Here’s a clip from the show I saw last Sunday, Sobs at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn.   The uploader (joelrchan) has 2 more clips.  He was right up front, me and my brother were in the back. 

It was a full house in a small venue, great atmosphere. Louder than I expected, too. :O

I updated my previous post on the show with a bit more detail, incl. a setlist link and a photo of both bands (Sobs & Mei Semones) together backstage. (by ‘backstage’ I mean in the restaurant area of the venue. Merch table was in that area.

One more thing I saw on IG, Sobs had a substitute drummer (Jake Villarreal from the Austin band Glaze) for at least one set at SXSW; no idea why Shaun Khiu wasn’t on the kit, maybe he had to return early to Singapore?  (Oh, I see Shaun posted a photo from Sydney, Australia a few days ago, perhaps that trip was planned before the sxsw dates were finalized?)

UPDATE: Just noticed this Topshelf Records twitter post from Feb. 6th:

We're very happy to finally be able to stock the discography of sadly short-lived Philadelphia group blue smiley thanks to new LP and CD reissues out via Topshelf Records

A shop favourite over the past few years, their concise pop-driven take on lo-fi fuzzy shoegaze indie-rock results in short, snappy earworms that demand repeated listens and consistently have people in-store asking "Who's this?"

The band only released 2 albums before songwriter Brian Nowell sadly passed away in 2017, but with renewed online interest and physical editions back in print, their legacy is now rightfully immortalized.

The Elephant Gym sxsw page is HERE, but it doesn’t have any dates listed yet.  I think they are playing a Taiwan Night and a Topshelf Records showcase?  Or maybe what they mean is that they will be the TW representative act at the Topshelf showcase? Anyway, the Topshelf Instagram hasn’t posted anything, but I know some of their acts are playing sxsw, including Sobs from Singapore. By the way, Sobs tour poster has the wrong date listed for Brooklyn - it’s actually on Sunday, March 12 (not the 10th.  They are supposed to play a set at New Colossus festival in NYC on the 10th, but no venue details have been posted yet. 椅子樂團 The Chairs (TW) and Shanghai Qiutian 上海秋天 (China) are also listed for the fest. which runs March 8-12)

the sxsw showcase schedule has all the bands listed, but no dates announced. Check it out HERE.

The song Shell is on their 2018 Underwater album, sung by Cudjiy Ija karivuwan. Bandcamp album page doesn’t list the lyrics, but it sounds like an indigenous language or dialect.  I’ve tried every search I can think of, but I can’t find Cudjiy Ija karivuwan under that name.
