Guess who's about to turn 17! (April 29) This baby!

My cat Malva is three years old today (according to her Ukrainian pet passport)! Born in Donetsk, was surrendered to a shelter in Kyiv, then went to Munich in a van full of dogs, with some cat carriers stuffed in between the dog crates. She was in her carrier for four days on end and now hates having to be in a box.

However, by now, she has been with me almost as long as she has been anywhere else combined. I'm trying to do that rescue cat thing for her where I love and spoil her so much she forgets she came from a war zone, and life was ever horrible.

She also likes to eat eat eat (wet food). Pepper’s ataxia is moderate+, but she gets around just fine. Me: Yes it is. *retrieves the little 1x2 inch faux fur mouse from its bed in the cat food dish*

Phoebe: Oh!!!!!!

Me: Get it *throws it into the hall*

Phoebe: Yaaaaaay yay yay yay *grabs it, tosses it around a couple times, carries it to the fridge*

Me: Noooo. if you put it under the fridge it's gone forever.

Phoebe: *juggles the mouse* But. Put toy under food machine, you move food machine, hundred toy comes out.

Me: No. There's a reason I put a card oard wedge under the fridge at home. Bring me toy. C'mon.

Phoebe: Oh :( okay :( *drops it at my feet*

Me: Good job. Get it! *throws it the opposite direction*

Phoebe: Heheheheheee yaaay *retrieves it, carries it past me*

Me: *looking at my phone for a moment, while she's in my peripheral vision*

Phoebe: hehehe Dad isn't looking. Quick! *shoves toy under the fridge*

Me: What. Did you just --

Phoebe: Where's the toy???? :((((

Me: It's dead now. it's gone forever. I can't move the fridge. You know this. We've had this conversation five hundred times.

Phoebe: Toyyyyyyy T_T

Me: Material Consequences!

Phoebe: You're not my real dad. HAZEL. DADDY STOLE MY TOYyyyyuhuhuhuuu T_T

Compared to being the “Pitbull” of cats���well now I have both. Sweetest pets I’ve ever owned, I find them both to be endearing.

BEAUTIFUL BONNIE!

This is Bonnie. She's 1 year 3 months-old and sponsored by Mary DeVincenzi. SNAP Cats rescued Bonnie from Kings County (CA). When Bonnie first arrived with her brother, Clyde, they were very bonded. Since then, the two have gradually de-bonded (there’s that word again!), so, although we’d like to see the two adopted together, Bonnie and Clyde can go separately if needed. Bonnie can be a bit skittish to begin with, but once she gets to know you she’ll warm up quickly, especially if there’s wet food involved! Despite missing a back paw, Bonnie gets around great. Her leg stays sore-free, so it shouldn’t be an issue in the future. She did have a hematoma on her ear, thus the crinkling, but it’s healed, and we think adds a bit of character.
