRight,ā you breathed in response, biting on the inside of your cheek to stop yourself from shedding a tear because truthfully, even though just this morning you were missing your old life, the sentiment of āreturning to normalityā made you quite sad.
āNothinā else is gonna change though,ā Rio reassured, his hot breath sending a tingle down your spine.
You let out a breath. āNothing?ā
The man standing in front of you let out a soft chuckle. āMaybe just one thing.ā
And without uttering another word, he leaned in to capture your lips in a kiss.

A chat can never have too many flowers (Part 1)
Summary:Ā It's been two years since Hawkmoth was defeated and Adrien left the city he had called home. Now he's back walking through the streets of Paris trying to escape the ghosts he thought he'd moved on from. That is until he bumps into an old friend. Who reminds him of all the good things of his past. Adrien finds himself inexplicably drawn to her and wants to spend time with her. The problem? As far as Marinette knows Chat noir is back in Paris, not Adrien, but it's not like a cat themed superhero buying plants from a random flower shop almost every day would be weird right?
Hi! I have no self control :D so here is a full fic of thisĀ idea. I will try to update weekly. Thank you so much @vroomtaka for beta reading and encouraging my crazy ideas! Please let me know what you think! Comments really motivate me to keep writing.
Memories, everywhere he turned Adrien felt a flood of memories wash over him. Some filled him with longing. They reminded him of the happiest days of his life. But those memories were overshadowed by the bad ones. In his eyes he wasn't seeing the beautiful streets of Paris he had grown up in. No, he was seeing the broken city he had fled from.Ā
Two years had passed, Paris had healed, its citizens had moved on. Still, now that he was back Adrien realized that he hadn't, not completely. He'd be left behind with the ghosts and remains of what had happened on that fateful day.
~~~
"Plagg claws out!"
Chat didn't want to think that by transforming he was running away again. But just walking down a Parisian street was getting overwhelming. Vaulting from rooftop to rooftop had always helped him clear his head. Besides, it would be easier to find Ladybug that way.Ā
Before he left, Ladybug wanted for them to reveal their identities, something that Chat realized would have been very useful for him now that he wanted to find her, but back then he had been the one to refuse. Which had surprised Ladybug, since he was usually the one who wanted desperately for them to reveal their identities.Ā
But after Hawkmoth's defeat, he felt ashamed. Ashamed of literally living under the same roof as the villain they had been fighting for years and never suspecting a thing. Ashamed of almost falling for his father's trick sand helping him get his mother back. Ladybug could never find out who he was because Chat knew that she would be disappointed in him, and that thought alone hurt worse than his father's betrayal.
Chat stopped at one of the rooftops when he realized that he didn't have much of a plan. Wandering around wouldn't really help much if she wasn't on patrol. So he took out his baton and called his lady.Ā
Unsurprisingly, she didn't pick up, but Chat figured a voicemail would probably be his best bet to find her. "Heyyy bugaboo," he said. He paused as the nostalgia hit him. God, he really missed the old days.Ā Ā Ā
After taking a deep breath, he continued "I just wanted to let you know that I'm back in town so if you want to meet up and catch up let me know! You know where to find me." Chat hung up and prayed that she would remember their special place.
Once he put away his baton, Chat realized that he now had another problem. He needed to find a way to kill time until Ladybug responded. He really did not want to continue his trip down memory lane, and he didn't want to bother Nino since they were going to meet the day after. So he didn't really have much to do.Ā
Chat was starting to contemplate the idea of just sitting on the rooftop until he got a response when something caught his eye. Just diagonally from the building where he was standing, there was a flower shop. It was perfect! He could find Ladybug a gift while he waited for her response!
With newfound enthusiasm, he grabbed his baton and lowered himself to the ground. Then he headed towards the flower shop.Ā
~ā”~ā”~ā”~
Marinette took a step back to examine her handiwork. She was in charge of redecorating the storefront of the flower shop, which was one of her favorite tasks of her job. She had to make sure that all the hanging flower pots looked even and with a healthy mix of colors. Change the flowers of the bicycle prop, this time to a beautiful basket of multicolored tulips. As well as make new bows to go with it.
There were also flowers and succulents lined up neatly in some upside-down wooden crates surrounding the bicycle. The only thing missing were the small chalkboard signs that stated the prices. So Marinette went inside the shop to get them.
She stopped for a moment when a new bunch of carnations caught her eye. Immediately an image of a beautiful red dress came to her mind.Ā
That was another thing she loved about her job. Not only did it pay for her design career, but it was also a source of endless inspiration for her designs. She was already thinking of the fabric she could use when she heard someone clear their throat.
"Mmm Marinette?"
Marinette quickly snapped away from her thoughts feeling embarrassed that she had gotten distracted again. A sketch of the dress would have to wait for later. The signs were more important at that moment.Ā
"Sorry," Marinette said sheepishly to her coworker Michelle.Ā
Michelle was the owner's niece. She was doing a music major and had become one of Marinette's closest friends after working together for almost a year. Michelle laughed. "It's fine Mari! I know how you get when you get inspired. Though I'll never understand how you can see a sad little flower, and make a whole outfit out of it."
Marinette giggled. "If your aunt hears you talking about flowers like that she's going to fire you."
Michelle made a face. "She can try."
Marinette grinned, she wasn't wrong. Despite all the things Michelle pulled, her aunt didn't do much other than laugh and threaten to kick her out.
Once again Marinette remembered the reason she was there. "Hey, have you seen the chalkboard signs?" She asked.
Michelle nodded. "Yep! They are in the back inside a plastic bin next to the extra flower pots."
Marinette thanked her and went to the back. Sure enough, they were in the exact spot Michelle had described. Marinette grabbed a box of chalk and placed it on top of the bin. Then she picked it up and headed towards the door.
Unfortunately, trying to hold the box and open the door at the same time proved to be a horrible idea, because Marinette didn't notice the person on the other side of the door until she crashed into him. The box of chalk went flying as Marinette struggled to catch her balance.
Then she heard an all too familiar voice say. "Whoopsie Daisy." Immediately Marinette's head snapped towards the source of the voice.
Marinette's breath caught as she saw the man she had bumped into. Startled blue eyes met wide green ones as Marinette gasped. "Cha- Chat Noir?"
Song: āSheās thunderstormsā - Arctic Monkeys
MASTERLIST
āāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāā
Sheās thunderstorms
Lying on her front, up against the wall
Sheās thunderstorms
Bryce Lahela was right.
Sheās like a goddess that entered to this building and blessed my life when I made eye contact with her.
Indeed a blessing.
She was the most incredible woman and everyone would take a bow just for her hand and fulfill all the wishes she wanted.
He couldnāt feel his breath in that short moment when they exchanged looks. Did someone pause his heart and his body? Because surely he had multiple questions as his mind drifted into thoughts.
When did she come here? How did she find him? Where did she work before coming here? Is she alone? But if not, who was with her? The hair colour and style had changed too. From the straight dark brown with bangs had gone into long, wavy light ash blonde hair that seemed to make her a different person.
But her face was still like he left it. Her arched brows that made her confident; captivating eyes with determination; full and inviting lips that always gave him chills when she crooked them into a playful smirk; her strong and beautiful jaw that tilted whenever he teased her or touched with such delicacy that made her gasp into pleasure; her long neckā¦ without his necklace. He almost scoffed. Of course she had taken it off. What was he expecting?
Their bodies pining in the wall in ecstasy and hearing her sounds...
Iāve been feeling foolish, you should try it
She came and substituted the peace and quiet for
Acrobatic blood, flow concertina
Cheating heartbeat, rapid fire
Everything.
He wanted to do everything.
Anytime and anywhere.
With her and only her.
When he saw her hand shaking with another one... he felt a pit into his stomach and a familiar feeling came into his brain.
Mine.
Sheās thunderstorms
Lying on her front, up against the wall
Sheās thunderstorms
Here is your host, sounds as if sheās pretty close
When the heat starts growing horns
Sheās thunderstorms
That greatly but destructive feeling called jealousy was in his veins. He wanted to reach out and twirl her around and to whisper to her:
Iām sorry and I really missed you.
Instead he came with slow and confident steps as if his imagination vanished quickly without so noticing and a small professional smile appeared in his face and she seemed to understand it. One more reason why he loves her.
āAh Clay here you are,ā Simon spoke breaking his trip of memory lane. āI want to present you Dr. Helena Craig the surgeon whoās going to replace Edgar for a while. Helen this is Dr. Clay Banner our future cardiothoracic surgeon.ā
āItās a pleasure to meet you Dr. Bannerā¦ I have heard a lot about you.ā It seemed like a lifetime since he had heard her angelic voice that was a symphony in his ears. He held his tears from falling and coughed to fight the strangle voice that was about to let out.
āA pleasure to meet you too Dr. Craig and I can say the same thing about you.ā
Something inside of Helen was igniting.
Her flame.
That old flame which burnt her into many pieces and toyed with her body all of those times sharing with him. She couldnāt say that she didnāt miss him. The real him. The one she fell in love with. His adoring face, his soft hands, his broad shoulders where she leaned on and his assuring voice when she felt insecure.
She had mastered perfectly the art of acting and pretending to be satisfied with everything in her life. Little did those people in the room know how her heart was aching miserably and was shattering from disappointment and hurt from the very same man that was just two feet away.
But a baritone and irritating voice seemed to cut off all of that momentary darkness which in fact she thanked him in silence. āDone with the introductions? Great. Weāve got work to do.ā Ethan turned his back and started to write in the whiteboard. āThe patient is from Manhattan Presbyterianā¦ā
While Ethan was explaining the symptoms, Helen held a transfixed face to all of the theories of her attending and unexpectedly to other colleagues, she started to ask questions which resulted helpful despite being a surgeon. Sometimes she shared thoughts with Clay and even agreeing with them. It was part of the job after all and Clay couldnāt help but feel proud for his woman.
Correction: his ex.
A past tense that he had to learn from now on. But deep inside of him there was a spark of hope that maybeā¦ maybe things would get back to normal. And maybe she would forgive him.
The team was finally dismissed but only two people stayed. Ethan called Helen before she would leave and that made Clayās blood boiled because all he wanted was to talk to her right after this meeting. He had to try one last card even though it was useless.
āDr. Ramsey can we talk for a moment?ā
āIs there anything wrong Dr. Banner?ā
āNo j-just,ā he stuttered. āQ-questions about the team in general.ā
āWe will but after I finish a discussion with Dr. Craig if you donāt mind.ā
Fuck you.
āNot at all Sir.ā He closed the door reluctantly and sighed in defeat.
āWhatās the matter Dr. Ramsey?ā She asked although she knew damn well why he had called her.
āWhat are you doing here?ā Ethan clasped his fingers as if to stop whatever his mind was blowing now. His ears were still echoing with her words whispering softly.
Thank you for the distraction. I really needed it.
āStarting my job,ā she said innocently and shrugged. āIs it irrelevant?ā
āYes, it is,ā he nodded and his feet was carrying him over her; something inevitable that no matter what, he couldnāt stop. āI donāt think all of this is a coincidence.ā
āWell lucky for you now youāll have the most trustworthy person in your team that wonāt let you down.ā
He scoffed while shaking his head. āI highly doubt your confidence.ā
āJust wait and see.ā
Iāve already seen you.
After their encounter last night Ethan couldnāt sleep. Many times of trying to change and find the perfect position led to nothing but drinking in the balcony that even his dog Jenner didnāt like it and cooed sadly to his owner. What was this woman doing to him? Why he felt so weak in front of her that immediately wanted to bend her over to his desk and scream his name?
āSo,ā she crossed her arms behind her waist.Ā āHow was I?ā
He frowned in confusion and god she thought to herself why he had to be such handsome even in that moment. āHm?ā
āIn making you feel surprised.ā
āAh that. Well youāve clearly exceeded my expectations.ā
āWow. So I rendered you speechless then.ā
Giggles were ringing in the walls and for the first time in a while Ethan Ramsey smiled at that. It was something so natural that came from her as other people didnāt get his dry humour but she... she was different. It was like a magnet that more and more you get closer, the more attached you become to her.
Sheās been loop-the-looping around my mind
Her motorcycle boots give me this kind of
Acrobatic blood, concertina
Cheating heartbeat, rapid fire
He cleared his throat in purpose of changing the subject. āThe reason why I called you,ā he put his hand in his front pocket to reveal a tiny and shining object that seemed familiar to her. āDoes this belong to you?
āOh my god yes! This is my earring!ā Helen exclaimed shockingly while grazing it with her thumb. Apparently had slipped when she whispered in his ear. āI was looking it all over my room but I couldnāt find it anywhere.ā Her gaze now was turned back to him in gratefulness. āThank you.ā
Without thinking she closed their distance by enveloping him into a hug. This caught Ethan off guard but now he returned the hug back and closed his eyes while inhaling her perfume. She did the same too and in that moment both of them felt safe on each otherās arms as if they knew where they belonged. The world around them didnāt exist for a few seconds and both of them despite not saying out loud, they wanted to continue it.
Sheās thunderstorms
Lying on her front, up against the wall
Sheās thunderstorms
āItās nothing.ā He smiled politely when they separated.
āNo this is not nothing. I owe you because this earring was really special to me.ā She inhaled slowly while considering an option. Taking some risk wouldnāt hurt her? Right? āWhat do you say uhm- a drink? In this case I can apologise for yesterdayāsā¦ thing.ā
āYou have nothing to apologise for.ā
āSure I have, because to be completely honest Dr. Ramseyā¦ I knew who you were.ā
And here he thought that she was just another stranger that thankfully didnāt know him. Now he was feeling raged and betrayed because that meant she wanted to impress him only by her appearance and make a spot here on his team. His authoritative voice came back as if to maintain the last straw of himself.
āYou did know who were you talking to?ā
āYeah I did. Now Iām speaking to my attending,ā she moved tantalising and confidently just like yesterday. āTo my colleague. And,ā then tilted her chin while saying. āTo a possible friend.ā
āFor the latter dream on.ā He warned her.
She laughed heartedly. āWeāll meet at Donahueās at 9 PM sharply and donāt be late because I canāt wait more than two minutes.ā
His eyebrows narrowed incredulously and crossed his arms to his chest. āI donāt remember accepting your offer. And besidesā¦ how do you know my agenda? What if Iām busy?ā
āWell I donāt remember taking a no answer from you and Iāve got my sources about your special agenda.ā She shrugged innocently. āSee you tonight doctor.ā
The door was closed but not before throwing a playful wink to him. He let out a laugh while shaking his head in disbelief. This woman was really crazy but it was one of a kind and Ethan Ramsey couldnāt wait to know more about her.
āāāāāāāāāāāāāā
Helen wasnāt surprised to see him waiting impatiently in the corner while she was talking with Dr. Ramsey.
What was so important that took them this long? He thought.
Actually that was only five minutes but to him it seemed like five hours already. When she got out he couldnāt help but stare at her not knowing where to start first.
āHelen.ā
āDr. Banner,ā the plastered smile didnāt leave her face despite being furious and ready to wipe his ass in front of everyone. āYou can go now to Dr. Ramsey. Heās free.ā
āActually, can we talk?ā She rolled her eyes. āI wonāt make you wait too much. I promise.ā
Helen whispered only for the two of them to hear. āYou and your promises,ā a tackle of her tongue was heard twice. āArenāt in coherence. I donāt know why should I listen to you. Let me guess- Iām sorry my Helen but I had to step in you to gain my spot here in Edenbrook thanks to my parents who are very powerful and influential people in Boston.ā
āI-ā
āIām not finished,ā her hardened gaze was evident and he knew he had to stop. āOr how you accepted without so much caring not one but two strange women in your bed while you were fucking drunk. That mustāve been a fruitful threesome huh? Why didnāt you try with a boy too? That wouldāve been the cherry on top.ā Her words were poisonous and she thought he deserved much worse than these. āOr how your mother has always tried to make me feel miserable in front of everyone when you did absolutely nothing to stop it. Not even moving your finger.ā
In an unusual place, when youāre feeling far away
She does what the night does to the day
She was right about everything. He couldnāt disagree with any of the words she said. Helen Craig was rarely found to be wrong.
āI think that our conversation ends here Dr. Banner.ā
He grabbed her elbow without thinking twice for his recklessness and made her narrow her eyes in annoyance. āTonight at Donahueās bar 9 oāclock and I will explain you everything.ā
āGet off me or Iāll scream.ā She warned dangerously.
āWe both know you canāt.ā Clay had no idea where this was leading but he could see the fire into her eyes. āYou wouldnāt want people to find out that you had a boyfriend working here huh?ā
Look at this prick starting to talk.
āWell well do you need a reminder that my father and my brother can make you beg for your life again?ā
The last encounter with the Craig males was one year ago when they found out that this jerk had dumped the most precious thing of their family. Patrick Craig was the first to reach for the drawer to load his gun just in case whereas Brian her brother made sure to find Clayās location with his advanced knowledge of technology. The end resulted in a bloody and a harsh fight between them and warning the latter to not come any centimeter closer to Helen. And the scar on his neck was still visible after that time.
āThat happened once. It canāt happen again,āĀ he grasped her out of his hand. āIāll be waiting.ā
With that he left the ultimatum settled in her hands and keeping it until 9 PM. Helen stayed still like someone had glued her in a position that she couldnāt escape.
She wouldnāt go.
No.
She wouldnāt hear him again and believe his words. But there was such a confidence in his voice that made her scared. Thanks to that she felt the anxiety rising up and panic for what was about to come.
She could easily cancel the plans with Dr. Ramsey and not go to that bar. But when she met him yesterday it felt something different with that share of eye contact.
Despite being half-drunk and exhausted from her flight he had made her forgetting all of her plans and the reason why she came in Boston. It was entirely a new world, a new dimension that she hadnāt explored yet and was eager to find more about this man.
It was unethical but did she care? Not in the slightest. Helen was ambitious and she definitely would possess it. She had to think of a plan how to sabotage this whole thing but how?
The choice she had to make was like a ticking bomb that in one way or another, was going to blast.
Sheās thunderstorms
Lying on her front, up against the wall
Sheās thunderstorms, thunderstorms, thunderstorms
Birthday Excitement
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MY DEAREST DT!! FINALLY AN ADULT!!!
I know you're not really in the Renegades fandom anymore but the characters are all I can write at the moment so bear with me.
I made you a lil something special inspired by this wonderful, creative and visually appealing drawing from a while ago. Now, this fic has two of my favorite of your old headcanons for these men (1. Simon being a fem manwhore -in the best way, I still think about this one sometimes lol- and 2. Hugh being a certified himbo -like that isn't common knowledge lmao- and Hugh being French and Simon being some type of Spanish speaking latinoā¦ I used google translate so be nice.) There's also a few callbacks from a few of your old stuff (i underlined em and there's a google doc at the end with it all. Yes, I did my work. Only the best for you.)
A small ittle trip down memory lane with a little royal touch to it (get itā¦ cuz āroyalā... Iām royal. Iām so funny)
Plus a little added surprise, your welcome (Will I probably not be able to read this later out of embarrassment? Yes. Yall can probably guess...š)
Trust me, my friend, you're gonna want to read this.
Fic under cutā
Joyeux Anniversaire (Happy Birthday To You)
Feliz CumpleaƱos A Ti (Happy Birthday To You)
Iā¦ just feel we need moreā¦ excitement.
I'm not following, Si.
Ya knowā¦ excitement.
It took Hugh getting a random drink of water at 4 oāclock in the morning to realize what Simon meant, but āexcitementā.
When it came to Simon there was only one thing that would need changing in the excitement area. Not that either of them wereā¦ lackingā¦ but a little change wouldnāt hurt.
Simon's birthday was soon, so Hugh waited until then.
Hughās been married to Simon forā¦ 5 years now, known him for even longer. It's only right that Hugh knew his husband's favorite animal.
A cow.
The little black and white ones that were so adorable and heart stopping to Simon.
It brought a smile to Hughās face when they would have to drive in the mountains and see the cows littered throughout the hills. To see his beloved's wide eyes and adorable grin looking out the window like heād never seen them before. And the passerby fairs that had a petting zoo. There was always at least one cow. You could bet that it took a lot of convincing to get him to move on when there was a baby cow that he could brush, pet and feed right in front of him. Simon even once tried to buy it from the owner, but was sadly rejected.
With that memory aside, it wasn't too hard to find something that would make Simon's special day. Neither were too particular men, and although Hugh didn't have the best taste in clothing, this wasā¦ well ā¦ this. Upon opening the package, he already could tell it would look great on him, even he knew that.
In honor of Simon's favorite animal Hugh got himself a cow costume that Simon would certainly enjoy. Among other gifts that were nice and meaningful, but this one was by far the most clever.
He has Kasumi, Tamaya and Evander take Simon out for a brunch. Simon had questioned why Hugh wasnāt joining, his best response was that it was unfair of him to have Simon all day.
Yeah, not the best.
Simon insisted and Hugh said he had some work, which got Simon mad.
Again, not the best.
They had made a series of unbreakable rules a while back to make sure work didnāt take over family time. One of those rules was not a bit of work was to be done on birthdays or holidays unless the world was ending (which had actually happened more than a few times, but they were in the clear now, so there was absolutely no excuse.)
This was why Hugh hated lying. He was so bad at it. For a self-proclaimed politician, he sucked at the lying and fibbing part. His excuses were always either outright dumb or outrageous.
It reminded him of a movie scene heād watched it Adrian, (Play dumb.. NOT THAT DUMBā¦).
He eventually got an irritated Simon to go out to brunch alone with their friends while Hugh secretly set up a mini celebration in their Simonās, it was all of theirs in spirit but it was Simonās house that they lived in before they got the mansion. He and Simon, the last of the council to be in that house, moved out around 3 years ago, and surprisingly the place hadnāt been bought yet. The landlord did not allow rentals so Hugh he bought the place outright so he would ever have to see those sharks again. He doubted Simon would mind considering what this place meant to the both of them.
It was the first place that they lived together, they experienced everything there. There were so many memories here, one being Simon teaching Hugh how to bake a pie. Another where they talked about Simon's invisibility and that conversation leading up to how Hugh sometimes poops chromium. Also the place was close to one of their favorite parks where they would go on little short dates when they could get away during the Age of Anarchy. Everything about this place holds memories.
Toi Cent Dux (Your One-Hundred and Two)
Tu Ciento Dos (Your One-Hundred and Two)
Kasumi texted Hugh that they were almost done. She and the rest of them didnāt know exactly what Hugh had planned but just that it was a surprise. Simon, however, was oblivious. They could tell that he was a little angry that Hugh had to do āworkā on his birthday.
For a man that can be smart he was so dumb at times.
They did their absolute best to get any negative thoughts out of Simonās mind, and they succeeded. He seemed so happy and they knew that it would only grow. Hugh may be a himbo, but he knew how to make Simon the happiest man in the world (he could upset him just as fast, not on purpose of course, but that isnāt relevant right now).
Simon tried not to sigh or let the fact that he would be met with a husband that didnāt seem to care about him today. He didn't even get a compliment on his outfit. He put on some nice tight pants that made his butt look big and plump and a crop top, plus his make-up was fire. Heād forgotten his jacket but it didn't take away from the fit.
HE LOOKED HOT AND SEXY!
Absolutely stunning, sex on legsā¦ maybe even betterā¦ but nope, nothing out of Hugh.
They walked into the parking lot together, they had all parked together so they didn't need to split.
āSi, keys.ā Evander said with a snap of his fingers.
Simon snorted, āLike Iād ever willingly let you drive my car.ā
Evander grinned like an idiot, āWell you won't need it because that,ā he pointed to a really fancy and expensive looking car that came into view, āis your ride.ā
Simon looked between their friends and they all just smiled as they shooed him toward the car.
The very tinted driver rolled down to reveal Hugh. He got out and Simon was able to see all of him. He was wearingā¦ his old cool-guy outfit from Highschool. It was a pink muscle-tee with jeans and a thick belt. The letterman jacket that was always a bit tight was thrown over his shoulder. He leaned against the car, āI was just driving around the neighborhood and spotted something very sweet.ā He said in a low voice, tilting his sunglasses down, giving Simonās body a seductive look.
Evander gagged from behind him, āOK, I'd like the keys now. I wanna leave.ā
Simon didn't break eye contact with his husband as he handed them over.
Hugh held out a hand and Simon took it instantly and allowed himself to be pulled in close, āI thought you didnāt careā¦ā Simon whispered, a bit ashamed he thought so lowly of his husband.
Hugh only laughed, āHow could I not when you look like this.ā He took the jacket and put it around Simon, āSorry for hiding your jacket and making you forget it. I just really wanted you to wear this one. Like old times.ā
Simon slipped his arms in place and his stomach erupted in butterflies.
Exactly like old times.
In the spirit of the past, Simon poked Hughās chest, āSince you're wearing the outfit, can you do the thing I've always liked?ā
Knowing exactly what Simon meant, Hugh let his arms fall and stood straight. Rolling his eyes, he bounced his pecs a few times and Simon bit his lip.
Hugh stopped, earning a soft whine from the other, and made his way to the passenger door and opened it for his love, āEnough horniness, get in, weāre not done yet.ā
Simon looked at him wide eyed, licking his lips, ā Ok, Pap-ā
āIN THE CAR!ā
Simon giggled as he got in.
Hugh, mi vida, what do you have planned?
Bonne fĆŖte (Happy Birthday)
Feliz cumpleaƱos (Happy Birthday)
Simon would recognize this neighborhood in a cloud of thick fog. He would be able to tell where he was blindfolded just by the feel.
He knew that after the last turn there would be a pothole and only a few seconds after that the car would stop.
He saw his home.
The old one, the one where everything started.
Dos Mios, it was already great but this isā¦
No words could describe his surprise and happiness from just being near this place.
āH-how. Does no one live here?ā Simon said, perplexed, getting out of the car. Hugh shook his head, āNopeā¦ and nothingās changed either.ā
Simon stood in place while Hugh came around the car, āYou went inside?ā
āWellā¦ I had to tour it to buy it.ā
āYea, that makes sen- Wait, what?ā
Hugh smiled, āLeft pocket.ā
Simon reached inside the pocket and pulled out a key. He saw the initials heād written as a kid.
His key.
He hid it under one of the stones in front of the house. He told everyone it was just in case the next owners wanted it but in all reality he just didn't want anyone else using it.
S.W with a n added āEā that stood out against the other faded letters.
āYeah, I added that. Felt right.ā Hugh covered one of Simonās hand with his own, āYou wanna go inside now, baby?ā
Simon all but ran to the door, unlocking it and going inside at record speed.
When he stepped inside, he instantly made his way to the living room, as Hugh predicted, where a mass of presents awaited.
Mon trĆØs cher DT (My Dearest DT)
Mi Querida DT (My Dearest DT)
Hugh watched as Simon finished up the slice of cake heād been working on. He smiled at him and Hugh couldn't help but smile back.
āYou like everything?ā Hugh said, bring his plate to the sink. Simon let himself fall on the couch, āOf course! It's all perfect.ā
āWell I hope you are not all birthday-d out ācuz there's still one more thingā¦ā Hugh trailed, pulling one last gift from behind his back.
Hugh handed Simon the last gift, āWait,ā he interjected before Simon could open it, āIma go to the basement, waitā¦ one minute, then open it and put it on. Meet me there after.ā
Simon raised an eyebrow and Hugh grabbed his chin lightly but firmly, āOnly this.ā
Simon nodded, his breath catching in his throat.
The minute couldn't have gone by any slower. The instructions rang in his head like a tempting bell.
Only this.
When heād reached 60 in his head, he tore the wrapping off to find a nice, soft and flowy purple holographic skirt. Just the shade he liked too.
Only this.
It just covered his ass, it was merely an inch from showing. He did a little twirl to himself. It was pretty, the colors changing every so slightly.
Hughās words stayed true as he only wore the skirt. He wasn't an idiot, he knew what was about to happen. He waited another minute to give Hugh time to finish up whatever he was planning. He grabbed the letterman jacket.
Yeah, Hugh said only the skirt but Simon doubted there would be any bad feelings to him wearing the jacket.
āOh Hubbyā¦ I'm coming downā¦ā Simon called, when there was no response, he took that as an invitation.
No amount of daydreaming could've made him guess that the great Captain Chromium would be āwā-sitting on the bed dressed in cow lingerie.
They made eye contact, Hugh blinked at him with a tilted head and a sly smile taking over hip lips, āMoo.ā
Simon walked forward slowly, admiring the sight. His eye caught on something familiar.
The corner of the sheet was pulled up, revealing the floral blue mattress they had way back when, āIs this the same mattress?ā
Hugh followed his eye line, āUmm, I don't think anyone changed it.. So yes?ā
Simon wiggled his eyebrows, āWe lost our virginities on this mattress.ā
It took Hugh a moment to remember but he mimicked Simonās face when he did, āThen let's put it to good use once again.ā
When Simon was close enough, Hugh reached out and pulled Simon to him, pressing small kisses to his bare chest, āYou like the outfit?ā
Simon looked down at him, stroking the side of his face. āI love it.ā
He knelt on the bed to Hughās level and kissed him slowly and sensually. As they invaded each other's senses, Hugh grasped Simonās bare ass from beneath the skirt, āGood boy,ā he whispered, causing Simon to shiver in excitement. Hugh reached behind him and grabbed the mini bottle of lube heād brought, āIt's your birthday, let me pamper you.ā
Simon nodded and Hugh took over his mouth, their tongues clashing together in an ongoing battle. There was a slight cold feeling at his entrance but it quickly turned to pleasure as Hugh pumped his fingers in and out of him.
Hugh added another finger after some time, then another, preparing him
When the time finally came Simon allowed himself to be bent forward on the edge of the bed and Hugh took over him. Lifting Simonās skirt up, Hugh pressed the head of his dick slowly in Simonās entrance. There was a labored breath from Simon and Hugh leaned forward, biting his earlobe, āDo you want more?ā Simon whined in response and Hugh let loose a low laugh, āWords, mon amour.ā Simon groaned, āYes! Please! I want moreā¦ so much moreā¦ please.ā
āAs you wish.ā
Simon fisted the blankets as Hugh pressed more of himself in him. It hurt a little bit, but the pain was worth it. The reward was worth it.
The low creek of the bed was arousing, the soft grunts from both of them as Hugh started slowly, building both of them up.
Hugh was pressing him deep in the bed, the friction on his own dick making him leak from his tip.
āF-Fuckā Hugh groaned as he hooked Simonās leg in the cook of his arm and drove himself as deep as possible in his husband. Simon arched his back, his mouth parting letting loose a beautifully deep moan as his prostate was hit. Hugh pulled out half way and repeated the action, watching the way it slipped in and out, rhythmically.
The pleasure took over their bodies in waves. Pulling back, then coming back at them full force.
āH- Ohā¦ Hugh?ā
He slowed his thrusts to a stop, allowing Simon to breath and talk.
āCa- Oh my..ā Hugh started sucking on Simonās neck. He knew exactly what he was doing to the man, āSpeak, I can't promise I'll w-wait for much longerā¦ā Hugh tried to play the tough dom for tonight, but the slight stutter reminded the both of them that Hughās body was for Simon.
For him to use anyway he pleased. Most assumed that Hugh was āin chargeā, but more often than not, it was Simon who had Hugh wrapped around his perfect little finger.
āI wanna see you.ā Simon finally breathed.
Hugh waited until Simon was situated on the bed before making his move, āWhere do you want me, Love?ā
Simon sent in a smile, his eyes full of arousal, āStill on topā¦ please, Papi.ā
Hugh wasted no time setting himself between Simonās open and awaiting legs. Hugh removed the horned headband from his head and placed it on Simon, who tilted his head and mimicked him from earlier, āMoo.ā
He captured Simon's mouth in a deep, rough kiss and took that as an opportunity to slip himself back into his husband. They both moaned at the feeling and the noises only got louder as their movements got faster and rougher.
Neither man liked to be handled delicately.
They were past the soft touches and hesitation. They left that stage of their relationship years ago. It was rough, now. Just as both of them liked it. Hugh couldn't be marked but it didn't stop Simon from acting like he could. Sucking and grabbing Hughās body to ground himself. Though it was him whose body was battered in the best way. Bite marks and hickey's littered Simonās body. Being able to touch them the next day and have his body erupt in tingles at just the memory.
One of Hughās hands was on the headboard, and Simon would feel his back muscles working underneath his hands. The other was holding his leg wide open. Simonās other leg was wrapped tightly around Hughās waist, allowing minimal space between them. And Hugh wouldnāt stop attacking his neck and jawline. Not that he wanted him to stop.
Anything but stop
Joyeux Anniversaire (Happy Birthday To You)
Feliz CumpleaƱos A Ti (Happy Birthday To You)
āI'm guessing you're hungry right nowā Hugh sighed into his husband's neck. He felt the slight laugh in Simonās chest and he groaned, āfor something actually edible, mon amour?ā
āBoringā¦ but yeah, kinda.ā
Hugh got up and Simon admired the sight. He didnāt know when exactly their special clothes had gotten taken off, but wasnāt complaining. Hugh picked up the discarded costume, āWould you like to enjoy this a little bit longer?ā
Simon bit his lip, āMaybeā¦,ā he sunk into bed, pulling the cover up to kid his reddening cheeks.
Hugh chuckled, āWell then, give me a moment, this thing is hard to get on and I'd rather not me struggling be a turn off so Iāll be in the bathroom.ā
Simon took his leaving as a sign for him to get up too. Stretching out his back, he spotted his discarded skirt and Hughās jacket. After a few minutes of mentally preparing himself to get out of bed, he put them on, not even asking Hugh if that's what he wanted. He already knew that answer, if he did ask, āIs that even a question, Amour?ā. He could hear it in his mind perfectly.
When Hugh came back out his heart did a flip in his chest. They had just had sex like this but he couldnāt get over how damn sexy he looked.
They made their way back upstairs and Hugh pulled two bowls from the refrigerator and put them in the microwave.
When they came out Simon couldnāt help but laugh, āMy favorite noodles!ā
Hugh laughed with him, āIt's your birthday, Was I not going to get them?ā
Simon leaned over and kissed him, āThank you for bringing me back here. Thank you for showing me love in so many different ways.ā
āAnything for you, mon coeur.ā
Happy Birthday
Juke AU āWe Play Pretendā
Julie starts writing to her imaginary friend from childhood to cope with the loss of her mom. She thinks itās a good way to let her feelings out, by confiding in someone she used to be able to tell everything to.Ā
She drops the letter at their secret spot in the park and figures thatās that.Ā Ā
Yet she canāt stop thinking about the letter the whole weekend and she goes back to the park the following Monday, hoping to grab it before some stranger stumbles upon it or something embarrassing like that.Ā
But imagine her surprise the next time she stops by, she not only finds her letter missing, but a reply in an envelope addressed to her...
Julie looks around, trying to see if someoneās left this behind and is hiding in the bushes for this sick joke. But finding no one, and being extremely curious, she swipes the letter and runs home to read it.Ā
And adding more to the mystery, it seems to be written by her imaginary friend. Like oddly sounds just like him, and heās able to match every reference of their pretend adventures together, from what she can decipher from the messy handwriting.Ā
Naturally Julie wants to confront her family, the only people who knew about her imaginary friend, but of course they would only send her right back to Dr. Turner the moment she sounds the least bit crazy.Ā
Julie has every reason to be suspicious of this letter because thereās no way her imaginary friend is actually writing to her and is concerned that someone in her inner circle had a hand in it.Ā
That doesnāt stop her from quickly penning another letter and hiding it in their spot.Ā
And soon enough, she and her imaginary friend start this regular correspondence which has Julie looking forward to the next letter each week. She suspends her disbelief for a second, fully embracing the idea that she is magically conversing with her imaginary friend.Ā
They mostly talk about stuff theyāre going through, a lot of reminiscing about the past, and sometimes some fun songs they would both come up with to cheer the other one up.Ā
As she reads more of his letters, the more real he seems to her and the more sheās worried that sheās falling for someone who doesnāt really exist- as Flynn keeps warning her every time Julie would bring up the letters.Ā Ā
Then, approaching December, Julie writes about the loneliness the holidays brings.Ā
The reply that comes through made her heart stop.Ā
Well if you werenāt imaginary, I would love to take you to a fancy Winter Ball. Just like old times.Ā
Julie, confused, writes back.Ā
What do you mean if I wasnāt imaginary? Youāre the imaginary one...
She waits anxiously for the response which doesnāt come until days later, the handwriting messier than usual, probably written in a shakier, more frantic hand.
Youāre Julie arenāt you? My imaginary friend from the park?
Wait a minute.Ā
Julie needs to figure this out and this prompts her to finally ask her dad about her imaginary friend from when she was little.Ā
From there she pieces it together.Ā
She would disappear somewhere whenever they went to the park together every week as a family, but comes back not too long after to tell them about what fun game she andĀ āLukeā had played.Ā
Since Julie had such a wild imagination when she was younger, and that her parents never seem to catch a glimpse of Luke, they figured that he was an imaginary friend, telling her so often that she remembers him as someone from make-believe.
āThat is,ā Ray goes to the attic and finds an old photograph,Ā āuntil your mom actually saw him one day when she took you to the park,āĀ
Julie looks at it. There she was, as a little girl, next to a boy the same age. Both of them smiling goofily at the camera.Ā
āHeās.. heās real?ā She gapes,Ā āWhy didnāt you tell me?āĀ
Ray frowns,Ā āYou came back the week after this was taken, but he didnāt show up. We havenāt been able to see him for the rest of the summer. You seemed really upset and you didnāt want to talk about him anymore...āĀ
Julie takes the photo and slips it in her next letter, and asks to meet.Ā
Sheās an absolute nervous wreck, waiting for him at their spot, at the time they agreed on. Because all of the sudden, this is real. Heās real. As real as her growing feelings for him. What if he doesnāt feel the same way? Or what if he does but he takes one look at her and is disappointed?Ā
But he shows up to the spot and sheās forced to confront him.Ā
Itās awkward at first. Neither of them knowing what to say to the person theyāve been writing to for months now. Speaking is different, not as easy.Ā
Luke eventually talks. About how he used to run off to the park whenever he was lonely and how he had thought he imagined up a friend to play with while he was there.Ā
About how his mom eventually found out about him sneaking out and grounded him for the whole summer.Ā
About how, to this day, he and his mom have a strained relationship, leading him to take a trip down memory lane to their spot in the park one night, where he found the letter.Ā
āWhy did you write back?ā
Luke sighs, āYou were hurting. I was too when I found the letter. But reading it, reading it brought all of those happy memories back. And it was, like, familiar, I donāt know, like-ā
āLike coming home? In a way?āĀ
āExactly,ā He pats the tree that makes up their special spot,Ā āThis was a home for a bit. For you and me, wasnāt it?ā
Julie nudges him playfully, āOr a castle?āĀ
āAnd a pirate ship,ā
āAnd the space ship! Donāt forget about the aliensāĀ
Luke barks out a laugh,Ā āHow could I ever forget about Ambassador Slimy of Planet Spaghetti?ā
Then the talking becomes easier. The two make laps around the park, just catching up and learning more about each otherās lives now that they found out theyāre both very real.Ā
Itās getting dark as they reach Julieās car, when she decides to bring up that particular letter.Ā
āYou said something about taking me to a Winter Ball,āĀ
Luke flushes instantly,Ā āOh that. Itās just my school is having one of those winter dances. I called it a ball, you know, because you were my princess and everything.āĀ
She raises an eyebrow
āI mean like when we played pretend! Remember? Man, sorry, Iām spacing right now. This is getting real awkward-āĀ
āLuke, are you asking me to go to the dance with you?āĀ
He stuffs his hands in pockets, gazing at the ground,Ā āUh... yeah?āĀ
She smiles,Ā āI would love to go with you.āĀ
The smile he gives in return has Julie kicking herself for going so long without figuring out the mystery sooner. How can she go back to writing letters when heās looking at her like that?Ā
āI should get going,āĀ
āOf course,ā Luke turns to walk away, but whirls around,Ā āHey, maybe we can exchange numbers? I figured you need a break from reading my chicken scratch,āĀ
āGood idea,āĀ
They trade their numbers, even their social media handles, and Julie soon finds herself driving home.Ā
She barely makes it to her room when her phone dings. Glancing at the notification, she smiles to herself at reading the message:
Park? Same time next week?
#jatp#julie and the phantoms#juke#julie x luke#luke x julie#julie molina#luke patterson#i've had this idea brewing up for a while#but this is perfect#so many lines from the show can be totally woven into this#you've chosen a guy that doesn't really exist...
WHO:Ā Nishinoya Yu x Reader
FORMAT:Ā short story
-
Ice skating is a very amazing thing to do during the holiday times. Itās super fun since you get to glide on the ice freely and no one will judge. Ice skating takes patience and skill to just stand up straight without falling.Ā
Today you were testing that patience with your boyfriend Nishinoya on the ice.
You guys had gotten changed into some fairly warm yet moveable clothing for your ice skating date today at the cityās local ice skating rink.Ā
A hat, warm leggings, a baggy sweater with a turtle neck underneath, some warm socks, mittens, scarf and a warm yet light weight jacket was all you needed to be set for ice skating. This was your time skating so it was quite nerve-wracking and sorta scary.
āHey baby, you ready to go?ā Noya had asked grabbing the car keys and placing a kiss on your cheek.
āYup!ā As you stood up from the ground to put on some shoes and picking up the bag with your skates.
āLetās go!!!ā Noya opened the door for you and him as you guys left your house to head to the skate rink.
Originally Noya didnāt plan on telling you about going to skate but he got a little bit excited and spilled it out. As the both of you were heading to the destination in Noyaās car, both of you were jamming to Christmas music that played on the local Christmas radio station.
Noya had this thing where, when he was the driver, he would have one hand on the steering wheel and the other laced with your hand or to have a grasp of your thigh. Itās comfortable for him to have some sort of touch on you.
āYour destination will be found on the left.ā as the navigator stated.
āAnddd we are here.ā Noya went to turn into the parking lot to find an empty slot for the car. He went through many lanes and finally found a parking space that was near the skating rink but still sorta far from sight.
āBabe, let me show you some mad parking skills.ā Noya sent you a wink, and you shook your head in disapproval.
āJust be careful you donāt hit that-ā as the car bumped back,Ā ācar.ā
āWhoops... Itās fine though, weāll just buy them candy and write them a note.ā
āNoya!āĀ
āWhat? I aināt got money on me. You know Iām broke.ā
āFine, but at least make sure itās expensive candy because if we get cheap candy, itās gonna seem like we donāt care much.ā
āFair enough. Now, letās get out of this car and go skating!!!ā Noya kissed your lips and you kissed back. He went for another one but you pushed back.
āWe can go skating after we buy the candy.ā
āBut babeee,ā
āBaby, the nearest store is literally a 5 minute walk. Relax, the ice rink doesnāt close yet.ā
āOkay, fine. You win. But once we get back, we are speeding to the rink. Like, speed will be on our side when we come back.ā
āYeah, yeah. Letās go now.ā You finished talking before opening your door carefully to leave the vehicle with Nishinoya shutting his side of the car to meet you at the end of the car with his hand out.
āMake sure to lock the doors.ā you informed Noya.
āAlready done, now hurry, we got to go buy that candy fast or we wonāt skate for long.ā Noya dragged your hand with you to go find the nearest store. You guys had decided to leave the skates back in the car as you were going to come back to place the candy by the hit vehicle.
-
āAwh, babe look! They have these here!ā Noya had pointed out to an old childhood snack.
āWhat? No way! We have to get them for later.ā
āDefinitely. How many do you think we need?ā Nishinoya had asked staring at the box of childhood snacks.
āHow about ten? We would both get five each.ā
āSmart thinking.ā your boyfriend had agreed before dumping in ten of the childhood snacks into the basket that Nishinoya was holding.
āLetās pick this brand of chocolate. Theyāre kind of expensive looking and have a decent amount for itās price.ā You picked up a box of chocolates that looked rather expensive looking.
āEh, whatever works. Now can we pleaseee go back to skate? Weāve literally raided the candy aisle for a solid fifteen minutes.ā
āOkay, okay, fine. But we also need to write a small note, so Iāll dash to the school supplies section to buy a small wad of paper and some pens.ā
āMake sure to get stickers! They have to be the glittery ones!ā
āYeah! Yeah! Iāll go right now!ā waving a hand in the air to signal your leave. You went to aisle nine where they kept the school supplies.
Searching for the paper and pen was easy, you even grabbed some markers to add some colour. Moving onto the stickers, it was hard. It was hard only because there were so many options for stickers. They had so many varieties of stickers. Ranging from flowers, animals, certain characters from different series, puffy stickers, and even simple glitter stickers. Too many stickers, yet so little money.
āBaby, what is taking you so long?ā Noya had walked down the aisle as he stared at you in confusion.
āSo many stickers, yet so little space and money...ā You mumbled staring at the stickers.
āStickers? Whatās with the- oh... Wow... Thereās so many.āĀ
āI know... Iāve been staring at them for a solid five minutes admiring them.ā
āYeah, I can see why... But we need to really hurry up. The rink is gonna close soon, Y/N!āĀ
āOkay, okay, okay! Letās just grab these two.ā your hand reached for the glittery stars and glittery minion stickers. Noya let out his hand and you latched on as you guys sped to the cash register to pay for the stuff.
-
Nearly tripping over your own feet, both of you managed to hurry back to Noyaās car as you quickly scribbled on an apology, randomly placed stickers on the apology note before throwing in the candy in the oversized bag Nishinoya had picked out and sneakily yet hurryingly placed the bag on their hood.
āLet me get the skates, and we are good to go.ā your boyfriend smiled before opening his trunk to pull out two pairs of skates.Ā āYou ready, Y/N?ā
āNot really.ā
āGood enough!ā Noya had grabbed ahold of your hand before dragging you to the ice rank.
āWow...ā you said in amusement at the many families and couples that came alongside the pretty lights that were set up around the rink.
āIsnāt it so pretty?ā your boyfriend asked staring at the lights.
āI could stare at them forever.ā
āI know, I know. Now, letās get on the ice shall we?ā Noya pulled you over to a seating bench to put on the skates.Ā āHere babe, slide your foot in.ā
You slid your foot into the skate as Noya laced it up for you.
āNow, the other one.ā Again you followed suite and he finished it up for you.Ā
āLet me just tie mine up real quick and we can go on the ice together.ā Nodding at Noyaās statement as you watched him lace his skates.
āBaby, Iām kind of scared to go on the ice.ā
āRelax, you got this. We can take easy small steps. Come on now. Take my hand, princess.ā You grasped Noyaās hand tightly as you wobbled your way to the rink side.Ā āIām going to go on the ice first and guide you through, okay?ā
You immediately latched onto the side of the rink as Noya let go of his hand to step onto the ice. He laughed at your reaction and you sent him a glare.
āBabycakes, itās alright silly. Grab onto my arm.ā Your hands latched immediately onto this arms as you tried to balance.Ā āWoah, easy, easy, girl. Youāre doing a good job.ā
āAm I really, though?ā
āYes. Now slowly take one glide forward.ā You followed his orders and slowly did so but wobbled again. You took another glide forward still clutching onto Noya.
āYouāre doing amazing, baby! Now the other one.āĀ
āW-Woah, this is so cool.ā your eyes sparkled as you glided on the ice with your boyfriend.
āRight! Arenāt you glad I brought you here for a date?ā
āI love it!ā As you begun to glide forward very slowly and slowly took your arms away from your boyfriendās arms.
āYouāre doing so well!ā your boyfriend glided towards you as he reached his arms out to hug your waist and placed a kiss onto your cheek.
āNow that Iāve got the hang of it, letās glide on the ice together?ā you linked your hand with Noyaās warm one and he blushed putting on a big smile.
āMhm, letās go!ā Both of you glided on the ice holding hands and staying close to each other.Ā
-
Both of you lovebirds had been on the ice for a bit, laughing and smiling at each other over small trips and loss of balance on the ice. You guys even did some competitions, but quickly stopped seeing the security guard eying you both which made you both shiver in fear.
You and Noya had agreed to take a break and sat by the side.
āThis by far is the best date, weāve been on.ā Your cheeks hurt from smiling so much after sitting down to take a breather.
āI agree. Though if it werenāt for me, then we wouldnāt have made this new memory.ā
āYouāre absolutely right, sir.ā as you brought Noya down by the collar to give him a kiss on the lips.Ā āThank you, baby.ā
The lights that glowed off the Christmas tree gave Noya the look of a million stars. He was glowing and quite literally showing off the stars in his eyes from that small kiss.
āCan I kiss you again?ā Noya asked as he came closer to your face.
āOf course silly, come here.ā You placed your hands on the side of Noyaās face as he as well followed suite to give you another warm yet passionate kiss.
-
The tree glowed and towered over the people that skated and other people that walked by. The lights shining and being the source of light to create the shadow of two lovers sitting on a bench giving each other warm kisses.Ā
āMerry Christmas, cutie.ā Noya smiled brightly at you.
āMerry Christmas, lover boy.ā you smiled back before going in for another kiss on the lips.
āAhem. I need you two to uh leave. Youāre making it sorta awkward for people to leave the ice rink.ā The security guard from earlier said as the two of you blushed and turned flustered before apologizing profusely.Ā
āW-weāre sorry! Weāll get going, now! Have an amazing holiday, Mr. Security Guard!ā As you dragged Noya out of the exit and rushed to take off your skates.
Both of you rushed your way to the parking lot and sat in the car, and turning on the ignition to get the car started up.
āThat was insane.ā Noya said huffing out air.
āYeah, it was.ā You replied doing the same.Ā
The huffing from both of you slowly went down as you guys calmed down and all that could be heard from the car was the Christmas music that played lightly.
āAnother kiss?ā he asked.
āYou read my mind.ā as the both of you quickly brought your lips to connect to one another and shared the warmth that came from the both of you.
115.
Xie Qingcheng finally doesn't look wary of He Yu anymore after their long investigating discussions.
What is even going on? Why is his health this bad? He Yu please figure it out already and do something about it. I know He Yu keeps observing Xie Qingcheng's health depleting but I really need him to figure out what is really going on?
Okay so He Yu wrapped up his wrists with some clothes so that Xie Qingcheng doesn't notice the cuts. š¤¦āāļø
Okay I just love how meatbun describes the deep love, obsession, yearning and cravings of her of protagonists for Mo Ran and He Yu (can't speak for Mo Xi since I haven't read Yuwu) ...like how they want to merge their bones and flesh with their loved ones and keep them to themselves. Whew!! It's so good!
Awwww this time xie qingcheng willingly left some space for him on the bed but He Yu lied down on the floor. Well I can understand with his continuous urge to own Xie Qingcheng every second it must've been really hard to sleep next to him the first time and not do anything and after everything that happened it would dangerous to attempt to sleep next to him.
Lmao!! Xie Ge is confused why He Yu decided to sleep on the floor when he left space for him to sleep on the bed. He Yu finds him staring at him and so when he asks him why, Xie Qingcheng asks him why he is sleeping on the floor. And there you go another long lame excuse from He Yu about how he doesn't like xie qingcheng's smell, or how thin he is so it's uncomfortable for him when all he wanna do is the opposite of what he says because this way Xie Qingcheng will never find out his feelings š„²
Fuck! No...this entire part made me wanna cry! Like He Yu writing good night in Xie Qingcheng's wechat though he could never send it or say these words to Xie Qingcheng and kissing Xie Qingcheng's WeChat profile picture because he can't really kiss him and if he at least doesn't do this he'll go nuts. Oh wow! And him acknowledging that Xie Qingcheng most definitely thinks of him as a beast and even though Xie Qingcheng is the most strongest and bravest person he knows, everyone has a limit and he doesn't want his desires for Xie Qingcheng to hurt him and finally crush his soul. This was gorgeous!! And so painful and so glorious. He Yu keeping his feelings to himself because he doesn't wanna add to Xie Qingcheng's pain will probably keep him from confessing to him.
The next morning they are off to investigate Lu Yuzhu's daughter. And the farmer insists on taking them there by his tractor and spills that He Yu went to the restaurant by the tractor last night to buy food for Xie QingchengĀ before He Yu could stop him. (Honestly He Yu peaked as the male lead of a rom-com when he did that in chapter 114. lmao)
Xie Qingcheng feels uncomfortable when he hears what He Yu did. He is used to taking care of people like Xie Xue, Chen Man and Li Ruoqiu. No one's ever taken care of him like this. Him and He Yu don't really have any relationships other than being ex-bedmates. This is good Xie Qingcheng needs someone like He Yu, who is not only tenacious in pining but also insistent on taking care of him especially behind his back because this man doesn't take care of himself and he won't allow someone to take care of hims upfront.
The generation gap between He Yu and Xie Qingcheng. Lmao.
Awww Xie ge feeling nostalgic in this village because of all the olds trends here.
Before He Yu were born. My gosh this is hilarious.
This whole trip down memory lane of Xie Qingcheng is so wholesome. I love it. Awww baby Xie Qingcheng was so adorable and lovable, Xie Qingcheng is always so lovable. Xie Qingcheng used to like Pearl milk tea š§Ā
Middle schooler Xie Qingcheng is too cute. I wanna hold him š„ŗš„ŗš„ŗš„ŗ
Lmao He Yu is so picky. He hates boba milk teaš§Xie Qingcheng concludes that the generation gap between them is too big.
According to He Yu however drinking Pearl milk tea š§ and understanding Xie Qingcheng had no connection since Li Ruoqiu who is from a closer generation to Xie Qingcheng probably drank pearl milk tea and was still unable to understand him. Lmao! So obviously no need to drink the poison tea. Hahaha
He Yu is so pressed over Li Ruoqiu being Xie Qingcheng ex wife he's never gonna let it go.
Xie Qingcheng adorably drinking the tea and not smoking for once. I love this.
Okay so Lu Yuzhu's ex husband runs a very shady massage parlour. It's "that" kind of salon apparently.
There is a young girl there both Lu Yuzhu's husband and daughter are not present. She seems to the daughter of Yi Qiang (Lu Yuzhu's husband) and his second wife. She won't let them in thinking they seem suspicious or like cops.
So He Yu's plan is to get in there in disguise as customers. So he makes beards and borrows clothes for their disguse. Wow like what can't this guy do!
Xie qingcheng is shocked to see He Yu's new appearance, he looks like a village local.
He Yu adorably doing Xie Qingcheng's make up. So cuteš„ŗ
Okay, but seriously this chapter was so good.
Wordcount: 2070
CATCH UP HERE
Summary: It's 2010 and youāre back in Lawrence to settle your familyās affairs after your mom passed. You hope to be in and out of town before anyone really knows youāre there, but that doesn't go as plan. Will a certain green eyed mechanic convince you to come back to the life you once had in Lawrence? Or are you going to return to the real world as soon everything is settled.Ā
Three weeks had passed since that night by the lake, and the farm was back in pristine condition. You had worked tirelessly, day in and day out, with some help from your friends of course. It had been so great to reconnect with them all. Honestly, you were the happiest that you had been in a while. There still was a dull ache in your heart though, one that seemed to strengthen every time you were with Dean. It was hard to be around him, to be his friend when you knew that was all it was ever going to be. And now that there was nothing left to keep your days occupied, that old restless feeling had settled in your bones again.Ā
This life wasn't meant for you. Not on this farm. Not Dean. Not even your friends. It was an unachievable dream, just out of reach, and it was slowly driving you insane. Hope had ignited in you that night by the lake, maybe, just maybe there was a chance for you and Dean, but nothing had happened since then to tell you that that was the case. So now you were convinced you had put more meaning in his words than was really there.Ā
Some days you would stop by the pet shop and say hi to Red, which now was something you looked forward to. Donna told you that he had been a lot happier since you started visiting him, and at times he was a real chatterbox now. You would let him on your shoulder and walk around the store while you talked softly to him, treating him some sunflower seeds here and there. Red greeted you with a high pitched hello every time you walked through the doors, and when you left, he would reach his little foot out as if he was trying to stop you from leaving. At times you wondered if he would make a good travel companion. If he could come with you in your truck as you drove around the country, but those thoughts were quickly pushed aside.Ā
It was another beautiful Saturday morning, music was blasting from your old boombox as you cleared out your closet. It was an old mixed CD that Dean had given you way back when, filled with Metallica, Zeppelin, Skynyrd, and everything else Dean listened to. REO Speedwagon played in the background as you found the stacks of old diaries in the far right corner, hidden under some other junk. A smile played on your lips as you pulled them out, five of them in total, all with different covers around them.Ā
āThis is bound to be awkward,ā you mumbled to yourself as you picked them all up and carried them with you down stairs.Ā
After filling your cup with coffee, you brought it all with you to the front porch to start what would most definitely be an embarrassing trip down memory lane.Ā
June 1st 1995
Dear diary.Ā
I had a huge fight with Jo today. We were gonna hang out after my guitar lesson and she just kept houding me to playā¦ IN FRONT OF EVERYONE. I asked her nicely to back off, but she wouldn't leave it alone. Then she said I was just scared of embarrassing myself in front of Dean and I was sooooooo mad at her. Likeā¦ I swore her to secrecy when I told her about my crush on him and nowā¦ Godā¦ I don't think I can ever face him again.Ā
She's such a BITCH sometimes.Ā
The word ābitchā was spelled out in big red letters, and you couldn't help but chuckle at your fifteen year old self. Gone were the days when your troubles were this innocent.Ā
There was no entry for a couple of days, just some doodles of Dean's name over andĀ over again.Ā
June 5th 1995
So I made up with Jo. She apologized which I know is, like, super hard for her to do, so weāre good again. She told me Dean has been acting really strange the last few days. Been all quiet and stuff. She said that Benny told her that Cas had told him that Dean asked Cas if he thought I had a crush on him.Ā
Jo thinks Dean has a crush on me too, but I don't think so. The last girlfriend he had was Lisa Braeden and she's so beautiful. No way I can compete with that. I just need to get over these stupid feelings so things can go back to normal.Ā
You skimmed through a few more entries, stuff about tests at school and plans for the summer holiday, then some thoughts and ideas for your birthday. It was all very tame.Ā
But thenā¦Ā
June 14th 1995
HE KISSED ME!!!! I can't believe Dean actually kissed meā¦ and on my birthday. It was so perfect, and his lips were so soft. It was better than I could ever have imagined. I'm so happy right now I could just scream. He asked me if I would go with him to the lake tomorrow and I literally can't wait. I can't even stop smiling.Ā
It was the perfect first kiss with the perfect guy.Ā
Then there was a drawn heart with Deanās name in it. Without realizing it, your fingers ghosted over your lips as you recalled the kiss. It was a bit frustrating that you hadn't written it down in more detail, but the butterflies that coursed through you told you that you remembered it just fine.Ā
Time didn't really register as you sat and flipped through the pages of your diaries, so when Dean pulled up, you didn't know how long you had sat there. The coffee had long been forgotten and was now too cold to drink.Ā
āWhat's all this?ā Dean asked as he plumped down in the empty chair.Ā
āMy old diaries,ā you said with a smile. āI found them earlier in my closet. It's so awkward, but I just can't stop reading,ā you explained with a chuckle. It was hard to ignore the uproar of butterflies in your stomach at the sight of Dean, but you did your best to push it aside.Ā
āLay it on me,ā he gently ordered with that cheeky grin of his.Ā
āYou want me to read you my diary?ā You asked in bewilderment.Ā
āYes!ā he exclaimed, laughing.Ā
āBrace yourself for some grade A second hand embarrassment, Winchester,ā you warned and he made a point of getting comfortable in his seat. You opened the book on a random page and started reading. āJune 21, 1995. It's been a week since Dean and I kissed for the first time, and I still can't believe he asked me to be his girlfriend. Like, for real-ā Dean chuckled and you chanced a look up at him, but he urged you to continue. āI mean, I have never been anyone's girlfriend before so I'm not really good at it I think. Like, can I just hold his hand whenever I want now? Or kiss him? āCuz I want to do that all the time. I just don't want him to feel like I'm too clingy or something like that.ā Your cheeks burned with embarrassment.Ā
Dean just chuckled. āWhy didn't you tell me?āĀ
āAbout my insecurities?-ā he nodded -āI didn't want you to think I was a dweeb,ā you said as if it was the most obvious thing.Ā
āThat ship sailed long before that,ā he said, erupting into laughter when you stuck your tongue out at him. āIf it makes you feel any better, I wanted to hold your hand and kiss you all the time too,ā he said in an exaggerated sweet tone.Ā
āHa! Wish I knew that back then,ā you mused.Ā
āGo on,ā he said eagerly, pointing to the book in your hand.Ā
With a deep sigh, you opened to another random page. āAugust 7th, 1995. Dean took me to the lake today to watch the sunset. It was beautiful. We talked about ādoing itā.ā As you read the words out loud you giggled and hid your face behind the book. āOh my god, Deanā¦ It's so awful,ā you whined behind the book.Ā
Dean found your embarrassment adorable, especially the smile that followed it, and the laughter. Your nose always scrunched up when you were embarrassed and it was nice to see that hadn't changed. āGo on,ā he urged. āI wanna know if we ādid itā.ā Although he knew perfectly well that you didn't, not that night.Ā
āReally?ā you asked, peeking up over the book.Ā
āHell yeah. I'm invested in this now, don't leave me hanging.āĀ
āI told Dean I was scared because I hadn't done it before. He said he hadn't either. I was so sure he had done it with Lisa, but apparently that was just a rumor. I want to do it with him, though. I can't think of a better person to lose my āVā card to. He said he would wait for as long as I wanted.ā Even as awful as this was, it was very sweet in its innocence.Ā
āI remember that night,ā he said, smiling. It wasn't that cheeky grin from a couple of seconds ago, though, it was the smile one had when recalling a fond memory. āIt was a really great night.āĀ
āIt was,ā you agreed. It was nice to share this with him, even though it was embarrassing, it was a story that the two of you shared, and it was nice to have this reminder of how good things once were for you. You flipped the pages once more, now looking for a specific entry. āAugust 12th 1995. Dean and I finally did it. It was at the lake in the bed of my truck, but it was as perfect as could be. He was so gentle with me, and patient. It hurt a lot at first, but Dean went really slow and it got better. There was a little blood afterwards and I was super embarrassed, but he didn't care. Iām so glad Dean was my first, because I don't think anyone else would make me feel so safe. Dean always makes me feel safe.ā The words trailed off and you looked up at Dean, the air suddenly thick around you.Ā
He cleared his throat before he spoke. āWell, there you have it.āĀ
āSorry. I didn't know it would turn soā¦ real,ā you said quietly, closing the book and placing it on the table.Ā
āNo - it's not - don't.... A lifetime ago, right?āĀ
āRight,ā you agreed. Clearing your throat, you got to your feet and rubbed your clammy hands on your jeans. āWant a beer?ā Now, you were eager to change the subject to just about anything else.
Dean looked up at you with apprehension as he accepted the bottle from you. He didn't know how much longer he could hold back his feelings. It was a decision made with his brain rather than his heart, to wait until he was sure you weren't gonna leave again. Every day was a new challenge, and he had to convince himself all over again that this was for the best, even though he desperately wanted you back in his arms. It was so clear to him now, why no relationship heād had worked out, because no matter who they were or how happy they made him, they were never you. No one could take your place in his heart, not ever. āYou know-ā he cleared his throat and shifted in his seat, looking anywhere but right at you -āthat night meant a lot to me too. And not just because I got laid for the first time,ā he said with a chuckle. Typical Dean to add some joke into a serious conversation. āBut because it was you.āĀ
The truth he spoke was clear in his emerald orbs and it damn near melted your heart. āI guess it was pretty great. Especially for two teenagers who were too immature to say the word āsexā out loud,ā you mused, a crooked smile on your lips.Ā
āYou know what I think we should do?ā Dean asked after a moment of silence.Ā
āWhat?āĀ
āWe should grab some beers and head up to the lake to watch the sunset. Bring some blankets and stuff like we used to do, you know?āĀ
āI would like that very much,ā you said earnestly.Ā
Disclaimer: Another long one and fair warning on this.
"This is much more gushy than your last book"- Piniet
Lilith: "I do not appreciate being bait for you two."
Shortly after Luz's recent visit to the Owl house, two schemers made contact.
Willow: "You're a pretty obvious target. If she's too far gone, you'd be the first to know."
Gus: "Besides, we were watching... from a safe distance. If she tried anything..."
Lilith: "Enough! Just take your ingredient and go."
The Clawthorne sister handed the brown bottle Luz drank from.
Gus(grossed out): "Score one for back wash."
Willow: "Thanks again for your help. We want to believe Luz is back. But just in case..."
Lilith: "I'll inform my sister of tonight. So, if you two don't mind?"
Taking their cue to leave, the young duo set off. Gus would take their "prize" while Willow got Amity ready for the next ruse.
[A few nights later, in the woods]
Tonight, the first official date for Amity and Luz.
Noceda was still insistent on meeting with everyone. But there was one request that kept popping up since day one.
Luz had been pestering her girlfriend about a date for a while. The Blight girl had been putting it off. Until the lass discovered Luz's new masked alter ego. The all powerful witch was still feared around town. But with a disguise, she preformed illusion plays. Most notably, Lumity's biggest hits. Some children would run up to the New Coven leader after seeing one of the shows.
Not wanting to be embarrassed again, Amity agreed to the date, in exchange for canceling Lumity theater shows.
Now, dressed in casual wear, she waited what her date had planned.
Amity: "I can't believe I'm doing this."
A purple haze creeped around her. Knowing full well what this was, she called out to her theatrical partner.
Amity: "A young girl, all alone in woods, with purple smoke floating around. Someone's pretty confident?"
Her date emerged from the clearing.
Luz: "I like to make an impression."
Expecting to see her in a "Good witch Azura" outfit, this was different.
Luz stood in something close to her old grom outfit. But the tutu skirt was replaced by top hat.
Luz: "Now, if you'll just let me take the lead?"
Amity took her escort by the arm. Walking together, she couldn't help but notice Luz's constantly twirling finger.
Amity: "Should I be worried? I was expecting..."
Luz: "The good witch, Luzura? Too obvious. Figured 'Amity in wonderland' was the way to go."
Her date didn't get it.
Luz: "I'll show it to you someday."
Coming to a halt, a vine picked them up and set them on a branch.
Luz: "See down there? That's where I first saw you. Witch drama with a hint of foreshadowing."
Luz created illusions to recreate the memory for them. While the show carried on, she leaned closer to her lady friend.
Luz: " Look at us! Top student and her new favorite abomination, sitting in a tree. The stories people could write about us!"
Amity brought her hand up, blocking Luz's advance. Playfully pushing her off, she knew Luz wouldn't get hurt on the way down.
Luz(overly dramatic): "Ah yes, how tragic. These two wouldn't know how they felt until it was possibly too late."
Summoning a abomination creature (much like the one that beat Grometheus), the two were swept away on to the next stage. The forest appearing to clearly be distorted. The land and trees twisting into a single path.
Luz(smirking): "But what if things were different?"
And just like that, Hexside stood before them.
Luz: "What do you say? A do over?"
Before she could answer, her date ran inside.
Amity( under her breath): "I'm pretty sure they locked this up for the night."
Stepping in, the flares lit the way. She heard Luz's echoes; narrating from somewhere. Just a single door seemed to be around throughout the entire hallway.
Luz's voice: "Just another day at a magic school, nothing out of the ordinary."
The green haired girl cautiously entered. Inside, she saw her date in two corners. One tucked behind a curtain and the other sitting at a desk.
Real Luz: "Pay no attention to the cool fox behind the curtain."
The other sat staring out the window. But her hair was shorter, like it was originally. She also wore a purple and white sailor uniform. Luz was an anime fan, after all.
Amity, once again not getting the reference, stood back and watched.
Another Luz walked onto the scene. This had her hair slicked back and wore a darker uniform.
Bully Luz: "Hey, Luuzer, stopping mucking up the place and get lost already!"
Real Luz: "What's this? This cute as an otter school girl is getting bullied. Will anyone stand by her against this juvenile foe? Preferably before I run out of things outta this thesaurus?"
Taking her cue, it made sense Luz would set this up. A redemption for a former bully.
This was still weird, though. The false punk faced the intervenor.
Bully Luz: "What?! Got something to say, little miss... sorry. I can't do this, even if we are just pretending. You can see where I'm going with this, right?"
Nodding, Amity used an abomination arm to punch the "bully" right in the gut. She poofed on impact, attracting the other one's attention.
Student Luz: "Well, who are you, my sassy savior?"
Amity: "Luz, maybe this isn't such a good idea?"
Bolting from the curtain, her date seemed startled by the question.
Real Luz: "Ok, so maybe I shouldn't have gone anime on you. I thought for sure high school magical girl was a safe bet.
Fear not, I have a back up plan!"
A ball of fire hovered outside the window. Luz picked her date up and tossed her out. Amity slid down what appeared to be a slide made of ice. A little shaken, she almost didn't notice her wardrobe change. Her grudgby uniform, in all its glory.
Luz stood by her, showcasing hers as well.
Luz: "Behold! Powered by nothing but their bond, two partners face off against painful dilemma."
Amity sighed at two abominations who looked suspiciously like her siblings.
Amity: "Why abominations this time?"
Luz(winking and nudging): "We can have more fun this way. Grudgby is about getting down and dirty, right?
Besides, we both know you like this. Just us up against Edric and Emira. Ready to blow off some steam?
Amity(trying to hide a smile): "You need three for grudgby."
Luz: "It's a personal match. Stop sweating the small stuff and take down your brother and sister."
For the next ten minutes, things went pretty well. Amity even called for a rematch.
But things died down after a half hour. True to form, Luz brought them to a new setting. Clearly not wanting the fun to end, new attire came with it.
Both wore what appeared to be a blend of knight armor and witch robes.
The giant Otabin mutant was poised before them, in a burning library.
Luz: "Well, what do you say us fearless champions defeat this... monstrosity?! Come, it's the only way to return it to it's original form."
Amity: "Ok, that's enough."
Raising two abomination arms, she handed this date a hiatus.
Both Otabin and Luz were held for a chat.
Amity: "You've been getting pretty good at making illusions."
Luz: "It's important to keep up with shows. You know, for the kids."
Amity: "You know, I get it. The themes and trips down memory lane. You have no idea what you're doing."
Luz blushed after realizing she'd been caught.
Luz: "I didn't date much before I came here. Even after I 'left', experience wasn't happening. So, this is my first ever date."
Amity: "Our first ever date! Now, let me lead!"
Releasing her girlfriend, Amity walked over with a new suggestion. Or rather, an old one.
Amity(reaching out): "Well then, if that's settled, may I have this dance?"
Grinning from the nostalgia, the two joined hands and grabbed shoulders.
Luz set her phone down and started a playlist. And with that, they lost track of time.
However, it became obvious that something had been on their minds.
Amity: "Listen, I know things have been hard for you. We-I haven't exactly made it easy. But I'm just afraid. I wanted you back for so long. When you came back, I didn't see you. I was too scared of the monster you used to be. So afraid... I thought about using these."
The young Blight lady pulled out memory tweezers from her pocket.
Amity: "I just had to know. Where is it? What are you hiding? Who are you really?
Well, now I know. You're still that weird human girl who cares alot. Which is why I can't call you my girlfriend until I ask. Luz Noceda, will you be my... mine?"
Embarrassment caused her to mess up the ending. Luz blinked for a couple of seconds. She couldn't help but let out a short laugh. Amity's face was red enough. She quickly tried to explain herself.
Luz: "Querida, I've been yours for a while now. But yes, just to make it official. And since we're sharing, there's something I want to ask you.
I love being back and having magic at my fingertips. But I want to see my mom again. I meant what I said. I came back to ask for help in that department. Since magic, witches, and demons isn't really a... credible story, where I'm from. I need you guys to come with me.
So, what I'm asking you is... do you want to meet my mama?"
Amity's fearless champion was nervous about a "meet the parents" scenario.
Amity: "After tonight, you might want to teach me a crash course on your life back home?
I mean, yes, I'll do what I can to make that happen."
Filled with joy, once again, Amity became caught in a famous Noceda hug. But this time was different. Just as Luz began to pull away, Amity surprised her with a kiss.
Dumbfounded, Luz just stared at her.
Amity was on the verge from being happy to worried.
Amity: "What?"
Luz: "It's just I'm usually the one who..."
Giggling amongst themselves, they couldn't help but remember the books they used to read.
Amity: "Yeah, well, take a look around."
No longer standing in a library of ash and kindling, they were standing at the center of Hexside's gymnasium. The very spot where they both originally were supposed to face Grom.
Luz's illusions had faded without her even realizing it.
Luz: "I guess, show's over?"
Amity: "Not yet."
Whispering in instructions, Amity finally made Luz blush( on purpose).
Illusion magic changed their appearance to that of their first grom night.
Amity: "One more dance."
This time, Luz's hands went to Amity's waist. Meanwhile, Blight arms rested on her shoulders.
Luz: "I think I want to tell you where the staff is."
Bonus:
Willow and Gus anxiously waited in the manor.
Willow knew, Amity was the only one Luz would give her undivided attention to. They used the date for some much needed time to complete their mission.
Now, they needed to report what they learned to the girl at the dead center of all of this.
The door opened and a certain green haired witch walked in, with delight.
Gus: "Where have you been?!"
Amity: "On my date with Luz. And the real question is, what are you two doing waiting in my house for?"
Willow: "Your family let us in before they stepped out."
Amity: "They left? You two? By yourselves? In a manor?"
Gus: "Your parents warned us not to touch anything. Then your brother and sister told us to take something. Honestly, those are some mixed messages.
Now, can you please just listen to what we've got. You really need to know what Luz's up to."
Willow: "Wait, what's our code word?"
Gus maybe the illusionist of the trio. But Willow was picking up on some suspicious vibes.
Amity: "I can't really remember that, right now."
At that moment, Willow caused every plant in the manor to whip towards Amity.
Willow: "There wasn't one."
Dodging plant creatures and Gus clones, the illusion came apart.
Luz stood before them.
Luz: "Well, I wanted to see you guys, again. How have things been?
...
What have I been up to, hmm? Just what were you going to tell Amity?"
That familiar glow appeared, causing her dear friends to gulp at the sight.
Luz: "Come on, guys, it's me. I'm not going to hurt you. I want us to be friends, like we used to be. You can trust me on that."
Not buying that, they managed to corner her. She was holding back, not even striking back once.
Luz: "Willow? Gus? Come on, I thought we were still friends?"
Right then, they went for their shots. But as the blows landed, she disappeared in a blue puff.
Luz: "Now I gotta know."
Before they had a second, a sleep spell was cast from behind.
The duo was unconscious before the real empress. Who just so happened to pull out a pair of memory tweezers from her pocket.
Empress Luz: "What have you two been up to?"
also,Ā reminding everyone that this story features a named oc because iām still very unfamiliar with writing second person reader inserts. iām not aiming for strict accuracy in this story, and all criminal investigation/forensics knowledge i have has been gathered by watching crime drama/procedural dramas! my knowledge of geography is also not totally accurate so apologies for that. once again, one thing right by @hobiosā prompted me to write a police inspector! jungkook story. would highly recommend reading that because itās probably one of my most favorite pieces of writing!
21st December
"Is this how you conduct a sample analysis?! Where did you even train? I've half a mind to report you and get you kicked out!!"
Yuri stopped at her desk, surprised to hear Seulgi's yelling so loudly that she could be heard all the way from the floor above. She was usually extremely calm and even-tempered, but the past couple of days had seen her irritable, snappy, and downright furious.
"Dr. Ahn sounds really angry," whispered Jisoo, clutching a file close to her chest. "I've never heard her yell at anybody before. I hope she's okay."
"I'm sure everything's fine," said Jeon, walking over to his desk and dropping a bunch of files on it. "Can I talk to you for a second?"
Yuri raised an eyebrow at him, but complied nonetheless. They walked outside, standing near a clump of trees outside of earshot of anyone in the station.
"Guess who I've just brought in on suspicion of murder for the 2nd Nov case?" he asked, lowering his voice.
"No!" gasped Yuri. "Minhyuk?"
"Yep. He's been in the country for a while now. Fancy giving me a hand with the interview?"
"Me? I mean," she bit her lip. "I wasn't part of the original investigation."
"I know, but in light of what you've found out and the fact that you're now my partner, Goh thinks it's okay."
"You told Goh?!"
"I had to. I can't restart the investigation without his permission."
Jeon stared at her for a few moments, trying to gauge her reaction. "So, what do you say?"
"Alright. Let's nail this bastard."
Ahreum was late. She had a meeting with one of her professors to decide on which medical stream she'd specialize in. Despite using forensics as an excuse to distract Seulgi, she was seriously considering it now. Deciding to pursue medicine had been a drastic career switch for Ahreum, and a lot of people had questioned her decision relentlessly. But if there was something she had learnt in the years following her parents' divorce, it was patience and the ability to block out irrelevant conversations. Namjoon had always been immersed in his studies, barely affected by the bitterness existing between their parents. Ahreum, barely in high school, felt lost and helpless during those times. After the divorce, things had become less tumultuous and she was able to see her parents as individual entities. That was when she realized that her father was never going to like any of her decisions, no matter how hard she tried to please him, and her mother preferred to stay aloof at the best of times. Ahreum learnt pretty early in life, that she needed to be there for herself. She loved her brother and parents, though the latter a lot less than the former. Her decision to study English Literature and Creative Writing had been a spur of the moment one - dictated more by the fact that her high school boyfriend was going to study at a major Arts university. She didn't really regret any of her decisions. Her degree had led her to finding a hobby she adored - photography. And having a freelance job meant that she could stay with Namjoon - who earned a significantly larger amount than her - and move whenever he needed to move as well. This was also how she had met Taehyung 3 years ago - a happy coincidence of events when she had been taking pictures outside the museum at Seoul. They had started talking about art and photography, eventually realizing that they lived in the same part of the city. In addition to Yuri, she also considered Taehyung to be her best friend. She had seen him during one of his lowest moments when Seokjin had left home; and then some time later when he had found Seokjin living in the town Ahreum and Namjoon had recently shifted to, she had stayed by him as he grappled with his anger and frustration towards his older brother until an eventual reconciliation.
But at this moment, she was beginning to lose patience with him. Five minutes before she was about to leave for her meeting, she received a bunch of frantic texts from him.
8.25 am
T: ahreum?? are u up??
T: will u come with me?
8.27 am
T: hey
T: i didnt sleep much so i dont wanna drive there
8.28 am
T: are u sleeping?
T: ???
He knew she had a meeting today. He knew how important the meeting was for her. She had spoken about it many times. Not for the first time, Ahreum wondered whether Taehyung cared about her beyond what directly concerned him. If it wasn't somehow relevant to him, he never seemed to remember much. It was a careless apathy that had hurt her during the beginning of their friendship, but she had accepted it as a part of him.
Her meeting was at 9 am and she usually needed 20 minutes to get there on her bike. She closed her eyes and mentally rehearsed the points she was going to bring up during her meeting. Her phone pinged once more, breaking her concentration.
8.30 am
T: hey
T: can u pick me up?
She frowned and shot a quick text before pocketing her phone and strapping on her helmet.
A: sorry have a meeting... talk later
As Ahreum sped through the narrow lanes, she was convinced that there was no way she was going to talk to Taehyung today. He would have to manage on his own for once.
Yuri and Jeon sat across from a very nervous Park Minhyuk, his bloodshot eyes indicating that he had been brought in after a rough night.
"Good morning." Jeon began the interview, his notes stacked neatly in front of him. "You were very hard to get a hold of, Mr. Park. Specifically because your company categorically states that you've been out of the country for business."
"I-" His face was white as a sheet.
"When we called your office, we were told that you are often out of the country on business trips. Short trips," Jeon flipped through his notes. "A fortnight, 20 days at max. Your secretary was very obliging - he told us that you traveled on October 12th and returned on October 27th. Then left the country again on November 1st and returned on November 16th. Another trip between November 22nd and December 6th. And finally, one more on December 10th from which you still haven't returned."
"Your phone records are very interesting, Mr. Park," said Yuri, joining in. "I'm DI Choi, by the way, and I will be assisting DI Jeon as his partner on the case. Now -" she opened the file in front of her and took out a particular page - "is this your cell phone number?"
"Yes, but-"
"Our Telecomms division looked over recent activity over the last 3-4 months. While your office confirms that you have been on multiple trips out of the country from October onwards, your phone has been operating in Korea for almost two months. Can you tell us why?"
Minhyuk remained silent, his hands clenched on the table.
"Do you recognize this?" Yuri placed a plastic bag on the table and moved it towards him.
The remaining color drained from Minhyuk's face as he stared at the ring inside the plastic bag.
"Let me help you out, Mr. Park," she continued. "This is an heirloom from your mother's side of the family. There was three such rings - one buried with your mother, one on your brother's finger, and one found at the scene of Son Eunbi's murder. Can you tell us how your ring found its way to a murder scene?"
"I didn't kill her!" Minhyuk looked like he was going to pass out. Jeon poured some water into a glass and passed it to him.
"She was dead when I got there!" he said after gulping down the water. His hands were shaking by this point.
"If she was dead when you got there, why didn't you call the police?"
"I..."
Faced with a possible murder charge, Minhyuk looked frightened but not nearly as forthcoming with an alibi as one would have hoped.
"Mr. Park," Yuri spoke after a period of silence. "Did you know that Ms. Son had a three year old daughter named Gina?"
Minhyuk gulped, his eyes breaking contact with hers. He removed his hands from where they had been clenched on the table, choosing to hide them in his lap.
"Are you Gina's father?" she continued. Minhyuk head shot up at her question.
"H-how did-"
"When did you find out?" she asked.
Minhyuk sighed and rubbed his eyes tiredly. "I guess there's no point in denying it since you know everything." He reached out and finished the remaining water in the glass. "In October, after I came back from a trip, I happened to meet her by chance and Gina was with her. It was odd, the way that she tried to avoid talking to me. And the fact that Gina also had clear grey eyes."
For the first time since the interview started, Yuri realised the resemblance between the Park brothers was limited but striking. Their eyes were the exact same shade of grey - while Jimin looked cold and unwelcoming, Minhyuk's glasses did well to give him a warmer appearance.
"I asked her why she hadn't contacted me when she got pregnant. Or in the three years since Gina was born."
"What did she say?" asked Yuri, softly.
"She was scared that I wouldn't believe her." Tears had started to roll down his cheeks. "I loved her... so much. And then she just disappeared one day. I tried so hard to find her but..."
Jeon poured another glass of water for him.
"I told her how happy I was to hear about Gina. That I wanted us to be a proper family. I was willing to do whatever was necessary if that's what she wanted as well. I think she was beginning to warm up to the idea. I even told my father to postpone my next trip so that I could spend a little more time with both of them. But-"
"But?"
Minhyuk stared at his hands, looking tired and dejected. "He - uh, he wasn't happy when he heard about Gina. My father has very particular expectations."
"What did he say to you? Did he threaten you, Mr. Park?"
Minhyuk let out a soft chuckle. "My father doesn't threaten. He suggests."
"And what did he suggest you do about Gina and Eunbi?" asked Jeon.
"That I stay away from them. For the sake of my inheritance."
"And did you?"
"I was planning to... I-I was meant to travel the next day and I thought I would go and see her once more before I left. But when I got there..."
Minhyuk covered his face with his hands, taking deep breaths to try and calm himself.
"What happened when you got there, Mr. Park?"
"She was lying there... in a pool of blood. Gina was asleep in the back. I-I didn't kill her. You have to believe me."
Yuri and Jeon exchanged a quick look as Minhyuk protested his innocence. They were aware that the homeless man had killed Son Eunbi. The DNA found at the crime scene confirmed the fact that he had stabbed her. But they needed Minhyuk to give them as much information as possible.
"I'm afraid we do not conduct our investigations based on belief, Mr. Park," continued Yuri, shuffling her notes meaningfully. "You still haven't provided us with an alibi for that night. Strange thing - the Park family seem to have a particular aversion towards providing alibis. Your brother was also extremely resistant when we spoke to him."
"You spoke to Jimin? What for?" Minhyuk's expression had changed completely. He looked strangely alert.
"I guess you aren't aware that Jimin was arrested for the murder of Kang Eunwoo on December 15th." Jeon spoke deliberately, hoping to elicit a reaction. And he was successful.
"What?! That's impossible! There's no way he could've done that!"
"Why are you so certain of that?"
"Because he was with me on December 15th!"
"I'm sorry but we can't take you at your word. You can't even provide a proper alibi for yourself on the night of Son Eunbi's murder. How can we be sure that the two of you aren't just covering up for each other?"
It was then that Minhyuk realised that he would need to come clean. There was no way to save Jimin without telling them the entire story.
"Fine," he sighed. "I'll tell you everything."
"Everything?"
"Yes. If it can help Jimin, I'm willing to risk my father finding out."
Yuri glanced at Jeon who gave her an almost imperceptible nod.
"Go on."
"After I saw Eunbi... lying there, I couldn't leave Gina. No matter what my father had said, I couldn't leave my daughter in such a situation. So I... took her away with me."
"Where is Gina now, Mr. Park?" Yuri asked, frowning.
"She's safe."
"Where is she?" asked Jeon, sharply.
"In Busan. I have an apartment there and she's been with me since that day."
"Why didn't you tell the police that you had her? Why does your company believe that you are abroad on a business trip?"
Minhyuk rubbed his eyes tiredly and drank some more water. "I couldn't let my father find out. Jimin and I have an apartment in Busan that we bought under a different name. It was a place our father couldn't find us. Gina's been staying there with me since 2nd November."
"Are you sure your father thinks you're abroad? It doesn't seem like something easy to cover up."
"Jimin helped with that," said Minhyuk, leaning back into the cold metal chair. "He told father that I had run away because he hadn't been understanding of my situation with Gina and Eunbi. Jimin's good at convincing people - it's a talent he's barely ever put to good use."
"So Jimin knew that you were hiding in a secret apartment with your recently discovered daughter?"
"Yes, he did. I have an alibi for 2nd November. I was in a meeting till 9 pm and then stopped for drinks at a nearby fried chicken place till 11 pm. I was a bit tipsy after that, which is why I decided to visit Eunbi and Gina. After taking Gina away from there, I went to Jimin's place, got the keys to the apartment and drove straight there. I think I reached around 2 am."
Yuri jotted down all this information, making a note to check on every new detail that had been mentioned.
"What about December 15th? You said Jimin was with you. Why?" asked Jeon, folding his arms across his chest.
"We meet once a week to make sure everything is going okay," said Minhyuk, pinching the bridge of his nose tiredly. "Sundays are usually the best days for that."
"Where did you meet?"
"At the local ice-cream shop," Minhyuk frowned, trying to remember something. "You know the one near the end of town?"
"The Dairy Berry? Yes, I know which one you're talking about." Jeon gave Yuri a brief nod to confirm that this was a legitimate spot and not something Minhyuk was making up on the spot.
"Gina loves sweet things and I thought it would be easier to take her with me the same day I met Jimin. I think we were there till 10 pm. After that, I dropped Jimin at a bar and drove back home."
"Which bar was this?" asked Yuri.
"Sunset."
"And you drove straight home after that?"
"You can check the dash cam on my car and the security tapes at my apartment building, if you want."
"We definitely will, Mr. Park," said Jeon, surveying him carefully. "In the meantime, you will be in custody until we have verified each and every single thing you just told us. So I suggest you keep yourself hydrated."
Yuri could feel a pair of eyes on her as she spoke to Jisoo and Suho.
"We need to verify everything that Park Minhyuk told us. But there's a lot of ground to cover and we've lost quite a bit of time since the murder of Son Eunbi. So I suggest you recruit some uniformed officers as well." Jisoo jotted down the locations and the times they needed to verify, and nodded to Suho to indicate she had forwarded the details to him. "We need to get the information as soon as possible."
"Will do," said Suho, giving her a reassuring nod.
Yuri waited for them to leave before walking over to the person who had been watching her for a while.
"Did you want to talk about something?" she asked Seulgi.
"I-" Seulgi tugged at her sleek, high ponytail, looking oddly hesitant. She seemed in a better mood than earlier in the morning when she had almost scared one of the interns into leaving the country. "Do you have a minute?"
"Yeah- " Yuri checked the clock on her phone - "just a minute though. I'm waiting for Jeon to get a warrant from Goh."
"Did he-? I mean, Jimin, uh... have you...? You know-" It was strange to see her grappling for words. "Are you certain he's done it?"
Yuri stared at her for a second. This wasn't what she had been expecting Seulgi to talk about. The doctor's relationship with Jimin was even more puzzling than she had originally perceived it.
"We're looking into it right now." She paused, trying to gauge Seulgi's reaction. "But you already know about the blood sample match - that, in itself, is pretty damaging."
"Y-yeah, I know."
Before Yuri could say anything more, Jeon came out of the Chief Inspector's office. "We've got a warrant to search Minhyuk's apartment. Let's go."
Glancing one more time at Seulgi's ashen face, Yuri put on her coat and scarf and followed Jeon out the exit.
Once inside Jeon's car, Yuri debated whether or not she should attempt to engage him in conversation. Her decision was made for her when he drove onto the main road, and lowered the volume of the police scanner.
"What was Seulgi saying?" he asked, his eyes focused on the road.
"Just where we were in the investigation."
"I see."
Yuri fiddled with the button on her coat, itching to say more.
"What's the deal with her and Jimin?" she finally asked.
"I- what do you mean?" Jeon raised his eyebrow and gave her the most puzzled expression he could muster while trying to stay focused on the crazy traffic.
"Their relationship is... weird. He keeps flirting with her, and she is on the verge of ripping his guts out at every given moment. But just now, she seemed almost worried about him."
"I don't really know... they've never really seen eye-to-eye on much." Jeon checked the rear view mirror to make sure he was clear before deftly changing lanes. "Jimin has always been the person who tries his utmost to push everyone's buttons. And Seulgi... well, she has a lot of buttons."
Yuri snorted loudly. "That tells me nothing and everything at the same time. You really have a way with words, Jeon."
He smirked at this, his eyes never leaving the road. "So does that mean you trust me now?"
"No." She looked at him and caught the way his face fell slightly at her response. "But who knows what the future holds..."
The smirk was back.
Ahreum had a terrible headache. She usually didn't get many headaches. So on the rare occasion that she did, it put her in a really terrible mood. The only person who knew how to handle this situation properly was Namjoon. He knew that she needed silence, dim lighting, green tea, fresh bread, and absolutely no unexpected company.
So when Ahreum got home after her grueling 3 hour long meeting, hoping to relax and recuperate, she wasn't too pleased to find Taehyung sitting in her living room, playing a very loud game on his tablet.
"You're back!" he yelled, once she slammed the door to make her presence felt. "I've been waiting for hours. How was your meeting?"
"'S okay," she replied, shortly. Taking off her coat, she opened the middle cabinet in the kitchen and searched for the green tea.
"Great! So do you wanna go and visit Jimin now?"
"No."
"What? Why not? You don't have anything else to do right now. Just come with me. Please!" He had walked into the kitchen and was standing in front of her with a pout on his lips.
As endearing as she always found his antics, Ahreum was at breaking point. She placed the cup on the counter with a loud clink, and turned to face him.
"Because I don't have time to follow you on your every whim, Taehyung. Because I have a life of my own. Because I am studying medicine, which, if you aren't aware, is a very taxing occupation." She paused for a breath, as his mouth fell open in shock. "Because I am not your babysitter. Or your handler. Or your caretaker. And I'm tired of being responsible for you. You're a grown ass adult and it's about time you acted like one."
"Ahreum, I'm-" His eyes were wide and worried, and she felt a tiny sliver of remorse. "I don't think you're my babysitter or handler or whatever. You're my best friend."
"I thought so too. In fact," she said, looking away from him. "I thought we were, or we could be, more."
"W-what? Ahreum?" Taehyung sounded so lost and confused that she was tempted to console him.
She walked to the front door and held it open for him. "I think you should leave now. I'm tired, I have a headache, and I don't want to be around anyone right now."
"Wait! What did you mean by that?" he asked, hesitantly standing at the entrance.
"I'm tired, Taehyung. I don't have the energy to explain everything to you. Now, please," she began closing the door slowly. "I want to rest."
"It's clear!" The uniformed officer confirmed to them, before opening the door further.
"Okay, let's see whether little Gina is here," instructed Jeon, his face drawn into a frown.
Yuri nodded and walked into the room on the left of the large living area. It was a study of sorts, with a large wooden desk, a swiveling chair, and shelves upon shelves of books. She quickly checked to see if there was anyone in the room before shouting "clear!". There was another door connecting to a smaller room, it's walls bathed in bright sunlight and smelling of soft lavender. This was clearly some sort of guest room, judging by the inconsistent decor theme. The furniture looked sleek and modern, but the sheets on the bed were soft and pastel colored. A bunch of soft toys stood leaning against the flat screen tv, and Yuri realised that this was probably the room that had been hastily fixed up for a small child's unexpected stay. And sure enough, soft strands of brown hair peaked through the large covers on the bed.
She walked over to the bed slowly, not wanting to startle the child. Yuri barely managed to stifle a gasp as she looked into the child's clear grey eyes - the same color as both Park Minhyuk and Park Jimin.
"Hello," she said, softly. "Are you Gina?"
The little girl nodded, bringing the covers closer towards her.
"I'm a police officer. I help catch bad people." She didn't respond, staring at her with wide eyes.
"Do you want to go to your dad, Gina?" She nodded vigorously, sitting up at the mention of her father. "Okay, we will. But first, tell me, are you okay? Do you feel pain anywhere?"
The little girl shook her head.
"Are you sleepy?"
Again, she shook her head.
"Are you hungry?"
Slowly, she nodded her head.
"Okay, we'll go and see your dad, and also get you something to eat. Is that okay with you?"
"Yes."
"Wonderful."
It was just after 2 pm and Yuri felt completely drained. After they had found Gina, she had insisted on returning to the station to ask Jimin about his alibi for the night of Kang Eunwoo's murder. From what she had understood, he had refused to provide an alibi to protect his brother and keep him out of the police's radar until the situation with Gina worked out. Even though she still couldn't get herself to consider him a pleasant person, his desire to protect his brother had humanized him a great deal in her eyes.
Sure enough, once he was made aware that Minhyuk had come forward and spoken about his daughter and the events of the past month and a half, Jimin looked much less hostile than before.
"I was at Sunset from around 10.30 pm to closing time - which is 2 am," he said, sighing tiredly and rubbing his face with his hands. "You can confirm with them."
While Minhyuk and Jimin's alibis were verified, Yuri received a text from Namjoon, asking her and Jeon to meet him at Seokjin's bakery. It was barely a 2 minute drive there, so Jeon suggested they get lunch over there and make it before Goh finished compiling the list of paperwork for them to finish.
The smell of freshly baked milk bread wafted out of the kitchen, adding another layer of warmth to Seokjin's cozy shop. The man in question picked up the large tray filled with various different confections, and brought it over to the table by the window.
"Peach danish and americano for Namjoon, chocolate fudge brownie and vanilla bean ice cream for Jeongguk, and a snow croissant and hot chocolate for Yuri." He placed everything on the table, before grabbing his lukewarm cup of tea and sitting down with them.
"So you finally find the child, then?" asked Seokjin, sipping the tea. He made a face at the odd taste that tea acquires when it's between comfortingly steamy and soothingly chilled.
"Yeah we did," Yuri replied, when her partner remained silent. "Goh is dealing with Minhyuk and the custody charges. It's no longer in our jurisdiction."
"Namjoon, how's grad school treating you?" Seokjin diverted the conversation, realising that his friend wasn't ready to talk about the case at that moment. "How much longer do you have?"
"A few more months and I should be done." Namjoon wiped the pastry flakes from the corner of his mouth and nearly tipped over his americano in the process. Yuri chuckled at this, suddenly remembering those random moments in high school where Namjoon was a lot thinner and less confident, but still had a propensity for knocking things over.
"Remind me why you're putting yourself through this?" Seokjin broke off a piece of the peach danish and popped it into his mouth.
"The last time I tried to explain that, you spaced out and created a new pastry recipe for your menu. As much as I like helping your business flourish, I'm gonna preserve my energy and only talk about things when necessary."
Seokjin chuckled and picked up a spoon from the dispenser. "Jeongguk, can I get a bit of ice cream from you?" There was no response, and looking at him for confirmation Seokjin's eyebrows shot up in alarm.
"Okay okay, I won't eat any of your ice cream. You don't have to tear up about it!"
Yuri and Namjoon turned towards him as well, not sure what to do when they saw tears slowly sliding down Jeongguk's cheeks.
"Are you okay? What's wrong?" asked Namjoon, patting his shoulder softly.
They sat in silence, as Jeongguk sobbed softly and wiped his face with his coat sleeve. He turned towards Yuri, his eyes glazed with tears but holding a soft radiance unlike what she was used to.
"Thank you."
Yuri felt her face heat up suddenly. This wasn't what she had been expecting. The soft sincerity in his voice startled her. It was nothing like the person she had met only a week ago. She looked away abruptly and nodded her head.
"There's nothing to thank me for. This is our job."
Jeongguk smiled and resumed eating the disgustingly sweet dessert combination in front of him. He nudged Seokjin to take some ice cream like he had originally intended. There was silence once more, but this time, it was very different.
Back at the station, Yuri finished the paperwork for the day. There was a lot to complete, and since they had stopped at Seokjin's for a break, they had lost some time as well. Goh had been very clear about completing all the paperwork for social services to take over the case from them now that Gina had been found.
It was barely even 5 pm but Yuri felt a large yawn coming on for the third time in the past few minutes. She wasn't sure how long she would be able to carry on without getting proper sleep at night. At this rate, she would eventually burn out. There was only so much coffee could do for her.
A light tap brought her attention to another person standing in her cubicle. She looked up to see Jeon holding two steaming cups of ramen, tilting his head slightly to confirm whether it was okay for him to sit down.
"Did you need anything?" she asked, after moving her slightly. He placed the ramen on her desk and pulled up his own chair and sat down.
"I've got a peace offering," he gestured to the ramen. "I wanted to apologize properly for being an absolute dickhead to you. I-" He hesitated, looking down at his hands that lay clenched on his lap - "I don't really have an excuse for my behavior but I had a lot on my mind. Particularly about finding the little girl. And, well... you really don't know what solving this case means to me."
Once again, Yuri wasn't sure how to react. She felt embarrassed that he was thanking her for doing her job - something that he did as well. While she appreciated his apology, his entire being remained confusing to her.
"Don't worry about it," she said, waving her hand dismissively. "And thanks for the ramen; food is always appreciated."
Thankfully, her computer ping-ed with a new email before the atmosphere could get any more awkward.
"Okay, we've confirmed Minhyuk's alibi's for 2nd November and 15th December. He wasn't involved in either murder. Jimin was with Minhyuk till 10.15 pm on 15th December - his car's dash cam confirms that he dropped Jimin off at Sunset bar around that time."
"Fantastic! And what about the CCTV footage at Sunset? Does it confirm Jimin's story? He said he was there till 2 am."
"Hang on, I'm opening the report. Th-" she stopped abruptly, frowning at the screen.
"What?" asked Jeon, looking over her shoulder to read the email.
"CCTV footage does not place Jimin at Sunset from 10.15 pm till closing time at 2 in the morning. He doesn't have an alibi for Eunwoo's murder."
She turned to look at him, an odd sense of foreboding hitting her as she realized that they would have to charge Jimin for murder by the next evening. He held her gaze, his dark eyes reflecting a similar shadow of doubt.
