starting a thread of shit that happens on my trip to the states to visit my biological family

things that have already happened (haven’t left yet)

- i told my father that i had booked flights for the tentative dates i had set out. he immediately said that he would be Away At Work, Possibly Out Of The Country, the whole time. i was fine with this

- told my mom i had booked flights. she asked me to reschedule to late june for the third time. i explained how booking flights works when you’re flat broke. she agreed to block off one (1) day where she will not be studying or working

- she’s getting her nursing degree. second nursing degree?? she’s working as a nurse while also getting the degree that will let her work as a higher ranked nurse. i don’t know how nursing school works

- for a while i was planning to get in at midnight spend the rest of the night at the airport and then take the first bus to my dads house. different than my moms house. i forgot to mention that their divorce just went through.

- my dad is apparently Not working the whole time i’m there. i have resigned myself to dealing with him so i can hang out with my siblings.

- my grandmother has thought i was in the state since early may. i keep reminding her that i will not get there until the 22. i am not sure if this has sunk in.

Today I discovered the most joyous of Silly Creature celebrations: a celebration of color! I decided that I must join in the festivities. It was a wonderful experience! I’ll have to bring this celebration back with me to Fraggle Rock, I believe Gobo and his friends would enjoy it just as much as I did.

Finally got my one shower for the week in town and immediately nullified it when I realized I actually had time to go explore the creek by the road up the mountain.

I have acquired the curse of minor creek grime for another week. However! I did find a giant signal crawdad and a bunch of different mayfly larva, so it evens out.

Ur train was doing so good on shaving down the delay time. And then it went from an hour behind to two. Anyways. If you can make it to crater lake before the conductor hunts you down with a gun you’ll reach a safe zone. 🫡
