honestly, one of my biggest gripes with c3 is that at multiple junctures it felt like it was very likely to develop a more tragic narrative and, with the exception of FCG's death (which was a unique situation for more than one reason) it has not once actually followed through on being tragic. like, this is particularly about laudna's story getting tied up in a little bow and her and imogen's breakup lasting approximately 24 hours in-game. but because it's felt like every (juicy and potentially highly rewarding) tragic narrative thread has been undercut or cut short so far, i find myself looking forward to the next episode with a sort of trepidation that this will happen again. there is immense earned and interesting tragic potential to imogen being possessed by predathos. but at this point, i really do lack faith that the story will follow through, and i'll be left feeling unsatisfied by a pulled punch yet again

we don’t acknowledge enough how dee used to be a pageant winner when she was a kid and how much damage it did to her. she worked her ass off and got recognition for being pretty and talented at a young age and it was the only source of self esteem she could garner in a family that constantly berated and talked down to her. she sought after that external approval because it was the only way she could prove everyone around her wrong. her dream of being a performer didn’t come from a self-aggrandizing delusion— she genuinely showed a lot of potential when she was younger. but she went through an unflattering puberty and her spinal condition got worse and that natural talent she had as a kid plateaued way too early. the “former gifted kid” dilemma. she slowly lost the thing that promised her that she was good, but she was so desperate to keep holding onto it that she tried anyway. again and again and again no matter how much people made fun of her because it was always about proving them wrong. but after a while she couldn’t jump anymore without anticipating the way it feels when she hits the ground face first. self-sabotage became her way out, choosing to rather live in the fantasy of her own unrealized potential and blaming those around her for her lack of success, than having tried and crashed again. she’d rather buy lottery tickets over and over and never scratch off the numbers than to see that she lost. that self-sabotaging behavior bled into other aspects of her life too, from friendships to relationships to therapy. her own short lived success is what made her grow into embodying the cycle of failure.

idk maybe i'm living on the whole other side of the internet and there're actually people out there who didn't like s2 cause of lack of happy endings, but as for now i saw way more complaints about so called "tragedy" feeling just cheap and shallow. if even talking about the "tragic" side of the s2 honestly

and what's so tragic about forgiving everyone around you anyway?

to be honest, if to think about it, i see no actual tragedy in s2. s1 was tragic, it was tragic all the way through it, in every episode, it was misfortune everywhere and noone won in the end, in slightest. s2? everyone kinda won, just with minor inconveniences

but honestly, i was waiting for the s2 for three years cause i expected and WANTED it to HURT me. after how brutally s1 beated the shit out of me emotionally and mentally, i was really looking forward for the s2 to double down on that. and than it just bitch slapped me? not even with a full force? and managed to even miss my face and just slapped my shoulder? the only thing that hurt is how emotionless was the whole experience

most of this final battle, he’s not even himself. he’s fused with an abuser, he’s fighting alone, and he has no idea where his comrades are. THEN the absolute worst of his backstory is revealed, AND THEN he gets no time to react to this bombshell before getting obliterated on his BIRTHDAY!

THEN his body gets taken over for the 100th TIME!!! and his final moments are spent in a vestige world, where he doesn’t confront his groomer, doesn’t get to speak to his grandma, manages one punch to AFO, and then he dies.
