Rereading the sugar baby AU, it only now occurs to me to question the assumption that Kon only knows "absolute kiddie-level basics" of math and science considering what he says right before about being programmed by grad students + the TTK stuff he failed to mention. It feels like there could definitely be an xkcd geologists comic type situation with Kon having no idea that the equivalent of an undergrad degree in multiple science fields isn't "basic" and no one actually testing what he knows
thank you for picking up my incredibly subtle "Kon has an extremely skewed view of what other people know/can do and therefore constantly undervalues what HE can do" hints there, friend, lol. Like of fucking COURSE a plethora of Cadmus-level minds are not gonna put ONLY HIGH SCHOOL SCIENCE IN THEIR SUPERMAN, COME ON CANON. I don't CARE that his education got interrupted, fuck if ANY of those scientists knew what was "normal" to be teaching a teenage brain anyway.
"I learned astropsychics in sixth grade, that's a good time to learn astropsychics, right??"
"Totally!"
elsewhere, Kon: well SUPERMAN could just punch this planet-sized problem into a fine paste and SERLING could fix this customized genetic disease Brainiac just unleashed over her coffee break and obviously EVERYONE who's out of kindergarten could solve this transdimensional cipher based in simplified Mandarian so--
Robin!Tim, desperately horny and desperately wishing he'd known Kon was like this BEFORE he was stupid enough to develop a crush on him: please stop talking before I have to climb you like a skyscraper.

Speaking as someone who doesn't read comics and just has the movie to work with, its rather concerning how resistant some people are to showing Miguel even a small amount of sympathy. Like if people aren't hyper sexualizing him they're acting like he's pure evil and didn't make a series of decisions based on very human emotions. I'm not trying to justify how he treats Miles, I love Miles and want him to succeed (pretty sure he and Miguel are gonna have some very emotional stuff in the next movie), but even when discussing Miguel's personal tragedy regarding his family I see people twist it to be "he broke canon to have a life he felt entitled to" which like...how do people misread characters this badly?
ugh i know. this kind of thing frustrates me to NO END!
like, did you watch the movie?
miguel learns from his past mistakes- good or bad- and continues on with that knowledge. going into the transdimensional travel, he knew nothing, and had no idea that him interfering so much in another world would have such catastrophic consequences. but he learned that when the daughter he'd come to love literally dissipates in his arms. with this knowledge, he's doing his goddamn best to keep any other worlds from falling apart because that's what will happen based off of what he's seen and experienced.
and he didn't feel "entitled" to it, he yearned for it. as i've stated before, miguel's family and life growing up with them fucking sucked. all of his family are horrible people (him included in some areas, but that's what makes him so real- he has flaws); they're abusive, manipulative and neglectful. he just wanted to have a normal, HAPPY family.. of course he's going to try and have one in another world.
and don't get me started on the hypersexualization of this man. look, i'm attracted to him too. he's very sexy, but to see that that's the only thing people talk about him for now... to see HOW they sexualize him... it's really saddening. he's a loser and awkward when it comes to emotional things, and especially when it comes to sex... the dude has been with two women sexually in the past... and he wasn't good at it. he's not some dominant sex beast. he's an awkward loser who sucks at rizz. ugh. people get my man wrong constantly

so you've probably seen the news that riverdale ended with the main 4 in an actual, canonical, poly relationship
and that's amazing for a bunch of reasons, including the fact that the number of canon poly relationships on tv are miniscule and also it brings the number of canonically straight main cast members down to 1. Ethel is legitimately the show's token straight representation. love that for her
but to get the full impact of that news, you really also need to know that in order for the polycule to form:
Jughead's transdimensional angel girlfriend has to destroy multiple other timelines to create a new stable timeline for the polycule to live in. timelines destroyed include the one where jughead is immortal and trapped forever in a bunker underneath riverdale, and one where tony and fangs's magical timetravelling gay baby is fighting an evil wizard for control of a train full of evil ghosts
Jughead's magical transdimensional angel girlfriend then returns to the newly created main timeline, and restores the main cast's memories of all the other timelines, which she does by forcing them to watch the show riverdale. That is not a joke or a metaphor she even goes to the trouble to bring a colour tv back to the 1950s so they can watch in colour, except for Clay and Julian, because they did not exist in any of the previous timelines and they're sad about it and refuse to watch a show they're not in.
(Well, Julian technically did exist in the original timeline, but only as a ghost possessing a haunted doll, which doesn't really count)
(Also for some reason as well as the main cast, she makes dilton doily watch it, despite his only contributions to the show being a) dying as a human sacrifice in the og timeline, b) trying to blow up the planet and then dying because of it in the rivervale timeline, and c) gay kevin telling people he has the biggest dick in the 1950s tlmeline, and honestly, I feel like it would be kinder to just not show him any of that)
(ethel does not get to watch riverdale, because she did the only sensible thing any riverdale character has ever done and fucked off to a normal town to have an actual life, because as well as being the token straight character, she's also the token sane one)
After watching Riverdale, all of the main cast except Jughead and Betty decide it sucks and they hate it, and ask tabby to rewipe their memories and only give them the cute bits and not all the serial killers and shit, because the writers have run out of time for subtle metaphors and they weren't sure the audience had fully grasped that the entirely last season of the show is a weird metacommentary on the criticisms people have of the show riverdale so they're just straight up going to have archie andrews look straight to camera and say that the show should have been more like the comics
also I have no idea how only showing them the happy bits works, because that removes 90% of the entire plot so I assume they just have a bunch of completely out of context sex scenes and meals at the diner and nothing else. possibly also some musical numbers, idk if I'd count those as happy memories personally
Betty and Jug chose to keep their memories of the Gargoyle King and Betty's 2 long-lost secret gay serial killer brothers because they're edgy (and also because the writers are annoyed at all the people who say the show should be more like the comics, so they have the smartest characters say they liked the actually and everyone else is being a wimp about all the serial killers, because again, we have run out of time for subtlety)
Having had his memories restored, Jug's like "oh hi tabitha, my secret transdimensional angel girlfriend, I haven't seen you for months, I've really missed you. I'm so glad you're you're back. i love you so much"
And she responds by telling him that she'd chosen to write herself out of the timeline when she fixed in, and she has to return to the great big diner in the sky (not a joke, heaven is a diner in the riverdale universe and, it is heavily implied, also in our universe, so that's something to look forward to), so she freezes time halfway through kissing him and just nopes out of time and space. which is also how I would handle all break ups if I had angel powers tbh
since jug is now single, and all 4 of them just got multiple timeline's worth of fucking one another mainlined straight into their brains, the main 4 decide to all start dating
(they are probably inspired to do this in part by betty's sister, who in the new timeline is a burlesque performer who's stage name is Polly Amorous)
As far as I can tell from the last episode, they tell gay kevin about this and literally no one else, for reasons known only to themselves
also genuinely can't tell if this was the writers wanting a poly relationship for them, or if they just couldn't be bothered with the internet slap fights that would have followed them picking individual monogomous ships to be endgame
they also, hilariously, refuse to say that archie and jug are dating, I assume due to network restrictions, despite archie being canonically bi at this point, so betty's just like 'well sometimes I go to veronica's and we fuck, and the boys do... something we're not going to talk about'
the final episode of the show is a flash forward where as a now old betty is dying, jughead's ghost shows her memories of their teens, in which it's reveal that she has just straight up forgotten about being in a poly relationship
literally she looks at her teen self and is like "wow, I seem weirdly close to veroica jughead and archie" and Jug's ghost has to be like "because we were dating. how do you not remember that we were dating? what the hell? did I mean nothing to you?!"
also old betty specifically seeks out reggie and is like "hey you know how me and you dated, and you and veronica were together for years in multiple timelines, and you archie keep declaring your undying love for one another and nearly fucking, well we're all dating and we specifically decided not to invite you, sucks to be you" and walks away and I have no idea why she did it. justice for reggie
anyway RIP to the greatest television show ever made, it was so gay and so deranged and so meta, and there really will never be anything quite like it again
#reggie never did anything wrong in his life ever#yes including that time he was a drug dealer#riverdale#truely The show of all time#i want the i'm a weirdo speech on engraved on my tombstone#people look at me like i'm insane when I tell them it's all a metaphor#but seriously#it's all metaphors all the way down#people ask me a lot what riverdale is about#and now that it's ended#i can officially confirm#cosmic horror#riverdale is cosmic horror#and i'm not even joking about that#the final 2 seasons of the show are about characters gaining meta knowledge of the story they're in and going insane because of it#but who are the old gods in this cosmology you may be asking?#you#you are#the audience

dametameta dynamic in 21 + 3 different aus teeny and I have developed. why?? idk it was just fun. also I'm insane
Pokemon: childhood friends that had a major falling out as teens as a result of an incident that caused the loss of DMK's eye. MK went on to become the Indigo Plateau champion while DMK got wrapped up in Team Rocket grunt work. DMK fell on hard times when his faction of Rocket was dissolved and left him unemployed. in a desperate and poorly thought out attempt at making money from ransom I guess, DMK kidnaps the Indigo champion, not knowing his true identity until he has him tied up in his apartment. This is their reunion after like 15 years apart
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: The same except MK is magicked away to PMD world before the kidnapping, with DMK following sometime after. MK keeps his identity hidden from DMK out of desire to "start over" and mend their friendship, but it leads to trouble
SCP: MK is the leader of MTF Iota-8 ("Meta Knights") and DMK is a transdimensional shapeshifter employed by the Foundation as a member of MK's squad. MK is a human with anomalous super healing as a result of a scip incident and DMK "respawns" from his native mirror dimension whenever he suffers mortal harm, making them both prime candidates for dealing with especially dangerous scips. DMK is kind of a flirt but MK is like anomaly-racist and rather cold with him. He gets better though
LISA The Painful: MK is a stealth trans man living in isolation and DMK is a pathetic junkie that broke into his home looking for drugs. They become unlikely friends and eventually set out in search of an antidote after DMK takes Joy on a bad day
The Legend of Zelda: MK is Sheikah and DMK is a member of the Yiga clan. DMK joined the clan out of disillusionment with the Sheikah/humanity as a whole - he gets pushed around and picked on a lot and doesn't really get along with the other Yiga, but is scared to leave because of their reputation with deserters. MK, who DMK formed a friendly rivalry turned unlikely friendship with, aids in his escape from the clan after which they continue to travel together
Final Fantasy 14: MK, tenth son in a family of moon keepers, is a gladitorial champion turned Paladin that joins the Scions and other WoLs in A Realm Reborn. DMK is an ex-Nunh turned ex-criminal turned ex-rogue sun seeker with a comically depressing life that joins the crew in Heavensward after becoming a Dark Knight. They butt heads, a lot, but have an uncanny synergy despite it that makes them the designated party tanks for (almost) the entire story
Splatoon: Both Octolings that once served in the Octarian army, now living in Inkopolis. DMK, already kind of lazy and self serving, adapted to the fun-loving Inkling lifestyle pretty quickly, but MK, an ex-elite, has trouble moving on and adjusting. MK is an inkbrush/splatana wiper main and DMK is an octobrush/splatana stamper main
mostly D&D based with some creative liberties: Both tieflings cursed in different ways by the same god of violence and hedonism. MK, a paladin whose god was usurped by Mr. Murder, now forced to entertain his violent whims else he suffers painful Side Effects. DMK unknowingly picked up a bloodthirsty sword that turns him into a mindless killing machine if he doesn't cut enough people with it. They along with a few others also affected by Mr. Murder's meddling band together to get revenge
demon: MK is a demon hunting battle priest and DMK is a centuries old incubus that seduces him. DMK's demonic influence starts turning MK into one of his kind, but MK can't get rid of DMK because he's clingy due to a "recent" break up with his angel bf. over time MK accepts DMK's presence and they eventually develop a proper healthy relationship
monster: MK is a monster hunter and DMK is the bat-like beast that he's constantly trying to stop from eating everyone's sheep. When MK is mortally wounded in a battle with another monster, DMK reluctantly saves his life by sealing the wound with a sort of... sticky venom, that has the unfortunate side effect of turning MK into a monster himself
different flavour of monster: MK is a vampire hunter recently inflicted with lycanthropy and DMK is a vampire. when DMK is caught in MK's house (looking for a snack) the night of his first transformation, MK uncontrollably attacks him and literally rips him to pieces. out of guilt, MK allows DMK to feed on him the next day, starting off an uneasy but mutually beneficial arrangement
basic ass fantasy: MK is captain of the royal guard and DMK is a changeling fairy that wants his name for nefarious purposes. DMK pesters him constantly but MK is too smart for his fey bullshit, making him more of a minor nuisance than a real threat
dark fantasy soulsborne aesthetic kind of thing?: MK is a demon/monster hunter of sorts, trying to take down a particularly powerful evil priest, and DMK is another wandering hunter with another cursed sword that starts eating him alive if he doesn't give it enough blood. can you tell I like the evil sword thing for DMK? They first meet under... unfortunate circumstances, but despite their adverse relationship, they eventually team up to save someone from the aforementioned priest
cyberpunk: both orphaned as young children from different incidents of faction violence, MK grew up on the streets with a group of friends/found family and now does bounty hunting/mercenary work with them, while DMK was taken in by a faction leader and raised as his own to eventually inherit his underground empire. after a botched assassination attempt on DMK, DMK gets dear old dad to spare MK's life and have him indentured as a bodyguard instead because he thought it was really hot how he tried to kill him
fish: MK is a marine biologist that periodically runs into DMK, a bull shark merman, while doing field work. one day while out at sea, a storm flips his boat leaving him to drown in the rough waters if not for DMK's interference. DMK saves him by turning him into one of his own... oh i guess that's another thing we like huh
space: MK is of an endangered alien species, disguised as a human living on a large space station to observe, study, and live in safety. DMK is his assigned bunk mate and uh... he's just kind of a guy idk it's been a while since we touched this one
sweet home inspired not-zombie monster apocalypse kind of thing: they are apartment neighbours, DMK a single dad and MK often hosting his kid cousin. they don't get along because DMK plays loud music and stomps around in his fuckass boots, but their kids are friends so they put up with each other. they eventually find common ground and become friends themselves, even risking their lives for each other and their kids when the monster shit starts happening
urban fantasy devi magi: in a world with humans, magi (gifted humans with magic abilities), and devi (monstrous invaders that settled into the world long ago), they're on a team of hunters that take care of dangerous devi. DMK is the newest member and sole human on the team and MK is half devi. they had worked together previously, terminating in an incident where MK left DMK behind to pursue a target, resulting in the loss of DMK's eye, so there's a bit of a grudge present
western: MK is sheriff of a small desert town, previously leader of a gang of misguided bandits until changing their priorities to helping others, DMK is a monster hunting cowboy that left his simple farm life in search of thrills. DMK stops in town and embarrasses MK during an attack by a monster of the week, setting off a petty rivalry
evil murder god alien sex club: MK works at the titular club trying to raise money to take care of a deathly ill family member, and DMK is a lonely loser with a lot of inheritance money to blow that spends a lot of time at the bar and paying for MK's attention. after finding out MK's situation, DMK tries to help get him out, but the murder god in the basement running the place isn't interested in letting go any employees
farming sim! yay!: MK is the town blacksmith and DMK owns a ranch. they probably have some weird grudge with each other and sexual tension you know how it is. this au is like a week old gimme a break
isolated dynamics that don't really have a whole au to go with them:
1: DMK is a woodsman living in an isolated cabin off the grid, hiding from conviction for a murder he may or may not be responsible for, MK is grievously injured in the woods and taken in by DMK while he recovers. they develop an intimate relationship, but things start to get weird as MK starts to recover and hears about an escaped convict on the radio
2: MK is a city boy with an upper class family and DMK is a simple farm boy living with his aging mother. MK, bored with his life, would sneak out as a teen and get into tussles with DMK for kicks. after a long absence due to moving away, MK, as an adult, now sneaks out to go hunting. they reunite when DMK discovers him after he is poisoned and paralyzed, taking him home to help him recover
3: sort of kirby canon headcanon backstory swap. DMK is adopted by an upper class family and grows up pampered and educated and scrawny. MK grew up feral, never made any friends, retained his more animalistic traits and now lives in a shack in the woods. MK travels to the mirror world to beat up DMK just for existing and sheltered DMK finds the beatdown so shocking and impressive and weirdly hot that he becomes fixated on besting MK in battle to get his attention/approval
common themes:
some kind of rivalry, grudge, or opposition, turned attraction turned romance (duh) usually with ~History~
working together against a common enemy despite not really getting along
DMK evil sword
MK usually responsible for DMK's eye
MK usually some kind of authority or upper class man with a secret rebellious wild side or past
DMK usually lower class, often a farm boy, sometimes just a fucking loser
DMK being some kind of monster/anomaly and targeting MK
one being injured or down on their luck and being taken care of
MK attacks DMK and DMK thinks it's hot because he's a freak

Kind of a reupload? Since I’ve gone back to working from home as a commission artist I am getting back to my comic. Right now it’s up on Patreon only, but I’m making progress on it. XD I decided for now it’s pencil until I get to the end of each chapter and I’ll figure out how to make the time to color each page. I’m just really excited because this is the story I’ve wanted to create for at least 12 years and just had the courage to make a reality. So people, don’t be scared, just make your thing!
This first story is about technomancer Justin Sandinson as he's wrangled into a dangerous scavenging job with the risk of violent transdimensional robot encounters, but it turns into a spirit world mystery that his enthusiastic magic-scientist cousin Mahri is determined to solve. http://patreon.com/JLBriere

ANOTHER EARTH, FILE 001 – BATMAN
Circa 1996-2003 – ‘BRUCE WAYNE’S TERRIBLE HORRIBLE NO-GOOD VERY BAD DECADE’
The turn of the century is bad for everybody in a world where there’s a new catastrophe every week, but for Batman especially, this is a rough stretch. To this point, all of the despotic alien dictators and insane transdimensional imps have been haranguing Superman, up the coast in Metropolis, But in 1996, the Thanagarian Invasion of Earth occurs, and the Justice League is shaken to is very core. In 1997, Grayson trades up to Nightwing, and Bruce takes on a new Robin, the young Jason Todd, who is definitely going to be fine don’t worry about it.
This'un is a doozy, truly comic-tier explanation below the cut.
In 1998, shit hits the fan for Batman specifically. Surprise! The Joker kills Jason Todd while perpetrating a scheme outside of the US, right as Bruce and Jason are on the cusp of truly bonding as father and son. A couple months later, the Joker reappears in Gotham and cripples Barbara Gordon, then-Batgirl and also the daughter of Commissioner James Gordon, one of Batman’s staunchest allies. The Joker’s sudden and somewhat inexplicable slide from dangerous, but goofy, crime gimmicks into genuine stochastic terrorism sets off a chain reaction amongst Gotham’s gallery of rogues. In 1999, at around the one-year-mark of Jason’s death, Tim Drake convinces Bruce to accept him as the new Robin after reverse-engineering Batman’s secret identity.
And in 2000, a new and dangerous foe emerges to challenge Batman, self-styled as Batman’s greatest foe – his bane, if you will. It’s Bane. And Bane breaks the bat. During Bruce’s recovery period, he selects Azrael to fill in for him. Azrael, as an unstable zealot at the best of times, ultimately defeats Bane but also does real damage to Bruce’s personal sphere; between the death of Robin II and Bruce choosing to keep his infirmity a secret from his coworkers in the Justice League and subsequent confusion around just who was in the bat-suit during this period, Batman’s reputation takes a substantial black eye at every level, and Bruce starts to cut himself off from friends and family.
In 2002, a massive earthquake hits the United States’ eastern seaboard, with the epicenter just barely offshore of Gotham City. The city is plunged into absolute chaos due to extreme structural damage to a huge portion of Gotham’s downtown area; the island on which most of the city is built is cut off from the mainland, and the federal government evacuates about 75% of Gotham’s civilian population. The remaining 25% of civilians are basically left to die, as the government declares Gotham City a federal No-Man’s Land, locking down its border. Warring supervillain factions and desperate militarized police forces are eventually brought to heel… by Bane, who takes over Gotham in the confusion.
Bruce returns to Gotham with Catwoman and finally defeats Bane personally, bringing an expanded Bat-Family to bear and restoring his public image. He also internalizes, finally, the value of relying on other people. He takes a liking to the new Batgirl who emerges during this trial, Cassandra Cain, and formally establishes ties to Stephanie Brown (briefly Robin, currently Spoiler). Simultaneously, Lex Luthor leverages a metric fuck-ton of political influence to get Gotham’s borders reopened, using the positive publicity to get a pardon of past crimes from the President and undetake a Senatorial campaign.
The suit reflects how utterly fucked Batman’s life is during this period of time. Battered, frayed, with armor plating literally strapped on where old pieces have been damaged or torn off. The tech boom resulting from the Thanagarian Invasion has begun to hit every layer of civilian life at this point, which means villains are starting to get more and crazier gadgets and Batman is forced to keep up. Stylistically it takes inspiration from late-80s/early-90s Batman suits; it’s also the debut of my solution to the costume boyshorts ‘problem’ (I don’t necessarily think it’s a problem, mind you) – Thigh highs!

The way I want to start writing the crossover comic so bad where my TMNT S/Is get displaced into the different universes bc each Donnie simultaneously decided to build a transdimensional portal to possibly discover alternate universes and it causes them all to malfunction at the same time. And. Joce is the one who gets caught up in it. And each version of her ends up in a different world that isn’t her own. It’s still New York. Leo, Mikey, Donnie, Raph, Splinter, April and Casey are still there. But it isn’t the same versions of New York or her family.
But also I want to write her bonding with these different versions of them bc ough. OUGH. I already have plans for hurt/comfort about it. Because each version of Joce misses her boys, and the boys miss their version of Joce.
But no matter how different they might be in each universe, it’s still them. So they do bond still.
Also for reference which Joce ends up where:
1987 Joce ends up in the 2012 universe
2003 Joce ends up in the Rise universe
2012 Joce ends up in the 2003 universe
Rise Joce ends up in the 1987 universe
#I also have a really sweet moment planned between 2003 Raph and 2012 Joce#I also need to come up with a name for it#can’t be turtles in time that’s taken LMAO#I’m just sticking with the cartoons tbh it’s easier#but I might do a b plot with the movie versions

concept for some new ocs inspired by the angel comic:
a transdimensional being understood to humans as an "Angel" is summoned by a cult who wants to Eat God and escapes, but cannot return to their home realm. they are given shelter by a shitty wizard who is also in hiding because magic is illegal. the angel and the wizard become friends. somewhere along the way the angel also probably kisses a demon but i haven't figured out that far yet.
