Radfems and actual gender dysphoric people had indeed called this. We had said the sudden explosion/rate of transitioners now was like, insane. That perhaps, yeah maybe a lot of this should be gate kept from minors. There's not a lot you can do about adult trenders except push back on the rights they keep trying to, and have eroded.
The people that kept pushing that you didn't have to be dysphoric or be diagnosed as dysphoric to be trans were doing so to capture as many teens and younger adults into falling for the idea they could only be gender non-conforming as a trans identity. To have them fight for their own community only to throw them away and shame them when those same individuals detransitioned. They had one use for the children trying to escape gender roles and misogyny.
Tumblr media
Yep, there are some genuinely well meaning people in the trans community that will be harmed by the actions of the louder shrieking wheels unfortunately.
And while I agree that some of the kids with pronouns aren't dysphoric and generally just terminally online, the recommendation of that bottom comment would have been seen as abuse towards that child. It is not solely on the parents, it is on the doctors that also fear mongered these parents into thinking their child would harm themselves if they did not receive hrt treatment, surgery or puberty blockers. It's on the whole of the community that also stayed quiet and allowed the people that brayed about how this was necessary and how kids need to transition. It's on the medical community and people in positions of power that kept claiming we just needed to do the kind thing.
Check out the thread, it's a pretty interesting read.

Someone anonymously messaged me to tell me that writing about detrans folks makes me a traitor to trans people, because all detrans people want to push conversion therapy on us and forcibly detransition us.
That’s precisely the kind of narrative that ends up pushing detransitioners into the arms of TERFs and the religious far-right.
There’s nothing inherently wrong with detransitioning. Sometimes people realize that transitioning no longer suits them, or never really did. And that’s fine.
When we systematically push them away regardless of their politics, we make people feel like the only places they can get support are among transphobes. That’s not a good thing. Building de/trans solidarity is an critical tool for disarming anti-trans movements.

my heart goes out to people who have been talked out of transitioning and people who have been talked out of detransitioning. having someone else convince you to avoid doing what is in your best interest and increase your comfort and quality of life is always heart breaking and exhausting- no matter what your choice, to transition, or to detransition, that is your choice, and it does not impact other people. you are not a bad person for wanting to do either of these things.

I'm so tired of cis people asking stuff like, "Why would Texas want a list of trans people who legally changed their names?" or "Why would Florida want a list of college students who have seeking gender affirming care? We can't figure it out."
It's eliminationist.
Ken Paxton wants a list of trans people who have changed their name in Texas so he can reverse all of those decisions (and that's the most charitable interpretation). Ron DeSantis wants a list of college students who have sought affirming care so he can force them to detransition.
Oklahoma introduced a bill to forcibly detransition people under the age of 21 (ironically doing what they accuse us of doing, forcing someone to live as the wrong gender). Texas has a new bill that will ban gender affirming care for every Texan of any age and makes it a felony for doctors to provide it. Multiple states either have passed or will pass bills that will ban legal name changes. Some states have slipped in language to anti-drag bills (which are horrific enough on their own) that ban anyone from displaying, presenting, or dressing outside their "biological" gender (one state has language about "DNA gender") in public.
It's about legally and morally mandating trans people out of existence.
Plain and simple. It's about making sure that trans people can not exist. Period. It's not about restrictions, or "think of the children!" It's about eliminating us from public life and then eliminating us from private life so that we have a choice of either die or conform.
When will y'all realize this isn't some wedge issue or a political football that they'll just give up on if they lose an election or two. These are ideologues who are singularly focused. They don't care about the marketplace of ideas. They don't give a shit if they get mocked on lefty Twitter and the late night shows. They only care about one thing: gaining and then wielding power to achieve their goal of eliminating trans people (and then gay people, and then women who don't conform to their gender standards, ect).
If you give them that power they will use it.

No one calls men “they”.
If a man’s presentation is feminine enough, they call him “she”, because they assume he identifies as a woman.
“They” is only used for androgynous women who are perceived as not being female enough. It’s used by people who assume that a woman who doesn’t perform femininity must not identify as a woman.
It’s not progressive, it’s a way of othering women who already feel out of place and misunderstood within the patriarchal system. It’s misogyny hiding under a veneer of kindness and liberal values.

I decided to visit a high-end electronics store today, drawn in by the allure of the latest innovations. What I found was a display of gadgets and gizmos that seemed more concerned with style than substance. The salespeople were all too eager to explain how each device was revolutionary, yet they all seemed to be the same recycled concept with a slightly different casing. I was handed a smart device that promised to simplify my life but was, in reality, just another overcomplicated piece of technology designed to keep me tethered to a never-ending cycle of upgrades. The experience was as empty as the promises of the gadgets themselves. At least it provided a brief escape from the relentless turmoil of my life, even if it was a fleeting one.

College roommate who finds out that I'm trans and threatens to out me unless I let him grope my tits whenever he wants. Eventually that graduates up to giving him blowjobs, to letting him fuck me, letting him cum inside raw. Eventually I get pregnant, am forced to drop out, and get outed anyway.
He says he'll step up and pay for an apartment off campus if I let him show pictures of me to his friends callinge me his girlfriend and i dont have anywhere to go so i let him. Which graduates to dressing how he wants in dresses and skirts, to letting him bring his friends over and "pretending" to be his girlfriend, to forcing me to marry him when the baby is close to due and he threatens to kick me out otherwise.
I do it, and from then on, I'm his chain pregnant dropout wife.

detransition isn't a mark of failure, it's one that shows you were willing to take a huge step to figure out who you are, and you came out the other side learning something from your experience. it's more important to find that out than to spend the rest of your life wondering, and not knowing

why are terfs all like "bodily autonomy!" and then they get pissed at people for trying to transition. seems kinda contradictory almost as if their ideals are built on irrational hatred rather than societal progress

I really love how last commenter is literally proving the question OP had. "hey guys, idk about you but I'm kinda scared to detransition bc --" "YOU'RE EXISTENCE IS A LIE. YOU CANNOT SPEAK ABOUT YOURSELF AS YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE IT HARDER FOR ME TO GET WHAT I WANT. YOU SHOULD JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP BECAUSE YOUR EXPERIENCE DOES NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT SYSTEMIC ISSUES AND SHOULD NOT BE FURTHER EXAMINED."

Wanna be used as a fleshlight soooo bad, just making me bounce on cock completely naked while you're just idly talking to your friend or browsing on your phone. Not even really interested in me, just wanting to get off and taping my mouth shut so my loud whore moans don't interrupt. I wanna be an item to use not a person
