Torgos platycephalus Gorbatcheva & Zelenkov, 2024 (new species)

Meaning of name: platycephalus = flat head [in Greek]

Age: Pleistocene (Late Pleistocene)

Where found: Binagadi, Baku, Azerbaijan

How much is known: A partial skull and a left tarsometatarsus (fused ankle and foot bones). It is unknown whether these bones belonged to the same individual.

Notes: The genus Torgos contains only one extant species, the lappet-faced vulture (T. tracheliotos), a large vulture found in Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. As its name suggests, T. platycephalus primarily differs from T. tracheliotos in details of its skull anatomy, including having a slightly more flattened skull. Along with the remains of an indeterminate Torgos species from the Pleistocene of China, T. platycephalus shows that this genus was more widely distributed in the past than it is today.

Before she is beheaded. Of course Game of Thrones completely and utterly fails Dany, Missandei, and Greyworm whereas Black Sails definitely does not fail James x Thomas x Miranda. But I'm chewing over this and spiraling a little. Why is Black Sails always writing Game of Thrones so much better?
