Sonic wanting to help Knuckles so badly but not at all understanding why he can't just chill out and entertain himself has me going feral.

As if I'm not insane enough about them forming a bond while being two child victims of a war that wiped out each others' families??? but I digress. The way their last interactions with their parental figures played out speaks such volumes about who they eventually became. Sonic's final instruction from Long Claw was to stay hidden and to never stop running. Eventually, Long Claw changed her tune in the message she left on the map to the master emerald, but until then she had made it abundantly clear that she wanted nothing more than for Sonic to just live his own life far from danger.

Sonic took this to heart. He never stopped running, physically and emotionally. He's all about fun and self-distraction, and while he eventually overcame that pressure to stay hidden in order to take on a more heroic role, he does what he can to live up to Long Claw's expectations: live his own life and be himself.

On the opposite end of things is Knuckles. He said he was "trained since birth in all forms of lethal combat." Knuckles was set up to go to war from the moment he hatched, and the last thing that his father said to him was an assurance that he would one day bring honor to their tribe.

So that became his main goal from then on. He fought his way to the ends of the world until he was renowned as the most dangerous warrior in the galaxy. He spent every waking moment trying to track Sonic down so he could fulfill his destiny and reclaim the master emerald.

He, like Sonic, lived a life of isolation, dedicated to honoring the memory of a dead parental figure, but while Sonic never stopped being his own person, Knuckles never quite started being his own person. He remains with the Wachowskis to honor a vow he made to Sonic and Tails. He tears the living room apart so that the household pet can face his "greatest enemy." He goes on a road trip with Wade to help him train after he gets kicked off his bowling team. How can he just step back and entertain himself when all "himself" has ever been is what he can be for his tribe? Old and new? How is he supposed to relax when he has probably, no exaggeration, never relaxed a single day of his life?

How can he take a break from being a warrior when being a warrior is all he has ever known?

He literally didn't know the definition of the word fun until Sonic taught him how to play "base of ball." What has been Sonic's coping mechanisms his entire life are, to Knuckles, completely counterintuitive and alien.

Post-invasion, Mikey sneaks into Leo’s room and when asked by Leo what the problem was, Mikey just smiles and says since he’s awake and knew Leo would be too, he didn’t want either of them alone. Leo laughs and lets Mikey stick around, both of them clumped together on Leo’s bed, watching grainy compilations of old Lou Jitsu commercials on Leo’s phone.

Technically, Mikey didn’t lie. He just didn’t explain everything that led him to Leo’s room. He didn’t explain the nightmare of his arms burning up too bright, too fast, destroyed before Raph and Donnie have a chance to help. He didn’t explain how he woke up with a wail caught in his throat, phantom pain in his arms and chest alike chasing away any semblance of exhaustion. He didn’t explain how his mind made sure he knew, vividly, that if one thing went wrong with his portal, then he would have never seen Leo again.

He didn’t explain, and he didn’t have to. Leo knows his brothers better than he knows himself, and Mikey has always been easy to read. So it’s no trouble to let Mikey know that he’s still with them, that Leo is here and alive with everyone else. And when Mikey finally regains his exhaustion and falls asleep leaning against Leo, Leo simply maneuvers him into a more comfortable position and stays by his side.

He doesn’t move, doesn’t go to sleep - not that he could, anyway. He just mindlessly scrolls on his phone, the soft snores of his little brother filling the room. He stays in place, awake, because he wants to be sure that when Mikey wakes up again it’s to the immediate sight that Leo is alive and well and home.

And, if Leo’s bring honest, that’s a reminder not just for Mikey’s sake.

Fanfic prompt:

the bunny legend twist is really funny

And considering how both the twilight curse and the darkness induced curse in link to the past work differently

The twilight curse turns you into your most innermost animal (in the case of link and people consider that it has something to do with the triforce that makes link different ) or just straight up turns you into a ghost (like literally the rest of all hyrule)

But considering that the curse found in the dark world specifically says that it is a reflection of your heart and therefore already works differently than the twilight curse as you can be a monstrosity with no real limits other than how Messed up you are

Wouldn’t it be beyond messed up when legend picked up the twilight shard but his innocent rabbit appearance just didn’t happen

Because it just triggered his dark curse

Like for all he says he finds it annoying it probably would hurt a lot more to realize that this soft vulnerable part of him doesn’t reflect who he is

At least not anymore

The curse in link to the past can turn you into a monstrous beast more often than not

Like that must hurt to end up a dangerous jaded beast

the messed up rabbit equivalent of one because the appearance of a predatory rabbit in many media signifies the loss of innocence as it twists into pure violence against what hurt them once

(Interestingly enough a white rabbit with red eyes is usually the symbol for it or one who wears a rabbit skull on its head instead of a face )

So let him be a little nightmare and hate himself as he takes the form of a monstrosity once more (fucked up were rabbit legend my beloved)

And like that would essentially be a feedback loop for him because the more he hates how he looks the more it would reflect on the outside

The worse it will get for legend because he hates even more how he looks

And it shows again

Being a bitter, snarky very confrontational lil guy… legend probably would dial up the self destructiveness pretty fast even if he is fighting not to be a monstrosity (feedback loop my beloved would work against him every step of the way)

Meanwhile twilight has to watch in horror as legend turns into a snarling creature thing and runs off full monster mode

Like twilight just turned around and the first thing he sees is a…”thing” that probably is legend

Then legend freaked the hell out and ran into the woods in fear of what he just turned into

And twilight realized that being a wolf of rather average size is not something to complain over

So Wolfie chase it is

And when he gets to him it only seems to get worse because this is going into melted eldritch horror territory by this point

...and he still has the ability to talk like a person and is being self deprecating about it

Legend be like : “I am such a monstrosity …”

Twilight: “no no it’s alright”

Legend : “I miss my uncle”

Twilight: “oh, that’s deeper than I wanna go”

And also they probably have to get the chain not to shoot at him or else it probably would get even worse than it already is

Or get sky… but for that he needs to drag legend out the cave he crawled in and leave him unsupervised

And it very much isn’t going great in the slightest already

Oh heck trend time

Decided to try my hand at making a Suncat and gaurd run on clangen based on @jumalanpelko and had these creatures! Lore time!

TW: threatening self harm, harm to cats, animal harm, general cult stuff, and trauma. PLEASE do not read if this bothers you.

Suncat (nicknamed Solar flare here) was absolutely a horrible choice. They were egotistical and maniacal, making demands and sacrifices Willy nilly. Their gaurd (Plaksa) was assigned to them when Solar was born, and she was doing a good job until Solar got the idea that instead of a host for a god, he’s taking the god HOSTAGE.

If anyone said no, said something against his wishes? Well then he’d walk along the roof of the cult, shame if he fell or worse, died. Constantly endangering himself with the promise to others that if he died, the god would leak from his corpse and into the soil where they’d never get it back.

Course some didn’t believe this, but the Suncat dying BEFORE suneve would be a problem obviously. So Solar was very tyrannical and chaotic.

Plaksa of course tried so hard to defend them from others but came around to confront them, to say this wasn’t the way, they needed to stop and just calm down ‘dude you’re supposed to listen to the cult not the other way around’ etc. She did eventually drag him into the cult home and keep him away from any dangers as she yelled at em. Too bad she forgets cats have claws.

Instead of listening to her, Solar made her listen that he was serious as hell at continuing controlling everyone, including her. By slashing his own neck. Of course he didn’t die, Plaska made sure of that by alerting others. But after that, plaksa had to make sure Solar wasn’t harmed by anything. Even himself. And if that meant bending to his will…so be it. She became more meek and reserved. And stayed in her head most of the time. That’s totally..healthy.

After months of torment, sacrifices, and other weird stuff, suneve arrives. Solar has been hiding his symptoms, and happily boasts that he won’t die, and in fact SHE loves him so much, that he’s staying. Forever.

When they return to his quarters high above the cult on the rafters of the building, Plaksa has snapped. Months and months of this chaos and torment, and she doesn’t know Solar is ACTUALLY dying. For all she knows, he’ll continue this forever. So in a fit of chaotic thinking, she pushes Solar off the rafters to the ground below, screaming she’s sorry over and over.

Solar dies…and a new Suncat is chosen. The cycle continues.

Note- Yes gaurd did murder Suncat in my clangen by pulling a mufasa. That’s why we be nice to people yall

Becoming disabled/chronically ill can be a very traumatic experience.

And this trauma shouldn't be downplayed or dismissed.
