My roman empire is the difference in how Horikoshi draws Dabi and 'Dabi'

Smirking so wide his cheeks staples are popping out exposing the muscles underneath the grafts, staring straight into 'camera', carefully controlling the way he looks and is perceived. It's not a natural way of being, it's performative. Exposing and highlighting his grotesque scars. Chin raised high, looking down at the characters he interacts with and at the audience. His gestures wide and self-assured, throwing his arms out. He forcibly attracts attention, even the negative kind, especially the negative kind. A smug and self-confident asshole.

And then he is off his Dabi hours and suddenly no longer filling the room with his presence. Gone is the oppressive evil charisma that had even the pro heroes scared of him. Now the hidden, nameless, hinted-at since his first appearance real identity is left exposed. His head turned down, avoiding eye contact, slouching. His wrists hanging limply. Arms crossed - hugging himself, a tell-tale gesture of discomfort. Curling into himself, making himself smaller. He looks younger, rolling his eyes and pouting.

Touya has run out of his social battery and doesn't want to be engaged with. He is vulnerable, the way Dabi can't afford himself to be. It's just so fascinating how his way of masking is putting on an artificially created Dabi persona.

This is how I saw Dabi's reveal.

Shoto: awe, man, I'm so lonely. I wish I had a friend.

Dabi, walks in the house with his arms stretched out.

Shoto: gasp! Brother! You're back!

Dabi: thats right. (Holds up full carton of milk.) I came back with the milk.

Shoto: hooray! Finally, we can-

Dabi, furiously drinking the milk.

Dabi, holding up now empty bottle of milk: aw, man. Outta milk. See ya, shoto. (Leaves)

imagine, the dabi is touya reveal, but everyone except endeavor was aware. shouto put it together after dabi called him by his full name at the summer camp, katsuki put it together after his kidnapping (probably from some stupid tiny habit), most of 1-A was convinced by shouto. natsuo figured it out from high-end. it was a theory on forums that dabi was endeavor's dead kid for awhile endeavor is the only one who doesn't know, and i can't decide if dabi should be aware of this fact or not

it makes so much sense that dabi is touya and i mean obviously but idk how to explain it but before it was confirmed that dabi was touya i would look at dabi and go ‘yeah, thats touya’ because it was obvious but ever since it was confirmed i go ‘thats touya’ cause like thats so touya ??? and obviously thats touya cause thats TOUYA but omfgggg urghhhg i dont know how to explain it it makes sense in my brain but just i look at dabi and its touya and it puts everything in a new light and perspective and everything makes sense and ARGHHHHHHHH please tell me yall get me

I haven't seen any of this on Tumblr, but for the past week, Twitter has been arguing about whether Dabi or Gojo is more influential in the animanga community (Dabi exploding/ Touya reveal vs Gojo's unboxing). Just the typical X character vs X character tweets, which is ironic because those two have nothing in common haha.

Anyways, somehow it's devolved into Dabi x Gojo rather than Dabi vs Gojo. So yeah. I'm a Dabojo shipper now. There will be more fan art from me.

i still cannot believe dabi actually showed up in this lil white number like he is such a theatre kid

like genuinely got himself all dressed up for this fight and kept the belt—because of course he did, because the belt is iconic, the belt has come with him throughout all three of his outfit changes—and showed up looking sexy as hell to what he was essentially intending to be his own funeral.

abo au where the Touya identity reveal happened in a completely different way. To summarize, it was because of dabihawks' inability to keep their hands off each other.

Hawks going to a villain fight completely soaked in an omega's scent, the tabloids having the time of their lives theorizing who this mysterious beau is. Was it the soft spoken man working in the cafe? (he was buying dabi's favorite croissant) Was it the lady he was seen shopping that one time in the mall? (he asked another omega what would be good for his mate's nest) Or was it the white haired badboy that was seen one time prying a whole chicken out of Hawks' hands. (it really was him. Dabi got tired of having chicken everyday for dinner and accompanied the hero to the groceries.) Who knows? It seems like they'll never get the answer.

Cut to a week later and UA student Shouto is seen uploading a youtube video detailing that he got close to Hawks' scent. And the scent was very, very familiar. He tells of an older brother that he only vaguely remembers but his inner pup would always know that scent. Mint interwined with the heaviness of campfire smores, his nii-san.

The video ends with a threat for Hawks to take care of his brother or else. On another note, he also recommends what protection to use because the two seem very irresponsible. We can't have an accidental pup, or else touya-nii might just end up like their mother, Shouto says with a straight face as if he didn't just reveal one of their dirty laundry to the world. The video blows up and hundreds of fans open an investigation to the Todoroki family. And if one of them is a Dabi simp who took one look at the eldest Todoroki kid and would "know those pretty blue eyes amywhere", then Dabi blames Hawks bc if the oversized chicken only took a moment to take a 5 min shower then they wouldn't even be in this situation to begin with.
