When I was a kid I had a book of like, "fun physics experiments for kids". And one of them was an "experiment" where you hold an object by a string and just by focusing on the direction you wanted it to swing, it would start to move in that direction even without your input. The book of course explained that this was the ideomotor effect, a phenomenon where your thoughts can create minute, unconscious movements in your body.

Then a couple years later I got a fortune-telling kit that included a pendulum. You hold the pendulum over a piece of paper that says "yes" and "no" and ask a question, and whichever way the pendulum moves is the answer.

At which point I was like "hey WAIT a minute", and in hindsight I think that experience explains most things about who I am as a person

To write horror, I think it helps to be something of a scaredy cat. My body is a sensitive instrument for Offness, I'll get spooked by anything. I was just viscerally disgusted by the way a piece of cauliflower split under my knife. Supple but giving, structure so much like a cortex, oddly sponge-like with too many nooks and crannies. Y'know it's probably good I replaced "I want to kill myself" with "I am going to become All for One." Except if I ever get isekai'd into MHA I am going to have to quickly unlearn that habit or face supreme consequences. Unless I am getting put into AFO's body. Then it's just funny.

last night I had a dream I was in a rural area in the united states of america and I had left my phone in the woods so I went to retrieve it and a mountain lion the size of a family SUV leapt out of the woods and started attacking me. why. why was I american in my nightmare. that's scarier than the whole mountain lion ordeal to me

If I was in a fanfiction and started coughing up flowers while working at a flower shop (because this is a flower shop au) I would NOT connect my crush on the tattoo artist next door to the flower cough situation. I would freak the fuck out and think the pollen at work was doing some Last of Us shit to me, quit my job and move FAR away. inadvertently my flame for the tattoo artist would fade with distance, solving my hanahaki situation and proving my 'the flowers were trying to turn me into a plant zombie' theory
