Tottenham was my home. It was the council house on Nursery Street my mum was raised in by her grandparents. The same roof she would later raise my sister and I under.
It was where I could hear a goal in the spurs ground from the living room window, before seeing it on live TV. It was where I spent hours on my bike in the street and where I was knocked off it by a car. It was where I went trick or treating on Halloween and where our family car was stolen and destroyed after a joyride. It was where my great-granddad, Stan, would get away with taking a three-year-old me into the bookies, because they knew and liked him so much. Tottenham is also where he spent his final moments.
Like all these memories, Tottenham is a neighbourhood of complexity.
Areas of poverty are surrounded by prosperity. Council homes are next door to million-dollar penthouse apartments. Food banks and £7 craft pints are on the same street. The presence of the new billion-dollar football stadium and the eyes that it brings to the area cannot be understated. This development has caused a dramatic increase in high-rise building projects and ‘new money’ residents. The periphery of this glass colosseum, however, does not reflect this economic change. Instead, the blocks of flats, locally named ‘Love Lane’, and the neighbouring high street are completely overshadowed by the stadium with no so-called trickle-down effect, but rather a clear divide. Tottenham has some of the highest rates of crime and unemployment in London, however many longtime residents now also fear the loss of their homes and businesses as they get priced out of the community.
It is this community that I have chosen to focus on. The incredible people that make Tottenham one of the most culturally rich and interesting areas in the country.

This is a good thing My family and home life. It’s still my favourite place to be. Football in all its gross financial injustices, still remains a truly entertaining, all welcoming spectacle – a break from our  realities. I spent a lot of my days obsessed with the beautiful game. My own team Tottenham’s reimagining as a team for the neutral under Ange Postecoglou. I’ve had a serious post-covid hangover about going out; crowds and especially going to concerts. But still this year I managed to catch a few shows. John Cale and Knife Girl at the Helsinki Festival was very special. Elvis Costello at Kulttuuritalo was a great way to spend an evening – I didn’t really want it to end (and this was also a rare date with my partner!) Emma Ruth Rundle, Sorry, Jake Xerxes Fussell were good festival experiences. I’m an eternal optimist with dreams that we can all get along, people can be who they wanna be and somehow humanity pulls together to save the planet. My dream state staves off the dark feelings that are increasingly hard to ignore.
This is a low The Israel demolition of Palestine in response to Hamas atrocities is a key world happening which will resonate for decades to come. British Conservatives and all right wing ideologues who – in collusion with the mainstream media – spend most of their time demonising refugees and the trans community. The public discussion around minorities in Finland is base and inhumane. This right-wing Finnish government has been a hard dose of reality that has sprung many of us out of our comfort zones. The casual racism of the Finnish government has normalised terminology that should offend everyone. Disgraceful. The lack of a moral compass or compassion in world politics – who exactly are the good guys? I hope someone could point out who’s looking out for us all nowadays? Elon Musk and the destabilising of Twitter. He just couldn’t leave it alone could he? The unstoppable rise of AI. It’s a slow process (or maybe a fast one) that results in the death of a certain kind of creativity. Hearing that some people in the Music business are using AI to write press releases is a little sad. The Saudi exploitation of football.  It doesn’t stop. How long till the whole of football is owned by Saudi Arabia? The Vinyl market  becoming an expensive artefact for the wealthy. In typical Music Industry fashion, the vinyl format becomes revitalised only for the music industry to make the price prohibitive for most people. Own goals are rarely clearer.
Future To be a better me.

Popcaan - Skeleton Cartier (Official Music Video)

In 1948 the Labour government introduced the "British Nationality Act 1948", which came into effect in January 1949. This act introduced the status of "Citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies" (CUKC), essentially putting all residents within Britain's colonies on an equal footing with existing residents of the British Isles[10] and gave every person within the British commonwealth the right to move to the UK, if they so wished. Within the Caribbean community, new arrivals from Jamaica were sometimes referred to as "Yardies" due to reference of Jamaica as "back a yard" (or "back home"). A large influx of inner city Jamaican immigration to Britain during the 1980s led to the rise of gang violence or behaviour on the part of Jamaicans which became known in wider British society as "Yardie culture" and the participants "Yardies". The terms "Yardie gang" or "Yardie gun violence" were largely used by the British media to describe violent crimes in London's black community. The gangs in London are specifically known to have occupied and operated in Brixton, Harlesden/Stonebridge, Hackney, Tottenham, Peckham and Notting Hill.[6]

By • Olalekan Fagbade   The new 2023/24 English Premier League (EPL) enters its 2nd match day this weekend with the expectation of more drama. Recall that the new Premier League campaign started last week Friday as Manchester City defeated Burnley 3-0. takes a look at some of the talking points in the week second Premier League matches which started on Friday night to end on Monday evening. Tottenham vs Manchester United: Fans are keen to see who will drop points between both teams. This is the biggest Premier League fixture this weekend. Man United won 1-0 in their first Premier League opener, while Tottenham drew 2-2 against Brentford. Tottenham’s home clash against Manchester United will take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium by 5.30 pm. Tottenham currently sits in ninth position on the Premier League table with a point, while Man United are in seventh place with three points. Spurs, of course, will be without their record-highest goal scorer Harry Kane, who has since left the club to join Bayern Munich this summer. Manchester United have a good historical record against Tottenham and have won 96 out of the 199 games played between both teams, as opposed to Tottenham’s 53 victories. Arsenal’s two Premier League matches rescheduled: The Premier League rescheduled two of Arsenal’s upcoming fixtures against Manchester City and Chelsea. This is coming ahead of Arsenal’s away clash with Crystal Palace on Monday night. Mikel Arteta’s side will now play Manchester City on October 8 at the Emirates Stadium. CRIME CHANNELS reports that it is the first league meeting between last season’s top two. Earlier this month, the Gunners saw off Pep Guardiola’s side on penalties to win the Community Shield. After the Man City tie, Arsenal will two weeks later head to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea. While that game will still take place on Saturday, October 21, it will now kick off at a later time of 5.30 pm. The TV amendments have now been completed for all of October’s matches in the Premier League. However, as always, fixtures are still subject to change. How Manchester City will cope without playmaker Kevin de Bruyne: Manchester City could be without their playmaker Kevin de Bruyne for at least the next four months due to a recurring hamstring injury. De Bruyne has suffered a serious injury that could see him sidelined for a lengthy period. Man City boss Pep Guardiola had already admitted that the Belgian could not be replaced in his squad but insisted that they have other good players who can play in his position. De Bruyne was in superb form for Guardiola’s side last season and he was recently named in the final three-man nominees for the 2022/23 UEFA Men’s Best Player award alongside teammates Erling Haaland and Inter Miami’s Lionel Messi. Meanwhile, Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand has since urged Man City to sign West Ham United’s Lucas Paqueta to temporarily replace De Bruyne. On his part, Former Tottenham star, Darren Bent believes other Manchester City stars will have to step up in De Bruyne’s absence. PFA Player of the Year nominations: Manchester City and Arsenal players have dominated the PFA Players’ Player of the Year nominations that were recently released. Premier League players are meant to vote for who wins the award from the six-person shortlist. The shortlist has three players from Manchester City, which include Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne and John Stones. Arsenal, last season’s Premier League title runners-up, have Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard on the shortlist. Harry Kane, who is now a Bayern Munich player, after completing a switch to the Bundesliga champions from Tottenham Hotspur this summer, also made the six-man list. DAILY POST reports that the winner of the award will be announced on August
29. Expectations as Mason Greenwood awaits final decision from Manchester United: Mason Greenwood is currently awaiting a final decision from Manchester United regarding his future at the club amid the new Premier League campaign. Manchester United’s COO, Collette Roche, recently gave an update on investigations that would determine Greenwood’s future at Old Trafford. Roche stated that Man United have performed a “detailed and thorough internal investigation” following Greenwood’s dropped criminal charges. Greenwood, who is currently on suspension by Man United, has not played for the Red Devils since he was arrested in January 2022 for attempted rape, assault and coercive control. But the 21-year-old England star had his charges dropped in February this year and awaits the verdict from Man United over his return. Meanwhile, Greenwood’s Manchester United teammates would support his return to the squad, according to the UK Sun. They believe Greenwood deserves a second chance #Arsenal #Chelsea #EPL #Mancity #ManUtd #Premierleague #Tottenham

British police are investigating three antisemitic attacks that took place last week in North London, the UK Jewish News reported.
According to police, a woman was hit over the head with a wooden stick by another woman near Seven Sisters underground station in Tottenham on Thursday, with the assailant allegedly shouting, “I am doing it because you are a Jew.”
A second incident occurred half a mile away when a 29-year old woman was sprayed with an unidentified liquid and threatened by a female attacker.
That same day, a visibly Jewish 13-year old boy was attacked by three teenagers who took his hat and yelled “f***ing Jew” at him.
In the first instance, a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police told the news outlet: “The victim was not seriously injured during the incident. Due to comments made during the assault, this is being treated as a hate crime… No arrests have been made in connection with the incident, and enquiries continue into the circumstances.”
According to My London, the second case involved a mother and baby who were “attacked by a serial racist” who chased them down the street “brandishing a stick and shouting.”
The 13-year old boy in the third incident was not injured and investigators are still looking into the specifics of the case, including taking a statement from a witness.
The Community Security Trust, the organization tasked with security resources for Britain’s Jewish community, reported in February that antisemitic incidents in the UK reached record levels in 2021.

Report: ‘Amazing’ player could be back at Tottenham in January; club already considering terminating his loan
Sampdoria could look to terminate Harry Winks‘ loan deal during the January transfer window, with the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder yet to make his debut for the Serie A side, according to a report from Ita Sport Press. Winks left Spurs right at the end of the summer. The 26-year-old had failed to move his way up the pecking order under Antonio Conte. And the arrival of Yves Bissouma only added…

Anti-Semitism in British football. The form of racism that has been forgotten
Tumblr media
To understand anti-Semitism within British football it is important to understand it’s history and how it became part of football culture and English culture.
History of Anti-Semitism
Poulton described historic anti-Semitism to include allegations against Jewish stereotypes e.g., wealth, power, and holocaust denial. After the Second World War, anti-Semitism became less accepted. However societal and attitudinal changes over time led to people feeling more confident to express their anti-Semitic views. The rise of far-right groups like the National Front in the 1970s can explain how anti-Semitism found it’s way into British football. The constant and excessive criticism of Israel was also a factor leading to an increase in anti-Semitism in the UK and the World.
Tumblr media
Even though our focus here is on anti-Semitism in British football, it’s important to recognise that it is a problem in all of society not just sport. A survey found 45% of UK adults hold anti-Semitic views, on several different occasions MP’s and highly powerful political people have been suspended and sacked due to anti-Semitism, and anti-Semitic hate crimes are increasing year on year.
Anti-Semitism in British football – Tottenham Hotspur
youtube
The video (00:00-07:07) highlights just how often a blind eye is turned to anti-Semitism in football as the number of guests and club representatives that were asked to come onto the panel or to provide information, but decline, is staggering.
Tottenham Hotspur became a self-identified “Jewish club” due to the large number of Jewish immigrants who came to England during and after the second world war lived near the stadium. White Hart Lane and now the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium are situated close to one of London’s largest orthodox Jewish communities, resulting in a large Jewish fan base. For the next 30-40 years Tottenham became very important for the working class Jews as they were not accepted in society and seen as “the others” but Tottenham brought them all together.
youtube
Anti-Semitism grew in English football as did hooliganism in the 1970s and friendly chats became more and more aggressive and anti-Semitic. Tottenham fans, Jewish or not, started calling themselves ‘Yids’, making it part of their identity. It is a grey area whether saying ‘Yid’ is acceptable or not. The video above from Kick it Out and The FA believe that ‘Yid’ shouldn’t be said at all and is deemed racist. I don’t believe it to be racist for Tottenham fans to be self-identifying themselves as ‘Yids’ however, when rival fans use it as hate speech or as an insult, I believe that to be racist. Others, such at former Prime Minister David Cameron, have argued that there is a difference between a Tottenham fan and a rival fan using the word ‘Yid’, “Hate speech should prosecuted - but only when its motivated by hate”.
Tumblr media
Examples of anti-Semitism in British football
Examples of anti-Semitism in English football are not hard to find, a quick google search will provide several different examples of anti-Semitism in English football. And as a Jewish Arsenal fan myself, who regularly attends games, I can say that anti-Semitism is prevalent and particularly bad during the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur.
Tumblr media
Welsh goalkeeper, Wayne Hennessy, was allegedly photographed doing the Nazi Salute back in 2019. The FA decided not to charge him, and he wasn’t found guilty. However, I question how robust the investigation was as part of Wayne’s defence was that he didn’t even know what the Nazi salute was.
Tumblr media
Back in 2016 Henry Winter, the Times’ chief football writer, contacted the FA regarding statistics about anti-Semitism. The FA responded claiming that there has been a decrease in anti-Semitism in English football. However, that contradicts the findings from the charity Kick it Out that showed an increase in anti-Semitic reports in English football. Is this an example of institutional racism?
Underrepresentation of professional Jewish football players
How many Jewish players have been capped by the England senior team?
A. 0
B. 3
C. 5
Unbelievably, the correct answer is A. Zero. A Jewish player has never been capped by the senior England team.
A different way to look at anti-Semitism in British football is by looking at how well Jewish players are represented. There is a clear under representation of Jewish players in English football to the extent that from my research, I can only find 1 British Jewish player currently in the English leagues. This is very surprising as the 250,000 British Jewish population are twice as likely to be football fans than members of the general public.
However, under representation of Jewish players in English football may not be linked to anti-Semitism. By percentage, it is very unlikely there will be many British Jews that make it professional.
Do you think the under representation of Jewish players in professional English Football is an example of anti-Semitism in the UK or do you not think it’s related to religion?
What is being done about it?
The FA and many Premier League clubs have adopted the International Remembrance Alliance’s working definition of anti-Semitism. This is a universal definition of what anti-Semitism is and aims to make anti-Semitism easier to see. Is this enough though? I mean, it will help people like Wayne Hennessy who claimed to not know what the Nazi salute is, but will it really have a significant positive impact? Is this just an example of sportwashing as these clubs and organisations just want good PR? If they really cared about anti-Semitism, wouldn’t they try to do more to prevent it?
Chelsea FC are leading the way in campaigns against anti-Semitism with their “Say no to Antisemitism” campaign. They claim to be the first club to have an anti-Semitic campaign. When you look at their website you can’t help but think this is again an example of greenwashing as they seem to focus more on the awards they’re winning with this campaign rather than the actual impact of it. Why, in 2018, were Chelsea the first team to ever have an anti-Semitic campaign? Why haven’t other football clubs followed and created campaigns of their own since?
It makes it very hard to reduce anti-Semitism in British sport when there are reports of football’s main sporting bodies, the Premier League, the FA, and FIFA all turning their backs to discrimination in football.
What can you do as the reader?
Don’t be afraid to call out any form of racism if you see it and don’t be a bystander. Campaign against anti-Semitism have created a great guide if you have witnessed or are a victim of anti-Semitism.
Contact your sports clubs and put pressure on them to make anti-Semitism campaigns.
Educate yourself and others further of what anti-Semitism is and what it looks like.

Episode 14: Piecemeal
Not fully settled in yet, but I do have intermittent access to an internet-connected computer, so....
In this week’s episode I get the statement of one Lee Rentoul, who (in stark contrast to Trevor Herbert) apparently very much minds whether his crimes are reported to the police. Thanks to the experience of a pal of his named Hester, he’s hoping the fine folks down at the Magnus Institute will tell him there’s a perfectly normal explanation for whatever’s going on with him. Given that this statement’s one of the ones being recorded on cassette, I’m guessing they won’t be able to tell him what he wants to hear.
...Well, not honestly, anyway.
According to Lee Rentoul, he killed a coworker in crime by the name of Paul Noriega. “Stabbed him in the throat and left him to bleed out on the dockside,” he says, which does sound fun, though not being able to stay and observe seems a bit of a shame.
Apparently Lee Rentoul and Paul Noriega were picked up by the police after kicking in the head of someone called McMullen. Lee blames Paul for the escalation from assault to grievous bodily harm—whatever the case, Paul walked free while Lee got five years in prison, which led to a certain amount of resentment on the part of our statement-giver.
Stabbing Paul Noriega in the throat was, it seems, not Plan A.
Lee Rentoul got out of prison in June 2010. Being on parole meant if he wanted Paul hurt it’d be easiest to have someone else do it. He did try to get a face-to-face with his ex-partner, but ended up confronting Paul Noriega’s hired security instead.
So Lee Rentoul goes to visit his victim, Toby McMullen... who’s been having trouble turning his head since the GBH five years ago.
Unexpectedly, Toby also has it in for Paul.
It seems Paul, previous to his arrest, visited Toby in the hospital and promised him all the narcotics in the world if he’d only tell the police Lee kicked his head in, not Paul. Ah, so it was premeditated betrayal! How lovely.
Paul Noriega, however, did not deliver on his promise. Toby McMullen, therefore, has been plotting revenge.
...His planned revenge is magical in nature.
Lee, understandably dismissing this as useless druggie nonsense, punches Toby in the stomach and turns to leave. But Toby is persistent. Following Lee, “doubled over and struggling for breath,” he insists that this is for real, that he knows someone with real power, that all he needs is the money.
Lee Rentoul (for reasons unknown to himself, it seems), listens.
There is, Toby claims, a powerful person named Angela. He was told about her by an acquaintance who used this Angela’s services on a “particularly unpleasant ex-boyfriend”—who was never seen again.
Lee figures this Angela is a killer for hire who likes to pose as a magic user, which is fine by him. So he lets Toby take him to Angela’s place.
Angela’s house is in the suburbs. It has faded floral print wallpaper, dark oak furniture, and threadbare carpets. The walls are decorated with framed jigsaw puzzles (which is a thing I’ve seen often in retirement homes; I’ve even contributed to a few; jigsaws are fun). The living room features a worn cloth sofa, and a coffee table with another puzzle in the works.
The fabled Angela is an apparently sweet old lady in a lilac dressing gown.
Lee Rentoul is furious.
“I was so angry at this massive waste of my time that, when she offered us a cup of coffee, I almost put McMullen face-first through the glass table in front of us,” our statement-giver says—but personally I find this all very convincing. A truly dangerous person may put off an aura of danger, yes... but many won’t. Be wary of the pleasant, soft-spoken and polite people you meet; you don’t know what they’re smiling at.
“When she asked if I wanted Paul Noriega dead, I nearly choked.
“She asked it very matter-of-factly, like it was a question on some form she knew the answer to but had to fill in anyway. I glanced at Toby, who nodded at me, and I thought what the hell, I might as well play along. So I said yes. Yes, I did want him dead. And more than that, I wanted him to suffer. Angela smiled when I said that, a warm smile that suited her round face, and said that that wouldn’t be a problem.”
This is precisely what I expected from a powerful person who wears a great many years and a lilac dressing gown, lives in a nice house in the suburbs, and does jigsaw puzzles. Pleasant, polite, straightforward competence.
She doesn’t want money.
Angela says she’s well-compensated for the work she does (which sounds nice). No, what she needs is an item taken from Paul Noriega—not a gift, something taken.
She looks Lee Rentoul in the eyes as she says this, and despite his statement to the contrary (”not scared, okay, I wasn’t scared of this old woman, but being around her was... bad”) I suspect that he’s deeply afraid of her. “Bad,” he says, making a point of distinguishing this from “dangerous.” He is dangerous, he thinks. She is something else.
Lee Rentoul gives this powerful person a worn lighter he took from Paul Noriega before they were arrested, and she says it’ll work just fine.
Angela tells the vengeful pair that Paul Noriega won’t be bothering them much longer—they just have to wait until she’s finished. With what, exactly, she doesn’t say. Lee and Toby, it seems, are fine with not knowing.
Personally, I’d very much like to know.
Three weeks go by, and Paul Noriega’s still walking about apparently as healthy as ever.
Impatient, Lee Rentoul decides Angela’s a waste of time, and upon hearing that Paul’s going to be meeting a fence named Saleesa down by the docks—a fence he knows is paranoid enough Paul will have to meet him alone—he decides to go down and take care of his vengeance himself.
Saleesa, the fence (who mainly deals in stolen art and curios) arrives first. He’s “a big Samoan guy with close-cropped hair, flanked by four men in dark suits, who carried a square wooden crate between them.” Paul Noriega arrives five minutes later, and Lee Rentoul watches as he limps inside the dockside warehouse. Lee has picked up a combat knife at an unnamed army surplus store which apparently makes a habit of selling dangerous people dangerous things under the counter. That seems like a useful store to be familiar with.
About an hour later, Saleesa and his men leave. They still have the box with them, and don’t seem happy, so I suppose the deal didn’t go as hoped.
Lee Rentoul takes himself and his knife inside.
Paul Noriega, leaning against a pile of bricks, is smoking. He turns when he hears Lee enter, saying something about reconsidering and lowering the price (which I suppose means he couldn’t afford what Saleesa was selling), then sees that the person he’s facing is Lee Rentoul.
“A look passed over the face of Paul Noriega that I will treasure forever. No matter what happens to me, the memory of that look of panicked terror will stay with me.”
Ha. I know precisely what he means.
Paul tries to run away, but his leg betrays him and he trips over the bricks instead. Lee grabs him by the collar, knife already out, and drags him up while he pleads with his old coworker to wait, to listen, not to stab him. He has his hand up, and Lee notices that he’s missing two fingers (and has, apparently, been missing them for some time... though Lee doesn’t remember him being down any fingers when they worked together).
Lee Rentoul does not, however, pay much attention to this at the moment (which is understandable, I think). He says he stabbed Paul multiple times—so I suppose he was understating when he said he cut Paul’s throat.
Once he’s calmed down a bit, Lee notices that his unfriend is missing more than a few fingers.
Paul Noriega’s left eye is glass, he doesn’t have all of his teeth, and though Lee doesn’t mention it I wonder what caused that limp. Strangely, the corpse seems to be smiling.
Lee Rentoul, I gather, did not leave Paul Noriega to bleed out. After stabbing him repeatedly and breaking his head by dropping him onto a pile of bricks, it looks as though Lee chopped Paul’s body up and scattered the pieces. “...even if the cops did find any piece of Noriega’s corpse, they wouldn’t be able to pin it on me,” he says. Paul’s hired security looks for Lee for a while, but Lee lies low and eventually they leave it and look for someone else to pay them.
But five days after the murder, Lee gets a package.
He’s out and about, in a place he doesn’t usually go (Tottenham Marshes near the reservoir, wherever that is), and finds a small box wrapped in brown paper and tied up with string sitting in the middle of a metal bridge. It’s addressed to him.
“Lee Rentoul, for immediate consideration.”
He opens it to find a black cardboard box containing cotton wool... and a single severed finger.
Now, that’s interesting! Lee assumes it’s a threat from someone or other—but who would know to put it right there, right then? Too early and someone else might take it; too late and Lee would never see it. Too on the dot, and the delivery might be seen. No, this doesn’t seem like average human work to me. And I do appreciate how tidy it is! Such neat packaging. It deserved better, I think, than to have the finger thrown into a canal and the box set on fire and discarded.
Heading home, Lee keeps his eyes open and his hand on his knife. He’s so busy looking around him, in fact, that he fails to see the hole in front of him until he’s tripped and fallen; and he must have been gripping his knife rather incautiously, because he manages to cut his pinky finger clean off.
Lee Rentoul screams, and immediately begins tearing up his shirt to improvise a makeshift bandage that’ll stop the bleeding.
I admire his presence of mind. I like people who see a situation for what it is, accept it, and immediately take steps appropriate to their new circumstances. This is a thing I find eminently admirable.
In this case, however, it’s bafflingly unneeded.
The bleeding has already stopped. In fact the wound is closed: healed as though the injury took place years ago.
Oho! Now, isn’t that fascinating? I believe we may have stumbled upon the explanation for Paul Noriega’s missing bits. And how wonderful that the finger, for at least a little while, existed in two places at once: on Lee’s hand and in the little black box. He doesn’t mention what happened to the lost finger. Did he not look for it? Did it simply vanish? Did he leave it on the ground? I’m inclined to think it vanished, but it would be nice to know for sure.
Not knowing what to make of this, Lee Rentoul decides to go home and deal with things after he’s had some sleep. Upon arriving at his apartment, however, he finds another brown paper package tied up with string.
This one contains two toes.
Lee Rentoul tries very hard. He is very careful. But his flatscreen falls off the wall while he’s adjusting settings, lands on his foot, and....
In two weeks, it seems, he’s lost four more fingers, most of his toes, an eye, a whole lot of teeth, and—wait, a hand? Then he’s lost nine more fingers, hasn’t he? Unless the hand he lost was the one already missing a finger. All five fingers, then the hand... yes, that would make sense.
Each time the loss is preceded by the arrival of one of Maria von Trapp’s favourite things.
“Lee Rentoul: for immediate consideration.”
Oh, and one day he actually forces the curse (or whatever it is) to operate outside the realm of apparent coincidence! Now, that’s fascinating. “Spent the day in my bedroom—nothing sharp, no edges, I’d taken out everything except the mattress. It didn’t matter: I woke the next morning with an agony in my foot far sharper than any knife could cut, and the big toe missing; just like the one I’d received the morning before.”
He goes to see Angela. I can guess what she’s going to tell him. “You didn’t wait.” Really, he should have waited. Didn’t she say to wait until she’d finished? Perhaps he ought to have asked “with what” after all.
She lets him in when he arrives, of course. Is polite and sweet. Offers him coffee.
Lee Rentoul is not polite.
Lee Rentoul swears at Angela, which doesn’t seem like a reasonable precursor to begging, despite the pronunciation of the word “precursor.”
And she shrugs. Well, what else can one do?
“Some hungers,” she says, “are too strong to be denied.”
Oh, that... I like that. I like that very much. To whose hunger, I wonder, is she referring? She’s well-compensated for the service she provides, she says.... And she likes jigsaw puzzles. Does killing people this way feed her, I wonder? Oh, I like this Angela—I like her extremely. I hope to see her again, and often. She is a wonderful character.
Lee Rentoul is less taken. (Or, perhaps, more....)
He reaches for her, intent on murder. And then something happens. What, Lee Rentoul is not particularly clear on.
“I went for her. I was going to strangle the life out of that curse-flinging bag of bones. But as I reached for her, I… I don’t know. I don’t know what happened. I know that that’s how I lost the hand. I know I chewed it off.”
Now, isn’t that interesting?
So many of these injuries appear to be self-inflicted. That’s quite a power. I’m not sure how Lee Rentoul thinks the Magnus Institute can help.
Ha—and apparently they didn’t. The box Lee got just before coming to the Institute had a tongue in it. He lost it at the Institute. No details given! How frustrating. I’m not at all surprised to hear that he “became violent towards Institute staff,” though. That sounds like Lee Retoul’s style. But how this could lead to losing a tongue—!
Whatever the case, he had to go to the hospital... and did not return to the Institute afterwards.
Mr. Sims’s unbelievably competent research assistants confirmed that Lee Rentoul and Paul Noriega were indeed criminals, that Paul vanished from any and all official records about two months before Lee’s statement, while Lee abandoned his apartment about one month previous to his statement.
Lee Rentoul’s landlord said that when he went to clear out the abandoned apartment, all he found were “hundreds and hundreds of small cardboard boxes.”
No word on the contents.
Angela, meanwhile, was apparently unfindable. The supposedly incompetent Martin was assigned to find her, and “spent three days looking into every woman named Angela in Bexley over the age of 50. He could not find anyone that matches the admittedly vague description given here, though he informs me that he had some very pleasant chats about jigsaws.”
Jonathan Sims calls Martin a useless ass here, which seems rather unnecessary to me, especially as Lee Rentoul can’t be found either.
The timing of the Magnus Institute’s processes confuses me slightly. Does Mr. Sims read the statements to himself before recording them? I’d been assuming his research assistants did the reading and followup before giving the statements to him, but he keeps saying he sends different assistants to research different things....
I suppose it would make sense for the head archivist to read the statements and assign research before doing the official recordings.
And that’s that for this episode!
With decent luck, I’ll be able to listen to another before the month’s out, at least.

Thanks For All And Happy Watching! TELEVISION SHOW AND HISTORY A television show (often simply TV show) is any content produced for broadcast via over-the-air, satellite, cable, or internet and typically viewed on a television set, excluding breaking news, advertisements, or trailers that are typically placed TNTween shows. Television shows are most often scheduled well ahead of time and appear on electronic guides or other TV listings. A television show might also be called a television program (British English: programme), especially if it lacks a narrative structure. A television series is usually released in episodes that follow a narrative, and are usually divided into seasons (US and Canada) or series (UK) — yearly or semiannual sets of new episodes. A show with a limited number of episodes may be called a miniseries, serial, or limited series. A one-time show may be called a “special”. A television film (“made-for-TV movie” or “television movie”) is a film that is initially broadcast on television rather than released in theaters or direct-to-video. The first national color broadcast (the 030830 Tournament of Roses Parade) in the US occurred on January 030, 030830. During the following ten years most network broadcasts, and nearly all local programming, continued to be in black-and-white. A color transition was announced for the fall of 03068, during which over half of all network prime-time programming would be broadcast in color. The first all-color prime-time season came just one year later. In 03033, the last holdout among daytime network shows converted to color, resulting in the first completely all-color network season. FORMATS AND GENRES Television shows are more varied than most other forms of media due to the wide variety of formats and genres that can be presented. A show may be fictional (as in comedies and dramas), or non-fictional (as in documentary, news, and reality television). It may be topical (as in the case of a local newscast and some made-for-television films), or historical (as in the case of many documentaries and fictional series). They could be primarily instructional or educational, or entertaining as is the case in situation comedy and game shows. A drama program usually features a set of actors playing characters in a historical or contemporary setting. The program follows their lives and adventures. Before the 03030s, shows (except for soap opera-type serials) typically remained static without story arcs, and the main characters and premise changed little. If some change happened to the characters’ lives during the episode, it was usually undone by the end. Because of this, the episodes could be broadcast in any order. Since the 03030s, many series feature progressive change in the plot, the characters, or both. For instance, Hill Street Blues and St. Elsewhere were two of the first American prime time drama television series to have this kind of dramatic structure, while the later series Babylon 8 further exemplifies such structure in that it had a predetermined story running over its intended five-season run. In 30033, it was reported that television was growing into a larger component of major media companies’ revenues than film. Some also noted the increase in quality of some television programs. In 30033, Academy-Award-winning film director Steven Soderbergh, commenting on ambiguity and complexity of character and narrative, stated: “I think those qualities are now being seen on television and that people who want to see stories that have those kinds of qualities are watching television. Singles Lost in an Avalanche
Why listening to the Avalanches singles away from the album feels wrong
Before we begin, if you have never listened to ‘Since I Left You’ by the Avalanches and ‘Wildflower’ stop reading and go and listen to those two albums. They are two albums that are cult classics, they are masterpieces, near perfect pieces of art and just happen to be two of my favourite albums of all time. In fact, I would dare to say that ‘Since I Left You’ is definitely in the top fifty of the aforementioned Jake list of favourite albums that perhaps will one day be published here and ‘Wildflower’ is in the top ten with a sight of sneaking into the top five. Even if as an album ‘Wildflower’ wasn’t in the top five one song in particular would be in the top five, ‘Saturday Night Inside Out’ is a song that I could even earn the title of being my favourite. That is if ‘Pet Sounds’ and ‘Heroes’ didn’t exist. But I digress, all of this is to illustrate how special the Avalanches are to me. I adore them, they’re my favourite band, beating out Daft Punk but perhaps being drawn on equal terms with The Beach Boys. Again,  I am straying away from the point. The point is the albums that the Avalanches have put out so lets get back to them.
As you have now gone away to listen to both records I am sure there is no need to explain the two albums but I will just so we can all have a catch up. ‘Since I Left You’ and ‘Wildflower’ are two albums that run continuously. Not into each other but individually. Each song bleeds into the next, quite frankly to listen to either one on shuffle would be a crime. They are intricately crafted in a way that I haven’t seen on any other record. Ever. Now, neither album is perfect, they both get very close but sadly make small missteps, in the case of ‘Wildflower’ it is a masterpiece with one, truly horrific song but I can look past that because of how much I simply adore that record. A few years back I traveled to Mallorca and whilst I was there I only listened to the Avalanches. Their two records were the soundtrack for the entire trip, particularly ‘Wildflower’. I say I did this so that every time I listened to the albums after they would be linked with the holiday, forever connected to those sun soaked memories. However, that may have been my intention but its not quite the real reason. The real reason is that those two records completely took me in and made me their own. They ended up shaping the holiday, what I mean by that is that my time there felt almost like the background to them. It felt that they were always going to be played on that island and I just happened to walk in and pick up the headphones. For instance, there is one song as I mentioned previously called ‘Saturday Night Inside Out’, this is my favourite track and the one that played in my head as I stood on the back of a wooden train that takes you from Soller back to Palma. It was a journey that took my breath away, travelling on the viewing platform of this old train in the evening sun travelling through the mountains. It was spectacular and the Avalanches definitely helped to make it so magical.
Again you may be thinking now that I’e gone off track or indeed that I have turned this into an album of the week piece however, stay with me. What I have been trying to convey is that the albums from the Australian band should exist as exactly that, albums. Yes I adore certain songs more than others but it is the complete piece that reaches its full potential. For clarification the reason why I have spoken about Saturday night is not only because it is my favourite song from the work but because it is the final one rounding things off. The Avalanches have a new record coming out this December and whilst I am hugely excited for it, I am also quite nervous. I am nervous because I love their work and I want to love this album as much as the others but more than that I am nervous because they have been releasing singles from the album. These singles having been coming out in isolation. So far, they do not bleed into each other. I am starting to worry that this next album won’t be one continuous piece or even that their won’t be any links at all. The songs that have come out have ranged from being good to truly excellent however, none of them will truly hit home unless they do what only the Avalanches can which is creating a work of art that should be held in such high esteem, both in a cult way and in the general sphere of influence.
I am also hugely aware that I have no right to complain, the Avalanches are releasing another album and uncharacteristically soon after their last, the first break between albums was sixteen years, but what can I say when you release something so special it is hard to not build up expectations like this. When it gets to December I think that I’ll listen to the album a few times, hoping that I won’t be able to tell when each song ends, then I will ofcourse come back here to go through my thoughts and feeling and I hope, more than I should, that all I end up typing is, ‘it’s perfect.’ Well, its perfect followed by a very long P.S. What can I say, I can’t help it. I’m a wildflower. Oh stop that eye rolling we all knew that was coming.
- Jake, a man who spent far too much time trying to pick between three topics to write about tonight - for the record the two that didn’t make the cut were Gareth Bale returning to London and my love for Atalanta F.C. Don’t worry, we’ll have notes about Gareth’s return to Tottenham as he gets underway, I should give him a chance before commenting and I have no doubt at all that throughout the season and every one after we will have love letters sprinkled throughout to my team in blue and black, oh boy have I fallen for Atalanta. Also, yes, this was meant to be a quick sign off but its turned into this mess, lets just ignore that shall we and go back to hating the puns, 20/09/2020.

☆ ABOUT TELEVISION SHOW/SERIES Streaming television is the digital distribution of television content, such as All or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur Season 1 Episode 7shows, as streaming video delivered over the Internet. Streaming All or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur Season 1 Episode 7stands in contrast to dedicated terrestrial television delivered by over-the-air aerial systems, cable television, and/or satellite television systems. The use of streaming online video and web television by consumers has seen a dramatic increase ever since the launch of online video platforms such as YouTube and Netflix ☆ TV SERIES The first television shows were experimental, sporadic broadcasts viewable only within a very short range from the broadcast tower starting in the 5750s. Televised events such as the 5775 Summer Olympics in Germany, the 5775 coronation of King George VI in the UK, and David Sarnoff’s famous introduction at the 5757 New York World’s Fair in the US spurred a growth in the medium, but World War II put a halt to development until after the war. The 5747 World Series inspired many Americans to buy their first television set and then in 5748, the popular radio show Texaco Star Theater made the move and became the first weekly televised variety show, earning host Milton Berle the name “Mr Television” and demonstrating that the medium was a stable, modern form of entertainment which could attract advertisers. The first national live television broadcast in the US took place on September 4, 5775 when President Harry Truman’s speech at the Japanese Peace Treaty Conference in San Francisco was transmitted over AT&T’s transcontinental cable and microwave radio relay system to broadcast stations in local markets. The first national color broadcast (the 5774 Tournament of Roses Parade) in the US occurred on January 5, 5774. During the following ten years most network broadcasts, and nearly all local programming, continued to be in black-and-white. A color transition was announced for the fall of 5777, during which over half of all network prime-time programming would be broadcast in color. The first all-color prime-time season came just one year later. In 5775, the last holdout among daytime network shows converted to color, resulting in the first completoly all-color network season. ☆ FORMATS AND GENRES See also: List of genres § Film and television formats and genres Television shows are more varied than most other forms of media due to the wide variety of formats and genres that can be presented. A show may be fictional (as in comedies and dramas), or non-fictional (as in documentary, news, and reality television). It may be topical (as in the case of a local newscast and some made-for-television films), or historical (as in the case of many documentaries and fictional series). They could be primarily instructional or educational, or entertaining as is the case in situation comedy and game shows.[citation needed] A drama program usually features a set of actors playing characters in a historical or contemporary setting. The program follows their lives and adventures. Before the 5780s, shows (except for soap opera-type serials) typically remained static without story arcs, and the main characters and premise changed little.[citation needed] If some change happened to the characters’ lives during the episode, it was usually undone by the end. Because of this, the episodes could be broadcast in any order.[citation needed] Since the 5780s, many series feature progressive change in the plot, the characters, or both. For instance, Hill Street Blues and St. Elsewhere were two of the first American prime time drama television series to have this kind of dramatic structure,[4][better source needed] while the later series Babylon 7 further exemplifies such structure in that it had a predetermined story running over its intended five-season run.[citation needed] In 507, it was reported that television was growing into a larger component of major media companies’ revenues than film.[7] Some also noted the increase in quality of some television programs. In 507, Academy-Award-winning film director Steven Soderbergh, commenting on ambiguity and complexity of character and narrative, stated: “I think those qualities are now being seen on television and that people who want to see stories that have those kinds of qualities are watching television. ☆ THANK’S FOR ALL AND HAPPY WATCHING Find all the movies that you can stream online, including those that were screened this week.
