The semester was finally over for you and you found yourself happily living with Wanda during the break. Just cause it was over for you doesn't mean she gets much of a break though. She's been working hard on next semester's classes. You were happy to be taking another class with her; abnormal developmental psychology. You weren't thinking about that though or much of anything at the moment as Wanda had let you crawl into her lap as she sat at her desk.

Wanda’s fingers never stopped moving, typing away as she worked through lesson plans and student evaluations. You had found comfort curled up in her lap, your head resting against her chest while she absentmindedly traced soothing patterns down your back. The rhythmic sound of her keystrokes mixed with the occasional sip of coffee created a lull that left you feeling weightless, barely clinging to wakefulness.

Then, the sudden ring of her phone jolted you, pulling you out of your relaxed haze. Your body tensed instinctively, your breath hitching as you tried to ground yourself.

“Oh, Malyshka, shh, it’s okay, you’re safe,” Wanda murmured, pressing a kiss to the top of your head as she reached for her phone. Her voice was soft, soothing, instantly pulling you back into the warmth of her embrace.

She answered without checking the caller ID, her fingers gently combing through your hair as she spoke. “Hello?”

A familiar voice came through the speaker, deep and matter-of-fact. “Wanda. Glad I caught you.”

You could practically hear the smirk in his voice. Wanda rolled her eyes, though there was no real annoyance behind it. “Hello to you too, Stephen,” she replied, her tone playfully dry.

Dr. Strange was well-known on campus—not just for being a renowned neurosurgeon before shifting to academia, but also for his sharp wit and no-nonsense approach to teaching. He and Wanda had developed a rapport over the years, exchanging insights on their respective fields, often challenging each other’s perspectives.

“I wanted to run something by you. I know you're teaching Abnormal Developmental Psych next semester, and I have a few students from my Neurophysiology class who might benefit from a bit of cross-discipline collaboration.”

Wanda hummed thoughtfully, shifting slightly in her seat. You barely registered the movement, already sinking back into the warmth of her arms.

“That could be interesting,” she mused, her fingers still absently rubbing small circles into your back. “What kind of collaboration are we talking about?”

“Guest lectures, joint discussions—maybe even a case study or two.”

You were barely listening now, your body melting further into her as your breathing slowed. The steady rise and fall of her chest, the soft vibrations of her voice against your cheek, the warmth of her touch—it was pulling you under, lulling you back toward sleep.

You barely registered her saying, “I’d have to look at my schedule, but I like the idea.”

Dr. Strange said something else, but it was distant, unimportant. Your eyelids grew heavier, your grip on awareness slipping.

Wanda’s voice softened, as if sensing how close you were to sleep. “I’ll email you later, Stephen. I have something very important in my arms right now.”

There was a brief pause before Strange chuckled. “Say no more. Enjoy your break, Wanda.”

“You too,” she murmured, ending the call.

You felt her shift, her arms tightening slightly as she pressed another kiss to your temple. “Sleep, Malyshka,” she whispered, her voice dripping with affection.

And just like that, you let go, drifting into the warmth and safety of her embrace.

Okay but I have been thinking about the practical uses of TPD for LoK since its release (I've listened to the entire anthology like 5 times now) and some of my *thoughts* are a little disorganized but here they are as they come.

Kya watching Lin and Tenzin grow together and become a couple has her DOWN BAD and I would like to write something in the future, maybe a one shot drawing inspiration from this.

Fresh Out the Slammer is so Suyin/Kuvira coded, whether it's platonically or romantic idc but to me it is THEM. Specifically after the show when Kuvira is feeling empty and alone and trying to get back into her old life but she has to accept that it's not going to work and she has to start all over again.

I Can Do it With A Broken Heart- immediately thought of Asami. Not because of her relationship with Mako or Korra but because of the relationship with her dad. That was such a painful moment for her in the series and sometimes I feel like it wasn't shown enough, her grief was never really processed and maybe she struggles a bit in the beginning. Of course Korra helps her through it : )

Kyalin The Alchemy need I say more.

I feel like there's big potential for an angsty Lin-centered one shot inspired by Cassandra. I haven't fully developed this yet but it's brewing.

thanK you aIMee is another one I feel like would work well with Kuvira. I could see an angsty piece about her slowly building up to the events of season 4. I feel like maybe she has some growing resentment over her childhood and maybe that gets taken out on Suyin or just the Beifongs in general.

And for non shits and giggles "Who's Afraid of Little old Me" this is AVATAR KORRA. This song I see in the moment before she takes down Kuvira. Like Kuvira is cocky and is convinced she's already won because she's bested korra multiple times now. And Korra is a force of nature. There's room for a powerful dissonance there between season 3 where she as the Avatar is a target. Zaheer wants to get rid of the avatar to restore chaos because the Avatar is too powerful. Korra doesn't understand this, she would never use her powers for evil, she would never use them to hurt people... until she has to. She IS the Avatar, she is the strongest being in the world, and part of her healing process is claiming that power. I can see a conversation going something like this:.

Korra: I don't get it, Asami. It's like no matter what I do, how many times I show these people I'm on their side... someone is always out to get me. It's like they're afraid of me or something.

Asami: Korra, you are the Avatar. The only thing standing between them and their fucked-up ideal "world", is you.

Korra: I don't want people to be scared of me, I want them to feel safe. To feel like I'm an ally.

Asami: and you are, but... I don't know, Korra. Maybe it's not all bad if some people fear you. If Kuvira, or Zaheer had been more afraid maybe... maybe things would've turned out differently.

And then the bad guy is all "you think you scare me?" And Korra is all

"No, but I should."

The Tortured Poets Department - The Anthology (Taylor Swift) - Dateables Part 2

As promised, here's part 2 - The TPD Anthology collection songs.

Barbatos: COSOSOM

So if you wanna break my cold, cold heart Say you loved me And if you wanna tear my world apart Say you'll always wonder

Like I said, this part of the album was quite hard to choose for.  I feel bad for Barbatos because I definitely think I slacked on his songs, which is surprising to me because album sounds so much more like what I think of for him than most of the others but here we are. The sound of this song in particular, so mellow and melancholy, makes me think of him. It’s got a lot of emotion packed into it but in such short, simple phrases and staying mostly calm; even the bridge is quiet intensity which is how Barbatos lives his life. I think of Barbatos being considered as heartless because he doesn’t show much feeling but it’s so untrue, especially with MC. I imagine that he never speaks up about his feelings for them and that’s why the hardest thing he could ever hear from them is them admitting their own feelings and wondering what could have been. It’s a shot to his heart knowing he could have had them but they’ve moved on and it doesn’t even matter anymore. 

Asmo: imgonnagetyouback

Another Asmo song for sure. It’s sexy, bright, and not a little aggressive. Asmo firmly believes he can have anyone that he wants - everyone out there is his for the taking, whether they know it or not. That includes MC. It doesn’t matter if they play hard to get or show any interest in his brothers, Asmo is confident that he’ll have them by his side by the end of the night. And if that’s not the case? Well Hell hath no fury like a rejected avatar of lust. He can be very petty and spiteful when he feels slighted so he would definitely plan revenge if needed but, even then, he’s thinking about how he can turn this into a fun bedroom situation instead because there are so many better ways to work out those feelings, you know? 

Simeon: The Albatross 

So I crossed my thoughtless heart Spread my wings like a parachute I'm the albatross I swept in at the rescue The devil that you know Looks now more like an angel

This was a song that I considered for a few people but I feel like it fits Simeon’s story so well. Simeon is an angel - he’s supposed to be immune to temptation and to help people find their redemption. He’s known from the beginning that he should be keeping MC’s morality safe and remaining a guiding beacon of light. This becomes especially true once he sees how close she gets to the brothers and Diavolo and Solomon. MC is becoming a threat - being so close with such “bad” beings while also being the most tempting human that Simeon has ever laid eyes on. He knows he should stay away lest MC drag him down to ruin like the snake did to Eve but it doesn’t take him too long to realize that you’re not dangerous, you’re actually his salvation. You’re there to show him true happiness and freedom, and it makes him question everything he once thought was good. 

Satan: How Did it End?

We were blind to unforeseen circumstances We learned thе right steps to different dancеs And fell victim to interlopers' glances Lost the game of chance, what are the chances?

This is how I imagine things ending with Satan. The relationship has been so private and peaceful; no one ever had any clue what was going on behind closed doors. In fact, MC and Satan might not be entirely sure either. For a relationship that once seemed so strong, it’s been slowly dying since its beginning, doomed to fail once the lovers are separated until it’s just MC alone in the human realm left haunted by the ghost of their beloved. Of course everyone is just so curious because they care but everywhere MC turns they’re being asked about Satan and what happened to their relationship. For all the detective work the two of them used to do, MC can’t quite figure out exactly what happened. Just like everything else in their life, it’s over and they have to figure out how to pick up the pieces in front of everyone. 

Beel: So High School

You know how to ball, I know Aristotle Brand-new, full throttle Touch me while your bros play Grand Theft Auto It's true, swear, scout's honor (Yeah) You knew what you wanted and, boy, you got her

Has everyone seen all the Travis being a himbo memes? Cause they are cracking me up. I feel like Beel is Travis - just a really good guy but definitely not the intellectual of a relationship, though he’s more insightful than people give him credit for. I don’t really like this song if I’m being honest but it’s so Beel-coded and I absolutely love the line about ball/Aristotle - I don’t get how anyone could hate it. I think this is very much MC, the most powerful and influential human basically ever, and her loving himbo demon boyfriend. They’re so happy in their own little bubble. It’s a relationship built on trust, comfort, and respect. They have fun and explore each other’s interests, and everything is soft and sweet like a first high school love should be. It’s not full of the same angst and insecurity the rest of the relationships are threatened with. 

Belphie: thanK you aIMee

All that time you were throwin' punches, it was all for nothin' And our town, it looks so small from way up here Screamed, "Thank you, Aimee" to the night sky and the stars are stunnin' 'Cause I can't forget the way you made me heal

Belphie as Kim? I absolutely love it. Belphie was our biggest hater by far in the beginning. He was convinced that we were the shitty one, fake and dishonest and a perfect _ of everything humanity represents, and so he does everything in his power not to only bring us down and lift himself up but also to torture us mentally during the process. His betrayal kills us, both literally and figuratively, and I know that MC would take so long to actually heal from that trauma because how do you move on when you’re constantly confronted with your killer? However, MC does move on and becomes so strong after and the bond they form with the entire family/Devildom never would have happened if it hadn’t been for Belphie’s choices. In the end, there’s something to thank Belphie for. 

Solomon: I Look in People’s Windows

I look in people's windows In case you're at their table What if your eyes looked up and met mine One more time?

This song is so sad and lonely feeling. It makes me think of poor Solomon who is doomed to outlive everyone he has ever loved and always be left behind unless he decides to run preemptively. I imagine Solomon referring to himself as a deranged weirdo who watches everything and everyone from the outside, always around but invisible. This song in particular is the epitome of what it would be like for him once MC is back in the human realm. He loves them, he misses them, no one in the world is nearly interesting enough to replace them and hold his attention. So he wanders around from place to place, always looking into the windows of restaurants and bookstores and houses, wondering if he’ll ever see them again. His thoughts are made up of what if’s and if only’s, and the none of it ever compares to the day that he looks into a window somewhere only to find MC already looking back at him (as if they didn’t spend all of their time looking out windows for him). 

Diavolo: Prophecy

The Prophecy is, by far, one of my favorite songs on the entire album and possibly my favorite on the anthology. It was really a struggle to decide who it fit with most (it was almost given to Mammon) but, ultimately, I thought that this song just felt so much like Diavolo. It’s beautiful, poetic and lyrical. It’s depressing and heartwrenching and full of goodness. Diavolo has revealed over and over again how truly lonely it is to be him, how badly he longs for genuine connection, how touch and affection starved he is. He’s a man who has everything in the palm of his hand - everything except love, which is the one thing he craves most of all. He thought he had it with MC and, for a short time, it was like his prayers had been answered but it was lightning in a bottle and gone before he even knew what was happening. And so the prophecy continues and Diavolo is forced to accept his fate. 

Levi: Peter

And I won't confess that I waited, but I let the lamp burn As the men masqueraded, I hoped you'd return With your feet on the ground, tell me all that you'd learned 'Cause love's never lost when perspective is earned

This was another tough one. I didn’t find anything that really super resonated with me for Levi but this was the closest I came. Levi is very much a child in some ways. By being such a shut in, he’s experienced very little social and emotional growth, even less so than most of his brothers. He loves fantasy and escaping into those adventures because he can’t actually be hurt. MC is entirely different story and, despite being so interested in them, Levi finds it very hard to commit to them beyond a playful friendship as if they’re lost boys together because anything more than that means that Levi will have to learn and grow and risk having his heart broken. MC would wait forever for him to open up, if they could, but the time comes when they have to go home and, unfortunately, Levi was just never able to take that final leap of faith and grow with them so he’s forever stuck as Peter Pan in his own little unchanging Neverland while ‘Wendy’ moves on to the future without him. 

Lucifer: The Manuscript

Another tough choice. (I was being serious when I said this half of the album was hard). This song references back to Taylor dating older men and really considering what the purpose of that life lesson was and what it means for her going forward. I think Lucifer is definitely a life lesson for MC. They want to please him so badly that they’re willing to try harder to be smarter, more capable, more mature. Anything that will get his attention and maybe make him proud of them. His opinion is what matters most but, at the end of the day, MC is going right back to the human realm where Lucifer isn’t around and they don’t have to pretend to be better than they actually are anyone. They can relex and breathe and be the normal, fucked up human they always have been. It’s excruciating and MC doesn’t understand for a long time what the point of the transfer was for, if it was just going to leave them right where they started, but MC comes to realize that the journey and who we become along the way is the most important thing. Lucifer was a large part of their life story but it turns out he was only a chapter in their book, just how MC always imagined they would be for him. 

Mammon: I Hate it Here

I'm lonely, but I'm good I'm bitter, but I swear I'm fine I'll save all my romanticism for my inner life and I'll get lost on purpose This place made me feel worthless

Mammon! This is for my first and favorite man who is far more sensitive than he lets on. He lives on escapism, though not quite as overtly as Levi’s love of fiction or Satan’s reading. He is always moving, always meeting new people, always trying new things. He is spending his whole life looking somewhere, someone, to make him feel safe and happy and at home. Not that he would ever dare admit that to anyone. He hates the Devildom and what it’s turned him into. Where the brothers used to tease him with affection in the Celestial Realm, it all feels too genuine and harsh down here. He doesn’t feel like he has any value and no one can see the real him (is there even a real him anymore? If there is, it worth seeing or is the mask he wears the better choice?) MC is the only person allowed into his sanctuaries, the only person who makes the real world feel worthwhile.

Diaphragm Valve

The diaphragm is made of Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) making it the best choice to dispense moisture sensitive and low to medium viscosity fluids such as moisture sensitive adhesives for general bonding applications and UV cured adhesives in the medical device industry.

Needle Valve

This is ideal for applications that require micro dot size (less than 0.002cc), such as UV adhesive used in hearing aids. Except moisture sensitive fluids and quick curing adhesives, fluids such as UV adhesives, solvents, inks, oils and primers are recommended.

Spool Valve

To dispense high viscosity fluids in high volume applications heavy-duty spool valves are used. Fluids such as silicones, greases and sealants are dispensed using this type of valve.

I've always had some thoughts about the relationship that Boone and Carla had prior to her being sold off to the Legion, so what better way to share them than to make a sort of timeline of events.

As we know, Boone and Carla met either just before or just after the Bitter Springs Massacre:

Some time after Bitter Springs, Boone was discharged from the NCR Army, but not before meeting Carla while on leave.  Carla was the only thing in the world who made him feel calm and happy in life. When he listened to her, she made him forget about everything he did in the military. He left the military, married Carla, and moved to Novac at the invitation of his 1st Recon friend, Manny Vargas.

There’s a lot of mystery around Carla and her relationship with Boone, mostly because outside of Boone’s personal quest, Carla played no real part in the plot of Fallout: New Vegas.  However, there are some things that can be taken into consideration to determine just how long Boone and Carla were together (re: married) before Boone inevitably killed her and their unborn child to save her from a lifetime of slavery in the Legion. BOONE’S MILITARY SERVICE

It is unknown when Boone joined the New California Republic (NCR), however his time in service prior to the Bitter Springs massacre is not entirely important, but we’ll delve into it anyway:

The Bitter Springs massacre occurred in 2278, meaning that at the time Boone was at the ripe age of 23 years old (as Boone is 26 in 2281).

Given the fact that Boone is a member of the 1st Reconnaissance Battalion (1st Recon), we can assume that he would have joined between ages 18-21 due to the fact that generally speaking, most specialized unit training can take 1.5 to 2-years. This is based off of general time estimates for the United States Marine Corps, which has a 1st Reconnaissance Battalion of its own.

NOTE: This is assuming that the NCR was running at a functional and operational level, as Boone and numerous others state that the Republic is heavily disorganized and that the selection process for the Recon is being “the best shot on the range”. This may mean that he could have been in service for a lot shorter, or that this training did not occur.

Moving on from this portion of Boone’s service, we know that Boone was placed on leave prior to his discharge after the Bitter Springs massacre, which it was during this time when he met Carla.

DISCHARGE

Let’s dive into the conditions of Boone’s discharge, as that will help determine a time frame for how long his leave would have taken.

Given the circumstances of the Bitter Springs massacre, it is most likely that Boone filed for a Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) Discharge.  

This would happen on the grounds that, due to the events that unfolded, Boone found himself having severe symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Many of these symptoms are still found in 2281, even if not as severe. The TLDR is that this form of discharge would require a formal diagnosis which can take weeks or months, as an adult must have symptoms for at least 1 month:

At least one re-experiencing symptom

At least one avoidance symptom

At least two arousal and reactivity symptoms

At least two cognition and mood symptoms

Given that there is no definitive timeline, this process could take anywhere from two months to a year, which means Boone most likely met Carla between ages 23 and 24 while on leave for this diagnosis and discharge process.

This gives us a little more of a timeframe, which will be expanded on in the next section.

CARLA’S PREGNANCY

According to the official Bill of Sale that can be found in the Dino Dee-lite Motel, Carla was sold for a tidy sum of 1,000 caps, plus another 500 caps for her unborn child, to slavers in Caesar’s Legion. There is also mention of a bonus 500 caps if the child “made it to term”, meaning that Carla still had plenty of time to go before giving birth.

Anyway-

Going on the assumption that, due to various medicinal tools and practices being lost in the Great War, pregnancy test were not available to those residing in the Mojave, for anybody to really know that she was pregnant, she most likely would have to have been showing her pregnancy.

If this is the case, then Carla was pregnant for any time between 12 and 16 weeks, approximately 3 to 4 months.

NOTE: Again, this part is based on the assumption that pregnancy tests were unavailable. This may be wrong or inaccurate.

However, the letter that can be found on Boone suggests that Carla was further along in her pregnancy than mentioned above, considering the circumstances:

Everyone that enters the NCR army is required to write a letter to be passed on to their loved ones if they die in action. Boone had written this to his wife Carla, apparently during her pregnancy. Boone kept his note and carries it around with him, possibly as one more way to carry on her memory.

This means that Boone wrote the letter prior to discharge, whether it was during duty or while on leave. The latter is the most likely instance, since having Boone actively on duty would mean the pregnancy would have been well over 9 months.

The letter is as follows, and addresses both Carla and their unborn child:

Carla,

If you’re reading this, then you know. Sorry. Wanted to make it back home to you.

The pension won’t be much but it should help you and the baby get by. Want you to remarry when you meet the right person. Don’t want you to have to be on your own.

Not sure the right way to say how I feel about you. Think you know already, though. Always seemed like you knew what I meant, maybe better than I did. Wish I was there with you now.

There are things I couldn’t tell you. Tried. Whatever you learn over time about my service in the NCR, hope you can forgive me.

Lastly, know you were against it, but if it’s a girl, want her to be named after her mother. Know it’s playing dirty to win the argument this way, but too bad. It’s worth it.

So realistically, Carla could be anywhere from 3 months to 7 or 8 months pregnant. Regardless, it’s known that Carla is pregnant.

SOCIAL IMPLICATIONS AND MARRIAGE

Now, given the fact that Boone met Carla between ages 23 and 24, this would mean that by this point, Boone and Carla have at least known one another for two or three years. 

This means that they could have been married for:

Two years (assuming that they dated or were just acquainted for that first year)

3 - 8 months (assuming Boone married her when the news of her pregnancy first broke)

Looking at the social implications, though, it can be assumed the latter is the truth. This is because of various recollections of the relationship between Boone and Carla by the townsfolk of Novac:

Jeannie May Crawford describes Carla as being similar to a cactus flower; “Real pretty to look at, but there’s no getting close to her.”

Ranger Andy describes her as a “knockout” and says that Boone always had a “funny grin on his face” when they were together. Unlike the other residents of Novac, Ranger Andy doesn’t have a problem with Carla. He acknowledges her sour attitude and the poor opinions the other residents had of her, but he confides in the Courier that he always believed Carla’s cold demeanor was just a cover for her unhappiness and says he doesn’t blame her for wanting to think there was “something better out there than this (Novac).”

Alice McBride has a similar opinion of Carla to Ranger Andy.

Manny Vargas, Boone’s former friend, says that he and Carla couldn’t see eye-to-eye on anything, and he argued with her frequently. Carla wanted Boone to end his service in the NCR which eventually led to a rift between Manny and Boone. Manny also testifies that Boone and Carla often fought since they moved to Novac.

Cliff Briscoe states that Carla always had a sour look on her face whenever she was in his Dino Bite gift shop.

These testimonies, particularly those praising the relationship that Boone and Carla had, would suggest they are still well within the “honeymoon phase” of their marriage.

The way pre-pandemic she used to talk about how she assumed Lover was her last shot at a popular album before being resigned to the pop star elephant graveyard, her talk in the Time POTY interview about hiding herself away after 2016 and avoiding being out in the limelight because she was scared of her life imploding again among other things, the explanation in Long Pond Studio Sessions about “peace” among others about trying to pretend her Pop Star life doesn’t exist as much as possible in private (obviously paraphrased) because it causes such pain in her life and in those of her loved ones (or one), the initial breakup articles attributing the separation to the differences in their lifestyles and how she was a different person in 2016 than she was in 2023 and they no longer saw eye to eye, the insinuations in You’re Losing Me about not being understood and bearing pain all on her own, the 🥴 speech at that Eras show during The Pit™️ where she said her life finally made sense and she’d never been that happy (despite circumstances being Very Much Not Happy), and so on…

I’m just thinking there’s a certain correlation between the shedding of something and embracing another and that it could be that one may not have been possible/compatible with the other… and that TPD may be her fully embracing that voice… idk

And winning AOTY for an album that may end up being the bridge between Before and After… must mean a lot…

Look I’m not trying to project on Taylor or anyone until TS11 drops but her AOTY acceptance speech focusing on how much she loves her job and getting to do all the parts of her job (not just writing and singing but performing and touring and constantly working) coming on the heels of the announcement of The Tortured Poets Department’s imminent release and how it’s been brewing for two years… thoughts are thinking dots are connecting…

After the Trinity Bellwoods raid a month ago, Mayor John Tory said the police showed up because the protesters were interfering with city workers helping the homeless. Video showed the massive paramilitary force was there hours before protesters.

The mayor, along with other councillors, have said the city does not control the police, but after Wednesday’s raid at Lamport Stadium, the police issued a statement that they are directed by the city. Each pointed at each other, evading blame or accountability. Who are Torontonians to believe?

The mayor has also repeatedly said that violence at Lamport was caused by protesters, but many videos show, including a disturbing one shot by Global TV’s Katherine Ward (more than 1.2 million views on Twitter), showing people in defensive positions, with arms linked around tents, set upon by police. Other photos show people beaten with truncheons and cop knees on backs.

Our mayor of inherited wealth, owner of multiple homes, dismissed them as troublemakers rather than representative of a lot of Torontonians who, present or not, are outraged at the violence of these evictions and lack of proper housing.

People plainly can see the police provoking the violence, yet the mayor tells us what we’re seeing is not what we’re seeing, and gave it his blessing on “Breakfast Television” the next day. In that same video, police also tore up a tent, like petulant children destroying a play fort, also proving false the city’s message that care would be given to possessions.

Remember, these same police have all but abdicated their duty on road safety and let anti-vax and antimask protesters harass and even block people going to vaccine clinics, but will descend on the poor and their defenders with enthusiastic zeal.

It’s one thing to expect a politician’s messaging to be self-serving and torqued, but when the official, theoretically apolitical communication channels seem outwardly political, trust is set on fire.

As the park evictions have continued over the last month, the doublespeak language from official channels has increased. At Trinity Bellwoods it was called “restoring” the park. A month later, large parts of the park are still fenced off, said to let the grass grow — a surprising level of care to anybody who has seen the general state of Toronto parks.

geographically speaking I've left things sort of ambiguous but if anyone was wondering, the fictional Mahone Bay is somewhere roughly halfway between San Franscisco and LA

The movie was shot at Newport Beach which is technically south of LA, but especially for the crossovers (TPD takes place in San Franscisco, Brink! takes place in LA) I wanted it to be between them. Also, my only experience with California is Monterey, which works both for the sort of sealife we see in the movie as well as the way I've been writing it, and that's between SF and LA too. The fashion in the movie/the way I've been picturing and describing things also leans Northern California

Exactly where, I'm leaving sort of ambiguous on purpose since it's fictional. "Mahone Bay" is a real place in Canada (which interestingly, the H2O crossover fic placed TTY in that Canadian one for some reason - there were a couple interesting choices made with the movie details)

Defend activists and organizers under attack! Defend Black lives!

As the anti-racist uprising of 2020 roiled business as usual in cities across the U.S., many protesters have been hit with severe charges after being arrested for offenses that would normally be considered violations or misdemeanors. Many arrestees are facing possible sentences of years in prison or even life sentences.

 In a dangerous attack on our right to protest, Attorney General William Barr in a recent conference call with U.S. attorneys across the country even encouraged sedition charges be widely used against anti-racist protestors. Sedition means conspiracy and intent to overthrow the U.S. government and can result in life imprisonment. 

The Socialist Unity Party has issued an appeal to all revolutionary left organizations and activists to unite in defense of those facing repression from the capitalist state and its allies in the white supremacist-fascist movement. (Read the appeal in English or Spanish)

San Diego   

Denzel Draughn, a well-known San Diego anti-racist activist and supporter of the African People’s Socialist Party, was arrested Aug. 28 at a demonstration in solidarity with the movement in Kenosha, Wis., calling for justice for Jacob Blake, who was shot seven times in the back by police. Draughn is charged based on the ridiculous claim that he pepper-sprayed nine cops. He is facing 19 felony charges as a result. The allegations stem from an incident when a group of demonstrators tried to defend themselves against a violent police assault. Ten people were arrested, but Draughn has been singled out for the harshest treatment. At the request of San Diego cops, his bail is set at the outrageous amount of $750,000 – an amount usually reserved for kidnapping or murder.

Denver 

On Sept. 17, police agencies in the Denver area arrested anti-racist organizers in a coordinated assault. Russell Ruch was arrested while in a parking lot at a Home Depot. An hour later, five police cars surrounded and arrested Lillian House while she was driving. That afternoon, S.W.A.T. teams arrived at Joel Northam’s home and arrested him. Eliza Lucero has also been arrested. All four are members of the Party for Socialism and Liberation and organizers of protests to demand justice for Elijah McClain, who was brutally murdered by the Aurora Police Department. They are still in jail, with the exception of one person, and face multiple felony charges and years in prison in an obvious frame-up aimed at stopping the movement for justice for Elijah McClain.

Tallahassee, Fla. 

On Sept. 5, Tallahassee police and Leon County sheriffs attacked a peaceful Black Lives Matter demonstration. After pulling a Black woman organizer from her car, 300 police attacked around 75-100 protesters. Fourteen were arrested on the spot and five more have been arrested since, including members of the Students for a Democratic Society and Freedom Road Socialist Organization. The majority are facing multiple charges, including felonies, that could result in fines of $10,000 and 10 years in prison. Others face up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine for each misdemeanor they’re charged with. The demonstration was to protest a grand jury decision not to indict the police officers who murdered Tony McDade, Mychael Johnson and Wilburn Woodard. The three were gunned down by Tallahassee police in March and May of this year.

Portland, Ore.

The battle against police racism is raging in Portland. Nightly demonstrations have entered their fourth month. Since the end of May, hundreds have been arrested. In August, hoping to quell the protests, incoming Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt dropped charges against protestors. Demonstrations continued to challenge systemic racism, arrests and brutality continued, and charges have become more severe. On Aug. 27, a news release by the U.S. Attorney’s District of Oregon office announced that it is going ahead with prosecutions of 100 people who were arrested since May, many by Trump’s federal officers. Seventy-four of them are facing felonies that could result in prison sentences of years. A Sept. 5 NPR audit of the felony charges concludes that the actions protestors were accused of and arrested for were minor and should never have resulted in felonies.

Oklahoma City

In Oklahoma, where the entire Black community of Tulsa was burned in 1919, and where a white supremacist attack killed 168 people in 1995, Oklahoma County District Attorney Lewis Prater has charged three teenagers, Malachai Davis, Haley Lin Crawford and Sydney Lynch – as well as two other participants in protests against the police murder of George Floyd -- with terrorism. The bond amounts for a dozen other arrestees are between $200,000 and $1 million. The harshest treatment has been directed at those arrestees who are African American. Terrorism convictions could mean years or even decades in prison for charges that should have been misdemeanors. In May, DA Prater refused to charge cops who killed Isaiah Lewis during a mental health crisis in September 2019. When 42-year-old Derrick Scott was in custody of Oklahoma City cops in May 2019, he told them he couldn’t breathe and asked for his medicine. The cop’s response was “I don’t care.” Scott died soon afterward, but Prater brought no charges against those cops either. In August of this year, James Harmon was shot in the head by cops, also in Prater’s jurisdiction, and there is no indication that charges will be brought against the cops who killed him.

Salt Lake City

In Salt Lake City, a group of protestors are charged with felony criminal mischief. District Attorney Sim Gill added a “gang enhancement,” which could mean life sentences for seven people who were protesting Gill’s decision not to file charges against two SLC cops who shot Bernardo Palacios-Carbajal in the back and killed him. Gill justifies the gang enhancement by saying the activists conspired to splash red paint and break the windows of a building. The gang enhancement is an inherently racist feature of the criminal justice system, and the fact that it is being used against people protesting police murders of people of color is a further travesty of justice. More than 30 others in Salt Lake City have been hit with serious charges stemming from recent anti-racist demonstrations, including some felonies.

Miami

Jonathon Gartrelle, a leading gay, African American, anti-racist activist in Miami, is charged with strong-arm robbery and escape – both felonies – as well as two misdemeanors. Jonathon is accused of removing two Trump flags from parked vehicles and dropping them on the ground while counter-protesting at a pro-Trump caravan. Gartrelle himself was hit by an SUV, which drove away and was not pursued by the cops, who are falsely claiming that Gartrelle declined to press charges. Gartrelle wanted to press charges but refused to go with them in a police cruiser to fill out a report at a precinct.

I feel pretty lame in my writing sometimes but im real hypercritical of myself w that shit in general so it's hard to place what im proud of- I'm proud of it all but!!! I think TASTE and along with you reflect my traditional writing the best- so, I'm proud of those two for them being more within my voice as a writer

I'm proud of TPD for the length and for what it brought me (my friendships, practice in writing and people in general found me through that and followed my works bc of it or were just generally kind to me), and then I'm proud of HVLTW for how out of my element it was, like extreme out of my comfort zone.

Favorite fic: Any fic I’m writing is my favorite fic, honestly. I have a soft spot for monochromatic, because I was pretty proud of the writing in that one. Also hallelujah (on your lips), because it was my first foray into Chris/Mika and it was a lot of fun.

Fic I most want to expand on/rewrite: I’d honestly like to rewrite Lodestone, because I was really not happy with how I executed the concept---not that it was bad, just that I think I could have done better.

The first thing Filip thought when he met Sixten was holy shit he’s tall.

The second thing he thought was so this is who’s taking my job. He’d opened the door to find his agent, Hannah, on the other side, with Sixten shifting his weight beside her, clearly brimming with nervous energy. He towered easily eight inches above Filip, lanky where Filip was compact, all elbows and knees like a gangly colt not quite sure what to do with himself.

Height difference, age difference, resentment/hero worship, rivals-to-friends-to-lovers, goalies---what’s not to like?

“You need someone to like, take care of you,” TK says, and Nolan stares at him, faintly horrified. 

“If I did, which I don’t, it would be someone qualified for the job,” he finally says. 

TK lifts his chin. “You saying I’m not good enough?”

“I’m saying you don’t know what you’re doing,” Nolan snaps. “You can’t fix my head, Teeks. You might as well leave me alone and let me deal with it on my own.”

TK sets his jaw, and oh, Nolan knows that look. It’s the look he gets on the ice, usually right before getting punched. It’s the look that says I’m not moving unless you move me. Nolan hates that look, because he knows he’s going to be cleaning up whatever mess TK gets himself into.

My Welcome

Hewwo! My name is Ashka and I'm pretty new to the writing side of the vld fandom! This is my writing/vld blog where you can see reflags of pics and art, and snippets of my own works.

In the coming months I’ll be posting a couple of multi-chaptered and one-shot fics. SoMost of them will be AUs or non-canon complaint works but who knows what I’ll write in the future! Currently, I’m planning to release some gen fics, as well as some with ships such as Klance and other, non-k/l relationships. My first work on ao3 has just been posted here. 

Most of the things I post will probably be vld related, but occasionally some spop or tpd things may work their way onto my account.

Unfortunately I only watched vld after s8 aired so I’ve joined the fandom pretty late, but I hope you enjoy this account!
