I headcanon that sometimes certain things will trigger very vivid flashbacks to Shen Qingqiu's (Shen Yuan's) past world.

One second he's navigating an unusually dense crowd of people during some kind of festival; the next second hes walking in a big city (we'll say Shanghai just bc) with all the lights and the people

He descending the stairs in a stone tower (probably some investigation about people in a nearby village going missing) and the next thing he knows he's in the stairwell in his apartment because the elevator broke

He splashes water on his face one morning and for a second he's back in his apartment's bathroom. His vision blury because he doesn't have his glasses, not just because he has water in his eyes

One day he's getting lectured about without a cure by Mu Qingfang, he blinks and his martial brother is suddenly a modern doctor (yes I head cannon sy as having a clinical illness like most of the fandom)

He's pouring over documents and paperwork with Binghe and suddenly he's studying for exams (or doing hw) with his college roommate

3AM thoughts:

Shen Qingqiu loses his memories while on a solo mission. A rich noble man finds him and is "kind" enough to offer shelter until Shen Qingqiu gets his bearings (perhaps regain his memory too) and figures out his next steps.

Except Shen Qingqiu doesn't regain his memories in the next couple months and ends up accepting the noble's courtship...

He finds himself so happy and content (and pampered) that he can't imagine how or why his past self became a cultivator. Or maybe he became a cultivator just so he could look forever young and thin no matter how much sweets he eats? Hm, that's a valid theory. Shen Jiu gives himself a pat on the back.

Cue Cang Qiong, desperately searching for their missing Qing Jing peak lord for months, nearly a couple years in fact, finding their missing peak lord being a pampered spoiled first wife lounging in his courtyard barefoot and full of so much delicious food that he could pass off as 3 months pregnant thanks to his willow thin frame.

Well, that's what they thought until Mu Qingfang confirmed that Shen Qingqiu was indeed a couple months pregnant...

(Naturally the noble man aka Shen Jiu's husband is actually Shen Yuan the transmigrator who stumbled upon a cultivator with the signature green robes that Shen Yuan couldn't not recognize as Qing Jing peak. He remembers Yue Qingyuan and instead looks around for the iconic fan he'd given the scum villain. Finding a plain one nearby he immediately flicks it open. Then closes it.

"Get out," he growls at the sect leader.

Yue Qi looks apologetic. "This shixiong- simply wished to know his shidis health. Recovering from a Qi deviation is no small matter."

So the original goods died to a qi deviation? He puts that away to unpack later and instead asks for Mu Qingfang, specifically so he can ask him to fuck off.

"This Yue Qi-"

"Unless zhangmen-Shixiong can treat this one, he should leave." Aeroplane grits out. Then he gets an idea. "Even if he can, he should leave nonetheless rather than extend his hand to this unworthy one."

It's perfectly timed as Yue Qingyuan pales just as Mu Qingfang enters. The Qian Cao peak Lord is great at chasing the sect leader out of the room, only after which does Shen Qingqiu let a breath loose.

If anyone could potentially realise he's not Shen Jiu, it's Yue Qingyuan. Now he just has to do .. that . . with every other Peak Lord.

When he wakes, he finds he has lost far more than he can bear--or than he realizes.

It turns out… if you don’t use it appropriately it’ll either not work at all because it has no target, or will swap you with your soul mate. Too bad Luo Binghe had no idea about that. He was just going to drink tea and somehow he found himself in Shen Qingqiu’s body, staring at his own sword mound. Oh and what the absolute hell is the ringing in his ear?

There are plenty of skills one can pick up in the Endless Abyss if curious or just desperate enough. The shape changing had been explained as being able to look like other people. This isn’t what happens when Luo Binghe tries it. What happens is that he’s transformed into a tiny dog with masses of curly black fur. When he catches his reflection while transformed, his first thought is, Shizun would definitely want to pet me. (Or, the one where Luo Binghe can turn into a dog, infiltrates Qing Jing, and seeks Shizun's affections through fluffy subterfuge)

The System's OOC function won't unlock all at once - instead, character traits have to be added individually, through quests. This leads to Shen Qingqiu having to jump through endless hoops just to complete enough side quests to unlock the ability to be a decent person - all while avoiding the effects it has on those around him. If only the cheapskate System wouldn't keep changing the cost of point values - he needs to know what the hell Yue Qingyuan told the others about him that makes them all look so sad when he does manage to be nice! He's breaking his back here, can't we just appreciate his work?!

When Shen Qingqiu fails his first mission, he loses the opportunity to unfreeze the OOC function. He has to go through the events of the story in-character as the original goods. He's definitely getting human sticked. Meanwhile, Luo Binghe is getting paranoid that his Shizun has started being nice to him. In a really mean way.

Right, the villain's beautiful daughter, who had caught a glimpse of the Protagonist from afar and, naturally, fell madly in love at first sight. She'd used her knowledge of her father's lair to sneak into the dungeon where Luo Binghe was being held and eventually proved the key to his escape, betraying her father for love. "So, you want to try to find some random girl who's willing to sneak in past the guards to Luo Binghe's prison and..." "What random girl could we possibly trust? I'll do it myself!" "You know what," Shang Qinghua said. "Somehow I feel like I should have expected this." --- Shen Qingqiu self-detonated at Hua Yue City, but he didn't die. Instead, he wakes up to a world where Cang Qiong is victorious and Luo Binghe has been imprisoned beneath the mountain. What's a poor transmigrator to do? He has to find a way to free the Protagonist before he breaks out and razes the Sect to the ground! Clearly, the best way to do this is to pretend to be one of Luo Binghe's future wives. Clearly.

He feels the ghost of Shen Qingqiu’s gentle touch on his skin like a persistent burning sensation, flames of longing licking at the nape of his neck. He wants it. He hates it. He needs it. Or Luo Binghe (aka Bingge), because he’s the protagonist, gets his wish granted the moment he wakes on the cold floor of the woodshed, beaten black and blue, and fourteen again.

So when Huan Hua calls for Shen Qingqiu’s imprisonment in Jinlan City, Without-A-Cure makes it very clear that Shen Qingqiu can not be held in the Water Prison away from the medical attention he needs these days. Instead, Shen Qingqiu is allowed to return to Qing Jing, provided he takes Luo Binghe back with him.

Shang Qinghua, also known as Airplane Shooting Towards the Sky, stared flatly at what had once been a field boasting near sect-level Feng Shui alignment, and the drowned, bloated remains of the Sun and Moon Dew Flower cuttings that had sprouted within it. Their plan was now quite literally a wash. If only he could consult Cucumber Bro on how to save Cucumber Bro! But in the absence of Cucumber Bro, he could but rely on the one plot coupon the infamous Peerless Cucumber had ever applauded.

Shen Yuan has amnesia. Good thing his husband is there to take care of him! - Following a failed attempt to detonate his core in order to save Luo Binghe at Huayue City, Shen Qingqiu instead suffers a qi deviation and loses his memory. Luo Binghe, in turn, loses his shit and steals him away for awhile.

He blinks, and they aren’t eyes at all, but feathers, perched on a mound of coiled, shifting vines that are dotted with white thorns dyed their own bright red from Shen Qingqiu’s blood. “Go to sleep, Shizun,” the black-and-red bird sings, coaxing. “Go to sleep,” Luo Bingge repeats, as he flickers back into being. or: Shen Qingqiu is attacked by a monster that drops him into a dream of a perfect world--with Luo Binghe featuring front and center.

Fresh out of the Abyss, Luo Binghe learns that he alone can cure Shen Qingqiu's chronic ailment. With this information in hand, he pursues an alternative strategy involving interspecies diplomacy and a royal alliance. After all, Cang Qiong can't expect a gentleman to dual-cultivate outside of marriage.

This one is a PIDW!Mu Qingfang transmigrating/time travelling(?) to an early point in the SVSSS timeline to try and prevent everything that happened in PIDW. Except he doesn't know what happened for everything to go wrong, but at least he can prevent a multitude of his martial sibling's medical problems instead. (I think someone made a text post about this? It's probably why I wrote it) Unsure if I'll ever continue this one, anyone is free to explore it further!

Mu Qingfang didn’t know whether to take his own life or to let life take it’s reins after his final disciple was taken away from him.

He has no right to call himself the Lord of Qian Cao if he cannot protect his disciples. Even after his peak has been long since destroyed. Even with no sect leader or martial siblings to lead with anymore. Lord Luo had informed him Shang Qinghua was executed by the Northern Demon King months ago. Betrayal, as it always was with the man.

Mu Qingfang will still miss the irregular steps his shixiong’s cane added to his confident strides. Even when it was just the two of them left, now in servitude to the demon emperor, Shang Qinghua never admitted to where the old injury came from. He even scoffed at him that Mu Qingfang still honored their martial bond at this point.

The only title he has left is of a doctor. And he will honor it until his death.

And then he dies.

He is executed by Lord Luo for his failures in saving one he loves. Something he was expecting from a mountain away.

And then he wakes up.

His vision is blurry, and it feels like all he can do is breathe. There’s a hand grasping his, and he can feel a stream of qi flowing into his own depleted reserves. His face is covered in sweat and slowly being wiped off as his mind struggles to make sense of reality.

“Qingfang…are you with me?” A warm voice calls to him.

His breath settles, as much as his chest feels like it constricts itself. Did he have a qi deviation? Fevers are often a symptom he is aware of, as is the way it is hard to think.

He turns his head to the voice, and he’s sure the shock is enough to trigger another qi deviation in the process.

“…Shizun?” he manages to gasp out, feeling his Shizun run a hand through his hair,

“How are you feeling?”

Mu Qingfang must be in the heavens.

“…Tired.”

His shizun pats his head,

“Rest then, this master shall take care of you.”

It has been a long while since he could close his eyes without worry. Perhaps this is a final dream, here to shepard him into the comforts of death’s embrace.

Yes…he can accept that.

He’s been waiting a long time to see his Shizun again. To see the martial siblings that were lost to him.

Despite everything, he misses them.

It’s when Mu Qingfang opens his eyes again he realizes something must be gravely wrong.

SVSSS AU where Shen Yuan's younger sister does a villainess transmigration.

The world she ends up in was originally a dating game and visual novel with some light RPG and crafting elements. Playing as purehearted main girl Qiu Haitang, one could choose any number of routes to pursue, from dashing Liu Qingge, to scholarly Mu Qingfang, sexy ice demon Linguang Jun, cute-but-domineering younger half-demon Luo Binghe, and so on. It was an interesting game, though it notoriously inspired some frustration when some of the more interesting side characters (like Yue Qingyuan) were completely unavailable as romantic options, and inspired at lot of rumors about hidden content and demands on future DLC expansions.-

Shen Meimei hadn't particularly liked the game. Sure, she played every route to 100% completion, bought all the extras, the official soundtrack, and the merch (fanmade as well as what slim-pickings existed officially), but that shouldn't be mistaken for approval. Much of that was in fact a desperate quest to figure out what the hell was even going on! Ignore the play time listed for this scathing Steam review, everyone! It shouldn't be factored into any assessments!

The game had several problems, in Shen Meimei's opinion.

The main issue was the lack of follow-through on the buildup of the backstory. Qiu Haitang's whole family was killed one night, maybe-probably by her sketchy as fuck ex-fiancee, who was also a hostage being kept by the Qiu family as leverage against a rival family. Which begged so many questions! Shen Meimei had suspected all along that there was more to it than met the eye (not just because the evil family shared her surname) but it was never deeply delved into. The whole thing only even got resolution in some of the routes, and the most thorough was Luo Binghe's. Luo Binghe had a huge vendetta against Shen Qingqiu, Haitang's sketchy former fiance, which left a lot of room for doubt about his investigating the issue. Was Shen Qingqiu really to blame? Or was Luo Binghe just taking advantage of an opportunity to pin SOME crime on him, since he couldn't really get him for the shit he actually did to Luo Binghe himself? What about the hints regarding that Wu Yanzi guy? Why did those never seem to amount to much? Were the Qiu family really stupid enough to betroth their only daughter to a hostage, or was something else going on? And what about Xiao Qi, the slave boy servant of the Qiu who was mentioned a few times as another possible survivor or witness, but who never comes up again?

Shen Meimei played through everything, certain that there had to be some way to actually solve or gain clarity on the Mystery of the Qiu Family Murders, but even after completing the main routes and unlocking and completing the hidden ones -- nothing! It was all just swept aside in favor of tepid romance arcs, made all the more insufferable because of the compelling subtext between the male love interests. Like, why were any of these guys even interested in Haitang when they so clearly had more going on with each other?

Annoyance over a game Shen Meimei lost too many hours of her life to was one thing, of course.

Transmigrating into the younger sister of notoriously sketchy ex-fiance Shen Qingqiu was another!

Bad news: in the routes where Shen Qingqiu is prosecuted for his crimes, his whole family goes down with him. So if this goes poorly, not only will he be punished, but so will Shen Meimei!

Worse news: this fictional version of her family is almost identical to her actual real family. To the point where she would be checking everyone else for transmigration, except that no one but her seems aware that anything is odd. Shen Qingqiu acts exactly like her older brother, right down to his particular flavor of prickly social behavior and cynicism. And their middle brother is a chronically ill nerd who hate-reads trash novels and is completely fascinated by weird monsters (a much more worrisome trait in a world that actually has a lot of those...)

In short, her life is on the line, and so is her family's!

Damn you, Veiled Heroine Games! If you hadn't abandoned so many plot threats, Shen Meimei might actually know what was going on and be able to neatly circumvent everything! But now she has to figure out how to win the protagonist back over, rescue her brothers, and solve (and possibly further cover up...) the mysterious Qiu family murders, all while keeping Luo Binghe away from Shen Jiu, and preventing Qiu Haitang from completing any of the romance plotlines that will cause troubles for them! Which is most of them!

luckily for him, the disciple selection is just around the corner, and before sqq (original goods) can claim little luo binghe for himself, shen yuan calmly ignores the bickering bai zhan war god and the scum villain and claims him first. and now sqq can't bully the sect leader to have another peak lord hand over a child they chose - that would be uncouth!

and so: may the cooking isekai begin!

sy admits he 'lost his memories', and while he rushes to educate himself on spiritual cooking techniques, binghe becomes his 'right hand man' who 'helps out' (meaning, he's the one that actually cooks while sy provides commentary and cultivation cooking manuals). little bunny binghe doesn't mind, in fact it feels great to be trusted and needed by his shizun!

binghe quickly becomes the darling baby of the peak and soon, the sect. and, in true cooking isekai fashion, every problem can be and is solved with food! binghe's heavenly (demonic) food!

binghe prepares excellent 'paradise silver-moon-lotus cakes' that mu qingfang judges would be a miraculous boost to ones cultivation - so he sends some into the lingxi caves, just in time to save liu qingge from a deadly qi deviation. cake's so good it snaps liu qingge right out of the deviation.

binghe's cooking smells so good that the invading demons pause in their invasion and destruction of the rainbow bridges to go raid the culinary peak instead. sy, in a moment of total badassery, send all the kitchen knives flying, handily defeating the demons (don't forget he's a golden core cultivator too!) binghe watches him with starry eyed wonder when sy manages to save him from 'elder poison armor'. sha hualing is left to face the war god basically alone and is lucky to escape with her life.

binghe's cooking is so good that just its memory is enough to seduce meng mo into staying and teaching binghe demonic cultivation.

bad svsss fanfic/au idea, pt. 2: random svsss anti-fan (or hater) transmigrates into svsss after tweeting "stupid author, stupid novels" and proceeds to solve 90% of the novel's conflicts out of pure spite by pretending to be a seer.

"luo binghe will not kill you, shen qingqiu. just trust me when i say that."

"please listen to me when i say this, luo binghe. focus on yourself for a bit. learn to love yourself too. yes i know you're hopelessly in love but you shouldn't just rely on his affection to hold up your emotional wellbeing, okay??"

"oh yeah no. the huan hua palace's sect leader is a pervert who preyed on su xiyan, which led to a bunch of conflict and misunderstanding and now he's kinda gotten away with it." *proceeds to explain the whole lore of it* "see you later, yue qingyuan!"

"zhuzhi-lang, i have very important advice, okay. just because you love someone and believe something is best for them, you should not force them to do it. by the way, can i see your uncle real quick?"

"yeah. uhm. it was all old palace master's fault. go fuck him up, tianlang-jun. just don't kill anyone else in the process. also uh, read better romance novels please."

"gongyi xiao, if immortal master shen qingqiu and shang qinghua ever ask you to look around for some special mushrooms, run right after you help them navigate huan hua palace. like leave the damn place. you will meet your fate if you stay here. ok cool bye."

at some point they probably explain to sqq and sqh that they've transmigrated into a story that's about sqq transmigrating into PIDW, which is also a story.

there can be three routes to this:

1. there is no hurt. binghe's heartbreak points doesn't even exist. everyone is cool and there are no deaths. also tianlang-jun tortures and kill OPM, so there's that. maybe some romance or whatevs happens but it's all good.

2. while they stopped 90% of the original conflict, they proceed to accidentally create some more by simply being there. the system declares that they're the "new main character" for the audience, just like how sqq is with svsss. now, new and different plot points start happening to them instead of shen qingqiu! how will they use their knowledge now, with things they can't predict?

2. mid-way, they accidentally put a huge target on their back. unintentionally, they're going against the system's wishes and the whole point of the novel: uncover the hidden plot of PIDW. they're like a virus, a bug, something that isn't supposed to be there, but is. they don't have a system, they exist beyond that; so they can't just be sent back. they're accidentally ruining the story of svsss by not having any of the conflicts mxtx created to occur, and thus must be stopped before they completely flip everything over.

So here’s that, unfinished and unrefined

When Shen Yuan originally woke up in the body of Shen Qingqiu the only thing on his mind was the terrible death he would end up suffering.

This only ended up with him moping for a week before being poked and prodded at by Mu Qingfan, the doctor trying to discern what was wrong with him. Yue Qingyuan was anxiously awaiting his prognosis nearby.

So, Shen Yuan decided there was more important things to do than moping.

He observed the conditions of his peak, fixing the hierarchy problems between his disciples, making sure all lesson plans and materials were properly set up for the hall masters. There was so much to acclimate to within the first month of his possession of his new body.

And his new body was different too. When he first woke up in his barely lucid state all he could remember was pain. Now that was most likely due to the fever and qi deviation he had. But the pain and the confusion had totally let a few things slip.

It wasn’t a sort of “oh where am I, what unusual world is this?” sort of slip. Shen Yuan was an avid novel reader, he had more respect for himself then to be confused when isekai’d. No, it was a very different kind of confusion.

He’d barely been a few sentences into his new life, barely able to sit up and hold his fan when he realized the very major change from this current life to his past one.

He didn’t have a dick.

Luckily the only person there to see the confusion of his lack of a -in his opinion key- body part was Yue Qingyuan.

“You.” The newly transmigrated Shen Qingqiu glared at the man sitting on his bed, his brain only half screwed on. “Why don’t I have a dick?”

The man across from him sighed, looking at Shen Qingqiu with a pitying expression. There was a tense discussion consisting of “I know you’re a man, don’t worry, Shidi…” and “you’ll be able to change your body when we reach higher cultivation” but it had all flown way above Shen Yuan’s head.

Shen Qingqiu’s body was originally born female?!? But he dressed like a man! Now, Shen Yuan had no problem with such a thing, several people accused him of being an egg and he had met quite a few trans people, but why? Why was Shen Qingqiu trans when there was no mention of it in the story. Such a detail had no purpose and Shen Yuan wanted his dick back!

Alas, no matter how much he questioned it he could only endure it. So Shen Qingqiu went on with his life, a little adjustment here and there but everything was mostly peaceful for a month

A. Single. Month.

Now Shen Yuan wasn’t the type of guy that didn’t think periods hurt. His darling mei-mei wouldn’t have allowed that at all. But this was worse than he thought. It felt like someone had a knife to his gut and would be twisting it all day. Honestly he was ready to keel over and die.

But alas, his life went on. He stayed standing through the lessons, making sure to be very careful not to snap at his disciples. It was hard to do that though. So many questions were asked, and he almost felt like the original Shen Qingqiu was an awful teacher because honestly how many things did he never explain.

The second day of it was worse though. He was half way through getting ready, a bit uncomfortable but overall okay, when suddenly it felt like he was hit by a truck. He could have isekai’d right there and started a new life from how much pain he was in.

This led him to hiding out in his bamboo house, laying on the ground.

Which led into a whole bigger mess.

Ming Fan had suddenly entered his house to ask about something or other, saw him lying face down on his flooring, and promptly went screaming for Mu Qingfang.

Which was not how Shen Qingqiu wanted his day to go. The man pushed himself up, hurriedly getting ready so that he wouldn’t look like he was moping about again. After long enough to get dress and slip calmly into his bed with a novel in hand Mu Qingfang shot into his room.

Shen Qingqiu was impressed the doctor could move so fast, he didn’t expect it.

“Mu-Shidi.” He greeted calmly, watching as a few of his disciples, perhaps a hall master or two and a few of the peak lords- including the leader- shuffling in or around the room. “I understand you may be concerned over things, but is such a stampede necessary?”

The doctor looked at him, grabbing his wrist which caused him to drop the book. There was the familiar feeling of qi channeling through him, checking out what was wrong. “Everything seems to be normal, I was told you had collapsed?” Ming Fan was off to the side, nodding his head up and down; tears were threatening to fall in his eyes.

It seems within the short time period of him taking over Shen Qingqiu’s body his disciples had become quite sticky.

“Nonsense, I’ve been okay in my room the whole time.” A few of the people looked around, trying to gauge the truthfulness of his statement.

Mu Qingfang frowned, focusing more on his qi trying to assess what was wrong. The sudden cool feeling traveling up his body made him want to retch, cringing of his arm in the man’s hand. Shen Qingqiu snatched his hand away, grabbing a nearby fan to weild.

“We are done with this, everyone get out!” He had tried not to snap at people for the month, but honestly he was at his wits end. He had ignored the constant fretting, the way his students huddled around him, the side eyes the other fellow peak lords made him. He didn’t want to deal with it anymore at this point

I think something that probably takes up a good 3/4 of my thinking space is like. How does the scum villain timeline work so that shang qinghua dies and transmigrates into pidw as a little babe yet still finishes writing it but shen yuan transmigrates post peak lord inauguration????? like i absolutely cannot come up with an explanation for this at all because it would make sense if they were transmigrated into different worlds within the pidw universe so that's not right either..... of course there's also the usual Space And Time Fuckery but that explanation just feels sooooo lackluster.... IT DOESNT MAKE SENSE

and also what is the criteria to be transmigrated into a certain character????? like do u have to share a last name (i.e. 沈垣 transmigrates into 沈九 / 沈清秋) which means that airplanes last name would be 尚 something.... obviously it's not someone that matches their personality because if that was it i think that shen yuan would have transmigrated into like.. maybe mu qingfang WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN REALLY INGERESTING CAN SOMEONE EXPLORE THAT

maybe it's the character that they hate the most??? because shen yuan blames shen jiu for the way bingge turned out to be and is kinda the reason everything happened so maybe airplane hated shang qinghua??? maybe because he was close to mobei (his dream man) and absolute canon fodder???? but i don't know how realistic that is IDK IDKKKKK

i think another solid argument would be the character that they look most similar to. we know that shen yuan looks Really Really similar to shen jiu which is why sha hualing kidnapped him in the vegetable body to make bing happy and shen yuan has described his former self as "a dispirited pretty boy sitting around waiting to die" (i will expand on this in another post i have so many thoughts on this) which would also make sense for airplane to transmigrate into shang qinghua because dream man = guy who knows dream man = self insert character whether subconscious or otherwise...... i don't know i need someone else's input you guys 😭😭😭

Shen Yuan was a beta all his life so then, now, being the omega Shen Qingqiu who can no longer suppress his secondary gender by Without-a-cure, needs to learn to be an Omega.

The information in the books is damn unclear and it would not be right to go ask for help from disciples or brothels, so he just... Well, he knows that Shang Qinghua is a spy for the demons, and he knows that Mobei Jun is an Omega for his meta knowledge. So he decides to go and threaten Shang Qinghua's ass with exposing him with the other Peak Lords for treason unless he allows him to have private meetings with Mobei Jun.

(At some point, they both reveal themselves as transmigrants? Yes. But not at the beginning for more drama lol Shang Qinghua racking his brains over what the hell Shen Qingqiu the scum villain and HIS KING will talk about in private- )

So, in private meetings with Mobei Jun, Shen Qingqiu humiliates himself with a half-truth: he tells him that I had never experienced anything like omega (after all, the entire CQMS thinks Shen Qingqiu is a beta), and now with Without-a-cure he has stopped taking his suppressants because the damage they were doing to his health, so right now he doesn't know how to do omega basic things like nest, purr, scent, pack behavior...

Mobei Jun agrees to teach him all those omega things; in exchange, Shen Qingqiu will give him more information and those things that Shang Qinghua doesn't have access to, since Shen Qingqiu is, well, Peak Lord of the second most important peak. They make a half-hearted and reluctant agreement, but they are on the same page.

And Mobei Jun teaches him. He teaches him how to fix a nest and the different ways he can use it. How apply blankets properly for softness, or comfort, or space, depends on what suits him. Teaches him to scent with the necessary amount of pheromones on people, objects, pack gifts, puppy gifts- It is a different level for each situation, and it is very necessary that it be respected, because otherwise it could give the wrong message!!

It also teaches purring, different growls, the type of reactions these sounds would have in Alphas or other Omegas. Also what kind of fabrics or robes are more comfortable to wear closer to the heat, what herbs to avoid, what kinds of things might not help him, what types of foods to stock up on for those occasions.

There is a lot of monosyllabic talk, a lot of directions and teachings, and Mobei Jun is not really the type to talk a lot, but neither is Shen Qingqiu, so unless necessary, they won't say much that is not so very important. They drink tea (iced) and they always end their secret meetings by scenting their wrists. It's a habit. Mobei Jun's omega scent is clear like ginger-mint and somewhat spicy, but it doesn't smell demonic itself, then it can go unnoticed.

The change in Shen Qingqiu's Omega behavior is noticeable, not only among the now very spoiled puppy disciples, but among the Peak Lords. Mu Qingfang is glad that Shen Qingqiu is finally accepting being part of the pack, scenting them, giving them scented gifts for their own common spaces. Alphas and betas do not necessarily nest, but in their homes they often have things with the aromas of their packs, giving shape to their home.

There is only one notable difference. Mobei Jun, of course, has taught his omega knowledge biased by his demonic family teaching. So, Shen Qingqiu finds himself... biting.

He bites his disciples' cheeks, he bites their little hands when he comes to scent them. It is easier to give them little bites, so they will only laugh or blush.

He bites Liu Qingge's cheek, one day the Alpha gets really close to him sniffing the clear scent of Mobei Jun on him, asking who is. In defense of Shen Qingqiu, he became nervous!!! And Liu Qingge stepped away as if he had been set on fire, walking away like a penguin.

Randomly bites Mu Qingfang's hands when he is checking him out by Without-a-cure, little bites on his fingers, on his knuckles. Mu Qingfang blushes, steps back, and quickly notes down the reactions. Pff. As if it wasn't normal for Omegas to bite and lick their packs!! Now they will tell that Omegas should not court their Alphas by proving they can kill them in a fight only to decide not to! Of course Binghe's harem didn't work like that, but those were female Omegas! He was a male Omega, that would make the difference, wouldn't it?

So, just, Shen Qingqiu is there, gifting his packs with things with his scent, purring when some Alpha around him is stressed, biting hands, wrists, cheeks. He shamelessly sits close to anyone and drenches them with his scent. He's much more tactile with everyone. He makes comfortable public-nesting spaces in gardens where he invites his youngest disciples (and Binghe, because how could he deprive Binghe of those experiences?! The poor boy is always hungry for affection, hugs, pats and bites more than any other disciple) to snuggle with him while purring and playing some music, just as Mobei Jun had explained that Omegas did with their pups so they could relax after long days-

(The other Peak Lords don't know if Shen Qingqiu has gone mad or is trying to court them all. They also don't want to risk asking and ruining whatever's going on.)

(Amidst all this, and instinctively, both Mobei Jun and Shen Qingqiu begin to see and feel like a pack. They give each other scented blankets, their scents are in their respective nests. There are new jewels among Shen Qingqiu's hair accessories, and new necklaces hanging over Mobei Jun's open necklines. They are a pack. Family of some strange and accidentally acquired kind. Even Shen Qingqiu relaxes in Mobei Jun's nest once while waiting for him due to an urgency among the rebellious demons - which almost causes Shang Qinghua to almost have a qi deviation when he sees him, comfortable in his king's nest just reading.)

(At some point, Shang Qinghua and Shen Qingqiu reveal themselves to be transmigrants- and Shang Qinghua is laughing his fucking shit off, because now he has the explanation of everything, and he's definitely not going to tell him that the normal omega mode of demons is the omega-courtship-family mode of humans. Nope. He'll let Cucumber-bro figure it out for himself.)

There was no reason for any of that to sound charming, and yet, Mu Qingfang was entirely charmed.  “The situation isn’t that dire,” he said, feeling a truly ridiculous amount of affection for no reason.  “I can’t imagine it would actually give you much trouble, Shang-shixiong.”

“My capabilities are beyond your imagination,” Shang Qinghua intoned solemnly.  “And by that, I mean they’re bad.”

“Well,” Mu Qingfang said thoughtfully.  “If you feel that strongly about it...”

Renegade 2023 Typeset Exchange: Regardless of the Hardships by Ehann

When I picked up a pinch-hit for @admiraltypress in this year's @renegadepublishing typeset exchange, and saw this SVSS fic on the list, it was JUST a few days after one of my fellow Renegade discord members has shared some really great public domain illustrations, and I knew exactly what I wanted to use for this one. I'm pretty happy with how the bamboo theme turned out!

Regardless of the Hardships is a canonverse AU where Shen Yuan transmigrated into the body of Mu Qingfang, peak lord of Qian Cao peak, instead. I've only read a smattering of SVSS fic so far, and this slow-burn was a fun one to dive into!

And my favourite silly little detail in all of my recent typesets is the post-it note on the summary page, pulled from the tags. (I'd stuck it in on a whim right before I closed the file to go off and do other things, and promptly forgot all about it. When I came back and saw it again, I was entertained all out of proportion to the situation. Sometimes I'm easily amused.)

for this fic, the concept is that when shen yuan transmigrates into shen qingqiu, he takes over the OGs body but not his soul. therefore ergo, shen qingqiu is gone, but his daemon is still there. shen yuan reluctantly makes a deal with the og scum villain's daemon—xiu ya won't turn him in for the body snatching if shen yuan works on finding a way to resurrect shen qingqiu. shen yuan's own soul is very excited to suddenly have a body of her own AND a bonus brother.

Shen Yuan returns to the world of the living with a scream.  Not his own, as it turns out. He awakens laying in bed, something warm and soft and weighty laying in his chest. There’s a soft thump thump thump that beats in time with his heart. For a moment, he feels perfectly at peace—like the best ASMR ever, sending tingles through his whole body and making every muscle relax.  That’s when the screaming starts.  Shen Yuan shoots up and instantly regrets it. The weight on his chest goes flying off with a discontented noise, and the room spins around him. He’s caught between a need to get up, to find and soothe the source of the sound, and an arresting vertigo that steals the air from his lungs. The result is him flailing half way out of bed in a tangle of—silk?  Two large, firm hands catch him around the shoulders.  “Shidi, please, stay in bed. Everything will be alright. I’ve called for Mu Qingfang. A-Su is doing what she can. Just stay still.”  Shen Yuan doesn’t recognize the latter name, but the former pings something in the back of his mind. He looks up blearily as those hands gently press him back into the mattress.  The man leaning over him has a broad, handsome face that, combined with the dark eyes and gentle, worried crease to his brow, immediately puts Shen Yuan in mind of his older brothers. He allows this to be his excuse for folding right away, letting himself be manhandled back into bed even as half of his brain is clawing for him to move, to help. He looks over the man’s shoulder, searching for the source of the agonized screaming. It sounds like someone is being murdered. What he finds is a sight his mind can’t fully comprehend. There is a large dog in a corner of the room with its paw holding something down. The thing under its paw is a shifting mass, leaking strange golden dust. One moment there is fur, then feathers, then scales. It screams all the while.  “What’s wrong with him?” Shen Yuan asks blankly.  “I’m not sure,” the man says, “but we are going to fix it.” His eyes look sad.  There is a little scrabbling noise, barely audible over the creature in the corner’s yelling. A fluffy white cat jumps onto the mattress and climbs up onto Shen Yuan’s chest.  “Ah,” he says, and his hands instinctively come up around her. She must be what he accidentally flung away before.  She makes a sleepy grumble and gets comfortable. Shen Yuan finds his energy and his ability to comprehend his surroundings fading rapidly, now that she is there, warm and solid in his arms. He bats away the human hand that reaches for his wrist absently.  “Xiao Jiu, that—”  The man next to the bed looks strangely horrified as he drifts off. Shen Yuan has no idea who he was talking to.

I was cooking up some sort of an au, when you somehow came to mind and then i ended up with two ideas of you as a transmigrator:

1. A transmigrator with a system-assigned mission to help Binghe woo Shizun.

2. A transmigrator who is Qian cao peak disciple. Like... There's a lot here, I suppose, with you having to address Shizun as something that's not Shizun (shibo?). But then what if you transmigrate right around the time he gets without-a-cure?? Idk where I wanna go with that line of thought but I am of the opinion that you would somehow wriggle your way out into getting Mu Qingfang to somehow allow you to do the meridian cleansing somehow?? you accompany him to missions to make sure he's got medical help at hand?? And ofc that paved road is a sure shot ticket to rivalry with Binghe, so...

JDUDJDHFH ?? I can't believe I'm so down bad for this man that other people have to intervene and create scenarios where I can be close to him

But yeah if I was shizuns private nurse.. shibo you don't understand, I can't clear your meridians until I perform a 20 minute long prostate exam first... and I need to do another one afterwards too..
