someone liked one of my ancient agent 32 pieces from like 3 years ago and I got so embarrassed looking at it that I decided to redraw it b4 bed

nosy anon again making a return because i think what my brain did was read that i helped find some kind of writing and then did not fully process what the writing was?? but upon rereading i am very intrigued if you ever get the urge to share i will be all eyes/ears/senses required to enjoy things!!

I GET TO DO WIP WEDNESDAYYYYYY!!! the writing exists mostly in the form of a tag (fantastic! 'verse) and also a thirty-two page doc of snippets and planning, so the sense you will be using most is imagination:

don't think i have ever actually formally written out anything about fantastic! 'verse but! the tl;dr of it is that it's a semi-college au: joel is still a hockey player for the lv phantoms, but morgan is a college student-athlete. it's incredibly relevant to the plot that joel falls in love with morgan in the check-out line of a wegman's, lies a little bit, and ends up going back to get his degree.

most of it is just good fun about college kids growing up, but i think there's a lot of parallels between making your way through a development system where traditional "success" isn't always guaranteed (ahl -> nhl, completion of higher education -> pursuit of a career) because that development system isn't always designed for you to "succeed" or have opportunities. heavy quotation marks around success because part of that struggle is learning what you want in life and how you define success. are your dreams achievable? are they still the same dreams you always used to have? it's infinite branching universes of would you still love me if i was a worm (ahl player forever) (a college dropout) (a college graduate) (older) (realizing the fallibility of your body) (uncertain of the future) (human).

When it comes to cold weather, the main rule (regardless of gender or presentation) is: when in doubt, choose warmth and safety over style. 

Some basics: 

Layering is your best friend: Start with moisture-wicking base layers to keep sweat off your skin. Follow with insulating layers (like fleece or wool), and finish with a weather-resistant outer layer (like a puffer jacket or waterproof coat) to protect against wind, snow or rain.

As a very basic rule, we can say: Gloves, beanies, and other cold-weather accessories typically become necessary when temperatures drop below 40°F (4°C). In more severe cold (below 32°F (0°C)), it’s even more important to wear them to protect yourself from frostbite and maintain body warmth. But it goes even in milder weather: if you feel uncomfortable or if it’s windy or damp, it’s a good idea to add these items for extra comfort.

With all that being said: Clothes are not just for safety and temperature control, they also help you express yourself - and that doesn’t suddenly change in winter. 

Dressing for cold weather doesn’t have to mean sacrificing your personal look. Whether you want to present more feminine, more masculine, or more androgynous, here are some tips to help you layer up and feel like yourself:

Footwear: Knee-high or thigh-high boots lined with faux fur or fleece can keep your legs warm and add a polished look to your outfit. Ankle boots with thicker socks are also a good alternative.

Accessories: Scarves, gloves, and beanies can be both practical and stylish. Knit hats or earmuffs can add a soft, cozy vibe to your look.

Style Tip: Go for a mix of fabrics like wool, faux fur, and knitwear to create texture and warmth.

If You Want to Present More Masculine: 

- Base Layers: Start with thermal undershirts or moisture-wicking base layers. Consider long underwear for added insulation beneath your pants.

oh, nothing is ever a strech for shiny duo. i remember being in the trenches for them when they had matching horses and kept going in resource gathering with them in season 8. they only ever did this with eachother and i swear no one really saw that vision bc it took a while for more content to drop

I'm having a lot of fun putting the Vatores in period clothes, so I made some renders of them dressed up in 1890s-1940s clothing and threw them into that big frame from Vampires.

This was a pretty big project: 3 cc wall art pieces covering 6 decades of fashion with 12 separate outfits, which resulted in 18 individual renders and 144 total swatches. Also, the frame itself is huge. I prefer them sized down (shift + [ in buy mode) but they are 100% the type to own larger-than-life portraits of themselves.

My hc is that the Vatores were born in the late 1930s/early 1940s, so imo they aren't actually old enough to have worn any of these clothes when they were first in style. I think they dressed up like it’s old times and took a buncha pictures just to confuse people trying to figure out how old they really are. Sibling bonding!

(the basis of this au is that gods and magic rule NHL teams. magic surround teams and their players. gods take sacrifices in the forms of wins , fights , blood spilled on the ice , etc.)

- the kraken's gods are freshly reawakened, having stayed dormant for decades. they rule the deep sea and dark corners of trenches. wriggling masses of tentacles and deep sea creatures

- their magic thrums steadily, sometimes crackling with the renewed energy and vigor in it

- kraken players have an odd glow about them, a sort of bioluminescence that they carry around. they have cloudy pupils that often look unseeing and empty, although don't be fooled by it. they still see everything

- some are likened to sirens with their strangely alluring qualities, like something human but too pale and unnerving. their bioluminescence is often intriguing, drawing other players in before attacking, like an anglerfish.

(they don't ACTUALLY attack people , it's usually just slashing or fighting or any sort of increased physicality in their play)

It's always interesting seeing what Obama will eventually say on matters of the democratic party.

He's very cautious to speak on events, allowing the party to find its own way.

In part, I think it's because of just how horrible Obama's two terms were for Democrats.

Obama saw Democrats suffer the largest loss of power down ballot since Eisenhower.

2008 Democrats controlled both chambers of 27 states.

2016 only 13.

Democrats lost control in Wisconsin, North Carolina, Iowa, and West Virginia. Kentucky's House flipped for the first time in almost 100 years.

They lost a net 13 Governorships, 816 state legeslative seats, 12 US Senate seats, and 64 US House seats.

In 2010, they lost 6 US Senate seats.

63 US House seats.

In 2014, they lost a staggering 9 Senate seats and another 13 House seats.

And when they did have wins, it wasn't nearly comparable to the severe bleeding out of down-ballot power.

When Trump was sworn in, the GOP controlled 32 state legislatures (both chambers) and 33 Governorships.

It's a rather black mark on his legacy.

Make no mistake, Obama's two terms saw huge wins as well, and the most long-last and consequential changes in America in decades.

Obamacare, Dodd-Frank, historic judges placed on federal benches. The Constitutional right to marry for gays. Hell, a complete and total 180 on LGBT+ rights for the democratic party that had previously been extremely cautious about embracing even JUST equal marriage rights.

(Biden helped significantly, too, as he kinda accidentally came out in support of it before his boss had announced his own --and by extension the Executive Branch's support, like refusing to defend the Defense of Marriage Act in court, repealing Dont Ask Dont Tell, etc).

The Obama-Biden era doesn't get nearly enough credit in hindsight for how significantly they pushed the Democratic Party into it's modern form or just how quickly that change happened.

We would never be even talking about the rights of trans Americans without winning the first victories for marriage, Healthcare, etc.

There's still much to do sure, but fighting for rights is a marathon, not a sprint. We expand, we defend our arguments in Congress, in Court, and in the public, we win, we dig in, and we advance again. We build coalitions.

Expanding rights in America isn't a blitzkrieg, it's trench-warfare.
