While I understand the point, PR-wise- of issuing an apology for, say, publishing a letter in support of a convicted rapist, what I don't understand is why anyone would believe anything has changed. Why ever trust the person (or people) in question when their initial point made it clear they're more concerned about the rapist than his victims.

Referring to Arya's development in Braavos as "brief descriptions" when her AFfC/ADwD chapters are almost entirely dedicated to showing us her training is...certainly a choice. Doing so to claim that Sansa has the more detailed learning arc? Pure clownery. You'd never guess from this response that the original post was about detailing Arya's training with the FM (using quotes from the book!) and makes no mention of Sansa anywhere. Notably this response provides no evidence from the books and makes objectively false claims; nowhere across five books is Sansa mentioned to have a grasp of High Valyrian but, of course, Sansa has to be handed every skill that Arya has without any page space dedicated to learning it. I know this is a wild concept, but Arya exists as her own character and not everything about her story can be applied to Sansa.

Are true riverdale fans of the opinion it is a very good and nearly flawless show or does being a true riverdale fan mean being able to mock writing choices

it's long-running serial television plotted a season/half at a time so definitely not even "nearly" flawless.

BUT. i'm not doing combat with the writing team. i'm not actively reading against the text the way i have to in order to enjoy something like supernatural or the 90s robin comics or the fucking sopranos, which are patriarchal christiancore copworld rapeworld white supremacist horrorshows that hate their minority audiences, with like 2 good creatives involved and martyring themselves to fight the good fight on sparse rare installments if you try to approach them sincerely.

riverdale writing staff are like a favorite smart problematic tumblr mutual to me. I don't always like what's on their blog or who they're referencing. but we're in the same community and i'm interested and inspired and i trust their agenda overall, even when i see shit i wouldn't have fucking posted. but bc i'm not being condescended to or actively spited i'm not gonna condescend to or spite them, you know?

i expect rvd to age like twin peaks (another very uneven, highly referential serial juggling a couple of intensely cool metanarratives on top of its core story). and twin peaks fandom mocks twin peaks all the time. twin peaks includes some CLUNKY shit. it's kitsch. it's camp. it has a second season that is largely ASS. james is there. and on top of that it also includes some genuinely offputting-to-me stuff that just bothers me to sit through, even though i feel like i understand and respect what they're going for with it. i just don't want to watch someone sweep the fucking bar for minutes and minutes as entertainment. OK!!?

...so yeah. mock riverdale but in the right spirit. is that an answer? do i sound like i'm chugging the flavoraid koolaid fresh-aid? probably.

honestly one of the only things that like- gets me through thinking about my sisters wedding is imagining if the bily m/c had an older sister like i do. my fantasy of choice is of namjoon and hobi and jimin and yoongi finding her and having a talk with her. Maybe she reaches out to the m/c and the m/c is torn with if she even can handle her sister in her life- maybe this is sometime in the future where the m/c is kinda wobbling a little in her recovery. she has her support system and everything but every day takes effort and she's tired. and unfortunatly- the m/c's sister reaching out kinda tips her over the edge for a single night before the pack catch her.

i can picture the rage in hobi's eyes, idk why in my mind this version of my sister works in a hospital as an administrator, maybe thats why namjoon has been able to corner her for a meeting. and it doesn't start out well because the m/c's sister mistakenly calls yoongi geumjae. but anyway- hobi's rage, i can hear his voice shaking has he growls it. "if you knew why didn't you stop it? You where her family, you where supposed to protect her. she was a child." "she was an adult." "she was a child."

absolutely feral when she so casually admits that she knew what was going on between the m/c and geumjae before they got married, and maybe it gets a bit heated and namjoon removes hobi from the room because he looks like he's about to punch her. leaving just yoongi and jimin standing there (a mistake)

and jimin slowly grinds out his cigarette on her papers as yoongi talks, "let me say this clearly so that you understand, first- we are not family. You are not welcome at our pack house, i do not like you and never will. if you ever do or say anything to hurt my mate again-" "you'll what? you'll hurt me?" and yoongi just laughs as jimin smiles and says, "Oh, He won't do a thing to you. yoongi's harmless." and she looks almost cocky until jimin giggles and says, "I am not."

like the dialogue alone would be so so good

The thing about Phantom of the Opera is that unlike most of the gothic classics, the actual novel is really just some pulp. It was not a famous or remarkable book, in fact its legacy is almost entirely down to the silent movie they adapted from it. It would certainly have vanished into the mists of time like countless similar pulp serials if the film had never happened.
