I certainly have my own concerns about the treatment of moo deng but um. well i think some of you may just be racist
#this ^ isn't directed at any post in particular but instead a lot of comments ive seen. but now im gonna talk about other posts down here#and prefacing anything i put in the tags here with DONT TAKE MY WORD FOR IT DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH#but the biggest post ive seen going around rn about moo deng being mistreated and the general quality of khao kheow zoo is questionable#claims that the enclosure is mostly concrete seem to be false from all the sources i can find#the concrete section looks like its specifically around the feeding area which fits zoo care guidelines which specify that the feeding area#be a surface that can be easily cleaned separate from the substrate and is a surface present in other zoos#the lack of deep water also seems to be purposeful? older videos of the same enclosure show deeper water areas#and looking back through the news every baby pygmy hippo announcement from every zoo i could find mentioned periods where the baby had to#learn to swim and was slowly introduced from shallow water to deeper water as time passed#this was also corroborated by fowlers zoo and wild animal medicine volume 8 which suggests keeping the mother dry and then slowly#introducing water as the baby grows as a potential best practice#damn im treating this like a paper now. anyway the negatives#there are absolutely things that strike me as bad eg. public access to the hippos and the way the keeper interacts with them#for the keeper stuff in particular i'd really like to see input from someone who has experience as a zookeeper with pygmy hippos#the public access is something that i def think the zoo could improve on and even older footage from years ago shows people sticking like#selfie sticks and shit off the side of the railings and right into the hippos faces#however again the zoo seems to be making efforts to curb visitor behavior which is tough when you go from having 800 visitors a day to#4000+ and you can't remodel the whole exhibit right then and there#all this to say! just do your own research and take somewhat inflammatory comments on the internet with a grain of salt#also just to make it clear im not making any sweeping statements on khao kheow or the treatment of moo deng im just summarizing what i foun#based on what's being said in the most popular post on the subject ive seen.#for the potential like three people who will read all this hi :) hope ur having a nice day

Desperately trying to be hysterical all night again in advance of my doctor's appt in the morning because honestly I'm barely holding onto sanity as it is lmao
The amount of pre-appt research I do never stops turning up horrifying new pieces of information like this one:
Like my guy I can barely manage to stomach the ½ teaspoon of electrolytes I put in my water every day and you want me to eat SIX GODDAMN TIMES THAT MUCH??????
I would rather fling myself into a dying star I'm so fucking serious
#i have been frantically tracking my BP over the past few days and it goes tachcardic around 5min into standing up every time#that's not even include the at-risk measurements taken before that threshhold that aren't good they just aren't TACHYCARDIC#and then on top of it I'm basically just yo-yoing back and forth between full blown hypotension and tachycardia with rare moments of#quote unquote normal BP here and there#homestly it explains why i always shitty like who wouldn't#anyway I've got a 12 item list for my new pcp in the morning and I'm honestly fucking terrified because I don't know how I'll cope if they#blow me off yet again after everything I've done to protect myself#i literally can't keep living like this there's a really good chance i just throw myself off a bridge to be done with it and I'd rather not#anyway i think i've made a really good case with clinical treatment guidelines for 3-5 major medical interventions#and I'm so fucking desperate to get at least those covered#i need a new tilt table test i need rx fludrocortisone and IV saline/nutrition or prescription electrolytes and multi-vitamin#i need compression garment scripts and i need long-term PT and if I'm very lucky I will also get to need assessment of my stenosis/csf#i don't dare hope for a disability referral

thoughts on fandoms treating characters with a heavily fictionalized form of split personality as if they canonically have DID?
like DID doesnt fucking do this
You mean you don't do a magical girl sailor moon transformation when you switch?
I don't know, sounds sus, friendo
Your eyes should at least change colour, how else do you know who's fronting?
#but in all seriousness#this is a major problem#these highly fictionalized characters from both cartoon/anime and live action affect public perception more than people know#like you might think “psh it's just a show”#but that stuff is damaging when it's the only exposure to the CONCEPT of fragmented identities that a layperson has#saying “yeah that's DID in a nutshell” about certain portrayals isn't enough info for singlets and those outside our communities#and we often end up looking “crazier” and less believable#I've been quoting the isstd treatment guidelines lately#with the quote that clinicians “incorrectly assume that DID has a highly florid presentation” and media plays a huge part in that#imo any good representation about DID would be boring as shit#i don't get super powers#my alters are just as bad at everything as i am even if they're supposed to be specialized

Random thought: I find it odd that people make fun of people who fall in love through texting someone they never met in person
“I don’t understand how someone can fall in love with text” I heard one lady say.
As if “pen pals” weren’t doing it before cellphone texting existed 🙃 Like, you had people across the world from each other falling in love, jerking off to each other’s pictures & letters, and proposing marriage all before they met in person. Yes, letters are more romantic than texts, but I still stand by my point
What I’m curious about though, is if catfishing occurred back then too…

Had a horrible nightmare and I am now sitting here absolutely seething with rage surrounding the NHS and especially the Mental Health Act and I don’t know what to do with this rage. I just want to combust/evaporate and not be on this horrible planet anymore.
#personal#thoughts#anger#trauma?#does it count as trauma#nhs#nhs nightmare#mental health#chronic pain#section#section 3#mental health act#all the pain killers I was made to take and tried to protest against were against nice guidelines for chronic pain#and I was told to just not think about being in pain and I should focus on being productive instead#like I didn’t wish I could do that#like I haven’t been trying to#I won’t go into the psychiatric treatment

How Depression and Anxiety Influence Psoriatic Arthritis Remission
Mental health matters in managing psoriatic arthritis (PsA). A recent study reveals that depressive symptoms significantly lower remission rates and worsen disease activity, including pain, joint tenderness, and inflammation markers.
Key Insights:
Patients with depression are 76% less likely to achieve remission.
Anxiety impacts pain but has a less pronounced effect on remission rates.
Managing depression improves PsA outcomes and reduces unnecessary treatment escalations.
This research underscores the need for holistic care that addresses both physical and mental health.

Our company "completely reworked" the guidelines for trans health insurance claims. It's now "fully up to date with modern standards" and designed to "minimize litigation" and "complaints of inhumane and confusing assessment criteria".
Only the first paragraph of the page has been rewritten, the rest has been shoddily and half heartedly reworked into complete gibberish along the lines of:
Assessments are now mandatory for every new procedure, except every assessment should cover all possible future therapies and only one assessment should ever be performed.
Nonbinary people can't be treated for dysphoria because there's no gender roles for them to fulfill until a statistically significant number of babies are assigned nonbinary at birth and those babies grow up.
HRT can only be started after 12 months' positive response to HRT.
All feminizing HRT effects are final and complete within 3-6 months. Masculinizing HRT has no effects worth mentioning.
Speech therapy is a highly specialized procedure and the treating surgeon must be carefully vetted before approval.
Top surgery for trans men is not mentioned. Top surgery for trans women is medically urgently necessary--but only to cup size A.
Before bottom surgery is approved, we need a medical confirmation it will benefit professionally benefit the current career of the patient who is, statistically, a teacher, priest or underage child.
If it's a surgery from an urban myth and/or bigoted fever dream and even Wikipedia can't find a reliable instance of it being successfully performed in a reputable medical institution, we will consider covering it. Everything else is frivolous and cosmetic.
The word "transgender" is never used and still redirects to a page for HIV prophylaxis if searched in the database.
Over two dozen assessment doctors have expressly refused to do any further confirmations of gender dysphoria (or, possibly, put up with this BS) for insurance reasons. Of the five we have left nationwide, only one sees kids as well as adults. Incidentally, it's the only one trans people will willingly visit. Three others don't answer their phone. Two of those have complaints of not updating their professional knowledge on treating trans people to modern standards... going back at least 15 years.
All cases, for statistical purposes, must be sent in copy to the person who was screaming there was no new law coming as late as the last week of October. They're on the cutting edge when it comes to these matters.
No one is responsible for maintaining this information page but feedback is welcomed and will be sent to the people who maintain the page.
So yeah, no way this will get us any complaints or legal action from... At least two different angles I can think of without "getting political". In other news, for some mysterious reason, several managers have taken to telling the people they're in charge of to ignore any guideline pages that don't make sense. Something about "for God's sake, just make a reasonably intelligent assessment and let me sign off on it before I have to pretend it makes any sense to a client on the phone" and cost factors.
All above my pay grade, I'm afraid. My manager wants me to go the reasonably intelligent route, he decides if I get a raise, so I'm gonna listen to him.
#cw transphobia#stories from work#this is only mitigating litigation is in the fact that we don't actively send out multichrome greeting cards singing “sue us sue us sue us”#we are supposed to cover medically necessary treatment#we are supposed to work with the minimal data necessary to do our job#these guidelines question a treatment standard over a decade old#these guidelines needlessly demand further and useless details about information that in 99% of cases is already available#habt ihr alle lack gesoffen?#I'm torn#on the one hand#this deserves some hugely embarrassing litigation#on the other#it'd be so much funnier if accountants file these medically necessary procedures rejected by insurance on tax returns#and it gets bad enough that the bundesfinanzamt reports it to bafin#trans lives are human lives#I'll start believing it's a cost factor when we stop paying out globuli#vent#might delete later

Maintaining your keratin treatment’s sleek results requires diligent aftercare. Clients who have undergone this transformative process at our salon services in Lanham, Maryland should follow essential guidelines to prolong the benefits. This starts with avoiding moisture for the first 72 hours to prevent frizz and setting the treatment. It’s also recommended to sleep on a silk pillowcase to reduce friction and hair breakage.
