A bipartisan bill would give the secretary of the treasury unilateral power to classify any charity as a terrorist-supporting organization, automatically stripping away its nonprofit status. The bill, H.R. 6408, already passed the House of Representatives in November, and a companion bill, S. 4136, was introduced to the Senate by Sens. John Cornyn (R–Texas) and Angus King (I–Maine) last week. In theory, the bill is a measure to fight terrorism financing. At least, that's what sponsor Rep. David Kustoff (R–Tenn.) claimed. "I urge the swift passage of this legislation that will significantly diminish the ability of Hamas and other terrorist groups to finance their operations and carry out future attacks," he said in a November statement. Financing terrorism is already very illegal. Anyone who gives money, goods, or services to a U.S.-designated terrorist organization can be charged with a felony under the Antiterrorism Act and the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. And those terrorist organizations are already banned from claiming tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the tax code. Nine charities have been shut down since 2001 under the law. The new bill would allow the feds to shut down a charity without an official terrorism designation. It creates a new label called "terrorist-supporting organization" that the secretary of the treasury could slap onto nonprofits, removing their tax exempt status within 90 days. Only the secretary of the treasury could cancel that designation.

In order to be recognized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the organization must apply for and be granted tax-exempt status by the IRS. This typically involves submitting an application, providing detailed information about the organization's mission and activities, and meeting certain financial and governance requirements. As a nonprofit supporter, do you want to start a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization? Then follow this guide.

More JVP Shenanigans
TLDR; JVP's Haggadah was put together by goys and their tax filings show they have no intent to help and/or represent Jews. We all know JVP is the Autism Speaks of the Jewish community. They exploit Jews and try to present themselves as a Jewish organization concerned with systemic discrimination, Palestinian rights, antisemitism, and much more. Hell, you can go look at their core values on their website and a lot of us would agree that these are good things.
JVP uses all that as misdirection. It uses Judaism as set dressing for its own agenda and exploits people’s ignorance. However, if you have just a little bit of knowledge you can tell that JVP is not only exploiting Judaism, but it is an organization that has wholly embraced Jew face and does not know what it’s doing.
Take a look at their Haggadah.
Their Haggadah was clearly put together by goys who didn’t know what they were doing. Many of the translations for their blessings are wrong or were clearly put through google translate. Other blessings are slapdash put together or grabbed from other Seders. Take a look at this blessing:
Baruch atah adonai eloheynu melech ha’olam asher kidshanu b’mitzvotav v’tzivanu l’hadlik ner shel (Shabbat v’shel) yom tov. Blessed is the spirit of freedom in whose honor we kindle the lights of this holiday, Passover, the season of Freedom.
Do you see the issue? For those who don't know, there is no mention of Passover in the blessing at all. So why is it in the translation? They also didn't include any of the extra words for Shabbat in the translation as well. If you have the patience, go through and read it. It omits the story of Passover, dismisses the importance of the holiday, and just changes the entire thing for their agenda. Edit: Above is about last year's haggadah as someone pointing out in the replies. Below is the link to this year's and it's just as bad, but this time they have a lot of tokenization to justify why they change the entire holiday to support their agenda. It literally asks you to write to the NY Times at one point...
“But it’s a Jewish organization, I swear!”
Well let’s look at their tax filing where they as a 501(c)3 have to describe what their organization is and their intent.
Tumblr media
That's weird. A Jewish organization that states it fights against antisemitism and is committed to Jewish communities has nothing on their filing about Judaism or Jews in any capacity. It's mission is regarding education about Palestinians. Some of you might say "what's wrong with that?" There's nothing inherently wrong with that mission statement. What is wrong is that JVP hides its intent, bigotry, and antisemitism behind a veil of Jew face. It claims to be a Jewish organization, but it can't even get basic translations of prayers right. It omits, misleads, and misinforms about our culture, history, and traditions in such a heinous way that it's downright disgraceful. JVP does not represent the Jewish community and at this point it's clear that they're Jewish in name only.

Today’s story of upcoming terror in the return of the MAGAt administration…I've just learned about this legislative action being fast tracked in the House for tomorrow, 11/12/24. It horrifyingly would allow the president elect so much power he could revoke any nonprofit's 501(c)(3) status just because he doesn't like it or considers them "the enemy from within." It doesn't matter what person or party fills that office, it is antithetical to our nation and sector to empower dictatorial actions like this.

Hey everyone. I normally do not post fundraisers but this is dear to my heart. I was able to visit the Lanai Cat Sanctuary a few years ago. It is home to over 600 cats and they are always in need of donations. The Maui wildfires have impacted the number of daily visitors and supplies from the Lahaina ferry. The kitties are safe but the fundraising efforts are really down. Please consider helping out Lanai's Lions. They also sell cute paw print yoga pants and other items in their online shop that supports the sanctuary as well.
Lanai Cat Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Hafiz Rashid at TNR:
A major polling organization is reportedly giving Donald Trump’s campaign previews of its results before the public sees them. On Thursday, American Muckrakers posted about emails it received detailing how the conservative-leaning Rasmussen Reports, which claims to be nonpartisan, shared polling results with Trump advisers and campaign officials like Dan Scavino, Susie Wiles, and John McLaughlin. The advisers, Rasmussen, and the nonprofit organizations that pay it for polling are violating tax and election laws, according to American Muckrakers. One of the emails details close collaboration between the Trump campaign, Rasmussen, and the Heartland Institute, which calls itself a national free-market public policy think tank. However, it’s also a 501(c)3 nonprofit and is not allowed to engage in political activity benefiting a political candidate.
Rasmussen has long been criticized for its polling, which focuses on “likely voters,” and for skewing toward older Americans and providing favorable results to conservatives. During the Trump administration, its website became overtly supportive of the right wing, with many of its polls sponsored by conservative personalities and causes. On social media, Rasmussen appeared to legitimize many conspiracy theories on the right, such as election fraud and vaccine denialism.
Right-wing pollster Rasmussen Reports (aka Repubmussen) got busted by American Muckrakers for helping to work with the Donald Trump campaign.

Little libraries -
Free little Libraries are a great passive mutual aid project. Originally inspired by DIY projects they are easy to build, are generally low maintenance once established, creative and fun artworks within themselves, and its a great way to introduce a gift economy into your neighborhood!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
History-
2009- Todd Bol of Hudson, Wisconsin, built a model of a one room schoolhouse. It was a tribute to his mother; she was a teacher who loved to read. He filled it with books and put it on a post in his front yard. His neighbors and friends loved it, so he built several more and gave them away.
UW-Madison’s Rick Brooks saw Bol’s do-it-yourself project while they were discussing potential mutual aid projects. They were inspired by community gift-sharing networks, “take a book, leave a book” collections in coffee shops and public spaces, and most especially by the philanthropist Andrew Carnegie.
2010 the name Little Free Library was established and the purpose of these Little Free Library book exchanges became clear: to share good books and bring communities together. As Bol and Brooks continued to give away Little Free Libraries with wooden charter signs, engraved with official charter numbers, curiosity and demand for more Libraries grew. The acceleration centered on the enthusiasm of early adopters and stewards, who were crucial advocates. Some small grants and informal partnerships began to have an impact on Little Free Library’s ability to keep up with demand.
2011 brought national media attention, and by the end of the year there were nearly 400 Little Free Libraries in existence. That number would skyrocket to over 4,000 Libraries within a year.
2012  Little Free Library became a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in the states!
Little Free Libraries have continued to grow by leaps and bounds every year. In 2022 we surpassed 150,000 registered Libraries in more than 120 countries worldwide. Even establishing an online map and app to help people locate the libraries!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
How do I do this?
The little library website hosts a bunch of plans and blueprints to make a library or get ideas for locations. Even having ready to order kits if you want!
You will need either land or public approval to establish one however, this can be by the city, neighbours, or other public spaces but they are technically put on private land. You wont find anyone ho would object to their installation but I would not recommend just installing one unless your okay with it being taken down.
Pick a location that has a lot of foot traffic and be highly visible to anyone nearby and is accessible as possible.
Register your library! You can get an official charter sign by doing this step!!
Fill it up with books!!

BREAKING: OMG Team infiltrates secret NO MAS MUERTES encampment in the middle of the desert in Aravaca, Arizona near the border.
When the illegal immigrant asked where the Mexican men dressed in military attire associated with the No Mas Muertes nonprofit were from, one responded, “From Sonora,” while another was from Tijuana – notorious Mexican cartel hotbeds.  “I have a friend coming soon.  He will take you to the city,” said one of the cartel-appearing men.  “How much does he charge?” asked the illegal immigrant.  “$300,” responded one of the cartel-appearing men.  Hours later, these cartel-appearing men pointed guns at the illegal immigrant.
In the middle of the Arizona desert over 60 miles southwest of Tucson, O’Keefe Media Group (“OMG”) risked their lives to investigate the shady activity of No Mas Muertes, or No More Deaths, a nonprofit organization claiming to provide humanitarian aid to illegal immigrants but has been raided by US law enforcement and whose members have been arrested by border patrol numerous times.  Posing as donors and land surveyors, and with the help of an illegal immigrant working undercover, OMG recordings show this nonprofit repeating “we are a little paranoid,” refusing to state their names, voicing hostility towards law enforcement, interrogating the undercover illegal immigrant “Why don’t you ask for asylum? Why don’t you ask border patrol for asylum?” and offering to transport the undercover illegal immigrant for $300 cash before pointing guns at him – actions related more to a human trafficking operation than a humanitarian nonprofit.
No Mas Muertes workers refusing to provide their names or identifications stating: “You also don’t need the mask. I only put it on when the military shows up or when those white people show up, so they won’t take my picture” flies in the face of No More Deaths’ obligations as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization to follow the law.  Instead, it seems to skirt immigration laws and traffic humans.  OMG’s exposé of secret illegal immigrant compounds funded by Catholic Community Services of Tucson coupled with this undercover footage of No More Deaths reveals the shocking proliferation of private tax-exempt nonprofit organizations working with the government or potentially dangerous cartels to engage in what amounts to human trafficking into the United States under the guise of humanitarian aid, without any scrutiny or accountability.
Off the outskirts of the tiny town of Arivaca 40 minutes on a dirt road from Interstate 15 at 36455 S Papalote Wash Road, several people wearing construction vests planted flags into the ground as land surveyors would before being approached by someone who told them to leave: “Hey guys, this is private property.”  These people were not, in fact, surveyors.  They were James O'Keefe and members of his OMG team, equipped with hidden cameras to investigate the rise in suspicious nonprofit organizations operating at the U.S.–Mexico border.  The team was outside the secretive location of No Mas Muertes, or No More Deaths.
Couched as a ministry of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Tucson, whose tag line is “a liberal light in the desert,” No More Deaths appears to use its relationship to Unitarian Universalist Church of Tucson to evade filing IRS documents of financial transparency (IRS Form 990) under an IRS exemption for religious organizations.  After confirming the location was No More Deaths property, an OMG team member posing as a donor called Mary Weiss, an administrator for the Unitarian Universalist Church of Tucson.  On the call, Weiss represented No More Deaths was an “organization we actually partner with,” as “a ministry of the church,” located in Arivaca with a staff of 4-5 employees and budget of $400 Thousand.
As the OMG team continued planting flags around the perimeter of the property, they sent a volunteer illegal immigrant with a hidden camera to observe No More Deaths from the inside.  No More Deaths workers welcomed OMG undercover illegal immigrant and explained how they “always have threats” at the camp on account of “bad people” and “the [border] patrols.”  They described wearing masks so they could not be identified or photographed “when the military shows up or when those white people show up” and declared the men at the perimeter to be white supremacists “looking to cause trouble.”  Apparently, government workers, law enforcement, and white people, made them “paranoid” – a very strange mental state for people working at a “humanitarian” nonprofit organization.
Upon the OMG team leaving the area, No More Deaths workers intercepted their car and questioned them.  After O’Keefe mentioned the Unitarian Universalist Church and No More Deaths, the No More Deaths workers denied knowing either organization and never provided their names.
Back at the “humanitarian” camp, the two military-dressed men from Sonora and Tiuana – cities famous for Mexican cartels, interrogated OMG undercover illegal immigrant.  “Where are you from?”  “Why don’t you ask for asylum?”  “Where did you cross through?”  “Who are they?  Who brought you here?”  “How much did they charge you?”  “Your watch is expensive right, you got a camera in there?”  Ultimately, they offered to find someone to take him to Phoenix…for $300 despite the nonprofit’s budget of $400 Thousand.  OMG undercover illegal immigrant eventually reunited with the OMG team, but not before having guns pointed at him at “humanitarian” No More Deaths camp.
That night in the desert raised more questions than it provided answers.  Why are people at a nonprofit pointing guns at people?  Why is a humanitarian nonprofit adverse to border patrol?  Why does a humanitarian nonprofit have armed cartel-like men offering for-profit smuggling services?  How does an organization which routinely violates the law keep its tax-exempt status?  OMG’s investigation into No More Deaths reveals the growing abuse of nonprofit laws by organizations hiding under the cloak of religious affiliation and potentially profiting off human trafficking.  One thing is clear – men are armed, secrecy is rampant, and fear is wielded by nonprofit organizations running unfettered.

Okay so first-
The person I was arguing is actually a man, so I feel bad for misgendering him while I was making fun of him. Name was androgynous.
But he dared me to find proof that the organization in charge of our town's pride was not actually a nonprofit because he'd done the research and it was only fair that I show MY proof. So I told him about the website, I told him that it's listed as a 501(c)3 when you search google. He said that that wasn't proof. So I asked him what proof was acceptable and he said a screenshot. So I gave him screenshots.
And he blocked me.
But not before responding with this:
Tumblr media
... as I am writing 'thank you for your sponsorship' posts to the sponsors for the pride festival that we're putting together.
They blocked me, so its kind of over, but Red was still talking to him and asked him who organizes pride.
And his response was something like "Y'all are so hard up on pride and you don't even know who runs it? Prove me wrong and I'll tell you!"
I'm like... 90% sure this dude is a nazi.
Anyways, I'm calling this the end. This dude showed his entire ass.

DONATIONS ACCEPTED UNTIL: The event ends. See above. You can get a bingo card up until our last video, which will be announced well in advance (here, Twitter, etc). Note, however, you'll be at a slight disadvantage to choose a prize, as bingo winners get to choose in order of their wins.
🌠 Important links:
Trans Lifeline's website
Our fundraiser Tiltify (donate here! Remember: leave contact info!)
My YouTube channel (the bingo videos go here!)
My Discord, or my Twitter, or my Tumblrs (1 | 2), for updates
🌠 FAQ:
Where can I donate? Via our Tiltify! Include contact info in the comment of your donation if you want a bingo card.
Where can I find updates? You can find updates here on funishment-time or iris-polaris, on my YouTube, on my Twitter, or on my Discord.
Do any donations touch your wallet? Nope. All proceeds go directly to Trans Lifeline via Tiltify. I don't get a cent of it, not even for a second.
Do I have to donate via Tiltify to participate? Yes, sorry. This is the only way I can easily keep track. However, Tiltify accepts any form of currency IIRC.
Can I get a bingo card for a friend? Yes, but you must donate twice (or more), even if it means donating $5 USD each time. I will issue you two (or more) cards, and you can give them out as you wish.
Can I donate without participating in the bingo? Totes. Just ignore all the bingo stuff if you want. But you won't get any cool prizes!
What if, on the bingo card, I see a prediction that I know is true? If, for example, Miu survives the game and you know it, don't mark the space until I get to that point in the game. This means that you do not get a bingo until I get to that point in the game. (Example: if you need the "Miu survives" space to get a bingo, it's not a bingo until I get there. I tried to balance this out by providing spaces about the way I play the game, too.)
Is this really your first time playing v3? Yes. I know like two spoilers (the killer and victim of trial 1, for example) and I understand the characters' personalities from Summer Camp, but I've never played the game.
Isn't it a little weird to play a killing game...game for Trans Lifeline? Yeah, but like, the fandom is super queer anyway so why not.
Are you trans? Sort-of. Queer/genderweird, definitely. Any pronouns are fine. I like to think of my gender as..."bear."
🌠 BINGO VIDEOS SO FAR:
Week 1 (9/8): 5 spaces
Week 2 (9/21): 6 spaces
Week 3 (10/12): 4 spaces
Week 4 (11/12): 2 spaces
Week 5 (1/24): 3 spaces
✨ Thank you for spreading the word...or for participating! ✨

BY PARK MACDOUGALD
The “movement,” in turn, while it recruits from among students and other self-motivated radicals willing to put their bodies on the line, relies heavily on the funding of progressive donors and nonprofits connected to the upper reaches of the Democratic Party. Take the epicenter of the nationwide protest movement, Columbia University. According to reporting in the New York Post, the Columbia encampment was principally organized by three groups: Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP), and Within Our Lifetime (WOL). Let’s take each in turn.
JVP is, in essence, the “Jewish”-branch of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement, backed by the usual big-money progressive donors—including some, like the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, that were instrumental in selling Obama’s Iran Deal to the public. JVP and its affiliated political action arm, JVP Action, have received at least $650,000 from various branches of George Soros’ philanthropic empire since 2017, $441,510 from the Kaphan Foundation (founded by early Amazon employee Sheldon Kaphan), $340,000 from the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, and smaller amounts from progressive donors such as the Quitiplas Foundation, according to reporting from the New York Post and NGO Monitor, a pro-Israel research institute. JVP has also received nearly $1.5 million from various donor-advised funds—which allow wealthy clients to give anonymously through their financial institutions—run through the charitable giving arms of Fidelity Investments, Charles Schwab, Morgan Stanley, Vanguard, and TIAA, according to NGO Monitor’s review of those institutions’ tax documents.
SJP, by contrast, is an outgrowth of the Islamist networks dissolved during the U.S. government’s prosecution of the Holy Land Foundation (HLF) and related charities for fundraising for Hamas. SJP is a subsidiary of an organization called American Muslims for Palestine (AMP); SJP in fact has no “formal corporate structure of its own but operates as AMP’s campus brand,” according to a lawsuit filed last week against AJP Educational Fund, the parent nonprofit of AMP. Both AMP and SJP were founded by the same man, Hatem Bazian, a Palestinian academic who formerly fundraised for KindHearts, an Islamic charity dissolved in 2012 pursuant to a settlement with the U.S. Treasury, which froze the group’s assets for fundraising for Hamas (KindHearts did not admit wrongdoing in the settlement). And several of AMP’s senior leaders are former fundraisers for HLF and related charities, according to November congressional testimony from former U.S. Treasury official Jonathan Schanzer. An ongoing federal lawsuit by the family of David Boim, an American teenager killed in a Hamas terrorist attack in 1996, goes so far as to allege that AMP is a “disguised continuance” and “legal alter-ego” of the Islamic Association for Palestine, was founded with startup money from current Hamas official Musa Abu Marzook and dissolved alongside HLF. AMP has denied it is a continuation of IAP.
Today, however, National SJP is legally a “fiscal sponsorship” of another nonprofit: a White Plains, New York, 501(c)(3) called the WESPAC Foundation. A fiscal sponsorship is a legal arrangement in which a larger nonprofit “sponsors” a smaller group, essentially lending it the sponsor’s tax-exempt status and providing back-office support in exchange for fees and influence over the sponsorship’s operations. For legal and tax purposes, the sponsor and the sponsorship are the same entity, meaning that the sponsorship is relieved of the requirement to independently disclose its donors or file a Form 990 with the IRS. This makes fiscal sponsorships a “convenient way to mask links between donors and controversial causes,” according to the Capital Research Center. Donors, in other words, can effectively use nonprofits such as WESPAC to obscure their direct connections to controversial causes.
Something of the sort appears to be happening with WESPAC. Run by the market researcher Howard Horowitz, WESPAC reveals very little about its donors, although scattered reporting and public disclosures suggest that the group is used as a pass-through between larger institutions and pro-Palestinian radicals. Since 2006, for instance, WESPAC has received more than half a million in donations from the Elias Foundation, a family foundation run by the private equity investor James Mann and his wife. WESPAC has also received smaller amounts from Grassroots International (an “environmental” group heavily funded by Thousand Currents), the Sparkplug Foundation (a far-left group funded by the Wall Street fortune of Felice and Yoram Gelman), and the Bafrayung Fund, run by Rachel Gelman, an heir to the Levi Strauss fortune and the sister of Democratic Rep. Dan Goldman. (A self-described “abolitionist,” Gelman was featured in a 2020 New York Times feature on “The Rich Kids Who Want to Tear Down Capitalism.”) In 2022, WESPAC also received $97,000 from the Tides Foundation, the grant-making arm of the Tides Nexus.
WESPAC, however, is not merely the fiscal sponsor of the Hamas-linked SJP but also the fiscal sponsor of the third group involved in organizing the Columbia protests, Within Our Lifetime (WOL), formerly known as New York City SJP. Founded by the Palestinian American lawyer Nerdeen Kiswani, a former activist with the Hunter College and CUNY chapters of SJP, WOL has emerged over the past seven months as perhaps the most notorious antisemitic group in the country, and has been banned from Facebook and Instagram for glorifying Hamas. A full list of the group’s provocations would take thousands of words, but it has been the central organizing force in the series of “Flood”-themed protests in New York City since Oct. 7, including multiple bridge and highway blockades, a November riot at Grand Central Station, the vandalism of the New York Public Library, and protests at the Rockefeller Center Christmas-tree lighting. In addition to their confrontational tactics, WOL-led protests tend to have a few other hallmarks. These include eliminationist rhetoric directed at the Jewish state—such as Arabic chants of “strike, strike, Tel Aviv”; the prominent display of Hezbollah flags and other insignia of explicitly Islamist resistance; the presence of masked Arab street muscle; and the antisemitic intimidation of counterprotesters by said masked Arab street muscle.
WOL’s role appears to be that of shock troops, akin to the role played by black block militants on the anarchist side of the ledger. WOL is, however, connected to more seemingly “mainstream” elements of the anti-Israel movement. Abdullah Akl, a prominent WOL leader—indeed, the man leading the “strike Tel Aviv” chants in the video linked above—is also listed as a “field organizer” on the website of MPower Change, the “advocacy project” led by Linda Sarsour. MPower Change, in turn, is a fiscal sponsorship of NEO Philanthropy, another large progressive clearinghouse. NEO Philanthropy and its 501(c)(4) “sister,” NEO Philanthropy Action Fund, have received more than $37 million from Soros’ Open Society Foundations since 2021 alone, as well as substantial funding from the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, the Ford Foundation, and the Tides Foundation.

On Tyranny and Tumblr #4: Take responsibility for the face of the world
The symbols of today enable the reality of tomorrow. Notice the swastikas and the other signs of hate. Do not look away, and do not get used to them. Remove them yourself and set an example for others to do so.
Some of this must be done offline. If you are financially able, now is a good time to stock up on stickers from Black Lives Matter, the Progress Initiative* and/or other organizations that make Pride flag stickers, Planned Parenthood, or independent artists walking their talk while making stickers whose messages you agree with. (Watch out for giant corporations and dropshippers.)
Hell, make your own stickers! Sell them if you want, or don't, but do put them up in public spaces where stickering is allowed (or isn't allowed but is happening anyway). Place your own symbols and cover hateful ones.
If you're a graffiti artist, do your thing. If you see a graffiti artist doing their thing and they're not being a fascist about it, no you don't!
Look, bumper sticker activism won't save the world. It won't. But taking down or taping over hate symbols in the real world and making symbols of progress, solidarity, and liberation more visible has an impact. As a queer person, I exhale a little bit - a little bit - when I see someone else wearing a Progress Pride pin or with a rainbow sticker on their car.
Snyder asserts that "Life is political, not because the world cares about how you feel, but but because the world reacts to what you do. The minor choices we make are themselves a kind of vote, making it more or less likely that free and fair elections will be held in the future. In the politics of the everyday, our words and gestures, or their absence, count very much... You might one day be offered the opportunity to display symbols of loyalty. Make sure that such symbols include your fellow citizens rather than exclude them" (Snyder 33-35).
Snyder uses imperfect language here. Whether a person is a citizen or not, is documented or not, is like you or not, make sure the symbols you display include them rather than exclude them.
Don't display symbols you don't agree with to avoid trouble. And don't avoid displaying any symbols at all out of fear. Your silence may be louder than you think.
Some ways we can apply this in our online lives include:
-Educate yourself on hate symbols, and update your knowledge regularly. Dogwhistles change when hate groups realize we're on to them. The Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti-Defamation League are good resources for learning about active hate groups and their current symbols.
-Let your mutuals or people you follow know if they are posting hateful symbols. Approach them one-on-one as if they are making a mistake, because they might be! I just had a conversation with an acquaintance in real life who had no idea that the Punisher skull is being used as a symbol by real-life far-right paramilitary groups.
-If you see accounts using hate speech or symbols repeatedly and on purpose, report them. Use the ADL database above and/or articles from the SPLC or other trustworthy publications as evidence in your report, since not everyone knows about every current hate symbol.
-Keep posting and reblogging content you believe in. Don't shame people; "I bet no one will reblog this", "No one is talking about this AND YOU KNOW WHY", and "If you don't reblog this you're a ___" are just not helpful, constructive, or true. But make your online space into a place with symbols that reflect who your activism includes.
*The Progress Initiative is not a 501(c)3 nonprofit, but the shop of Daniel Quasar, the person who created the original Progress Pride flag. Quasar enthusiastically encourages the creation and use of variations on their flag design, including those that include the intersex flag symbol.
Other lessons from On Tyranny:
#1: Do not obey in advance
#2: Defend institutions
#3: Beware the one-party state

Support Entertainment Workers On The Strike Line
"Roughly 172,000 entertainment workers are currently striking, and many are walking picket lines across Los Angeles this summer during an historic heat wave. For the first time in over 60 years, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Screen Actors Guild/ American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) are on strike at the same time, essentially halting entertainment production as members seek a fair contract. Picketers outside production giants like Amazon, Disney, Netflix, Paramount, Sony, Universal and Warner Brothers are braving blistering conditions 5 days a week this summer in order to make their voices heard demanding higher wages, calling out unfair streaming compensation packages, the lack of regulation around the use of AI, and many more unjust grievances.
Regarding the timeline for a resolution, one studio executive was quoted as saying, “The endgame is to allow things to drag on until union members start losing their apartments and losing their houses.” Right now, this strike is the front line of the labor movement.
You can find a picket line here: https://www.wgacontract2023.org/strike/picket-schedules-and-locations
The Plan
Community Solidarity Project is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that works to support organizations and campaigns in their work for justice and empowerment through event production, logistics management and donation gathering. As the entertainment industry, which is at the heart of Los Angeles, walks off the lot in the name of just and modernized working conditions, our organization is a grassroots partner to striking members in the struggle for workers' rights in 2023.
We are working alongside Strike Captains to mobilize and allocate community resources to support members on the line. With all eyes on Hollywood, consistently strong and well-populated picket lines are a crucial component to showing the media and studio bosses how much public support there is for workers' rights.
The Programs
We have partnered with local grocery stores as well as Best Food Trucks to bring weekly donations of water, sports drinks, fresh fruit, and lunch to a minimum of four picket lines for an initial period of 4 weeks, with the potential to go longer if the strikes continue.
Water, sports drinks & fruit: This effort is already underway, with resources being delivered to four strike lines weekly starting the week of Monday, July 17.
Lunch from Best Food Trucks: This partnership enables us to regularly bring high quality lunches to picketers on a reliable schedule.
Financial Goals
In order to sustain these efforts, we need to raise a minimum of $3200 per week. Here's how those numbers break down:
$6/lunch x 100 people x 4 studio locations = $2,400/week
5 cases/water + 5 cases/sports drinks + 2 cases/fruit x 4 locations = $800/week
As this effort grows, we could aim to cover 10 separate strike lines, 5 days a week! But to get this off the ground, we need to start with the first week at the $3200 mark, and then the first month at a minimum $12,800. By that time, we hope to be exceeding our goals and growing the amount of coverage this effort can sustain.
Historical Significance
Since the mid-1800s, Los Angeles has been a Union Town. At that time, workers in professions such as baking, cigar making, metalworking, printing, and carpentry organized themselves to demand better conditions and fair wages from bosses. Filmmaking began to unionize in the 1890s when IATSE - the International Association of Theatrical and Stage Employees - formed in response to worker exploitation in that industry. Within a few short decades, the Writers Guild of America (WGA), the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) all took root in Hollywood in order to protect the labor and talent upon which filmmaking and entertainment are built. Today, those labor organizations are rising up again to protect the workers in a modernized entertainment industry.
Support the labor movement today in a uniquely Los Angeles way, by providing much needed sustenance to striking entertainment workers."
