Oh my goodness, thank you bby!! Y'all are gonna hear about Shanks today lmfao. Most of this is gonna be under a readmore bc I've never been able to be succinct but here we goooooo!

2. Favorite canon thing about this character?

I love how careful he is about when and how he flexes all that power he has. It was meant to be very on the nose when we were introduced to him via Luffy in the very beginning of the series, but like. His little episode on Whitebeard's ship seemed like he had conqueror's haki out of control, but it was a very purposeful flex, if for nothing else than to show that he took approaching another Yonko seriously. Or the way he chose to handle Greenbull at the end of Wano. Sure it was hard to the new folks on his crew to handle exposure so suddenly, but he sent that like 50 miles out from the ship and hit that jerk in the heart with it. And never even raised his voice about it. Idk I think his restraint and how it manifests is a really interesting part of his characterization.

4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?

it's probably on my mind bc of Bernard Hill's recent passing, but I think Shanks would do so well and have a grand old time being elusive and mysterious in Lord of the Rings lmfao. He's got that Aragorn quality of could be in his 20s could be in his 40s who knows, he and Gandalf would probably get a kick out of each other, he'd fucking love the hobbits I am telling you this. (he also, I am very afraid, has that Aragorn quality of 'doomed by the narrative just not quite yet,' but we'll see.)

6. What's something you have in common with this character?

this is hard, I think he's a much more complex and interesting person than I am for the most part, but like. I think it's safe to say he'd mostly rather diffuse a situation than have it become serious when the latter is avoidable, and I am that way too. If the situation is already serious and requires a throw down response that's a different matter, but if we can avoid a serious fight in favor of a little tussle and some drinks, that'd be the way he'd go, and I agree.

8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?

take this one with a grain of salt bc I mostly try not to yuck anyone's yum or argue about differing headcanons, but I really do not fucking like the like. scumbag/villain!Shanks thing that seems to have a semi-popular following. some of that is personal bias, as I think he is a warm, good person who is doing his best, but it also kind of feels like a betrayal of the narrative for him. which I realize is funny coming from the "everything is made up including the source material" guy but here we are. there was a period a few months ago where people were basically just writing him as OP Toji and it made me want to pull all my hair out.

10. Could you be best friends with this character?

absolutely, I adore him, I think he's right about a lot of things, our ethics tend to line up where it matters, I think he's funny and would be fun to be around, he listens well and is a warm and compassionate person. I really like him and we'd get along really well I think. (mostly probably through the lens of my OC bc I'm not like. terribly convinced of my actual in person IRL likeability but in theory, absolutely yes.)

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?

I've written about it a little before, but I think the reason he let Buggy go without telling him what Roger talked to him about after the execution wasn't because he didn't want Buggy with him anymore or didn't believe he had what it took to complete that mission, but so that Buggy would have a chance to forge his own way and have his own life. Doing what Roger asked necessitated Shanks--who was widely regarded as having the potential to be the next big legend--to drop out of the running almost entirely. He picked up his crew, he made a name for himself, he became the youngest person (at the time) to gain the title of Yonko, but he also spent a decent amount of time having to like. Lay low on beaches and dick around in the East Blue and play balance keeper and chess master until the man Roger was waiting for appeared. There are more spoilery additions to this that I'll leave out for now but yeah. I think he knew Buggy had all that same potential, and wanted to give him an opportunity to strike out on his own adventure without living in that shadow or carrying their mentor's ghost around.

14. Assign a fashion aesthetic to this character.

oh take this one with a grain of salt too idk that I know any of the terms correctly lmfao but he's very like. when I picture boho in my mind that seems very him. a lot of linens a lot of light flowy breathable clothes. It's pirate!Boho obviously but like. The man is out there wearing birkenstocks as we speak js.

16. What's your least favorite ship for this character?

same standard issue disclaimer as the fandom stuff I don't like, this isn't to yuck anyone's yum, follow your bliss what people ship isn't my business, these are just the ones I personally do not like. shankslu is at the forefront, but I don't really do shanksbenn either?? a LOT of captains and first mates in this series read that way to me but those two don't for me.

18. How about a relationship they have in canon with another character that you admire?

I actually really enjoy his dynamic with Marco. There are some interesting pieces of shared history there but overall the like. Friendly ribbing, amiable hanging out and willingness to cooperate between two of my faves is always very nice to see. c:

20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?

oh please I think he'd think Sabo was a ton of fun. I know there's an age difference there that makes peership a little different than between the other mid-40s dudes he usually hangs out with, but think about it. Two very powerful people who are carrying the weight of part of this new era on their shoulders, who have a habit of just sort of fucking off out of the narrative and doing things as they please within their own personal parameters, who will just get up and obliterate a guy when that's what the situation calls for? Funny, weird, intelligent guys that love Luffy, believe in him, and want whats best for him? Even if they weren't besties, I think there's a lot of fun overlap for general friendship there.

22. If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to this character? Something you don't like?

something I like: when people recognize that all that soft puppy silly goofy guy exterior, while sincerely part of him, is something that he makes the decision to externalize every day, and is sat atop a deep well of like. sadness and responsibility. there are a lot of people doing a very good job making him a romantic dopey nightmare man without sacrificing that silliness or his intelligence and sense of personal responsibility.

something I don't like: when people start a fic with the disclaimer "Shanks is in here but I hate him lol so he's a lil ooc 🤭🤪" and then he's like. not only ooc but just someone's ex boyfriend or doflamingo or just off-screen doing heinous shit for no reason. Writing a character you hate: can be fun and compelling! I fucking hate Doflamingo, for example, but as a narrative device, as a villain? bar none one of the best and most interesting. Writing a character you hate with the intention of doing a shit job because you hate them? dumb, annoying, and a waste of everyone's time. why include someone you don't want to write about lmfao just pick a different character and be done.

24. What other character from another fandom of yours that reminds you of them?

i'm drawing a blank, I'm going to be real with you. Like, I can think of a ton of mentor characters, but they don't really remind me of him. I can think of a bunch of like. guardian of the new era characters, that still don't super remind me of him. I think again i've got LOTR on the brain rn but the like. Fellowship of the Ring Aragorn is the closest I'm coming up with and even that's mostly in terms of like. the gentle mentorship of the hobbits, the offbeat sense of humor, and that dedication to a responsibility that he might have been scared to face. IDK. Shanks is a pretty unique guy to me. I'm sure I'm gonna sit bolt upright at 3 AM with a list of 20 people that fit the bill but rn it simply isn't clicking lmfao.

Kafka in his Kaiju form is currently losing his mind after he ended up getting seperated from Rider and Mizutsune after a brawl with some Ant type Kaiju.

Kafka: I lost them, I can't believe I lost my welp ( doesn't realize he called Rider his welp) oh no oh no oh no. What would Reno say?!

Imaginary Reno: Your the worst parent I ever seen, how do you lose a someone in Samurai armor and there giant soap serpent!

Kafka: GAAAHAAA I need to find them NOW!!!!

Meanwhile

Rider: Well we did good Mizutsune that's all of those ants, now let's head on back I'm sure Kafka finished off those other Kaiju.

Getting on top of Mizutsune ready to head back when a voice stops them

???: Hold on now, leaving already I just got here kid

Turning to face the voice there met with a Defense Force agent standing at about 5 ft and 5 or 8 inches, along with dark violet hair in a bowl cut, and eyes that seemed like they were closed.

Rider: Ohhh that's not good * clears throat and starts taking in a deep voice* Who you callin' kid I will have you know that I'm a - * Voice Crack* grown up

???:.....HAHAHAHAHAHA OH OH THAT'S SO FUNNY, TRYING TO PUFF OUT YOUR CHEST TO SEEM TOUGH ONLY TO SQUEAK LIKE A MOUSE HAHAHAHAHAHA.

Rider: HEY THERE AIN'T NO NEED TO LAUGH!!!

???: HAHAHA...HAHahaHa...ooohhh man your a riot, anyway I suppose it's rude if I don't introduce myself Vice-Captain Soshiro Hoshina of the Third Divison and I'm gonna hafta ask that you and your Kaiju friend come with us kiddo.

Rider: And if I refuse to go with you?

Hoshina: * Eyes sharpen a bit* Well as much as I would hate it, I'd have to use a more agressive method.

Rider: * Thoughts* What do I do, he primed to launch himself at us, I could get away if I can just get a couple seconds on him, but how...! Wait there is one way.

Rider: * Lets out a small whisper that only Mizustune picks up* Hmmph it seems I'm out of options, well then it's time for my secret technique.

Hoshina: Oh pray tell what is this secret technique you speak of.

Rider: One that only the most renowned warriors use, only the strongest and most cunning can use this technique.

Hoshina: Please I can't take the suspence won't you tell me * Slightly on guard*

Rider: Hmmph hmmhmm.... * Immediately gives Mizutsune the signal* RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!

Needless to say that Hoshina was not expecting that and had the added bonus of turning his sense of humor aganist him as he was in stiches laughing.

Rider and Mizutsune made their escape around a half hour chase though neither Rider or Hoshina had a good couple hours ahead of them. For Rider it was a never ending lecture about wandering off without Kafka knowing where to find him. For Hoshina it was trying to do anything and not fall over or drop something as the bubblefoam took hours to get rid off, seriously he couldn't even hold a cup

A little scenario for our favorite Vice-Captain's first meeting with the problem child

Kafka just panicking so badly cause he lost his kids that he didn't realized he called them 'his whelp' sounds like something he would do. Also Hoshina's weakness: his strange sense of humor. He definitely regretted falling for that little trick as Mizutsune only needs a few seconds to set up the Bubblefoam antics.

At least he got a sample of the stuff but I just imagine crashing into walls in an attempt to keep his balance. Dude doesn't know how to handle Bubbleblight at all and it's a real nightmare for speed demons like him. Hoshina is gonna adapt his strategy whenever pursuing Rider though.

The two got a few more chases left.

This fic is the stupidest thing i've ever written and i love it passionately.

I wrote a bunch of future chapters months ago and just started working on the middle ones so if anything doesnt make sense it's probably cuz i forgot what i wrote before lmfao

Chapter 9: Portals and shit

- “I was not allowed to watch them,” said Bunny, reaching into the bag of Cheetos. “My mom said they open portals, or invite spiritual shit to come into your house, so I never really got into them. Catch!” he yelled, throwing one cheeto at me, or near me, really. The cheeto flew past me, and hit the tree behind me, then fell to the grass.

- “You have the shittiest aim I’ve ever seen,” I laughed, reaching into the bag myself. “My mom used to say the same thing, but that never stopped me from watching every horror movie I could get my hands on. Catch!” I yelled, tossing the cheeto at Bunny a lot more gracefully than he had. He caught it effortlessly with his mouth.

- “Maybe you just suck at catching them, have you considered that?” he raised his eyebrows at me, defiantly. “I don’t know, the only one I remember ever seeing is Sleepy Hollow at a friend’s house when I was 11 and it scared the crap out of me,” he said, pushing the bag of cheetos to the side and laying down on the blanket. He scooched closer, laying his head on my lap and closing his eyes.

- “Seriously? An animated Disney movie scared the crap out of you?” I asked, mindlessly playing with a short strand of his hair. I always thought I was uncomfortable with physical touch, hugs never came naturally to me, casual touches from people always startled me and caught me off guard. I’d never gotten very close to anyone before though. When Camilla started hugging me every time she saw me, I had my initial startled reaction the first few times. It started feeling more natural quite fast though, and the next thing I knew, I was hugging her just as much as she was hugging me. By the time Bunny and I were comfortable enough around each other for casual physical touch, I was already used to it from Cam.

- “What? No! The one with Johnny Depp and that creepy guy with the pointy teeth!” he burst out laughing, but his eyes remained closed.

- “Oh. Yeah, that makes sense. Even I have to admit that one is pretty scary,” I conceded. I had begun braiding random strands of his hair. “But c’mon, you were 11! What are you now, like 23? I’m sure you can handle a horror movie now. Please? For me?” I begged, softly pulling one of the braids to annoy him.

- “Ouch! You know I have a sensitive scalp, you fuck!” he swatted my hand away playfully. “Fine, I’ll watch a horror movie with you. Just, please choose something mild for my sake. No Sleepy Hollow just yet,” he gave me an imploring smile. "And will there be alcohol?" he quickly added.

- “Of course there'll be alcohol, the fuck do you think I am?" I chuckled, rolling my eyes. "I promise we’ll start with something chill and ease you into the scarier stuff,” I gave his chest a reassuring pat, happy I was finally going to introduce him to one of my favorite things ever.

- “Fine, I’ll be over later tonight then so you can torture me,” he sighed, getting up and brushing small bits of dry leaves off his clothes. He gave me a quick smile before walking away, towards his last class of the day.

I chuckled, looking at the small braids bouncing on his head with each step he took.

- "So, you sleep with him already?" Judy asked, laying on my bed as I cleaned my room and picked stuff up from the floor.

- "Once again, no I did not. He's my best friend. Nothing more," I reply calmly. Judy asks the same question periodically, sure that the answer will be yes someday.

- "Thought I was your best friend," she said, rolling her eyes. "But still, I mean, you hang out with him pretty much everyday, you're always all over each other, don’t you fall asleep speaking on the phone most nights? He's coming over soon to 'watch a horror movie' just the two of you, alone in your room. That's the universal code for 'we're gonna fuck'." She looks up at me, clearly exasperated.

- "People can be friends and not fuck each other, Judes," I give her a quick smile, while putting a bunch of mismatched socks into a drawer.

- "Sure. People can. Not you two, though. Everyone can tell you're very much into each other," Judy replies, lazily scrolling through Instagram on her phone.

- "Well, I'm sorry to disappoint but I think you're very wrong on this one, babes," I shrug, looking around at the slightly less messy room.

- "It's just a matter of time, mark my words," she says with an air of finality and gets up from the bed. "See you later, I gotta go to rehearsal" she slips out of my room, leaving me alone with my thoughts.

I'd be lying if i said Judy's words don't rattle me every now and then. Of course I've considered the possibility of me and Bunny, after all, it was my initial fascination with him that started all my friendships with the Greek class. But we have been friends for months. He quickly grew into one of my closest friends ever, and he has never tried anything with me, so he's clearly not interested like that, so dwelling on these thoughts and letting them develop into actual feelings would be masochistic. Plus, if I tried anything and it wasn't reciprocated, it could ruin my other friendships too, and I simply cannot lose Cam, or Francis.

I definitely can't lose Bunny.

Nope.

Better to leave things as they are, and not dwell on it.

The knock on my door gets me out of my head. I shake the last of the thoughts away and open the door. I'm relieved to feel no butterflies when I see him smiling at me. I only see my dear friend, and smile back. I need to stop letting Judy get in my head.

- "I hope you're ready for this," I say, stepping aside to welcome him into my room. He raises an eyebrow, and walks in.

- "Well damn, I thought we were only watching a movie, but if you have other plans..." he winks at me as he walks past me towards my bed. I drown the small flutter I feel in my stomach at the suggestion with a quick laugh. Damn you, Judy. "Seriously, though, you didn't choose a super scary one, did you?" the look of genuine concern in his eyes makes me burst out laughing. Any trace of butterflies forgotten, as I comfortably slip into our usual bantering dynamic.

- "Of course not, I don't want you peeing my bed..." I roll my eyes, walking towards the desk to retrieve my laptop.

He gets comfortable on my bed, his back resting against the wall. I grab a couple of beers from the minifridge and join him, placing the laptop on my lap, hit play, and lean my head on his shoulder. A new little ritual is added to the list. Monday nights were for watching a horror movie.

All these little rituals I had with both Bunny and Cam were taking up a lot of my time. Between going to random courses with Cam, trying restaurants and watching movies with Bunny, our little book club meetings the three of us, and all the activities in between with the other guys, I was legit spending almost every single day with the Greek class. Almost.

Every Sunday night they all sort of disappeared. As I spent the day hiking on Sundays, and Cam only joined my hikes occasionally, most Sundays I wouldn’t see any of them at all. I asked Bunny a couple times about it, but he’d just shrug and say they were busy with some project for Julian or something, so I stopped pushing and eventually accepted that’s just something they did.

(3. When did you get together in your shipping canon?)

oliver met both boys at around the same time, but met childe first ! (id say about a month before meeting kaeya)...so maybe 10-12 months? oli had her heart closed off for a long while, its a miracle they made their way into it in just that amount of time <//3

(6. Who made the first move?)

the boys did !! obviously. oliver avoided them when she realized she caught feelings (she fell first, and fell way too hard <//3). it took her younger sister setting her up to be cornered by the boys for her to get her shit together

(7. What was your first date like?)

kaeya took them both on a little date that consisted of walking around mondstat, then they went out for drinks to a restaurant before heading home !

(8. When did you first say "I love you" to each other?

i feel childe was the first to say it to both kaeya and oliver, and he says it a lot! it didn't take long for kaeya to follow after, but it did take quite some time for oliver to even say "love" to either of them..."some time" as in a few months (unspecified amount), much to the boys' disappointment. but, she did end up saying she loved them eventually--as a shy little slip. they were ecstatic (especially because of how embarrassed she was afterkjkdfj)

(11. First impressions of each other?)

oliver hated childe LMFAO enemies to lovers !! they met through the traveller, and she immediately hated him upon finding out he was apart of the fatui--a harbinger no less. always glaring at him, being aggressive (not passive-aggressive. just aggressive.), always trying to put him down, absolutely demolishing him if he got too close or touchy... childe, being him, took this as a challenge to get under her skin a lot more >:)) especially because of how strong she was??? ma'am.

oliver waltzed into kaeya's office and (at first, nicely) demanded for information the knights were gatekeeping, and eventually got fed up with his kaeyaness and tomfoolery and stole the documents lol. he didn't find her til about a week later when she acted like she had no idea who he even was (average oliver girlbossing activities)

(14. What initially attracted you to them versus what they were attracted to?)

shes convinced shes into dumbasses/j LMAO but no fr, for childe; it was how stubborn (never gonna get this out of her yourself) and family-orientated he was. she puts her family above everything else, too, willing to do anything it takes for them, and it's not so often she meets people who do the same for theirs. especially not a harbinger of all people. perhaps she's made judgements about his character too soon?

and for kaeya, it has to be just how deep his character actually is. not only that, but, like childe, he reminds her some of amethyst and her character...except he's more closed off and masked. it was something in her that wanted to get to know him behind to mask, rather than what he showed. she didn't know or understand why, she just did.

as for what attracted them to her, for childe; it had to be how "hard-to-get" she always was -- especially around him. not only that, but, of course, her strength. he finds her as someone worth fighting, and always tried to get her to spar with him every chance he could. he was surprised when she gave criticism the first time, even though she was pretty mean with it, practically insulting his every move and breath. still, she somehow managed to help him improve, so why wouldn't he be attracted to her?

as for kaeya; i feel it had to be how mysterious she actually was on the inside,, just like him. he knew, when he first met her, there was more to her than meets the eye--more than just some strong, stoic woman playing hard-to-get with everyone she came across that tried their luck. it was like the hurt little boy inside him felt the presence of a hurt little girl deep inside herself, and wanted nothing more but to reach out to her, even though it would be a tough fight to get past the impossible walls she's built up over the years.

oliver is a touch-starved baby, and secretly really enjoys pda...but prefers to not initiate the first move. she'll find herself reaching out to link pinkies with one of her partners, only to shyly link her hands behind her back as soon as she reaches out. she's pretty frustrated by how shy and embarrassed she gets so easily,,, it's not that she thinks pda itself is embarrassing--she just cant bring herself to ever bring the first move. but whenever her partner does it for her (like, all the time), her face does heat up quite a bit, but she lets it happen, and even sighs a little sigh of relief when it happens.

(24. What's a gift that you've given each other that means a lot to you?)

okay okay, so, oliver being the little indoors kid she was with her siblings, learned a lot of things! one of those, being making bracelets for people she deems worthy of such affections/hj. when she got more comfortable with kaeya and childe, she spent her time making bracelets for them, and put their initials on them (k + o, a + o, and k + o + a for herself, because she wanted them to match). she approached them with her head down, and shoved the bracelets in their hands, and very quickly walking away right after. they had to chase her down just to thank her <//3 its something they all cherish SO much, especially the boys :33

whenever she knows that they'll be gone for a long while, she wears their clothes all over the house, and if they're, like, out of mondstat, she'll wear a piece of their clothing when she's going out...the townsfolk dont say anything though <3. she refuses to sleep on her own pillow when they're gone, instead sleeping on one of their pillows, while holding the other. uses their cologne when they're gone. (except, in contrast to the ask, she'd die before she shares any of this with them)

i dont think kaeya would be gone for as long as childe and oliver would be, so; whenever it's kaeya and childe waiting for olivers long awaited return, they clean up the house beforehand, prepare a bath and food (because they both know damn well oliver has NOT eaten for as long as she's been out. if she was out for like a few weeks to a month or two, chances are she's only eaten like three times the entire time), or, they'll plan a date: if oliver's too tired by the time she gets home, then after she eats and bathes (nothing but princess treatment), she goes into their bedroom where there is rose petals all over the sheets and three bottles of wine on the nightstand + candles. she murmurs about how dramatic they are while cuddling w/ them, and it makes them happy :>

as for oliver and kaeya; they definitely cook for childe, which was, surprisingly, olivers idea. just because she hardly eats, doesn't mean she can't cook !! they make his favorites, even though it takes a while. but seeing his tired little freckled face brighten up at the smell of whatever was brewing up in the kitchen was always worth it :D. they talk for a bit while childe eats, but if childe wants them to eat too, then they will (they make oliver eat, but only if they know she hasnt eaten all day). then childe gets to decide what else they wanna do for the rest of the night, and they'll gladly oblige! (an immediate no from oliver if it has anything to do with fighting)

ever since oliver asked them to let them move into her house, they're always sleeping together. it used to didn't matter where they slept, but oliver would wake up on the floor or under the bed so they put her in the middle so she wouldn't accidentally kill herself with how messy a sleeper she was <//3. childe is such a blanket hog istg. now, kaeya can probably sleep without blankets (psychopath), but if oli doesnt have anything covering her, he'll have to take the blankets back from childe and make him share,, childe does half-wake up with an eepy little apology and covers oliver though, and its cute it gets both of them a kiss on the forehead from eyepatch man <33

oliver and childe are s t a c k e d with mora, so they prefer spoiling each other + kaeya. between the two, it's a race to see who can steal/hide the other's wallet before they leave the house to see who gets dibs on paying for everything. its so amusing to watch omg <//3. if childe has to suffer not paying for anything, then. oh my god. him and kaeya take the longest time in the store. checking every outfit and every little accessory, both for themselves AND oliver. literally drags her around to find as many matching items as they can. they're lucky she has money and loves them (she guesses) or else she'd tel them put EVERYTHING back istg

if it was oliver that couldn't bring her wallet, she wouldn't get much, really. she'd help kaeya and childe shop around, and accept whatever they pciked out for her, but other than that, she herself doesnt buy much. to make up for that, she lets them shove her into the dressing room multiple times just to try on the outfits they think she'd look good in (they're convinced she looks good in anything but she doesnt believe it fr)

oliver doesn't like pictures, and tries to cover herself whenever one is on her. and the boys, of course, takes this as a challenge to sneak up on her as many times as they possibly can >:) but she honestly doesnt mind it when they mush her next to them for a picture, and, while she wont admit that, the way she ""SUBTLY"" looks at them so softly in the final picture is enough for them to know. i feel like its mostly selfies, but when they do do silly things, they have to quite literally beg oliver to partake in the silly activities, because she will refuse otherwise <//3 they have to plead for her to even do the thing with her hair where you pretend to have a mustache (childe i kid you not cut off a piece of his hair just to do this, oliver slapped him). they probably all use kaeyas long ass hair to give all three of them the same blue mustache hehe. you wont catch oliver dead sticking her tongue out in a photo

i feel that they're all pretty stubborn when it comes to letting the other take care of them, but eventually they give in and lets them coddle them for as long as they're sick !! oliver's definitely the most stubborn about it, and can hide it for probably days until it gets so bad she's ready to die (then gets scolded by the boys like there's no tomorrow). that is- if she's not caught redhanded before it gets bad (probably gaslights her way out of the situation)

CHILDE. when he gets sick he's fucking m i s e r a b l e. dont ask me why i just know. and then, he acts like the BIGGEST. BABY. when sick. if oliver or kaeya isnt spoonfeeding him he wont eat the damn soup point blank period. both him and oliver have it in common when it comes to literally hiding away from their medicine though <//3

if either of the boys refuse to take their medicine or listen to oliver, the glare she gives them is enough to keep them in bed for at least two days dfhdgk

both oliver and childe's side of the family, and secretly diluc shhhh. only oliver knows that though because they're besties, but he does make subtle comments whenever kaeya's around (not childe. childe can suck it)

olivers mother supports it entirely; she watched kaeya and his brother grow up for a little until they moved to liyue, where oliver and her siblings stayed until adulthood. so she's pretty happy about that! she had mixed feelings with childe at first, but honestly, as long as her princess is happy, she's content with what they have. it takes a while for olivers siblings (i mean ALL of them. her younger sister was already supporting it before they were together) to support either boys,,,skldfjkf especially childe <//3

that the love isn't actually "all there". let me explain;

childe and oliver already practically hated each other at first, and even now she acts as though she can't stand him, but thats only when they're not behind closed doors. in all honesty, she acts like that with pretty much everybody, but its...different, because that's her lover.

personal hc !! kaeya wasn't in any kind of relationship before this one, and only flirted and hit on people every now and then. oliver doesnt really care what either guy does because she wouldn't date them if she didn't put her trust in them at all. so when she acts indifferent to kaeyas flirting (that has toned down a bit, since he's in a committed relationship now), people tend to think she doesnt care at all, and that she wouldnt care if he "cheated" (something i doubt kaeya would ever do in any universe). which is...untrue. entirely. same case scenario for childe??

or that childe is literally a harbinger. with someone who's known to hate anything having to do with the fatui in any sense, and a captain of the knights...this by itself is self-explanatory, but none of it is trueeee

im almost certain that they would absolutely put their lives on the line for one another, and love each other more than words can even express. so even if they did know about this misconceptions, i doubt they'd pay ANY mind to them, because they know how untrue they are. the audacity for someone who doesn't even know about the depths of their love and make assumptions about it anyway is amusing. irritating, but amusing bc they dont care lol they love each other and THEY know they love each other, that's all that really matters :shrug:

"What they make us feel has been, and will always be much more stronger than any fight with a strong enemy ever's made us feel. Eventually, you'll learn that you have to start picking fights carefully, not only for your own sake, but theirs. They're more important to us than any adrenaline rush will ever be. Mud did the agility!!! We are both rusty.

We ended up doing five runs. I wasn't sure how early I needed to be there to add day of show, so we got there early. They started like...15-20 minutes later than the posted start time. So Mud (and I) were getting antsy. I decided to enter him in one round of Novice Gamblers, so he ended up jumping 16" a few times. I'd prefer not just...throwing him on stuff, but he's looking good and seems like he handled it ok for the most part. Figured the 3 jumps I had planned to do (2 were part of the gamble) weren't going to kill him.

After doing the first 3 obstacles as requested, Mud just shot out and decided to make a big huge loop, including an a-frame, which he hasn't been on since July 2021, lol. Took out a jump. Then slipped going around a barrel and going thru the last hoop, which had me like please don't. I haven't seen him just disconnect like that in awhile.

Then we had Intro Jumpers. I had intended to run him at 8", but after the slip and slide performances in Gamblers, I elected for 12", just to encourage a tiny bit more control. He looked pretty comfortable at 12", so that's encouraging for next year when he will be able to enter as a Skilled Vet. His first run I got the wrong end of the tunnel when I gave a tunnel verbal as he came over the jump. I was hesitant to say "here, tunnel" and get the over correction like I did in this second round, but oh well. I haven't done jack in 16-ish months either.

Then he did Intro Weavers. He didn't hit the set of weaves on the first try either round. I'm not sure if this is just a lack of practice thing, or if it's a residual ouchie feelings thing. For several months before his biceps tendon diagnosis, he subtly attempted to avoid the weaves. Eventually he would do them. Anyway, once he got in the poles, they were fluid as hell, just like in the backyard. He drove all the way thru all 6 once he was in correctly, with consistent footwork. Hopefully when he realizes they won't hurt so much and he gets some more practice, the entries will come back. No video from Weavers because my mom went home.

@twobigears I made sure to take one ribbon. I don't normally take ribbons at agility trials anymore.

So, this seems to have gone well. I'm not bumping agility training/trialing up on the priority list too much. He seems to be feeling ok today. I'd like to continue to condition him and chip away and all the body awareness and strength skills he needs for the various pieces of equipment. I guess we could add some handling stuff back on the flat. The grass was a little slick earlier in the day because it had frosted. There are ASCA trials held at another location on dirt. I'd be curious to try that out and see what their surface is like. It still seemed Mud sometimes takes off a bit early with that goofy jumping style, but doesn't look all that different from his sister, who has stayed sound and is run by someone who has done ALL the jump training and did well at AKC Nationals. He also offered a single 20" jump and didn't look bad. So idk. Maybe AKC isn't as much of a pipe dream.

I just don't want to make too many plans because Mud can totally screw himself up again, lmfao. It seems to be his MO.

Kinda funny that I binged the first 4 episodes, watched the next 4 episodes weekly, then am binging the last 4 episodes. Hopefully I didn't forget everything because I haven't watched the show in a month since ep 8.

I think this is teaching me that I like watching shows over 10-14 days after the show is done or reaching its end rather than watching weekly. I'll try to refrain from starting On-Air shows right now but who knows, might succumb to the desire once again.

It's ep 11 and nothing actually important happened this ep until possibly the end because everything kept getting resolved or something. but also idk how things keep getting resolved, what exactly are they planning to do about Kit?

Also Palm in this ep just kept smiling and nodding along to Nueng like wtf

Ep 12: Forever (Feb 28)

I just think it's so funny that fucked up murderer with no morals Kit is like "why the fuck are you guys pointing your guns at my son?!" to his bodyguards after said son shot him in the leg while Palm's father is such a piece of shit spineless buffoon that he'd rather Palm jump in front of bullets to protect Nueng Diao

and then Chopper got to have a more dramatic crying scene with his father who got shot in the arm by the police than Palm got to have with his mom

I actually don't care about the plot of this show that much because I was mostly there for the characters and character relationships but it didn't give me what I wanted. I don't like Ben/Chopper and Nueng/Palm felt meh toward the end and also didn't give me whatI wanted really.

My big problem with this show which is that nothing feels like it gets enough emotion or gravity and instead it's either fixed quickly or we move on quickly

Anyway, idk. I liked the first 2/3 of the series even though it wasn't A Fave but it had some great moments and lots of potentials to me. I stopped caring about the characters while watching these last 4 and these last 2 episodes were just so... agh.

I just care about Chopper atp and want better for him.

This was one of my most anticipated shows of 2022 (which is why I started watching it weekly), so it's sad that it turned out this way.

1. what's the fic you're most proud of?

my maroon fic, probably. i worked really hard on that one and it was a little out of my comfort zone. i read it (or at least what i had written for it) before bed basically every night for a month before i published it (but haven't read it since 😅).

2. what's a fic that took you to an emotional/dark/hard place?

tbh i haven't really explored any darker themes. the 'angstiest' thing i've written is the maroon fic and even that i don't think is really that angsty. i really admire writers that can effectively craft works with darker themes in a compelling and nuanced way because it's definitely something i'm not naturally inclined to write. maybe one day.

3. what fic are you emotionally attached to?

....all of them? lol. maroon fic for sure. my longer natelehky wip too because it was my first real foray into hrpf. it still holds a really special place in my heart, which is part of why i haven't finished it. i'm scared i won't be able to do it justice, i think.

4. what fic of your own do you read for comfort?

for a while it was my cribbage fic! i really liked writing cale's pov for that and i think the story came across the way i wanted, if that makes sense? rn though any of my little established relationship one shots! they're relatively quick and easy for me to write and meant to be quick and easy to read :)

5. what fic of your own won't you read?

my maroon fic 😭😭😭. i think i put so much work into it and had so many expectations for myself for it that i'm afraid if i'll read it again that i won't think it's good or something?? idk it's silly and stupid and i've gotta get over it but yeah.

i know i've definitely had elements of my fics show up in other people's work before but it's not something i keep track of these days, i don't have a lot of time to read fic ^^;; however a few months ago i did find some podcasters had read my fic aloud and commented on it and put it up on the free tier of their patreon??? they said really nice things about it which was a shocker but i feel my insides curdling whenever someone reads my ao3 username out loud HAHAHA

i have had them translated a few times! i think pros and cons has a translation or two floating around, and i thiiink? some fics from skywalker palindrome have been translated? i know someone asked and it took me a few days to reply to tell them yes (again, terrible at replying, that's my bad)

not exactly a singular fic but i love co-writing series together with my bestie!!!

FINISHING THE DAMN THING. both in terms of actually sticking to a fic long enough to finish it, and also the concept of endings as a whole.

i don't think i've personally done it, but if i needed to i'd like to make sure it's accurate, readable, and translatable for someone who doesn't read the language.

i actually can get a link to it if fanfic dot net is still working!! (spoiler alert: it is...for now!)

anyways, the first fic i wrote/published was for the lost boys. it hardly counts as a fic bc it's more like a meme that was going around at the time on ff.net, which was a "you've seen [x media] way too many times if...!" list of in-jokes. here it is. and if you want to look at some of my other extremely old stuff i wrote over ten years ago, be my guest i guess! fair warning a lot of it is not great!

20. Favorite fic you've written?

i know this is cheating but i have to say i think my favorite fic i've worked on is the skywalker palindrome as a whole. it's a series of fics but they work together to tell a story that remains an open-ended tragedy. we know where anakin ends up. luke knows who anakin becomes. and it seems like nothing luke can do will turn anakin away from that path. this is the rare situation where i actually have a very clear idea of how it all ends, and i just need to write my way there - which is going to take quite a while QAQ

Not to pry or anything but do u take any migraine meds? I take rizotriptan and it’s a comfort just having it with me tbh

no i just rawdog life unmedicated lmfao.

so the thing is, i had a very strict schedule where i got a migraine once every 2 years on the dot give or take a few months. summer 2012. summer 2014. january 2017. fall 2019. fall 2021. i wasnt expecting one until fall 2023 then all the sudden fall 2022 i got two only a few months apart, and then i had another one back in february or march 2023. so ive had three now that were completely off schedule and so thats whats making me so nervous and on edge all the time because my whole schedule was thrown off. if they don’t adhere to a schedule, then it can happen at any time, so i can never relax. when it was only once every 2, 2.5 years then its like whatever man i knew when to expect it i knew what time of the year i had to be wary and then i could relax during off schedule times. so there’s the fact that my migraines used to be A. on a schedule and B. very far apart at that, and then ultimately C. my migraines are pretty short lasting so its like, i’ll suffer through it for the 6-8 hours. so really no i don’t think i need medication nor do i even want it. its fine. its just something i need to keep an eye on and deal with when it comes

but then with the way my migraines started going off schedule, my mom suggested i take excedrin since it helps her, but frankly the last time i got a migraine i took excedrin and it actually made it worse. like it definitely lessened the pain and it was actually the one and only time i got through a migraine without puking at all, but it was still, ultimately, a migraine and my main way of coping with them is just sleeping through it. but the caffeine in excedrin made it impossible for me to sleep and so i was just writhing in pain for fucking two hours before i finally finally fell asleep. so yeah i would actually rather not take excedrin again if it means that i can sleep through the whole ordeal even if my symptoms during my waking moments are worse. and i havent tried out any other meds really due to everything in the previous paragraph

3. What fandoms do you write for? Currently TDJ (The Devil Judge), Beyond Evil with some dabbling in Half Bad: TBSATDH (The Bastard Son and the Devil Himself) and Good Omens. I have an ongoing (4 years in the works...) unpublished marvel wip that may never see the light of day, and I've fallen out of writing for a lot of other fandoms.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? - Angels on Earth - The Afterhours of Sunlight - Demons Were Always a Selfish Creature - In My Palms, a Trace of Heaven - Stars, Hide Your Fires 5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Yes because I enjoy interacting with people part of the fandoms I'm in and want to show my appreciation to my readers for actually engaging with my fic.

6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? What a question. Where do I even start?! I'll only discuss my published fics, but the true answer is likely one of my fics that I deleted a few years back, or a personal fic I was making with my best friend. Of my published fics, it's probably Slipping Through My Fingers although that does have a more ambiguous ending. Come to think of it, my published fics don't have angsty endings right now! That may change very quickly though 😏

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? I'm inclined to say Everything and Nothing (When the World Is Quiet) purely because of the pain and the torment the main character (Jeong-je from Beyond Evil) went through to finally be given reprieve and a proper chance to continue with his life without such an overbearing, oppressive guilt and responsibility on his shoulders. It's cathartic, which yeah isn't what we automatically assume to be the happiest, but I think it's the happiest ending for him.

Stars, Hide Your Fires is very joyful too.

8. Do you get hate on fics? I do not, thankfully. 9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I don't write smut. Not comfortable writing it and don't think I could do it properly without it coming out all wrong? if that makes sense

When you first began babysitting for Wanda, you’ll admit, you made several MILF jokes with your friends. In all honesty, your meeting had been completely accidental. She’d been at the laundromat and one of her boys had ‘accidentally’ dropped her dryer sheets in one of the numerous puddles gathering outside thanks to the vicious thunderstorm. You offered her yours, and since you were the only two in the place for a few hours, you got to talking. You’re already going to college to become a teacher, so the topic of her needing a sitter for her elusive ‘business trips’ was brought up. Just like that, you made simultaneously the best and worst decision of your life.

It’s not like she’s that much older than you. You’re able to drink, so really, the age difference shouldn’t matter. At least, that’s what you tell yourself. To be honest, in the months following your first encounter, your attraction only grew to the point where just looking at her made your cheeks warm.

The boys were at their father’s for the weekend. Wanda was determined in preparing enough cookies to last the rest of the holiday season, apparently, and had asked if you’d wanted to help. (“I can pay you!” She’d insisted. Of course you refused payment. Baking cookies means free samples, and that’s enough payment.) (You had to ignore Darcy’s jeering and Yelena’s relentless teasing about being ‘pussy whipped’.)

That’s how you find yourself completely alone in an empty house with the redhead. In your lifetime, you’ve made quite a handful of bad choices but this one has to take the cake. Your mind is so far in the gutter you’re barely hanging onto the threads of sanity. It doesn’t help that, ever since you got this job, you haven’t been seeking out any hookups whatsoever. It’s hard to get off when you can’t stop thinking about the woman you babysit for.

What’s worse is that Wanda is wearing nothing but a silk robe, the fabric loose around her legs but scandalously tight everywhere else. Your eyes have drifted down to her chest more than once, causing you to spill or drop something every goddamn time.

Wanda seems oblivious to the state she’s left you in. At least, that’s what you thought.

She’d been mixing the homemade icing for your little gingerbread folk, scooping the sugary goop onto two fingers. “Come try this frosting, it’s delicious.”

You’re not stupid. You know for a fact that she could have offered this using the spoon in her other hand. The fact that she’s offering this to you with her fingers means something, but you aren’t exactly sure what it is yet.

Wanda’s laughter startles you from your paranoia. “It’s alright. I won’t bite.”

Cautiously, you set down the bowl of wet dry ingredients you’d been working on for snickerdoodles. The distance between you isn’t large, but the step it takes to cross it feels like both a gaping canyon and a crack in the sidewalk. Your t-shirt is stained with flour and chocolate, hair pulled into a haphazard bun. You’re positive you look like an absolute mess compared to Wanda’s ever-composed perfect-housewife.

Fingers are brought up to your lips. Your already flustered brain is beginning to go haywire, several actions popping into the forefront of your thoughts before your body goes for the one that’s the least helpful to your pathetic state. You wrap your lips around Wanda’s fingertips, the fog of your own lust abruptly giving way to the horror of realizing that you’re literally sucking on the fingers of the woman you babysit for.

Wanda’s eyes widen, her pupils dilating significantly. A soft noise leaves her pouting lips as she twists her fingers so that she can slide the icing over your tongue. Horny Autopilot takes over. You run your tongue along her fingertips, making sure to clean off every drop of icing as the redhead watches you, transfixed. Your heart is hammering so loudly in your ears you wonder if she can hear it, too.

Stranger Things Season 4 Volume 2 - REACTION + THOUGHTS

Holy fucking shit, everyone 😭 it was only two episodes and yet I feel drained, it took like 4+ hours to get through two damn episodes but I did it!
