He doesn’t bother dragging over the stool in the corner of the stuffy room, preferring to watch you squirm at his predatory stooped form.

He takes a minute to just admire you before he says anything, letting the anticipation eat you alive.

“Never been put under before?” he asks, grinning eerily when you hurriedly nod your head, words lost on you.. Tragic little thing. He can’t resist touching you anymore, long fingers gliding down your arm, stretching it out for you, hand palm up. He drags one thick finger up your forearm before resting on the inside of your elbow, flicking it - a touch too hard for your taste - to resurface a vein suitable for injection. Nothing.

To ensure that he has in fact secured his treasure, he bullshits to the dental/surgeon’s assistants that you’re not responding well to the anesthesia, that your heart rate is too high, or whatever else he can pull out of his ass that will buy him enough time to have his fill.

He re-enters the operating room, finding you still dead to the world, and looms over you, practically panting and salivating. He takes his latex gloves off, and drags his hand down your supple body.Your eyes suddenly flutter open. Ah. ‘anesthesia awareness’

He refrains from letting out a maniacal laugh, licking his lips. He drags his digits up your throat and props your bottom lip open, pressing two fingers into your mouth. I am raising funds to help my family and my sisters and brother leave Gaza for Egypt or any other country to secure their safety, as there is no longer a safe place in Gaza. Here is their story: My family consists of eight people: my father, my mother, four daughters, and two sons. My father, Jamal Shamia, is currently in Gaza, and his home was destroyed at the beginning of the war. We have lost security and peace. We have witnessed how a single rocket can destroy your entire life, both your past and your future. Our dreams have been shattered. Now the future is unknown and dark. There is no home, no basic life essentials, no job. We are now seeking to leave this country for a life abroad and to obtain security. We estimate our loss to be at least $50,000 to rebuild a home and start our lives anew.

My mother left Gaza before the war for surgery in Egypt and is now stranded on the Egyptian side without any means of support. The daughters (Rasha, Maram, Rana, Reem): - Rasha Jamal Shamia and her husband Khalil Abu Samaan have two children, Mira Abu Samaan and Omar Abu Samaan. They are now in Gaza and have left their home and all their belongings in Gaza City to move to Rafah, but they cannot return to their home due to the occupation forces' siege of the northern areas. They are now in tents and have lost their children's future in terms of education and the opportunity for a decent life. - Rana Jamal Shamia and her husband Mohammed Salama have two children, Amir Salama and Taim Salama. They are also in Gaza and lost their home after the occupation forces bombed their house, and they suffered direct injuries. They also lost their children's future and are now internally displaced persons in Rafah City after their house was demolished. They still suffer from the damage they and their children witnessed. - Reem Jamal Shamia is residing outside Gaza and has not seen her family for some time.

- Maram Jamal Shamia and her husband Mareed Al-Suwirki are now outside Gaza. They were evacuated along with their children and husband from Gaza. Maram's family has suffered greatly during their time in Gaza, and their home was destroyed. They lost many of their belongings. Her husband is a dentist and also lost his job. Two of the sons (Mohammad, Ahmad): -Ahmad Jamal Shamia resides in Gaza and is a third-year student in dental school. He lost his education due to the devastating war in Gaza. He was studying at Al-Azhar University in Gaza, and his home was destroyed in the war. He is currently suffering from moving from one temporary shelter to another. Ahmad was a diligent, ambitious, and creative student who ranked first in his class. He didn't limit himself to what he learned in university. He attended courses and workshops online with Egyptian doctors to learn more and excel in his field. He always sought excellence and worked hard for it, and he loved helping all students. He now needs money to continue his education, which will cost him a lot of money since he will complete his studies in Egypt.

-I, Mohammad Jamal Shamia, currently residing in Sweden, am orchestrating a fundraising effort aimed at providing assistance to my immediate family and siblings. The funds collected will be allocated towards facilitating their departure from Gaza, with coordination managed through Hala Travel Agency, and remittance to Egypt via established channels. The required contribution stands at $5000 per adult, with a reduced amount of $2500 designated for children. My family is living in extreme danger due to the brutal bombing of their city. There are daily explosions and attacks. The city is no longer safe for them. Sebek Info Compilation Part 2: Family

GALTx eNews: Welcome, West Coast Greyhounds!

When “greyt” minds think alike, wonderful things can happen. Six greyhound adoption groups collaborated to arrange two transports for eight greyhounds from the West Coast to Texas. GreySave, Fast Friends Greyhound Adoption, GALT Arizona, GALT, and GALT Central Texas collaborated on the logistics and Southeastern Greyhound Adoption (SEGA) provided a grant to assist with the transport expenses. We thank everyone involved for their hard work and team spirit! 

Six of the eight hounds came from the closure of the Canódromo Caliente in Tijuana, Mexico. Two of the hounds came from the closure of Hemopet near Los Angeles, California (Juniper and Azalea). On August 1, they all boarded their transport vehicle together just north of Los Angeles and traveled their first leg to Tucson where they rested a night with GALT Arizona. The next day, they drove the rest of the way to Dallas, Texas. 

Azalea, Dream, Gretel, and Raider left for Austin on Saturday, the next morning. They will stay with GALT Central Texas to find their forever homes. Juniper, Tracy, Reba, and Randy will remain in Dallas. Juniper is a black gal that is only two years old. She is not tattooed. Tracy is a black girl with 59 races to her credit. She turned three years old in June. Reba is a white and brindle girl who will celebrate her fifth birthday later this month. Randy is a fawn five year old boy who raced 271 races in Florida and Mexico. 

Watch for them to be adoptable after we get to know them better in foster homes and address any medical needs they have. At a minimum, they will each require spay/neuter, vaccinations, and a dental. One last report on the dental saga and I’ll let it go.

The onlay was only a couple years old, and was done at that practice to replace an old filling which had a little decay under it.

Well, because it failed in under 5 years, insurance covers nothing. Because it was more than 2, the dentist discounts 50%. They act like that’s so generous but ok.

So after I hear they’ll do a crown that’ll cost me $1500 and will probably fail eventually (less than 10 years is pretty standard), I’ve also been poked and picked and xrayed in all the ways… there’s been another round of blowing air into it… I’m literally clung to the edge of the chair and the money girls says “is that ok? You look upset?” And I’m like “GIRL WHAT CHOICE DO I HAVE!?”

So everyone leaves and I have a minute with a couple tears. I’m tired and stressed and still not sure I’ll be able to travel on my booked flights for my important meeting, my work is piling up at home, and it’s only Monday.

So there are tears and the cart repair boy/assistant comes in to ask if I’m ok and I’m like “YUP” and try to assemble myself. Only dudes are too dumb to offer someone a tissue.

So now the dentist has me pinned as an anxious patient who has lots of pain and does me up real good. He definitely got his morning fucked up by me, but the ample oral anesthesia was lovely. I was there long enough that it was worn almost totally off by the time I left.

So friends. If dental work is painful, you just tell those guys that it’s too much and maybe have an emotional breakdown in the chair.

Ryan Zinke on Thursday issued a press release describing the arrival of a Venezuelan migrant family and alleging that Kalispell nonprofit Valley Neighbors of the Flathead aided the family in traveling to Kalispell — an allegation the nonprofit denies. Zinke’s office described the nonprofit as a “dark money” group with ties to the Biden administration.

Valley Neighbors is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that offers support to refugee and immigrant families in the Flathead Valley. According to tax filings submitted by the organization, it provides families with housing support, legal referrals and funding, medical and dental referrals, language services, educational support and transportation to meetings with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Helena.

According to Valley Neighbors Vice Chair Rebecca Miller, the organization has assisted “on an occasional and limited basis” in helping immigrants who have been released from immigration detention centers relocate to be with family members who already live in the Flathead Valley. The nonprofit has also worked to connect immigrants with sponsors in the Flathead Valley, occasionally providing travel expenses. However, Miller said, Valley Neighbors is not part of any government effort to “bus people in” to the Flathead and “had nothing to do with the family’s arrival” on Wednesday night.

In response to the allegations by Zinke and others, Miller provided the following statement: “Valley Neighbors of the Flathead is a small community-supported nonprofit organization that provides humanitarian aid for immigrants in the Flathead Valley. As sometimes occurs, this week, we were made aware of an immigrant family in need after their arrival and responded by providing them assistance in accordance with our mission and the support of our community. We are saddened that our organization and the vulnerable families that we work with are being targeted and used for political gain through ill-informed and false statements made by some of our state’s elected officials.”

Heino on Thursday issued a two-page letter describing a recent increase in “contacts with individuals who have no residency status in the U.S.” The sheriff said his department has struggled to communicate with non-English speakers and to determine individuals’ identities and legal statuses during traffic stops and arrests.

“These, among many other challenges, cause deputies to spend significantly more time handling calls for service and are often unable to obtain a disposition acceptable to our community,” he wrote.

Heino also wrote that the increase in undocumented immigrants is “especially difficult” given the valley’s existing housing shortage and limited emergency resources.

“Our community has grown so fast and our resources have not,” he told the Beacon on Friday.

“I don’t blame anybody for wanting to come to the valley. It’s just, we’re maxed,” he said.

In the press release from Zinke’s office, Flathead County Commissioner Randy Brodehl described the arrival of the migrant family as “a continuation of a trend that has increased in both frequency and intensity over the last two years.”

The sheriff on Friday said the department could not provide exact numbers regarding interactions with undocumented immigrants. Brodehl said the county does not have any records or numbers of how many undocumented immigrants are in the area.

U.S. Customs and Border Patrol has reported 1.3 million encounters at the southern border since October 2023. Of the 1.3 million, 56% have been single adults, 39% have been members of a family unit and 5% have been unaccompanied minors. Republicans have accused the Biden administration of failing to address the influx of entrants at the border as major cities struggle to accommodate growing migrant populations.

Heino in his letter wrote, “Undocumented and illegal individuals are currently living in the Flathead, and many are working, often under the table, without contributing to the resources designed for those who work and live here legally. By working under the table, they are not paying into Social Security, workers’ compensation, state, or federal income taxes. They are allowed to utilize resources like Medicare, food stamps, housing assistance, and other resources designed to assist our legal citizens in our times of need.”

Under the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act (PRWORA), a 1996 federal act that established restrictions on welfare access, undocumented immigrants are not eligible for federal public benefits including unemployment, retirement, welfare, disability, food assistance and public housing. PRWORA also bars undocumented immigrants from accessing most local and state public benefits. Exceptions include treatment under Medicaid for emergency medical conditions, immunizations and in-kind services delivered on the community level, such as food from soup kitchens or short-term shelters.
