My roman empire is the difference in how Horikoshi draws Dabi and 'Dabi'

Smirking so wide his cheeks staples are popping out exposing the muscles underneath the grafts, staring straight into 'camera', carefully controlling the way he looks and is perceived. It's not a natural way of being, it's performative. Exposing and highlighting his grotesque scars. Chin raised high, looking down at the characters he interacts with and at the audience. His gestures wide and self-assured, throwing his arms out. He forcibly attracts attention, even the negative kind, especially the negative kind. A smug and self-confident asshole.

And then he is off his Dabi hours and suddenly no longer filling the room with his presence. Gone is the oppressive evil charisma that had even the pro heroes scared of him. Now the hidden, nameless, hinted-at since his first appearance real identity is left exposed. His head turned down, avoiding eye contact, slouching. His wrists hanging limply. Arms crossed - hugging himself, a tell-tale gesture of discomfort. Curling into himself, making himself smaller. He looks younger, rolling his eyes and pouting.

Touya has run out of his social battery and doesn't want to be engaged with. He is vulnerable, the way Dabi can't afford himself to be. It's just so fascinating how his way of masking is putting on an artificially created Dabi persona.

Dabi: thats right. (Holds up full carton of milk.) I came back with the milk.

Dabi, furiously drinking the milk.

Dabi, holding up now empty bottle of milk: aw, man. Outta milk. See ya, shoto. (Leaves)

imagine, the dabi is touya reveal, but everyone except endeavor was aware. shouto put it together after dabi called him by his full name at the summer camp, katsuki put it together after his kidnapping (probably from some stupid tiny habit), most of 1-A was convinced by shouto. natsuo figured it out from high-end. it was a theory on forums that dabi was endeavor's dead kid for awhile endeavor is the only one who doesn't know, and i can't decide if dabi should be aware of this fact or not

it makes so much sense that dabi is touya and i mean obviously but idk how to explain it but before it was confirmed that dabi was touya i would look at dabi and go ‘yeah, thats touya’ because it was obvious but ever since it was confirmed i go ‘thats touya’ cause like thats so touya ??? and obviously thats touya cause thats TOUYA but omfgggg urghhhg i dont know how to explain it it makes sense in my brain but just i look at dabi and its touya and it puts everything in a new light and perspective and everything makes sense and ARGHHHHHHHH please tell me yall get me

I haven't seen any of this on Tumblr, but for the past week, Twitter has been arguing about whether Dabi or Gojo is more influential in the animanga community (Dabi exploding/ Touya reveal vs Gojo's unboxing). Just the typical X character vs X character tweets, which is ironic because those two have nothing in common haha.

Anyways, somehow it's devolved into Dabi x Gojo rather than Dabi vs Gojo. So yeah. I'm a Dabojo shipper now. There will be more fan art from me.
