This is a reminder to wash your binder.
Now that I have your attention, you may be asking "how do I wash a binder?" Well, first of all, you're going to check and see if the brand you've got is machine washable. Chances are that it's not. If its not, then you're going to have to hand-wash the thing.
The three main things you're going to need is hot water, a bucket (or a plugged sink), and some soap (such as a small amount of liquid laundry detergent). Soak the binder in hot water and detergent. Make sure to vigorously rub the fabric against itself, as a big part of cleaning something is about the friction. Once you're done with that, rinse out the binder until the water runs clear. Ring out the excess water, then hang the binder somewhere to air-dry.
Most binders cannot be put in a dryer, as they are prone to shrinking in the wash. This will cause the binder to be unsafe to be worn.
For reputable binders online, check out sites like Underworks, Shapeshifters, Armor Sensory, and Spectrum Outfitters.

chest binding psa
guys srsly be safe with binding your chest, most binders when bought new come with care instructions specific to the binder and the company but just generally make sure to be careful and if ur currently wearing one just take a moment to reflect and make sure you haven't been wearing it for over about 8 hours (give or take) take it from me, ive nearly broken my ribs while binding and it SUCKS, and while my dysphoria isn't too severe safety should come first, just be aware that binding can go wrong sometime and PLEASE BUY FROM A REPUTABLE COMPANY because if a binder isn't made right it can potentially be more dangerous than a well made binder

Binder Safety Guide
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Binders are wonderful, transformative things! BUT there are a lot of things to consider and prep yourself for if you want to wear a binder safely. So here's a quick guide on the top 10 tips for binder safety.
Your health is paramount and wearing a binder incorrectly can really damage your skin, and lead to breathing problems or back pain etc, so please listen to your body, and if it hurts, stop. Binders aren't for everyone but their are alternative methods to a flatter chest!
For more tips and guidance on binder safety, check out Point of Pride, Spectrum Outfitters, Amor Binders, Mermaids or my previous post, An Intro to Binders!

I'm transssss, can I have ur old binder?
Tumblr media
Yeah sure. Which one you want?
If I find out ur binding more than eight hours I day I WILL revoke binder privileges.
I know it's hard right now but you know what's harder? Explaining to mom why your rib is broken. Your doctor telling you can't bind or get surgery because of the damage done.
Stay strong, kid.

CAN ANY TRANS PEOPLE RELATE!!?
Do any other trans guys feel dysphoria when they put on their binder because you can see your chest underneath, like it’s not flat and you can see your chest. When I got my binder I was expecting it to be a brilliant thing and it was but idk I have mixed feelings and wanna see if anyone relates

Does anybody have trans tape recommendations that are ACTUALLY hypoallergenic?
I only tried some athletic bandages that was supposed to be hypoallergenic, but I had a severe allergic reaction. Heard good things but was really disappointed.
Help me out please!

I found this video and I thought I’d share. I’m not transmasculine nor do I desire a binder but I feel like this was an incredibly easy and helpful tutorial to follow! Especially if you don’t have easy access to a binder or means of buying one but you also happen to know how to sew!

I've come to the conclusion that binders aren't worth it and I find bras degrading. I won't be wearing anything under my shirt in public if I so choose and if people have a problem with that it's their problem and I'm still not a woman.

some days waking up without a binder hits so much harder and it’s all I think about
some days the idea of a binder is euphoria in itself and my imagination is running wild imagining how amazing it would feel to put it on for the first time
to run my hands down my flat chest and wear a shirt, to go out in public
sometimes I wonder if it would help my crippling social anxiety
I wonder if one of the reasons I’m so anxious is that when I see people they aren’t seeing me back because while this physical weight sits on my chest I’m less me than I could be
the pinned tab of my dream binder sits in my browser for the days that I need to look at it, giving me hope and despair wondering how close and how far the moment is
