There's absolutely no way people are now saying that all the gege-hate train is just an internal joke of the fandom. There's no way you're this out of touch with what has been happening.

I've been in the fandom since 2020 and it doesn't take a lot of smarts to see there's been a change in tone in the way some people say that in the last year. Since this new arc of history began, destructive criticism, massive hate and threats have overflowed into hundreds of profiles. It's no longer "oh, I hate Gege akutami" now and for a while now it's "I hate Gege akutami - his manga is horrible I'm gonna drop it (they never do) - he doesn't deserve popularity - he doesn't know how to write - he pretends to have an illness."

And yet, it's not normal to make jokes about wanting to kill someone, hon. Go check yourself if you find that funny, you're no better than let's-joke-about-sensitive-issues reddit incels

Went to an ace and aro meetup and it was amazing and I've never felt more at home. There were aces and aros of all races, colours, genders, split attractions, relationship formats, sex and romance preferences, nationalities, shapes and sizes. Oh my holy Jesus, if new AO3 writers don't learn how to use it something not nice is going to happen. It's not wattpad you don't have to put the ship in the title, there is literally a specific spot for the ship and the fandom to go. It also really bothers me when people use the like "aesthetic" fonts in titles cause bro I'm dyslexic and some of those are really hard to read. Look around you, why are you using fonts and putting the ships in the titles PLEASE. Maybe I need a reality check but it gets on my nerves so bad

yknow people talk about how deliberately exposing yourself to things that you know will upset you is a clinically recognized form of self harm in reference to antis going into proship spaces and hate-scrolling/reposting material they find there for the sake of "awareness", and that's all very true...

...but we should also hold that sentiment for proshippers who go into antiship spaces and/or repost antiship rhetoric for the purpose of "exposing" how dumb/harmful said rhetoric is; especially when it's posted untagged.

icky fanart/fanfiction is one thing, and while i respect that people are uncomfortable with it, it's nowhere near the same as posting completely untagged images of threats/harmful statements directed towards real people. if you're going to repost antis' takes in order to disprove them/make fun of them, please tag it or at least put it under a "read more" cut so that people scrolling on the main proship tag won't have to get flashbanged with borderline hate speech.
